*Actually, it’s more complicated than that. India is a huge country and uses several different calendars, lunar, solar, and lunisolar, depending on where you are. One widely celebrated lunar new year falls on April 4. Sindhi New Year is April 5. Solar new year is celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on April 14 and in Bengal and Assam on April 15. Depending on who’s counting, it’s also the year 2011, 2068, 1933, 5112, 5087, 1404, 2082, 897, 994, 64, or 24.<\/p>\n
