yay can i post my quiz here? i can just copy the text if you don’t want to do a link
Hello, moderater-who-moderated-my-question! want to answer it? ♥
What quiz? Isn’t this for figuring out course schedules and such? yurgh, I get to do that enough with my own school. MA would be great though.
Yes i know i’m being a horribly impatient person. And also triple-posting. But it’s very late and i’m very hyper, whee. Also i am writing essay which means procrastination whee
No links. Post text. Good night!
You didn’t triple post. I saved you from that disgrace. Just kidding… [/randomness] I guess you could post the quiz, I’ll do it!
5~ how can we do this if there’s no one to moderate? Or are the others on?
Aww :'(
What Muse Academy House Are You In?
For Musebloggers. If Mostly Harmless, hot pink bunnies, and pie wars mean nothing to you, this quiz probably isn’t for you.
What do you enjoy most?
A: Art and graphics
B: Music and cheese
C: Science and logic
D: Cute fuzzy animals and writing
Which description best fits your personality?
A: Geeky, but loveable. Shy, smart, curious (and questioning, maybe?).
B: Energetic (hyper?), talkative, enthusiastic
C: Nice, smart, creative, helpful
D: Wacky, zany, crazy, odd but hilarious sense of humour
You see something odd, that you’ve never seen before. What’s the first thing you think to do?
A: Teach it to play the hurdy-gurdy
B: Observe it, and possibly take it apart to see what it does and how it works
C: Write a detailed description of it, and have people read the description to see if they know what it is
D: Take a picture of it, and photoshop it being overrun by swarms of hot pink bunnies

ABD-You are in LASLEY HOUSE, the house of our amazing Lady Bunniful GAPA, photoshopper extraordinaire, Napkin-Bunny-Maker, and lover of art!
CAB-You are in COONTZ HOUSE, the house of our beloved First GAPA, Q&A columnist, and lover of science!
BDA-You are in BAKER HOUSE, the house of our wonderful British GAPA, Hilarious-Article-Writer, Tudor Musician, and lover of cheese!
DCC-You are in SPECTOR HOUSE, the house of our incredible Helpful Criticism GAPA, Q&A columnist, amazing editor, and lover of english!
I’m not as smart as the computer, so i’m not going to bother with other combinations of letters. you figure it out!
7-LB’s on
What’s the quiz for, ebeth?
ha! I knew my post’d be posted after the quiz. I’m smart. I’m also in house Spector! Whoo!
1. B, and soy/rice cheese, not dairy. And D, as well…
2. All of the above, depends on what mood I’m in.
3. A, only I’d teach it to play violin or lap dulcimer, or ask it if it played concertina. (If it did, would it teach me?)
Umm, so what does that make me? I think you could refine that a bit.
12-It’s not that detailed, it just gives a general idea. For one thing, the GAPAs do share a lot of interests and personality traits, and for another, if every single muser is going to fit into one of the four houses, it has to be a little vague.
And besides, we’re all musers here!
jeeshers, that hasn’t been said in forever…
I got mentioned in the quiz! *happy dance of joy* Phase one of the evil plan is complete! Bwahaha… *whistles innocently*
1. equal tie between B and C- music x2, science, and logic
2. equal tie A and D. If I had to pick one, A of course.
3. B
It’s hard to tell, but I think I’m in Coontz House. But if Baker House has trombone quartets like the one the other day, I’m visiting often.
It’s 11:40. I should leave…or something… I’m tired, but this is the only free time I have all day.
ADB-what’s that mean for me? well…I could be ABB or AAB…hmm. Well, I think I would mainly be in COONTZ house. That makes the most sence. Then LASLEY house makes the second most sence.(I’m spelling sence wrong, aren’t I?)
yeah, my runner-up house was Coontz!
It’s got two s’s sense
The MA would have to have good food. And pies for dessert, of course. Non-throwing ones. and choklit! And chicken and a good salad bar and PB&J and yummy things like that.
Also i think it should be 5th-12th grade, since there are a lot of middle school musers
I would probably be in Baker House, like I said, due to my obsession with historic music. But writing is included in that as well, and I would like that.
Would the people from one house get time with the other GAPAs too?
12~ With special classes for college aged students as well, since a good few will probably be in that age before it becomes a reality.
I suppose you might also choose according to criteria that would complement your existing strengths. For instance, you may be good at science and logic but would really like to explore music and cheese in more depth. Or someone wacky and zany might like to hang out with geeky, but lovable.
(18) Somehow I think MA’s structure would be more flexible than the norm. Also, writing and language generally are important to all of us. Kind of goes with the territory.
Hm, yeah, I guess so. Dumb of me to say something….
It would be a fun place to go, I wish it were real. *sigh* l would love it. I have a feeling that math would actually be explained, and thus easier. I hate math. Sorry, math lovers, I just can’t like it. *gnashes teeth*
Actually, I think everybody fits into the “wacky and zany” as well as the “geeky but lovable”. Maybe that’s just because of my multiple personalities, I don’t know.
(21) Not dumb at all. I’m just thinking out loud. And I think you’re right that many of those traits are shared on MuseBlog — probably multiple personalities as well.
*echoing sigh* I wish it were real, too. I’d probably sneak over to the math department and take some classes. Math didn’t make much sense to me in school, either, for much the same reason (even though mathematical talent runs in my family). Now I feel like I missed out and would love to know more.
I got CCC, so that would make me 1/3 COONTZ and 2/3 SPECTOR. Eek, I don’t think I’d like splinching.
Can we make more questions? I think that would help. I’ll write some when I get home from school – GAPAs, will you provide some more personality traits and quirks, which we may not know already?
I believe I am Spector house.
Meh. Muse academy would be so cool
ivars peterson would make it amazing
Baker House!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!
We have to have classes on all kinds of different subjects, like cheese…..or cheese……or cheese. (I’m having a little trouble thinking this morning) Any ideas???
If I were running MA, I’d assign houses by a random-number generator.
I got ADB. O_O GAH! Why don’t I BELONG?! No, just kidding.
27- Sounds spectacular!
13- *pies Ebeth*
I got ADD. I wonder if that’s somehow signifigant… Anyway, Lasley House. Mostly.
27- LOL.
My calculator has a random number generater on it. Two random number generators, now I think about it. I ♥ my calculator. It was 150$, I’ve been wanting one for years, and then my Physics teacher was all “buy a good calculator for this class.” So I got my TI-84. Finally. [/randomness]
MA should require a nice calculator. And also a laptop of some sort. And classes should include: sciences, math, english, foreign languages, computer stuff (and not like what you get in most schools, about how to use Microsoft Word (which sucks, by the way), I mean cool stuff like html and programing and such), and pie throwing, and PE, if it’s included, should be an elective, not required. Oh, and there should also be a class in graphic design, too.
:idea:TNÖ:idea:
I am mostly in Baker.
Maybe we should let Noobs know which house they are in when they arrive on MB.
Coontz house. What else?
(29) TNÖ, that curriculum sounds great. Kind of what I had in mind for the Art Department. Physics, chemistry, math, history, languages….

I’m in Lasley House! w00t.
Now it’s time for classes! Off to Photoshopping 109!
Coontz house. w00tness. Time for computer programming 101.
This is good so far! I like the idea that the GAPAs have the houses. I think the Muses should be the teachers!!! And Graduated MAers can teach, too, but only if they’ve attended MA.
GAPAs: these questions are so we can see which house has the best fencing team/cooking team, etc. Yes, some of them are extremely obvious, but oh well…
Which one of you is the best at (or would like your house to be the best at)…
–Fencing
–Pie-making
–Pie-throwing
–Visual Arts
–Literary Arts
–Theater
–Musical Theater
–Dance
–Instrumental Music
…I’ll list more later, and people are welcome to add on to the list.
i have no idea what i’m in. i photoshop, quite a bit, and i write c++. i am more musically than artistically or scientifically or writingly inclined. i do like to read though (Dont we all, doesnt really count)
so kinda BCD, but not a very encompassing quiz… (no offense)
anyone care to classify me?
House symbols, my ideas:
Lasley – an HPB, no doubt;
Baker – bagpipes;
Spector – a rose (for Rosanne);
Coontz – hm, that’s tough. Perhaps a heron. I’m fond of herons.
I like those symbols, Robert. And remember, roses have thorns. Mwahahahaha.
Should the house symbols be live things? Like animals? Or is it okay that they’re just inanimate objects? Maybe Baker could be something playing bagpipes, and Spector could be something holding a rose, or something. Or does it not really matter?
I originally thought Ebeth’s quiz was too short to really sort houses well, but I think it works really well! Everyone seems to be going to the right place and such
…If you aren’t sorted into a house (one of each, or something), you can I guess just decide which one suits you the best, or someone can suggest a house, is that okay?
39- How ’bout a hawk for the symbol? Just a suggestion…
We need my current math teacher, who has ADHD. I’m actually learning math now, but I just had the strangest conversation with her about me smiling too much in class. I think it makes her nervous.
I got BCB~Baker\Spector\Coontz. Ithink I’d be Coontz, but I really love cheese. We need to offer every language spoken, and start kids on them in third grade, or whenever they arrive.
43- Not every language spoken, that’d be impossible, but most of them. And also Latin, which has virtually no use in the present-day world except annoying people. And they should be started early as possible.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have, like, K-12+ in MA? That way we could keep the poor, innocent little kiddies from being brainwashed into believing that nerdiness=social inadequacy. *dreamy sigh* imagine being educated all your life surrounded by a bunch of Musers…
Raise your hand if you think you have an as-yet-undiagnosed (or if it is diagnosed) multiple personality disorder/ADHD/OCD/all of the above! *raises hand*
I swear I’ve got “all of the above” and, actually, so do all my friends, and my parents, and they’re not even s’posed to admit that they think I’ve got problems… Although the aforementioned “disorders” aren’t really problems in the traditional sense of the word… More like “unusual states of mind”. I think you probably would end up getting at least a mild case of ADHD just from reading Muse and MB-ing, since we’re all so… well, random.
The MA schedule should also, of course, include music and drama and other artsy stuff. Oh, and there should be a block schedule or something ‘cuz that’s soooo much easier that short classes. And there needs to be, like, a shop or something with back issues of Muse, all the way back to the first issue, for those poor souls who didn’t start getting them in 1997 or whenever it was first published.
MA’s a boarding school, right? I have trouble thinking of it as not being a boarding school.
:idea:TNÖ:idea:
38-You’re pretty much all over the map, so I’ll ask a few more questions:
What’s your favorite magical creature out of these?
A. HPB
B. Leprechaun
C. Griffin
D. Swan
I’ll ask some more later, and I’m going to make a quiz on Quizilla (once I figure out how…).
Coontz. I think most will go to Coontz.
I’M IN LASTLY HOUSE!!!!!! TNO
CBB or ADA… i think im in Coontz, though. it sounds the most interesting to me. *raises hand*
I want to learn fencing and pie throwing…sounds like fun.
I want to learn fencing and pie throwing…sounds like fun.
45-definitly leprechaun. They’re the best.
44-hey! latin pwns!
45-tie between griffin and hpb.
(40) I know!
I am in Lasley house. Hm… Rebecca always seemed much more mature and thoughtful than me. I’m rather surprised. She’s the kind of person who you’d think is like, your favorite coworker; nice, smart, but with a little streak of mischief. That’s certainly not me.
How ’bout this as another placement method. An unidentified but suited for the job (be honest) GAPA/blogger takes it upon themselves to be the official sorter. Under anonymity, as stated before. I do not have the responsibility nor reliability to do sommat such as that.
(55) Why, thank you, Gwendolyn. The maturity is a façade, I assure you.
52- I’m with you there. Unfortunately, many people don’t seem to share that particular view.
Purple Panda (37)
I’d like Spector house to be best at everything.
But for now I’ll go with my strengths and dreams:
1. Pie making
2. Pie throwing
3. Fencing
4. Dance
and some subjects not on your list…
5. Building computers
6. Relating to computers
7. Language skills – English and otherwise
8. Botany
9. Flying
10. Storytelling
11. Dogs
I am a Lasleyan. Yupz, but I sort of want to be in the one with the love of the english language, and the hilarious one…. Aghle.
Can I be a LasleCooBakeSpectoTzian?
pronunciation; Las-leh-Koo-bayk-spec-toht-zee-an. That is for those of us with no self defined talents. Why MUST we have houses? Why can’t we just be mashed together?

Rosanne – did you want Spector House to be best at #s 5-11, or were those just others for the other GAPAs to choose from?
PP, Those are included in the house specialties too! It’s a very accomplished house.
I think that all the houses should have a distinct color. My Ideas:
Coontz:Deep Purple(sign:pair of glasses)
Lasley:Hot Pink(sign:hpb)
Baker:Green(sign:bagpipes)
Specter:Red(sign:rose?was that right?)
60-you left out C++D
[I added C++D to Coontz House to save Pan a post. Maybe the Coontz sign should be wings (for the heron) or maybe a heron with glasses? –Rebecca]
61 (Rosanne) – That’s what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. I’ll add them next time I post a list.
62 (Gimnator) – Great colors! Are they anything like your favorite colors, GAPAs? What are your favorite colors, anyway?
I think coontz should be green, for some reason. Mebbe robert reminds me of slytherin (jk :D). idk, it just seems like it would fit.
i think baker house should be blue, mostly because my quiz said i was in it, and it’s my fav color. i’m being brutally honest because it’s hard to be subtle when you haven’t slept. Also i really shouldn’t be procrastinating, but you can only make so many little dots on a graph before going completely wacko, especially when you’ve spent five hours swearing at computers, one banging your head on the desk and swearing because you’ve left your chem in your binder, which you never got back from your chem teacher, and walking down to celia’s to get a copy, and another hour punching in numbers and making little dots on a graph.
All in all, not the most exciting day. MA would have amazing computers (built by aeiou and chad, most likely) that would get a newspaper together in a couple hours and calculate things by scanning in the numbers and figuring them out for you. And MA would have bigger wraps. Penn station’s wraps have become teensy. I think it’s because they get ripped off on the lemonade…you get free refills, and people in south snipville will DEFINITELY take advantage of that. several times over. I drank half a medium (there are no smalls) just waiting for my food, and refilled it before i left because it was take-out and because i could. Anyway, i think they realized “holy cannoli, we’re making no money now” and decided to give us slightly less food and see if we’d notice.
well i should prolly get back to my little dots. dot…dot…dot…dot…dot…
the heads of house (aka the GAPAS) each teach a difrent thing:
Coontz: science
Lasley: computers
Baker: music/ world history
Specter: writing
I think Lasley should be computer and visual arts, becase Rebecca does a lot of visual arts as well.
66- yeah. I was in a hurry.
I’m in Spector House!
15- Yes you are. It’s SENSE.
27- And you AREN’T running MA?
(68) At the moment, I’d say the inmates are running the asylum.
By the way, houses are just for residence, identity, and competitive activities such as sports. Any student may study any subject, and they all attend classes together.
AAH! l like science and computer graphics! What to do? What to do?
70- See post 69.
*gasp!* Where’d my post go?!?!
Sorry, matey! Yer message bin including personal contact information about another website, so we heaved it overboard. Yarrr.
My, this thread is popular! Gone fo a day, and here’s what happens.
Yeah, Rosanne, yours can’t be the best house in everything! Ah well.
Perhaps in languages we should include Old English? This would be nice, since I’m already learning it!
(37) Lasley House has a special reputation for the following:
Sports:
silly walks
stunt fencing
pie explosives
chaos distribution
dancing: store aisles division
competitive iambics
championship beachcombing
sailing: staying afloat division
stargazing
birdwatching
marathon comics drawing
Hobbies and crafts:
creative anthropology
planet exploration
laughing at ourselves
percussion instruments
world conquest
I want to be in all the houses now!! Ah well. *sigh* again.
75- i love your house!and you of course. yay for the Lasleys. we need a house song…..hmmm…
to the tune of saints go marching in.
Oh when the Laaaasley house compeeetes
Oh when the lasley house compeeetes
how I want to be in their plaaaaace
Oh when the lastley house competes
Oh when the Laaaasleys show their skiiils
Oh when the Lasleys show their skiiiils.
Oh how thy work staands in their shadooow
Oh when the Lasley show their skiiiils
OH when the Laaaasleys tell their joooooookes
Oh when the Lasleys tell their jooooookes
Oh how you want to laugh ’till you cryyyyyy
Oh when the Lasley tell their jooookes.
Oh how the Laaaaaasleys are on toooop
Oh how the Lasleys are on tooooop
Oh how you wiiiish you were in our hoooouuuuse
Because the Lasleys are on toooop.
75- That sounds so much like me it’s scary.
77- LOL.
8- What if I got B, A, A? And I’m interested in all those things… where do I go?
17- What about a collage-level one nearby? Bu only after we get this one figured out…
39- Ooh, cool. Make it a Great Blue heron. We have those on our lake.
40- Mwahaha indeed ^^
44- *gasp* Noo, latin is very usefull! I is the language of science!
56- Haha, *remembers last year’s art thread* You were atempting to acti like an adult way back then. Thank goodness you came around so fast
Just plain colors? Come now. Paul’s is obviously light green, white, and green blue plaid; Rebecca’s is hot-pink with a gold swirl, Rosanne’s is red(/with a rose with a very dark green stem) and sort of satiny; Robert’s is deep purple with a bit of green/blue and thick like velvet.
69- But those are the areas you are head of teaching. If some of us are old enough to teach by then we’ll help out and all, but your wisdom is what’s starting this
75- I think I probably belong there ^^ Unless Rosanne has things to add, I’d probably have the most in common there.
Those quiz questions are way too hard. xD I’m pretty much half-Spector
and half-Coontz. This is very difficult. (I know it doesn’t really
matter, of course, since I can still take other courses and socialise
and whatnot.) I like Robert’s idea (post twenty-seven) although this
way is fun…
Well, if there were to be an inter-house competition, it looks as if Lasley house is winning. I don’t think I could be sorted, but I will support Baker House to the end!
we shall sail too.
Hmmm. Maybe I went overboard with all the special strengths. Should it be more like Hogwarts, where each house has just one or two special traits? (My assessment of these is as follows: Hufflepuff/loyalty and diligence, Gryffindor/bravery, Ravenclaw/intelligence, Slytherin/determination.)
?
OOOOOOOH! ideas are popping up all over the place now! what about an orchestral band, and then a collection of other non-classical yet exciting insturments. concerts would be grand.
Could curriculum be divided up in to sections like the ancient Greeks did it? or something other than the normal English/Math, ect.
83-We’d have to have a rockin’ marching band too, although we might be a few football players short of a team (understatement…)
MA would be mad rad. =D I’d be in Lasley, squee. Oh, and, uh, I totally second the elective PE, unless training OTTBs could count as PE. That would be neato, especially for this HMS-ified human thing. Oh oh oh, and if we had to have uniforms they would have to be from the Musery, just by default. =)
82-so then, what of the GAPAs?
Coontz-Geekiness????No, no, no…
Coontz House residents don’t have time to talk about themselves, because they’re too busy making life interesting for themselves and others.
87-ah, yes, yes. Busy, busy…
60- I decided the Queen was a little to presumptous. For my new name, look up.
Hey what about some Baker house specialities??? I have to go now, but I’ll come back and post some later.
This is going to be very interesting…
(77) Beeyootiful song, Kagy. *sniff* Makes me cry, it does.
(78) Then welcome to Lasley House, TNÖ. Sounds like you’re in the right place. (In fact, your comment 44 reminds me very much of me.)
(79) I do indeed remember, Jadestone. See what comes of corrupting your elders.
82 (Rosanne) – I think 2 or 3 would be fine, so maybe choose a few big ones, then we’ll have some that aren’t official or anything, but are definitely known to others at the school, such as pie-throwing
…Kokopelli is MA’s Peeves!
92- Yeah, he’s Peeves without a Filch, ’cause we (mostly) all love him.
MA should have a drama department. And a giant computer lab… with Macs AND Windows, for those people out there who just don’t like Macs. ‘Cause, you know, it’s really annoying not being able to work on Macs in school… and no Parellels on this computer (but just wait ’til I get my laptop…)
*ahem* And of course, any text books that come within the grounds to be used as an actual educational tool should be INTERESTING, as in not CENSORED.
Ooh, and there should be an on-campus museum.
And also a room dedicated to puzzles and mind benders and stuff.
:idea:TNÖ:idea:
Question for someone smart: Is light Energy?
If light is moving at the speed of light isn’t time frozen for it?
How does it change then?
Light is indeed energy, in the form of electromagnetic waves.
Time isn’t distorted as far as the light beam is concerned. According to Einstein’s special theory of relativity (“special relativity” for short), things feel normal to anybody moving at a constant speed, however fast. It’s the rest of the world that looks distorted.
For example, when radioactive particles are moving at close to the speed of light, they seem to us to decay more slowly and last longer. To us, it looks as if their internal clocks have slowed down. From a particle’s point of view, however, its lifespan is unchanged, but it has to travel a shorter distance (because the rest of the world gets distorted as it rushes past in the opposite direction).
yes! im in BAKER HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got to go
i have to find something unusual so i can teach it how to play the hurdy-gurdy
maby ill teach my dog
shes weird enough………………………………….
Is Paul around? If not, I’ll have to make up some strengths of Baker house.
Go ahead! Paul is probably busy overhauling a hautboy or something.
Thanks for the answer.
I asked my science teacher and she said I’d have to wait for high school physics ( I can’t wait!) so I’m glad I got the answer.
Science Rocks!
I’m in Coontz House!
Yarrr, yourself, Cap’n of Coontz House!!! I’ll try to post it here, later, but it’ll be quite complicated, I warn ye!
(99) Happy to help, but a short answer like that is no substitute for a physics course. You’ll have fun figuring out time- and space-dilation paradoxes.
94, 95, 99, 101- May I reccomend a site? It’s mostly harmless and all about physics! http:// www . colorado . edu/ physics/2000/index.pl The applets might take a while to load though… (I’ve de-linkized it.)
Rosanne, do I seem like a good Spector house cantidate? What are we like?
99- I agree on all accounts except not being able to wait for high school since I AM in hs, and the cootz house part. Although actually it would just have been easier to say “yeah, science rocks.”
sigh.

I think we now need to decide, officially, what the house color(s) and strength(s) are. What do people think?
Also, to tag onto Oxlin’s comment: Rosanne – do I seem like a good Spector house person?
*leads the lasley house in a rousing sing-a-long of the house song*
Adding to Oxlin’s and Pan’s questions: How about me? Oh no, I’m asking other people’s opinions of myself again. Oops.
56-
Can Lasley House please have a musical theatre speciality? I will be somewhat well-behaved *grumblegrumble* FOREVER if we do.
8- what happens if i get DDD?
I think we have to make one official rule: Muse Academy shall not have homework.

Coontz is rising as the largest house. Wow. Maybe I should transfer…or more people will join other houses. Something like that. If not, I could be baker.
(107) GotES, that goes without saying. Which must be why I forgot to put it on the list. Musical theater is my life. Well, one of them.
By the way, Gwendolyn, I used to live in Charleston way back when. Lived in the swamp, basically. I was in 5th and 6th grade and took drama classes at the Dock Street Theatre.
Charleston was also my parents’ first home as newlyweds. When they were expecting me, they told people they were going to name me Wesley Ashley Lasley (as in the Ashley River.) (They moved to Key West before I was born.)
Will all members of Coontz House please rise and join me in singing our house song:
Here we come! Now you die!
We’re the fighting Uruk-hai…
114- *giggles* *snorts* *bursts out laughing* *falls off the chair*
Here we come, now you die,
We’re the fighting Uruk-hai
And our soldiers are marching along!
Rip and tear, maul and crush,
Slice our en-e-mies to mush
As our soldiers go marching along!
So it’s KILL! KILL! KILL!
It gives us such a thrill.
Our numbers, you know, are thousands strong.
And we just can’t wait
To maim and desecrate
As our soldiers come marching along!
102-I found the site-but not the page. Are you sure it works?
I’ve read the hobbit twice and I read LOTR once when I was in 6/7 grade. It was a bit over my level. I should read them again.
Here we come, now you die,
We’re the fighting Uruk-hai
And our soldiers are marching along!
Rip and tear, maul and crush,
Slice our en-e-mies to mush
As our soldiers go marching along!
So it’s KILL! KILL! KILL!
It gives us such a thrill.
Our numbers, you know, are thousands strong.
And we just can’t wait
To maim and desecrate
As our soldiers come marching along!
Here we come, now you die,
We’re fighting the uruk-hai
We are Strong, we are brave!
We are silly all Day!
Coontz House, all the way.
oxlin widdershins (102),
People in Spector house tend to be very open-minded. I’d say that’s the predominant characteristic.
I think you’d fit in! (But of course I would, since I’m so open-minded :))
(Strong? Brave? Silly all day? I don’t remember those lyrics.)
I was joking, of course. “The March of the Uruk-Hai” is not the official house song and in no way reflects Coontzian values. Singing it loudly on inappropriate occasions, however, perfectly reflects the Coontz House value of making life interesting for ourselves and (especially) other people. So until an official house song comes along, you are heartily encouraged to belt it out whenever the spirit moves you
121-hmm yes. sounds like fun.
113- Oh, thank God they were kidding. I would never be able to look at any of your posts with a straight face if they did really name you that… and I would be painfully reminded of how weird southern people are.
You lived in Charleston?! I don’t live in Charleston itself… my dad is the general manager of a seafood franchise in downtown, but I actually live in a smaller town [geographic detail snipped] It’s a nice place. I like it. Loads of my favorite places to eat and go to are really close by, and Main Street is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. But I’ve been to the Dock Street Theatre many times. I assume you’ve heard the legend about the lady on the balcony and the lightning? Scared the crap out of me when I went for the first time. Granted, I was in third grade…. terribly jumpy through the entire performance.
I suppose you’re proof that you can live in the South for a good portion of your life and still grow up to be a pretty flamablamabulous person. It’s been a lifelong struggle for me, and I’m only thirteen!
Well, on to business! I propose that Lasley House’s first production be Wicked. I’m thinking I’d like to be Madame Morrible, but we’ll have to let the audition process sort out parts.
I think I would fit nicely into both the Coontz and Spector houses, but the sorting hat chose Spector, so I like it better (Sorry Robert, House pride)
Though I LOVE Lord of the Rings – I can write in Tengwar (Sindarin and Quenya), though I haven’t written a musical.
I would fir into ALL the houses! But Spector House fits me best.
Coontz House has a huge library of classic science-fiction books. Its weekly film series offers free hot chocolate and popcorn, always includes the 1937 (black-and-white) version of The Prisoner of Zenda, and celebrates the end of exam week with a marathon showing of all three uncut Lord of the Rings movies.
Gah! I’m so torn! The sorting quiz told be both Spector and Coontz, mainly Spector, but Robert! Are these showings open to all? and the library?
There’s not room for the whole school to attend, but a few members of other houses can squeeze in if they come early enough. The library, alas, is for house members only. Their guests may gaze on the collection with envy and longing.
hmph…. Hey, Rosanne, does *our* house have a library?!?
MA should have a library too though…
I’m open-minded (I think)
The LotR showings are always very crowded and a little rowdy. Students break into the Uruk-hai song whenever Orcs appear on screen, even though purists object that it refers only to Saruman’s legions in The Two Towers.
awesome song!
aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!! our library neeeeeeeeeKALSDJFGALKSHD;ver has the second book or i ha;sgh would hasjg;lahs *steam steam* have read them by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ASD:gjik ;ajs
AAAAAARGHAGHHGAHGHAIGWTOE!!!
oxlin widdershins (129)
MA definitely has a library that everyone uses. But Spector house has its own collection in a nook off the common room. The collection has three emphases:international comic books/graphic novels, cookbooks and maps/atlases.
126 (Robert) – EXAM WEEK?!?!? You’re kidding, right? Or is it just pie-throwing exams? Because those would be fun…
133 (Rosanne) – Can we steal a set of LOTR books from Coontz house for our library?
We call it Exam Week, but, as you surmise, MuseWeek examinations are different from exams at other schools.
The MA library is large and unusual. The non-circulating reference section alone would give you a complete if unorthodox education if you spent enough time browsing there. The collection also contains several shelves (underwritten by an eccentric wealthy donor) of literary works from around the world translated into Esperanto.
One charming MA tradition is the campus cookoff. Every equinox and solstice during the school year, the staff turns over the kitchen to the students, and the four houses compete to prepare the tastiest meals. No prizes are involved, just pride. (Coontz House is noted for its chili.)
Purple Panda (134),
The house library has a few shelves of favorite books (or book series). Each new student recommends one for the library to acquire. So LOTR could be yours.
On the other hand, you could steal a set from Coontz house if you can get past the pair of unfriendly cats that pounce on non-house members who choose to enter.
They’re cat statues, for heaven’s sake. The Egyptian goddess Bastet. We’re not that unfriendly. Coontz House may like to sing about “slic[ing] our enemies to mush,” but we’re really quite hospitable.
LotR paperbacks wear out fairly quickly around here and are replaced often. You may have some of our threadbare volumes when we’re done with them.
Fine. Paul isn’t around. Next post I will make up a song! Ha!
Baker house has the most interesting common room. It has ancient instruments pinned up on the walls, and music is always playing, often live by the band. The common room is always warm in winter, and cool in summer. A Baker tradition is to completely redecorate the house twice a year, once halfway through spring and once halfway through fall, to make it winter/summer appropriate. The Lasleys look on our “designs” with dismay. All members of the house are entitled to free cheese, and encouraged to wear Elizabethian costume. We have a huge library, and a gigantic CD collection of Elizabethian music.
Our strengths are:
Music
Cheese making
Costume making
Jumping off Victorian piers and trying to fly
Sports that we are good at:
Painting: Roller-on-a-wall section
Pie throwing
Cheese rolling
Bog snorkelling
Conkers
In keeping with its guiding chaotic spirit, the shelves of the Lasley House library are stocked completely at random. Luckily, each book is guaranteed to be so flamablamablous that the reader will become completely engrossed in looking at whatever volume falls to hand and instantly forget whichever book was originally sought.
Of course, the odds of ever relocating that precise book at a later date are admittedly slim, since there is no cataloguing whatsoever.
Full disclosure on that last point: it’s not so much that there is no catalogue system. It’s more the case that numerous systems have been initiated then abandoned until all the various attempts have become hopelessly commingled.
House legend blames this state of affairs on Exam Week activities, specifically Unsorting Day, a tradition in which we gleefully pull all the books from the shelves in the hopes of arranging them at last in some orderly fashion.
This effort is likely doomed from the start, since each individual may shelve books according to his or her preferred organizational system, but that is not the only hitch in the proceedings.
Method further descends into madness as many of our number sneak off through the secret underground passageway to the Coontz House library while residents of that house are preoccupied with the LOTR marathon. Coontz House categorically denies this, citing the unlikelihood that Lasley House residents could ever stay focused long enough to persist in the extensive effort required for building a tunnel.
Still, they can’t help being puzzled that some Lasleyans catch Coontzian SF allusions and in jokes. Furthermore, neither Snopes.com nor MythBusters has ever been able to refute our claim in spite of repeated attempts.
Please note that in comment 135, I was talking about the school library. As far as I know, nobody claims to have dug any secret tunnels into it.
126-i am SO sneaking into that.
must remember to get myself uniforms/badges/whatever we wear to distinguish houses in all house colours, so i can get into whichever house i want…
now i got CDB
i might be in Coontz
GRRR I DONT NOW WHAT I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think history should be the cartoon history of ….
LORD OF THE RINGS IS ASOME!!!!
i spelled asome wrong didnt i
136- Oh no! Dos that mean their aren’t any cats in Spector House? I love cats!
Come to think of it, I want to be in all four houses. I’ll steal Ebeth’s house uniforms every now and then.
(141, 147) I sense a tradition forming.
145- It’s awesome.
although we don’t really have to steal them…we ARE, after all, all musers here. i’m sure musers from other houses would lend uniforms if needed.
Ebeth, Alice, Rebecca- ooh, yes that’d be fun! All the houses sound like a lot of fun!
heh heh…
I borrow every LOTR book i can find from our library and head to the Coontz common room.
……………………………………………………….
Here we come, now you die,
We’re the fighting Uruk-hai
And our soldiers are marching along!
Rip and tear, maul and crush,
Slice our en-e-mies to mush
As our soldiers go marching along!

!!!
why is everyone going into all the houses!!!!
I HAVENT BIN SORTED OUT YET!!
Ebeth, Alice, oxlin w. — To borrow a phrase from Monty Python: attempting to pass yourself off as a resident from another house is strictly prohibited (but we encourage it just the same).
Wow, this is really long, what house am I in? I dont know how to answer those questions, they are too hard!!!!
DBD,hmmmmm
I CANT TAKE THIS ANY MORE!!!!!!!
WHAT AM I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alice (146): Cats are welcome. Dogs too. In fact, the house has a tortoise shell Devon Rex cat — and a large, purple, long-eared dog of unknown breed.
Oy, forget the quiz. Anyway, what’s going on? What’re Spector House’s strengths and colors, please?
I think I’ll build a tree house on/near the grounds and live there sneaking in to all of the houses at random times. Though I’ll probably be techincally in Spector house where I’ll stay. Wheen large purple dogs!
Shadowkat (158):
Spector house color: satiny red; house strength: open-mindedness.
139- LOL. I like this library…
GRRRRRRRRRRR I AM GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hm. I believe I’ll try designing the uniforms. If everyone will give me colors, I’ll see if I can scan them into the compy-comp.
We shall definitely be using robes or cloaks of some kind, no?
(163) Gwendolyn, regarding colors, Jadestone’s enhancement of Giminator’s original suggestion sounds good, to wit:
“Paul’s is obviously light green, white, and green blue plaid; Rebecca’s is hot-pink with a gold swirl, Rosanne’s is red(/with a rose with a very dark green stem) and sort of satiny; Robert’s is deep purple with a bit of green/blue and thick like velvet.”
I’d say cloaks or robes would definitely be in order.
i found the quiz [snip!]
Coontz all the way. Surprise surprise.
164-Lovely. Thank you. I’ll try not to make them too feminine or masculine, but chic and interesting enough to be worth of MA.
Perhaps a girls’ uniform and a boys’ uniform? *ponders*
I propose there be a house for people who are even blends of the other houses. Please post If you second my proposal.
Use google to find the quiz?
Uniforms are a good idea as long as their muse-ish.
160-Hot dog!!! I look gorgeous in scarlet (and deep green, which I’m assuming is the accent color)! And I’m very open-minded…please take my quiz, GAPA’s, you know where it is, and I want to see what you get!!! @_@
DBD, i think lasley would be good yes Lasley
POTOSHOPING MY BROTHER BEING CONTROLED BY HPB IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
160- Oooh, fun! I have a satiny red dress! It looks very medieval if worn with the right accessories. Yay open-mindedness!
I’m really, really torn between Spector and Coontz. I like the prospect of purple better than red but I was sorted into Spector and I’d fit in both. Argh. Someone needs to make a quiz with more questions. Anyone? Anyone?
oh, capes are a must. and i think jeans should be an option in all the uniforms, because while i love showing house colors and all, i really like jeans
also, i’m going to take s-kitty’s quiz too, because it’s probably more impartial
137 (Robert) – Oh, no, the Spector House is too good for your leftovers. You can recycle yours, and we’ll just get our own fresh copies – printed on recycled paper. Using vegetable inks and such. Yes, we’re environmentally friendly.
172 (Oxiln) – I was torn as well, but I’d say just do what the quiz tells you to do (I was 1/3 Coontz and 2/3 Spector). I’ve grown to like Spector house (who wouldn’t?), and the colors don’t really matter…obviously I prefer purple over red, but who says we can’t rebel and make color-switching badges? I’d say go with Spector
I think there should be a switch-houses day every month, where you can experience the other house, etc. Because that would be fun!
I’ll think aboot it.
the quiz can be easily found by googling muse acadamy quiz. it has not nearly enough questions though, needsto be improved. i seem to be gravitating towards lasley house. but spector house has computer building, and since that only takes the time it does, i asusume overclocking too…we need a better quiz.
(172) I wouldn’t agonize over it. All the houses are fine places to be. Once you’re in Muse Academy, you really can’t go wrong.
Without in any way wanting to dampen school spirit, I can tell you that some people take their house affiliations much more seriously than others do — wear only the house colors even when out of uniform, take part in (or cheer at) every inter-house competition, hang out only with fellow house members, etc. Other students, however, have friends in most or all of the houses and spend their waking hours wherever they please. These “citizens of the school” are perfectly happy and include some of the most popular students at Muse Academy. House membership is part of their identity, of course, but they don’t let it limit them. We’re all Musers, you know.
I like to be a part of my house. But some of my friends will end up in other houses, no matter what I do. So, I agree with you robert.
It’s all a matter of personal preference. Some people are more strongly tribal than others are. It’s nice to belong to a group, but people are individuals, too — Musers perhaps more emphatically than most.
Coontz House definitely has the best-looking robes, though.
I agree. I’m not going to refuse to hang out with everyone in a different house just because they’re not Spector, because that would just be silly. But I’ll always return to my dear common room at the end of the day.
177- hehe yeah “We’re all Musers here!”
I like my treehouse. And I think that house switch day sounds cool.
Is our color a darker red? It’d be pretty if it were about umm… 660022 or something.
Oh! and speaking of colors what are our *school* colors?!
Hey! I’ll be hanging out with everyone! We should have a common common room in a big hall with lots of fireplaces and jars that are kept constantly full with cookies and hot cider and cocoa and tea and coffee all ready if you need a snack.
(157) Coontz House, alas, has no cats or dogs in residence, because too many students are allergic to them, but it does host an ever-changing menagerie of small robots that members build in the school’s workshops. Some students also keep reptiles in terrariums in their rooms. Corn snakes and leopard geckos are perennial favorites.
179- No way! Baker’s are so the coolest uniforms. We get to wear Elizabethian costumes! (Or school uniform if you don’t fancy dressing up)
Of course we have cats and dogs! We have every type of animal – but they’re hypo-allergenic. The Coontz house has engineered hypo-allergenic animals. I would think you would know that, Robert, being the leader of that project.
The house is named after me, but I must admit that I’m not completely up to date on the nuts and bolts of its daily business. I defer to the knowledge of those who are better informed.
If students really are keeping “every type of animal” in the houses, however, we may have to discuss the matter at the next faculty meeting. We are, after all, running a school here, not Noah’s Ark. There is also the welfare of the animals to be considered. Not all creatures thrive in academic settings.
Aren’t you in Spector House?
187 (Robert) – Yeah, I meant “we” as in Muse Academy. And don’t worry, I think they’ve tamed them as well, so they should be relatively un-Noah’s-ark-ish. But if anyone is to get in trouble for this, it should be you, because you’re the one who started the whole project, remember?
179+185- no, no, Lasley’s are definetly the best uniforms!
184- I have a leopard gekko!
We need a new quiz. The one we use right now is kinda… lacking. You know?
coontz house dosent have any pets!!!!!!!!!?????????????
For house robes/uniforms there could be cloaks that you’d wear over your normal clothes.
To all worthie members of Baker House, greetings.
Likewise, apologies. For I have this daie (and shal bee uppon the morrow) a-playing at Hardwick Hall up in Derby-shire; a verie fyne and galant House, the like of which is not to be sene anie where, not even in London. Wherefore, alas, mine appearance uppon this Thread must perforce bee short and tardie; yet welcome all who weare the badge of Baker.
138 – Cinnamon Moon, in recognition of thy consideration and faire Invention in furnyshing our greate House with such a decorous Aspect, and fyne Musick too, I name thee House Prefect. Wel done, childe.
Methinkes I must differ a lytle, alas, uppon the prospect of repaintyng twice in eache yeare. How, then, is a noble sufficiencye of goodly Dust to settle uppon oure shelves and the bookes that lie thereon? For anie booke taken from our Shelves must sende forth a grete Cloude when blowne. Tis onlie meet.
Liekwise, should we consider againe oure House Colours? Methinkes I favour Burgundie and Golde, in the richest cloth as may be had. For there is virtue in pretension, and it marryeth wel with the exceding grete quantitye of Panelling, which must every where be seene.
As to the style, something simple. For the gentlemen, doublet and hose, edged and embothered with the House badge in golde. For the ladies, a faire Gowne, with all necessarie acoutrements benethe (as a bodice, curtal, farthingale, &c.). And every one with fyne Hatts in whate’er style taketh oure fancye.
Nowe, to oure Badge. With Bagpipes ile happilye concur, so that they bee not Scottish. For some thing to plaie uppon them, my fancie strayeth somewhat towards a hedge-pig; the whyche woulde, methinkes, appeare verie fyne in golde.
Lo, what saye youe, worthie Bakerians?
oxlin widdershins (182):
The color is deep dark red tinged with black. Like a dark red rose petal. In the sun it glows.
183- yeah.
84- We could play at pie wars! Right after they clean off the feild!
114- Ahhhhahahahaha…
166- Yes, but maybe you’d only have to wear part of it? I’d die without jeans. Maybe we could just wear a shirt/cloak/badge on fridays and whatever we feel like on weekends.
173- Ah, exactly.
what’s all this nonsense about baker house cloaks looking best? it’s our famed kilts that set us apart (optional of course). cloaks are useful in the cold secret tunnels connecting our common room to the secretHmhMhM, errrrrrrrr, I mean, cold of winter.
I doth believe there hath been a mistake occurring in the official listing of houses and their occupants because I’m not there.
As I took the quiz, it seemed as if I was in no house. I had a touch of Lasley, a touch of Coontz, and a touch of Spector. As I had met all three of them, I decided to go with my gut. Coontz was my role model, Spector did the stuff I always wanted to, but Lasley was undoubtedly the most similar to me. I don’t really know how I know that, but I am almost positive that I belong in Lasley House.

House symbol:
i do think i am lasley
192-worthie Founder Baker, wye must the ladies wear gownes? dost thou expect alle to be in fulle costume every daye? the fyne Hatts are no trouble, but this lady objects to gownes and sundry bodices and curtals and would fain prefer a doublet, swich as the gentlemen wear
198- join us and learn the song!
i am 1/3 lasley and 2/3s coontz
and that shall be my final anwer.
(192) Paul — Spector House’s color is dark rose-red. Coontz House’s is purple. Now you want burgundy. I think a bit more contrast is needed (especially as Lasley House has opted for hot pink).
Suggestions, anyone?
(192, 202) Besides, burgundy is already claimed by the Muse Academy seal.
I still like the gold. Perhaps we may have gold with a hint of burgundy?
Costume is optional. Hats are compulsory.
How about a faded gold-ish color? Like gold, but not quite as brilliant?
199- I doth expecteth to see that efficiency along side beauty be the heart of design, and would like to call forth a search for the most useful yet fashionable garments overlooked by the modern society today. Whichever dress or garment you should fashion I doth believe will suffice for your needs.
(192,203)~ an examination of the colour wheel proves that primary red to primary blue reveal a color range from orange to green not taken, mostly yellow. what if colors and “trims” are used? like burgundy and a trim of gold. or blue and silver.
Methinkes for the merrie song of Baker, it shall be something to the tune of Greensleeves.
(207) I was thinking the same thing. “…ta TUM tee-dee DUM House of BAAAA-ker.”
(206) Vendaval — Bakerites must watch their Elizabethan verbs. Please see my short-and-painless lesson on the latest Pie War Thread.
Would anyone object to me drawing a floorplan of MA? I see it sort of as a castle, with 4 towers at the corners. AT the top of each would be the house common rooms and dorms, and below them would be a few classrooms whos subjects centered around that GAPA. For example, under the Lasely’s tower would be an art room, a grphics class, ect, that she would direct. Then in the middle would be other classes, the library, and various recreations. This is just the first thing I thought of, though, and I don’t know what everyone else thinks of it like.
109- Yes! Exactly!
I don’t know what I want to be. I’m debating between Coontz and Lasley. Hmmm. I’ll go with Coontz I guess, but I’ll visit the Lasleyans a lot. I wish this was a real school. We would all be so much smarter if we were isolated from the pop-culture obsession of the scools we go to now. (unless of course you’re home-schooled, in which case I’m extremely jealous)
(201) Oooh, scary combination, Trojan Tiger!
Though, forgive me for noticing, but considering how long it took you to decide, I suspect you are more than 1/3 Lasley. I still can’t decide which house I should belong to. The quiz assigned me to LasleyCoontzBakerSpector, though results varied.
(209) At this point, I’d say anyone and everyone is free to design the Academy. If you come up with different versions, we’ll post them all and let other MBers admire them and choose a favorite.
211- You don’t have to take any notice of the pop-culture obsession.
I am still unsure as to where I would go. Probably either Lasely or Spector… the problem with quizzes is that I automatically sort the question answers into what ending answer they would count for, so it’s not really a true ‘quiz.’
202- dark blue pinstripe for the coontz house!
(203) Or choose all of them, as the case may be.
I’ve been working on a MA floorplan type thing too, though I don’t like it very much. My idea was really similar to Jadestone’s, though!
Well, this is kinda late, but lets see what house I’m in….

Hmm… seems I’m in Baker house!
Bah. Stupid HTML.
Sorry for the triple post, peoples. I’m tired today.
192-Umm… the badge is okay (bagpipes are da pwnage!) but hose and doublet? I wore those pant-like things once for haloween and had a serious wedgie. How about jeans and a T-shirt???
Hmm… I’m DAC, so… I’m in Spcetor House, with a bit of Coontz!
Although I had a tough time deciding between some of the questions. And I like cheese with non-animal rennet, and music. So I don’t know…
If Muse Academy is not accomplished in my school-age career, then I will come when I’m older, and help teach (Or I’ll sweep the floors for the robots–as long as I’m allowed to come!)!
I’m in Spector House. Cool.
223- Welcome!
222- Welcome also!–I take it you are in Spector House now?
*finishes second book, grabes third book savegly*
Where should the Academy be? Reykjavik or Chicago?
266- Reykjavik, no contest.
226- “A small island of the coast of Iceland.” I don’t think there’d be room for acres of rugged wilderness we could build on in chicago anyway…
226- CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to Spector house, Prarilius Canix, purplefinch and Jadestone (if this is indeed where you end up). Your other housemates are just now moving in.
As for where we are – Chicago or Reykjavik – it’s evident we’re in Iceland based on the basket of fresh-picked cloudberries Alice just placed on the house roundtable. They don’t grow in Chicago.
230- Will you acquaint us with the floor plan and class schedules, Prof. Spector?
Very well. A full Suit of Cloathes shal bee requyred onlie uppon Occasions of State, when much Ceremonie and Pomp is abroad. For ordinarie daies, a simple tabard shal suffice, emblazoned with oure House Badge.
Now, I have greate newes. The aforesaid House Badge hath suddenly bene made manifest by the kind and faire Mistress Rebecca. And a fine job shee hath made on it, too. I did but muse idly uppon a hedge-pig, and lo! shee hath drawn him, pipes in hand, and clad in proper vestment, and with such a comely aspect as shall delight all beholders. I wonder if I might prevaile uppon the good Lady to post him here, that all good fellowes as take the name of Baker might see him?
Meanwhile, to coloures. What say you, Bakerians, to gold uppon Grene? Mayhap Lincoln Grene, as Robin Hode was wont to weare?
We have satiny red- but we need a metallic color as well. Or is “satiny” enough of a metallic modifier?
1. Pie making
2. Pie throwing
3. Fencing
4. Dance
5. Building computers
6. Relating to computers
7. Language skills – English and otherwise
8. Botany
9. Flying
10. Storytelling
11. Dogs
These are the subjects Rosanne suggested. Can we make it “dogs and cats” instead? Otherwise I love it.
231- Yes, will you?
234- I think that Shadowkat is right and dark green should be the trim color, in which case satiny must be metallic enough.
235- I agree.
Here’s my suggested schedule.
Mon, Wed, and Fri
Per. 1: Fencing
Per. 2.: Computer stuff
Per. 3: Pie Making
Per. 4: Lunch
Per. 5: Pie Throwing
Per. 6: Storytelling
Per. 7: Dance
Tue and Thurs
Per. 1: Flying
Per. 2: Botany
Per. 3: Pie Making
Per. 4: Lunch
Per. 5: Pie Throwing
Per. 6: Language
Per. 7: Pets (including dogs)
Is the Professor pleased?
What house should I be in if I love the arts (dance, music, theatre, singing acting etc.), to be weird, science, the outdoors, I’m openminded, I love to learn about the world animals people etc, etc. I am really confused and teh first quiz at the top of the page didnt work for me, there wasnt a choice for my results.
lasley would probably be the best house for me but i like logic and my brother is in coontz house…
It depends on how you feel about your brother. You might get along well enough, but would you really want to share a house with him?
CHICAGO. Definitely definitely. Very Clean…ish….
Oh never mind. I was skimming, so it doesn’t make any sense now…
OK! Coontz house! We need to get organized! Schedules, Uniforms, Classes, anything else?
Schedule:
Lesse…
Mon
(I’m assuming Students will get up early enough to eat breakfast)
8:00Per. 1(something to wake us up. Likely an optional early class)Pie Throwing Advanced?
8:50Per. 2 Computering?
9:40Per. 3(people should be awake enough now)Animal Studies?
10:30Per.4 Pie Throwing?
11:20Per.5(Excercise Class. To get us hungry) Fencing?
time for lunch
12:55Per.6(something quiet)Pie Making?
1:45per.7(something unique to mondays)insturmenting?
2:35per. 8PIE WAR TRAINING!?
(we get free time early on mondays)
Tue, Thur
I must ponder on this. I’ll get it later.
Uniforms! Optional? It’s up to the head of our house. What do you think, Mr. Robert, Sir?
238 (PraCan) – What about writing? We have to have writing classes!! And literature. And such…!!
Quite pleased, Prarilius C. It’s a dream schedule. But as Purple P. points out, the schedule leaves out writing and literature — and a few other key subjects besides. One thing to keep in mind is that all houses will take classes together. Marvelous as the people in Spector house are, it would be a shame not to intermix with the other Muse Academicians.
Of course, we have house clubs and study groups to pursue our interests in areas left out of the general curriculum. Would you like to lead one?
246- Wouldn’t that kind of be included in “language”?
Monday, Wendesday
1. Fencing
2. Pie Making/Throwing
Lunch
3. English
4. Computers
Tuesday/Thursday
1. Language
2. Math
Lunch
3. Physics/Biology
4. Band/Choir
Fridays
1. Elective
2. Pie Making/Throwing
Lunch
3. Elective
4. Elective
Electives include Drama, Engineering, Geography, Art, Pets, Photoshop/other Computer art programs, Additional sciences, programming, writing, etc.
:idea:TNÖ:idea:
246- Writing is covered under storytelling. Literature under language.
247- Oh. All houses have the same classes?
*furiously begins redrafting*
Required:
English
Foreign (Choice of Mandarin, Icelandic, Spanish, French, German, and Old English)
Science
Pies
Math
History
Technology
Electives (must take two)
Advanced Pies
World Domination
Botany
Piloting
Music
Zoology
Art
Graphic Art
Sports: (optional)
Pie Tournament
Fencing
Silly Walks
Competitive Iambics
Beachcombing
Bog snorkeling
Conkers
251 (PraCan) – I don’t think there should be a list of languages you can take. I think the people in the class should decide what language they want to learn, then we’ll get someone to teach us.
I also think there should be a subject called “Writing.” Because, even though you said it is in storytelling, I think it’s too big to be combined into another name. Writing itself has so many categories that it deserves its own name.
Can Spector House write the school newspaper, or should we make that an elective that the entire school can participate in? I think, actually, it should be school-wide, now that I think about it.
i’d take fencing, band, english, old english, icelandic, gaelic, french, german, and more latin (oh, and elvish), some kind of science, most likely chem-related because i hated bio and i hate math, a bajillion history classes, especially a current events class, histories of china, japan, england, canada (wewt), czechoslovakia, and several religions classes especially norse gods and buddhism. Advanced pies and world domination are, of course (haha) a must, as well as silly walks and conkers. Different lit classes would be cool too, and definitely a shakespeare class and a chaucer class along with a sci-fi class (GOOD sci-fi. robert should teach this one :D) and mebbe some random writing classes (nano would be a requirement, and therefore a legitimate priority :P) Archaology would also be interesting, and the web tech class i didn’t have time to take this year Of course we’d need plenty of spare time to blog and read muse and listen to elvenking, so i guess we’d just have to stay at school for 8 or so years. (The school’s free to longtime musers of course) Ooh, and a cartooning class by larry g. would be fun. And of course we need a good theater program, which will also take up lots of time
252-definitely school-wide. although if we got enough people who wanted to do it, we could have a newspaper for each house
Required:
English

Advanced Pies

193-aaaand you just converted me. i am officially in spector house.
Hi, ddod. Glad to have you.
And in answer to the questions about the house’s trim color: It’s dark green.
230-Thanks!
I’d want to take just about every class…
255- I sure hope we can take more than two electives. How about “must take at least two”?
I want to help with the newspaper!
233- Methinkes that Golde upon Grene shall grace our fine house nicely!
Slightly random, kind of side note-we’re reading the cantebury tales in brit lit, which is rockin’, but we’re reading some lame translated version. MA is against abridged books, right? and middle english all the way!
Okay, Spector house it is. I’d probably fit better there after all, as although I do enjoy drama and such I’m not in drama-mood (hyper, exuberent, look-at-me ish) most of the time. And I’m not that great at visual arts…
I suppose that though our colors are red and green, things like the house badge/any jewelery we come up with (got to have some!) would have a silver backing while, say, Baker house would have a gold-colored backing as that’s one of their colors. But deep red and dark green are our main two colors.
(261) It’s probably edited for content as well. Ours was, as I wasted no time in finding out.
Chaucer is definitely taught in Middle English at MA. And the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in Old English. (Old and Middle English was one of my majors in grad school, so I have very strong feelings on the subject.) Translations are allowed for reference.
Ah ha! thanks for that grammar lesson. irregular verbs have never been my strongest point.
how should semesters be set up? four quarters and an optional summer session?
261 – The trouble with translations is that they’re dependent on the translator. A rigid word-for-word translation almost always sounds stunted, so to get the feel of the original, a translator has to interpret, and insert equivalent idioms which never mean quite the same thing. It’s murder with Chaucer, because you’re never quite sure if he’s joking, and the ambiguity was probably quite deliberate. Translating accurately, but maintaining the ambiguity, is a hideously difficult task. It’s much easier to plough though the original until you can understand most of it. That way, you get proper Chaucer, and he’s FUNNY.
why has coontuz house not posted much?
here is the scudle:
mondays:
6:00 (we get up early) – wake up
7:00 breakfast
8:00 math
8:45- elictive (choose from: advanced LOTR, how to be a geek in 15 easy steps, factoids)
9:30- science
10:15- muse studies
11:00- pie thorwing
11:45- lunch
12:30- house time
1:15- computers one-o-one
2:00- are the bunneys evil?
2:45- ?
So what’s the Spector house schedual? and shall we have a house song?
Hm. I’ve been working on the uniforms. It’s rather difficult, as there have been squabbles over precise colors. I have the basic garments of each uniform decided, however.
MUSE ACADEMY UNIFORMS
Girls
-Floor-length robe with long, flowy sleeves (mandatory within academy building)
-Double-lined synthetic fur cloak cloak (for cold weather)
-Choice of mary-janes, sneakers/hi-tops, or sandals (high heels discouraged due to their impracticalness, but permitted)
-Skirt in any style, ranging in length from just above knees to the floor
-Choice of mary-janes, sneakers/hi-tops, or sandals
-Pants in any style, so long as they don’t have any massive rips in them.
Boys

-Double-lined synthetic fur cloak cloak (for cold weather)
-Choice of sneakers/hi-tops or sandals
-Kilt of any kind
-Choice of mary-janes, sneakers/hi-tops, or sandals
-Pants in any style, so long as they don’t have any massive rips in them.
ALL HEADWEAR IS PERMITTED; ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS DRESS (SARIS, HIJABS, ETC.) OF ANY KIND IS ENCOURAGED
I thought it was pretty lenient. Suggestions?
Sounds good.
267- See 255.
268- yosh, it is lenient, aand no.
hmmm… schedules are hard… hmmm…
I like it. You neglected to say anything about shirts, though. And you should be allowed to wear boots. (Not Wellingtons, nice fashionable ones.) I couldn’t part with my lace-up boots.
242- i shall be in thee Coontz House
268- can i wear shorts???
oxlin widdershins (267),
There seems to be some confusion about house schedules. Does each house have a schedule? Or do students from various houses intermix during classes? I was under the impression that the classes were mixed. But now I’m wondering if I’m seriously mistaken. I’ve been busy in my office studying seeds of the alpine marsh violet (viola palustris) and have slightly lost touch with reality.
About a house song – We do need one!
And to Jadestone (262) – House members individualize their robes, seals and other house-themed adornments with shiny metals of all types.
C++DM, comment 273 is exactly what l was talking about.
l love the dresscode, tho. For headresses, l’d wear a gasa or a helmet, or my giants hat. l have 22 pins!
How about there are essential classes:
English
Foreign
Science
Pies
Writing
Math
History
Technology
All houses take these together.
Then there are specialty classes, specific to a house. The Heads of House decide on these.
(274) We established earlier (or tried to) that classes are for the whole school. Though perhaps Houses could have special seminars, workshops, or invite guest speakers, etcetera. They just wouldn’t be part of the official curriculum.
As Robert said earlier, Houses are for residence, identity, and friendly competition. We want everyone to have plentiful opportunities to get to know the others.
I think we should definitely take classes together. How about we all decide what the core curriculum is, then we can make a list of electives.
Here are some of my ideas for core classes, which everyone takes:
-Writing
-English
-Mathematics
-Science
-A sport of some sort/some kind of physical activity
-Pie Studies (which would include Pie-throwing, pie-making, and the history of pies).
-Social Studies
-Language
These are the basics, but I’m sure people can make more core classes. But, not too many, because we always have electives to take care of the more specific classes.
268-ooh. i like. how abouts spikes, inverted crosses, pentagrams and whatnot? kilts are teh pwn.
271- Oh, I had sommat about shirts in there, but I think it got swallowed by something or the other. And I remembered boots and shorts briefly after I had entered the comment. Allow me to amend this.
-Shirts should cover the midriff and not be overly-revealing (in the words of the old Polish women in the play I’m doing in drama, we shouldn’t be able to see “all the way down to Fatima!). They must have a breast pocket that features the symbol of their house.
-Boots of any type are permitted.
-Shorts are acceptable in the warmer months. Students are expected to know what is appropriate when it comes to skirts and shorts.
The ethnic/religious garb is, like all other clothes, will still be worn under robes while within the indoor confines of the grounds.
279- As long as you are careful not to directly offend others. Don’t be a DIRP.
279- Heh heh heh.
281-I get what you mean, but a what?
I thought classes were mixed too, until the scheduals seemed to be for one house. I like mixed scheduals a lot better though as then you can get to know non-house MA-ers!
the electives are uniunie to the house. the GAPA’s persona helps decid the electives. coontuz is geeky, and so there is LOTR (advanced), being a Geek. and factoids.
discription:
LOTR (advanced)
all students must have a set of LOTR, the LOTR muse issue, and a set of the movies.
we will study the books, magizenie, and the movies before the mid term.
“Geeky”? Moi? I beg your pardon.
I think the house takes its character from the students who belong to it, not vice-versa.
Spector electives? I vote for fencing and dance.
285- gib-gib-giiber! sounds good. LOTR muse? really? really? Iwantone!!!
275- Huh? whats wrong?
yah, it’s more fun if the classes are mixed.
this thread sure moves fast, whew!
I plan on taking the LOTR elective despite my noticible lack in Coontz house membership. Ha. So there.
apperantley a dirp is :A bumbling idiotic substitute teacher that randomly hits himself in the head with a hammer, and saying Dirp.
281- That’s an incorrect usage of DIRP.
290- Jeez, did you read the HG2MB?
(232) How could I refuse a request thus courteously presented? There is more work to do yet, but here is a sneak preview of the bagpipe-playing hedgepig under discussion.
if you make the Coontz house picture thingamabob, can l help?
287-I agree!
292-Ooh! It’s adorable…
Muse Academy should have a band!
GAPAs – I made a Spector-house-thing yesterday and sent it to you, did you get it? I must admit it was pretty depressing, but it was nicer than a plain bold-and-regular-text list i could type up in one of my posts.
I think electives should be school-wide too. Each house gets to help decide the electives and help choose them, but everyone can take them.
DIRP= Dumdum In a Responsible Position
I think that everyone should be able to take any of the classes. What fun is it otherwise?
297-good point. You’ll just need to sign up for the ones you want.
268- I disagree. Baker house wears fine hats, and has the option of costume. As long as that is included, fine.
My school is really strict on no hats indoors, but I can’t see the problem, as long as they don’t interfere with school.
I think I am in the Lasley house!
292-I LOVE IT!!!
260-Yesse, I totallie agrrie. Thate shalle bie aie verie goodde combinationne offe colorres. Orre, Ie suggestte blackke. Blackke isse da(i) pwnagge.
280-Yeah, booty shorts and belly tank tops are sexy, but only when you have a six pack and are Rihanna.
Personally, I don’t like hats, but whatever. Here’s the classes I reccomend:
(Required)
Language
Arithmatic
History (of Musica as well as Earth)
Technology
The Art of Pie
Other Language (dunno what languages)
Fitness
(Electives: Must take three)
Advanced Pies
World Domination
Music
Zoology
Art (including graphic art)
Sports: (optional)
Pie Tournament
Martial Arts and Fighting (Choise of Fencing, Karate, Tie Kwan Do, Tie Chee, Kung Foo, Judo, Firearms, and Boxing)
Silly Walks
Silly Talks
Bog snorkeling
Conkers
Muses of Muse
(Activities and Special Topics)
Harry Potter Character look alikes
Musebook Planning
Muse Acadamy Newspaper
Muse Chess
Dance/Party Planning
Non-Muser Study
Kokonvention Planning
Telivision and Video
Hmmm… I’ll try to plan a demo scedual later.
I was going to say something about tank tops durring the very hot days when we’re outside doing sports or something, when I remembered: We’re in Iceland… I don’t think it’s going to get extremly hot…
Oh and: Heating in all the rooms is a must. We can have a few draft corridors for dramatic purposes, but otherwise… *shiver* (yes, I know Iceland is greener than Greenland and all, but it’s still rather north)
I think that we do not have grades. Eg. you can do ap math in ninth grade of your good.
From Purple Panda:
Very well done, PP. Five points to Spector House!
Which brings up another question. Will we be having a house point system, and if so, who will be awarding the points?
How about this system: Anyone may add or subtract points from any house, and nobody keeps score.
302- what about writing (as a class)? and theatre (as a class)? we should have plays. And we should have a literary magazine.
305- Splendid! *gives points to everyone for fun*
I like Robert’s system. I’m awarding Spector House an additonal 613 points for Purple Panda’s magnificent house list. And Lasley House gets 613 for Gwendolyn’s idea of awarding points.
Anything special about 613?
How about there are two types of points awarded: Pie points (for being good), and HPB points (for being bad). So there’s no need to subtract points – you just award the point you think fits.
I award Coontz house 42 points for their fantastic Uruk-hai song, and Baker house 42 points for their excellent music playing in the halls of MA between classes!
293- no. no. e- je- je- je -jee-je-jeejee! i know what your pictures look like!!! *shivers*
307- ishshshshsheshshe. sound good.
311- I’ll bet there is. Just can’t think of what it might be…
313- They’ve changed since l took computer graphics. Look at another bevvy of bunnies.
With all martial arts, can there be classes for those who already know a sport and want to play and another for those who want to learn?
If you don’t keep count of points, what’s the point ?? *hehehe*
We should probably keep score, but there is no need for house championships, you can just award the winning house bunny-shaped cupcakes.
316- Well, obviously, the point of not keeping score is avoiding to much inter-house rivalry. And everyone can get bunny cupcakes at the end of the year.
291-actually no……should i? it wasnt around when i came.
305-me too! and have ye got a higher res version… i wish to modify.
*goes to read the hg2mb*
*apologizes for triple post, along with lack of knowledge of normal MB terms* feel free to zap, triple posts are not good.
Whee!!!!!! 613 points!
315- really? i sure hope so.
305-or even better, a .psd? everyone should be able to modify. (everyone is spector house, that is. :P)
303-sorry for not reading everything, but iceland?!?! why iceland… i mean, i like the north and all, but iceland is just… boring. i know. i’ve been there.
304- yes, we certainly do not have grades. my friend’s sister goes to hampshire college, and they dont have grades, due dates etc. it works very well, if you’re into the hippie thing. which we all are, i presume.
317-well then, whats the point of points ? really, if points have no significance, no one cares if they get points.and i agree, house rivalry is bad, but whats wrong with a little friendly competition, to make points valuable?
312- i like that. but shouldn’t hpb’s be good? i like hpbs…..
Yeah, look at another bevy of bunnies.
323- We HAVE friendly competition, with sports ‘n’ stuff. I figured the points would be something of a joke, like awarding virtual choklit or something. And no, HPBs are, as a general rule, not good. See the latest SSSS if you don’t believe me.
This is driving me nuts. I’m on a school computer, don’t know how to do umlauts on windows. Phooey.
:idea:TNO:idea:
huh. kk.
323- because iceland has 100% literacy.
How about the points are actually counted, just the place where that number is hidden somewhere in the school. So everyone is constantly looking for it to see what house is winning in points and such. And if someone finds the “counter,” it moves somewhere else right after they get a glimpse of it, so they can’t reveal the location to everyone else. And the person who found it knows the number at that time, but also knows that the number will always be changing.
DOSE ANYONE KNOW THAT I AM HAVING A SERIESE PROBLEM ABOUT WETHER IM IN COONTZ OR LASLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chill out.
329 – I hardly know you, but why don’t you describe some of the reasons why you would like to be in each and that might help you figure it out. Which GAPA do you think you more closely resemble?
331- yeah
l don’t think she knows.
317-But if you GET points, what’s the point– whatever…. *shuts up*
325-Yeah, HBP’s are NOT good. But that’s what makes them so Pwnsome. Bad bunnies=awesome=not the Playboy Bunny
311-Yeah, thats what to do. TrojanTiger, CHILL!!! Just talk this out and we might get somewhere.
looks like I’m taking french, math, history, technology, art o’ pie, japanese, fitness, advanced pies, world domination, fencing, muse chess, and video. Packed, but I can spread it through the week.
Alice (311),
The number 613 does turn out to be special. It’s the number of commandments from God in the Old Testament!
Purple Panda (328):
That idea about the disappearing points counter is deranged. I love it!
328- Oh, that’s the best idea yet! me likes.
336- lsn’t that supposed to be 10?
l take all the mandatory classes, Japanese as a language, advanced pies, fencing B (fencing team, for expirienced fencers), world domination, and graphic art.
327- no country has 100% literacy. iceland has 99%. then again, so do almost all western countries.
328-*votes in favor*
336-wow. lotta commands, huh? i wonder how You’re supposed to keep track of them all…
ill take….tennis, silly walks, world domination, and music. plus the requireD classes and whatnot.
Wikipedia says: 613 prime number, centered square number. In Judaism there are 613 mitzvot, divine Commandments. Jewish belief has it that there are 613 bones in the human body. And something about basketball.
339- Those are only the commandment Moses got, I think the others are older and less important.
Wow can they believe that there are 613 bones in the body?? That’s proven false!
328- How would that move? We don’t have access to magical powers. Sadly. But I like the idea.
343- We could employ a couple of really bored people to run out, grab the counter, and race off with it after someone gets a glimpse.
343: One of the Muses moves it, but you never know who
343- when someone spots it, in viible ink goes on it, and takes a hover craft to the next place.
what if you like so many of these classes (and more) than are physically possible to fit into a weekly(7 day) schedule?
Dude, our website is up. And for the scehdule, just get a time turner.
347- um, summer progam?
now to see who’s in my classes…
Re subjects – as far as I can see, no-one has yet suggested :
Boat building
Jousting
Cheese making
Creative Horticulture
Aquarium building
Piracy
Kite surfing
Tunnel digging
Maypole dancing
Bungee jumping
Robotics
Any other suggestions?
351-oho! must…add…piracy to schedule….is boating already on there? Mountain climbing?
I think we should also have some more normal sports, because I really like tennis and would miss it a lot. Hockey too, but I don’t know how many people would be able to play, so I’d be fine with just random free-for-all games of it on random patches of ice in winter. But tennis is a must.
Accents from Around the World

Debate, with two catagories (Hot Topics/Cool Topics) for people to shift between if they get tired of arguing a lot.
Good idea for 2 debate forums.
Good greif, I haven’t said anything on this thread! I’ll try to catch up…
Oh! Oh! We forgot return address making! I love that.
Please stop suggesting stuff. my schedule’s full.
As to piracy, we’ll have an annual pie-rating party. At the end of the school term, all the students board the school ship bearing a pie they made themselves for the GAPAs to rate. The winning pastry is the top scorer for taste, maneuverability, and impact.
*joins kite-surfing class*
357-jeez! get a time turner!
help! I went to get my books, and now I am drowning in them.
*needs to lighten load.*
I am in eavery thing!
Here’s my list of core classes. Then we’d also have electives which you’d take during the school day, and sports which you do on your own time. Also, how many years would Muse Academy be?
CORE CLASSES
English:
–Each year you take a different level of English, and study different things…
Mathematics:
–I don’t know if you should take a different class each year, or if you should
Science:
–You can choose your sciences, but you must take one every year. Popular sciences include: Astrophysics and Biochemistry.
Pie Studies:
–Each year you do a combination of many different things, including: Pie-throwing (aerodynamics and such), Pie-making, and Pie-war history.
Social Studies:
–I’m not sure what courses to have, but here are some ideas:
World History, World Cultures, World Government, Muse History, Muse Culture
Language:
–Each year, you choose a different language. You must take two years of a language to become fluent, and you may pick ANY language you would like. Popular languages include: Arabic, French, German, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, English, Elvish, Klingon, and Russian
woah, haven’t been on here in a while!
265-yah, the version we’re reading has him being serious (at least i think so), and it’s incredibly boring.
274-I think classes should be mixed
286-don’t deny it robert, we like you better when you embrace your geekiness
292-bagpipe-hedgepig love ♥ spiffy drawing!
323-iceland is spiffy and never gets too hot
328-that is absolutely brilliant and flamablamablous
yay, i’m all caught up! now i can go do my real-skool hw and dream of being in MA instead…
I like PP’s schedule.
Oh, Purple Panda? Would you politely ask your sister to GET DOWN TO THE ETHETERRE EDIT THREAD RIGHT NOW! grrr… *pant, pant* Sorry. I get fractious without something to write.
364 – I’ll copy+paste your comment into an email
…She needs a reminder sometimes, well, actually, all the time. She hardly ever comes on MB anymore! *cries*
I emailed her!
i want elvish + japenese as languages!!!
i havent made schedule yet. have we desided the classes?
i what to take elvish and klingon!!!!!!!!!and muse history
wow, posts have slowed down quite a bit.
Spector House, Yay!
Let’s see, classes I would want to take, other than the mormal ones:

Drama
Forensics
*Karate
Reading
Writing
*Celtic Runes
*Metalsmithing
*Beading/Jewelry Making

372- yes, but there FUN!
I like tests. They mean i don’t have to do all the random homework teachers like to torture us with to get a decent grade.
373-and hopefully they’re not the boring kind where you sit at a desk. They should be physically fun.
AAACK! nobody’s posted here? why is that? post here! i have nothing else to say…
JUST ‘LETTIN YOU KNOW I’M ALIVE
377- I’m not.

We have improv classes in MA, don’t we?
Muse Academy is one never-ending improvisation. That’s how it’s been so far, and I see no reason for it ever to change.
378-Poor Alice…’twill be alright, my dear…this is not the only Improv Class, trust me.
So, uh, what do we have so far, and have we started anything other than planning?
Wow, 380 posts already. Looks like time to start Part Two.
