I think that the Hitch Hikers Guide was a stupid, low budget movie and the books were probably better. Sorry.
Sung to Oh Christmas Tree
Oh woe is me
Oh woe is me
I used to have a hamster tree
But then a newt ate it up
And now I have no more cud’ly fruit

What sort of information needs to go into the HG2MB apart from user profiles?
Oooooooooo. Abarat is a great book, and if you like it, you’ll like it’s sequal, Days of Magic Nights of War. Maybe a third book wil be comming out soon
Perhaps bits of advice/ways of the forum?
Ex:
1)Keep threads on subject
2)Reconsider submitting outside links
3) All birthdays/events are to be celebrated as the submitter of said event prescribes.
4)Consult Phoenix for all legal/Belgariad related matters.
5) Proofs are evil.
6) Never partake in an insult contest with The Chairman, as you will be vanquished most pitifully.
And we could have a glossary of sorts.
Leet ( Also “1337”) Way of writing with symbols and numbers. Name derived from the “elite”, that is, the elites of the internet, etc.
Pwned See “owned”. Because of the common misspelling of “owned”, pwned has become a leet word.
Eragon See” copy of the Belgariad” Best Selling bookseries that I never actually finished reading. Yeah.
LotR Really. You should know by now.
And such. I’m up way too late as it is, can someone else add an/ think of a superior idea?

Perhaps our own twisted versions of the Golden Rules of the Blog That All New Bloggers (and Olde Ones Too) Should Know (GRBTANBOOTSK) should be included, just to see what we think. They do not have to be on the Rules page.
The Golden Rule of RRF:
If insanity is not for you, leave the site. Right now.
Ritzu, please don’t cuss. If you have to, write @%#^&*!
when did Ritzu cuss?
(Chintsu- My older brother is a sophmore at Grinnell! This is really weird that you’re from there also..)
Lizzie

Likes: Violin, violin, violin, books, classical music, some rock, some jazz, folk music, chocolate, milk, Muse, computers, calculators, programming, math and English, no homework, and soup.
Dislikes: Jerks and idiots and bullies (not referring to people on here), proselytizing, homework, Spanish class, tests, etc.
She said…
*gulp*
“crap”.
I AM ONLY QUOTING IT, PEOPLES!!
Okay, okay, I am used to cussing. All the kids in the back of my old bus used to do it all the time. I’m just not very comfortable w/ it.
Believe me, “crap” is mild compared to a lot of stuff. Plenty of people (me included) don’t even really consider it a swear word. But if it makes you uncomfortable, KitKat, we can try and watch it.
crap is not really a swear word. trust me, i know swear words. high school-home of the champion cussers.
i von’t say crap though. whoops. too late. seriously though it is now on my list of things not to say on the museblog if you don’t want the GAPA to delete it!
actually i don’t have a list. BUT I SHALL MAKE ONE NOW!!
Things Not To Say On The Museblog If You Don’t Want The GAPA To Delete Your Post
the masses: *hold breath in anticipation*
ebeth: *dramatic pause*
the masses: *turn blue*
ebeth: *keeps dramatically pausing*
the masses: *keel over and die*
ebeth: oh good i don’t have to write a list now!
hah. just kidding. um…ok. here goes
1. No swearing (crap included (ah my post’s gone now!))
2. No proposing to people online (no matter how cool they are) I have a funny feeling nobody wants to marry you. (ooh! diss y’all!)
3. No dissing y’all (heh. there goes another bit of my post)
4. No dissing the Q&A
5. No dissing Muse
6. No dissing the GAPAs. They. Rock. Period. Actually that’s four periods there. Make that five. No six. No seven! hah!finally an end to the vicious cycle! Use all exclamation points!
7. No dissing the musebloggers.
8. No dissing the editors.
9. No dissing the musers
10. No dissing the muses
11. No dissing the brits who like to come on and tell us americans how cheese-deprived we are (hem hem who would that be?) in other words, the crazy guy that’s not really in any of the categories. either that or he’s in all of them.
12. No dissing cool stuff.
13. No dissing cheesy old black+white errol flynn movies.
14. Did I mention that dissing isn’t cool? (heh. another reason for the GAPA to delete my post)
15. Bribes help. I’ve heard the GAPAs like choklit.
ok guys it’s 10:50 so just excuse my insanity. oh yeah and i’m procrastinating. that always helps.
add stuff on peoples!!! this is my wonderful *ahem* contribution to the HG2MB!
Cool, Lizzie! My dad teaches Biology there. And he’s a geek. A cool geek. (he told be to say that) Ask your brother if he had my dad last year.
tings a forgot to post
Offline:8th grader at W—– Elementry. Play flute, but is lazy and doesn’t practice. (We play cool songs though) Stresses to much about her grades. Her teachers keep telling her to LIGHTEN UP.
Doesn’t Like: George Bush, people who cuss every other word, that is RAINS too much here, people who use “Jew” as an insult.
I’m beginning to feel that everyone on here is a liberal democrat. I’m a conservative republican, and it’s discouraging to me to think that all the people on here are the exact opposite. Does anyone else have teh sme political leanings?
No, we’re all liberal democrats.
:-). Sorry. Just had to say that.
I’m more liberal but I don’t really like to stay in the lines of a party; I’d rather go by whether I support the person’s views. However, if I am at a kids vote polling thing or something and if I have no clue on the cantidate’s views I will vote for the DFL endorsed one. So basically I’m a democrat. Don’t feel discoraged though! We are still nice people even if we don’t share political views. If you start judging by political views you’ll end up disliking a lot of people in the world. The world is probably half liberal half conservative. (probably other things as well)
I’m a liberal Democrat, but I agree with E-A that people with different political views can still get along. I have extraordinarily liberal friends and extraordinarily conservative friends, and they’re all cool. We sometimes have heated debates about politics, but we’re still friends. It’s hard to be the only (or one of the only) ones, but as long as we don’t try to start killing each other over whether George Bush is competent, we can just agree to disagree.
I just read that comment again, and it sounds way too much like Mimi for comfort.
Why…you don’t like Mimi???
*sighs*
heh. it is a little bit like mimi. very true though…some of my friends have waaaaaaaay different political ideas than I do.
but now there’ s a thread for that, so back to the HG2MB.
……………..
……………..
I have nothing to say for the benefit of future musebloggers. so sad. I’ll think of something later. sry peoples!
“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Museblog has this to say about politics. That is, it depends on which one you agree with. Since in an infinitely improbable universe there are an infinite number of people to agree with, an infinite number of people who can agree or disagree with them, and an equally infinite number of people who just don’t care, it is best, for any sentient being who wishes to remain so, to just bugger off and not give a load of dingo’s kidneys. Furthermore, power, like so many other things in the galaxy, is vastly overrated.”
There are three basic Museblog tenets. They are:
1. Be eloquent.
2. Be useful.
And that of tertiary importance, which some will dispute as vastly, totally, and completely wrong:
3. Argue as much as you want to.
I won’t bother putting up a profile of myself, but if anyone wants one, I’m here.
Well, hello, Your Majesty. Nice of you to drop by!
(36) No! NEVA! MIMI BE KEWL!! YO!
A wonderfully long passage about the thoughts and minds of MuseBloggers was edited out by the editors. (Who else?)
The following remains:
If they weren’t mostly harmless, they’d be terrifying.
Oh, we know you’re not harmless. You wouldn’t be much use to the Ko-konspiracy if you were. Oh, what a glorious destiny awaits you! But we’re not allowed to talk about that.
Someone said something about Grinnel? A College? In Iowa, I think? My class’s assistant teacher went there! Named Jill Tani. Anyone know her?
Sorry, but no. I used to live in Grinnell and will be back there in June. I’d ask u to visit, but we’re not allowed to post addresses.
ChinTsu, I don’t mean to be clueless, but why did you move to Hawaii for a year? It seems kind of strange to me, and I would be glad if you would enlighten me.
OK, OK, I’ll be useful. As useful as I can manage to be. *Ahem*. No rude words, thematic elements, or anything you have to question on the Museblog. Shakespearean quoting, like most, shall be used in abundance. (Think Rumpole of the Bailey.) Wisecracks are free game. Never post so nobody knows who you are, and seniority is appreciated. 1337 shalt be useth in moderation. As will exclamation marks, hyperactive behavior, and pretending to be British. If one art British, thou hast free rein on British-ness. Also, NO direct attacks on other users, though one may disagree with their ideas.
Speaking of which, Mr. Coontz sir, we could put nationality on the Who’s Here Page, as well as age. (Me, Morbid, Alise-Adae, Chin-Tzu are Gaboomba original fans. Kitkat, randomrohanfreak, Ebeth, etc. are New Wave, next generation MBers. Ad infinitum.)
Hey, I’m Gaboomba original too, although I didn’t come along until the 2nd archive..
Seniority doesn’t confer status around here. MuseBloggers are MuseBloggers. Still, it’s nice to know that it’s humanly possible to survive for so long in this seething cauldron of madness.
Oh. I apologize profusely, Lizzie. No offense meant. It is a seething cauldron of madness, Mr. Coontz sir. I wholeheartedly agree with you. At the collar (-high, but you froods know that) risk of being controversial and shot down in a Dawn Raid (having the webmaster send your post to the dustbin), I would also like to discourage any sort of out-of-control posting (WHEE!!!! i am so hyper…choklit is really good, like sugur and other substanzez) and, though I might have now sunk into the risk level and be over my head, actually attempt to ban Dawn Raids and anything that contains the word “hyper”.
Montgomery, darling girl, moving somewhere for a year isn’t strange at all in my circles. My LA teacher, and most of the grubs at school in fact, have friends from preschool. PRESCHOOL. At junior high I am not in contact with anyone from before 3rd grade. I’m not trying to put down childhood buddies, it just gives me a bad taste in my mouth.
nooooooo…half of my posts would be gone if you banned that word!!!
at least you spelled choklit right…
my friend moved to Australia for 6 months last year. I sent ther the Muse issue with the vicious box jellyfish. she thought it was cool.
For the rules, you mustn’t forget:
Remember, we’re all Musers he– *Phoenix is cut off as everyone rushes her, tackles her, and shoves a sock in her mouth*
Ah. That Which Must Not Be Said.
My stomach just beeped. I swear. I think one rule should be no putting down others within debates. Yep. Even though we don’t. Because this post has to have some relevancy to the topic.
any body with free time on their hands should right something about a topic, only go wildly off topic, oh and be funny.
erm…your stomach just beeped? is that normal?
*gasp* axa’s a robot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what? Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
never mind. i like robots. anybody here read foundation triligy or i, robot? (hint, hint phoenix)
I knew it!
knew what? are you accusing me? i have only been bugging you to read those books for over 2 years……..
here I’ll say it
Remember, we’re all musers here.
there!!!!! deal with it!!!
No, I said ‘I knew it’ about Axa being a robot. I am discreetly ignoring the Foundation Trilogy thing.
No my secret ahas been revealed! Whhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy-
:dies:
I was on the Gaboomba too, if briefly. Hehheh.
Other things to put on the new HG2MB (Vol.2):

Museful Songs (Hamster Tree, Muse Theme Songs, all that)
Anything to add, peoples?
Ooh, the five-or-so-book Foundations Trilogy is good! Isaac Asimov is one of my favorite authors.

To the Museblog Glossary:
PB and J = Paul Baker’s nickname, invented by Ebeth in the Guy Fawkes thread.
Shwams = Renniasance instruments, what you should ask your band teacher to get a chorus of.
Pwt pwns = “Pwt (the muse) owns”. To be made into a universally worshipped bumper sticker – someday.
Gaboomba = the orginal Museblog. Formula unknown.
I HATE THE LLAMA SONG.
Don’t we have something better to do with our time? A new webpage every 60 seconds and the best you earthlings could come up with is a LLAMA SONG?!?! ABOUT LLAMAS?!?! If you MUST, deal with alpacas or something. Try not to make the mice puke. Matter of fact, try not to make me puke.
Llama song. Share and enjoy!
The Q&A column dealt with both llamas and alpacas (as well as vicuñas, guanacos, and plain old-fashioned camels) way back in the March 2000 issue.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EEEVIL!! *hiss* THE LLAMA SONG ROCKS!!!!!
I didn’t get the March 2000 issue i started march 2002.
hey let’s all say when we first got muse!!! and then the people that’ve been getting it for ages and ages can tell us all we missed and we can sit and cry because we didn’t get it sooner…
well, it’s something to do anyway…
SHOOT the @*#$!&% llama song!
my first issue was not so long ago in 2003. it was the germs one. i wish they would put some of the earlier muses on back order. i bet everybody would back order the first one!
oh yeah. i definitely would.
actually if i could, i’d get all the back issues and have the complete set. i wonder if anybody does have that?? has anybody here been getting it since the beginning?
we can tell them that too, along with PWT PWNS.
gasmuaze- a hyperactive museblogger. could be hyperactive for any number of reasons. (sugar, coffee, excitement, simply to bored so worked himself/herself into a state of hyper-activeness) part of an anagram for “muse magazine”. “mine gasmuaze”
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Museblog has this to say about the Question Marks: The Question Marks appeared when our esteem GAPA Robert Coontz quite cleverly removed the url section from the comment form. Soon after this well-meaning act the presence of the Question Marks was discovered. It was decided by all parties that their existence was annoying and distracting, and they must must be exterminated immediately. The cause of the appearance of said Question Marks was determined to be the absence of the url section, and steps were taken to restore the urls to their former station. But the Question marks persisted in their continual existence, and so the urls were henceforth removed again. The aforesaid esteemed GAPA Robert Coontz is currently stumped by the problem of the Question Marks. Certain parties are convinced that the Question Marks are part of a plot to conquer the Museblog, and a larger plot to conquer the internet, and permeate it with their chaotic nature.
Appearance: Some browsers are not susceptible to the plague of the Question Marks, and cannot see them. other browsers see them as this:| or this:?|?
Safari and Firefox are immune to the question marks, but Netscape and Internet Explorer are not. Other browsers I have no idea…
safari is not. we see these weird white question marks in black diamonds, instead of this:|
Firefox is not immune to the question marks; I see them perfectly well.
Firefox, however, is immune to the hearts…
i meant instead of this: ?I?
That’s interesting. I have safari here and i can’t see anything, and i get firefox at skool and can’t see anything there either. I can see it when i use ie though…
I can usually see the hearts fine on firefox too.
i meant esteemed GAPA
i see them all of the time, and i use firefox netscape ie and safari.
hmmmmm. try aol!
with aol you see ?I?
must have more…………….
“Your comment is awaiting moderation.” Yes, I know, that sounds a bit nasty, but in my personal opinion computers are getting a bit big for their britches. “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” Hmph.
P.S. Explaination of previous comment: The computer said to me, “Yuor comment is awaiting moderation,” and I, being the monster (see name) lost my temper.
P.P.S. Am I getting a bit talkative? If so, it’s because it’s rather loney down here, typing responses to myself…
P.P.P.S. Yet again, my comment is awaiting moderation. Ho-hum. I wonder if this one is too.
P.P.P.P.S. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. I needed to get that out of my system.
aaaaaarrrrrrnnnnnnnggggggg!(hits head viciously, over and over.) Why me? Why me? Oh, what a world, what a world!
(melts)
do you want some company iatm? you look… rather insane actually…
why, thank you.
I want someone to decode this: 1048/48/937665/005/0057*. Bet nobody can! If you can, I’ve got a harder one waiting…heeheehee…
how long is this gonna take?
the decoded message is: this is yellow and hairy.
moderation AHHHH how long must it TAAAAAAAAAAKE

(the muse site is finally working againe, thanks to the fact that my CABLE modem decided to be my friend and my new computer is MUCH faster *shudders at the memories of diap-up* so i do believe that this self-description is a bit late…well, here goes…)
offline: quiet 15-year-olde sophomore (will turn 16 on september 18) who has been subscribing to muse since ’99. loves romantic (as in from the romantic era/movement, NOT mushy) poetry and fantasy/sci-fi novels. science addict. usually doesn’t talk but is loud when in arguements or with friends. she wears glasses. please, not the glasses!!!! and is also obsessed with the shows “JAG,” “NUMB3RS,” and “Criminal Minds.” a bit of a grammar freak
online: browses aimlessly, is now able to post properly on forums, looks up random facts, IMs occasionally. a bit boring, really…: oops :
likes: muse(or am i stating the obvious) nice people, BOOKS, chemistry, other sciences, ART (especially salvador dali and m.c. escher), MUSIC (any kind, thank you!!…actual music of course…)
hobbies: re-designing my wardrobe (yay!), writing, reading, drawain, painting…and of course, living on the INTERNET!

Cool Here’s me:
I am a shy, smart sixth-grader. I have medium-length brown hair and glasses, am short, ect. I also like Numb3rs, and am nitpicky about spelling and grammar. I am in advanced language arts and math classes, read a lot (I’m talking three hours a day here). I like most books but especially like fantasy, sci-fi, fiction, and poetry. I like to blog here a lot. I’ve had Muse since………I can’t remember. Ask Jadestone. She’s my sister.
Sorry, gotta go. I have a stupid math worksheet to prepare for the state testing next week. It’s a crossword. Anyone know what a “point of intersection of two sides on an angle or figure” is?
numb3rs is great. especially larry. he’s so completely understated, though…they should give him more air time!
point of intersection??? no clue…i can’t remember much about geometry…sorry
smart people are the greatest. yay for you!
reading is just amazing. i’m a total mythology buff
muse should really do an article on norse mythology. it’s my personal favourite, and it’s also nice to take a break from the greek/roman mythology you hear all the time
egyptian stuff is cool too
yeah i have math homework too…i should go…
but you’re lucky your sister is into muse, etc., too. mine’s not

hello, embrace_your_poison!
yeah im a n00b to this site too!
” running around with her friends and scaring people, etc.”
^^haha yeah great fun!
anyone know how to sing “so long and thanks for all the fish”? or possibly how to get it on cd? (i can actully sing it, except for one note that i cannot hit! it’s not that i can’t reach it, just i can’t remember what it is)
erm…i can sing it… *sings* didja hear it? No? Oh well…
idk if it’s on cd. Probably not. You could record it off the movie though…
oops sorry, didn’t realize what this was about. but maybe it does. so long and thanx for all the fish would be a good replacement for that evilly evil llama song. i also think pheonix (did i spell that right) would appreciate it.
Yes, I most certainly WOULD.
I can sing it.
I love the song “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme” by Simon and Garfunkel. E’en though the narrator is a meanie.
Pulitzer and Hearst, they think we’re nothing! Are we nothing?
VF (109),
It’s probably too late now, but the word you’re looking for is vertex.
anything but “it’s a small world.”
that song is seriously evil, invented to enslave youngsters into the disney conspiracy!!!!
^^if you don’t obsessively watch MADtv, you won’t get that. sorry.
embrace_your_poison (Please call her Lyra…^_^) would like to add the strong interests in philosophy, theology, and art that she somehow ridiculously forgot to put in her first post. She’d also like to say that she absolutely adores Museblog, even though, being the perpetual forum-drifter that she is, she’s likely to disappear at some point.
Beeeep. Transmission over.
lyra- theology is cool for the most part. i go to a catholick school so i have those classes…..but i often get into arguements with my teachers
if the rich are supposed to give all their belongings to the poor, they would naturally become the poor once doing so. then the poor, who are now rich, would have to give it all back. and so on and so forth. its so confusing.
we watched Massada (did i spell that correctly?) in theology class….

I just found the MB last night when I decided to come here to post my response to the muse challenge. It’s like one huge, awesome, complex set of running jokes interwoven through some of the coolest discussion i’ve seen.
frankenfairie- if you’re talking about the Hebrew fortress, it’s spelled both Masada and Massada, depending on where you look. I’ve seen Masada most often. As far as the rich-poor thing, look into
A)Karl Marx
B)Acts Chapter 4 verses 34 and 35
C)The Sermon on the Mount
cool. thanks.
i guess the rich-poor thing is trying to promote sharing….they could just say that, instead of filling up countless passages with similies and metaphors. forgive me, but i hate things that aren’t very straightforward. okay, except for poetry…
i also tend to wave my hands like crazy when i talk…sometimes i hit people……oops….
speaking of bizzare web comics, have you ever seen/read/whatever HELLO CTHULHU? you can probably find it if you search google…
ohio? i live in pa….and now i’ll probably get a stalker…
scripture sometimes is poetry. A lot of it is Chiasmus(sp?), a type of rhetorical statement where you switch two things around, like
The last shall be first, and the first shall be last
or
Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
Thanks for the introduction to HELLO CTHULHU. It looks pretty cool. Ever heard of Buttercup Festival? It’s awesome
response to pheonix (post #116)
i love that song!!
NO! (we’re not nothing)
i love newsies! my school did it as the play when i was in 9th grade
Ah! A kindred spirit!
You did Newsies? You are SOOOO lucky!
Racetrack rocks!
I looove racetrack! one of my friends got that part. i was only an extra bec. there are only two girl parts in it. ah well
122: Karl Marx is indeed a quick answer…it’s rather unfortunate that socialism doesn’t work on the macrocosm. Hmph…-runs off to join a commune-
And I’m not sure if this is a compliment, but you sound incredibly like me. O_o; -feels slightly freaked out despite her thoughts that it would be far more unlikely that there was no-one in the world like her- -abandons grammar altogether-
hmmm…it probably loses something in translation….maybe if i learned greek and aramaic (sp?)

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear
You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that grow around you
So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish
The world’s about to be destroyed
There’s no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and watch the planet dissolve around you
Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your pregnant women
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, and thanks for allthe fish.
If I could have one last wish
I would like a tasty fish
If we could just change one thing
We’d have lungs so we can sing
Come one and all
Man and mammal
Gathe round in life’s great gene pool…
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, and thanks for allthe fish.
aargh! of all the times for the GAPA’s t go to bed! I spent so much time typing in that song and it’s still not moderated
oops sorry. it just got moderated.
Hey, how come no one responded to my wonderful rendition? Humph.
Well, since this thread is supposed to be for telling about oneself for the hg2mb, here is my entry:
Offline: spending waaaaay too much time listening to music, mostly. I also like sudoku.
Online: spending waaaaay too much time blogging (in my parents opinion) and watching funny stuff on a certain website that i cannot mention because it will get zapped. Oh well, I’ll write it anyway (it’s the same site that has the crazy frog video) [OK, you’re right. I zapped it. — Rosanne]
Likes: Music, art, anything that will make me laugh.
Dislikes: when ppl demand total conformity, stupidity, ppl who diss things they’ve never even tried.
hey!!!!! sorry….no one seems to go on this thread much anymore……and the URL will get zapped as soon as the gapas realize its there…..which will probably be right after i post this…..
anyway, your rendition was positively flamablamablous!
Thanks! Yeah you’re right, nobody really goes on this thread anymore, which is too bad. As you probaly noticed, I waited eight days between comment 141 and 142, and nobody had posted in between. Ah well. In some ways that’s better, because when a ton of ppl post on a thread, it is hard to have even a quasi-conversaton.
did you ever see the “conformity” poster by despair, inc.? it rocks my socks. must get.
*skips off of her imaginary boat, does 5 backflips, a roundoff and 3 cartwheels*
TADAA!!
There. I posted something. Happy?
The flag code is very long, I don’t know it all myself.
Yes I have seen those despair posters. one of the seniors at my school has her locker covered with them. They are soooo awesome!!
I found the flag code!!
Here it is:
1. the national flag should be displayed every day execpt when weather conditions are sever enough to damge the flag
2. the flag is customarily displayed from sunrise to sunset, although there is no rule against flying it at noght. if flown at night, the flag should be spotlighted.
3. the US flag should be flown at polling places on election days and on legal and public holidays.
4. when hung from a building, the flag should be hoisted, top first, either on a staf or on a rope suspended over the sidewalk
5. when hung over a street, the flag should be suspended vertically with its top to the north on an east-west street, or to the east on a north-south street.
6. on a speaker’s platform, the flag must be put in a prominent place, either behind or to the left of the speaker. It may not be used to decorate the platform. bunting should be used.
7. the fla must be hoisted briskly and lowered slowly. it must be gathered and folded before touching the ground.
8. the flag must never be flown upside-down, except as a sign of distress.
9. the flag is flown at half mast only when the entire country mourns.
10. The flag is carried aloft and free, never flat or horizontal. when it is carried in a parade, it should always be on the marching right. if hung from a float, it shluld be on a staff or hung flat. on a car, the flag may not be hung flat, but only on some sort of staff.
11. the flag must be saluted as it is raised or lowered, and as it passes in a parade or review.
12. the flag may be used to cover the casket of one who was in the armed forces, but it mut be taken off before the casket is lowered into the ground. an armed color guard may accompany the casket and flag, but not into the church, chapel, or the like.
13. at the unveiling of a statue or monument, the flag may be displayed, but not used as a covering for the monument or statue.
14. the flag may not be used for recieving, carrying, holding, or delivering anything, nor should it be used as bedding drapery or apparel. flag patches may be attached to the uniforms of athletes, fire fughters, police officers, and members of patriotic organizations.
15. a flag lapel pin should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.
16. the flag should not be printed on paper napkins, boxes, or other items that will be discarded.
17. the flag should not be used for advertising purposes.
18. the flag should not be marked or have anything attached to it, nor can signs or advertisments be attached to its pole or staff.
19. the flag should be folded and carefully put away when not in use.
20. the flag may be mended, dry cleaned or washed. an old or out of date flag my still be displayed, as long as it is still in good condition.
21. when a flag is not fit for use or display, it is to be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
22. if the flag is destroyed by burning, it is preferable ot cut the field of stars away form the stripes, so that it is no longer a flag, and then burn both pieces.
(and no I did not memorize these. I found them in the encyclopedia)
Why do you have to salute the flag? its not like its alive.
Well half those rules are completely ignored anyway…
Burning is considered dignified?
Geeze. I’m sorry, but I don’t believe any one soul object needs to be treated with such great respect. Not until we can treat every single human living thing being with that amount of respect, anyway.
Quakers don’t say the pledge
what, the pledge of allegence? i dont know it . i dont believe i ever have either…
154- agreed. but don’t burn the people.
I know it, but don’t say it….why don’t you know it? (jw..I wouldn’t know it either, but we had to do this thing in school about it.)
Did you know that the Pledge of Allegiance started in a kids’ magazine? I think the magazine was called The Youth’s Companion–sort of the Muse of its day, only a hundred years older and considerably less froody.
no, i didn’t. that’s pretty cool. a bit freaky, but still cool.
I dont know it becaause i never bothered to learn it. and then theres the whole part about pledging allegiance to flag… like it can do anything about the world s state.
I agree
I follow most of those rules except for the one about salutes the flag. I also bought a New York flag for $4, so thats being marketed. Though state flags might be differnt…
You guys are lucky. I’ve had to say it 1st thing in the morning ever day since kindergarden (except for 3rd grade, when I lived in France):
I pledge allegiance
to the flag
of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands,
One Nation,
Under God,
Indivisible
And with liberty and justice for all.
The line “under God” is contreversial because it is a mixing of Church and school. It was added sometime during the Cold War, I believe, as a result of the Red Scare.
I can also say it in Spanish
Prometo fidelidad
A la bandera
de los Estados Unidos de America
y a la republica ….
oh crud, I forget the rest.
We also had to say that part of Constitution every morning, along with the pledge, for a while.
We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men were created equal, that they were endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. That to secure these rights, government were instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the governed.
It’s silly; we first had to start saying that in 4th grade. None of has even the faintedt idea what it meant. If you ask me, making kids recite that think makes it lose meaning, makes it seem less important, because it just becomes part of boring daily routine.
165- that’s from the Declaration of Independence…
We had to learn the preamble and part of the Declaration (We hold these truths to be self evident…)
Every class is supposed to say the pledge every morning, but ours never does…oh well!
why salute the flag? bec. it is a “great symbol of our nation” (i made that up
it is only dignified to burn the flag after you cut the stars out. otherwise it is baaaad.
154 – i agree
i led the pigeons to the flag of the united states of america
and to the rebublic for witches stand
one nation under G-d
invisible
with liver, tea, and juices for all
(my teacher in 5th grade told us this story about a kid who said this over the intercom bec that’s what he thought the pledge was. this is not a myth. it was one of her students.)
MY CLASS ONLY SAYS IT ON MONDAY. ::::
(166) That’s what I meant, I swear…
I remembered it en espanol
Prometo Fidelidad
A la bandera de lo Estado Unidos De America
y a la republica
qui represent
una nacion, bajo Dios,
con libertad y justicia para todos
Not that anyone cares…
**qui representa
who says no one cares?
Saying the pledge in spanish…now that’s interesting…
I agree w/whoever said that about boring routine and all…you just memorize it. and say it. you don’t mean it, you don’t understand it, it’s just something you say. Soo stupid. And nobody has to say it anyway. Next time i go to an elementary skool i’m gonna tell all the kids just not to say the pledge until they understand it. w00t! Strike! Strike! We WON’T say the pledge! Freedom of speech! Woohoo!
It’d be interesting to see if they get in trouble at all…because technically that’s illegal to force them to say it…
Mwahaha…
Commence Phase Whatever of Operation Mostly Harmless…Agent Ebeth reporting
Mission: Get kids to revolt and not say the pledge. They grow up, see what a close shave it was, how they were being brainwashed. Give kids subscriptions. Lifelong loyalty to Muse. Supports Ko-konspirators in eventual takeover.
Hmm…
I know. What exactly is the pledge trying yo acheive anyway? Do they think we’ll be more loyal if we rattle of some mindless fluff every morning?
Yes.
Weird.

#169 *copys down variant of pledge*
SN (171),
My high school Spanish teacher taught us a slightly different version:
Juro fidelidad a la bandera de los Estados Unidos de America, y a la republica que simboliza: una nacion, Dios mediante, indivisible, con libertad y justicia para todos.
Apparently, before Congress added “under God” in the early 1950s, some kids misspoke “one nation indivisible” as “one naked individual.”
Yikes.
Where’s this “llama song” that is mentioned in the HG2MB?
comment #66 has the link. I love it!
heres a llama theres a llama and another little llama
We should have a Pledge to Muse!
That may just be the best idea ever!

I pledge allegiance to the Muse of the Hot Pink Bunny Empire of America. And to the llamas, for which they stink, one awesome magazine, under Pies, fuzzy and pink, with liberty and complete hyperness for…*SPLAT*
Is that good?
the llama song can be our anthem
sure.
The llama song rocks!

I knew that.

that’s the understatement of the century
(176, Robert) But why?
(180, Robert) Well, knowing my Spanish teacher, your version is probably the better translation.
Haha. that’s funny. hmmm. I wonder what they would do if a kid said that over the morning anouncements (or rather I wonder what they did).
196-Ew. American history is usually nauseatingly embarrassing.

201- INDEED! Wow: early most Americans were idiots.
(and are)
Meritorious Mer
Offline: Likes to read and write, often bewails her lack of non-virtual friends, really prefers to avoid verbal exchange with people who are lacking in the intelligence department, LOVES choklit but is trying to get in shape for summer, is overly cynical, spends most of her time daydreaming, likes to analyze things to the point where no one can understand her anymore, and likes to discuss philosophical questions with her best friend. 13.5 years old.
Online: Turns into a rather presumptuous, esoteric personality who changes her name a lot because she can’t decide on anything really final. Can’t hit shift + letter properly and has to retype almost everything multiple times.
I play the violin. Half the people in my grade say I’m weird, and the other half say that I’m so perfect, like they are being disapproving snobs.
Last night I dreamed that I died. Again.
Being an American does’t define if you are an idiot or not. It’s not “This person is American, therefore an idiot” it is “this person is an idiot, and also happens to be American.”
Let’s not generalize.
(for the record, I’m not particularly patriotic, I just don’t like generalizing).
I like generalizing, but not to such a great extent. Not like, “That guy is from Massachusetts; therefore he is a terrible driver,” but like, “She is wearing Abercrombie from head to toe; therefore she is popular.”
The pledge of allegience probable meant something originally, you know, back when kids memorized presidents and whatnot. Now we just say it because it’s tradition. Maybe it makes the teachers nostalgic.
I haven’t said the pledge in school since 4th grade.
True…however, most of the ones I know (not online) are…
i am very un-american. i learned the lithuanian anthem before the american… and i still don’t know all the words.
well, i’ll post on here since i never got around to it before…
offline: plays violin, reads (24/7), writes, sings, acts, is hyper, loves choklit, horseback rides, loves animals… is a hyper homeschooler nut. i have long dirty blonde hair that i want to chop off short soon…
online: can’t type anything correctly and goes to every site there possibly is.
offline: reads, bounces on bed, makes up stories.
online: doesnt really care about capitalization, goes on 3 favorite sites. these are: museblog, neopets, and my library website.
im sure theres more but thats all i can think of.
Yess! Yess! I have rejuvenatede the hg2mb thread. Ok maybe i’m being conceited, but i was the one who posted on the keeping treads alive thread for ppl to go to here.

Now, we need to compile a list of things we like. Any suggestions? (besides HG2G, that ones obvious)
216- considering that im unable to read h2g2…

Zark, this thread is inactive.
Wow, i haven’t been on Cts for ages. Time for some long, hard-core comic reading…
wow, i thought everything before april died a long time ago! what the deus is this thread for anyway? *scrolls up + down*
ok, so it must have MPD or something, b/c the subject seems to have changed quite a few times.

i swear that song is going to haunt me for the remainder of my life…
aw the llama songgs not that bad… as a matter of fact that may be why this thread was desrtd
does anyone remember the stargirl version of the pledge?
Ok, just to fill in anyone who still goes on this thread,
is an expression that glorifies Muse by declaring that the Muse, Pwt, owns all.
A few people throughout the blog have asked this question so I thought I’d put the answer here!
Perhaps the GAPAs should add it to the HG2MB page or the Muse Dictionary???
SM,
Good idea! I’ve added it to the HG2MB.
my mom got a treo!!!!!!
*dies of jealosy*
If everybody’s supposed to describe themselves, the following is a brief description of myself:
Blogging name: Koko du Pelle
Real name: Alan
Likes: Computer games, Muse (of course!) books, blogging
Dislikes: Being pulled off the blog, being forced to go to bed when I don’t want to
I geuss that covers it. (227) I always thought “pwt pwns” was “pwit pwins”. Either way, it glorifies Muse. GAPAs, you should put that on the HG2MB as an alternitive meaning, that it means that the Muse Pwt wins over anything in other mags. Or anything in anything, for that matter. It still glorifies Muse.
okey-dokey:
I am Ruffled Grouse, or Purplefinch. Purplefinch is for when I feeling shy on the blog(not often). In real life I am an antisocial wierdo(sort of). On the blog I am just strange and confuzed. I have sea grey eyes, long, flaxen golden hair, and a classical nose…(did I mention I was not serious???) No, besides what you think, I am really NOT vain, just rather odd. I love books, birds, ballet, piano and flute. And Muse, of course!!
Pwt Pwns
228- Yay!
231- Haha, moste of us seem to be antisocial weirdos offline…xD
i’m not anti social, but i am a weirdo… or atleast considered one. ok, is it my fauly that i dyed my hair green last all saints day? *sigh* hi, i’m Gali ….. i like cats, LotR, tofu, and trees. i dislike hot pink bunnies and country music. i don’t have a real life or a real name. lol, i like the hampsster song as well as the llama song. …now my song is getting thin……………………………………..
I like the penguin song…
Is a female hamster a hamstress?
(235) “ster” is a feminine ending (Old English “-estre”) — as in webster/weaver, spinster/spinner, baxter/baker — so if anything, a male hamster would be a hammer
So I’ve heard. “Brewster,” too. But seamstress..?
The Old English is séamestre. Perhaps the word got frenchified somewhere along the way. You want English to be consistent?
No. When I want consistency, I speak Esperanto.
I’m afraid this thread has strayed rather far from its origins. Heaven help anyone who consults it as a guide to MuseBlog. I guess anyone who strays onto the blog is already hopelessly lost anyway…
I think it’s a PERFECTt guide to MuseBlog. Anyone who reads it will know exactly what she or he is in for.
*pies Robert with a ham-and-suffix quiche*
*snorts*
The Museblog is a place where GAPA RC dazzles us all with his multilingualism and debates hamsters, hamstresses, and hammers, and so-called “adults” like the Lady Bunniful shamefully fling ham-and-suffix quiches, whatever those are.
Who wouldn’t love it?
I bow to you, O Ebeth the Wise who pwns all.
Squee! *pies LB*
Hmm… did I ever do one of these? I don’t remember. I guess I’ll start, then.
Name: Jadestone,
Online: Meh… I can’t go on the computer on weekdays anymore, so I’ll just do what I did during the summer- Museblog! (Duh, where else would I spend all my time? Otherwise I wouldn’t be doing this), various RPGs, the blog I made, googleing random things, figuring out how to build websites(currently working on a good place to create a chat room, I’ve already done forums and blogs), umm… emailing rants to people, being a generally Insane and Random Person
Ofline: Lesse… I am in 9th grade, and I started playing on the tennis team this year for school. Outside of school, I play ice hockey, and I’ve been thinking about trying pole-vaulting next semester.
Likes: Reading, Choklit, writing songs, poems and stories, sleep, going on the Museblog, hanging out with my friends at the library, Musik
Dislikes: Stuck-up popular people, skool, being yelled at or reading in class, people who call me gay because I don’t wear all popular or in clothes(not that the term “gay” is an insult, but I dislike those people for obvious reasons), people going through my stuff,
Random info about me: I have medium-long brown hair, brown eyes, am vertically challenged(aka short, meh), I am slightly OCD…(rushes off to straighten a random piece of furniture), I like making movies with my friends and am in drama, umm… dunno what else to put. Add it some other time, then.
Name: The Other Person From Over There (TOPFOT)
Current Age: 13, 14 in October
Grade: 9
Other Stuff: 0.03% of road accidents involve a moose. 7% of Americans think that Elvis is still alive. 5/4 of people have trouble with fractions. How does that make you feel?
OK, fine, stuff about me: I prefer hand dryers to paper towels. I’m a band geek, a French nerd, ASB secretary for the class of ’10, and an English freak :). I’ve been here since B.M.B. (Before Muse Blog), but I haven’t posted in a while (hence, nobody knows who I am).
Awesome stuff: MUSE!!!!!, llama song, so long and thanks for all the fish, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, tenrecs, dogs, cats, hot pink bunnies, purple penguins, HTML (I use it on a small website that I co-own with Random Moose Person), orange smiley faces, NINJAS, gmail, garden gnomes, garden flamingos, video cameras, painting rocks, karate, placemats, any music as long as it isn’t rap, secret service agents, the internet, iPods, Weird Al, Monty Python, and posting on threads that aren’t dead yet.

WildChild when I’m hyper
President of the Mordred Is Not Evil Club (aka the Hit-Girls of Avalon, which should be singular because there is only one — me) when I’m in screwed-up political mode

other than that, i am very, very, very, very weird and sometimes i annoy people because i am so weird, so beware.
Me? Well, I’m 11 years old, 12 on Jan. 3, and…
Offline: Reads like nuts, mostly Pendragon, Harry Potter, and manga. Kamichama Karin is my favorite of all time. I am a girl (obviously) and crazy. I like Pirates of the Caribbean, Tim Burton movies, Hayao Miyazaki movies (I’m being Princess Mononoke for Halloween), and…roleplaying.
Online: Crazier than usual, likes to go on Neopets but now Muse Fan Page too, talks in non-chatspeak. I don’t say: “I am lyk so cul be my bff an ill give u prezzies.” None of that for me. And I looooooove manga and will always be happy when introduced to new ones.
Welcome, Kari! You share your birthdate with J.R.R. Tolkien. Did you know that?
Good, a non-chat speaker. There is nothing on the Internet that annoys me more than someone who uses chat-room grammar on a forum. As for the books, Pendragon pwns. I agree.
*pies Kari*
Unbelievable. No one has pied a newbie yet.
*pies, pies, pies, pies, pies, pies, well you get the point*
those were various types, so now Kari is good and welcomed
Glad to have you with us Kari.
Heehee. Thank you!
Ooh. No, I didn’t know J.R.R. Tolkein’s b-day was the same as mine. Cool!
*eats whipped cream* Mmm. Pie.
This thread looks more dead than the other one, but at least I know what it’s about. I think.
I am thirteen and a half years old and homeschooled. I like to read, mostly fantasy and adventure, and fantasy adventure. I also like to write ( the aforesaid genres).
My favorite movie is Master and Commander.
I like to play long games: Monopoly, Risk, Settlers of Catan etc. And Dungeons & Dragons, which doesn’t fit into the above list.
I also like LOTR.
I like to sail and kayak.
I have six rabbits, four cats, one dog, and twelve sheep. Plus seven feral chickens.
Online, I don’t really do anything, except order books from a chain library.
257 – Yep, this is a pretty dead thread. LOTR ROX!!!!!!!!! D&D is fun, even though I’ve only played it, like, once. I sail and kayak during the summer, I love reaading fantasy books, I haven’t seen Master and Commander, though I really want to, I also write fantasy stories, I do not usually enjoy board games, and I have no pets because most of my family is allergic to anything with fur or feathers and my parents don’t want me to get a snake. Anyways, on another thread I asked you if you were someone else, and you obviously aren’t so I’m sorry ’bout that.
dude….this thread is not dead yet. The posting’s just very slow…………………………
