Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything
Ooh! *dances* First post? I’m not that great with plots, so someone else can come up with the basic thing and I’ll try and help!
LBK, this seems on the verge of a PoPo. Please refrain from such posts in the future.
Yes, yes, I know. *gives choklit* I like you’re rules, though. They seem good. And the plot idea seems to be working.
I like you are rules?
Grah. Dang grammar. *facepalm* I’m just not good today. *gives choklit*
This is interesting. What’s this one supposed to be about?
Personally, I think that this can be a great RPG- if we lay down some rules, and general things.
First of all- we should make it make sense. No just “And then the time portal opened!” stuff. This shouldn’t be easy for our characters. And no changing history. That can’t happen, because history already happened. That’s why it’s history.
Secondly- No cliches. No meeting your past self and giving them a message. You will have to meet your future self occasionally, if at all.
Thirdly- Try to have fun anyway. RPGs aren’t work. They’re play. Relax, but think while you do it.
Finally- THINK NONLINEARLY. The first bit of action ever posted in this RPG should still be relevant when we close it off. Basically, if you’re not confused by it, you’re doing it wrong.
I agree with Enc. This should definitely have a set of rules. Also, could we go to the time of Emily Dickinson? We could do something about why she wrote the poem “Nobody”.
Interesting idea… we could expand on that- historical works of art, famous or otherwise could actually be messages trying to prevent a catastrophe large…
This sounds quite fascinating… I’ll help with rules, starting by reposting and possibly rephrasing Enc’s rules?
RULES OF THE RPG
1) Time Travel is NOT EASY. Like Enc said, no “Oh wait, I’m about to be killed by falling off a cliff. Two seconds from hitting the ground, I open up a time portal and am saved in the nick of time” stuff. That’s just unfair.
2) Please, no cliches. If they’re absolutely necessary, and there’s no way around it, then fine. Use them. But don’t go back and give yourself a message from the future unless it’s necessary. I really can’t think of a situation where this would be the only possible solution, but I’m leaving it open just in case.
3) TT has CONSEQUENCES. Not all of them are good. The classic example is going back in time to kill Hitler: You’d think it would be an infinitely good deed, but really, it wouldn’t help. Germany was lost, looking for a leader, it had a very weak government at the time, and I’m sure there were plenty of young charismatic men at the time that were plenty smarter than Hitler. If Hitler had been killed, then one of the others would have risen to power, and could have quite possibly won the war. (It’s arguable that Hitler lost himself the war. He did a lot of dumb things.) Besides, if the holocaust hadn’t happened, people may never have realized how awful some things that they were doing were. The genocide convention wouldn’t have happened, leading to terrible terrible things (the Rwandan genocide would have gone on for much longer, possibly leading to another war, for example) that wouldn’t have been stopped as easily, etc. The point is, think your TT actions out carefully, and don’t just create positive consequences. If someone else points out a possible problem that may arise, don’t ignore it, roleplay it. This RPG will be no fun if TT can’t be used as a weapon just as easily as a defense mechanism, and if it can’t be a double edged sword.
4) Nothing is completely erasable. If I decide to do something that later turns out to have been a bad idea, I can’t go back with TT and stop myself from doing it. Partly because of the cliches rule, but partly because done is done is done. Big things will find a way to happen, and there’s no stopping them. You may slow them down, but they’ll always find a way in.
Do these rules seem fine? They’re completely malleable, I’m just laying down my ideas.
Good, but I like my idea about “If it doesn’t confuse you, then you’re not doing it right.”
Oh, right, I forgot that one. Sorry.
(( SOrry for the PoPo, but who/what is Hitler?))
((…You don’t know who Hitler is.
I’m sorry, but take a history lesson; this is something every third-grader knows~))
My idea is that some hugegly evil dude is trying to destroy the world, and we have to go to moments it history that were important, and maybe change them and get the idea. That was my main idea. And we can be from different times recruited for some organization.
Why would he want to destroy the world?
Because it’s so FUN!
That’s exactly the reason I don’t like ‘evil geniuses’. Unless they have a reason. Such as vengance. But it’s silly to wreak vengence upon the entire universe.
I agree.
My reason was because he was possesed by
Again, why would the hot pink bunnies want to destroy the world?
How about, instead of destroying the world, the bad guy(s) is/are trying to steal valuable and lost artifacts from the past and sell them in the present/future to make money?
I don’t really think that would work- people would know that they’re supposed to be antiques, and yet they look a day old…
How about bad guys try to take over the world by taking stuff from the past, and saying ge can fix everything bad that happens, and he persuades people that we are bad, and time travel was his idea and we stole it but we made it ( or our mad scientests.) it possible.
Why would he want to take over the world, and please read the discussion below- no offense, but the ideas you’re have for a plot aren’t really working with the rules we’re laying down.
What if the bad guy’s just a greedy collector and he wants to steal things just to keep to himself or to sell to other collectors who don’t care about screwing up history as opposed to 1) actually leaving the artifacts with the people who need them in the past 2) giving them to future historians to study? Basically, a looter/treasure hunter with a time machine.
With this plot line we could have it so time travel is known. People buy things on the black market and in auctions that were made “yesterday.” There would be controversy over who owned the things before they were taken from their time… Maybe more of a novel idea than an RPG, but the fact that time travel is like mining the past for things to sell could provide a nice story.
((I like Enc’s and SR’s rules. Also, no taking back gadgets from the future that make everything easier (see rule no1). I’d also prefer if we didn’t constantly save the world: there are other RPGs for that.))
((Could we have some sort of translation tool, though? Because otherwise, we’re going to be limited to places and times where the languages we know were spoken.))
((We could always use the Doctor Who suspension of disbelief…
Or perhaps telepathic translators have already been invented.))
Telepathic translators would solve the problem without being considered a “device”, so I think that’s a good idea .
Won’t the historical people you encounter consider it strange to be reading your thoughts?
I thought telepathic translators would be a sort of mind worm- almost like a babblefish, but purely psychic.
((Can someone explain what telepathic translators are? i don’t really follow Dr. Who.))
((There are telepathic translators in Doctor Who, but these aren’t what we’re talking about. Telepathic translators in our sense are basically a sort of program/meme in your mind that lets you speak any language.))
Have you guys ever read The Seems? They have this thing that clips onto your tongue. You can understand and speak any language with it. Maybe something like that???
But it’s a pill.
(( we only save it once.))
How mutable should history be? Should it be completely unchangeable, somewhat alterable, or very volatile, meaning it would be easy to change but difficult to predict the results of changes? Making it unchangeable severely limits the power of TT, but can also have interesting implications. If it’s somewhat changeable, it’s a bit problematic, because what defines which events are changeable and which are not? Or you can have a changeable timeline, but with a tendency to revert to its original state. If it’s very changeable, the game can get confusing, which is great. However, if you have this setup, you need alternate universes in order to prevent paradoxes, for this reason:
Say you go back in time and kill your grandfather. Normally, this would create a paradox, because you wouldn’t be born and then you wouldn’t kill your grandfather, but then you would be born, and you would kill your grandfather, but then you wouldn’t, but then you would, ad infinitum. But if you have parallel universes, you can go back in time and create a universe where your grandfather was killed, but it doesn’t affect you because you’re from a universe where your grandfather lived. So there’s no paradox.
Alternate universes would be fun, but might confuse things. Of course, we could acknowledge their existence but not involve them
So, what do you think?
Also, I really like the idea of artwork as message, and us being from different periods of history.
I think that it should be unchangeable. If you try to change it, it turns out that your trying to change it makes it happen.
So, sorta like what happened in the third HP book? It had already happened, but they had to make it happen in the past to have it happen?
I thought that maybe we could use an elastic time flow, like in Night Watch, so that things that have an actual visual effect will happen no matter what, but may happen in different ways. Things, objects, dialogue, etc. can be changed completely, but major events will still happen. So, for example, I can go back in time and kill someone who leads a rebellion, but that rebellion will find another leader. I can go back in time and destroy technology that will be severely harmful in the future, but another technology will show up, or the absence of the technology will prove just as harmful, etc.
Alternatively, we could alter or trash rule four, and let history be completely formable by TT. The obvious advantage to the first one is that it would be considerably less confusing, and the obvious advantage to the second is that it leaves us quite a bit of breathing room with what we can do with TT, and allows for more creativity.
I think your and my ideas could be combined- essentially, the same things happen. It’s just the details. Almost like a skin in computing- same function, same basics, just looks a bit different.
I think that only unimportant events should be mutable. We can try to change important ones at first, only to have them end up the same or only slightly different.
But what determines if an event is “important” or “unimportant”? Where’s the dividing line, and why? Also, unimportant events can have important consequences, like the Butterfly Effect.
Hmm.. How about, if we mess up the first time, we try agian in the alternate universe. Which is technacly humanitys lastresort. Meaning if you died, you’d go to the AU and when you die there you actaully die.
What if the characters go back in time to prevent various disasters, and the effects of their actions form time as it is in the real world. The thing is how would they know when there was going to be a disaster?
Have you given any thought to how this works logistically within an RPG? Who all are you going to be? Are all your characters traveling together? How many is that going to be? Is anyone role-playing the people in the other times? What happens to them when you travel elsewhere?
I was going to make a joke about a time travel tour bus, but something of the sort might actually work. Your home base could be somewhere group time travel might be an expected as part of your education. Or maybe this is a special honor or award or something.
Also, it may be quite challenging to create a plot-driven story with a character-driven format. Perhaps it might be easier to manage if you added some elements from RRRs. Some posts could be exposition, for instance. Or, to keep it more purely RPG, maybe someone could be a journalist or write a diary or something.
Anyway, those were just some stray ideas that occurred to me, for what they’re worth.
There could be a base underground.
This was an idea I had for a story:
Throughout history, many of the most famous and powerful people have reported similar childhood experiences: being saved from imminent death by an “angel in white”. The angels are actually an organization from the future known as the Guardian Angels, whose job is to make sure that history’s great leaders and pioneers survive to fulfill their destiny. They have high-tech mechanical wings on their suits (think Artemis Fowl), and headlights that resemble halos. They need to save the people, because an evil time-traveler is trying to alter history by killing them.
It didn’t work out as a novel … maybe we could use some variation of it for this RP?
That’s a great idea, but I think that the evil time traveler part might have to be cut out. The Guardian Angels would be ‘battling’ against time itself, but working for it- they go make and make history what happened, not what would happen if the Guardian Angels weren’t there.
To add a bit of plot, the famous and powerful people should almost unite to send the Angels a message about something that could possible destroy the universe if there isn’t interference. Something paradox proof.
SFTDP
I’d really like to RP as one of the famous people who were saved and sent a message to the Guardian Angels in the future. Imagine living your whole life just to send a single message.
And another plot idea- the message could actually be what makes the Guardian Angels be founded. The Angel who saves the person tells them what to do to make sure the Angels exist in the future to save the person who sends a message to make the Angels exist in the future to save the person who sends a message to make the Angels….
Kind of like my short story a while ago where Urania saves Sergei Korolev as a child so he can go on to launch the first satellite?
I’d like to join! I like Kai’s idea in post 6.2.1.1.1.1, and maybe we could combine elements of other ideas too. I don’t know. Just my opinion. You don’t have to take it.
Hm… I wasn’t going to join this, but I don’t think I can resist.
I, personally, would prefer to go with the idea that changing the past ends up leading to causing the past.
I have a sort of idea on how to combine the “white angels” with us time traveling:
The “Angels” are a group of unknown entities who save famous minds from death in their childhood. No-one knows exactly who or what they are because they have only been reported as humanoid figures surrounded by blinding, white light. Our thesis is that they are time travelers from the future who are attempting to make history unfold as we know it by undoing paradoxes so that their future ends up the way they want it to be.
That’s where we come in: they’re able to manipulate time in whatever way the want too and they’ve chosen groups of young people for every 7700 years or so (that would make us able to visit the times from ancient Mesopotamia to now). Basically, we’re “chosen” to “correct” the time stream. “Chosen” because we’re given the equipment to time travel and understand ancient languages, but not in a “we come before you because you are so powerfully awesome and will save he world” way. We just find out that we can time travel: we aren’t given instructions and we can only being to guess at a pattern to where we are sent/supposed to be. We don’t receive instructions, superpowers or anything like that and we can only guess at the angels presence by what we’ve been told by those who have encountered them. We never meet them directly and they wouldn’t intervene to save our lives; they just send us where we need to be so that our presence alters events to make the past the way we know it. The only way we notice their presence is that somehow we keep getting “lucky”, for example on our first missions we can quickly find clothes, or we meet people that aren’t xenophobic and will allow us to stay with them, or that some people come up to tell us something that we later find out we need to know but they won’t tell us who convinced them to trust us. The more we grow able to cope with time travel, the less the angels assist us and leave us “hints” in poems, etc, instead.))
I think we should use Rainbow*Storm’s idea, but without the evil time traveler. And plus, then if we go to the time of Emily Dickinson, the poem nobody could be about an angel in white.
I think we should start soon. Let’s make up our minds about this stuff.
I like Bookgirl_me’s description.
I am so impatient, I’m going to make my profile now.
Name: Megan Nianth
time: 2590
Age. 10.
apperance: Long Brown hair with a purple streak, about 4’11.
Personality. Does not know what plants are, Very talkitive, likes to ambush people. Kind.
Is she an angel, someone saved by an angel, or…
I know that my character is going to be a historical figure. Maybe even a real one. They’ll have been saved by an angel, and asked to put a message into art/poem/speech they give.
Also- I think the Angel’s presence in the past shouldn’t alter it- it should do the opposite and make sure that history goes the way it should.
She’s an chosen by the angels person.
Appearnce: Dark purple hair with blue streaks, Violet eyes, and usually wears a light blue shirt, and blue green skirt that looks as if it was made with sea glass.
( felt like redoing that.)
When can we start RPing?
sftdp
Megan also has wing that look slightly like fairy wings, because they’re transparent, only they are angel wings, in form. Which mean, she’s a new recruit.
Wing System
transparent- new recruit
tranclucent- not new, but not a senior.
glimmering- junior
full size, but not really visible- senior
Full size, and however Fishi intends to design them- Angels.
sfttp
well, glimmering wings actually.
And I think i’ll just rescue artists and authors. Anyone with me?
( I deeply apoligize for the quad post.)
Name: Megan Nianth
time: 2590 ( well, her real time she came from is 1090, but she dosen’t remember that.)
Age. 10.
History: Orphaned at age 3, found by an angel and sent into the future with a time travel device, age 8. Returned to the Angels, age 9. She had three siiblings, but they were killed in the field trying to save Neapolian.
Personality: Considering her life, Surprisingly jolly. Very bold. She brings a puppy to work. Is shy for the first few minutes. Loves animals. People call her a know it all. She’s a little sensitive.
Appearnce: Dark purple hair with blue streaks, Violet eyes, and usually wears a light blue shirt, and blue green skirt that looks as if it was made with sea glass.Megan also has wings that look slightly like fairy wings, because they’re glimmering.
Angels
•piegirl ( me)
People saved by the Angels
•Enceladus
I think we should refrain from making lists until people become confused about who’s who. (And I thought you were chosen by Angels, not an Angel yourself.)
Yes, but i mean people who work with the angels, or are taught by them.
I really love Rainbow*Storm’s idea. It seems the most coherent and interesting plot.
Wait, so would I be creating an Angel? Or, if my character was ‘chosen’ by an Angel, should he/she live in any specific time period?
Interesting ideas so far. Can this RPG run itself, or do you think it needs a Dungeonmaster?
I think that a Dungeonmaster would be helpful- it means people know what’s going to happen.
I think I’ll create an Angel for now.
Name: Avery Mathis
Age: 20
Appearance: She is tall and has an hourglass figure with small feet and hands. Her hair is long, and a midnight brown, usually worn in a fishtail braid down her back so as not to hinder her movement. Her eyes are a sharp shade of myrtle. She wears a practical suit made of a thin white zip-up layer of PVC, with an armored torso and shoulders, as well as grey boots up to her thighs. When flying, she wears a pair of glasses made like bikers’ glasses, to fit the face and keep vision clear.
Personality: Avery is generally the quiet thinker of the Guardian Angels. She is nice, but only when kindness is extended to her. She can be very bluntly honest, and is impatient. She likes to read books, and craft her own jewelry in her spare time. Her favorite time period is the Victorian era, which she has always wanted to visit.
Can my character be influenced/guided by your Angel? (Though not Victorian England, it’s that era.)
Georges Bizet
Saved at age 3 when he got lost and nearly drowned in the Seine. The Angel (Avery?) told him to hide the numbers/ message “7 6 5 3 5 6 5 3 5 4.5 3 2 1.5 -1” in something. He finally succeeded in 1863, not knowing how much it mattered what he hid. The series of numbers is actually the frequency time travel ‘devices’ must vibrate to transcend time and space.
Could I also have a 2nd character, one that will be in on the action? I want to know if it’s ok.
Sounds like a plan!
I may also create a second character, to be chosen by the Angels, but, if we have too many I’ll scrap that idea.
Oh, and if you’re wondering where he hid the message, look at “Je crois entendre encore” from “The Pearl Fishers”. Specifically the second phrase from the aria.
Oh, and transposed into F.
What year is she from?
P
She’s an Angel, one of the original group and not a chosen one, so she doesn’t need a year as far as I know.
Oh okay.
Wing Level:Master
But if the famous people who the Angels are saving are from different time periods, then how are everyone’s stories going to be connected?
And if the story follows the Angels as they visit each time period, then that famous person/character will be extremely short-lived.
Or does everyone’s stories happen continuously, at the same time? That might get a bit confusing…
Perhaps I’m simply a bit confuzzled…anyway, I don’t really get it.
A few people, who become Angels will decipher all the codes people have hidden. They’ll make the Angels, which causes the Angels to exist.
(I’m thinking that when the rescued person dies, or nearly dies, the Angel will come and bring them to become an Angel themselves.)
Everything will happen at the same time- an Angel will be meeting, say, Beethoven when the next post could have a different angel rescuing Bill Gates.
It’s supposed to be confusing. The best way to think of it is think of a two dimensional grid, with y axis being time, x axis being space. Angels can move freely along the both axises, but everyone else must move at a slope of 1 or -1, and that only toward positive y.
I understand now, I think. Thanks!
((I’m confused-what have we decided on for a plot?))
I think a combination of posts 14 and 17.
(( I call rescuing Michealanglo!))
Brainstormed ideas about my character so far:
– Chosen by Angels.
– Experienced recruit, but not an Angel yet, possibly “partnered” with newer recruits as an example.
– Female.
– Native time period is somewhere in the late 20th century, not sure about the decade. (Either 60s, 70s, or 80s)
– Eccentric dresser.
– Archivist/history specialist, frequently spouts random facts.
((Character time-I’ll make an angel, one to work with Aggie’s. Also, Kai, I’ll make a recruit.
Name: Avalon Rosaus
Age: 21
Appearance: Avalon has short reddish-brown hair, cut similar to Hinata’s from the first season of Naruto. Her eyes are a pristine pale blue, her skin fair, and her features delicate. She wears a lavender bodysuit, covered by a thin protective layer of white ‘scales’ (that look slightly like dragon scales) that spread over her chest, waist, and arms. Her lower legs are covered by teal zip-up boots. She is thin, almost painfully so, but blessed with an incredibly curvy body and slender limbs.
When flying, Avalon dons a pair of stylized goggles-lavender glass, teal outlines, and silver metal. Her wings are the same shade of white as her ‘scales’, and so are her headlights.
Personality: Avalon always seems melancholy, like she had to leave something behind…and perhaps she did. She’s quiet and keeps to herself, but seems to otherwise have the emotional abilities of a brick wall-she doesn’t cry, doesn’t really smile, doesn’t show anger. She can show tenderness or stubborness when talking to others, but does not tend to actually respond emotionally to anything; perhaps she was broken emotionally by something that happened once?
Her favorite time period is the middle of the 21st century, and at one point she was there for two years, finding the right people to give her messages. During this period, something happened to break Avalon; which is why she attempts to not form close ties to people,
As one of the original Angels, Avalon seems to know a lot about the secrets and the ways to use time.
Goggle ref here, just exchange the colors: [snip]
My other character will be a new recruit, likely “partnered” with Kai’s.))
((Cause the image was snipped, I’ll just say this:
They were steampunky. And futuristic.))
(( I think that the base can be reached by pressing the huge white button.))
I spent a long time tonight drawing Avery on InkArt, and I think it came out well! I’m going to send in the picture soon.
I may also design a set of “angel wings”, and try to make it a practical design.
((I imagine the angel wings as this:
Sort of this set of glimmering, metallic metal; shaped like the bones in a wing.))
That’s what I was thinking as well, possibly with some sort of gear mechanism at each wing joint to allow for freer movements. Then, between each metal rod of the wing ‘bones’, there can be some kind of indestructible , weightless material to keep the Angel afloat. The wings can be attached to a long-sort of jet pack mechanism at the back that keeps the Angel up in the air. The pack can be turned on and off at any time and when deactivated the wings will fold back into a more mobile position.
Finished! They look great, if I do say so myself. I’ll send in a pic of them along with my sketch of Avery once I get my laptop back.
It’s still gapa @ musefanpage.com, right?
agrrrfishi: For drawings, it’s better to send them to thegapas @ gmail.com. Google Mail is better at uploading image files to Photobucket.
Okay, thats cool too! Thanks!
Between the rods, there could be a material that looks almost like white dragon scales/feathers? And the headlight ‘halo’ could be the energy of the get pack?
I have a few questions.
1. Are the Angels the source of angels in religion and mythology? Were they originally the inspiration?
2. Do Angels have the motor system for their wings implanted into their bodies? Can they move the wings because they are connected to their nervous system?
3. If the answer to 2 is yes, can they also have upgrades implanted into their bodies? Can an angel have robot ‘ears’ (the triangular, backwards-pointing, thingies of anime robots sometimes) if their real ears were damaged?
4. How long can Angels stay in a year, advancing with it in terms of time?
1. Probably- religion is a great way of passing on a hidden message.
2. Probably
3. Yeah, I guess.
4. As long as it takes to save the person.
But what if they weren’t saving, but trying to figure out who would be a good person to leave a message that would be extremely relevant in the future?
True. There’s probably an Angel in every ten years looking for heroes who are in trouble. They’ll deliver the message, and probably tell the hero the message. They or others may come later to offer inspiration.
(( is Meagan going to have to work alone? She can.))
I want to send in the picture I drew for the time transportor. I think it should look like an iPod.
I think that most of our characters should be Angels-in-training, young people who train to be Angels and sometimes tag along on missions. If they can pass their final exams, they become Angels, and get stuff like full-size wings, their own time transporters, and access to the mysterious Twelfth Floor.
((Name: Valerie Lowett
Character Type: Angel-in-training
Age: 16
Time: 2110
Appearance: Valerie has long, curly, light-brown hair, often tied back in a ponytail. Her eyes are bright blue with black eyelashes. She’s never seen without her seashell necklace; where she got this necklace from she’s never revealed to anyone.
Personality: She’s often called “bossyâ€; she enjoys independence or at least being in command. Valerie is sometimes overconfident. Despite this, she’s very resourceful and strong. She treasures time alone and is good at running.))
((Level: Junior (large translucent wings) ))
((You leave for a day or two, and then look what happens!
Name: Josephine Della-Victoria (nicknamed Jo)
Ranking: Junior (glimmering wings)
Age: appears to be around 25
Time: unknown
Appearance: Jo has jet black straight hair, with bangs to her thick eyebrows. Her eyes are a smoky emerald color. She tends to bite her lip whenever she’s thinking, which is often. She is usually seen with a collection of antiqued rings on her left hand.
Personality: Gifted with extreme patience, she enjoys training new recruits more than the missions themselves. She seems very mysterious to the angels-in-training, for there isn’t a lot of information on her; she known to be a trustworthy and loyal friend to the few that know her well.
((Oops. Looks like with the new wing ranking glittering wings are for Medial angels. Seems I’ve moved up! ))
((SFTDP, again. Her home is Australia, unknown time.))
((OK, I generally don’t do RPGs, but I’ve been RPing on another site, so I figured I’d try one out here on MB. This character is sort of based on a character from the other site that I sort of want to play but really don’t have time to. Anyways, let me know if I need to change her to make her fit this RPG better.
Name: Kristen Adams
Type: Angel-in-training (new recruit or even possibly about to be recruited)
Home: England, 2020
Age: 11
Appearance: Kristen is a tad short for her age (aka quite short) and has every so slightly wavy brown hair and brown eyes. She’s fairly pretty, although since she’s 11, most people who are older than her just see her as little an cute. She likes to wear trendy clothes, although she feels no need to dress like a 16-year-old.
Personality: Kristen has spent most of her life being overshadowed by her two older brothers who are 16 and 17. In particular, her older brother is head boy of his prestigious prep school, top of his class, and captain of the football (soccer to Americans) team. Kristen, however, doesn’t have her brothers’ natural intellect and works very hard in school hoping to live up to them. She never is the top of her class, although she gets good grades. She is extremely curious about everything, both her studies and the latest gossip. Her curiosity makes her a bit nosy, but she is fiercely loyal and would never tell anyone any of the secrets she finds out.
If anyone is interested being an Angel training Kristen, let me know. Also, if anyone is interested in playing one of Kristen’s brothers (who I could easily see being a part of the plot), definitely let me know, although if you do that, be vary wary not to make them Gary Stus. Oh, and whoever’s in charge here, please let me now if I should modify Kristen.))
((Avalon could do well with training Kristen, even though we’ve got a 10-year age gap-Avalon is willing to tell new recruits the truth about exactly what their role and job is, but she also gets shafted into answering a lot of questions, since she doesn’t lie about anything.
She also really doesn’t feel emotions, if you want to be technical; so that could be fun.))
((Oh, that could be a really interesting dynamic. I could see them getting along really well when it comes to Angel training. Kristen wants to know everything, which Avalon can help her with, and will work as hard as she can to be good Angel. But when it comes to their personal lives, there could be a bit more tension. For one thing, Kristen would probably pick up on the fact that something has “broken” Avalon and ask too many questions.))
((And then Avalon slaps Kristen across the face in the style of manga characters with personal problems in an angry state of being.
She cares about who she had to leave behind, as she spent two years in that time trying to find the person who she was sent to give the message to, and it broke her when she had to leave. I like giving my characters problems!))
(( I might take one of the brothers, as there seems to be no male characters whatsoever. ))
((OK, but if you do that, could you please either not have him recruited before Kristen… It’s sort of important to Kristen’s character that she’s lived with both her brothers (who weren’t in any way related to Angel stuff) until she was recruited.))
(( I was planning on leaving him human, possibly a future witness of a rescue mission … or maybe he is one of her missions! Ideas, ideas … ))
((Ooh! I’d love if he were one of her missions. Pwnsome role reversal.))
(( I thought you’d like it. ))
((Okay, I’ll join. I’m not promising to be active, so if need be, you can move my character along.
Name: Brenna Cathryn
Type: Junior (glittering wings)
Home: U.S.A., 2030
Age: 13
Appearance: Brenna has long black hair that is always falling in front of her pale face and eyes. When it isn’t in front of her face, you can see that her eyes are a deep green. She is small for her age, about 4’11”, and skinny. She usually wears a long white dress that covers her arms to her fingertips and sweeps the floor. Underneath her dress, she wears blue flats and light blue tights that are well-loved. She has a tiny tattoo of a blue butterfly on her ankle, but it is usually covered up.
Personality: Brenna is quiet to the point of being thought of as mute. She rarely opens her mouth to talk, even after all the futuristic treatments. You could picture her as having a hard outer shell, with a soft and tender inside. Most of her communication is with head shakes, nods, and expressions.))
((I’m thinking we should have an ordering system. Here’s what I’m thinking. It’s lowest to highest:
Angel-in-training (plain metallic wings)
Junior (small glittering wings)
Semi-expert (large glittering wings)
Expert (large glittering wings that glow)
Semi-master (small feathered wing implants)
Master (large feathered wing implants)
What do you think?))
((The wings that I designed aren’t attached to the body, but they can be modified for the different styles. It would be pretty inconvenient to have to wear them all the time, don’t you think?))
((Hm…true. Okay, can you modify it a bit so it works? Like just repost my list, but with your ideas?))
Sure, I made a post with our ideas combined in post 45. We can still use the ideas from the list, but in the way that would be practical for the wearer. ^.^
((The ‘implants’ are the ones that are implanted into the body and connected to the nervous system; since when you get to that point you don’t really have much of a life besides Angel work. I think?
The other wings are the ones that you can take on and off.))
(( LBK, I already made one.))
((Okay. I’ll copy and paste it here and maybe edit it a bit. Is that okay with you?
Angel-in-training-Small transperant wings
Junior-Large transluscent wings
Medial-Glittering wings
Senior-Large glittering wings
Master Angels-Extremely large feathered wing implants
Howsat?))
((So the Large wings are the ones that are body-sized wings (the size you’d need to actually fly, if such a thing was possible with natural wings), and the small wings are more of a stylized small size?))
((36.1.2-Yes. I think, once you become a Senior or Master Angel, you don’t really return to your “home time” very often, so you don’t need to remove your wings.
36.3-Yes. Actually, that gives me a good idea. What if you could “personalize” your wings, i.e. make them different colors/patterns/etc.? That would be kind of cool))
((Okay, I’m joining. But like LBK, I’m not promising to be active all the time. So you can move my character along if you need to.))
Name: Chronos Bottel
Type: Semi-expert (large glittering wings)
Home: U.S.A, 1830
Age: 16
Personality: Chronos is very talkative. He is not popular but tries to get people’s attention. He does not wish to be popular, but he wishes to be known.
Appearance: He has dark black hair, and is rather tall. He normally wears a t-shirt and a bow tie, along with some cargo pants. He has hazel eyes and he is a bit underweight.
((I made my time period the time of Emily Dickinson’s life so that I could be assigned to her. Is that okay?))
(( yes. I think we can start RPing now. ))
Name: Ariana Reilly
Type: Semi-expert (large glittering wings)
Home: U.S.A, 1971
Age: 24
Personality: Ariana is serious, focusing on the task at hand above all else. She is very interested in the culture of past and future eras and is often the “databank” others ask for random information. (“If this wasn’t 1742, that would be in violation of the Paris Accords of 2168.”) Usually doesn’t speak unless asked for information, unless interested in the topic of conversation. Enjoys examining machines from other eras, especially those related to photography, computing, or flight. Habitually rubs a small tattoo on the back of her neck resembling a star-burst.
Appearance: She has short brown hair and hazel eyes and is about 5’5 . She normally wears either turtlenecks and leggings under a long coat or jumpsuits with many pockets, in either case with ankle-high traveling boots and fingerless gloves. When flying, wears what look like old welding goggles with one lens red and the other blue.
The pictures have been sent!
Are we allowed to RP the historical characters that need to be rescued by the Angels?
Yupers. That’s going to be a fun thing to do. I call Cleopatra!
Okay. Do all the historical figures eventually turn into Angels after they are rescued?
Well, I personally thought that would be boring. We know that Cleopatra died mysteriously, so she could’ve, but I think an extravagant death is way more fun to write! *insert evil laugh* better for the story. Besides, it seems there are already a lot of Angels, at least in training.
Are we allowed to change the way people in history died?
Well, I wouldn’t personally, but for the sake of the story I guess you can. My opinion is no, but I don’t know how everyone else feels.
I’d say that fits squarely under the “no changing history” rule.
Yeah, I’m RPing Bizet. I do think that at the end of their lives, the Angels should rescue them and revive them, make them younger, and put them into training.
(I think you should be able to fly with all types of wings, but you can fly higher/faster/farther with the more advanced ones.
Also, maybe there are assigned wings and suits, but you can personalize your goggles and other accessories.
Is there going to be a central base that we can all time-travel to?)
Name: Sylvia Rosewood
Age: 16
Level: Junior (large translucent wings)
Home: USA, 2100
Appearance: Small and wiry with long reddish-brown hair and large blue eyes. When not on missions, she usually wears a T-shirt and jeans, sweatpants, or cargo pants. Her flight goggles resemble a diving mask, with clear lenses and purple rims.
Personality: Quiet and thoughtful. She could be considered “too compassionate”, and will help people at any cost.
(( Personality?))
“Personality: Quiet and thoughtful. She could be considered “too compassionateâ€, and will help people at any cost.” ~Rainbow*Storm
((How do we start? I say we start with a meeting in the main Angel building, where all the trainees and Angels are put into groups to go complete missions.))
Okay.
Hold on, I think we should get a more general consensus before we start anything.
I think that sounds good. Anyone else in favor?
I think that the Angels should have a central base, probably somewhere close to the sky to provide for more cover and better take-off.
Also, the wing design depicts the wings attached to a backpack-like device that the wearer could remove as necessary.
I think that, once the wearer reached the highest Angel status like Avery and Avalon, the wings would be attached to the neurological system of the body so that they would be permanent (although I did not draw Avery with the wings on).
As far as control for the wings of the lower ranks goes, there could be a chip implanted for the new angels into the cerebellum that would allow their thoughts to control the wing movement as one would control your limbs.
((Created a ref for Avalon! It’s here:
))
You’re on Deviantart, too? Cool!
Yeah. Had to improvise-the white on her chest and arms is actually scale-esque, and her boots are zipup.
Oh, cool. Wait so you’re not Hapuriainen?
Nope; I just use his dollmakers.
Oh! Well, that’s cool too!
From Agrrrfishi, a design for the angels’ wings and a picture of Avery:
Ooh, pretty! Great job, agrrrfishi!
Thank you
Thanks, GAPAS!
The first one’s drawn with traditional media (and the new fine-line cartooning pens my mom bought me for an out-of-school present!). The second one’s draw on InkArt, which is how I got the cool texture for the collar and the strange shading for the torso armour.
They’re awesome!
(( okay ‘Neko. FYI, Meg helps recruits new angels, and she has a device in her wrist.)) My time transporter beeped.
“Looks like a meeting.” I said as I pressed the white button. Instantly I was transported to the meeting room. Tons of people popped into the meeting room. Some people flew into the mysterious 12 floor. Then the head Angel sat at the table.
” The meeting will now commence!” en said.
((Maaaan, I wish I could draw as well as you guys. *pout*))
(( *appears*
I do beleive we’ve forgotten our biggest problem – grammar.
*disappears* ))
((P.S. Sorry for interrupting. *pays PoPo fine * ))
((And perhaps spelling?))
((And plot…
What exactly is going to happen at this meeting, anyway? I’m a tad confused. Besides groups and stuff. It doesn’t take long to complete one mission, does it?))
(( acutally, we are going to split up into groups like, 5 people do artists, 6 do poets, etc))
((No.
Who the heck told you that? It’s wrong. We’ll decide as the RP goes on.))
That doesn’t really make a lot of sense, and I’m pretty sure nobody ever mentioned it.
(( I mean we are going to split into groups. ))
((What was with the 12th floor? Nobody mentioned that either. Please don’t input random plot points before you tell people about them.))
(( Rainbow*Storm did. ))
Sorry, didn’t see that.
((48- Could we wait to start until everything’s settled?
Right. I like everything you’ve come up with so far. I’ll start work on my character now.
Name: Zoe (pronounced like ‘row’) Marbach
Age: 14
Personality: She has no secrets. She talks most of the time, and everyone who’s willing to listen can soon have a fairly complete picture of her view of the world. She doesn’t want to be in control herself, but she wants to have freedom, so she resents and often mimics authority.
She’s training to be an Angel.
That okay?))
what wing level is she))
((What does she look like?))
((I could see an interesting interaction between Zoe and Kristen (my character, post 35). There’s a bit of an age gap there, but since Zoe likes to tell secrets, and Kristen likes to find out secrets, I could definitely see them being friends.))
((Maybe we should figure out who’s working with whom before we start to RP.))
((I’d say that we go like this for the teams:
One master/senior
Zero/one/two medials
One/two/three new recruits/juniors
Basically, there’s always one master/senior, but can be up to four other members of a team.
Aaand…here’s a partial list of characters that I can find. (Semi-expert is either Senior or Medial, so I went with Medial?) I made up teams, too.
Masters: Avalon, Avery
Seniors: N/A
Medials: Josephine, Chronos, Ariana
Juniors: Valeria, Brenna, Sylvia
New Recruits: Megan, Kristen
————————————————–
Master/Senior: Avalon
Medials: Ariana
Juniors/New Recruits: Kristen, Valerie, Brenna
Master/Senior: Avery
Medials: Josephine, Chronos
Juniors/New Recruits: Sylvia, Megan
Avalon deals with the newer ones and has more low-tier than medials, while Avery tends to take on the more advanced ones and has an equal amount.))
((Sounds good! Thanks!))
((Megan is a Medial. ))
((Also, when the Angels-in-training are recruited, do they go live somewhere else? Can they see their family (and how often)? Can they contact their family (and again how often)?))
(( Maybe there’s something where their deaths are faked when they are chosen, and they aren’t allowed to contact family & friends. It could bring drama and mystery about the Angels’ pasts. Just my opinion. I don’t know about where they live, though. ))
(( *sigh* I see that Meg will stand alone here.))
((Personally, I think my own character would be more interesting if she could see or at the very least contact her family, since I’ve already created this dynamic with her brothers. Of course, it could be interesting exploring her not being overshadowed by her brothers for the first time, but that’s happy, and I like angst.))
((Maybe the newer recruits have time to say goodbye to their families, but are required to make it seem like they ran away, or similar. It’s possible that some new recruits will break this rule and still watch over their families, but I don’t think that the families should be involved too deeply with the character, as they are not supposed to exist.))
((I like that better.))
((I’m thinking of doing Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, but I don’t know how hard it would be to RP a male character. Hmm…or perhaps I’ll go with a composer as I always wanted before Enceladus stole my idea. Any ideas?))
((Ooh, do Saint-Exupery! I adore him. And by the way, I’m RPing a male character on another site, and it’s not hard.))
((Okay.))
((I’ve RPed female characters before. It’s pretty easy.
If you do want help, just make the lines of thinking a bit simpler, unless he’s a genius or something.))
((Presumably you intended to post this comment under your real name, which, however, the Beneficent GAPA declines to reveal.))
Darn it, I made a list of who’s who but didn’t have time to post it before. And now it’s been made slightly redundant by the new grouping idea. Whatever. I’ll post it anyway.
ANGELS
Megan (2590) – Pie girl (post 19)

Georges Bizet (mid-1800s) – Enceladus (post 23.1 and replies)
(possible) Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1st half of 1900s) – Selenium (post…56?)
((Jo is a Junior))
((Oh shoot. Sorry about that.))
((I may RP for Gandhi and Rosa Parks at some point, as well as being the rescuer of Bizet as Enc suggested in 23.1.
Selenium, perhaps you could try rescuing a revolutionary?))
((I’m going to RP a historical figure…I’m not an Angel.))
((My character:
Antoine de Saint-Exupry (1900 – 1944)
In 1944 he disappeared over the Mediterranean on a reconnaissance flight during the Second World War. Saint-Exupéry was both an aviator and an author – he is best known for his novella The Little Prince, in which…somehow…the message is hidden. Also, he shares my birthday!
Anything I forgot to add?))
((Revised list. What each team needs is next to the number: right now, we need four Medials and one Master/Senior.

TEAM 2 (Needing Medials)

(I’ll be posting an image of the skeletal structure of a Master’s wings (or, at least, Avalon’s) after this that I found on dA.)))
((Here. (I’m just using the image as a reference-I didn’t make it, simply found it and thought it had a perfect wing structure.)
The way the wing skeletal structure (without the ‘thumb’) is-the long, thin, wingbones-that’s how I imagine Avalon’s wing structure being. Between the ‘finger’ bones that make up the structure, there are white ‘feathers’, almost like a butterfly’s wings are made up of tiny scales…
Well, her wings look like they’re covered with shimmering white; but it’s actually white scales designed after a butterfly’s.))
((We currently have only two humans…perhaps we should have more. Unless the story is focusing mainly on the Angels and rescuing humans is just another part of the plot, and also a way to gain new recruits. I could always RP more characters if needed…))
((I’d say RP a Medial, and assign her to one of the three Teams. We need four of them, you creating a second character to fill up the Medial-gap won’t hurt.))
(( Well, I did say I’d do Cleopatra, so she’s another human/rescuee. ))
((Oh, that’s right. Three humans, then.
Well, perhaps I will make another character then. I generally don’t have more than one character on an RPG, but I could always try.
All right, I’ll post my Angel character later.))
((Potential problem: From what I can tell from the character bios, Kristen and Avery’s personalities would really clash… This could lead to some interesting situations, but I just don’t think that the Angels would put a new recruit with with such a bad fit. I don’t know if the unbalances anything, but would you mind swapping Kristen and Brenna? I feel like that would be more balanced.))
(( Just a warning in advance: I’m leaving for summer camp in… *counts* 6 days, and I’ll be there for a month. I really should’ve thought about that before starting this, but, ah, oh well. Anyone can RP my character(s) as seen fit. I’ll just be a bigger player later in the storyline. Sorry! ))
((You are on…Gwen’s team! So I’ll RP you, don’t worry. Hurry back, though.)
(( Thanks! Sadly, no internet allowed there. Otherwise I’d be home free – literally and figuratively. ))
((No internet allowed? What kind of sad place You’ll enjoy the..um..fresh air and exercise!))
((I have friends there, so I know it’ll be great. ))
((Yup. Have fun!))
((My second character, who is an Angel —
Name: Gwyneth Morley (Gwen – she’ll kill you if you call her Gwyneth)
Age: 14
Rank/position: Medial (that’s semi-expert, right?)
Wings: large and glittering
Personality: Sometimes reflectively quiet, sometimes can’t stop talking. Depends. I haven’t really figured exactly what her personality is, so I’ll see how it plays out.
Team: 2 (Avery, Kristen and Jo, for now)
What did I miss?))
55- Saving him as a child, or from the crash in the Sahara? (I know we’re mostly supposed to be saving people when they were young, but in cases where adults were in situations where they were stressed and would automatically dismiss any strange things they saw as a hallucination upon recovering, Angelic intervention would make sense…)
Oooh, on that note… when crossing South Georgia Island, Ernest Shackleton and his two friends said they felt as if there was a fourth person beside them even though none of them said anything at the time. And they certainly had some lucky breaks on their climb… perhaps that “fourth man” was an Angel nudging them in the right direction?
((Ooh, that sounds creepy! That could work, though…And about the saving-people-when-they’re-young-thing, Antoine DSE goes missing at age 44, which I wouldn’t call young. I thought that the Angels were going to turn them young again after rescuing them, since they would need time in their human lives to spread the message.))

Character for the medial gap.
Name: Mira
Age: 13
Was taken in: 2010, at age 10
Rank: Medial
Team: 2
Appearance: Mira has dirty-blond hair, put in pigtails reaching down to her butt. Her eyes are dark green, flecked with brown. Her skin is light, but with a slight tan. She wears a white t-shirt, cut off halfway down her chest, covered with colorful glowstick-esque butterfly silhouettes; and a pair of white dance pants (one side cut off above the knee) covered with the same glowstick-esque butterfly silhouettes. Her shoes are white hi-tops, partially unlaced, with rainbow laces tied around her ankles. She’s short, but beginning to fill out well (but despite this, still weighs less than she should).
Her wings are white-‘boned’ with coffee-colored ‘feathers’. The gears/backpack are also white. Her goggles are a pair of stylized manga riding goggles; and are coffee-framed with iridescent glass. When not flying, Mira wears them on top of her hair, above her forehead-like the second picture in post 46.
((Personality for Mira?))
((Snappy, easily angered, but very dedicated to her job. Hates talking about her past. Doesn’t sleep (well, she does, but rarely), so tends to drink a lot of caffeine. Dark circles always under her eyes.))
I forgot to say this before, but I like the group assignments so far.
((Awww, thanks! They were fun to do.))
62.1- I mean that the adults would assume the didn’t really see the Angel, but they’d remember the message, and they might think it was interesting enough to use it in their work anyway.
((I think I’ll join this.
Name: Kylee Makepeace
Age: 15
Rank: Medial (glittering wings)
Home time: 2009
Appearance: Chin-length golden-blond hair, brown eyes. Generally wears tank tops or t-shirts, jeans (usually with appliques or embroidery on them) and sandals in the summer, t-shirts, sweaters, jeans and running shoes in the winter.
Personality: Friendly, calm, and creative, although with a tendency to get slightly impatient if left waiting for a while. She likes to write poetry, draw, sing, and bake.
Team: 1
I have a suggestion for one of the people we could rescue–Agatha Christie. She disappeared for ten days and then turned up checked into a hotel under the name “Mrs Teresa Neele”. (If you watch Doctor Who, you probably knew about that already.)))
((By the way, since I haven’t done any RPGs here before (with the exception of 1 day on the very first MA RPG before it moved too fast), do we write IC posts in first or third (limited) person? I personally prefer third, since it lets you expand a little more on the character’s background and situation. Also, it’s more good writing and less “I drop a bomb, and they DIE!!!”))
((Updated! Now only team 3 needs people. We need a Senior and a Medial for it…

64 (Kai) –
Perhaps there could be one post at the beginning of each human’s ‘story’ on the apparent Angels’ visit and message, describing how they incorporated the message into their book/art/composition.
Then the next post would pick up the story several years later, at the end of ens life, when the Angels rescue them when they are near death.
So it would look like:
-En was walking when en thought en heard someone behind en, but there wasn’t, later that day en felt inspired to compose a requiem, how strange it was.
(next post) -Several years later, and en is about to die. POUF! An Angel/several Angels appear and rescue en.
It’s just an idea, unless you guys think there should be more posts on the actual life of the person.
Valerie Lowett (Rosebud’s character):
Nice drawing, Rosebud!
What happened to her boot? It looks like part of it was erased, but it’s not like that on the file on my computer, or when I view the file as attached to the email I sent.
Selenium- Thanks! I think it turned out okay, but I couldn’t get her hair to look exactly right.
The Photobucket editor was behaving weirdly last night, eventually crashing my browser. (I cropped the white space and removed a grey splotch.) Something must have happened in the process, but I didn’t notice it at the time. I’ll try to remember to fix it tonight.
Sylvia nervously braided her hair as the Director called the meeting to order. She should have been happy to finally be a Junior – away from boring classes like Theory Of Flight and Basic History, and finally allowed to do real missions. But she just felt awkward. She was older than the young teenagers and younger than the adults. She was above the new recruits, but still a complete neophyte as an Angel. And in the two weeks since she’d become a Junior, there had been no necessary missions at her level.
The only thing she felt comfortable with was her new wings. They were translucent white, each wing about three feet long – too long for her to touch the tips. They felt like real Angel wings.
Brenna shifted in her chair, her translucent white wings scraping against the hard backed chair. She was glad not to have to sit through the boring Angel-in-Training classes anymore, but she still felt like a total newbie. Brenna still hadn’t had any missions, and it was boring, having to sit through meetings.
((I could make a Medial for Team 3:
Name: Trinity Olanai
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Description: Trinity is pretty tall, about 5’8″. She usually wears a blue tank top that says “Beach+Surf+Sand=FUN!” on it, jean shorts, and purple flip-flops. Her wings are shimmery, like a rainbow was threaded between the fibers, and her goggles are, uh, the best description would be spattered. When she flies, she also wears knee-high boots that are light blue.
Personality: Trinity is very much a White Rabbit (/Alice reference :P) because she hates to waste time. She is always moving, pacing if it’s allowed and tapping her foot when it’s not. She is pretty protective of her friends, though, and would do almost anything to save them.
Rank: Medial (glittering wings)
Team: Team 3))
Jo sits cross-legged in her chair, ring-covered hands on her knees, staring at the Director. This is her last year as a junior, and wants to make a good impression. There weren’t many junior assignments this year, but next year … next year will be different. She flicks her indigo wings forward and back for a bit of air conditioning in the crowded room. The Masters have noticed how well she controls her wings, even though she’s just a junior. Remembering that little bit of flattery makes Jo sit up in her chair just a bit straighter. She can’t wait for the group assignments, and as if reading her mind, the Director starts to call down Group 1.
((What do you think?))
Valerie was impatient but excited as she waited for the meeting to begin. Finally, a mission! It often made her feel insignificant that she was one of the older trainees at her low level. But these wings- larger than any she’d had, and a translucent white, still a little unfamiliar, felt full of energy. They had the power to accomplish things, and would, once I got a mission.
Meg’s teal wings fluttered so quickly she flew an inch in the air. She glanced at the Director.
” Team 3.” She called. ” Valerie, Sylvia, Meg, and Trinity.” Meg slowly walked down, her wings beating.
It was early in the morning, when all were supposed to be in bed. A younger trainee opened the door to Avery’s room while she was asleep, opened the long shade and letting moonlight trail in across the stone floor.
“Miss Mathis, time to wake up,” the young girl said, shaking Avery awake. “The new recruits have arrived.”
Avery sat up in bed, stretched and opened her eyes. It was time.
“Thanks,” she said to the young recruit, who smiled in return and walked out of the room without another word. She got up quietly from her bed, careful not to make too much noise. The long, white-feathered wings that protruded from a spot halfway down her spine fluttered noiselessly so that her toes barely scraped the ground. She pulled on her white suit, and slid into a pair of grey boots while hurriedly tying back her unruly mane of hair.
“They have no idea what they’re in for,” she said quietly to herself as she locked the door to her room and left.
Arriving at the meeting room quite late, she opened the door quietly, so as not to make too much noise. It was dimly lit, but crowded with young men and women, all wearing wings, all looking excitedly at the director who sat at the end of the long table. A few heads turned as she entered, as though admonishing her for making so much noise, but she ignored them and dropped into a seat next to Avalon.
“Lots of new people,” she commented. “I’m anxious to see how they all turn out this year.” Moments after she had sat, it was time to call the group. She stood up, flew to a spot on the north wall, and called for them.
“Group Two,” she called over the tumult. “Gwenyth, Mira, Brenna and Josephine.”
((I will post this every ten posts if I need to. We already have 14 Angels, posting the list every bit can’t hurt. (We still need a Senior/Master for team 3…) And let’s create the Director-she’s an NPC, and can be played by anyone, I’m just making her to make it easier. I’m also editing Avalon’s profile a bit! And I’m doubleposting! Yay!

————————————————————————-
Name: Director Caelum
Gender: Female
Age: Looks to be in her early 20s, but somewhere in her 60s-80s, as she was the very first Angel. Also worked on the creating of an angel’s wings, and created the Angel program in the first place.
Appearance: Straight black hair reaching to her shoulders. Mildly tanned skin. Golden eyes that appear to stare straight into your soul. Tall and willowy. (If she has implants or not is up to someone else.)
Name: Avalon. Just Avalon. She has no use for last names.
Gender: Female
Age: Looks to be about 18, but honestly; nobody has a clue except Director Caelum and Avery about how old Avalon really is.
Appearance: Post 46. The white is actually thin ‘scales’ that spread over: her chest in a bit of a v-shape ending between her assets, her arms in a bit of a spiral pattern (they spiral around her arms). She wears a pair of teal zip-up boots; a lavender t-shirt with sleeves reaching down to her elbows, a pair of white fingerless gloves, and a pair of knee-length pants ending right above her boots. Her eyes are icy neon blue.))
Jo smiled, then glided effortlessly next to Gwen. The rumors about Gwen’s ruthlessness excited Jo, for she wanted to get the most out of this year.
((JJ – Do you have a name for Kristen’s brother? I’m going to mention him in my first IC post. If not, I’ll just come up with a name for him in my post, and you can change it later.))
((No ideas. I can’t think of anything at the moment, so call him what you want.))
((For characters-put them in your))
AVALON
“I as well,” Avalon replied to Avery, waiting for the teams to be called. And as they were, she hesitated until team two was called.
The redhead hovered in the air, draconic-boned white wings fluttering back and forth to provide lift. “Team 1,” she called, projecting her voice across the room, “Ariana, Kylee, Kristen, Zoe. Come to the west wall.” There was one black-haired boy, she saw, who looked let down by not being assigned to a team-but he was a Medial, and would have to wait. Medials tended to get the least team assignments, after all; there were just so many of them. And, as of yet, team 3 was still not led by anyone-she could assign him to them, but they already had three Medials; another one would unbalance the structure!
MIRA
“Yeah?” Mira grinned, flying over to Avery, her coffee-colored wings flapping a bit maniacally. As always, the dark circles beneath her eyes were there-she appeared to have given herself coffee this morning, though, which was good. This will be good.
Brenna got up excitedly. Finally, a mission. She walked over to the northern wall where an Angel with extremely large feathered wings stood. Brenna wandered over. “Hey, I’m Brenna,” she said to what seemed to be the leader.
(( I guess I can make a Senior for team 3.
Name: Lydia Velostic
Age: 14
Rank: Senior
appearence: Pink hair with red highlights. Wears yellow shirt with eggs that says: ‘ sunny side up!’ and orange jeans.
Time: 1885
Personality: Random. Hates gray, black, and white. Is addicted to technology. ))
“Hello,” Avery said gently to the girls who had gathered around. “It’s very nice to meet you all, even though some of you I already know.” She glanced knowingly at Mira, whose wings fluttered spastically behind her wide grin, and the quiet Gwen who stared at her a tad impatiently.
“For whom I don’t know, I have names. Brenna?” she said to a girl with long black hair, who nodded. “And you must be Jo,” she said to the other, who had a cluster of rings on her hand.
“Well, we’re all here,” she said. “Now, who’s ready to go on their missions?”
((Wait, so for each mission, should I be assigning famous people to each Angel? We’re not all going in the same groups, right?))
Brenna raised her hand. She really wanted to go on a mission. She jumped up and down like a first grader.
Trinity, meanwhile, was still in her seat. She was picking at her fingernail., because the Master for her group was not here yet. “Pshh,” she said under her breath. “Figures Lydia is late. You can never tell what she’s going to do.”
((I have already picked out who I am going to save. I’ll start now…))
I am ready, agrrrfishi. I belive I will set off to the time of Emily Dickinson.
As I traveled back in time, I thought about what it what be like to save someone who didn’t want to be popular, like me. I supposed that when she met me, we would be good friends. I decided just to play it normal.
I arrived. I hope this won’t be too hard…
((What is time travel like, by the way? And how do you do it?))
((Maybe it could be kind of like Apparating, where you’re squeezed through a narrow tube and then suddenly burst out. Only the “tube” is between times, not places.))
((I had supposed we used our wings to time travel.))
((Me too.))
((84-Sure! Here it is:
Angel-in-training-Small transperant wings
Junior-Large transluscent wings
Medial-Glittering wings
Senior-Large glittering wings
Master Angels-Extremely large feathered wing implants))
((May I join? What’s going on, exactly? *is back from month-long absence*))
((Improved bio for Sylvia:
Name: Sylvia Rosewood
Age: 13 (Yep, I changed her age. Just think of her as 13 from now on.)
Level: Junior (large translucent wings)
Home: USA, 2020 (Slightly in the future, but not way ahead.)
Appearance: Small and wiry with long reddish-brown hair and large blue eyes. When not on missions, she usually wears a random T-shirt and jeans, sweatpants, or cargo pants. Her flight goggles resemble a diving mask, with clear lenses and purple rims.
Personality: Quiet and thoughtful. She is compassionate, and joined the Angels because she wants to help people. (This could also be considered a bad thing, as she would choose saving a single person over saving history.) She loves to read.
Life story: Like most kids after the education system collapsed, she was homeschooled. With all the new technology to aid fast learning, she “graduated” at the typical age 12. She was expected to join the family business of eTech (maker of eTunes, ePhones, eComputers, and so on), but she insisted on being an Angel. Her parents respect her decision, but it’s sort of an awkward subject when they visit.))
Sylvia wandered over to join the others in Group 3. They were three girls – one younger than her, the other two older. No one really seemed to be the leader.
((Problem. For one thing, I thought Angels chose trainees. Pretty much, nobody knows about the Angels, and when you’re chosen, you go. It’s not really a choice. I thought we also determined that Angels didn’t see their families, and their families believed they had run away. Also, Kristen is from 2020, and the world she lives in is very different from Sylvia’s. For example, you say that the education system collapsed, while I mention that Kristen’s 17-year-old brother is in prep school. We could of course hand wave this by saying things work differently in US than in Britain, but frankly, I don’t expect that we’ll have the technology for people to finish their studies at age 12 ten years from now. Maybe make your character from somewhere from 2030 to 2050.))
Final (unless anyone has objections) bio for Sylvia.
Name: Sylvia Rosewood
Age: 13
Level: Junior (large translucent wings)
Home: USA, 2040
Appearance: Small and wiry with long reddish-brown hair and large blue eyes. When not on missions, she usually wears a random T-shirt and jeans, sweatpants, or cargo pants. Her flight goggles resemble a diving mask, with clear lenses and purple rims.
Personality: Quiet and thoughtful. She is compassionate, and joined the Angels because she wants to help people. (This could also be considered a bad thing, as she would choose saving a single person over saving history.) She loves to read.
Life story: She had a fairly normal life up through age 11. At age 12, the Angels decided she would make a good Angel. They took her to their secret base, sending her family only an anonymous note that said she was safe and had consented to go. After six months of Angel-in-training training, she graduated to be a Junior. She has still not been assigned to any missions.
((Do you think maybe I should make Valerie younger, too? I’m not trying to copy you, but I thought maybe it would be weird if she was way older than everyone.))
(( I refuse to change Meg’s age. She’s ten for a reason.))
AVALON
Avalon smiled at her group, but it was a small smile, and disappeared as soon as it came. “Hello, Kristen, Zoe. I am Avalon, your team leader. The Medials of our team are Ariana and Kylee-” she gestured at each one in turn- “and these are the only people you’ll actually deal with for quite a while, excluding me, so get used to it. Any questions?”
Despite the eyes-neon blue, quite impressive-she showed no emotion in her face. Avalon’s movements were graceful, but without feeling; and her statements were clear of any emotion. They were simply two statements and a question, without any extra feelings tacked on (or any feelings at all, for that matter); and she didn’t appear to feel anything.
MIRA
The tween rose up onto her tiptoes, attempting to thrust her hand higher than Brenna’s, her wings quivering with movement as she kept herself from lifting off the floor. “What sorta missions are we getting, Avery?”
((I’ve made Kristen’s oldest brother’s name Richard for now. His RPer can feel free to change it. Oh, and her other brother is named Derek for now.))
KRISTEN
Everything was coming so fast she couldn’t believe it. She, Kristen Olivia Adams, was an Angel. A real Angel. She had wings and everything. Her roommate had reminded her that wings were puny and see-through and not good for all that much yet and that she was still an Angel-in-training and had lots and lots of classes to take before she was really an Angel, but she didn’t care. She was going to ace all the classes and become the best Angel ever. OK, probably not. She always worked as hard as she possibly could to be the top of her class like Richard, but she never was. It was disappointing. Also, if she were the little one among the Angels for a little while, she didn’t care. It wasn’t like she wasn’t used to it.
But now, she got to do something that neither of her brothers could. Yesterday, she had found out that she had been selected to be an Angel. Oh, she would show her brothers who was cool. Well, actually, she wouldn’t, because it had been made very clear to her that she would not be seeing her family, who believed that Kristen had run away, ever again. It’s not like they would care with two incredibly praise-worthy boys around. Kristen never got any attention anyways.
She was super excited to be at her very first super special Angel meeting. She had heard rumors that new recruits were going to help out with missions. New recruits almost never got to help out with missions. Clearly, she was special. She liked being the special one for once. When she got there, all the Angels and Angels-in-Training were mingling. They all knew each other. Kristen didn’t know anyone. But she didn’t fret. After all, soon enough, she would get to know them, their hobbies, their deepest darkest secrets…
Soon enough, the meeting commenced. As far as Kristen could tell, there were only two actual Angels there, and they were in charge. Everyone else was in training like her. Of course, most of them were in higher levels of training than her, but she knew she would get there eventually. Eventually… But she couldn’t worry about how long it would take. She was about to find out her very first job as an Angel. One of the Angels (the real ones, the ones in charge) told them that they would be announcing three groups, each containing a balance of Angel levels and all but the last led by an Angel. Each group would go on a different mission. Everyone else would just have to wait until next time. Kristen crossed her fingers. She just had to be assigned a group or else she would pine away and die. Or something.
Fortunately, she was saved the trouble of figuring out how one pines away and dies, since one of the Angels, a strangely stoic redhead, announced “Team 1. Ariana, Kylee, Kristen, Zoe. Come to the west wall.†Kristen didn’t just come to the west wall. She bounded to the west wall. She had been picked for a group that was going to go on a mission and save the world. And not just any group, the first group, which was obviously the most important.
As the other group members (who were such slowpokes) made their way to the wall, Kristen took the chance to better examine the Angel. The first thing she noticed was that she had neon blue eyes. She would have to ask the Angel how one got neon blue eyes, since it wasn’t a natural eye color, and the only way that Kristen knew to get that color eyes was to use color contacts that her parents certainly wouldn’t let her get and that didn’t even work with brown eyes. She also was amazed that the Angel’s face seemingly had no emotion. There had to be some reason for that, some reason that the Senior Angel probably wouldn’t just tell her. Of course, the fact that she wouldn’t just be told excited Kristen’s curiosity more, and she made a priority of finding out why her group leader was so emotionless.
Finally, everyone was there, and the Angel was about to speak. Kristen noticed a vague hint of a smile for half a second, but she wasn’t sure if she had just imagined it, since the Angel’s face was as emotionless as ever when she looked again. The Angel announced, “Hello, Kristen, Zoe. I am Avalon, your team leader. The Medials of our team are Ariana and Kylee.†Names! People! Whole new worlds of possibility! Kristen didn’t want to miss anything the Angel, who seemed to be named Avalon, was saying, but otherwise she would have made long mental lists of exactly she wanted to find out about each person. The Angel continued, “and these are the only people you’ll actually deal with for quite a while, excluding me, so get used to it.” Well, that was rude. What if Kristen wanted to know more people. They could tell her stuff about the Angels. People were such wonderful beings when they weren’t busy pretending Kristen didn’t exist.
Finally, Avalon asked, “Any questions?†This was the most dangerous thing you could possibly ask Kristen. Kristen always had questions. She usually had ninety bajillion questions, and at the moment, she had quite a few more. She figured she’d start out with a simple one, and blurted out, ignoring all rules of decorum, “What’s our mission gonna be?”
Lydia cartwheeled in, still feeling cheery. ” Ok, I’m your team leader. Welcome to team 3!” She announced.
“You’re late.” Trinity muttered.
Lydia ignored her. ” Okay, so, I am now going to asigin you to Famous people.. Two people to each person. Trinity and Valerie, you are going to help Leonardo DaVinci. The time is 1492. Meg and Sylvia, you’ll be helping Galileo. The time is 1608. ”
Meg set her TTD to 1608. Her wings fluttered. But then, she sunk into her chair. Her siblings died in 1608. Her happiness diminished. She was no longer excited.
ARIANA:
“Team 1. Ariana, Kylee, Kristen, Zoe. Come to the west wall.â€
Ariana obeyed, making her way to the west wall as a young recruit with brown hair raced ahead of them. Since she’d never seen the girl before, she assumed she was one of the juniors, either Zoe or Kristen.
“Hello, Kristen, Zoe. I am Avalon, your team leader. The Medials of our team are Ariana and Kylee.†Avalon announced, addressing the young girl. “and these are the only people you’ll actually deal with for quite a while, excluding me, so get used to it.â€
She saw Kristen frown at these words, before blurting out “What’s our mission gonna be?â€
Very spirited, Ariana thought. A bit wild, but I think she’ll do okay.
Trinity sighed and got up with her partner, Valerie. “Uh, Lydia?” Trinity said. “What are we saving Mr. daVinci from?”
“You will be sent in pairs of two, to rescue a famous person in the past from facing an untimely death that could alter the timeline and change the way our future is at this very moment. Your success is vital to the present.” Avery smiled at the group. “But, no pressure.”
“Who’s going with who?” Mira blurted.
“Each medial will be paired with a junior, so the pairs will be Gwen with Jo, and Mira with Brenna. Does that sound good?” The girls nodded. “I’ll be traveling on my own,” Avery added. “Once you become a master, you don’t need much backup.”
((Does anyone have a preference as to whom they want to save?))
((Well, we know that Avery will be saving Bizet.))
((Yep! ))
((CLEOPATRA!!!!!))
The higher-ranking Angels handed Meg and Sylvia time transporters. Sylvia smiled nervously at the younger girl, then they pressed the buttons.
WHOOSH! Everything went black for an instant, and then Sylvia was standing on hard dirt ground, in the middle of a village. Meg had just appeared a few yards away. It was night, and a billion stars sparkled overhead, like twinkling silver glitter against pitch-black fabric. She remembered her home time, when the night sky glowed a sickly orange from light pollution, and decided that the stars were the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
FLORENCE, ITALY: 1608
, said the time transporter’s screen.
AVALON
“As some of you are new to the program, we’re required to start out with a simple mission: in this case, hiding a message inside a book of the past. Here’s your choices.”
Avalon handed out four lists, keeping one for herself. Each had a list, and each line looked somewhat like this:
Eragon, Christopher Paolini, 2000-2010: 63-8-1-2
Each had the title of the book, the author, the time period we’d be entering for it, and the code to be hidden. There were at least 15 entries on the list; and they were interesting-all famous books or book series, and some were in .
“As there are four of you, we’re going to pair people up. Zoe, you’ll be with Kylee; and Kristen, you’ll be with Ariana. I’ll be watching over both groups. You have two minutes to decide which group is taking which mission.” She turned to face the wall, waiting for the answers.
MIRA
Mira appeared to rapidly deflate as the question was posed, sinking to the floor. “I didn’t really think about that, Avery,” she rolled her eyes, “perhaps you could assign us stuff? You know I’m not the sort of person to come up with assignments off the top of my head!”

DIRECTOR
Director Caelum (NPC)
Name: Serenity Winters
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Rank/team: recently promoted to Senior; was on team 3 anyways and just stayed there
Appearance: White hair in a raver-esque cut, streaked with rainbow streaks. Her skin is obscenely pale, but spotted with many freckles; especially around her face. Her eyes are bright golden yellow. She’s of average height, but a willowy build. Her wings are black-boned, with bright rainbow shimmering ‘feathers’. Outfit ref below (I didn’t draw it).
http:/ /fc01.dev iantart.n et/f s50/f/2009/25 7/6/a/Raver_Outfit_2_by_dark heroCor vus.jpg
Personality: Serenity is quite irresponsible, and it’s a wonder how she managed to get to Senior. She daydreams, she’s clumsy, and has trouble getting along with anyone at all-yet she does her job surprisingly well. Serenity is a night person, and stays as far away from bright sunlight as she can.))
SERENITY
Serenity walked into the room, yawning. “Oh, hey, Lydia,” she muttered, stretching her arms, “these our new recruits?” She looked thoughtful for a few seconds. “Valerie and Sylvia, am I right? Oh, hey, Trinity~”
(( heh.. That’s kind of funny/ punny ))
” Well, he just went to the beach for an insperation trip, and that beach happens to be infested with sharks. As for gailileo, It’s always something. Last time he almost fell off the tower. He’s been kiddnapped.”
1608 is a dangerous year. Meg decided.
” Lydia, where are you going?” She inquired.
” To save Beetoven. (( I know I spelled it wrong but my heads being pulled.)) ” Lydia replied. She walked forward and her wings shimmered. She flapped them and… She dissappeared.
” Sweet!” Meg said. She couldn’t wait to get her implants. And her halo! She would save everyone!
‘Hello there,’ Gwen said quietly to Jo, who was standing beside her. ‘Looks like we’re together, eh?’
Jo smiled. ‘Yep. Guess I’m stuck with you for this mission.’
Gwen laughed. ‘So who do you think we’re going to save first?’
‘No idea,’ Jo shrugged. ‘Better wait till Avery tells us.’
‘I hope it’s someone interesting,’ said Gwen, her eyes shining. ‘I’m excited, aren’t you?’
‘I sure am,’ said Jo, then added impulsively, ‘but you’d better not do anything stupid, Gwyneth.’
For a second, Gwen’s eyes flared. ‘I wouldn’t do anything stupid,’ she said. ‘And don’t call me Gwyneth,’ she snapped.
‘Only if you don’t call me Josephine.’
‘Deal.’ said Gwen quickly, and both Angels laughed.
((I’m going to expand on Gwen’s personality:
Gwen has a sharp mind and if you try to argue with her, she will almost always win – she would make a good lawyer. She is kind to most people, except those who irritate her, and is easy to be friends with. Gwen is not always the most patient person, and can be a bit headstrong or stubborn, but will agree with you if you present a convincing and logical case. She makes a good companion, though she can occasionally depend more on her known abilities than her effort. Gwen is smart, and she knows it, but doesn’t act stuck-up about; she realises that it is an asset others might appreciate but there is no point in trying to change their opinions if they’re negative.))
” Lydia, Aren’t you going to tell them what to do after that?” Serenity said.
” Well, Its not fair if I do all the leading.” Lydia said.
((Ooh, could we do Little Women? I’ll be Alcott if need be… And I’ve thought of a pattern that would be encoded in there: 1225~B1225.))
“Patience is a virtue,” Avery replied to Mira, rolling her eyes and grinning. “All right, now down to team assignments.”
“Gwen and Jo, you two are going to be rescuing Cleopatra VII. She is commonly known only by her first name, and functioned as the last ruler over Egypt. After her death, Egypt became a province of Rome. As a child of ten, she was very adventurous, and wandered into the pyramid tomb of one of her great-uncles to go exploring. Unwittingly, she was lost within the labyrinth of the tomb for three days, starved near the point of death. That is where you must hunt her down, rescue her and lead her out of the tomb. You’ll be travelling to 79 BC.” The girls nodded excitedly.
“Mira and Brenna, your task today is extremely important to the sanctity of United States history. You will be rescuing Thomas Jefferson, the well-known president who, before his time in office, wrote the Declaration of Independance, and was one of the most influential of the Founding Fathers. Thomas lived on a plantation for most of his life, but his grandfather owned several ships which he was allowed to board and ride on with his grandfather. On one such a trip, a terrible storm came the way of the ship, nearly killing everyone on board and washing them overboard while Thomas and his grandfather were below deck. Thomas fell overboard when he came above deck. This is where you must go, to find him, rescue him and bring him safely back to shore.”
((Cleopatra was born in 69 B.C., so she’d have been 10 years old in 59 B.C., not 79 B.C.))
((Oops. I always forget that time markings in B.C. go backwards. *headdesk*))
((If this were a comedy, they could arrive 20 years too early and try to rescue the wrong Cleopatra. They’d have had no trouble finding one: “Cleopatra” was a popular name among the Ptolemies, and Cleopatra VII Philopator (the one we care about) had several relatives with the same name — including her big sister and probably her mother.))
((I could totally see that happening!
When I read her page on Wikipedia, it got very confusing because of the amount of Cleopatras. I could see their group making that mistake.))
Zoe was extremely excited. She had joined the Angels mere days ago, and she was already assigned to a team. Her natural instinct was to tell every one exactly how excited she was, but she thought it would be better not to talk until the Master, Avalon, was finished.
SERENITY
“Lyyydia,” Serenity hissed, “stop with the lying!” And then the other Senior disappeared, and a look of acute disappointment appeared on her face. “Lydiaaa…”
She looked a bit happier. “So, girls, Lydia was lying and dramatizing everything. She tends to do that, sorry; we’re not doing anything so obviously reeking of bad fiction as what she pointed out. What we can and will be doing, however,” the rainbow-raver-clothed girl said amicably, “is saving Susan B. Anthony. She was a schoolteacher involved in the temperance and abolitionist movements before joining with others to champion women’s rights. As a four-year-old child, she took a ride on a boat with her father, was washed overboard, and later said that she had been saved by angels that way.” Serenity smiled. “We need to be the angels that saved her.”
MIRA
Mira frowned. “Awww, but I don’t like the really old times! I can never remember which president did which thing, or what order they’re in!”
AVALON
“Kristen,” Avalon said clearly, still facing the wall, “if you’re interested in taking Alcott, you need to make sure that Ariana is as well. Kylee, Zoe, if you can’t decide on anything, I recommend Christopher Paolini; there’s the way of entering a code and then there’s the way of inspiring him in the first place.”
“I can’t wait for this mission! This will be the farthest back in time I’ve ever gone,” Jo babbled to Gwen, who was becoming a fast friend. She stopped for a second, then turned to Gwen and said, “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!” The Angels smiled at each other, pulled out their transporters, and pressed the the button.
“Well then, now would be a good time to learn,” Avery told Mira, giving her a small smirk. “You’re free to leave now that you understand what you’re doing.”
“I can’t wait for this mission! This will be the farthest back in time I’ve ever gone,†said Jo. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!†The teams of angels smiled at one another and began the time transportation.
“Don’t forget to report back once your mission is complete,” Avery reminded them. “And don’t stay in the past for too long, either.”
Once they were gone, Avery went over to the director. “Hello, Director Caelum. Who is it today?”
“I have a special mission for you,” Caelum replied. “Georges Bizet. And this,” she handed Avery a small slip of parchment folded twice over, “is a code that you must deliver to him. It is imperative to the history of time travel.”
“Will do,” Avery nodded. She slipped the parchment up her sleeve and out of sight.
((Enc, how did you want to do this?))
((Hmmm… I just thought of a way Carl Sagan could be a rescue!))
((Help! I don’t know how to start rescuing Cleopatra!))
((You could start by taking off your wings. Those Egyptian tombs had pretty narrow halls.
It’s unlikely that Cleopatra would have been lost inside a pyramid, though. The pyramids were already thousands of years old by the time she was born, and they were hundreds of miles south of her capital city, Alexandria. And, like all the members of her family, the Ptolemies, she wasn’t really Egyptian, but Greek. Still, maybe her uncle wanted to do something old-fashioned and different.))
((Sorry, I really had no idea what to say. After all, it’s only a story.))
((Ah, thank you very much. I need to brainstorm.))
((She does quite a bit of exploring in the Royal Diaries book, it’s not inconceivable that she’d get lost in a pyramid.))
” Okay, Sylvia, we should probably head to the country. ((FYI, the time is now 1553)) “
((Galileo lived in Italy … did you see my earlier post?))
(( yeah. i meant the country side.))
(( Oh.. Dang.1578 .OK? ))
“Okay. Let’s go before someone sees us.” Sylvia and Meg flapped their wings and rocketed up into the sky.
Flying at night was amazing, but she wished there was a cloud layer to hide above. Her transporter said: FLY 100 FEET HIGHER TO MINIMIZE VISIBILITY.
” Good thing the telescope doesn’t exist yet.” Meg said.
Meg loved the fresh air, something she rarely experiences.
“What do you think he looks like?” Meg asked Sylvia.
Valerie trailed a few feet behind Sylvia and Meg, unsure of how to enter the younger girls’ conversation. She didn’t want to make it seem like she was shy, but it wouldn’t it be like interrupting to say anything now?
So she focused on the joy of flying; this was real flying, not the dodging of holograms with puny little wings back in the Angels’ training center.
The world they were in now was unfamiliar. It was quiet, dark, empty. There was no pollution. But Valerie realized, it wasn’t empty- just empty of enormous cities and people everywhere. It wasn’t a bad effect, even if Valerie wouldn’t want to live now.

((Um, guys… what ARE the assignments for Team 1?))
“I don’t know,” Sylvia answered. “How old would he be now?”
She noticed Valerie was trailing a few feet behind, and let her catch up. For a few moments the three girls said nothing, wrapped in the joy of swooping through the glittering black sky.
But the fun was soon to end. They were almost there, and then the real work would begin.
(( CALLING ENCELADUS! You’re up!))
” He would be 14. ” Meg said, looking up from her kPhone. ” 5’3, weighs about 101 lbs.” They hovered over Pisa. ” And, I think this is our stop. ” The angels folded their wings and hit the ground.
Meanwhile, Galileo walked into the gardens, avoiding his brothers. He was strolling along the garden, his stomach growling.
(( I was thinking we could save him from eating nightshade berries. Then ask him to tell his brother, Michelangelo, to make a statue of us.))
((Michaelangelo Galilei was born in 1575, so if you were traveling to 1578, he would only be three and physically unable to sculpt you. Not only that, but he was a composer and not a sculptor.
Plus, wouldn’t a sculpture of giant, futuristic angels be a bit of a time paradox and a giveaway?))
(( sorry. And I mean in the future. Maybe he could engrave something?))
((Again, I kind of doubt he would engrave something, and even if he did, it would probably create some kind of weird rip in the space time continuum once people realized what the picture was of and asked Galilei about it.))
((Pie girl, are you thinking of Michelangelo the artist — Michelangelo Buonarroti? He wasn’t related to Galileo, was much older, and died just a few days after Galileo was born.))
(( CURSE YOU WIKIPEDIA!!!!))
((Nonsense! Wikipedia is your friend. And contrary to popular belief, things that happened a long time ago did NOT all happen at the same time.))
((Really? You mean that the Egyptians weren’t busy building their pyramids when Napoleon arrived? :D))
((It wouldn’t hurt to jot down a few biographical notes, dates and ages, geography, and so forth, for the historical characters. It’s easy to lose track without something concrete for reference.))
((That’s very true. *goes off to research Bizet*))
((PP my characters?))
I turned to Kylee. “Where are we going? There’s a bunch of authors on this list, but I don’t really read that much. Do you? I get a bit bored when I read for too long. Anyway, what do you think?”
((Koppar? I note you suggested Agatha Christie; do you want to rescue her?))
((Yeah, Agatha Christie would be fine.))
((Okay. I don’t know much about her disappearance… Ah well. I’ll figure it out.))
(( new thread?))
(( I guess that Gailileo could look at secert coordinates to the base. And then keep them a secert forever. ))
((OK, this would probably change my Little Women storyline, so we can scrap that or rework it, but if we’re allowed to make historical figures who died at a young age into Angels (which makes sense), I’d really like to play this character. Also, if 23 is too old for an Angel, I suppose I could make her younger, but then we get into the historical accuracy stuff. Anyways, I’m highly basing her on Beth from Little Women but using any actual historical details I can find. So here goes.
Name: Elizabeth Sewall Alcott, called Lizzie
Age: 23
Level: Senior
Home year and location: Massachusetts, 1858
Appearance: Lizzie has brown hair, brown eyes, and a rosy complexion. She usually dresses modestly (long dresses), since that was expected in 1858, the year she comes from. She is often sickly.
Personality: Lizzie is extremely shy, much preferring to talk to her cats and dolls than to people (or other Angels). She is extremely selfless, sometimes ignoring her own needs so much to become sick. Her two passions in life are playing the piano and helping people. Because of the latter, the Angels selected her. She had recovered from scarlet fever two years earlier and was still quite sickly, so the Angels feigned Lizzie’s death, while Lizzie became an Angel. At this point, she has been an Angel for a long time.))
((Okay, I have an idea for how Ariana and Kristen could rescue Carl Sagan as a kid, if nobody else has other plans, could we do that?))
((That sounds great, but I thought we had been assigned books… But if you could twist that plot around, great!))
((Well, they said the missions were chosen from a list of authors whose books Zoe had never read. He WAS an author…))
((Sounds good. Could you post next? I’ll respond based on that.))
((Okay, I’ll post tomorrow.))
((Sounds good. I don’t know whether I’ll be able to respond quickly, since I’m off college visiting, and I like to make my IC posts long, but I’ll try.))
“I’ve never seen any of these names before.” Kristen protested, reading down the list of authors Avalon had given them. “Like Carl Sagan, who’s he?”
“A 20th Century astronomer and exobiologist influential in the early robotic exploration of the solar system.” Ariana said. It was the first time Kristen had heard the older girl speak.
“That’s correct. In 1939, when he was five years old, his parents took him to the World’s Fair in Queens, New York, not far from their home in Brooklyn. As you might imagine, it was easy for a small boy interested in science to become distracted, and Carl was separated from his parents. When he found them again, he said two strangely-dressed women had saved him. That would be you two.”
((That post is fine, but in the future would you mind not godmodding? That is, for every character but your own, don’t put words in en’s mouth, and don’t describe their emotions and reactions (except in an extremely vague sense) unless they’ve already been stated by the character’s RPer?))
((Sorry. I didn’t realized I was controlling. Please forgive me, I’ll try not to do it again.))
Team 3 hovered above the garden, watching the boy wander closer to the nightshade bush.
“Should we distract him, or get rid of the plant before he sees it?” asked Sylvia hesitantly.
((i really need Enc to come back!))
((ENCELADUS, YOU’RE NEEDED!!))
((*comes to attention*
Yes? What should I post?
I’ve wanted to, lurked for a while, just couldn’t cut in at the right time.))
((Not sure, but I didn’t want to PP Bizet because I know that he’s yours. ))
” I think a combo. Can you guys get the plant? I’ll distract him.” I said. I flew down.
” Hi! I’m Meg! How do you do? What are ya’ doin’ ? ” Meg said.
” I’m.. uh… picking berries for a pie.” He said.
SERENITY
The rainbow-clothed girl just stood there for a few seconds, before looking like she’d been utterly inspired. She turned the dial, blinking out in the blink of an eye to go watch her team.
Grinning, Serenity watched Sylvia. There was a reason she was a Senior-and part of that was her unorthodox method of teamwork and watching!
AVALON
“Kristen, Ariana,” Avalon stated, neon-blue eyes gazing directly at them, “I presume you’d like to take on the role of saving Carl Sagan?” She almost grimaced, if such a thing was possible by the ice queen. “That’s one of the oddest missions, as you’ll be seen by many others of that time.” The crimson-haired young woman took a breath and continued. “If you’re going to take that, I’ll come with you and watch your wings.”
“What-”
“Well, you’re certainly not going to go to the fair with your wings, are you? He didn’t say he was saved by angels! And because I have implants, it’s impossible for me to take the role.” Her voice became a little tired at this point, as if she’d explained it a million times-which perhaps Avalon had, just for different missions! “You’ll fly there, and once I catch up, you will remove your wings and give them to me before you enter the fair.”
MIRA
The crazed girl grinned as she was transported through time. As they appeared on the coast, Mira grabbed Brenna’s shoulder and began to talk in an excited whisper, floating off the ground as her wings beat extremely fast. “LikeohmygoshBrennawhatarewe-” she took a breath, continuing the next phrase, “doingcanyoumaketheplansIdon’t-” another breath- “dogoodwithplans!”
And with that, the coffee-colored wings let their owner float gracefully back down to the ground.
((Whoops, didn’t see you’d followed up. I’ll write something soon.))
(((Please do?))
((UGH! Summer classes are not conductive to online role-playing!))
((How about we have him being rescued at age 10, rather than 3, OK?))
BIZET:
I was lost in the streets of Paris for the second time. I was only ten, but my parents let me out of the house lots. I knew I lived sort of near the Seine, only two arrondissements away. I ran toward the sound of flowing water. I got to the edge, but I couldn’t see my house or anywhere familiar. It was nighttime, so there wasn’t anybody about to help me find my way home.
I walked over to the Seine, carefully. I was on one of it’s grassy banks. I bent over, looking into it’s murky depths. Songs started flowing through my head, about reflections in a lake. I thought I saw a glow in the reflection. I turned around sharply. I’m still not sure what I saw, but the wet ground below me crumbled a bit, and I fell in. Swept away by the murky, dark waters, I couldn’t get a grip on a river bank.
((Sounds like a plan!))
Avery set her wing device to 1848, the time in Georges’ childhood when he would have been ten years of age. Caelum had said that he would be lost among the streets of Paris, and to search for him among the banks of the Seine river.
“It is imperative that you deliver that parchment to him,” the director had added in a hushed whisper. “Good luck to you.”
The device on Avery’s wings whirred loudly, and suddenly she popped from sight with a small gasp. Whirling through time and space, she held her breath as a familiar squeezing sensation surrounded her.
Almost as soon as it had begun it ended. Avery was flying noiselessly through the black shroud of the night air in Paris. A familiar scent of dusk and red wine surrounded her. The night was pitch-black. She flicked on her halo, which illuminated the area around her with a bright white light. Slowly, through the mist and clouds, the flowing waters of the Seine river became visible.
She skimmed the surface of the water, trying to make anything out among the depths. A hand perhaps, or a limb? And as she searched, something appeared on the face of the water, something struggling and small. A little boy, drenched clothing and soaked to the bone, flailing about and clutching to the grasses among the riverbanks, trying to get to shore as the waters buoyed him about like a lost leaf.
Immediately, Avery dived. Her wings caught her as she reached into the water, up to her sleeves in murky liquid. She caught the boy’s arm and, slowly but surely, her fluttering wings lifted both her and the child out of the rushing flow.
She flew quickly to the shore, and set the boy down. He spluttered, then coughed, and slowly he opened his eyes. The child stared in awe at the glowing, beautiful woman before him.
“Hello,” she said kindly. “Are you feeling all right?”
BIZET:
As I was swept towards the center of the river, I saw a beautiful woman in a bright white dress with bright white angel wings appear through… I guess you could call it a break in the darkness of night. She pulled me up out of the Seine, and put me on the bank. I spluttered and coughed. She asked me if I was feeling all right.
“Now I am. Who are you?” I asked.
“You don’t need to know that.” She said “But you do need to keep this piece of parchment. The message that’s written on it, you should put it somewhere. Hidden.” She handed me a piece of parchment, with a long string of numbers on it.
“What do you mean, hidden?” I asked
“Just hide it somewhere. I don’t know how. It could be in a picture, or a piece of music. You only need to have it somewhere. Safe, unchangable.” She said. “Got that?”
“Yes…” I said. With a flash, she vanished. I found my way home after that.
((Sylvia’s a Junior, not a Senior. Just letting you know.))
The rest of the team, hovering high in the sky, used their goggles to zoom in on the garden. Meg was talking to the young Galileo, and there were a lot of plants. She saw a plant with the right shape leaves, but another one with similar berries. In the mission briefing, she’d been told there was only one nightshade plant to remove. But which one? Desperately, she tried to recall the required Botany classes she’d taken as an Angel-in-training. Like most of the students, she’d spent the boring lectures drawing in her notebook and daydreaming about flying.
She turned back to the higher-ranking Angels. “Um, maybe one of you should go,” she mumbled. “Since you have the camouflage suits …I think the nightshade is one of those two.”
The higher-ranking Angel suits had a setting that allowed them to blend into the background, making them less likely to be seen on stealth missions.
” And I normally try the berries before i pick them so that they taste ripe.” He was saying. I nodded. The team was lingering near the bush… The leaves made a noise and the bush was lifted.
“What was that? ” He asked. I moved my head towards my backpack. There was a blueberry bush inside.
” Oh, Probably the wind. ” I said.
” You’ll be needing this.” I said in an undertone, handing him a paper with Dec. and Rad. cordinates to the angels base.
He stored it in his pocket. ” Don’t ever show anyone. ”
” I will not show it.” He said. ( Should he become an angel?))
(( POKE PROD POKE PROD! Don’t DIE!!! Once this is up and running agian, we need a new thread. ))

Goody! We need a revive!
((Anyone? We need people back!))

((I would certainly return if this thread was revived. Sorry for the above, that’s trying to get people here *pays PoPo fine in advance*))
Could I join?
(( Sure. Are you a famous person to get rescued, or an Angel?))
Angel, I think. Are there any rules with creating a character?
((No, but I wouldn’t make a Mary Sue if I were you. They’re generally frowned upon in Museblog RPG’s.))
((Sorry for the double post.I just read this thread twice, and it now makes sense. Here is my character:
Name: Amara Vanersun
Type: Junior(Small glittering wings)
Age: She doesn’t know, but somewhere from age 13-17.
Time: 19th century London
Home: London slums
Personality: She’s a bit shy, very cautious. She can’t remember her family at all, or if she’s ever had a life outside of the slums. She lived by begging, stealing, etc. although she regrets it. She’s very compationate and was chosen by the angels after an angel noticed her caring for a pair of abandoned puppys, even though she hardly had enough food to feed herself.
Physical appearence: Amara is very thin, a result of never having enough to eat. She has chin length auburn hair that she had to shave off once in order to look like a boy, so that she could get a job. Her hair is growing back now, though. She has a pale, translucent face with freckles and brown eyes. She looks small for her age, and is only about 5′ 1″ .She has been with the angels for 2 years and soaked up all the angel in training knowledge like a sponge. It took her quite a while though, because she had to learn to read and write first. She just became a junior.
What do you think?
What team should she join???))

2) That is a PoPo. Please refrain from doing that. ( hands ticket.) That’ll be 10 chocolate.))
So, Who do we Rescue Next? Maybe Shakespeare? Or Someone could PP a future Famous person like, In 2020?
((Shakespeare sounds good. Can I join your team? I don’t know who else is actively posting.Hear that people?! Come baaaack!
…
Yeah.Yup. Uh-huh. ))
((SFTDP. I don’t know if you had a mission worked out for Shakespeare, but here is an interesting thing I found: Shakespeare’s son Hamnet died at age twelve from unknown causes. He had a twin sister, Judith. What if we went back, and they were both doing something dangerous, or something, and we saved Judith, but for unknown reasons we couldn’t save Hamnet? Anyway, we don’t have to do it or anything. Just an idea.))
((Did he really have a sister? I thought that was something Virginia Woolf made up.))
((On Wikipedia, it says that Shakespeare and his wife had 2 daughters and one son. One son and one daughter where twins.))
((Oh, his DAUGHTER was Judith, I knew that. Woolf wrote a story where Shakespeare HIMSELF had a twin sister named Judith, and I misunderstood.
I feel so stupid now.))
((That’d be cool if Shakespeare had a twin.
Why on earth(or elsewhere) would you feel stupid? It’s an easy mistake to make!))
(( Okay.))
Meg
” Kay, We need to save the Shakspeare twins, Hamnet and Judith. ” Lydia said, looking up from her watch. I started to daydream about getting wing implants, and then Maximum ride, and.. Woah. Save the twins. “They have swine flu. That wasn’t from back then, sombody meddled.” Lydia said, reading her watch. The group set their devices to * insert year Judith and Hamnet died*(( they both died, but we try to save them both and Hamnet lives a day longer than before. He got a cold that last day though.))
” Do we have Swine Flu vaccines? ” Amara asked. Her wings and freckles made me think of a Fariy.
” Nope.” Serenity said. I moaned.
” Gonna be here a while. We can give some pills and do stuff like that. The vaccine won’t work anyway.” Lydia said. ” We should go undercover. Sylvia, Meg, Amara, You stay with and befriend Judith. Trinity,Serenity, and I will befriend Hamnet.”
((1596))
“Kay. Let’s go.” I said. “Wait, do we have the code? Are we going to put it in Shakespeare’s work by proxy?”
“Yup.” said Serenity. “I’ve got it.”
We teleported to 1596.
Soon, we were flying towards Stratford-Upon-Avon. ((I’m sorry, I have no idea where Shakespeare was living in this time period.))
“There it is.” Lydia said. “Shakespeare’s house.”
We landed softly in the backyard.
“So, how do we find Judith and Hamnet?” Sylvia asked.
“Well, we will have to fly into the house and explore a bit to find them. I think we should only visit at night, so that Shakespeare and Anne, his wife, don’t notice us. So, let’s split up. Meg, you take Amara and search the first floor. Trinity, Lydia, and Sylvia, you take the second floor. I’ll search the attic. Now, they’ll most likely be on the second floor, so once your done with the first floor join Trinity, Lydia, and Sylvia and start to take care of the twins. On the first floor, your going to be looking for traces of the meddler.” Serenity looked around, nodded, then flew in the attic window. ((Sorry, Witchneko, I didn’t know how to say that without a senior instructing. I hope I didn’t mess that up.))

Amara and I jogged down the stairs, checking for handprints and footprints.
” Why don’t we check the desk first?” I suggested. She nodded and we lifted papers, pens, pulled out desks.

I lifted out a metal lockbox, about 1 foot wide and 1 1/2 feet long, onto the floor to get a better look.
“Whoa” I breathed. “This doesn’t look like it’s from this time period.” Meg joined me on the floor to look at it.
“Can you open it?” She asked. We tried and tried, but eventually gave up. It was unopenable without a key.
“We better show this to Serenity.” Meg nodded, and we climbed up to the attic.

Sylvia made her way down the hall behind Trinity and Lydia. The three Angels hovered an inch or so above the ground, so as not to make noise. Their goggles were set to heat-sensing, so the old house appeared in odd shades of blue and green.
A bright figure appeared in a bedroom at the end of the hall. It looked like a small person, lying on a bed, barely moving. It was bright yellow – much hotter than it should have been.
“There,” whispered Lydia. Sylva flinched. Time for the medical stuff.
Time Travel RPG! It’s a wonderful thread!
Very entertaining to be read!
Significantly preferable to being dead!
Time Travel RPG! It’s a wonderfulllll threeeaad!!!!!
Any Muser in the know
Could see the thread traffic starting to slow
To the point where I don’t see if I could save this RPG
If I offered everyone free cookie dough
Listen close to the empty thread
And hear that echoing sound
If you don’t post here, it will soon be dead
With no new posts to be found
I cannot believe my eyes
How quickly an awesome thread dies
But it’s plain to see
The posts on this RPG
Are not on the rise

“It’s unopenable,” I tell my students. “I’ve seen that type of box and lock before, and unless you use extreme force – which could damage whatever’s inside – we’ll need to go back to HQ for that~”
((It would be fun to bring this back…))
Back from where it is now, or starting from scratch?
Probably starting from the beginning so that people could create new missions and angel characters if they wanted to, but keeping the Angel plot and not any of the other proposals.
((I’m down! I miss RPing on here.))
((Can we be androids? Because I just happen to have a little android persona that might be just the right thing for this))
((I guess there could be an android Angel. They do recruit from all times and places.))
((Fortunately, his character design does include wings))
