Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything
OMG TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF AUGUST SERIOUSLY
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SUMMER WHEREFORE HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME
1- yes, yes. AAAAHHHH!!!
I’m back for a day and leaving again on thursday…
It’s winter here
Hahah! I like the name!
1-Same.
3-Where do you live? Are you in school?
For some odd reason, my left shoulder is in extreme pain. I am typing with one hand, but will try to correct any spelling errors. I do not remember bumping or straining it, so that is why it is odd…
3) WOW! It’s Winter? That’s so COOL! Do you have snow?
4) Hmmmmmmmmmm. A mysterious sore arm. We shall have to investigate!
Well, I just got from my morning walk. It was different this morning because instead of taking our straight path, my sister and I walked randomly around our town. It was SO FUN!
I like the title, it’s awesome! Aug-xhaustion. Very good
Happy August!!
this summer for me has been augxhauting
HA! You guys have no idea what heat even is! It’s supposed to be around 95 degrees and humid today, and I have a 2-hour-long soccer training session with my new team. We had one Monday, too, and our coach told us that for the entire week, “Bring running shoes and water. That’s all you’ll need.” Yeah…death appears to be something we’ll all end up needing…Aug-xhaustion, indeed…
Sorry, had to get that out there.
Yay! August! (oops, almost typed Augwich instead of August. Heh heh…) I’m leaving on vacation to Boulder, Colorado today to visit my grandparents! SO much fun!! Although, because our flight is so late, I’ll be getting there at 2:00am my (Massachusetts) time. Uggg.
Time to change the calendar page! That’s what I look forward to on the last day of any month.
What I like about this month’s random thread title is the fact that it has an “X”. ALL HAIL THE X!!!
YAY! only a little longer until autumn! I like the prettiful leaves.
I’m milking in my uncle’s barn 2 nights a week… you don’t know hot until you’ve done that! The outside temperature is about 90* and a cow produces alot of heat (consider that they can kep themselves warm outside in the middle of winter) So I was inside a poorly ventilated barn surrounded by a bunch of heaters yeah, that is hot
9- I don’t know, but I wish it would come back. School starts on Sept. 5.
I hate summer. Humbug.
This year hasn’t been too bad, actually, although that’s mostly because I refuse to venture out of my house during daylight.
HOLY CRAAAAP I START SCHOOL IN A WEEK where did the time go klsdfjaf DDDDD8
14- ug. in a WEEK!!! i still have until Sep. 4th. i know i’m gonna sound like a goody-two shoes, but i actually enjoy school. akkk!!! (many pies being thrown at me)
12 & 8- double ug. i have a two hour tennis turnament today from one to three and its gonna be a gazillion degrees out (dyng, dying, dead)
love the title
HAWWWWW You guys don’t know hot until you’ve waited THREE HOURS in the merciless California for a concert. dies. dies thinking of it. THIS IS WHAT I DO FOR JROCK.
14) :CCCCCCCC WHYYYYYY omg you start so early
When does everyone start school? I don’t until September 4th or 5th. afdgasfhasj I’m going to die omg how am I a sophomore I was in kindergarten yesterday I swear.
Hello, all! August is here already – I can’t believe it! Less than 2 weeks before the first DC Kokonvention! Flamablamabiguity! Well, I haven’t had a chance to go onto our RRR in a while, I had better do that before PraCan, Julieb, Alice, and those other Etheterrans ban me for inconsistency-or-whatever-the-word-is.
16 – I start about then, I think, but only for 7th grade.
Axa – We spent two weeks in Mexico, and when we weren’t in air conditioning or in the water (which was about half the time) it was about 110 degrees at least and so humid it felt like we were dangling over a pot of boiling water. Does that count?
Oh, and also – It’s fairly humid in Pittsburgh (where we live) in the summertime, and about 95° average. Do you live in California? No, wait, I’ll just check the Profiles thread and finally add my own.
Sorry for the possible triple post, but I just realized how mean that last post sounded. I just meant to say that I did know what real heat was. Sorry, Axa.
I start school August 28.
Work at the ice cream store was interesting yesterday. We were throwing the peach knives at the bulletin board. One kid was really good: he could get them to stick in half an inch from about 6 feet away. Actually it was a little scary because he’s, well, kid-Steve (as opposed to boss-Steve, named such so things don’t get more confusing). Where did he learn to do that? Then this girl who had been working waaay too long and was really wacked out goes, “Let me try!!” And we’re all like, “No. Way. You are not getting a knife.” But she took one anyway and threw it in the exact wrong direction, towards some boxes and the door. We were speculating would it would be like if the boss had walked in then.
16: I start school August 27. Eeek! Noooo!
I think it is 93 degrees here. That is pretty darn hot, but I guess not compared to what some of you poor souls are going through! Ugh. I don’t like August.
no hot sports for me, soccer at school doesn’t start till the spring. i start at the end of august. no idea what day though.
i have been hot places but not in a while. tis not that hot where i live.
arrgh my computer isn’t working so well. i keep posting on like 4 threads one day and then leave for a week because the computer shuts down the internet. *need new comp*
18) OMG THAT’S REALLY BAD TOO DDDDDDDD: WHY IS IT HOT EVERYWHERE kjdndksv and no lawl it didn’t sound mean XD
urrrgh yes I live in California it’s nice most of the time but we’re all wimps weather wise and complain if it’s too hot or too cold. Or too anything. A girl at school moved here from Chicago and she was like “…..guys you know this isn’t cold right” but afjknda I don’t go outside during the summer for fear of melting.
16- Lucky you. It starts on the 29th of this month for me. Which, coincidentally, is the day I scheduled my driving test. Looks as if I’ll be missing last period. Gar.
Meh, ah well. I still have to do my AP English stuff…
SUMMER! Thou hase forsaken me!
Me wan summer back.
hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I start on August 23rd. I’m glad…. my brother has been getting on my nerves.
Mainly all the teachers this year are new. *frowns *
Wow, today’s the first day of August? I’m losing track.
I don’t start school until sometime in early September.
I start school on September 5th. I’m doing math review problems now. It’s 88 degrees and 43% humidity according to Yahoo! weather, but my thermometer says 100 degrees and 80% humidity. I don’t trust my thermometer.
I start on the 29th. Coincidentally, the day I scheduled my driver’s license exam. Whoops.
Ugh. The problem with Chicago weather is that it’s so awfully inconsistent. We have the 100-degree August days, and then once it gets to be winter we go down to -20 and it is PAIIIN. D8
I start school far too early.
I haven’t read any of the previous posts, sorry, but I don’t have much time, and I’ve got BIG NEWS!!!!!!! Here goes:
Last weekend I was at Jamestown Settlement in VA to take sail training there [I volunteer there] and one of my dreams from the last 5 years came true: I WENT ALOFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (climbed the rigging, incase you’re not familiar with the term) SO scary!!
The hardest part was going on the futtock shrouds- lines that that lead from the edge of the roundtop [similar to the crow’s nest on later vessels], you’re hanging about 80 feet over the water, unable to see your feet and needing to find something to hang step onto……. AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was terrified! So exciting, though.
Sorry if I was totally random, Ididn’t have time to read ad HAD to brag………
I went tubing yesterday with our boat… the tube isn’t really a tube, it has a better, more comfortable design. I still have pain though.
anyways, I took the ferry over to the mainland today with my mother’s boyfriend, Tony the rocket scientist, and we went to the Marine Biology Lab and went into labs and stuff that the general public can’t, cus Tony has friends there.
I started school on Monday, July 30th. Phoo.
I’m not used to it yet. *sigh* It is only day 3, I suppose.
8 – Ugh, same weather here. I can stand heat; it’s the humidity that gets to me. Kentucky doesn’t get very hot compared to other places (it’s going to be about 90 degrees every day this week), but it sure gets humid right about now!
I have to go back to school on the 14th! Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with the blog this year since I’m going to a “cottage school” again, which only meets three days a week. That means more homework, though.
8-Ha! Two hours? i’m in band camp every day for the week, and we’re outside from 8:30-12 and again at random points between 1 and 4! And then we go outside in the afternoons to play paintball and watch the OSU marching band and other fun bonding stuff like that.
I only got two bruises, and no welts! I’m happy about that. One in the side, that broke, and one right below the knee that didn’t. And i got out once when somebody hit the hopper of my gun. Never got hit in the mask though. High tower got it right through the slits down by the mouth…and his mouth was open, so he got a mouthful of watery paint (except that it isn’t really paint, but whatever)
I haven’t done summer reading yet. whooooops. i need to go get those books. i’ve got three for summer, and then two more before winter semester.
danny got back from england today (actually yesterday, but at night, so nobody saw him) He got another FCUK shirt, but it just said french connection! there was no united kingdom. so i told him he killed the UK and everybody was like “WHAT?”
He was also wearing long sleeves. We thought he was insane. But then, he’s been in the rain for two weeks.
oh hey, pizza now w00t! i finally put anthony’s on my phone…i now have all the pizza places in snipville (and donato’s which is right outside, but we consider it part of snipville anyway)
32 – Cool!!!!! I’ve also been dreaming about doing that, but admittedly only recently and after seeing Pirates. I don’t know if I could manage the 80 feet, though…I hate heights. :p
I don’t mind the heat too much, but it stinks during soccer tournaments. (Which we have a lot of this summer)
It’s funny, I was complaining because I was the last one out of school and now I’m the last one back in!
33-Yesterday I got to ride in an innertube tied to the back of my the sailboat that my parents were in and ride behind. ^_^
(Really, really sorry for posting 3 times in a row.)
32) That sounds so awesome!
Waaaaooooo you all start school really early. Of course maybe you got out before me? Oh well, more time to label my map of Europe and read 200+ pages of European history…fun. I already did the ridiculous questions akjndkjad
32- That sounds really fun. I’ve only been whale-watching in cape cod and on a boat in Niagara Falls, and those are tourist things.
38- When do you start school?
Well, my thermometer said 100 degrees this afternoon. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Should I trust my thermometer?
We return to school around Aug.27. Wait. Or isw that when the teachers return? I don’t know. Both my parents are teachers.
36-is my comment really still awaiting moderation or did that just randomly show up?
30- Me too!
URGH I DONT WANT TO START IN AUGUST LIKE I’VE BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS
26- ooh shiny newbee! *pies*
32- LUCKY THING YOU!!!!
It’s so hot here. And so boring. I meant to stay off the computer for most of the day but I am bored out of my mind so here I am again.
34-
I spent a good part of the morning learning to diagram sentences. Oh, my cramming skills!
37~ Yeah, that’s an estimation, I don’t know the exact height I was, but it was high. If you pay attention to where you are, and not how high you are it helps.
I’m homeschooled, and was supposed to do school work all summer. I haven’t gotten as much done as I should have, though. Ugh.
46~ I wondered what you’d say! I wasn’t so sure that I was lucky when I was up there, I’m glad it’s over, but I’m glad I did it.
44- When they take a while to moderate something it stays where you posted it. I know, because once I posted saying to Emmatheduck that she could find my screen name . . . somewhere, and it messed up the numbering.
48- I LOVE high places. High places + tallships = adoration.
It was thrilling: a mixture of abject terror and wild, unchecked joy.
51- Awww, I wish I could go aloft someday. I probably will.
Hello musebloggers. I’m back from New Orleans and shall now not leave for any significant amount of time any time in the near future.
29 I start on sepeptember 5 too wich stinks because thats my birthday
ooooooooohhhhhhhhh that’s bad I spelled september incorrectly
(53) Welcome back! What was New Orleans like, and what did you do there?
must not flame people with bad spelling and capitalization… I don’t know why that bothers me more when I follow it less. Perhaps because I realise how easy it is and still manage to not annoy people like me and Glassboro when on MuseBlog. Penty and Axa get a reprieve because they’re oldbies.
Sunburn is not fun. Playing at the lake with a small, mostly deflated beach ball, with a friend, her brother, and whatever random people we know who are counselors at the lake summer camp is fun. Being buried in the sand so no sunscreen sticks to me is also fun. So I guess having my shoulders, face, and part of my scalp red and painful is worthwhile. This was in July, though. All I’ve done today was marching band.
I start school on the 24th, I think.
53- I love New Orleans. I went there once about 4 months before the hurricaines and passed through about a year afterward. It’s a beautiful place.
The best heat-related story I can think of (suffered through) was having to wait outside for six hours at a climbing competition. I was 75th out of 76 people and the gym didn’t have an indoor isolation room. I drank about seven liters of water just waiting. *shudder*
I wish schools had the longest break in winter instead of summer.
55- You spelled “which” wrong too.
Woah. You people start school early! I don’t start until Sept. 4. I have a heat related story but it’s not about me. I was at summer camp a few years ago and we were riding horses. This girl there had a heat stroke, fell off the horse, and got her stomach stepped on by the horse, and she still wanted to get back up, but the horse people wouldn’t let her. Then later that week she got sick and she got the bravery award because she was always trying to go back out and do stuff instead of staying in the nurse’s place.
It’s supposed to be 90º here tomorrow. It doesn’t seem too bad to me now because a few weeks age I was in China and it’s really hot there. We didn’t know how hot, but it was a lot hotter than it is here. The hottest day was when we went to the great wall. The great wall does not have nice small stairs. It has 3 foot high ones that are really hard to climb. I feel bad for all the people who had to run up there in full armor. Ok that was long. Sorry, I just get on something and keep going.
34: That’s insane. Where do you live?
46: Ooh, I ♥ diagramming.
42-I start September 5th. Is that the latest of any MBer?
Heat? Try riding for six hours in 110 degree heat AND doing jumping AND driving this ancient tractor around to pick up hay bales then picking up 50 pound bales and carrying them over to it when it broke down. -cringes-
Ah, the lovely summer memories.
62- That’s when I start.
14- wow really? i have till after labor day.
im starting highschool…..
16- i dont really understand the US highschool year thingys, its freshman and then i dont know.
heat? hmmm…. im in france and its not at all hot. mweh hehehe.
65) Cool! Well, if your experience is anything like mine, when you come back out of the airport in America, you’ll feel like you just stepped into a steam bath.
8- Don’t say that to a southerner.Or south-westerner. Even though this year wasn’t that bad.
65 (kag)- Freshman/sophomore/junior/senior. Or grades 9-12, take your pick. How do they do it in Canada?
41 (Axa)- EUROPEAN HISTORY WINS~ -is the TUBER-NERD, excepting Mr. Potato Head-
Hellew, Mewsblog. I am going to be on vacation from tomorrow night until…until a bit later. I will probably have more chances to get on the computer sometime during that time, but just in case I don’t I want you all to know that I’m not ditching you. Really.
65- Hooray for incoming freshmen! . . .
kt thinks that she is bored. on her game (super princess peach) that is not easy according to her she is stuch by this evill plant thingy and it will not die. she hopes to kill it but is having no luck so far. all she can get it to do is roll around on the floor. kt is also tired she stayed up late and didn’t sleep in late so she is tired. she saw on the news the thing about the bridge falling and she wonders if any mbers live in that area if so she gives them her highest condolonces if any of them have died.
kt wonders if she should change her name. these are her ideas.
dramacow
cowhippie
_____cow(like she would say happy cow or tired cow)
or just cows say moo!
she cannot decide.
oh well she says goodbye and this is also about the longest post she has ever written!!!
69: Hear, hear!
I don’t know how hot it is here, all that matters is that it is so hot that my mom turned on the air conditioning, unbelievable as that sounds. I feel really bad for people without AC.
53- Hullo again!
64-Sweet! ^_^
Cows are cool. But cheese is cooler.
62- I start the same day as you… I don’t know if anyone starts later, though.
75-I haven’t heard of anybody yet.
Some of my friends have been back in school for several weeks already.
61 – NC, but our school is considered a “year-round” school, even though we have summer break, so..
50- ooh, I like high places too! I like catwalks in theatres and rooftops and tree tops…
I start my SENIOR year of high school the day after labor day.
*faints*
It’s about 101º out.
34- My cousin ENDS school on, like, July 16th but starts like right after Labor Day. eeks.
(77) Yay, an NC MBer! I’m in the central part of the state, Triad area.
How many posts do threads usually have before they get a new one?
300 usually but sometimes more or less
40-Sailboat? That’s no fun. You have to be riding in a moterboat to have real fun. *bump bump bump flip wheeeee bump bump oh no the wake crap the wake ack bump bump skiiiiiiiiddddd flip fly bellyflop OW*
I lurvie tubing.
81-300, but the random threads have been limited to three a month, no matter how many posts there are…
78- Senior year! Wow! -is jealous- XD; I am a mere sophomore as of September.
New Orleans is the city of heat-related stories. Here’s mine: We (me and some other people on the trip) spent the last two days gutting a house, and we had to wear these biohazard suits in at least 90 degrees and probably over 80% humidity. Luckily, they were white, but still, i thought i’d die in that thing. So i guess i’ve partly answered the question of what we did, but other than gutting, i painted this lady’s house and some other people in my group put up drywall and plastered the same lady’s ceiling. Other than being hot, the city was kind of mismatched. There’s be a totally rebuilt house with someone living in it, and the house right next to it would be untouched since Katrina. When not working, we’d blast the AC and listen to “When The Levi Breaks” in our vans. Gutting is an experience like no other. You don’t know bad smells until you gut a house that had 5 feet of water in it for days, and then went untouched for 2 years. And even though we never met the owners, we got to know them pretty well from their stuff. Maybe better than we wanted to… we found some marijuana, and piles of porn, and other stuff i won’t mention here. So yeah, it was great.
Oh my feaking god!! I posted last time as #9 yesterday at like 12:00 noon and now it’s almost 7:00 (kinda) and there are almost 90 posts! *gasps in shock* I never would have thought there would be that many posts in such a short space of time. *tries not to fal over onto little bro*.
Anyway, It’s been really hot here in Colorado while I’m visiting my grandparents. Enough where all my energy just about disapeared when I woke up.
Oh I start school on the 4th of September. Hee. Usually school starts at the end of august dunno why its later this year. Yayy! exicted for school to start! Although my whole class (8th) isn’t there any more because I decided to stay back a year to do a post graduate thingy, and everyone else went on to highschool. I know I probably sound kinda silly for making that decision, but I really what to go to a great highschool after (NMH), and I don’t think I’m quite ready for something that big, considering my last school (1st – 6th) had only 32 students in the entire 1st throught 6th grades. Plus I want to refine some of my skills so I’m even better prepared.
Ha! Math is totally awsome! Love Algebra with all the x’s and stuff! pi r squared bugs me though. buahahah my school had to make a whole new curriculem for me and freind for math because we were the highest math students ever in the history of the entire school (1st – 8th) bua!
Oh, just curious: what are peoples oppinion on the word hell. Is or is it not a swear?
Cheers and hedgehogs
Gah…this summer has gone way too fast. A large chunk of it has been eaten by moving (which, incidentally, has sucked).
I might go to Chicago for the weekend. If not, I’ll see Edward this weekend, and Blue Oyster Cult in concert.
I leave Monday morning for D.C. (Woohoo!)
I get back Saturday.
My camp starts Monday, ends Friday.
Leaving me with about two weeks in which to do the following things:
— go climbing
— explore the abandoned mental hospital near my house
— have a Disney movie marathon
— have a regular movie marathon
— go to the aviation museum
— start a band
— go to an underground concert
— read about three books for my English class (WHEE!)
— and several thousand other things
It’s been fairly hot here…and we had a spurt of humidity in the past week, but honestly, it hasn’t rained steadily here since mid-spring. Everything’s dead. It’s just hot. And dry. Our new house has A/C, which is actually nice. I didn’t want it before, cos it seemed too bourgious (sp?).
Google “something french music.” Listen to the demos. They are amazing.
Algebra!!: x+|-9| (2x sqared –20 (4 -x +0 cubed) +4) devided by
43 – 4x +|14 – 2|
First of all, sorry for the triple post
87 – actually, it’s only 5:30. The clock I was looking at is broken
I’m still going to California in a week, so summer has not comeletely gone….
87) For me, that is an EXTREMELY bad cuss word!
88) Wow! That’s a lot to do!
87. Augwich: To me, it’s not a swear. I mean, if it was, i would be offended about a million times a day. But i figure, why offend someone if it’s not necessary? On the other hand, just about anything you could say is probably offensive to someone. Um…just do whatever you want. I won’t care.
88. Lady Visala of Reverie: Man, i read about an abandoned mental hospital near where i live that is supposedly taken over by some Satanic cult. brrr.
Cool algebra thing: e^(i*pi)=-1. Isn’t that weird?
I am quite shocked on the bridge collapse in Minneapolis. I’m sort of surprised that no one has brought it up. Yes, I live in Minnesota, no I do not live in Minneapolis. I live somewhere in Minnesota that is not Minneapolis and it is very, very shocking to see a disaster happen this close to oneself. In one’s state. I am thinking of all the victims and the survivors and heros.
I fell into a very large fountain today. And had to go to my class dripping wet. Fun.
87: Not a cuss word at all.
Is anyone else excited about tax-free weekend? I LOVE tax-free weekend! I like the feeling that I’m saving money on things.
Yesterday a hot-air balloon sailed right over my house…
98- ???
I have $72. A Nintendo DS is $130. I’m splitting the cost with my brother. 130 / 2 = 65. YESS I HAVE FULFILLED MY QUOTA! Now to break open my brother’s piggy bank…
I don’t have a piggy bank. I have a hollowed-out book.
whoa a lot of posts blog on the newbie page
87: I wouldn’t say it. It’s just going a little too far for me.
Btw, I’m leaving for another vacation tomorrow. I won’t be back for a week. See y’all later!
88- Haha, my friends were just talking about haveing a Disney movie marathon. My list is:
– Find time to go to Great America with my friends
– Sleeep
– Reread the Harry Potter series
– Possibly go to Austin City Limits to see my cousin’s friend if she gets in?
– Play with stuff on Photoshop more than I am (which reminds me: I’m out of ideas. Someone say something witty).
87- I don’t care if I hear it, and depending on the context I would say it. But I didn’t even know it was a swear word till I was ten or eleven. I’ve only said it twice in dubious context.
My list:
Think about publishing
Learn to roll a kayak (technically in September, but before school starts, so it’s still summer)
Make some renaissance garb
Learn to spell renaissance without spellcheck
And other things.
100) You don’t know what Tax-Free weekend is?
87-Depends on how you use it. I don’t mind hearing people swear but I try not to.
Hmmm. What will I do for the rest of summer….
Sleep.
Eat cookies.
Write stories
Sleep
Act sneaky around my neighborhood and make people think I’m weird.
Annoy my sister.
Sleep more
Other stuff (like sleeping)
(100, 105) Not every state has them, and the rules and dates vary. Here in NC we have a tax holiday this weekend for school supplies, computers, clothing, and sports equipment. It’s kind of a pain though if you need to do other sorts of shopping as the stores will be crowded.
87-Hell is not a cussword. I’m not an athiest, so I belive that Hell is a place. For me, it’s similar to saying “Heavans”.
95-I just hate the fact that something wasn’t done before it collapsed. It’s now a recovery effort, not rescue. That means they expect to find bodies, not live people.
107-We have Tax holiday for school supplies too. I’m getting everything (including HP7) on Friday,
104- speaking of renaissance, we may be going to a renaissance faire this wkd.
70- i like cowhippie. are you obsessed with cows or is it just a love? one of my friends is obsessed with them and we must go see the cows whenever we pass the zoo.
haha disney movie marathons. my friends and i were going to have one but ended up watching mary kate and ashley movies.
87- ♥ ≠Algebra. NEVER! *screams as she runs soard through textbook* Erm. Aorry ’bout that. *kicks page away and whistles*
Also, anyone have opinions on the .999…=1 debate? I argued with my teacher in 8th grade over that for a while…
96- *applause* I admire your deftness. When I fall it allways seems to be on concrete or tile. With nothing within a 5 foot radius of me…
Also (also also?):
– Make crow girl halloween costume
– Make some renaissance garb(shamelessly stole that from Alice)
– Wait for the scheduleeessssssssssssssssssaaaaaahhhhhhguh.
– Wait for someone to say something witty I can quote
– Hide
– Practice music for band camp so I can laugh at everyone who doesn’t know their music
– Aparently I need to help dad with something *right now*
OH man. Summer was SO short!!!! I start 8th grade on August 21st, and if its anything like 7th grade I would LOVE to crawl in a whole until its all over with. I know alot of people who will be on my team, thats good, and bad. There are alot of “popular” people who think they are so cool and make the school year so not fun for everyone else that are in honors, so that means that I will HAVE to deal with them, becuase there is only one team with all the honors classes. UG!!!! P.E. is my worst nightmare, I am such a klutz outside of dance class, I dont even want to think about it. Hopefully there wont be any ‘popular’ kids in my p.e. class becuase that just makes it worse. AND I got the teacher who is like the dodgeball king, and I HATE dodgeball, unless I am playing with friends. I will just go to the front and get out before someone gives me a concussion. I also got the creepy health teacher who is creepy and gruff. But at least I dont have the evil spanish teacher who lowers youre grade if you dont raise your hand (which actually means if she doesnt call on you, which she doesnt unless you are a ‘popular’ person). I dont want to go back to school. Sorry for all that negativity.
We still havnt gotten new neighbors yet. They are keeping me in suspence.
Last night we went to see Joseph and the Amazing Techinicolor Dreamcoat at the Muny, and I saw my arch enemies best friend. It took all my patience and restraint not to run over to him and stomp on his feet or something. But, I didnt want to start an episode and get in trouble. Gotta go!!
Here is what I want to do this summer:
Read (summer reading book for school and other books)
Practice violin (recover from the week without practice while violin was being fixed and prepare for orchestra seating audition)
And I don’t know what else.
I’d planned to hold off on a “Back to School” thread for another week to avoid upsetting people. But I’ll start it sooner if there’s a demand for it.
Oh No! We can’t start it yet! I still have 3 weeks!
107) oooooooooooooo! Sorry to double post, but you said that you’re from NC! Are you a UNC fan, a Duke fan, or a State fan?
110- I know what you mean about Algebra. But Jade, one thing. Do you spell sword “soard” on purpose?
As for quotes, read Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations. That’s what I’m doing.
Re: .999…=1. Rounding up is a wonderful thing.
113- That sounds like a useful sort of thread.
hi!
113- oh, sorry. I will stop talking about school.
Sorry about the second post. I was just wondering if the song lyrics thread was gone, or if I am just losing my mind. That happens sometimes before school starts. Anyway, if it has disappeared, can we have another one? My mom just bought me a new CD, and I feel like posting them.
(115) kiwimuncher, I can’t help being a UNC fan since I have generations of ancestors and relatives who’ve been involved with the school since its founding. I didn’t go to Chapel Hill, but I went to graduate school at UNCG, which is how I ended up living here.
I’m also the proud owner of my brother’s UNC-CH letter jacket — he was on the fencing team.
Was that the right answer? *hopes*
(119) Dancergirl13, the Song Lyrics thread is here:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=904
111- Don’t worry, 8th grade was a really good year for mee and my friends. 7th not so much, but I liked 8th grade. And remember this- soon, those ‘popular’ people will be loundering in high school, where the old status que crashes down and they’re left scrambling for the first few weeks as everyone suddenly stops worshiping them and finds their own place. Very amusing.
School starts a month from tomarrow… wow…
87, 108-i love the phrase “holy hell” Mostly because it’s alliterative and fun to say, but also just because it’s so ridiculousat first, but if you think about it for two seconds you realize that hell actually is a religious idea, and a lot of people consider their religion (or religions in general) as holy.
that was only vaguely connected, but whatever.
So wow! band’s over! Our junior year band camp! god, i’m old. i still don’t really believe it. We’re doing a beatles show, but we don’t actually know the whole show yet, because we spent a LOT of time with the new director teaching us how to march right. So for the parent concert we just did pregame and a hard day’s night. The entire trumpet section missed a cue where we’re supposed to go forward diagonally sixteen counts and then diagonally backwards thirty-two counts. So we just kind of stood in straight lines. (just the trumpets are supposed to do this. We’re half of the front line of a box) Yeah, it was bad. but the best part is, since we ALL messed it up, nobody realized we messed up at all.
Johnson (our new director) has a house in snipville, and it’s behind andy’s, near bill’s grandpa’s. So andy has this big light-up palm tree in his backyard, and johnson was talking about it one day in band, saying how much he liked it. So for the prank on his house, they stole the palm tree to give to him. The next day, he was like “I appreciate you trying to steal andy’s palm tree and give it to me…but you got the wrong house” and everybody cracked up. Then the next day, he was like “Ok, that time you got the right house. If anybody’s missing a sign, it’s in my front yard” which was even funnier. I think that might be the best band prank ever. We have blue music notes that look somewhat like swans or flamingos that say our name and graduating year, and they’re stolen pretty regularly, but they’re usually just returned after a while. This was much better. his yard was entirely blue. They even used signs of people who just graduated, like billy and prater.
There was a good amount of TP and suchlike this year. harry got done twice-the seniors did it and then as soon as he cleaned it up the juniors hit. the latest plans i heard were saran-wrapping johnson’s car (he has a freaking sweet car. it’s a convertable of some type, i’m not sure what kind) and something to do with harry and cheese (not the person, the food)
why do so many freshman nicknames have to do with food? is that just a snipville band thing, or is that the same for other people? we had salty last year, LSD (which isn’t really a food…but it’s consumable (not legally, but still)), cheese, saltine, snap (intending that the next two would be crackle and pop). it’s pretty crazy.
so today being the last day, we had a pizza party before the concert and then we taught the freshmen cadences and dances, which was basically like an insane band dance party. But johnson said the tear it up dance was iffy…that’s our cleanest dance. the only bad thing is the ride it, ride it. But there’s no way we’ll be able to do jerk, jock, peacock or pretty fly or even let’s get it started. :'(
so i left the house today at 8, had penn station for lunch (which is freaking amazing, btw. we just got one here, next to chipotle which is a down the street and a couple blocks over. right on the same street as the school. then i had more band camp, pizza party, fall asleep to the orchestra (and watch hewitt make a sweet paper airplane, and marvel at the fact that the orchestra director even manages to have fat bits on her feet) and then concerty thing, where the trumpets screwed up so horribly but nobody noticed, then i went to danny’s, him being newly returned from england and having amazing european crack-candy (seriously, it’s sooo good) and watched an absolutely horrible zombie movie involving a lot of people throwing up congealed blood (not my favorite type of horror movie, i think. i still managed to eat crack-candy, popcorn, and a load of oreos though ) and played PD, which i suck at (i suck at most videogames) and poker (i came in second to hunter. hunter’s a hardcore poker player, he used to be in tournaments and stuff. So we were playing a game, and i was bluffing, and i figured hunter was bluffing, and i also knew he would never fold and admit to bluffing (he’s REALLY good at bluffing. putting in half your chips is quite convincing) and we were planning on watching the movie. So everybody else had folded, and we were going slowly up, and i was just like “screw it, if i lose, i lose” and shoved everything in. Well, hunter WAS bluffing, fortunately, and i won on a high ace. a HUGE pile. still smaller than hunter’s though. anyway, at that point we were just like “k screw it, movie time”) (it was texas hold ’em btw, which is less fun, but whatevs)
so anyway. i got home at around 10ish.
so now to stop rambling and actually join the conversation, 121 is absolutely true, and i only wish i had stayed in middle school to watch the popular kids from our grade get shoved down (bwahaha)
120-Thanks!
121-Sounds fun!!! I cant wait…
Algebra. Oh joy. Not. I sort of understand some things, but I’m for the most part really confused.
JS- Whee!!!!! Crow girl costume! I must see it when it is complete, no?
Robert-GAPA, I’ve been in DC since yesterday….!
You’re in D.C., but you’re not coming to the Kokonvention? So near, and yet so far. Any plans to visit the Science magazine building or points nearby?
I really need to read Someplace to be Flying, don’t I? I suddenly had this feeling that I had to know exactly what a “crow girl” is.
126- er… I don’t know… where is it? Sorry, I’m leaving monday! But I like it here! I’m here visiting my grandparents. We’ve been to Politics and Prose, the Mustard Seed, a show at the Kennedy Center and tomorrow we’re going to the building museum.
127- they are amazing people characters^_^. you can get a taste of them here: (it’s a de Lint short story (in it’s entirety!); the spaced link is mostly harmless) http :// subterraneanpress. com/index.php/magazine/ summer-2007/ fiction-make-a-joyful-noise-by-charles-de-lint/
128: The link is OK. And now I know where you got your nom de blog. At least I think I do. From the Charles de Lint novel called Widdershins?
Hmmm. This is starting to seem familiar. Did you already tell us this at some point?
I’m back.
Yay!
It is August.
And the sky is overcast and raining, we have no need of our non-exsistant air conditioning, and I am wearing a sweatshirt, as I have for most of last week.
100-You are spending your owN MONEY on an electronics thing?!?!?!? *Heads to video games thread to discuss*
62- I start September 7th.
Uh oh. No one’s said that they’re going to be on the MB for the rest of the summer, and that’s my only source of entertainment.
39- The latest? When did you finish?
132- I am on for the rest of the summer.
132- Ha. That sounds kind of familiar. When all there is to do is read and clean house and you’ve already cleaned house and you don’t have any books and it’s too hot outside to even move then MB does become my main source of entertainment. But I’m trying to spend less time on the computer and i think that today I will only come on once or twice.
I don’t actually think I’m going to be here for the rest of the summer. I’m going fishing with my dad and my uncle later this month, and I’m going to a kayaking party for two days before Labor Day, and then I start school on the 5th and probably won’t find a whole lot of time to get on that first week and the weekend after that I’m going to a Ren Faire. But I will, of course, try to get on some in that time.
122- Band camp is over for you? We don’t start ours for another week, and we have a football game before school even stats. They keep moving them earler and earlier… we’re doing beatles too, ha.
We don’t play tricks on our band director. That I know of. It would be fun, though…
125- Yes! I just need to go to Michael’s and find black feathers (goose wing feathers, not the little fluffy kind) and tear up a pair of black capres and a t-shrt I have. I’m being Zia, my friend’s Madia.
129- Haha, reading that book right now
132- Likely I am too, though in september I will be cut down to _no_ free time. And I don’t mean like last year where free time was minimal, because apparently I am joining a second hockey team along with the other one, and hopefully will make the tennis team. When I will find timee to do my reasearch paper is yt to be solved.
128- Wow, it’s really good. But now I have to go watch the sheep before I can finish it. Bother.
135- You won’t have to -gasp- leave, will you?
134- I still have to do cleaning, though, to get money for an iPod nano.
131- Your parents will buy you a $130 video game system for sometime other than your birthday/christmas? Lucky person…
owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! i was just at the beach, and i got really really bad sunburn on my back, and i can barely move my shoulders cuz i was sitting isn a weird position in the car this morning, and i have 2 go 2 my riding lesson now.
my dad just bought me the wii cuz i was really jealouse that my friend had gotten 1 and i didnt have 1 yet! im so spioled!
for christmas and suchlike, i’m usually just like “i want money, so i can get something big and expensive (or these days, small and expensive), yay” and then i get money, but not quite enough for small expensive things so i get to try to save money, which is an interesting and quite difficult task in snipville, especially when you have to pay for your own food when you go out. and i go out to eat all the time, since everything’s right down the street, and all our food’s from kroger since it’s closest. (i’m not a big fan of kroger. i am, however, a big fan of chipotle and penn station. )
actually, it’s quite sad how often i eat out. a burrito and a small drink is $7.31, and a sub and a reg lemonade (they don’t have smalls) is $6.49 i think. or 94. whatever. And i now get a $10 allowance since i pay for my own stuff all the time. i also go see movies fairly often, but usally at the cheap places far away that are between $2 and $4. easton’s like $7-something in the evening, and that’s with the student discount!
So i’m not very good at saving moneys. but i’ve still managed to hold on to around $100, with the pool job and transcripts. hopefully i can make up the other $100 for an ipod in october for my b-day (i always ask for money then too )
i’ve forgotten how i got into this. oh wells.
so now that band camp’s over, i’ve actually had time to listen to musics! i’m still only on the B’s (bon jovi) but moving through them fast (yesterday alone i was on the comp for ages and went through billy idol, billy joel, bob marley, and half of bon jovi. i only have about a cd’s worth of each, but still)
my mind just went blank. i was about to say something else, but now i guess i’m not. ha, what a great memory i’ve got, huh? yeah, you wish your memory was as cool as me. *cough*
137-No, I was trying to say that I wouldn’t spend my own money on it or get my parents to get it, because I do not play video games. But if you do, why would you spend your own money?
103– Yeah, my friend kinda started a Disney heroine club when she fell in love with Phoebus from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Each one of us is a heroine (I’m Belle, she’s Esmeralda), so we need to get together to watch all of our movies.
Okay. I’m using the URL loophole: www. something french music .com. LISTEN! NOW! I’ll post the lyrics to the first song (“Grand Manan”) sometime soon, now that I’ve mostly figured them out.
A large portion of my friends are being eaten by band camp and drills and rehearsals and stuff, so, of course, I have limited time with them. It sucks. Those not being eaten by band stuff are either A) grounded B) being eaten by something else or C) just kind of gone…It’s been a tad frustrating. I’ve had a week or two when EVERYONE but ONE person was gone. I was moving that week, I guess. But still. It went very slowly.
aggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh.
And life goes even slower when you’re listening to the same music over and over again, and trying to find interesting things to say while waiting for a phone call.
(138) So at the moment you’re actually a bright-red stalking penguin of Penzance.
(Sorry for the double post) 93: Well…we’re not Satanic. We just need someplace interesting to see that is hard to get kicked out of.
Oh. And I need to somehow pay homage to the Summer of Love with me and my hippie buddies. Preferably legally. Forty years of love, you know
Gosh…it’s been forty years of a lot of things:
— Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
— Magical Mystery Tour
— The Summer of Love
— Woodstock
— Blue Oyster Cult (and they were awesome last night)
— The Rolling Stone magazine
And probably a bunch of other amazingly revolutionary things I’m forgetting.
131- I’m paying HALF. And it turns out me and my brother each get our OWN, and Dad will play the other half.
139-
Oh man on the subject of saving money, I really need to save just in case Jrock Revolution is on the east coast this year, or even if it’s over here again but in Seattle or something. I refuse to miss it.
141) lul when you get older you have to start paying for things yourself it’s awesome. :C
On the eleventh I am leaving… For Helsinki!! Yeeeaaaaahhhh!!
146- I have to pay for all my own clothes out of my allowance… I get money from my parents on my birthday and christmas.
147- Sibelius lived in Helsinki
My allowance is payed in rabbit food. I don’t buy a lot of stuff, and when I do it’s from money I earned by working.
that would suck. my parents pay for my clothes and i dont get allowence. btw who is sibelius?
138- Hey, havnt seen you here for a while. *pies with aloe pie* (might not want to eat that one…)
I am thinking about getting a nano… just because it has more space. I really prefer the shuffle because I’m odd and like to be able to go to any song I like without having to look at it. Very good because I can just keep it in my pocket and press buttons through the material.
I’d use my own money to get it, but I’d probably pull it out of the account I started when I was… 7 and wanted a laptop. Badly. I have enough for one now, but by the time I get to college and actually need one it’d be obsolete. Plus I’m going to see if I can make parentals get me one when I graduate.
I dont get an allowance, but I dont really have chores either, I mean I feed the pets and put dishes away etc, but it isnt constant, its new stuff every time really. My parents just kinda ask me to help out with random stuff. They buy me clothes, although not many at one time since they get so expensive, but when I get money and they know I have it and I want something, I have to use my own.
re: algebra- I love algebra, and hate any other math. I only got through math 7, and my friend got to Pre-Al, so I did his homework and he did mine.
re: BtS thread- NOOOO!!! I HAVE ANOTHER MONTH!
Grr. I just got back from DemoTeam/Gymnastics. Ow. *hurts in many places*
OH man, when I go back to dance on Tuesday I will be in much pain, becuase I havnt since WEDNESDAY!!!! And with my flexibility I will probably be able to touch my knees on Tuesday, why dont we just have dance every day? *daydreams*
I just had a yummy parfait…..*licks lips*
120) Awesome! I am a UNC fan too!
Man. I am mad. I came home from shopping on tax-free weekend to find caterpillars eating my Hostas in my garden. Half the leaves on one of my Hostas was eaten away! That’s especially annoying because I worked EXTREMELY hard to keep them alive during the hot weather!
135- ooh, cool!
have you guys read the de lint story? what do you think?
155: Tax-free weekend would be awesome. Ohio should have that. But I’ve never heard of it till you mentioned it.
At our school, marching band has camp the whole month of August. I think the first week it’s like 8 to noon or 1 maybe, then every other week 4:30 to 9:30. I’m not in band but a lot of my friends are. Then they have parades every weekend… it’s insane.
156- I think it is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. And now I have to go find more.
156- Yes, I liked it.
157- Parades every weekend? Man… what do you people find o celebrate every week…
I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Anything important happen on the blog while I was gone?
157-We have tax-free week for school supplies.
I just came back from shopping for binders and pencils and a backpack and such and then we had to rush off to PetCo to get an E-Coller and in all that we forgot to go to Cascades library so I could get Harry Potter. But we ate at Boston Market, so it was worth it!
160- Welcome back! Did you have a nice time?
150- it doesn’t really, because my allowance has been adjusted accordingly. It always seems like have a lot of money saved during the summer, and then I have to go back to school shopping.
Jean Sibelius was a composer. The reason I know he lived in Helsinki is because there was an article in the New Yorker about him. Some of his best known works are the seven symphonies and his violin concerto.
All this tax-free stuff… I don’t think I’ve ever had that. Or I don’t remember, or I’m so out of it that it comes and goes without me realizing.
Oh my gosh. I am watching this Shark week thing on discovery channel, which I find immensly interesting, but it is so hard to watch becuase you never know when they are suddenly going to show sharks ripping into an animal or human or something. Sorry about that, just had to get it out. *shiver* It is so creepy. A girl just got attacked by a tiger shark. She has a 12 inch bite, she is losing blood, and they are really far from a city. Their life boat drifted off and someone has to go in the water to get it when there is still a vicious shark in the water. *shiver* OMG here he goes, he is on a surfboard, very carefully, ug. OMG, OMG, OMG, this is freaky…..HE MADE IT!!!! *sigh of relief* This is a true story, they are recreating it, you know how they do it on discovery channel. I feel really bad for that girl…..wow. Oh man, now she might get an infection becuase the nearest hospital isnt very big. Few, she is alright!!! She is just scarred for life forever, ooh. Ug. 6 hour operation? *shivers constantly*
Sorry about the second post but some guy just got his arm bit off!!! I will stop with the disturbing stories now.
On a happier note, I am thinking about trying out for the next local show thing, its hard to describe, but anyone can try out, and you dont have to be extrodinary. Its fun, and the shows are really good. Plus, there is a cute guy who auditions alot who is very close to my age. I am excited!!!!
66- air port in CANADA, me is CANADIAN!!!!!!!! sorry….
68-(penty) Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 no special names there was gr 13 for a really long time, all my cousins did it but they got rid of it years ago…. not sure how many
111- in eighth grade everyone got so much closer….. that may just be my school because we only have 60 kids per grade and 30 kids per class…. i think there will always be moments youll want to forget but its never all bad.
165) This question may be slow, but what are you auditioning for?
Man, red pandas are cute. Does anyone else think that redpandas are cute?
on the subject of saving money…… i have an allowance that i never use… mainly i buy books with the money i get babysitting and next year i want to work at the library
sorry about the double post but note THEY ARE AT DIFFERENT TIMES i had to get off the computer before i could finnish reading
164/165- Ah, Shark week. Love it. ‘M okay with the bloody stuff though.
What kind of auditions?
165- A revue? Is that the word?
I don’t really care for the revues, but mostly because of the very hard bleachers in the basketball court (which doubles as a sort of theatre).
Shark attacks–joy. *cringes*
I really need to start to do something constructive for the rest of the summer. Maybe I’ll ask my parents if I can take a yoga class. But at least I can read. And sleep.
171- Yoga. Yes. I must learn to be flexible!
No. I’m so stiff. How can I ever learn to roll if I’m so stiff I can’t snap my hips? I’ll just stay underwater and someone will have to come rescue me. DARN! I need to be flexible!
Maybe my dad will teach me yoga. What a weird word. Yoga. Yoga.
Here’s a random something I found on the Web: a picture of a somewhat dowdy Urania, with a charming text, from a book called Minerva Britanna published in 1612:
http://f01.middlebury.edu/FS010A/STUDENTS/Minerva/177.JPG
Hay! She has her globe with her!
Wow. That Urania looks a lot older then the Urania in Muse.
I dont know what the show is that I will be auditioning for yet. They havnt announced it becuase they are still working on the current one. I think it might be Oliver! though.
173- Hmm, the s‘s look a bit like f‘s. And she’s much more pretty as one of our Muses.
160-Welcome back! How’d it go?
166-You’re Canadian? I didn’t know that! I just came back from Canada. I must say, gas prices there are at least fifty cents more then here… even if you don’t use cents… I think….
176-Little ball thingy and all, eh?
All replies have six in them….
re: shark attack-I listned to this thing about shark attacks at school and this kid had his leg bitten off by a tiger shark. *shiver*
AGH! Why didn’t anyone correct me?? Woodstock was ‘69! GAH! Sorry about that.
That is a sweet Urania/Minerva thingie.
Does anyone here have StumbleUpon?
179- I wanted StumbleUpon when I was younger, but my parents wouldn’t let me for fear of the sort of pages I might stumble upon.
…As it is, I’m having enough with iChat. I’m not sure it’s even worth it. Bleh. Does anyone here know of alternate AdioChatting services?
Sorry for the double post…
159: The existence of all the towns in the area (aka community days). Must get tedious for them, really.
166: They got rid of grade 13 in Canada?? That was, like, a defining aspect of Canadian schooling. Just kidding, but at least I thought it was notable.
173: Awesome! Okay, I’ve always wondering this: why do really old texts substitute f’s for the s’s? (JS mentioned this.) I know they used v’s instead of u’s because strait lines were easier to carve.
182- They’re not f’s. Way back when, there were two types of s’s. One that looks like “s”, one that looks like a curvy “f”.
181- nooooooooo! Don’t get rid of iChat! In october, the new and improved version is coming out!
183- Unless the new and improved version lets me use it without having a mac.com or an AOL account, it’s not good. But I’m not going to get rid of it, just use Skype instead.
184- You have a Skype? How to find you…
185- Yeah. Just a sec.
185- The only hint I’m going to give is this:
You should find it ridiculously easy.
I think I’m getting paranoid…
Are you on right now? Because I might have found you, based on info from LJ.
Enough! The GAPAs will permit no further exchange of contact information.
189- I understand. I gave the most obscure hint I could and I did not intend to bring it up ever again even before you said that. Don’t worry.
This is getting creepy…that you can say the name of a site and you can find people? See, this is why I don’t want my info w/ pictures going around on these kinds of sites…*hides*
191-Notice my name? Online Stalker!! *finds* Bwa hahahaha….
My mom has Skype. I want iChat, though. Can somebody explain what StumbleUpon is?
StumbleUpon is a program or something that allows you to click a little button at the top of the screen and that takes you to a totally random page.
Halloooo…!!!!
I feel incredibly random today and…could someone explain to me WHAT IS HTML my friend tried but i just dont get what they are!!!!
also it is incredibly unfair that you Northern Hemispherens get a holiday in the middle of the year whereas our Summer Vacation down here in the very nearly Sub-Antarctic have to wait until Christmas Time!!!!!!
Do Americans have bebo???
just wondering!!!!
I will not stalk anyone and besides Im am half way around the world so it would be quite hard to….
Today is officially Monday. The Mondayness of today is slightly dull and discouraging. It reminds me of the hundreds of Mondays I’ve witnessed. How many weekends have ended for me. How I dread the feeling of starting another day of learning. But then I remember that I still have a little of summer left. So, that’s OK.
194-HyperText Markup Language, the codes used to make fonts and stuff for web pages. Like the bold one on MBlog. A “b” inside two angle brackets, in front of your text makes bold…
178- we use cents…. where in canada were you?
192- You can only have iChat if you have a mac.
I have a craving for cotton candy. Which I hate. Odd…
196-basically the code to make websites, along with spiffy things like italics, but now computers do it for you, using what other people wrote for them in an even more complicated, obscure language of some sort. whee, computers! and i still haven’t gotten around to learning html. wish i hadn’t been so lazy when summer started…i always forget that it basically ends a month earlier than you think with summer reading and band camp and suchlike.
Ahhhg. My dad is attempting to make me write an essay for a contest. It’s only a hundred words, but it’s supposed to be about “Your Most Memorable Penut Butter and Jelly Moment.” WTH? I don’t have any! Dad said I can just make it up then, but I do not want to do this.
…He also said that I can’t come on the computer till I do. May not see you guys later today. Or tomarrow. Or wednesday. This is stupid.
I’m in America now. I is tired. I got my Signature/HPB sweatshirt, and my Signature Notebook.
200) What’s a memorable Penut butter and Jelly moment? How can Penut Butter and Jelly be an impotant memory? It’s just food, and I don’t even like peanut putter and jelly together! Jelly is gross ,to me, and peanut butter is OK with chocolate, but that’s all. Maybe you can make a story where you ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich before you went to a big performance you were involved in and you got so nervous that you barfed all of you PB and J everywhere. That seems kind of realistic.
So, today I had to get up early and I went to a VEX Robotics class. It was okay building the robots. After three hours, the squarebot almost moved. I met interesting people, though. This is the first time I’ve ever met anyone with any TMBG music on their iPod. New best friend! And I was the only girl there, but it was okay. There were only six people.
re: online contact info. It’s ridiculously easy to find me on other sites, but you can’t get information about where I live on any of them. Actually, MuseBlog has more personal info then anywhere else.
(202, 200) Well, you could write about Paul Baker, but I suspect the peanut-butter manufacturer sponsoring the contest would not be amused.
Just bs the thing and write about the time you were really really really hungry or something.
So has anyone heard of Kiva.org? Kiva is this I guess microeconomics organization that loans small amounts to people in third-world countries, kind of like the Grameen bank that Muse ran an article about some time ago.. Anyway, my brother gave me a gift certificate there for my birthday, so I spent the afternoon picking businesses to give loans to.
I am back everyone. CTY was rawther awesome, the campus was very nice. Clean. With lots of trees. I like trees. I did not like Big Sat much, but I had much fun with ohter things. I am just talking and no one else is back yet. I will be spotty the next week, as i will be in Missouri with my friends. I am back!
206- Welcome back!
whats CTY? whats Big Sat?
205. that sounds awesome!!!!!
i wanna do it!
sorry to double post!!!!!!!!
my muse from JULY-AUGUST! isint here yet!
i was about to call the number but they live on the east coast and it is later at night there….it’s 6:00 here in texas…oh well.
I WANT MY MUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
210- August’s not over yet though, so it could still come.
GA!!
DOUGLAS ADAMS WAS GOING TO WRITE ANOTHER HG2G BOOK!
GAA!!!!
IT WAS TO BE CALLED “THE SALMON OF DOUBT”!!
GAAA!!!!!!
HE DIED!!!
GAAAA!!!!!!!!
WE’LL NEVER KNOW WHAT IT WAS ABOUT!!!!
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGACKHCKLGRL*dies*wwwwwwwwqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
212- Yes. Only it was going to be a Dirk Gently book. He’d realized that it might work better as a Hitchhiker’s book, but died before that happened. There was a collection published, posthumously, titled The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time that contains lots of short stories he wrote and the first few paragraphs of the unfinished Salmon of Doubt. It is slightly annoying to not get to read the rest of the book, though.
Yes, it is. I read it at the library, then this summer I had a copy I had just bought but somehow it disappeared. The fact that it disappeared halfway around the fricken plenet is not making me feel any better, especially as I bought it specifically to use durring my book report. GRRRR.
I imagine it was going to be about a Salmon of Doubt, whatever that is.
Oddly enough, that conjures up an image of a bowl of salmon dip. Just salmon dip.
Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love salmon dip. It’s very good with bread. I also like smoked salmon, although that it is not so good with bread. And baked salmon, but that gets boring after a while and moreover it often tastes funny. And canned salmon, but you have to eat it with something hot because it is Cold. Brr. But my very favorite is salmon that’s cooked in our fire-pit with garlic and other tasty stuff. But here’s something you should never do: Try to make blackberry cobbler over an open fire. With biscuit mix instead of a good homemade crust.
Waste of a good can of blackberries, that.
Oh yes, seafood. Oysters=delicious. Especially on crackers with lime. Not raw so much, though. Clams=ditto. But not fried, they’re too strong. They’re simply wonderful in chowder, however, and you get the bonus of a nice day at the seaside digging them up. Except it isn’t a nice day at all, because of the sand and the wet and the fact that clam season is in winter and more often than not it’s freezing. But it seems like nice day.
Somehow I think this is irrelevant. Was I supposed to be talking about Douglas Adams? Those books were weird. Too weird. I couldn’t finish them. But maybe I should try again?
Presently?
215- They are a bit… gross… in parts, but it’s worth it.
193: You could just use [snip!].
194: What country are you in…?
201: Exciting! What for?
212: Why did you tell us that?? Now this will bug me for eternity. Nice post, though. You’re so dramatic.
215- Why, you… HOW DARE YOU!!! Read it right now.
216, 217 218 – They were too bizarre. I must have missed the gross bits, or maybe I quit before I got to one, or maybe I forgot all about it. All I remember was that they were at the restaurant at the end of the universe, and the landscape was weird and there might have been a weird musician. And Zaphod Breeblebrox (or whatever his name is) sitting in a spaceship/airplane while a voice talked over the intercom. And a very large building. And a lot of references to previous the book(s) that I didn’t understand because I had never read the previous book(s).
My science fiction education has been sorely neglected. I couldn’t remember more than a scene or two that I glimpsed while half-asleep from Star Wars, until I watched it a week or so ago. It was very good, now I have to get the next two.
…And yet I managed to write perfectly good scifi. Maybe because I focused on the fi and not the sci.
Now I think of it, I can only name a few science fiction titles that I’ve read. One of them being Time Ghost which is highly obscure. I think. The others being the Young Wizards series. And HDM, which hardly counts.
Am I missing something here?
I’ve watched a lot scifi, though. Serenity, Farscape, and Red Dwarf are the only ones I can name right off but I know I’ve seen others. (Not including Star Wars, because I already mentioned that.)
They’re supposed to be bizarre. The author was spoofing all the “serious” scifi that was being written in those days.
219- Well, of course The Resturant at The End of The Universe isn’t going to make sense if you haven’t read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy! Read it. It is, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant books ever written. And I know this is an opinion shared by many intelligent people. Go! NOW! GET A COPY!
220- Yeah, it was still weird.
221- Fine, fine, I’m going to the library tomorrow anyhow.
school really is incredibly boring.
that is all I have to say about this day.
really.
Oh, I hate it when moderation messes up the numbering. For example, before ‘Dotty-kay’s post was moderated (217), my post, 219, replied to Glassboro’s and Canix’s post (now 216 and 218). But I doubt anyone else noticed before this post, so it doesn’t really matter.
[‘Tis amended. –ReB]
221- It was my mother who tried to turn me onto to those books anyway. I don’t think the library had the first one, so she picked one at random. Or something like that.
As it was, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe spent quite a while in places I won’t mention for fear I should be banned while I recovered from the weirdness and until I had quite forgotten about it. In fact, a lot of books ended up in that-place-that-I-can’t-mention, including The Two Towers, which may account for it’s somewhat bedraggled state currently. *sigh* Now they just end up under my pillow or in my coat pocket or in some other such unlikely place.
Speaking of which, I found my book out in the pasture today, sitting on a log. Brilliant of me, to be sure. I’m lucky it didn’t rain.
And while we’re on the subject of unfinished sequels, Arthur Ransome was in the middle of a book when he died. Bother. It was called… *wikipedias it and gets sidetracked by the nice timeline*
Oh, what? Oh yes… It was (and is) called Coots in the North. I need to get my hands on it…
soz bout doublw posting
217-New Zealand, South Island,East Coast where it is cold…I could have been born in the West Coast where it is a biit hotter, or even, preferably California, or Texas, or Tokyo, or somewhere that isnt here any way, but no, I was born ‘here’, cold damp miserable…
225- Is it morning there? Man, that would be weird.
Farewell for a while MB, for I have seven hour driver’s ed classes for the next four days. Plus the JRR forums call to me.
I seriously don’t want to sit in a classroom for seven hours..fadhjkgag
212- WHAAAAAATTTTTTT…. cant find the stupid question mark key……. goes and dies….
did any of you HG2G lovers see the thing bbc made it? i JUST found the questionmark….. anyways, i borowed it from my teacher, it was goooooood.
A long time ago, I read the first book of The Hitchhikers Guide, and I didn’t like it at all. But after coming to MB, (a year or two later) I decided to read it again, and I found it, and the rest in the series, quite hilarious. But I’m not denying that they’re completely confusing, and I hated the ending of the last book. And some parts are gross.
I still have to read the detective stories, though…
Bwahahaaa…I really hope the GAPA’s post the picture I sent them…it’s pretty great!
GAPAs can we have another titles, nicknames and labels thread because the old one is sort of dead and REALY hard to get to? please? and mabe another anime graphic novels one because its hard to get to? pretty please?
[I’ve added them to Don’t Forget These Threads. Now they’re easy to get to. –ReB]
my dad is calling muse offices right now!!!!!
oooh i hope i get my muse!!!
they are resending it yayy!
Wow. Soemone was talking about seafood. I love stuffed crab and fried clam strips. Either that or boiled shrimp, but that’s more expensive.
219- No! Star Trek beats Star Wars. But, seeing as you’re watching Star Wars, please tell me you’re watching the original trilogy before the prequels?
217: That was a website title, although I admit it sort of resembled a link … perhaps I should have called it just Random Website, and let people fend for themselves if they want to find it? It does the same thing StumbleUpon does, basically just brings up a random webpage, although SU probably has more features. It’s mostly harmless and I found some interesting stuffus yesterday.
234- I’ve seen Star Wars before when I was small and couldn’t stay awake to see the Death Star being blown up, and I dimly remember that the prequels weren’t very good. I don’t intend to watch them again. I do, however, want to watch the next two…
My dad used to watch Star Trek, and I must admit they sound interesting. But it is rare that I’m in a place with cable or satellite or whatever so I don’t get to see them. I’ve seen a few of the downright ancient ones, but I can no longer tell them apart from the numerous Farscape episodes.
The old Star Wars movies are AWESOME! The new ones are stinky though. The new ones just don’t have the classic feel of the old ones. The new ones just seem FAKE!
229 & related- I wouldn’t say gross, exactly. They just have more on that topic than other things that you’ve read at this time. Of course, that’s my own opinion. I also think that they’re some of the best books ever, although I’ve lost the end of the last one. Don’t but The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, because it’s badly bound.
228- What do you mean? Do you mean a movie, or the original radio shows?
232-You didn’t get your July one?

I’m Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve just come home from Australia and I’ll be on the traveler’s tales because my internal clock won’t let me sleeep at 2 am!
Re: seafood- Lobster.
Re: star wars- I’m going to watch them all the way through in sequential order (not the order they were made), so I might finally understand the plot.
GAPAs! I have a cool idea for a name for the September random thread, if you didn’t already have one: Sep-temper! Because skool is starting and people are adjusting and all. Good?
238-I would say that I have definitely read many books that have been as “gross” or much more “gross” than that series, in the way we are defining gross at the present time. But I also meant gross in another manner, like with the whale in the first book.
I’ve watched a bit of Star Treck and Star Wars, and I have to admit that I like Store Wars better than either of them, though they are all good… XD
Ah, wonderful to see some of the people I used to know are still here.
I am completely fried on summer reading, and school starts in two weeks. On the positive side, however, I’m going to Carowinds with my friend Kathryn on Thursday!
Star Wars posts: “The Death Melon!” Five hot pink bunny points to Ravenclaw if you can name where that quote came from.
Seafood- Mahi mahi. The fish so scrumpdiddlyumptious they named it twice! Try tilapia, too.
Considering I’ve been gone for nearly a year (and I am completely open to “BLOG DESSERTER!” hate-pies, I deserve it), I never told anyone about the fantastically brilliant musical that my school put on that was a massive success. I wanted to audition, but I had to be a band geek again *mutters darkly*, and I just painted sets. But this year, I’m in! And we are most likely doing The Wiz. Can anyone tell me about it? I couldn’y find much on the Webernet.
I had something to say, but I forgot it while reading other people’s posts, darn it.
Oh yes!
Has anyone here seen Chad Vader?
243- I’ve heard of Store Wars, but never got around to seeing it.
Back to reading my publishing books. I’m going to turn into one myself if I don’t stop soon.
241- Have you already seen them in production order?
I like cheese.
244- Store Wars! That was a funny vidio. XD
And welcome back!
I want to see Hairspray!!!! Is it good? I also want to see Stardust, but I dont really have the faintest idea of what it is about. It just looks cool.
244- *pies with hate pies* I should be pied about half as much as Gwendolyn, though, as I deserted for maybe 8 months or something.
194-Yes, we have bebo.
197-Ontario.
202-I have a memorable PB&J moment, but it would take up the whole page. Which I don’t want to do. Specially wit carpel tunnel.
203-I found you on something like xxcd…
206-Welcome back to reality!
re:Seafood-Please don’t get me started. Lobster=yummy. Crab=delicious. Shrimp=devine.
I just came back from the pool. It’s a fricking 205o here.
244-“The Death Melon! The giant fruit threatens us all!” Store Wars!
The Wiz! joy/cheesiness:
“Come on and, ease on down, ease on down the rrrrooooadddd
Come on and, ease on down, ease on down the rrrrooooadddd
Don’t you carry ‘nothin that might be a load
Come on and ease on down ease on down, down the rrooooooooadddddd”
And then there’s “Home”, and others. Mind you, I’ve never actually seen the musical…
249-I want to see the Stardust movie, too, if it’s going to be anything like the book!
251-Ontario! I’ve been there before!!
251) It can’t possibly be 205 degrees! It’s hot, but not THAT hot!
BRING GUM, THE PIGS ARE ATTACKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
249- Yes, it’s a good movie. Very talented actors and actresses. John Travolta doesn’t do drag in that movie, and he’s emulated the sixties housewife almost perfectly. Queen Latifah is awesome, too. I’m going to see the Broadway touring production when it comes near my town this spring. It’s supposedly much different from the movie. I also may be going to see Wicked (EEEE!!!!!) when it comes to Charlotte. I’m obsessed with that musical. I’ve read the book it was based on- and the sequel- and memorized almost every song. Bloody good books, by the way, read them if you get the chance.
I have a random question for GAPAs and MBers alike!
If a rip in the space-time continuum were to open up, swallow you, and then spit you back out in 1943 in the middle of a big band dance hall, what would you do?
I have actually worked out several scenarios for this, but the answers I get are always interesting.
thank you very, very, very much!!!!!!!!!
238- movie
254- I would pretend that I was part of the crowd and slowly work my way to the exit. Because I don’t know how to dance.
244- THE WIZ!!!!!!!!
Go google Curlz MT-YouTube and you’ll see why I’m screaming.
Has anyone here read Maximum Ride? I just finished the third one and it’s up there in my favorite books list. Plus it’s META.
254) OMG! Wicked is coming to Charlotte! *Eyes grow wide in exctiement and jumps up and down*
257) No I haven’t. If I had been one year younger, I would have read it for Battle of the Books, but they don’t have B.O.B in highschool. I may try to read it anyway though!
GAH! The Empowered threads are difficult to read. I am determined to join, though!
META!!!!!
let’s have a thread about meta.
254- Jump up, scream “The aliens are coming” and leave.
259- Haha, very difficult. But it is a very good story, and fun.
258- Highschool? How old are you, kiwimuncher?
I have spent the day sitting in the rather damp pasture eating blackberries and reading Interstellar Pig. What fun, what fun.
Our amazing, magical, self-setting clock seems to have failed. Whether this is because the batteries are run down or because the atomic clock itself is running 3 and a half hours slow I couldn’t say.
260- What is “meta”? Metaphysical? Metafiction? Metaspaghetti?
253-Yez, yez, it is. The tar on the elementary school’s blacktop cracks got all melty. That happened a few years ago, when I was there, and we were all getting sticks and sticking them in the tar and chasing eachother around. It was gross, especially when it got on my hand and burned three fingers. But it was better, cuz we had the pool go to.
254-I would probably freak and start asking hotte girls to dance. I would probably be mega cool or mega unpopular because the clothing style would be completely different. Then I might do something completly fun like throwing eggs or cartwheeling around or screaming fire and run VERY FAST away.
Ugh. I woke up at like 2:30 and read Harry Potter until my eyeballs fell out. Now I have to find my eyeballs.
264-I feel terrible for you. Another reason I don’t read Harry, it’s a bit hard finding your own eyeballs when you can’t see them…hmmm…well, good luck with that…
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I will be gone for about three days, and during that time will probably not have access to a computer. Just to let people know.
ALICE, GO AND READ POST 84 ON THE EMPOWERED THREAD IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
266- Already did. And replied. Go read the answer!
246- err, yes. but very spaced out. I’m watching the first one (sequential) tonight.
254- Leave the planet. Phone NASA. Phone the White House. Phone the Kremlin. Phone the Pope for guidance. Flag down a passing flying saucer and explain that’s it’s very important I get away before my phone bill arrives.
(I’m just full of notices and announcements today!)
TO ALL WHO STILL CARE ABOUT THE EMPOWERED STORY, GO TO THE THREAD ASAP AND READ POSTS 84 TO THE MOST CURRENT! THE STORY DESPERATELY NEEDS A MAKEOVER, AND WE CAN DO IT! WE JUST NEED EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE STORY TO PITCH IN!
254. wicked is a flamablablous musical!i love it! i have been in small skits from it! it is super cool!!!!!—also for the dance thing i would dance a little then probably find some sort of relative and tell them i am stuck here…help meeee!
so…um… haven’t been posting much.
Still on Martha’s Vineyard, which is quite fun. We’ve been innertubing, and boating, and eating, and shopping. My cousins and I were out on the boat, and Evan pulled up about 100 ft. from the Harthaven beach and we swam to shore which was niiiiiice.
anyways, during dinner, mother and I decided we should go do Europe next summer. England (cus I have family there), Germany (cus I have friends there), Greece (family), France (missed Paris), and possibly Switzerland or Italy.
anyways, I’m eeeeeexcited.
also, sorry for my general absence as of late.
271- Go to Venice! And take me with you, while you’re at it…
Just kidding. I’m obsessed with Venice though.
268- Good idea. Did you know that I was born somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse?
268- Oh, okay, all good then. ^_^ Though I still prefer the Trek.
Traggle, go to the Role-Playing Writing thread, where I have finally posted a summary for you!
I am varying my name, if you hadn’t noticed. I’ve been wanting a good variation that I could use for a while for a long time now (not something like, “Alice who is bored right now”). This is not only a good variation, but an apt one. I will always be an exception to the rule, whether here where I am one of the few people who realize the merits of miniskirts (not reeeeeeeeeally short ones, though), or in “real” life where I am the only pie-throwing novelist in the class.
Hello random thread! I got kicked and/or punched/elbowed in the face, jaw, ribs, and leg while sparring at taekwondo today. It was really nice that everyone I sparred hit the same spots again and again. It was also nice that the spot on my leg was the same spot where I got hit by the corner of a heavy bookshelf a few days ago. Ouch! No pain no gain! *sings intro to “Eye of the tiger”* Yay sparring!
I think Wicked is in Cleveland. Or they already left. I’m so mad I can’t go though because my mom doesn’t want to take me all the way to Cleveland. Bleh. My friend Jake saw it last year in Pittsburgh. I should scan his brain and watch it. Wow, long post!
227-well, right now it is 1605 I mean timewise not datewise although you never know….so thats 4:05 PM
254: dance!!!!!! and also do some super-shneaky espionage to prevent the manhattan project/ hiroshima because I would have no papers or identity…also try to instigate social change earlier (think civil rights movement)
272) Yes, Venice is awesomely awesome and I’m not that much into highschool, I’m just going to be a Freshy this year.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm. cheese.
276- Ouch. And that wasn’t a particularly long post. Maybe by some standards, but not very long.
I like long posts. They’re one of the things that distinguish the blog from a chatroom.
My main problem is that I feel bad after reading a long post because I write short ones. Maybe I make up for that by not keyboard mashing or anything…
speaking of long posts…(copied off my LJ cuz i’m lazy)
the fair!
So i didn’t end up going to see weird al…it was just too much money for him, honestly. i like him, but not that much. maybe if he had come a few years ago i would’ve. but i didn’t feel like spending $20
i spent plenty of money at the fair as it was! eep. i always spend way more than i plan on. anyway, from the beginning, i had band camp at 9. we got out early (11:30ish) so i saved a bit by eating lunch at home. i got a ride with bill, monica, leeny and bill’s mom (bill’s mom didn’t actually stay though). leeny and i got wristbands right away (it’s $20, but it pays for all rides, and with the number of rides i went on, it was a good deal :D) bill and i got the refillable lemonades (i got about seven or eight refillls…it was SO hot). they’re a bit expensive, but you also get to keep the bottle, which is rather nice, and certainly large. so i have another good waterbottle now. we walked around and looked at the animals. the rabbits were all so scared, it was sad. and we went through all the stands and looked at stuff. we didn’t actually buy anything though. then danny called to say he, hewitt, and dan had arrived, so we met up with them and went on a bunch of rides. then jacob, courtney, and hunter came. hunter found a girl named trillian (amazing name :D) and hung out with her the whole time. she seemed cool. bad taste in music, but hunter’s is horrible. Once jacob got there, dan (who i had been mostly hanging out with, along with bill and leeny) started being an ass, like usual, and courtney, we love her but she does tend to squeak and squeal. so hewitt and danny and i went over to the campgrounds and did the archery and fishing and hung out there a bit. oh and hewitt got us some buckeyes which are surprisingly fun just to throw around. i still have mine it rivals a raquetball (not quite as bouncy, but that’s probably a good thing in a crowded fair. we also had some samples of fish, which were really good. i had so many free samples…they were selling dipping sauce stuff, and there was one called garlicky garlic that was amazing…i had like five pretzel sticks worth of that. and then people were selling chips and putting out little boxes of samples…i took like four pretzel boxes and a chip box. but anyway, getting back to our vague chronological order.
around dinnertime we went to the meat place…i think it was called taste of ohio or some such, it was a big air-conditioned building right by the giant slide that sold ice cream and meat. bill and monica started midly freaking out because i had their weird al tickets (i had pockets that snapped), so they called and we told them where we were about five times to about five different people, all of whom got the wrong building (the same wrong building). around then hewitt left to meet his dad, who had come for the concert. Finally, we said “we’ll just come to you” and so we did and immediately dan starts bitching at US for being stupid, even though they were the ones that screwed up. so i give bill and monica their tickets, and we go off with those who aren’t going to the concert (me, leeny, danny, jacob, dan, and courtney) and go on more rides. at 8:30, danny’s parents come and leeny and i leave with him…we’d been there (leeny and i) since 12, so we were like “eeh…”
it was really fun, as usual i went on the drop for the first time. it wasn’t that bad…by the time i realized we were falling we were halfway down. it was freaky, but not as freaky as i thought it would be. and it was a great view (which was how danny had gotten me up there in the first place) so another good time at the fair
I like long posts too.
Isn’t ironic that I said this on a pitifully short post? Geez.
283- Good times. I missed both of the fairs we have here, both Snipvillefest and Snip County Fair. We used to make stuff for the fair (drawings, odd things and such) and win ribbions (and money! 3 dollers for a blue, two for a red, 1 for a yellow, none for the rest even though it goes to about 9 places. It costs money to enter though). Last year or the year before I got one of those big ribons for a plate I painted at a ceramic place. I didn’t thinnk it was that great, but whatever. This year we just sort of missed it… Snipville fest had been while we were on vacation though. I was looking forward o it, too… oh well.
Our fair is on the 16th. And lasts to the 18th. Fun. But it would be funner if I had some friends to go with. =\
But today and tomorrow and all the way to Monday, there is a climate convergence thingamabobber that I will go to. It will be most interesting, to see people subverting the dominant paradigm in town where three quarters of the population doesn’t know what subvert or paradigm means. I wonder what they’ll do.
Last year I won Best of Show for a pillow that I made. It’s still a lovely pillow, but the embroidery is started to come apart. This year I will be submitting my pretty lacy scarf, a purple dress I made years ago, and possibly some blackberry syrup if we ever get around to making it. And I might finish another little pillow and submit that too. I need to finish it no matter what…
PEOPLE PLEEEEEAAAASA GO ON THE ANIME/GRAPHIC NOVELS/MANGA THREAD! I AM THE ONLY ONE POSTING THERE!
Wow. I’m sad. My penpal from Canada just ditched me after 5 years of being friends. She told me that she had changed and that I didn’t understand her anymore. Then she cussed me out and told me that our friendship might as well be over. I miss the old version of my friend. Now she’s a jerk.
288- Woa, harsh. I have a penpal from England, but I havnt heard from her in like two years, and she is like four years older than me, so she probably isnt interested anymore or something. I also have a penpal from California that I emial, but I havnt heard from her since like… New Years, but I am confident that she will write me back, she takes long brakes like that, and plus, now its summer. Well kinda, almost over. *sigh*
288- Wow. I’m sorry. *gives consolatory pie* That’s really rude.
I never manage to keep penpals. One of us always stops writing eventually. The penpal I kept the longest was my great-grandmother, and now she’s dead.
I had an Irish penpal when I was eight or so. After a while she stopped writing, though… God, I can’t even remember her name now!
I’ve had various penpals who I wrote about two letters to, before one or the other of us quit, and myself and a friend of mine corresponded for a long time, by email and letter, since we live far away from each other. It’s been a while since we talked, though.
And then I have the address of a girl with which I am going to play the letter game, and she’s much older than me, and I haven’t sent the letter yet. I’ll get around to copying out the draft sometime.
Make that, “with whom.”
276-I hate sparring. Maybe that’s because I’m ALWAYS paired with people twice my height. But I love forms and weapons! I do Karate, not TaeKwanDo.
288-*gasp* For some reason, that reminds me of Cho Chang from Harry Potter… maybe it’s because I was reading it ’till six last night….
290-My longest pen pal was about two years, and we were corresponding from VA to CA. I’m going to see her (and missing a KoKonvention) on the 15th.
I went and found an online radio that lets me put the songs on my WMP library.
my “penpals” are all over email or IM, and are usually pretty spontaneous. like right now, i’m talking to somebody named jordan who found my sn on scriptfrenzy. the internet is a rather odd place. i still talk to people i met years ago on xanga and suchlike
HAHAHAHAHA….a song by the band Muse just came on the radio when I opened the blog….
I had an italian penpal. She was my aunts boyfriends neice. Except for a lot of time spent poring over an italian-english dictionary it was pretty fun. Then my aunt and her uncle got engaged. Then my aunt dumped him. That was the end of my penpal.
288- I’m sorry. It was nothing you did, just her being rude.
263- Metafiction. It basically means that the book has links in it that when you enter them on a browser it goes to a real website. For example, Max (main character) has a myspace and Fang (other mc) has a blog. Cool, eh?
I’m typing this on a Nintendo DS. DS Browser, the program’s called. It comes on a regular game chip, you put it in, it finds a WiFi network, and you’re set!
I havn’t ever had a penpal. I think it would be fun though…
i have a french exchange penpal, i like it cuz i practice my french and she’s really cool. i also had a friend who moved that i used to write to a lot but that just sort of died, mostly because i kept forgetting to actually mail the letters.
wow, it’s been a while since i last posted and i feel so out of it. one reason it has been a while- this weekend we went to a renaissance faire. it was amazing and i officially love them.
is anyone else excited that ECLIPSE just came out?! i know i am. speaking of which… alice, i think you live in washington (if not, i am really sorry. i thought i saw it on the newbie post like 2 months ago but it could have been someone else) if so, do you live in Forks? do you know if it actually exists? (GAPAs and everyone else, this is not some creepy stalker question. anyone who has read twilight, new moon, or eclipse knows what i’m asking)
hope everyone’s having a good summer (or winter if they are south of the equator ::): )
299- Forks. I’ve never been there myself, but I think my dad sold a car to someone in Forks… or something like that. I’ve heard of – oh. Hang on a moment, I just figured out where I heard of it. *thumps self on head* I’ll check an Atlas.
I know there is one, because it said so in the index, but, irritatingly enough, I can’t find it. It’s somewhere in the Puget Sound area, anyways.
297- Wow, I haven’t been paying attention to things for my ds for a while. I haven’t used it in a month or something, either.
