okay, now everyone is going read this thread and be confused.
no, i’m not watching them. my parents are though. i watched some people ski. usually i watch the skating.
oh yes, i see. you thought ‘olympics thread, good idea’, pushed the button ‘use awesome gapa powers’, and ‘create new thread’ and typed in ‘winter olympics’ and pushed ‘ok’ without even thinking. (i really have no idea how gapas go about creating new threads, but i imagine it goes something like that)
Do the opening ceremonies get more strange every year, or is it just me? Apparently (I was at a sabre class,) they had people dressed up in cow suits dancing around. Cow suits?

As I am writing this, my brother and dad are watching the Olympics right now, and my dad is critisizing most of the events. (I don’t blame him.)
Oooh, I ♥ the Olympics. I watch ice-skating mostly, although I think down-hill skiing is also fun to watch. Rawr.
The olympics rock. I actually like the summer ones better, but the winter stuff’s cool too.
My mom is freaked out by the skiing. She’s always like “oh they’re gonna die, oh i can’t watch” but she always watches it anyway.

Phoenix, you can find them on the NBC news channel, or if you don’t like TVs, I think a few radio stations are doing something about it.

I’m kind of sorry for Michelle (Kwan) that she had to drop out, but on the other hand I thought all along that Emily Hughes deserved the spot more.

Yes. She announced it today. She has a groin injury and doesn’t think she’d be competitive. Emily Hughes is to replace her but couldn’t fly to Italy right away because of the snowstorm.

I watch the hockey(USA won 5-0!!!). And the skiing. And the skating. And the luge(SP?). And a lot more that i cant remember at the moment.

There’s hockey in the winter olympics? I didn’t even know that. And I like hockey too. Darn. I like figure skating, snowboarding, and the luge. That just looks like so much fun, sliding about on your gut… Well, I like them all, but those are my favorites. Unless there are more I didn’t know about.

Dude, how cool would it have been if that Chinese team had stuck their quad-throw. That would have been amazing. Wow.
Oh, this is embarrassng. (It is embarrrrasssing that I don’t know how to spell embarasing.) I SO watch the Olympics. I watch for the little “up close and personal” thingies in which you see how much the guy or gal has always wanted to win (and the tragedies that they have endured); and I watch because sometimes the commercials are so funny.
And then I make categories:
Events that look way too hard I don’t even want to think about it:
* Figure skating. Ice is cold and hard; I don’t want to wear those tiny skirts.
* Luge. I would want to look up and see where I was going, which I realize would ruin the aerodynamics of it all.
Events that look like a piece of cake:
* Mogul skiing. Like, all you gotta do is make your legs all jelly-like and you’re set!
* Ski jumping. After you slide down that big hill, what ELSE are you going to do besides jump into the air?
Events I would like to see:
• Extreme winterishness, in which participants must make the totally perfect snowball and throw it right in the middle of a friend’s back, then make a perfect snow angel; then run inside and make a perfect batch of hot chocolate that would serve 6.
but that’s just me.

Have you been watching women’s hockey? the USA was in the semifinals but they lost to Canada….they still got the bronze though. My sister once met Cammi Gronato, one of the players for the US. And I met Sarah Tooting, a goalie. Jadestone plays hockey so she’s into that stuff.
I got hit on the head with a hockey stick once. That ruined the glamor for me. Ow.
I love field hockey but i can’t skate.
I played a long time ago but quit because I didn’t have enough time.

Last night, we turned the sound off on the TV and played modern classical/jazz music instead, and it was GREAT! The skaters seemed to be dancing to OUR music. If I ever watch TV again, this is what I’ll do.
