i don’t know if anyone will notice this because my dad doesn’t go on museblob but it’s my dad’s birthday today. we didn’t have much of a party but we had pizza and cheesecake and rootbeer. it wasn’t much. but the food (exept the rootbeer) was homemade and was delicious. the pizza had to be gluten free because mom is on a diet but it was still delicious. and i don’t like to brag so i will stop talking about the party before it sounds like bragging. and i am typing as fast as i can and albablablamuhlubba!

Why would she lecture you about pronunciation? Do you guys know each other in person, then?

        • Catwoman says:

no. i know none of you in person. but once i read somewhere where she commented where you know i pretended i was BadLuckKitty. and she told me about not to do that and at the end of her post she said “also you should use capital letters where they are needed otherwise no one will want to read your posts” or something like that and to tell you the truth Cinnamoon. I don’t really enjoy to be constantly reminded to use correct grammar. what if you lecture someone about using that stuff and he/she doesn’t KNOW how to use grammar in the first place so you tell him/her to use .s or ,s in certain spots and she don’t know where to puit them.
maybe you should tell him/her where they go instead of just telling them they go somewhere they might, get it wrong! like, this… see.?

          • Castle says:

            Apostrophe use is complex.

An apostrophe is usually used to denote that a certain person owns an object. If I were to say “Those legos belong to Castle” I would be stating that I am the owner of some legos. If I were to say “Those are Castle’s legos” I would be saying the same thing. I write “Castle” and then an ” ‘s “, denoting that they belong to me.

If I were to say “Those are Jimmy’s legos” I’d be stating that they belong to Jimmy. If I said “Those are Jimmys legos” I’d either be using improper grammar or I would be saying that the legos were called “Jimmys legos”.

If I put the apostrophe AFTER the “s”, it denotes ownership by multiple people, e.g. “Those are the boys’ legos”. That sentence says that the legos are owned by more than one boy. If I said “Those are the boy’s legos” I’d be saying that they belong to someone that I call “the boy”.

Apostrophes are also used in contractions. A contraction is when you take two words and squish them into one, like “can not”. “Can not” becomes “can’t”. “Do not” becomes “don’t”. “I would” becomes “I’d”. You take the first word, place an apostrophe after it, and then the last letter or two of the second word.

            “You are” becomes “you’re”.
            “You have” becomes “you’ve”.

            ______

As for other grammar that people tend to mess up a lot:

            Their, there and they’re:

“Their” is used to imply ownership by multiple people. “Oh, that’s their firetruck” or “Yes, that is their house”.
“There” is used to talk about a place. “Yes, I have been there” or “There! An alien!”.
“They’re” is a contraction of “they are”. For example “They are about to go for lunch” is the same as “They’re about to go for lunch”.

            Your and you’re:

“Your” implies ownership. “Yes, that is yours.”
“You’re” is a contraction of “you are”. “You are a silly goose” is the same as “You’re a silly goose”.

Yes, but she can’t judge your pronunciation of anything unless she hears you speak…? Am I missing something here?
Aww, CW, I’m sure she didn’t mean to make you feel sad. Castle knows ALL the things, so just look at his post. <3
