The good news is that dear old MB is back online. Post away, and let’s hear how you spent your Saturdays!
Now here’s the bad news:
We didn’t manage to upgrade the software. Robert spent his Saturday trying to install three different versions of new WordPress software, each of which proved fatally flawed. As a result,
1. we haven’t been able to revive the “Recent Comments” sidebar; and
2. we’re going to have to go through the upgrade ordeal again in the near future.
The partially offsetting compensatory news is that we’ve stumbled across some new things that we think you like and plan to try them soon.
But not yet! It’s too nice a day here (and here, and here, and here).
I guess I’m the only one on yet. It’s 10:23 AM, local time. I had the stomach flu.
Felt all cold, had a headache, threw up in a bucket. Not much else to report.
I tried to post on numerous threads, screamed, ran around screaming, died.
I knitted some more cell phone cozies.
I cast on my fingerless mittens that I’m knitting – on four needles!
I sewed up some more cell phone cozies.
I went to Hobbycraft and bought more yarn.
I thought about yarn.
Have you noticed that my Saturdays are spent knitting, other knitting related things, thinking about knitting, and Museblogging?
I finished my oil painting, or at least as much of it as I can do without waiting for it to dry, and doing another layer.
I did hours and hours of homework.
I practiced piano for what seemed like hours and hours.
I did hours and hours of research for Model UN.
Despite doing hours and hours of seemingly arduous things, it was a relatively good day!
GAPAs: are you ever going to show us that thing Rebecca said you were working on, that is somewhat similar to the Anti-Chatroom thread?
Yes, that’s coming soon. We’re looking for a propitious date to unveil it — either the vernal equinox or the Ides of March. Stay tuned…
Well, my posts died.
and.. I noticed how broke the blog was. Glad it’s back. But it ATE MY POSTS! oh well.
Poor gimanator.
My saturday was spent cleaning my room. No joke; I spent 5 and a half HOURS cleaning my room. This is what I do when MB is offline.
6-Voluntarily? You’re a braver person than I am… Or you just have a cleaner room.
1-Eep! I hope you feel better soon!
4-Beware the Ides of March!
Winter term just ended–it only took 24.5 hours of vacation for me to walk over to Mom and ask if there were any chores she wanted me to do. My school keeps everyone so busy and stressed out all the time that we don’t even know how to relax when we have the luxury. I’m serious. I keep looking at the clock and thinking I have to go somewhere, or I catch myself thinking, “and I can probably get some homework done after this.”
In the past two days, I’ve cleaned a bathroom, vacuumed the entire house, made salads for dinner, put away my laundry, set aside all the clothes I’ve grown out of, made chili for dinner, done some dishes, and taken the dog out about 10 times (twice at midnight, because she is having…digestive issues XP).
And the blog was down yesterday, to my despair, or I might have spent a blissful hour perusing it. How in the world am I going to survive this vacation, which is more than two weeks long?! The worst part is that the more helpful I am (out of this arbitrary sense of obligation), the more my parents expect me to do. Rawr. Waaah…I want to go back to school!
How about the ideas of March? They can be dangerous, too.
(Robert): I vote the Ides of March, because it’s closer!
And, you know what I just realized? My 2-year anniversary is tomorrow! *eyes bulge*
(10) Yes, well that might be the problem. Being closer, I mean. Hmm…upon further thought, it might actually make more sense on the later date.
(9) Oh, yes, the ideas of March are perilous indeed.
I missed my 2 year anniversary. It was the 9th of february.
Don’t know if anyone else uses it, but you can see some of the recent comments in the Comments RSS feed.
MB was working for me last night but no one was around so lolll
Yay! I was worried for a moment that you were gone for good, because I personally could not live without MuseBlog.
(13) Thanks for pointing that out, Axa.
(14) We missed it, too, believe me!
I found that nothing new had happened on MB in the night.
I finished reading my book.
I hung out on various other forums which I shall not name.
I tried to load MuseBlog with varying degrees of success.
I read “Beyond the Deepwoods”, which made me think of Canix for the first few pages but quickly changed.
I tried to load MuseBlog and failed.
I listened to “A Prairie Home Companion”.
I made Green Goddess Dressing.
I couldn’t load MuseBlog.
I read some more.
A friend come over.
We ate the strange cake that Opal had made.
We went and walked around town and looked at art galleries.
We sat in one of the art galleries and talked till 11.
We went home.
I read some more.
I fell asleep.
And today, I have homework. Should have done it yesterday.
•Cornell notes (these I already begun, but I have to skim the book to make sure I didn’t miss anything)
•Organize my science binder (I could stand to organize the rest of my bag too)
•Math homework (shouldn’t take more than a few minutes)
•Chapters 18 and 20 of my health book. I think I will be scarred for life.
Aha. So that’s why it looked like the blog had been deleted when I tried to go on.
I spent Friday and Saturday at a children’s home–it’s kind of like an orphanage, except that the kids there had been abandoned by their parents, rather than their parents dying. The kids there range in age from 1 month to 18 years old. I spent most of my time there with the older girls–you would not believe how happy they were to see someone new. Anyway, ’twas a fun weekend.
7- yes, VOLUNTARILY. I think I need help. It’s neater than… it’s neater than a bank now.
I went to the science fair and showed my project.
I bought a new binder.
I bought a new video game.
I did my homework.
I played my new game.
I ate dinner.
A big storm started and the power went out for 6 hours, so I couldn’t go onto MuseBlog and see that something was wrong.
Yesterday: I went to a science fair and spent most of my time there hanging out with penguini and illicitly exploring the middle school stage.
I went to this talk my parents were giving on lego league in our area and tried to help.
I walked around outside, jumping in puddles and eventually creating a place for mud sledding in the extremely wert ground in the backyard.
I went online, wasting time.
I started to write a story based on the prompt “It was a dark and stormy night.” Haven’t finished that yet- don’t know where it’s going.
I practiced trombone, ate three meals, all that normal everyday stuff.
Did anyone see that the
went back to being a lightbulb?
Yes, the blog was weird.
Gim- it ate my posts, too. Now I have to go back to RRR SMAS-TT and post what I can remember of my research.
Man, this is bad…
Folks, beyond saying you died from the lack of the blog you should be thanking the GAPAs for all of their work. Especially Robert, who probably is running around screaming and dying because he spent his entire Saturday trying to fix the blog, to have it not work anyway.
*Hands thank you pies and chocolate* *tells Chad to help, as he has not so far*
I did miss the blog, but I feel terrible for Robert. At certain times it looked like I could have posted, but I didn’t. I didn’t see any other posts from people, so I thought it a bad idea to even try…
Yesterday I was walking around in the rain in the morning (for a purpose) and walking around in the wind in the afternoon. Then, a huge cloud went over and we had strong winds and hail and pounding rain beating against the car while we were inside
Anyway, I’m sorry Robert spent all of that time and it still didn’t work.
Red-tailed HAWK

Wait. I did manage to load MB once yesterday and I posted, saying that “the blog is back to normal, but there’s still no recent comments bar.”
That post is gone.
A post that I just wrote disappeared…
(23 and others) I saw six or seven posts in the queue at some point yesterday. Unfortunately, they were lost in the shuffle. I’m sorry I didn’t think to copy them for later. My only excuse is that I was steeling myself for an invasion of cub scouts (a tour group at work, perhaps I should clarify).
I’m still sick today, so I’m back on the Internet, as I don’t have much else to do. I’m even too sick to go to the library!
Well, I died a couple of times…
27- ?
Dying generally only occurs once in a person’s lifetime.
The random thread dropped to its chronological position, as did DFTT, IMCT and Welcome, Neophytes. Just thought you should know.
28- Actually, it generally occurs after a person’s lifetime.
POSOC (29): Yes, the sticky threads lost their stickiness!
I only posted one comment yesterday, saying something along the lines of “Oh, the blog is working now! How did your “tinkering” go, Robert?” But, the blog wasn’t completely back to normal, and it was eaten and such.
There were 34 posts backed up in the queue when I checked last night (though at least two were spam). I tried moderating one but it didn’t work – so I left the rest there. I’m afraid they all became bunny food.
(29, 30) Don’t know what happened, and the usual remedy doesn’t work at the moment. Guess we’ll just have to carry on as best we can for now.
Well, I don’t mind. I’m used to the blog being a little weirder than normal by now. As long as I can look at the “fiction, poetry, and fanfiction” category, I’m happy.
33- Yeah, the FPAF category became my substitute for the Recent Comments bar, because I could look through all of my favorite threads and see if there were any new posts on them.
I had boy scouts all day, so It Didn’t bother me.
I did Destination Imagination almost all day yesterday, so I wasn’t too bewildered.
I’m glad it’s back, though.
I wasn’t on because I had a training day at the fort. (Historical stuff at a local site.)
Actually, I didn’t even remember that the blog was going to be down….oops.
the thing I’m wondering about it why id the random thread below all the other stuff? It’s usually on top, but now it’s below several other threads that it was on top of last time….hmm.
Anyway, thanks to the APAs, especially Robert, for doing all this for us, and I’m really sorry it didn’t work.
22~ We heard that there was a tornado near you all, but I’m assuming that all you got was the high winds described in your post.
Anyway, I’m off to check some other threads.
There wasn’t any announcement that the blog was going to be down, so I didn’t know what was going on until the blog was semi-fixed (except only the “Home” page was there and all the comments were eaten), and I read the “Strange Days” thread and Robert’s comment about it.
I’m glad MB is back… thats all
34- Precisely.
In fact, even before the sidebar went out of business, the FPAF category was quite useful.
Oh, another thing I did yesterday was buy a petticoat (skirt, colonial term) at the aforementioned training at the fort. It’s quite lovely, seafoam green, linen, pleated, a few minor stains that barely show up, well made and only $3. Whee! And it goes so perfectly with several of my other garments. I just had to do a bit of fixing, but that was fine, since I actually like handsewing anyway.
So, yeah, exciting.
7- Cave ides Marti!
I bummed around waiting for MB to come back on but it didn’t, then I went sledding and had the upper layer of my skin frostbitten off. It was really itchy because it pretty much froze then became like a sunburn and my left eye is swollen from scratching it so much. Then I tried putting all kinds of lotion and moisturizers on it, but since the skin was all red and raw it just burned.
The swelling on my eye is going down now so that’s good. And my skin isn’t quite as itchy.
4~ Ow, that sounds pretty uncomfortable. I’ve never had frostbite, eep. I’m glad you’re okay, though!
25- oh, that’s where mine went. No problem, I understand! they mainly consisted of more condolences for Beavo, excitement over acquiring Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet and agreement with Alice on the point of not having a long winded name.
16- Prarie Home Companion, as in the radio show which just made a jokes edition?
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted from my mom’s computer. Apparently, the last time I posted was on the Alter Ego thread, because when I got on here my alter ego was still memorized in the name box. Now I have to go hope that I didn’t post anything revealing on other threads under my alter ego.
A lot of my comments got eaten by the bunnies.
Robert-I’m sorry that the new software didn’t work. *choklit*
I have some ideas for new things to try, but I was busy today and just wanted to get the blog up and running again. I’ll try again sometime this week and post a notice beforehand so people don’t get too weirded out.
*shakes fist at WordPress Gnomes*
*sends warm choklit-chip cookies to GAPA(s)*
45- That’s the only thing I’m mad about yesterday. I missed the joke show!
Every Year…
“The partially offsetting compensatory news is that we’ve stumbled across some new things that we think you like and plan to try them soon.”
What?
45- Yup. It’s a great show.
I slept over at a friends house. Æ) I didn’t even notice that the blog was in the hospital, so to speak.
46- How do you weird out a MuseBlogger? It’s like trying to drown a fish.
true, i didn’t notice the blog was out i haven’t checked it for two days
I spent every five minutes opening it. It was kind of sad.
52- Put them in a “normal” setting. Sort of like drowning a fish in air.
I think the devil’s sexy.
[how’s that?]
42- I think the correct form is:
Cavete Idibus Martii!
56- That just didn’t make any sense. And it was a bit weird, yeah.
55- True. School weirds me out, but hot pink bunnies? Creepy, but not weird.
I never noticed! *feels ashamed* I was doing math homework — Cramer’s Rule. By the way, who is Cramer?
Gabriel Cramer, an 18th-century Swiss mathematician. You can find out more about him in Wikipedia (http: // en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Gabriel_Cramer). Cramer’s rule is there, too (/Cramer’s_rule). Apparently another mathematician, Colin Maclaurin, discovered it long before Cramer did.
God, Robert, you’re like an encyclopedia.
That may be true in some cases. This time, however, I just looked him up on/in/at Wikipedia.
63- ON Wikipedia.org, IN Wikipedia encyclopedia, AT Wikipedia headquarters. Right?
When do we get the recent comments bar back? I miss it.
65- they say on the HG2MB:
Q. Why does it take so long?
A. To teach you patience, Grasshopper.
This is when that comes into play.
We skimmed Cramer’s Rule, because my math teacher absolutely hated it. “There’s a much easier way to do everything he says,” is what my math teacher said. Since it was in the curriculum she had to cover it, but it only took about 5 minutes.
I now wish I had your math teacher.
60 – Wow.
67 – Really? There is an easier way, and even our teacher said, “I never really used Cramer’s Rule in the real world, so I don’t really know what the purpose is.”
Isn’t that weird? It’s not that complicated, but very time-consuming.
What grade are you in, Purple Panda?
I think she’s in 9th. I may be wrong, though.
70- She’s in 10th, actually.
Close enough.
