I’m more upset Rosanne and Robert stopped writing the Q&A section. It seems the Muse team is undergoing lots of changes.

I’ll really miss the math pages. It was often about something so common, and yet those pages looked at them in a completely different way.

I also don’t mind much about Rosanne and Robert not doing the Q&A anymore. It means they have more time to moderate/talk with us on the blog, and Andy and Ruth are good replacements.

That’s a lie. There’s no spoiler at all, because I haven’t even got it yet (reading the spoiler thread gives me a small taste of what it to come.) But I wanted to express my sadness at the way Muse is going and what the new editors are doing. Perhaps I’m just resistant to change. But I like Muse the old way, back before their tenth birthday.

I liked this issue, particularly the chocolate speed-of-light experiment which I finally figured out the science of after about a half hour. And the global warming article was flamambablous, really effective in my view (although, then again, I didn’t need any convincing as I’m already a pretty vehement believer). I looked up the octopus squeezing through a one-inch hole film on youtube and was disturbed and amused. What else. Uh. Long pause. Write more on it later.

Very interesting article about the octopi. I agree – seems intelligence must be measured not in brain size or complexity, as the widespread neurons would present a problem from that viewpoint.

There was a mistake in one of the facts on Bo’s Page. I don’t know what it was about, but on the 2nd page, top left, the last sentence is missing an essential comma. It makes absolutely no sense without it.

Hmm. Dear Muse Reader wasn’t terribly funny, ’cause I couldn’t read the handwriting, but it definitely had the splendid old format.
The octopus article was cool. I like octapi (the word and the creature).
The flying article wasn’t as good, but I liked it anyway.
The global warming article pretty much just said what I already knew, and the tip about not eating meat made me mad. Yeah, it takes a lot to transport and produce meat, but if NOT eating meat cuts out half your local diet, then it takes less to actually eat it. *pant pant* Everyone says vegetarianism is better. It isn’t necessarily.
Measuring chocolate with the speed of light was good, and it had the old Muse humor that I love.
The Q&A answered a question by someone named Alice!
No math page made me sad. A little less Muse humor.
