  1. Yay! Chess! This will be fun! Keyword “will”. I know how to play, but I don’t know how to start a game or make moves on this thread. Could someone explain, please?

  2. Sure! The board is numbered and lettered, as you can see (under the boards) P is pawn, K is king, N is knight, etc. So if you want to move…say, a pawn to square c5, you post Pc5.
I hope that wasn’t terribly confusing or too vague.

  3. (1, 2) For pawns you don’t include the letter. In ZL’s example, “c5” is sufficient. Take a look at one of the previous threads to get the idea. The Chess Lesson might be a good starting point, because Robert and Purple Panda know their notation.

If you want to play, just ask. GAPAs have to set up the games and enter the moves on the board.

  4. I will try to play someone, but I did have some technicallities on the last thread. (My computer wouldn’t show me the board. ) But maybe it will work this time.

I am an average player, not great, but sufficient. Anyone game?

  7. sorry about the double post:

    42) LadyGaladriel is SO MUCH better than “ElvenQueen2368”
if you really want to change, what about “Lothloria” 8)

  8. 50-I’m so sorry!! I thought you never replied to my post!!! I can’t see the board, so I’ll move and maybe then I’ll see it. Sorry!

  9. I can see the board, so it’s Logogeo’s turn to move. Where is he/she? (sorry, I don’t know you very well) I haven’t seen him.her on the blog lately.

  10. 89-I know. I don’t get what you were asking in post 86…

Darn. I thought the queen piece was the king piece, otherwise I would have moved my knight.

    bishop h3

  11. Eh? I’m confused. On my chess board with RoseQuartz, the last move is d5 by her, but she does not appear to have posted that on this thread? Am I mistaken? :?

  12. 138- Ahh.

    Board 4: 6. Bxd5

I’ve been feeling reckless, chess-wise, lately.
Which may somewhat attribute to the 3 games I lost over the past two weeks, versus the one game I won. Oh, the shame.

  13. Sorry about that…a little trip. Went to New York to see my grandfather in the hospital, went up to Boston to see my grandmother, went to Eng. for one night, then my grandfather died. Right now I’m at home in Indiana while my dad is sitting the rest of shi’vah in Ft. Lee.

  14. If I’m not mistaken, I do believe Rosequartz’s move hasn’t been put on our board yet. :P

    In any case,

    1. Yes, it’s your turn on board 3. You can always tell by the move numbers on the side: white is first, then black.

  18. I’d like to play, if there’s a availably partner. Anyone? Anyone not that good, since I’m not? Or anyone really good, so they can cream me quickly. Whichever.

  19. 198- Sure. I’d be an honor to play with someone who is also bad, which may result in a long-drawn out game. New board, Cello-Playing Mathematician Vs. Errata?

  20. I’d like to play someone, since it looks like my old game died. I’m not that great…so…..yeah.

  21. (209) Thanks, Enceladus! Your turn to move.

(208.1) CPM: Refresh your browser, clear your cache, or restart your computer. You should then see the board, unless you have some woefully incompatible browser that we haven’t heard of yet.
