  1. Good:
I got an A+ on my advanced english test !

    Bad:
We had to spend our free hour in a spare classroom instead of in the computer room, so I didn’t have my english homework.

    Ugly:
I had my french quarterly and none of the kids in my class knew what a “adjectif verbal” was, since the teacher hadn’t taught us what it is.

  2. Good:

I’m going to “treat” myself to McDonalds after my next class.

My peer reviews on my English paper (rough draft) analyzing a celebrity website (JKR) and analysis of celeb responsibility in general implied that it wasn’t as crappy as I feared.

And the one guy (his paper was on Bill Nye) had some helpful comments, and judging from his paper, which I thought was well done…….that is good.

    Bad:

My other peer reviewer’s handwriting is atrocious. I was barely able to translate the blasted thing.

Also, judging from his paper…..he has no leg to stand on when offering critiques, so his review–not so helpful.

I got 6 1/2 hours of sleep max last night, not getting to bed until 12:15, as I had to finish my English rough draft.

My bioethics teacher suggested we watch the “documentary” spliced from stolen tapes that ALF made of Gennarelli’s animal experiments on monkeys. “Unnecessary fuss” I believe is what it’s called. Very gruesome, based upon the description.

And my group presents on the topic of animal testing right after spring break. Great fun, that.

  3. Why, so it is. I’ve had a nice enough day. I went to the bakery and then walked home while reading Pickwick Papers. I’m think I was nearly killed at least once, but I’m still alive, so it must be my lucky day! ;)

  4. Terribly. I cannot understand Algebra 1 at all.
I’m now hungry and tired from wasting energy sobbing over homework.
I also need a new swimsuit.
And new bras, but that means going in WalMart (yuck) and getting dragged over the coals for complaining just at the last minute added to the sheer horror of going shopping anywhere other than a bookstore.

*dies* Or not. If only it were that easy. *wistful sigh*

  6. 9- I feel your pain. I can’t understand Algebra either.

:D All As on my “Progress Report”. Got Bingo twice in Spanish class. Was not half-asleep all morning.

:( All the choklit eclair pies were gone by the time I got to choose my pie in math class today. (We were celebrating Pi Day.) My science teacher didn’t finish correcting our class’ tests, so I won’t know what I got ALL WEEKEND. But of course she finished all of the other classes tests.

  8. Absolutely Amazing: State’s tomorrow!

Good: I got an A on my Government test!

    Excellent: Almost zero homework!

    Lovely: No math next week!

Bad: I’m being accused of a theft I didn’t commit.

I’m having pretty good luck so far. For me, Friday the 13th is a holiday that I celebrate with homemade chunky chocolate fondue.

  10. 5-Thanks Luna! My brother goes there and the faculty are great, and it’s a really accepting school. It was the only one I applied for, so if I didn’t get in, I would be screwed :-) because I’d have to go to the public school, which isn’t that good.
Go stock market! Up up up up up!

  11. Good: Early release day at school!
The kids I teach at taekwondo were good.
    Not a lot of homework.
Flying tomorrow!(If the weather holds up)
    Andy is back!

    Bad: Headache.
School passed the stupid new dress code (see random thread)
The schedule for the school year next year is stupid.
    School is stupid.
    STUPID BOARD OF EDUCATION!!!!!!!

Funny: My science teacher said that the “Board of Education” is a lie because being on the Board does not require the people to show evidence of an Education.

  15. 16 – Ehh, not a theft, per se. Well, not a theft at all.

    Long Story:
My friend told me his locker combination so that I could get something from it. Several days later, a ceramic duck appeared in his locker. So I either put it there (lies), or I told someone his locker combination (more lies!). Our police liaison is checking out the videotapes. I’ve claimed innocence, but since I was told the combination, I’m the prime suspect. This makes me sad, because I’ve been friends with this guy for a long time. I doubt he really thinks I did it, but he’s worried sick that someone knows his combination.

  16. 25- OK, so there’s a ceramic duck in his locker. How is that cause for videotapes? That’s entertaining, is all. If I were him, I’d want to find out, but it would raise my esteem of the person, not lower it.

Whoa, my family just bought a box of Thin Mints. IT’S A GIRL SCOUT RAMPAGE!!! *calms down* Apparently they’ve renamed a bunch of the cookies since I was a Girl Scout (about three years ago). Samoas (my favorites) are now Caramel Delights, All Abouts are now Thanks-A-Lots, and Double Dutches have disappeared.

  25. 33: I loves Double Dutches. Ahem. I am a Girl Scout of Orange County. Let me explain to you about GS cookies:

GSUSA has two bakers they can get their cookies from: little Brownie or ABC. The Orange County council has switched from LB to ABC. These are the big five that always stick around. First if ABC, second is LB:

    Thin Mints; Thin Mints
    Carmel deLites; Samoas
    Shortbreads; Trefoils
    Peanut Butter Patties; Tagalongs
    Peanut Butter Sandwiches; Do-Si-Dos

There is also another cookie that is rather iffy. Thanks-A-Lots; All Abouts.

In my opinion, Little Brownie cookies are much better. ABC Thin Mints are too hard. *crunch*

  28. 38– Girl Scouts are, um, girls who do stuff to make the world a better place. It’s fun. (I should know, I am a Girl Scout.) We also sell cookies. The cookies taste good except for the Shortbread ones, which taste like chalk. I sold 200 boxes of cookies this year!

Girl scouts > Boy scouts. girl scouts let all girls join, but the BSA doesn’t let gays and atheists join.
    Yes, I’m a boy scouts.

  32. 47–That’s incredibly discriminatory. I am now very, very happy that I didn’t buy any popcorn off the scouts who were trying to sell their popcorn here on campus last semester……I would not want to give money to such a prejudiced institution.

No offense meant to you TMFA, it’s not your fault that the BSA has issues…..

    People make me mad.

At least I don’t have to give up girl scout cookies….

  34. According to the Scout Law, a Boy Scout is supposed to be “trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

An online fact sheet explains “reverent” as follows:

A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others.

  36. Well, that explains the atheist part (although I still think it’s stupid), but I don’t see how that precludes a gay individual if he is religious.

  38. The scout oath says you have to be morally straight. and so the mormons (who basically control national) said that gays can’t be morally straight. strangly, the handbook says the following: you should respect and defend the rights of all people.
If boy scout let every boy join, I would be willing to donate. I like the program, but not the policy.

    # eaten a girl scout cookie
    # bought something from the boy scouts
    # every held through a lent vow/thingy*

    58) I can’t agree more…

I never really bothered with lent, even when I was in a catholic school. Actually, the reason I’m not catholic anymore (not really) is because I went to that school. It was tradition to give up candy and/or video games for lent. I missed the point, as usual. Sample dialogue:

    Me: *unwraps candy bar*
Annoying kid who I hated: “Hey, didn’t you give up candy for lent ? You’re supposed to do that.”
Me: “Why should god care if I eat a candy bar ? I paid for it.”
AK: “But everyone else is giving up candy for lent.”
Me: “That means I don’t have to share with anyone ? Cool, I love lent !”

  41. 66: CAPITALIZE! CAPITALIZE!!! *waves arms furiously in the air*

Sorry, Lady B. Always get a little touchy when people don’t capitalize that or say, “minty thins.” (oh lord. Half of people say that. *twitch* )

    Pie 0

  42. (67) Sorry, Zinc, I was using the term descriptively (hence the “the”), not as the brand name, which is why I didn’t capitalize. Of course, I’m willing to admit the distinction exists only in my own mind.

And I wouldn’t dream of saying “minty thins.” My mom was once cookie chairman, after all, and our garage was full of cookies.

  43. Wait you guys are so confusing. Samoas sound normal, but caramel de lits is just horror to the French, and sounds way to corny, besides the rude thanks a lots. Cant girl scouts not have perfect and cheesy stuck up names for even their wonderful cookies. Is that to much to ask for! Its just sickening. I went to France and when i mentioned this to a friend their she nearly fake fainted. Anyway how can someone faint?

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  44. 70 – I think you faint when not enough air goes to your brain or something like that. You fall over and start breathing again. (Confirmation? I’m probably completely wrong here.)

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  45. 71 – I think you’re part right . . . I think it’s when the shock makes less oxygen get up to your brain for a moment, then it goes into shock, going unconsious, or something like that. Or not. Lady B? Help?!?!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  46. Omg, a administrater answered my question. But how can someone be totally fine one moment and after bad news in one second fainting. Or are they fainting? Adiminister thank you so much for the feedback, and answering that qeustion. Wow i still cant beilieve it!

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  47. Fainting is caused by lack of blood flow to the brain. Which would result in anoxia (lack of oxygen), so, yes, not enough oxygen being supplied to the brain.

As far as the girlscout cookie thing, the cookies here are the regular ones. That is, they’re not changed to the other brand that Zinc mentioned. Mom bought some recently, and downstairs on the counter are the regular Samoas, as well as thin mints and tagalongs……yummy.

    Pie 0

  48. SFTDP.

74–I’m not an expert, but my guess would be that, based on the reasons for the lack of oxygen Lady Bunniful mentioned, it’s probably due to a drop in blood pressure. When someone receives bad news, they can go into shock, a “symptom” of which I’m pretty sure is decreased blood pressure. Thus, it can cause them to faint. Or perhaps they hyperventilate, which I believe would also decrease their oxygen supply.

  49. 70- Random story: My grandma has a southern accent because she’s from Alabama, so my sister said something about samoas and she got all confused because that’s how she pronounces s’mores. Told you it was random.
