Egad! It’s nearly April. Well, I don’t have my issue yet, but I, unfortunately, can never pass up the opportunity for a first post. Does anyone have it? Could en please post a summary or review? Do any of the GAPAs know what it’s about? Would one of them care to give us a preview?

    SPOILER SPOILER MUSE SPOILER.
    Huzzah! A new issue!
First Page: Oh. My. Goodness. That is the most hilarious thing I have read in a long while. However, it also alarms me; are the editors trying to restart the Warres? It seems so.
Contents: This page still seems disorganized and clashing to me, but that’s just my opinion. The editors’ column wasn’t great this time.
Bo’s Page: I got the false fact, but they were much more difficult this time. Good.
Q&A: What the…? They moved it! Both mail pages are in the back now. They listened to me (maybe) and ignored other people (maybe)? Egad. Well, I think I like it this way better, but other people are sure to have different opinions.
Koko & Co.: Hm. The history of the Muses takes another strange twist…
Finding Tiktaalik: Good article, but I still dislike the first-person narrative viewpoint. It seems to informal to me.
The Invisible Everyday World: Again, I dislike the format, but a somewhat interesting article. They should’ve saved that one Last Page till this issue.
Muserology: Tales from the Physics Princess: Eh. A bit lacking, in all honesty. Didn’t grab me.
Cracking the Desire Code: Could’ve been great, but, again, it didn’t grab me. I suppose I would’ve liked more analysis and less examples.
Gut Math: I can’t help think of whatever issue had the articles on counting in relation to babies and animals. A pretty good article. Side note: I like the sidebars actually on the side, not the top or bottom.
Muse Mail: Two pages, side-by-side, right before the Contest. I like it this way better, but I’m sure other people will have complaints. The letters themselves seemed somehow immature, but not as much as other letters in recent times. I remember a letter some unknown time ago that complained about the normal format of letters to Muse, e.g., excessive praise, foreign language greetings, odd ways of telling age, etc. It seems that this batch shows each and every one of those things. Annoying.
Contest: Never liked the Contest, personally. And the one for next issue? Design a new amphibian? Rather uninspiring, no offense meant to anyone.
Last Page: Disorganized, a tad sloppy-looking, and by no means the most interesting thing I’ve ever seen.

And there we are. The issue seemed to decline as it went on, unfortunately. After reading the First Page, I was psyched up for what I thought to be my favourite issue in months, but, alas, it just didn’t hold itself together well. I mean to offend in no way anyone who put this issue together, for I recognize that each staff member puts a great amount of work into Muse, but I can do nothing but voice my true opinion. The First Page is spectacular; NaK, I love you, and I agree: cats are quite obviously better than dogs. Chao!

Thanks, Purple Panda. I also answered one in the March issue. It’s fun to be part of Muse itself at last.

    Spoiler.

Rebecca (8): Cool! I’ll have to go find it. I don’t think I read that one yet…it’s probably somewhere in THF’s room.

After I finished reading the answer, I saw the “–Rebecca,” and didn’t think anything of it. But then, as I was looking up at the top of the page, it said “Robert Coontz and Rebecca Lasley,” and I thought–hey! That’s not Rosanne, that’s Rebecca!” It was very exciting.

[I appreciate that. I was excited, too! –Rebecca]

10- Really?! You thought they’d stop printing facts or you thought they’d cease to exist?
11- Yes. I noticed that connection.

…….sea kittens……..*shakes head*…….Maybe they’re trying to take over the world……….like us……….honestly. Sea kittens should be baby sea lions. Not fish.

    Spoiler.

Finally, I got to sit down and read a Muse within a few days of it arriving. Anyways, I thought it was pretty good. I liked the Gut Math article. I wonder what would happen if the ran the yellow and blue dots experiment again with a control group of 14-year-olds and a group of 14-year-old mathletes.

The issue was good but not as good as the last one. My favorite article was Cracking the Desire Code, but, as Piggy said, there were a lot of examples and not really enough analyzation.

14–My mother now thinks PETA is insane because of the “sea kitten” thing. I thought that one was the fake one because it was so outrageous.

    SPOILER APRIL MUSE SPOILER.

First Page: I hope this is a joke … Picky correction: “cats are better than dogs” is an opinion, not a fact. Although I agree with it. =^o.o^=
Bo’s Page: I thought for sure that the “sea kittens” one was false, but apparently not. PETA is insane. *shakes head sadly* I like it when it’s hard to guess the false fact.
Q and A: What’s it doing in the front of the magazine? I think I liked it better in the back. Oh well. Also, how come there’s only one question? Will the number of questions change depending on how long the answers are?
Kokopelli And Company: Koko throwing rocks would be a nightmare. Random thought: Where does he get the pie? He clearly doesn’t have one in all the panels preceding the throw.
Finding Tiktaalik: Cool. *wants to be paleontologist*
The Invisible Everyday World: Meh. I just kind of skimmed this. It wasn’t very interesting.
Tales From The Physics Princess: Liked the cartoons – very explanatory. Didn’t really like the story. Did she get detention or not?
Cracking The Desire Code: I liked this. I’ve seen people wearing those rubber bracelets and wondered why the cake anyone would want one. Also, by a staggering coincidence, I got an iPod today. *is inspired to make iPod pictures of all Muses*
Gut Math: Good. But why didn’t they have the answers to the dot questions?
Muse Mail: Yay, not split up! I agree with Piggy about the letters seeming immature, though. At least there was nothing about the r** l******.
Contest: Kind of disappointing. I did like the “world without language” one, though. Don’t really like the new contest.
Last Page: Not really interesting. I would have preferred it in article format.
