We’ve added something new to your comment forms: a “preview” button that lets you see in advance approximately what the comment will look like. If you don’t like it, don’t post it — just change it and preview it again.
The button should help you avoid typos, avatar slip-ups on the Alter Ego thread, and other bloggish “oops!” moments. Let us know how you like it and if it causes any problems. Otherwise, enjoy!

Why not an edit button? Or perhaps make the preview mandatory, so that it will be impossible not to notice typos and such.

An edit button would be nice, except that allows us to go back in after moderation and change our posts, which could result in a big headache for the GAPAs.
Well I’m assuming people wouldn’t abuse the privilege… As in, use it once in a while when there’s a mistake. Don’t actually use it often to change the content of your post.

In answer to your question: It wouldn’t, because the GAPA have their reasons for not making us get accounts. If these problems were solved, who knows. But for now, I guess we’ll just have to deal.

Ha ha! I just clicked preview and only the parascope thingies showed up on the submarine.

yay! my italics worked. Usually something happens to ut and they don’t stop.
I think it’s especially handy for the AE thread, previewing it before posting to check on whether you got your false email, etc., correct. Of course, I should probably listen to my own advice.

The Preview Button is great. It messed me up on SSSS because it made it look like the smileys were on the same line. I’ve noticed the only time it deletes the break
