New Way to Play Chess on the Blog

We’ve found some software that lets you enter moves with your mouse, directly on the board. Just click on the piece you want to move, and then on the square to which you want to move it. Easy, no? Try it!

[Event “Test Game, Chad vs. Urania”]
[Site “MuseBlog”]

[White “Chad”]
[Black “Urania”]

[CBBBlackId “*”]
[Result "0-1"]

This board won’t save your moves for other people to see. (At least, the documentation says it won’t. We can’t tell.) To make it do that, you need a MuseBlog chessplayer’s account with a password. Then you could log in and play your opponent without having to post your moves for an Administrator to enter. We can make those accounts if there’s enough interest. Note that a valid email address is required.

What do you think? Comments, please:

    Three Two Things:
    1: FIRST POST! WOOT!
2: 1: The interface looks better.
3: 2: Neat! I made myself get a draw! XD (you did know the board could be clicked, right?)

  2. Isn’t it fun? I think you can erase your game by clearing your browser’s cache. Just refreshing the page doesn’t seem to do it.

Have you noticed that when you click on a piece, the board shows you all the possible places you can move it? The borders of the squares change color.

Cool! But it doesn’t stay there. :???: Plus it ends up with me laying by myself, which doesn’t work very well.

I will gladly sign up for a chess account. Please?

  5. (3) You can learn a lot by playing against yourself. Have you noticed that you can turn the board around?

    (4) Piggy: An account is no use unless you’re playing a game with an opponent who also has an account. If you and someone else want to start a game using this software, then I’ll create accounts for both of you.

I volunteer to be Piggy’s opponent! Not that I’m good, but I could probably lose fairly spectacularly.

I’ll volunteer to play a game with anyone who is interested; unless- do you have to be on at the same time? I assume you can still see the moves even when you refresh the page if you have an account.

  15. Patience, grasshoppers. Creating accounts takes a little time. We’re all at work right now and can’t do more than moderate posts for at least a few more hours.
