Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything
When I try to log on, it says something like ‘User name invalid.’ Do you know why?
Okay, now it works. Thanks. Just out of curiosity… how did I get this?
We create the accounts. The chess software requires it. (You can view games without an account, and can even make moves that only you will see. But you need an account to play online against another person.)
Cool…I wonder what your game will turn out to be like *is interested*
Okay, guys. Just… stop. And this is probably going to turn out as a long post, the kind I would usually skim, but if you’re not in a hurry, please try to read it all.
I don’t know how to play chess. Honestly, I don’t. It’s not like I’m saying ‘Oh, I’m really bad’ or something. I really don’t know how to play. I started out that game after desperately looking up ‘chess’ on Wikipedia. Before you start, please read on:
I had gotten a few issues of Muse when I came on here. And I’d heard people on the Chatterbox talking about it so I was like, why not give it a try? It was fun, and people welcomed me and everything, but it took me a while before I saw that ‘Recent Posts’ sidebar, and there were even more threads beyond that, you know? So I was coming into a lot of discussions late.
And when there was that ‘MuseBlog Top Ten’ thing, I rushed in to post without really reading the other posts, and I wrote that post about asking the GAPAs how many times I’d posted, and someone asked me if I’d read post 50, which was explaining how annoyed the GAPAs were of telling people how many times they’d posted and I was so embarrassed I said that I HAD read it and I was wondering if there was like, a quicker way or something. I was just embarrassed that I hadn’t read the whole thread before jumping in.
And the Kokonventions… as anyone on the Chatterbox will tell you, I’m paranoid. Really, really paranoid. And I made those posts about how I didn’t think it was safe, and I’m still not a hundred percent sure that it is, but I shouldn’t have made those posts, because if I was going on a kokon, it would make me feel weird to see that kind of post.
So I jumped into discussions late. I wrote things I shouldn’t have written. I’ve only been getting Muse a few months, maybe. When I made that comment on the other chess thread? I was just trying to get involved somehow. And this morning I saw in my email that I had a chess account on the MuseBlog and I thought that maybe I could learn up a little online or something and then get more involved without sounding stupid, but if I went any further I’d be lying.
These may seem like little things to you, but if you lived in my brain maybe it’d make more sense. So I want to say that I am sincerely sorry, and thank you if you read this long post.
to relieve the tension.
Kiga, it’s okay. You’re fine. Don’t worry. Find your way around at your own pace. There’s no rush. Be involved at your comfort level. No one here will hold that against you.
Meanwhile, as a practical matter, would you prefer not to have a chess account? We can certainly undo that and find another opponent for Bookworm.
Thanks. *sheepish smile* *takes deepest breath since clicking ‘Submit*
As for chess, honestly, I’m kind of interested in how to play, which is why I pretended at first and looked on Wikipedia. But from what I’ve gathered, chess isn’t the kind of thing you can just get off an article online, so sooner or later I’ll make a mistake. Maybe when, and if, I ever learn I can tell you and get another game. For now, though, it’s probably best if Bookworm has another partner. Sorry Bookworm. By the way, I like your name.
Hey, Kiga, I could play with you. I don’t know how to play chess either, but I’d like to, since the pieces show you where you can move.
That would be great. I’m learning how to play a little, and we could try that out. Could we do that?
I’ll be happy to set up a game. Ducky, do you have an account? I don’t see one. And Kiga, have you dropped the “_827” from your name?
Not yet, I’ll do it tomorrow.
Yes.
So, can I use the chess account from last time, or did you cancel that one?
I’ve goten an account, but when I try to log in it says “ERROR: Your account has to be confirmed by an administrator before you can login”
When I try to login in, it says ‘ERROR: User name invalid.’
