Happy Moon Day!

It has been 42 years since the Apollo 11 lander touched down on the moon. Most MBers seem to agree that that was a Good Thing, and the moon hasn’t objected, so — as in past years — here’s a thread to mark the occasion.

    As I said last year:

Today we celebrate the anniversary of our first reach beyond our planetary cradle. And the work of so many, in so many small ways, that all added up to One Giant Leap.

Let all Kokonspirators forever remember Project Apollo as an example of how disparate people, working as a team, and united by a common, audacious dream, can change history in a Mostly Harmless fashion.

    “We choose Mostly Harmless-

    We choose Mostly Harmless-

We choose Mostly Harmless for the rest of our lives and to do every related thing not because they are easy- but because they are hard!

Because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills!

Because that challenge is one that we’re willing to accept, one that we are unwilling to postpone, and one that we intend to win!”

I recently read a book which was about what could happen if an asteroid collided with the moon and knocked it much closer to the Earth. It’s called “Life As We Knew It”, if anyone’s interested.

    Happy late Moon Day!

Yay 42! I just visited the Kennedy Museum. The moon program stuff is, sadly, incredibly lame.
