  1. Today I shall wear my Muse Hoodie, as said on the other thread…

This will get some attention, I hope!

  2. I think my e-mail worked, because my sister is going to send it to the e-mail list for her Muserly-seeming summer camp.

I also have a strange idea that requires everybody’s help to work. Every year, Merriam-Webster crowns a word word of the year. The nominees for word of the year are decided by the most looked up words on their website in their normal or open dictionary (a dictionary where anyone can add a word). I noticed that flamablamablous was in the open dictionary. If we all look up flamablamablous a lot this year, it could become the 2008 word of the year, which would result in a lot of people finding out about Muse.

  3. I would like to buy a Muse-ish clothing item, but I’m broke. Okay, not really. I actually have a lot of money. I’m too much like a dragon; I hoard my money. :D
where would you go to buy a Muse-ish clothing item anyways?

  4. As I suggested on the previous thread, we should build a rocket, fly to the moon, and draw a big picture of Koko in the moon dust. When the Japanese probe that’s photographing the moon now sends back a picture of it, it will become a famous picture!

So, operations Craaw, Seahawk, and Bookworm are still alive?

  7. 8- the kokonspiracy: n. (KO Kon Spir acy)
the plan for world domination, al la museblog. it is code named “mostly harmless” due to the fact that is what earth is called in HG2TG. it is so secret, we can have MH shirts!

  8. Oh dear, we seem to have so many new recruits in our plan MH. We should start a boot camp to inform them of our goals.
Everyone at the boot camp will be required to read HG2G and Koko will be the drill sargeant.
There will be a brainwas…assimilation stage where all recruits are taught the importance of the Kokonspiracy and plan Mostly Harmless.
Of course if any recruit attempts to escape the assimilation area, the HPBs will deal with them.

I am going to try to get some Musery stuff soon. I made do with printouts of HPBs on my binders but now that I have my Christmas money I can get the real stuff.

  9. 12 – Hey, if these people are true musers, they won’t need brainwashing. Besides, I am fundamentally against brainwashing due to the fact that I value my mind and individuality.
But a boot/training camp is a good idea. I dibs training the government infiltration unit!

By now, I must have memorized the definition of flamablamablous from looking it up so often. However, I need everyone else to go look it up to make this plan work.

To make it easier for everybody to find the entry, how about somebody posts the link here? Since it would be linking to a known-to-be-respectable website, I would think that it would be okay. (GAPAs, correct me if I’m wrong)

    Operation Kokopelli T-Shirt

Does anybody remember ruth? (the random orson scott card girl). Well if you don’t, we randomly started talking about orson scott card on the walk home from school and that’s how i met her. she’s a freshman, but a cool one :D Anyway, i was wearing my kokopelli t-shirt yesterday, and she saw it. Reaction follows…

    Ruth: OMG Muse!
Me (shocked that somebody has finally recognized it): You read muse!?
    Ruth: I used to
Me: Sweet! *high fives* Have you been on the blog?
    Ruth: No
    Me: You should
(At which point tater begins the discussion of xkcd shirts, which we enthusiastically join in, because everybody loves them)

Another shirt-related (though not mostly harmless-related) piece of information is that hewitt got the heavy metal thinkgeek shirt! we were all very jealous. bill and i found that ages ago and wanted to send it to feathers, but we didn’t :D

I was showing mu mom the campaign buttons, and trying to get her to buy me one, and then she says “I want one too! canøt we get a ten pack?” So we order the ten pack, and I am really happy, and she is still looking at the computer. Then she says, “they have hoodies too. You need a new hoodie. Which one do you want?” Then she ends up getting me two FEAR ME buttons, and a small one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my mom!

  26. Here is a list of operations.

What if we send short e-mails to muse with messages like “Kokonspiracy is real, You realize?”???? (Operation Propaganda)

    1) Go into library.
    2) Find book about a topic that has been featured in Muse.
    3) Place leaflet into book.
    4) Nonchalantly walk away.
I think this would work, as I have found other people’s bookmarks and such inside of library books.
    We shall call it…
    Opertation Bookworm

If, for Operation Crraw, we make kites and tie around forty rolled up notes about muse with gift bonds on and a homemade gift tag on it that says OPEN ME on to the kite and the kites tail VERY LOOSELY, when we fly the kite, the wind should blow the notes away….. and then we let go of the string of the kite, and it goes even farther……

“operation nightcrane. Large origami paper cranes made out of newspapers (for even larger: tape sheets together) with “Please open.” written in clear print on the outside, then with the letter about Muse folded/stashed inside of it might be better to chuck off buildings, and less likely to be mistaken for garbage

“operation seahawk”: People! Have you read the message in a bottle article???????? I don’t know about you guys, but I am five minutes away from the ocean…. The North Sea, that is…..
Am I smart, or am I smart????

Dear Reader: Are you an intelligent young person? (Above the age of ten and under eighteen?) If not, please give this bottle to a young and intelligent person. I would like to tell you about an extraordinary magazine for people like you or me. It’s called Muse. And, surprisingly, it’s not like any other magazine out there in the world. People subscribe to Muse from all over the world to learn about art, science, nature, space, cultures, the whole world, books (from manga to Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter), origami, black holes, ancient Egyptian mummies, and pie throwing.
I am not an advertiser. I’m a fifteen year old girl living in Denmark and I’ve been getting Muse for six years. There’s a great online community of Musers, and once you have a subscription, a whole new world opens up. If you are not sure about getting a subscription, you can buy a used copy of a past magazine through Ebay.com or other used things sites. Or, if you live in the US, there’ll be a copy at a local library. Take a chance. Open your eyes and your mind. http://www.cricketmag.com/ProductDetail.asp?pid=12 https://musefanpage.com/

Some of the meteorites were knocked off the moon by asteroid impacts, and a few appear to have come from Mars. After passing through Earth’s atmosphere, however, the lunar meteorites look different from the rocks that the Apollo astronauts shoveled off the moon’s surface and brought back with them.

What style should it be written in? I would say a deathly serious one….
the introduction should have a short explanation of what we are, the body a reasons of why and how, the conclusion should be recruiting…

  37. Deep within the cyberspace, in a universe known only to the modern Muser, a conspiracy is afoot. Its mission: world domination.
In the troubled times that we live in, a group of MuseBloggers have formed a group of conspirators and sworn nonsecrecy to the common cause. in fact, the mission is so nonsecret that the group constantly tries to get attention.
The reader at this point may ask, “Why is world domination preferable?”

  42. WE SHOULD SO WRITE AN ARTICLE FOR MUSE.

I mean, we’re all good writers…and knowing us, we’d edit it about 500 times. The only problem I see is that it’s not really Muse’s genre, since it’s not really science (yet). Maybe we could write like a one or two page article on MuseBlog and we could include the Kokonspiracy in that. I think an article on what we really do here would be really neat, since most readers who aren’t on here probably think we just talk about the magazine all day, and it’s really so much more.

They filled the ad pages with more Muse stuff, and, in a sense, actually made the magazine larger. So here’s all the snippets of articles combined to make a very long introduction and beginning to a body. At this point we really need to just write, and we’ll edit and cut it later.

Here’s a new snippet continuing from the above snippets/article:

If you haven’t, don’t be worried as other people have.
We do use the phrase “world domination” jestingly. What we want is an enlightened society. A society of no wars, no cultural problems such as racism or sexism, and no idiotic politicians getting us into all sorts of trouble. A society where the enviroment, animals and people are respected.
It sounds like an extremely corny kids movie. A pipe dreams. We must remind ourselves that in twenty, thrirty or fourty we will be the politicians, the lawyers, the doctors, the juries, the judges, the grocer at the grocery store. We will be in the position of power.

    Pie 0

In fact, the MuseBloggers are extremely ambitious. They’re ambitions extend to everything up to and including taking over the world.
The reader at this point may ask, “Why is world domination preferable?”
We MuseBloggers have found the current world leaders incapable of doing their job. Therefore, we have started a plot called The Kokonspiracy, codenamed Mostly Harmless, which calls for world domination, Kokopelli for present, and pies in every face. Already, we have begun carrying out the first stage of our plan: Letting people know we exist. Have you found leaflets with mentions of Muse in your library books lately? Or found washed up bottles on the beach containing messages about Muse? Or seen any other odd things that have to do with Muse?

  86. What do you want us to do? type it all over again and edit it in Word or Publisher? come on, it’s fine as it is. why can’t we just get on with it? Okay, okay, it needs to be official in all, but we’re trying to take over the world here. So long as there is no grammar or spelling mistakes it should pass the test. Besides once we’ve got it written then what do we do with it? isn’t it kind of large to fit in a convenient hiding place? Yeah–I think its COMPLETELY FINE as it is, and anyone who reads it will be impressed and maybe–just maybe–join the Kokonspiracy or become a muser.
Therefore, if we get it out there as soon as possible then it will hit with a bang and get people interested, what we need is a huge number of MBers, then we will have a much better chance. We need to establish a following that makes people think, which is, of course, what Muse is about.
We also should get organized, 30 or so Musers coming up with ideas is all fine, but we need to really get everything set
up in perfect order: some MBers should have specific parts in
moving the Kokonpiracy along. By the way, once we have ourselves known, what do we do? I hope everyone is committed enough to MB to read all this.

Signing a contract/saying an oath is a good idea.I’ll whip one up right away.

Oath Giver: In the printing of your name below, you vow to help the Kokonspiracy in all ways deemed possible, protect all it stands for, check this thread every time you come on MuseBlog, help other agents, fulfill missions assigned to you, and follow orders as long as you can conscientously agree?

    Newb: I most solemnly vow.

Oath Giver: You also vow never to renounce the Kokonspiracy for fear of banishment from this thread, nor to leak classified information to an outsider, nor to harm the Kokonspiracy in anyway for fear of being charged with high treason?

    Newb: I most solemnly vow.

Oath Giver: You vow to protect the enviroment, use commen sense, and never start any wars what so ever in whatever position you will recieve when you become of age?

    Newb: I most solemnly vow.

Then arise as a member of the Kokonspiracy, place your name under this binding contract, and adopt your new codename. Forever, La Vida Koko! Vive le Revolution!

So, how this would work: An elder member (someone who has been a part of the kokonspiracy for at least two months) and the Newbie get on at the same time and in turn post a paragraph. So the Elder member would play the part of the Oath Giver and the Newb the newb. At the end the newb copies and pastes the whole dialog into a post and types her/his name at the bottom.

    Now back to world domination…

    Here’s the article again.

Deep within the cyberspace, in a universe known only to the modern Muser, a conspiracy is afoot. Its mission: world domination. As you probably know, what sets Muse head and shoulders above most ordinary magazines on the rack is the unique culture that has come to be associated with it over its 10+ year existence. What you may not know is that the website musefanpage.com/blog is dedicated to sharing this culture, which it calls ‘La Vida Koko’.”
You have probably seen various references to MuseBlog in the letterbox. Perhaps you thought this was a place where Muse readers discuss the magazine. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the MuseBloggers are extremely ambitious. They’re ambitions extend to everything up to and including taking over the world.
In the troubled times that we live in, a group of MuseBloggers have formed a group of conspirators and sworn nonsecrecy to the common cause. In fact, the mission is so nonsecret that the group constantly tries to get attention.
The reader at this point may ask, “Why is world domination preferable?”
Don’t be worried if you haven’t, because we can assure you that other people have.
We do use the phrase “world domination” jestingly. What we want is an enlightened society. A society of no wars, no cultural problems such as racism or sexism, and no idiotic politicians getting us into all sorts of trouble. A society where the environment, animals and people are respected.
It sounds like an extremely corny kid’s movie. Pipe dreams. We must remind ourselves that in twenty, thirty or forty years we will be the politicians, the lawyers, the doctors, the juries, the judges, and the grocer at the grocery store. We will be in the position of power.
What this society needs are more people who read Muse. We are not advertising, we are just trying to make the world a better place. If you want to help us make this happen, then visit our site at https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1149. We can change the world.

Some of you have taken the oath, others have not. It’s your choice. For those who have, you vowed to, along with other things, “to help the Kokonspiracy in all ways deemed possible, protect all it stands for, check this thread every time I come on MuseBlog, help other agents, fulfill missions assigned to me, and follow orders as long as I can conscientiously agree.”

  153. I feel I am a part of the Kokonspiracy…even though I’m not very active, I think I’m still a part of it. But I agree with Red-tailed HAWK about the whole “oath” thing.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  154. 290-Thanks Panda! I just feel it is a little much. And many parts are a bit confusing to me. (The oath appears in 167 for those of you who don’t remember it…) For example: Vixen did write the thing, and she is quite possibly our most active member, but somehow… I don’t know, before it seemed we were all equal, and worked together but didn’t control each other. It’s still mostly this way, but Vixen has sort of made the oath such that she has a bit more power. At least it seems so, maybe it isn’t.

She didn’t have to take the oath because she wrote it. In the oath, you have to vow to always follow orders and carry out your assigned missions unless it absolutely goes against your beliefs. This seems much too much. It never says who gets to have all of the power and hand out these orders, and because Vixen didn’t take the oath, I’m just wondering if she does.

So all I’m saying is, maybe we want to go back to the good ol’ days, when we all helped each other and nobody had more power than others. Also, we weren’t locked into coming to this thread, so we came when we were really excited about it. That’s when you get the most done, and that’s when it is still fun. This shouldn’t seem like a job, it should be enjoyable and exciting, correct? :D

OK, three questions and points: First, what are we going to say so they don’t wonder why twelve people sent the exact same thing, second, you give the address to this page, which shall soon be gone and we’ll be on the next thread, and third, I think an article is more likely to be published. This letter is as long as an article, and will take up several letter’s worth of space, which they won’t be happy about. I think this should be discussed for a minute, especially if these are being sent out tomorrow!

Also, have we agreed upon this letter/article thing? Because if you do send it as from all of the Musebloggers, it isn’t right to do so without approval from everyone.

  162. 300- R-tH: Listen to me for a second! We have been planning this from post # 61. We have discusse dit. Written it. Planned it,. Edited it countless times. Decided to send it out. Chosen why we send it 12 times. Begun finding twelve people to send it. ETC.
301- Yes. You are a “major force” in the kokonspiracy, (which sounds a lot like what you were unfairly acusing me of being in post 291), but you haven’t been on this thread very much, which explains why you are confused.

And by the way, silence is consent.

  163. 274- One thing, there’s a typo. At one point it says “they’re” instead of “their”. Second, it sounds… I don’t know. I just don’t agree.

304- So? I don’t see your point. Or your arguement.

Vixen, please. I’m just saying, everybody on the blog is part of the kokonspiracy, not just really active people. So sending a letter from all of us, one that was discussed on a thread where very few people go, does not count as asking people. Silence is not consent, especially when many people don’t even know this thread is here. Hopefully there is some way to stop them from publishing the letter. Like if the editors really read the blog, they will read this post. If there’s going to be a letter, it’s not that one. I’ll write my own and apologize for the false one before I have them think that is the general opinion of people here. You are saying we all agree with what the letter says, and we don’t. I never thought this was actually going to change the entire world, or that it was going to solve all of those problems. That’s not what we’re doing, we’re having a bit of fun and getting a few people to listen to us along the way. Seriously, I am not involved in anything as serious as you have said, and we’re not here to do things that would get national attention and the police on our-and the GAPAs’- doorsteps. That’s how I feel about it.

  167. 307- I don’t think it’s serious enough to get the police on our doorsteps. I don’t even think it’ll cause any harm. If other people want to send it, that’s fine with me.

  170. 313- I’ll keep my honor and my pride. Don’t worry that I’ll upset the GAPAs.

If you’lllook at posts 280, 282, 284, 265, you’ll notice that I make anouncements to the fellow musebloggers about our need for assistance, exsistence, etc. Please don’t blame me for not letting people know about this thread.

This thread is “abandoned” because few people post on it. Maybe if you, a respected person on this blog, posted more, people would notice it more.

If you had objections to this letter, you could have objected. You didn’t. In fact, you agreed to it. In post 151 you commented, but didn’t mention the article blasting around your post. Silence is consent.

It rather hurts my feelings when you suggest that I have all the power and that implieing that I didn’t take the oath but made everyone else take it. I am not a power hungry person. I am ambitios, indeed. I am a “natural leader”, some say. I don’t find anything wrong with that. I never said that I wanted to be leader. I am not saying that I am a leader. All I say is that I post on a regular basis, except when I don’t have accsess to a computer.

Can we try to understand each other? I really don’t want us to be mad at each other.

    Which I think we are.

  171. All right, everyone, can we please take a few deep breaths and remain calm? First of all, there is no reason to be angry because one enthusiastic agent jumped the gun and sent in the letter ahead of schedule.

Secondly, there is no urgency. Nothing is going to happen quickly. The issue in which the letter would appear, IF it were accepted, is still months away. There is plenty of time to withdraw, correct typos, or anything else.

Furthermore, Alice is correct (comment 311). As Robert has pointed out on several occasions, the beauty of the Kokonspiracy is that no one outside of it is likely to take it seriously.

  172. Most importantly, please remember that all of you are proceeding from good intentions. Sometimes words don’t come across as intended, and it’s very easy for feelings to be hurt when others misunderstand our meanings. I know it seems like a lot to ask for even more patience and understanding at a time when many of us are already a little frayed from the ongoing technical difficulties, but please give each other the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry these two posts are kind of a chopped-up mess. I’m writing at work and have had a few interruptions.

Vixen, if you’re afraid I’m mad at you, you have nothing to worry about. Who I am mad at is the agent who sent it in without even your approval. Your send date was the 18th, several days from now.

What I’m saying is, the letter has been sent in too early, and people didn’t have time to approve it. If it would have been sent off on the 18th, I would have had time to post it on the random thread and have everybody see it. You did do a lot to get attention on this thread, but it should have bee put somewhere where everybody would definitely see it.

I had forgotten you had taken the oath. All I saw was you saying you didn’t have to take it because you made it. But still, who is giving the orders? I for one am not going to be bossed around by anybody, and I don’t plan to boss anyone else around either. That part of the oath really confuses me.

So there it is. I’m not angry with you, Vixen, really. You’re a perfectly nice person, but because this thread is old and forgotten you have, in your “natural leadership” led the thread. I think it’s time we get a new thread as soon as this mess is sorted out…

Lady b, I agree. People around here need to breathe more. It seems they stop breathing for a while and then hyperventilate in ranting posts. And I’m not talking about you, Vixen, by any means.

Now the hard part: Stopping them from printing the letter.

  176. (320) I sympathize with your mom — I’ve had bosses like that before. Now I’m director and sole paid staff of a small house museum, so there is seldom anyone looking over my shoulder. But I do get interrupted by phone calls and tourists, especially on Saturdays, making it all but impossible to get any other sort of work done, anyway.

  177. 319- They won’t print the letter. That’s why we were planning on mailing it twelve times, so that we would get attention.

All right. I wasn’t trying to give orders, and I’m sorry that it sounded that way. What I meant in the oath is that if the entire kokonspiracy gets going with a project, and “jobs” are assigned, it could get messed up if someone doesn’t do their part. Therefor we would have the oath to fall back on.

I think we can say that we are in each other’s good graces, and that it time to get a new thread. Turn over a new leaf. As a team. Right?

Hawk, I think that could possibly be very good friends, and I am certantly not mad at you. Thank you for your apology, which you knew along that I would accept. ;) I can’t stands being mad at anyone for very long.

    Gapas, a new thread, please?

  180. Red-tailed HAWK – Yes, I definitely agree. I liked it when we all worked together…this whole “asking permission” to not sign the oath seems very unbalanced, and while I don’t mind that some people don’t sign the oath, I think that everyone should be treated equally, etc. during missions and projects.

Why is it such a big deal that someone sent it ahead of schedule? I don’t think that’s a problem…they’re not going to all arrive at the same time, anyway, because some people liver farther away than others. Also, just because someone noticed a mistake in the letter and didn’t notice it before…that’s definitely not a reason to get mad at them. It’s a reason to thank them, is it not?

I’m not really sure what has gone on here, but I think everyone needs to just take a deep breath…it’s not the end of the world, yet! :D :D :D
