Perhaps a slight Chicago one, though. I don't know. I am good with accents though, especially British. Australian too, kind of irish but I'm still working on that.

I say Chicahgo, which is the accent a bit. People who don't live here say Chicawgo, I've noticed.

I say Chicahgo. Of course, I also say Bahstan (Boston).
I’m really bad at figuring out accents. There are a lot of really really bad Pittsburgh accents here, like saying “dahn tahn” for downtown, and other silly things like that. Another famous one is “yinz” for the plural you. ::sigh::
I say Chicahgo and Bohston, but it’s hard to put the way I say things into letters like that. I should learn IPA…
i say BA words (ex. bank and bangs) differently than everyone else, because my dads got a new zealand accent, and i have picked it up, so my cousins always make fun of me

okee. so i learned that i totaly don’t have a drawl. aw man. “Canadian drawl” sounds better than “Canadian accent”. Have you ever heard the Newfoundland acent? it’s kinda irish but totaly not. it’s interesting and slightly hard to listn to because you’re expecting an irish accent but then some sylables are british/other and it throws you off. but overal it’s pretty cool.
as for Chicago. i say Shi (like shitaki mushrooms) Caw (like the sound a crow makes) go.

To the unasked but much talked-about question of accents…i’ve been told that i slip back into my yooper accent when i’m really tired (i learned to talk there, so it’s pretty easy to do…). I absolutely deny ever saying “aboot” though. it’s more like “abote” anyway. I don’t think i have an accent, but everybody does, so i suppose mine would be a lower michigan/central ohio accent? idk, i say stuff like “prolly” and “dunno” but that seems more like a lazy-person accent than a regional accent.

It’s understandable. I have my own paranoia to live with, but none of it involves stalkers. A few years ago, I was afraid of the bubonic plague (laugh at me, why don’t you!), afraid of the dark, afraid of panthers. Now, I’m afraid of every alarm except the one on my clock, afraid of earthquakes, afraid of being late to school. 141) I love my school’s Chicken Pie, it’s pretty much the only good thing that they make. The schools really have ruined the school lunches though. For example, they decided that there must be no more sugar or salt anywhere, so they took all sugar out of their “sweet” tea. After that, no one bought it. Then, they tried to force people to buy it by taking away all of their cups so that they couldn’t drink water out of the water fountains. That still didn’t work, so now they are selling slushies that have even more sugar in them then the tea ever did. It’s kind of bogus if you ask me.

I eat meat because that was how I grew up. I ate meat when I was small, I eat it now, it tastes good, and it has vital nutrients. 209, 210- Interesting. I’m a lot like Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) of the X-Men.
The Atlantic Ocean near Newport. My mother took me down to a pier to “fish” with unbaited hooks. That must be earliest memory. I also seem to remember a butterfly mobile that my parents hung over my crib, but it seems unlikely.
My earliest memories come from when we lived in Monterey, California, but I have no idea of their sequence. A yard full of autumn leaves, the mountain skyline, snapdragons my mother grew. I also have a couple of vague impressions of my first trip to Disneyland, like little vignette images that sink into haze.
My first word was “kitty.”

Wow. Three questions in one day for me. New one: What was your first word?
Mine was “boo”. We have this blue rocking chair that me and my mom used to crawl around trying to catch eachother. I would (being a stupid one year old) hide behind it, hoping that she wouldn’t find me. Of course, she would. Sometimes she would creep up behind me, and shout “BOO!” and scare me into uncontrollable giggles. Once she sat down behind the chair because she thought I was gone, and I crept up behind her and did what I thought was appropriate. I scared her out of her wits, and said my first recorded word.
I have an image of this, but I’m not sure if it’s a memory. It might be from the stories that I have a slight twinge of memory.
“The Black House” we used to live in. (Which wasn’t black… only the gate was black, but I was four, so that was all I could see.) I remember a toy car my dad gave me. I loved it. My mom tried to introduce me to dolls, but I never really caught on.
I’ve been somewhat of a tomboy ever since.

I know! That “wellness policy” is so stupid! If they really cared more about students health then being cheap and saving money, they would stop serving that nasty, greasy pizza and frenchfries every day. That’s more unhealthy then having a few treats now and then. *I’ll stop rant now because I could on and ON on this subject*
RE: Wellness Policy: They don’t put any sugar in the numerous coffee drinks they serve (supposedly) but they sell ice cream, cheap candy, and various other unhealthy things. It just doesn’t compute.
You know what was really stupid at my school? They sell tea for the longest time but then decide that sugar is unhealthy, so they take all of the sugar out of the tea. This makes the tea taste gross so no one buys it. The school realizes that they’ve lost a money because of this, so they add slushies to their menu. The slushies have more sugar in them then the tea ever did. What is the logic of this?

Wellness Policy – Most people really ignore it at my school, so it doesn’t bother me especially since my school doesn’t sell food (except for a vending machine that sells juices that nobody bothers to restock). What really bugged me is that they said that the elementary schoolers had to bring veggies as birthday treats.
Veggies as birthday treats? Ug!

Sally: Ooooooo goody! (opens package) Oh. Um. Its….. a…… stalk of celery.
Teacher: I hope you have a wonderful day Sally, and remember, even though it’s your birthday, you should still remember to eat healthy and not over indulge with cake and icecream!
Sally: Now. Just what I wanted……… *sarcastic smile*
Those poor kids. That’s almost as bad as the destruction of Cookie Monster and his transformation into Veggie Monster.

Never heard of it. Some kids got lunch detention because they refused to pay for a fruit/veggie they knew that they wouldn’t eat.

Octopi are much smarter than squids. I know marine biologists who won’t eat them for that reason.
By the way, although English teachers insist that the plural of “octopus” is “octopi,” scientists who study them call them “octopuses.”

They both scare me. The tentacles show up in my nightmares. But yes, I did hear that octopi are the smartest invertibrates.

If you could learn any one language and be absolutely fluent in it, what language would you learn? Hm. Latin would be awesome. If you’re talking overnight, I would probably choose Chinese, because it’s a commonly spoken language that helps in lots of places. And the writing is impossible, so not having to work to learn it would be awesome.
If you had to live in another country for a summer, do you think you could do it? If you could choose, where would you go? Are you kidding? Yes I could do it. To choose a country though… something with Spanish as a native language would be cool, so that I could work on my Spanish. Ecuador would actually be really cool, but so many other countries (including Spain) would be just as cool too.
If you could have any accent, which would you want? Hm… It would be pretty cool to have a Welsh accent. I love listening to New Zealand accents, but I wouldn’t want one… if not Welsh definitely Irish. British is cool too, but they make people sound a bit like they think they know everything. Maybe that’s just my stereotype.
are there penguins at the north pole? This is less of a poll or opinion question as it is a quiz. I say that there are no native penguins, but there is probably some sort of zoo there that holds penguins.
Which do you think are cooler? Octipi or squids? I’ve never had calamari, but I am told it tastes quite good. That would be a reason to think that squids are cooler. But since octopuses are so smart, I guess they win for coolness.
I don’t go to a public school, so the wellness policy isn’t enforced really. We gain so much money for charity in our bake sales. I might just die though.

Of the places I’ve visited, the ocean (Caribbean Sea, technically) swimming with green sea turtles in Mexico. Of the places I want to go, I couldn’t choose.

It’s actually quite nice. Daffodil leaves are almost a foot tall already, crocuses are in full bloom. No idea what the temperature is, though.
310 – Actually, the proper plural of octopus is octopuses. Octopi is acceptable but not officially the proper term. There are only 6 or so -us words that, pluralized, become -i. I don’t know who your English teacher is, but he/she is slightly mistaken.
Oh and one more thing – A yorkshire accent would be sweet.
The English version is octopuses but since (I think, I am not at all sure) octopus is a Greek word, the plural really should be formed (again, I am not sure) by making it octopods.

I like to say Octopi much better than I like saying Octopuses, because it sounds better. Octopods is pretty cool too.

318-My friend loves octipus. she grosses us out by describing the process: 1st, she pulls of and eats the tentacles one by one, then she eats the head……*shiver* Not that I would eat octipus (im a veg) but if I ate meat I would totally try one. What do they taste like?
