All new for the new year! Continued from version 2007.5.

Oh, yay! New thread!
To put what I said on the last one, since most will probably be looking here, the song “I’m So Sick” by Flyleaf contains girl screamo!
I didn’t know that there was a such thing! *cheers*
In other news….Idina Menzel came out with a new single, and I really like the song Thank U by Alanis Morisette.
Is this for music we like, music that we are making ourselves, or both?
I’m in my school’s chior! ‘Tis so much fun!
2-Both.
I’m in art, but I originally wanted to be in chorus and I sort of want to change…
Well, you can do art on your own if you want to, but you can’t do chorus on your own by definition, so if you want to be in chorus, then you should switch.
Wooooo I finally have The Scythe!! It has been a long wait.
Also got ‘We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank’ by MOdest Mouse, and ‘Bring Yer Wellies’ by Gaelic Storm. Yess…
My music tastes range from classical to heavy metal. I was brought up a classical cellist, but I hope to study other styles of music next year at Berklee.
MY MUSIC:
“Ultimate Showdown” by Lemon Demon
Plain White T
Yo-yo Ma [the most amazing cellist ever]
My Chemical Romance
Vadim Repin [the most amazing violinist ever]
Celtic Woman
Green Day
Audioslave
Kelly Clarkson
Metallica
Black Sabbath
Rage Against The Machine
All-American Rejects
“Phantom of the Opera” soundtrack
Trans-Siberian Orchestra [I saw their concert a few weeks ago… amazing!]
Turtle Island String Quartet
Just to name a few. I have a lot of music.
New Music thread. Hmm.
Go look up Tonight by Keke Palmer (from the Night at the Museum soundrack) on iTunes. I swear everything in that song is said in about two breaths.
THE AQUABATS. Go and worship them.
I like a lot of bands/musicians, but I’m too lazy to list them. At least right now.
What I listen to:
musical soundtracks
anything by Ella Fitzgerald
a little folk music
classical especially Mozart when I’m in the right mood
What I play:
blues/jazz (more blues at the moment) piano
jazz and classical trumpet
singing whatever my chorus director decides (everything from Broadway musicals to jazz to medieval music to pop)
What I listen to: Right now, I’m getting people to send me whatever random music they like, with…mixed results. I like getting new music, though. And I now have over 900 songs in iTunes.
What I play: same as before. These next few months our concert band is combining with the other 9th grade concert band and with the 9th grade orchestra at various times. Could be interesting, although we only just got the music and that isn’t very interesting.
all kinds of russian music.
The Panic! website updated. It’s exciting!!!!
I just bought a couple new songs (I still have like $60 on my iTunes account):
Three Jersey Boys songs
Umbrella (peer pressure!)
Move Along (yay all-american rejects)
Tattoo by Jordin Sparks
Do you have any suggestions? I neeeed more music.
13-“Unfaithful” by Rihanna
The Beatles
The Hollies- Sorry Susanne
the Eagles- Hotel CA
Jordin Sparks? Ew! Gross! *brushes teeth*
I like a whole bunch of stuff, mostly what my cousin gives me for Christmas and my birthday.
Hey There Delilah-Plain White Tees
Kelly Clarkson
Musical soundtracks- Wicked, Hairspray, Dreamgirls, etc.
Alanis Morissette
Nickel Creek
Weird Al
DecembeRadio
Wildflower
Classical
The Beatles
The Bangles (a really good oldies group)
And a few others who I can’t remember at the moment.
I play the violin, so I sometimes like listening to classical. I also play fiddle tunes; my favorite is Devil’s Dream. I play classical, of course, but my favorite composers are Mozart, Beetoven, and Bach. My favorite classical song is Drifen.
I play in my school’s advanced orchestra, and we have Festival soon, where we go and play in front of judges and try to get a 1. I love to play, so I also play the piano.
Let’s see.. My favorite band is Green Day, my second favorite band is My Chemical Romance, my third favorite band is Fall Out Boy, and my fourth favorite band is Goldfinger.
Right now my favorite singer who is not in a band is Alanis Morisette.
I also like:
30 Seconds To Mars
AFI
Bad Religion
BNL
Evanescence
Finger Eleven
The Goo Goo Dolls
Good Charlotte
Guano Apes
Lifehouse
Linkin Park
Meg and Dia
Nickelback
Nirvana
No Doubt
The Offspring
Panic! At the Disco
Papa Roach
Paramore
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Seether
Three Days Grace
The Used
Weird Al
Yellowcard
I also like a little bit of Bowling For Soup, Flyleaf, Rise Against, Staind, and various others…
17-you are possibly my worst nightmare in terms of music. but no offense, i quite like you personally…we just seem to have veeery different tastes. weird al is always good though
I pretty much fall under the nerdiest music categories. I listen to classical music by all instruments, and pretty much any time period. I don’t like Gregorian Chants, but that’s not surprising. I also listen to folk and children’s music (Pete Seeger, mostly), and wizard rock.
-utter geekdom-
5~ Bring yer Wellies was my first Gaelic Storm CD. Just out of curiosity, what are your favorite songs on it?
19~ I don’t think that’s too nerdy. People shouldn’t be too critical on each other’s musical preferances, for example, telling them that they hate music just because they don’t listen to what’s “normal.” Bah. I’ll get off my soap box now.
What I’ve been playing lately: Lots of Christmas Carols (surprise, surprise), including the most horrid versions of Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells/We Wish You A Merry Christmas imaginable. You can thank my violin teacher for that, somehow she can’t grasp the fact that Deck the Halls does not need to be played in “Boogie Woogie Style.” Urgh.
Also, I’ve been doing some Scottish tunes, crazy counting and some positions…..much better, thankfully.
Other than that, the usual; historical and Celtic. Same as I listen to all the time.
Has anyone here heard Old Blind Dogs?
20- Well, I haven’t listened to it a lot yet (I was when I read that though, haha), but I like Scalliwag a lot, and other tracks whose titles I don’t remember…
One of the songs sounded a lot like a Chieftains song, though I think it might just be a traditional song or summut (Slingshot(GS)/Wind That Shakes the Barley(C). SOunds like a different key/instruments off the top of my head but same tune notes. I like that song too, which is maybe why I recognized it.
19 – That actually sounds a lot like what I listen to.
20 – I know. We did Deck the Halls as if it was 80’s exercise music last year in band (though I don’t mind too much since it actually gave 2nd trumpet some melody bits).
What’s on my Itunes playlist?
It’s a crazy jumble….if anyone likes any of these artists…please let me know! Other people have never heard of some of them….
Coldplay!!!!!! (My new fav)
Aimee Mann
Some Red Hot Chili Peppers
A few Eels songs
Don’t make me wait by Locksley (a personal favorite)
Freaky Friday soundttrack
some of the Garden state soundtrack
Most of 4 albums by the beatles (anyone see Across the Universe, the new musical?)
How to save a life (the whole CD)
the I am Sam soundtrack
Simon and Garfunkel
Aqualung
A few natasha beding field songs
fountains of wayne
rufus wainwright
and the wierdist soundtrack to go on an 8th grader’s playlist….
the choral soundtrack from Les Choristes! (We watched it in french class) if anyone has seen it….
18 – Ah. It’s hard for me to meet other people that like music I like, so that’s okay. *shrugs*
19-GASP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You listen to classical music??? I thought I was the only one who did that. Everyone thinks i’m wierd because that’s pretty much all I listen to.
does anybody listen to musicals? i listen to thise too. just that and classical music, yes i know,i’m wierd. but that’s why i’m here, right?
I love musicals!!! Wicked and Hairspray are my favorite. I saw Wicked in Chicago and it rocked!
I have the Wicked and Sweeney Todd soundtracks, and also a song or two from a version of Peanuts, but I usually don’t listen to them.
20/23-You don’t know a bad Christmas carol until you’ve sung “Rap the Halls”
rap rap the halllls oo oo aa aa rap the halllllllls…
30-*hides*
I don’t want to know…
I love the Solas version of The Wind that Shakes the Barley… the instrumental music is amazing, and the lyrics are just… um, depressing? Still, it’s kind of funny with such an upbeat song and such sad words… I love the title (which was used in a movie which I watched a bit of, and then hid. *dies*)
24-Heard of them all, don’t like most.
I *listen* to classical music, or I used too. That was all I listened to for the first ten years of my life.
Oh! Sorry to double post, but I was searching for possible songs to use as background music for my Karate forms, and I looked up the National Treasure soundtrack, from the second movie. Guess what? There’s a song about bunnies! **
Go look it up. Now.
31- Both versions I have don’t have words… should I look that one up?
I like the songs from the Disney animated musicals. Also, I recently discovered the composer Vangelis, and I think his stuff is really cool.
33-Why do you need a song for your karate? Do you do XMA?
I like pretty much everything but it just depends on my mood.
Smash Mouth is amazing and it’s one of the few bands I listen to no matter what mood I’m in.
I love the White Stripes! I wish they would tour more (do they tour?). I’ve never heard of them having a concert but if there is ever one near where I live I’m going to go.
So does anyone else absolutely love Apocalyptica? Has anyone even heard of them?
19&26- i cant stand it but i think everyone should listen to whatev they want, as long as they don’t force others to listen to it,which isn’t all that hard these days with ipods and cd players w/ headphones all sorts of other tech stuff.
and i heard a bit of evanescence in an ad- its great at first, but i think i’d get bored of it if i listened to it a lot.
39 – I love the stuff off of Fallen but I don’t really like anything off The Open Door.
Their older stuff – off of Origin – is okay too.
34-It’s pretty easy to find the lyrics, I think, but I had a really hard time finding the song on the internet. I’m not even sure if it’s the original melody, or a different song with the same title… *goes off to think* Maybe it’s on itunes…though the beginning part is my favorite…
Has anybody heard of Enter the Haggis?
I have the song Me Against The World by Simple Plan stuck in my head. It’s been there all day. Has anybody else heard it before?
36-I hope to at one point or another, but right now I’m sticking to cartwheels and bo staff (which I’m pretty good at).
And now I’m obsessed with the NTST.
If there are any Panic! fans here, I believe their new album is called Pretty Odd, is coming out on March 25th, and the first single is Nine In the Afternoon.
If you don’t believe me, go on their website. NOW.
44-Who do you stalk? Their manager?
Kidding. I’m kinda a Panic! fan, I bought IWSNT a while back.
Did you knotice that IWSNT kinda looks like “I wasn’t?”
I’m sure you did.
40- that really doesn’t tell me anything. i just heard a bit more of it in the mall and i rest my case.
I don’t really have any idea if any MBers like this type of music, but has anyone heard of the Taste of Chaos tour?
I onnly ask because there’s going to be three jrock bands on the tour this year (MUCC, DespairsRay, The Underneath). Don’t know much about the last one but MUCC and Despa are really cool, so I’m trying to see if I can go.
I don’t actually know much about the other bands playing though, haha…
45 – Actually, I didn’t notice that.
…
Maybe I’m a little slow…
47 – I’ve heard of it. Cool.
Oh the cuckoo she’s a pretty bird
She sings as the flies
She bringeth good tidings
She telleth no lies…
The Pentangle. Splendid music.
anyone listen to eminem? i don’t usually like rap, but lose yourself is a pretty good song. i must go look up those rap songs cetp reccomended…
TSO ALL THE WAY!!
i have recently become obsessed with MUSE also. they are really good.
50- Oh! BRENDA!!!
Forget it. She hasn’t been on in ages. But whatever. She likes Muse too.
i am obsessed with “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles
it is such a good song
My bro loves music. I call him a music freak
God this is stupid,
50 – Muse! I kinda like them.
Anyone notice their logo is the same as THIS Muse?
Did they name themselves after Muse? That’d be awesome. I must look this up.
Whoa!
My mom was trying to show me the Tom Petty lyrics for Runaway Train. Every lyrics site you try keeps giving Tom credit for someone else’s song! Can someone post Tom’s real lyrics please?
Red-tailed HAWK
Wait. I think I’ve found it! It’s Runaway TrainS. With an s on the end of train…
But all of those people think the other song is by Tom and it isn’t! This is strange…
Red-tailed HAWK
They’re taking over the world!
I suppose I have unusual taste in music. Most people get this slack look when I try to tell them about my very favorite bands and sort of mumble before sliding away…”Uh, what’s their name again? Because it doesn’t sound familiar.”
Teh Band Pyramid
The Arcade Fire
The Flaming Lips//The White Stripes//Wilco
The Decemberists//The Fiery Furnaces//Radiohead
Then the rest are in no particular order…
Los Abandoned, Beck, Gnarls Barkley, Nirvana, They Might Be Giants, R.E.M., The Kinks, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones… I don’t like a lot of Feist but I love “My Moon, My Man.” It’s a very strange song. I haven’t really listened to Amy Winehouse but I really like the song “Rehab.”
I also just got the Juno soundtrack, and I really like it.
56-Oh, I’ve seen a documentary for the Undertones (well, I kind of was watching with my dad while really sewing my pointe shoes, so I don’t know if that counts). And yay for TMBG!
Has anyone here seen the musical RENT? It’s my absolute favorite musical and I can’t stop listening to it.
61 – We own it, and I REALLY want to see it, but I’m not allowed.
a really good song is Monster by Meg and Dia if anyone gets chance to listen to it, do it. its on youtube
re 49 –
The elephant is a pretty bird,
She hops from bough to bough.
She builds her nest in a rhubarb tree
and whistles like a cow.
I have no idea who wrote that, or why I remember it. I jsut thought I’d share it with you.
64~ Neat. Reminds me of “The Kangaroo”
A kangaroo sat on an oak,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
Watching a tailor mend his coat,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo.
Chorus:
Kimi neero kiddy kum keero.
Kimi neero kimo
Ba ba ba ba billy illy inkum,
ikum kiddy kum kimo.
Bring me my arrow and my bow,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
Till I go shoot that kangarow,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
The old man fired; he missed his mark,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
He shot the old sow through the heart,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo
Bring me some ‘lasses in a spoon,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
So I can heal that old sow’s wound,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
Oh, now the old sow’s dead and gone,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo,
Her little ones go waddling on,
To my inkum kiddy kum kimo
____________
Pardon me for posting all that on this thread instead of the song lyrics thread…
I wrote a few covers of some popular songs. If you want, I will share them.
66- Share away.
64- Paul, remember how you once posted something about how people had found this new piece of music that was 60 separate parts each for one person or something? Did anyone ever perform that? Did I make up seeing that here? Most importantly, are there mp3s online of it?
61- I want to see it on Broadway, but that isn’t likely to happen anytime soon. We sang Seasons of Love in chorus a few years ago, though. I love that song.
53/54- Please desist from making comments like that. Just because you don’t like music doesn’t mean we all shouldn’t. Have you even heard the music we’re talking about? Even if you decide you don’t like music, this is a thread for the discussion of music, not pointless bashing of it, so just don’t post here.
37- They’re a metal band, I think? I heard one song and it was pretty good but I haven’t looked into them yet. I think they’ve been mentioned on the blog before.
Ok, my life, not that anyone really cares:
I’m listening to all my music in alphabetical by album order! Slowly, when I’m on the computer. Currently playing:
I Palindrome I, They Might Be Giants, Dial-A-Song:20 Years of They Might Be Giants (edit: She’s An Angel, same CD. edit 2, as it takes me a while to compose a post: How Can I Sing Like A Girl?, same CD. edit 3: James K. Polk, same CD. edit 4: Meet James Ensor, then Mammal, still same CD. I’m going to click Submit now…)
And I started work on a NYSSMA solo. By started, I mean I’ve sight-read the music. Level 4. It’s not as intimidating now that I know what it sounds like, but I have 3 months to get everything perfect, up to the right tempo, with articulations and dynamics. Along with All-County in a week. They took away the hard song! And slowed down another song! :'( And it’s still not wind ensemble. Of course. But that’s okay, it’s playing music. Please let the conductor respect us as people with skill, please let him/her make it harder than normal band. Normal band is actually not that easy. Our instrument locker could be the center of an interesting story, though. Various fun trombone things are posted on the walls, and today Evan threatened to take all the non-band stuff there that wasn’t his and sell it on eBay. He’s the biggest offender in that respect, though. Anyway, I’ll stop rambling.
37-apocalyptica! wooo!
39-evanescence–terrible. genre has so much more to offer. look into epica, within temptation, nightwish.
59-erm really? thems are all very famous. at least to me.
as for my own tastes, those of you who dont know, METAL. currently liking very much:catamenia.
68-Metal is awesome! And my parents hate it, which is always a plus. My mom can’t stand that I listen to Godsmack.
67-There’s a movie of RENT with most of the original broadway cast-you should see that.
everyone is ignoring my posts. *goes off and sulks while listening to Monster- the song she posted about in 63, but no one bothered to comment on!*
currently listening to flogging molly. shweet celtic thrash. i am also downloading empty walls by serj. just thought i’d let you all know. anyway, off to my track meet.
I found a CD I must get, “Sea Chanties and Forcastle Songs at Mystic Seaport.” I’m at the library, so the links to listen to the songs I can actually listen to. JOY!
63-Ya! Meg & Dia! I have a copy of their album. They are good.
66-By covers do you mean parodies? Sure!
Yesterday I got the CD Phobia by Breaking Benjamin. It is AWESOME.
I’m also a bit obsessed with the White Stripes currently. I want to get White Blood Cells if I have the chance.
A friend just sent me a song he wrote and wants me to write it out…hmmm. I’ll have to learn it first. Which might be a bit strange, as it’s a guitar piece, and I play violin.
On another note, I am now in possesion of a record. An actual record from the ’70s. It came with a book for learning the English Concertina…yes, I’m still wanting to do that. Even though my dad was ascribing different car makes to the different chords. Humph.
73-I love the White Stripes! I have White Blood Cells, Get Behind me Satan, and Icky Thump. My dad had Elephant and I need to get it from him. I keep forgetting and I finally remembered this weekend so he went and got sick so I can’t see him.
I love Rent and Wicked. I might get to see Wicked on broadway this spring break.
71-isnt flogging molly considered punk? and the serj thing is far far worse than anything SOAD ever did.
76-flogging molly is more punk, yes.
high tower just gave me a ton of new music. my favs out of that stuff so far are gogol bordello, the fratellis, arctic monkeys, cheap trick (well, i liked them before but i didn’t have much), flogging molly (:D), and spoon.
75 – Yay! Yup, I got White Blood Cells. My favorite is Now Mary I think.
76 – Serj Tankian’s CD got a good review in our paper. I don’t like it though.
I love the song Concrete Angel by Martina Mcbride. It’s really good even though it makes me cry.
Quick poll:
1. If I were to send in a recording of me violining to the GAPAs, and if they were to post it, would you (pl) be interested in hearing it (it would be the Paganini violin concerto no 1 first movement, if that makes any difference)?
(if so, GAPAs, would you be able to post or convert windows media player files? and would I have to get parent permission?)
Yay, so I get to start the Tchaikovsky violin concerto at my lesson Friday.. fun.
Lizzie (80): I would love to hear it!
Same, I would very much like to listen to your music.
I would love to listen to it.
(80) Sure, send it in. If we can post MuseCasts, we can certainly post music. No parental permission is necessary.
80~ I’d listen to it.
80 – I’d love to listen to it.
Would anyone be interested ini a recording of me playing “Summertime” on piano.
I’ll listen to any music a MBer sends in. So long as I’m in a place that has an adequate internet connection for getting loads of information through in a decent amount of time.
I like the new age composer Vangelis.
I’m working on “Student Concerito No. 2” by Adolf Huber. Not exactly the norm for my pkaying, but I’m actually having a good time with it. Actually, I should be practicing it for my lesson tomorrow.
I’m currently working on my district’s festival music. I am the FIRST TRUMPET IN THE DISTRICT!!! I also play the electric guitar.
You play guitar? Cool!
Ahhh! Today PATD’s new single Nine In the Afternoon came out and it’s on iTunes yayayay!!!!!!!
90 – First trumpet? Cool. I’m second chair in my school’s top band and actually first trumpet in jazz band. Unfortunately, our first chair (technically second chair in jazz band) is brilliant.
I’m probably going to send in a recording of me playing Summertime on the piano and possibly playing my solo in Birdland on the trumpet.
I recorded Summertime and it has been being attached to the e-mail for the last 15 minutes. I don’t know if I’ll actually going to get to send it in.
Let’s see…

Anybody here like Linkin Park and/or Blue October?
80- yes!
*sigh* Again, I have no idea whatsoever about the music being discussed on this thread. *listens to own weird music in solitude and ponders existence*
Midnight Fiddler (100): Me neither! ::joins weird music club::
100, 101- Can I join?
Yay for the weird music club. I’m definitely in there.
Yeah. So. I saw this flyer out of the corner of my eyes during health advertising a band, the members are four people at my school… it’s a metal band and apparently they’re pretty good. Say’s “Support Snipville Metal!†at the bottom, which I defiantly would like to. They have a gig tomorrow I think and I really want to go… hopefully me and Lee can make it. I actually don’t have anything else going on, plus it’s a friday, so if I got the date right and we can get a ride it looks pretty likely
AHG. So the snow day meant I couldn’t get the info from the poster.
…But then I decided to just go stalker and found out where/when they were playing with the help of google. It’s kinda far though, and there’s a lot of snow, so I dunno… I’m going to call my friend and see what she thinks, I guess.
I listen to a bunch of different music. I have my sister’s old iPod with 3,267 songs
I like–
Paramore
Jonas Brothers (my friends are obsessed and got me partially obsessed)
BoysLikeGirls
Wicked (just saw it on the 30th, Need to get the songs
and a bunch of other random songs by random artists….
106 – *applauds*
Hey guys, you HAVE to watch this really cool music video. If you go to youtube and type in AFI (a fire inside) and watch the video titled Miss Murder, it is awesome!!! My friend showed it to me last night at a sleepover, and I am addicted to it now. WATCH IT!!!! ITS GOOD!!!!
108 – MORE APPLAUSE!
Or, you could go to Youtube and watch Lost in Space by Avantasia. Non-metal likers too, it’s more alt/rock and is a really good song. DOn’t pay attention to the vidio if you don’t like it, I didn’t really. No one wears dresses with pom-poms on them. Or so I sincerely hope.
110 – I watched part of it. I kinda liked the song but not the video.
Let’s see, music videos to reccomend music videos to reccomend… Walking Contradiction by Green Day. Because it’s just so funny. The song’s great too.
I’ll probably think of more later..
102/3~ Yup, we shall band together and face the onslaught of popular music.
112- *bands*
112 – *bands too*

Inspectah Deck
KRS-One
Wyclef Jean
Lil’ Wayne (Not the stuff they play on the radio, that’s crap, check out earlier works and the EP The Leak)

I like Christian rock, rap, and contemporary music. My favorite bands include: Newsboys, Relient K, Building 429, Kutless, dc Talk, Jars of Clay, tobymac, Stellar Kart, and Steven Curtis Chapman. So, yeah, this is what I listen to the most.
110-lol. avantasia ftw. the video is due to the power metal. power metal is. . .i cant seem to think of any words other than “gay” to describe it, but trust me, i mean it in a good way.
I like pretty much everything Kari likes……
My Chemical Romance
AFI
Panic at the Disco
Green Day
Linkin Park
Mindless Self Indulgence (an electro punk group)
Queen
Pink Floyd
Depeche Mode
I don’t really like Rap…….
111-My favorite music video might be Fall Out Boy’s Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, because monkey’s rock……..
115-Oh, I like those Putumayo CDs too! I have the Latin Dance one, the Tea lands one, World Lounge, one where the sing in French (I think there might be a couple), the world playground one (I don’t think that is the name… but I can’t remember…) and… I think that might be it. But they’re great.
I don’t watch many music videos, but most of the ones I do are on youtube (*hangs head*). The Mesopotamians by They Might Be Giants is fun, though.
The other day we went to hear the Black Mountain Chorus of Wales. They were vey good, and I’m listening to their CD now…
Music videos? I usually don’t watch them at all. not least because we don’t have TV and the sort of music I listen to usually doesn’t have artists that do that sort of thing…. However, at one really good restaurant we sometims go to they play Etheopian music videos. They’re interesting.
I remembered last night… on the National Geographic website, there’s a kind of cool video (slightly creepy) to Gwerzy/Gwertzy by Kila that I like. It’s probably one of my favorite songs…
98- i love both those bands. they rock. blue october’s lead vocalist is awesome.
116-that would make an extremely varied playlist. jars of clay, kutless, and relient k are the best though. have you ever listened to the band Red? they are like christian metal. pretty good.
sorry about the false genre for flogging molly. whatever they are, i like them. i didn’t think serj tankien was that bad. i kind of liked their song “The sky is over”. it was alright.
I have heard of the band Red, and they are pretty good. I hear them on a Christian radio station that plays Christian metal Saturday nights. Another good Christian band is Nevertheless. Have you heard of them?
*joins weird music club*
speaking of Youtube, this isn’t a music video but it has music in it and it is rather awesome. if you search ‘sony bravia heartbeats’ into the search box it should be the first one.
My top 5 bands:
1. Goo Goo Dolls (These guys rock so much…their songs have great messages, too. It’s not all about drugs and drinking like a lot of other bands)
2. Linkin Park
3. Boys Like Girls
4. Blue October
5. Someone else who I can’t think of right now
I loveeeeee Smash Mouth, especially the song Padrino. ‘Tis about the mafia.
Life imitates the game of chess
You can be the rook or the pawn
If you have the strategy that’s best
You can be the king or in this case the don
It’s easy to get knocked out of the game
Depending on which way you want to play
You’ve got to have eyes in the back of your head
Now that we have that out of the way…
Rev up the Lincoln and let’s get to drinkin’ some caffieno
Let’s go to Nicoletti’s ’cause he makes a mean spaghetti sauce
I’m a connoiseur of the finer things in life
I’ll take any flick with Al Pacino
I’m a man of respect and I prefer to be addressed as Padrino
125) Whoa, that was really cool…it made me want to go find all my old bouncy balls and throw them around. I liked the song too!
I think the Smash Mouth song, “All Star” is pretty cool.
Hmm, actually right now I’m kind of into rap…Kanye West’s Stronger, anything by Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park, Fort Minor) and some Lady Sovereign.
I love Smash Mouth, but I barely know anything by them.
As far as rap goes, I hate it all! Well, except for Mike Shinoda. I like his stuff.
I like…I want to get the Flyleaf CD.
And I want to get the Used CD “In Love and Death”.
And when it comes out in March, I want to get “Pretty.Odd” by Panic At the Disco.
119- I like Fall Out Boy, but i wish they would have spelled that right.
131-I have In Love and Death, Lies for the Liars, and the self-titled album.
I have music schizoprenia. I have so many cds and sometimes I’ll just hate a band for a while and then decide to love it again. Today I listened to Marilyn Manson for the first time in months, but for the past couple months I hated his music, and then today i just loved it.
Smash Mouth’s not that bad, no.
Fall Out Boy’s da BEAST!
133 – W00t! xDD
I like the songs from the animated Disney movies.
-135
AMEN!!!!!!!
135-I like them too, except the love songs, because they’re mega mushy. I’ve been obsessing over the Aladdin songs for a while (possibly because I play Iago in our school’s production) and I’ve memorized “Prince Ali” and “You’re Only Second Rate”.
I’ve been getting into Bjork.
“Which came first: the music or the misery?”
-Fall Out Boy
I’m gonna say the misery.
People, will you please post on the lyrics thread? It’s getting terribly lonely out there.
“Which came first, the love or the love song?”
–Butterfly Boucher
140- technically, love. It’s a biological gimik forthe promotion of the species.
137- I don’t really like the love songs either, except A Whole New World, but that’s because it’s as much about travel as love.
I like love songs if they are good. Johnny Cash makes good lyriks,as does the wedding present. And there are some good ones every now and then hidden on the radio. The secret to a good love song is… enduendé, i think it’s called? Loving someone, but the pain in knowing that the love is impossible or shall never be returned.
I’m not sure what Butterfly meant by her question. But it seems reasonable to wonder whether people would fall in love the same way without love songs to tell them how. Or maybe, thinking of a particular case, she wondered whether she would have fallen in love when she did if she hadn’t already had a love song on her mind. Or maybe, being a singer-songwriter, she was talking about writing a love song. The answers are different and not always obvious.
(When it comes to chickens and eggs, however, there’s no question about it: eggs came first, by hundreds of millions of years.)
Love came first, I believe.
Love songs. Birds can’t technally love, but they sung “love songs” long before humans. And don’t get me started on mating calls.
124-no i have not heard of thm. i used to be into christian metal and rock, but i sort of got used to mainsteam and secular. christian metal still has some pretty good bands thoug. i will have to look up Nevertheless.
i love disney movie song. my 17 year old sister makes me listen to that Mulan song about “mister i’ll, make a man out of you” on the way to school a lot. but i enjoy it still.
Hmm. I don’t know which came first. If i were a robot I would explode right now.
The next line asks “Which is more important in the long run?” Most people wouldn’t ask that question, but BB isn’t sure. I like that about her.
124- My 18 yr. old cousin made me listen to that song while riding in her car and for some strange reason it made me laugh. So I sorta know how you feel. But as far as being a Disney song it’s not too bad. My favorite Disney song is ” The Circle of Life” by Elton John in The Lion King ( my favorite animated Disney movie).
*sings*
“In the end it doesn’t matter,
In the end they all go home
I thought about it for a minute
Music’s in the kiss we hold…
Music is a walk outside.”
Yay for Butterfly.
I just got back from Target. I got the Flyleaf CD! *happy* They’re going to be touring with Seether, and it’d be awesome if they came here.
I also got a few songs off of iTunes. All of ’em say “alternative” on the genre, but they are veeery different. “The City Is At War” (normally I don’t like songs like that, but it’s so catchy!), “Steady As She Goes” (this is the only song by The Racunteurs on iTunes! Isn’t that weird? It’s the only one I know, but..), and “Becoming the Bull” (I’ve recently discovered that I like metal. :D).
Oh, and My Chemical Romance is touring the US again!!! Or they will be. Please come here..
115-stadium arcadium was their best. either that or californication.
140-yay!
i don’t like MCR, fall out boy, boys like girls, paramore, or anything else you seem to be discussing at the moment, so i’ll come back later. XD also side note bela fleck is amazing, and i finally got (from somebody else, i still haven’t bought a cd in years) reel big fish’s “our live album is better than your live album” and it is hilarious
w00t to:
Chopin & his ballades
Liszt & his “Il Sospiro” (Conzert-Etude III)
Prokofiev & his Diabolic Suggestion
Ginastera & his Sonata #1
Bach’s WTC
Beethoven’s 3rd concerto
Everything else I am/just was playing
152-Yay!
Gaelic Storm is coming to my town in April!!! They’ve put up the posters in the theater, and it’s on the board outside too. *is excited* YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY GAELIC STORM IS COMING HERE AND I WILL GET TO GO WITH KATIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My musical tastes are strange and insanely varied.
So…here they are
Afro-Celt Sound System (World/Rock)
Peter Gabriel (World/Rock)
Talking Heads (Alternative Rock)
Zap Mama (World)
Alejandro Escovedo (Folk/Alternative Rock)
Wilco (Alternative Rock)
They Might Be Giants (Alternative Rock)
Richard Thomson (English Rock/Folk/everything else)
My Chemical Romance (Sort of. My brother has The Black Parade, but I’d like to hear more)
Fall Out Boy (Same, need to hear more)
Breaking Benjamin (I’ve only heard about three songs, but I like them so far)
157-Oh, I like Afro-Celt Soundsystem (And TMBG)! They always make me incredibly happy and energized when I hear them. *jumps up and down happily*
I also got two more Putumayo CDs… (*smiles*) some sort of anniversary collection, I think.
156-Yay!
156- NOOOOOOoo no fair!! *beats with wooden boards of envy*
Also I’ve been meaning to ask, what cd of theirs should I buy? I already have Bring Yer Wellies, but I’d like another…
Three Doors Down’s new CD is coming out in early May!!!
I think the sixth, if that’s a Tuesday!
52-good call
if its John Mayer/JM3 (Trio), then i lik.
well, some i dislike, but mostly.
reply to this if u lik/dislike john mayer
98-the fray is siccccccc-nasty!! (that means really good!!)
Oh my.
I heard a Fergie song that I actually liked.
What is wrong with me.
*goes into Nirvana mode*
161/162-are you new? you seem to forget that we have to talk in complete sentences even though this blog is on the internet. the fray is okay. they seem to cliche for me to like them. my little cousin was once obsessed with them and played “How to Save a Life” almost nonstop. AAAHHHHGGG!
157-breaking benjamin is very good. my favorites are Diary of Jane, So cold, Blow me Away and i think thats it. the other bands you listed i don’t really listen too, but know a lot of people who do. i heard “Teenagers” by My Chemical Romance, and i liked it!
recently i have been wanting to listen to more Weezer. there is no such thing as too much of a good thing….*sigh*.
i must get into more varied sorts of music.
157—Breaking Benjamen is pretty good, you’d probably like Three Days Grace too.
And MCR is my favorite band. They’re amazing (to me).
165 – The Black Parade is the best, though.
It’s like a totally different band.
But I for one love Green Day!
I’m obsessed currently. I am most of the time.
And MCR and FOB and then Goldfinger, who know one knows about.
166- I think I disagree. TBP is a different band, but it’s still MCR behind it all. With that logic, My Chemical Romance is better. And I think MCR is better because of their musical range. Go listen to Cancer then listen to Vampires Will Never Hurt You then Helena. Hard to believe it’s the same band.
I KNOW GOLDFINGER!
159~ I know I’m lucky. ^.^
Ah, I don’t know what of their CDs I like the best. If you want more of the sound they have now, I’d reccommend Tree or How Are We Getting Home? Hearding Cats is good too, and is sort of between how they sound now and how they started out. If you want how they began, and much more of a traditional sound then I’d reccomend Gaelic Storm, their first CD.
When it’s all over, just accumulate them over time….I think they’ve got a new one coming out, too.
does anyone know of john mayer?!
he rocks!
(exept for Waiting on the World To Change. so annoying. to think i once loved it. uggg.)
129- yes, i agree!
Ah!
Goldfinger is supposed to come out with a new album entitled Hello Destiny on April 22nd!
(According to Wikipedia, but I have reasons to believe this is true.)
And..
If they come here, I’ll probably be able to go!
YES!!!!!
I just got a new CD the other day….Best of the Bothy Band. I love it, and I’ve been listening to it every spare minute. Like right now.
I learned some new tunes today, in my several hour practice session.
Just for fun, The Butterfly-A slip jig.
And for my lesson; Drummond Castle and Muckin’ o’ Geordie’s Brye
I also got a bit farther on “Student Concertino No. 2”, but it’s still dreadfully slow (metronome mark 63-counting 1/8 notes) and hard to play (all those positions, EEP!!) But it’s getting better. Sort of.
My favorite bands of all time:
The Beatles
Arctic Monkeys
Kooks
Of Montreal
The White Stripes
!!!
*Is amazed by the mainstreamness of MB in general*
I would like to reopen the thingy about downloading.
There’s a Dilbert strip about why downloading doesn’t improve the sales of the artists.
Boss: So, your last job was… rock star?
Interviewee: Yes.
B: Hey, l recognize you! l bought your new CD!
I: No, you didn’t.
B: well, when l say bought, l mean downloaded.
l: exactly. Everyone downloaded it and no one bought anything.
B: Couldn’t you perform live?
l: Too many musicians, not enough venues.
B: So now you just play for the love of music?
l: l burned my guitar for heat.
Asok: l bought your CD!
I: NO YOU DIDN’T!!!!!!!!!
171 is correct! Yay!
174 – Exactly. If I want to get a CD, I always buy it, because I prefer that. If there’s just one song I like, I get it off iTunes.
i’ve only bought two songs (english and romanian versions of dragostea din tei, more commonly known as the numa numa song). all my other music i’ve gotten from
a) cds i’ve found lying around my house
b) other people’s itunes
though i am very lazy in acquiring new music, i have a very nice selection on my ipod.
my favorite band: QUEEN!!!!!!
favorite singers (voice-wise): freddie mercury, david bowie, and frank sinatra.
favorite song: under pressure, by queen and david bowie
I’ve never downloaded any music. When I want to get an album, I go to the store and buy the CD, put it into the iTunes and then cram it into my rapily shringking sace on the iPod, and listen to it. I’d listen to my CDs more, but my CD players are evil beyond all words and love to eat my poor music. *sniffle, sob*
177-*Gasp* You have an i-pod? I didn’t know… I know you like music (and certainly know how to play it!!!) but I didn’t know you had an i-pod.
If people are wondering, no, I don’t have an i-pod. We exist! Heh, my “friends” like to say “do you have a blah? NO? Who doesn’t have a blah!!?!?!? Don’t you even have a blah? NO!!??!!??!!??!!?? WHat DO YOU HAVE?!” It’s quite amusing. And afterwards it feels great to be completely disconnected, having no electronic stuff… very freeing, very… Quakerly. Of course, we are considering getting me a CD player (GASP! NOT THAT!?!) because I have a radio/cd player/tape player combination thing of which the cd player part has been broken for a few years. We’re going to get a nice one that will last, and I don’t think this is too much of a big deal considering all I don’t have
Ah, that reminds me, I must head to the Global Warming thread…
Red-tailed HAWK
173-!!! is fun. i just got them semi-recently
you all know i never buy cds…so yeah.
got some more stuff from devin (and for those wondering, yes i actually give people music too, i don’t just mooch)…a best of dio cd, some eagles of death metal, and the mars volta
I have an Ipod. It’s my mom’s old one because she got one of the little video ones.
I like it because I have the alarm clock so I can wake up to music instead of beeping.
I have never downloaded music from the internet. I would probably make something explode if I tried.
Jews! and everyone else who likes good world music, discover the Idan Raichel Project. They are already famous in Israel and went debut in US with their self-titled album. They are musical diplomats, using international musicians such as Ethiopian Jews who were airlifted on Project Moses, and also palestinians and Ladysmith black mombazo, search it on Itunes.
Best songs:
Mi’Ma’akim
Siyaisha Ingoma
Ayal-Ayale
Boee
178~ Yes, I do have an iPod. I got it because my CD player was eating all my precious music, and my draggin it them all over creation wasn’t helping. So, I saved up and bought one for myself. I use it all the time, but I don’t go in public with earphones stuck in my head; that’s just rude.
I like the smallness of it because I can put in my pocket and listen in the car. Actually, I learn alot by listening to music, styles and techniques that I want to learn, so it’s great to be able to in spare moments.
I didn’t get it to “fit in”- I got it because it seemed like it would work well for my needs. And it does.
I stole my dad’s BNL CD. Stunt.
So good.
Recently I’ve been looking for music that I would hear on the radio a long time ago…I’ve never been able to put titles or faces to this music but now I know. It’s so cool, but sad too…
I’m listening to The Essential Joshua Bell at the moment. *sigh* I wish I could sound that clear when playing in higher positions. Wow. Anyway, I’m in awe.
Lately I’ve been listening to music and trying to figure out how the players get certain sounds, and then htinking how I can do the same. I try, but I don’t susally sound anywhere near. *sigh again* Actually, I should go and practise some more. (Yes, more. I already played some today, but I need to do some actual work on one of those pieces before my lesson. AHH!!)
181-andy gave me the sticker song. it’s like jewish rap. little weird, but not bad
182-i walk around in public with my earphones stuck in all the time. being rude is more fun than you know
183-BNL is win. i have a couple songs from stunt
185-hey, i know him…violinist, right?
switches is coming back along with four other fairly unknown bands for $5. i’m thinking i’ll probably go if we can get more people (other than just me and devin) shouldn’t be too hard for only $5. we thought about bringing salty (the poor kid doesn’t listen to rock, so we’re trying to edjumicate him) but it might be a little too rockin’ for him at this point
oh duh, you play violin too don’t you? *is intelligent* i totally remembered that, especially since your name is midnight fiddler…
186~ On being rude: Yes, it has momentary satisfaction, but then you have to pay for it. I sometimes walk around in public with my headphones, but oly when I’m avoiding conversation or there’s no one I know. But as as far as listening to music when other people are talking to me- my parents would kill me.
And yes, I play violin. Or fiddle, whichever name you prefer.
188-heh, teachers yell at me for that all the time. and then they’re like “aren’t i supposed to take that away? isn’t there some new rule about that?”
but that’s when you can go “what? i can’t hear you!” and run really fast XD
honestly most of my friends do the same thing, so it doesn’t matter. we’ll be talking and somebody’ll be like “ooh, this is a good song!” “what is it?” “the klingon rap!” “oh i was listening to almost human a minute ago! but now it’s on you enjoy myself, the 20-min version” “nice”
etc. that’s basically how we talk about music, is whilst listening to it.
182-Well then there’s a rational reason to have one. I know of far too may people who use theirs to hide from the world by listening to music instead of acknowledging the other beings in the area.
Ah! Rebecca, I have been meaning to tell you: A while back I heard that stupid song Glassboro used to torture you–and us all–by posting the lyrics to. Well, I heard it for two seconds before I changed the channel right away
Hmmm, I wonder what Glassboro’s up to…
Red-tailed HAWK
190-acknowledging human beings is overrated.
also i don’t remember what the song was but i remember it happened to be one i liked. you should listen to it, just because the lyrics got annoying doesn’t mean you wouldn’t like the song.
and glassboro’s in guatemala right now.
i had to take off all my john williams and bright eyes temporarily i really need to copy those movies over so i have space on my ipod (right now it has robin hood men in tights, juno, and sweeney todd on there)
190-wait, you mean pinball wizard? that is a freaking amazing song! do not diss the who *glarityglare*

my ipod was deleted of every single song and the computer that has the songs on it is 9000 miles away.
i. am. dying.
You know the song Bleeding love? well it was a hit in NZ long before it became a hit in the US. guess we arent THAT far behind after all…
190- He left the blog, anyway. But it’s not a bad song.
I think I’m the only one in my grade who even knows who Avenged Sevenfold is, let alone like them. Ah well.
Is metal the same thing as heavy metal? What are the other types of metal?
One time there was a teacher who said she liked all types of music…except country. I’m fine with this, but a bunch of people cried out. xD
190~ Yeah, most people don’t know that I even have one, because I don’t ignore use it as a, ignoring the world device. That drives me crazy.
i’m so happy to be back with my violin after a week!!!!
i was looking through the course schdule for our comunity college and there were only three music classes: Music appreciation, Electronic music, and the history of rock and roll. I almost died. THAT IS PATHETIC!!!!!! Ugh. People around here.
I am in love with the song Falling Slowly from Once.
mmmmm….
so we had the talent show today, and there was a teacher band. XD it was actually amazing…verde (psych, reg us history (i was in AP but a lot of my friends had him) rocked out on the bass, he was sweet. and i want his bass, it is so cool. rhinehart (theater!) and blosser (choir, haven’t had her) were amaaaazing, rhinehart sang backup and played cowbell (more cowbell!) and blosser sang (they did black horse and a cherry tree by KT tunstall) and then johnson (band, wewt) played bongoes and ponce (art, know but haven’t had her) and the new math teacher that i don’t know played acoustic guitars. also we had a ton of singers, the best were drew and hallie, they were both incredible (hallie also played guitar, drew also played piano).
adam b. (this isn’t music but whatevs) did that thing with the two sticks and string and the little roller thing you flip around. kolada and rachel p. were the MCs and rachel was like “he does this to pick up chicks. he goes around the country touring high school talent shows to meet women” and then kolada was like “so teachers who have adam ., next time he wants to leave for some “USY convention”, you know what he’s doing” we all look over at andy and i’m like “so that’s what you do at those things…”
it was great, i love being in a small school where you know everybody because kolada and rachel would always mention specific people in the audience (which is usually way lame) but since everybody knew what they were talking about, it was funny. some choir guys sang jesse’s girl, and rachel was like “jesse v. this song is for you!” and everybody started cheering like crazy. sarah looks over and goes “so who is jesse’s girl?” i look around and i’m like “well, it looks like about half the school” (it’s true though, everybody loves jesse)
I ordered my concertina today!! I did decide to get a tenor model, after all. So, it should come in the near future, and I’m really excited. WHEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My iTunes playlist goes like this:
Josephine Foster – Hazel Eyes, I Will Lead You
Josephine Foster – A Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing (which is all German, by the way. But still good.)
Joanna Newsom – The Milk-Eyed Mender
The Bridies – 4 and 9
Tim van Eyken – New Boots
Various – Faire, Sweet, & Cruelle (OK, so maybe I’ve got the spelling wrong. All I know is that it isn’t normal spelling.)
Mimi & Richard Fariña – The Best of Mimi and Richard Fariña
The Pentangle – Basket of Light
Csòkolom – May I Kiss Your Hand
The Ökrös Ensemble – Transylvanian Village
Time to upload some more, pretty soon.
W00t I got Pretty.Odd.!! It RULES!
And, I’ve recently gotten into Hole. Wow. They are good.
Sorry I haven’t been on the past few days – at the beach, then distracting by The Sims 2.
96-they don’t know avenged sevenfold?!!! thats extremely weird. i can name 10 people right off th top of my head who wear their shirts at least once a week. its kind of strange. almost cult like in my school.
IT CAME IT CAME IT CAME!!!!!!! I got my concertina today, and I’m so very excited. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The case is so small, it seems wrong after lugging around my violin for all these years….and I don;’t have to tune everytime I get the thing out….and, just, wow. It’s amazing.
204 – Nope. I think a bunch of highschoolers do though.
*joins cult*
204/206
8BBB I’m going to Taste of Chaos next week, I think Avenged Sevenfold will be there? I’m going for D’espairsRay and Mucc mostly, I don’t know if we’re going to stay to hear them. In any case, I find it very strange someone wouldn’t have hear of them, they’re a pretty popular band aren’t they?
207 – O.O LUCKYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
If you can stay, stay. They are really good.
Yeah, but not a lot of people I know like metal. xDD
And.
I’m.
Going to my first rock concert.
Although they aren’t really rock. More just alternative.
But near the end of the month.
I’M GONNA SEE PANIC AT THE DISCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sooooo excited!!!
208
I’m sure we’ll still hear them since we’re gonna be in the venue, but I gotta buy merch and line up for the signing and everything XD
I just hope I don’t get sucked into a mosh pit or anything lolol. I’ve been to the Long Beach Arena before (for S.K.I.N. which was amazing omsgjksgh) but there were seats even if no one used them, and I dunno how it’s going to be set up on Thursday. I will tell everyone about it when I get back though!
There’s nothing like seeing your favorite band, huh? I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of bands I like, and that is pretty amazing considering the stuff I’m into haha
I hope you have fun at your concert though~
Some of the music survived the fire!!! O.O Including my beloved “Nonesuch for Dulcimer.”
I’m considering taking up violin. If only I had money…
Guess who went to the avril lavigne/ boyslike girl concert when it was in (insert name of greekgurl’s city here)?????? yes, me!! it was freakin (can we say that here?) awesome.
210- the violin can make music but the viola rocks.
208- WHERE?!!?!?!?!?!!??!? im assuming you’ve hear “9 in the afternoon?” who hasn’t?
i just bought a new CD yesterday….it was “stay human”.
210~ Yes!! Come swell our ranks of violin players!!! Would you play some historical music? As I know you are quite fond of the colonial period and (I’m assuming) their music. I think I remember that you are at least aware of some of the music from that time period as one of your posts you said something about listening to “The Death Of General Wolfe”- a song from the French and Indian War.
21~ Yes, the viola is a beautiful instrument, I’ll never disagree with that, but there is nothing wron with the violin!! It’s also a beautiful instrument. Really though, any muic played well is good.
The pit music for anything goes.
Is.
Death.
Miiiight get to go see Modest Mouse. I hope so…
211 – Where? North Carolina. On the 27th. Yup, I have Pretty.Odd. So awesome.
You say Avril and Boys Like Girls? Cooool.
PATD isn’t my favorite band, but I like them a lot and am extremely excited.
213- But I can’t PAY for a violin and violin lessons.
Luckily, I’m going to apply for a job at the bakery, and the bakery people seemed thrilled. So I’m excited. And if I do get a job, then I’ll be able to pay for a violin and violin lessons and tallship programs and theater trips and…. *pants*
But yes, I love music from that time period.
217~ You might ask for a bit of parental help? If you do start playing though, start on the best insrument you can get- nothing is more discouraging than an awful instrument to learn on.
218- The parents can’t afford it either. PLUS, I already tried violin once and gave it up, so that’s not terribly encouraging to them.
219~ Hmm, bummer. An okay beginner instrument is a few hundred dollars, and that can be with a bow and case as well. then there’s the thought of lessons. I’d really recommend lessons for the violin, since it’s too easy to develop bad habits on it. (Holding the bow, etc. is something that you don’t want to learn from a book.)
And, if you tried violin already, (I don’t know how old you were) then you might have a good start on it. Good luck!
220- The violin would be pretty cheap if I was renting it; my uncle works at an instrument-rental place and we’ve always got our instruments really cheap ’cause of that. The lessons, on the other hand, are 25 dollars each. *dies*
I was eight. I never practiced, so I never got further than playing “Twinkle, twinkle, little star.” But now that I’m fourteen and far more responsible and far more in love with fiddle music, I think I can do it.
Holding the bow was always an issue for me. I’m not sure, though, I think if I picked up a violin now, I have a pretty good chance of holding the bow correctly, even if I can’t make it play a tune.
I would do music at the school, which would cut the cost of lessons, but I don’t like the music teacher’s attitude, which is that if I haven’t already taken music, then I probably won’t be any good at it.
Current Music Obsession: Linkin Park.
What I’ve Done, Crawling, Numb, Numb/Encore, Bleed It Out, Faint, In The End, Shadow of the Day…
I luv ’em all.
TASTE OF CHAOS WAS INSANITY
as you might deduce. lollllll
I will write more when I have my wits about me, kind of disoriented and afdjhgajk Mucc signed my magazine I have a signed poster ommmgadh
222- i don’t usualy like them, but you just named their best songs of about hundreds. way to go!!!! and i just got into listening to Franz Ferdinand. my favorite was Dark of the Matinee. it was shweeeeet!!!!!!!!!
216- They have some good hits. “I write sins not tradgedies” isn’t too bad.
217- doesn’t your school offer it?
222- Shadow of te da gets my vote.
222 – Meteora is their best album, I think. My favorite songs are Easier To Run and Numb…
223 – Awesomeness. I wanna hear about it…
I am going through a strange obsession with Cobra Starship. Including Snakes On a Plane (although it doesn’t entirely count), I know 4 of their songs, and have 2. Heh. Dancey songs!
I got Icky Thump. I like it a lot. ^_^ Better than White Blood Cells, but The White Stripes never hold my attention for very long..
224-ha, that’s my favorite franz ferdinand song! auf achse is good too
226-we’re trying to get johnson to let us play conquest next year for band although i doubt it’s out yet so we probably won’t
okay here goes! prepate for an account extremely biased to japanese rock lolol
We got there around four I think, and joined the rest of our group. We waited for a little while, until maybe 4:20 and then the band that won a contest to be a warm up band played. They were called Planes Crash and they were pretty good, they got everyone excited and all that. Then there was another warm up type band which kind of made everyone restless since they weren’t as good lolll. BUt after that D’espairsRay came on and IT WAS CRAZY
So I don’t know what concerts you all have/haven’t been to but the concerts I’ve gone to previously consisted of only jrock bands or a singel jrock band. I wasn’t expecting to be so close together at the get go, but once D’espa came on it was insane. Everyone surged forward and back and in and whaoooo. It died down a little but man was that something. They played four songs, I only remember Trickster and another with a perhaps not blog appropriate name lolol. It was so awesome to hear them live though. Hizumi’s voice was so good…
After them was Idiot Pilot I believe, which no one seemed to like but I thought they were pretty good, if kind of out of place with the music being played. Then Mucc came on and I love Mucc so much more now. Of course it was maybe halfway trough their set that me and one person from our group got sucked into a vortex. And by that I mean moshing broke out and we couldn’t get away from it and oooohhfhasdkag he had to sheild me from it it was so scary. Like I am a little four foot eleven inches girl on a good day, I can’t handle these huge crazy old guys running around in circles trying to kill each other.
ANYWAYY Mucc was awesome beyond anything, I know they played FUZZ and Libra but other than that I dunno. After them was The Underneath, and I know they played Gekkoh but we had to leave during their set cause we ended up so far back and got tired of the moshing. And I think BlessTheFall or something played after, but I am not really in touch with that music scene. I DO know that probably 90% of the people in the audience around us were there for Avenged Sevenfold, based on their reaction to one of the bands asking who was excited for them. And I gotta say, I was really impressed with how into it everyone got for the Japanese bands. That is really something.
Then we left for the signing and afkdjgdakjgs;bfsdb we got to shake hands with them. I DIEDDDD. LIKE DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS TO ME. AUGGGGGHHHHHHHHH.
Yeah so besides almost suffocating and being enveloped on all sides at all times and all that good stuff, it was awesome XDDD
I lovelovelove Loose Lips by Kimya Dawson even though it is a lot more sweary than I usually tolerate. It’s just so amazing!!!
loose lips might sink ships but loose kisses take trips
to san francisco, double dutch disco,
tech tv hottie, do it for scotty
do it for the living and do it for the dead
do it for the monsters under your bed
do it for the teenagers and do it for your mom
broken hearts hurt but they make us strong and
we won’t stop until somebody calls the cops
and even then we’ll start again and just pretend that
nothing ever happened

I like:
Hey Jude by the Beatles
Jurassic Park by Weird Al
White and Nerdy by Weird Al
Star Wars Cantina by Weird Al
The Saga Begins by Weird Al
Yesterday by the Beatles
A ton of other songs by Weird Al
Hello Goodbye by the Beatles
Some other songs by the Beatles
Etc…
My favorite music is Weimar Republic Cabaret. I also like the Beatles, Sting, Simon and Garfunkel, and a bunch of others. I am no fan of new music, in general.
So I’m listening to the Bridies, and that person who doesn’t actually exists goes and puts on 8 and 1/2 Souvenirs. *sigh* Odd mixture.
I went to an Evalyn Parry Concert on Saturday night, if you don’t know who Evalyn Parry is look her up on iTunes. She has a rather popular song on how bottled water is bogus! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I’m listening to Jurassic Park by Weird Al. It’s hilarious.
copied from somewhere else cuz ebeth is lazy
So, concert time!
megan couldn’t go, but bill decided to come at the last minute, so the numbers worked out. so it was me, andy (the bf), cheese, bill, HEWT, devin, and matt e, and then we also saw eric, his gf erin, tory, and a kid named zach that i knew from my chem class. it was at the pavilion, but they moved it inside because it was raining (oh, ohio). we were in the pit the entire time, but nobody was moshing (except a little bit during switches)
the first band was the whiles, from columbus. as soon as they started i was like “oh god, one of those bands†because it sounded potentially ridiculous, but as the song went on it kind of grew on me. after the first song and a half or so i thought they were ok, not great but not bad. Then they kept going, which was their mistake. They got progressively more country and more ridiculous. The singer, in a desperate effort to preserve some semblance of anything remotely hardcore, interspersed everything with random screaming (which he could not pull off at all), creating what HEWT termed “screamo countryâ€
The second band made up for it. Zox was SWEET, they were from rhode island i think, and we ended up buying their cds (well i didn’t, others did and i’m stealing them XD). they had an electric violin that was really amazing, and they had a kickass bassist and a fairly good drummer, and everything was pretty well balanced in terms of sound, nobody really took over the stage. everyone was thrilled to hear them after the whiles, so it was pretty fun
The third band was british, from london. they were called the duke spirit, and the singer was good but everything else felt like it was just there for background. all the guitar/bass/drums sounded very standard and boring, and the singer was the only one with any personality. also, there were a few times where she played a tinny little harmonica…not a bad idea, but get a better harmonica, really, and she played right into the mic so it drowned out everything else (not that they were doing anything exciting anyway).
next was SWITCHES, which was the band we had gone to see. the crowd really liked them, they played a lot of really good songs and stuff. the singer was SO drunk though. it was funny, but at the same time they sounded worse for it. there was one point where he took his guitar off and started spinning it around him, jumping over the cord, and then he knocked down the microphone stand and fell down. so he spent the next ten minutes on the floor tuning his guitar. it was kind of sad, actually. they did play pretty well though, and they have really good music. there was a bit of moshing here, and a lot of headbanging and dancing around, which was fun. devin (bwle from LLL) waited around afterwards to get his cd signed and also got a (free) poster signed for ebeth
next was the whigs. they were really good, but after switches everybody was just kind of like “ok…good i guess†if they had gone earlier i think people would have liked them more. everybody had ingested a little more alcohol at this point (not us, they’re pretty strict about underage drinking there) so people were pretty loosened up. more dancing around and suchlike. the whigs again were pretty well balanced, fit together etc. it was good music, headbanging but in a swaying kind of way. slow at times but a good beat and they could rock out pretty well when they wanted to.
we left before von iva, cheese said they weren’t that good and we were all kind of tired. (we had been standing for about five hours straight at this point). devin and matt e stayed, and cheese and HEWT had to go home, but the rest of us went to bill’s, ate ramen, hung out, and then went home around 11:30
I got Meteora for my birthday, along with a Linkin Park shirt from Hot Topic.
Yay!
153- I love Bela Fleck! I got an album by mistake from the library
240-XD the bassist is SWEET
going to see HMS pinafore tomorrow. gilbert and sullivan FTW!
Yay music!!! I have recently acquired an undeniable obsession for My Chemical Romance, its incurable!!! I also LOVE afi, and Panic at the Disco!!! So exciting…..
242- YAY! =D
I got the Sick Puppies album: Dressed Up As Life. It’s really, really good. Some of the songs have more bass guitar than I am used to, and I kinda like that. Awesomenes..
242 – Um. You have exactly the same taste in music as my friend.
BEATLES!
And Fleetwood Mac, and The Bobs, and The Roches, and this one Jethro Tull CD, and the Spamalot soundtrack.
244-Well I am kind of twisted. You see I absolutely adore the Beatles, Carol Kind, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and just LOVE oldies in general, but I also love MCR, AFI, Panic at the Disco, 30 seconds to Mars etc….its very strange. I also like Vanessa Carlton and just learned how to play White Houses on the piano (YAY!). Anyway, just to clarify.
Speaking of, does anyone know of any good bands that are similar to MCR, AFI, 30 seconds to Mars, etc? Just wondering.
OH, and does anyone know of any easy-ish piano books with MCR or AFI or what not songs in them? I have looked everywhere on the internet, and have found NOTHING besides free sheet music which I am pretty sure is illegal. HELP ME PLEASE!!!
245 – I’m pretty sure you can get a piano book for the songs on A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, and there’s Nickelback ones too but I don’t know if you like them…
I know a ton of alternative bands, but they vary in sound…no idea what you might like. I’ve recently fallen in love with Blue October. Goldfinger, of course. *shrugs*
Sick Puppies is GRUNGE.
I AM SO HAPPY! I WAS WORRIED THAT GRUNGE WAS DEAD BUT IT’S NOT! YAAAAAY!
Yup.
245-about half the popular bands that exist at the moment
oh wait you wanted good bands. sorry.
so it’s official, my ipod is out of space
246- Thanks!!!
247-At least you have a working ipod. My dad dropped mine in water, so its broken, and now I have to save up for a new one. But I feel your pain!
Ok guys, if you havnt seen Helena by MCR, the video is really good!!! Its on youtube!!!
My ipod has been freezing up ever since my brother added a bunch of music to it. It’s kind of old too (it’s his old one, actually!) but it’s nice to be able to put a few videos and whatnot on there.
I hate my Mp3. It sucks. The volume is broken, it freezes up, I can’t download any more music… blech.
W00t! Today Goldfinger’s new CD Hello Destiny is coming out!
*starts bouncing up and down like a crazy person*
I love Cobra Starship.
I also recently downloaded Wicked Game by Three Days Grace (which is a cover, but I’ve never heard the original) and it’s gorgeous…
i was HORRIFIED when i found out Queen was going on a reunion tour with a new singer. because i don’t keep myself updated (i didn’t expect them to do anything with freddie mercury dead and all) i didn’t know they had been collaborating with the guy since, i think it was 2005. in case anyone hasn’t caught the reference in my name (queen of mercury…queen…mercury…GET IT?!), i absolutely LOVE Queen, and i LOVE freddie mercury even more, but this new singer just…blegh! freddie mercury had a recognizable voice and gave the band a unique sound, but the new guy makes the songs sound like a bad cover, even though it’s the same band.
my friend’s mom started yelling at me for not liking steve winwood when i was complaining to my friend about it…her parents scare me.
new flight of the conchords cd! stealing it from devin first chance i get (probably tomorrow)
in other news, ebeth really hates her part in pit for anything goes. it is rather ridiculous, and involves a lot of screechingly high notes (I. Hate. High. D’s. i can play them about half the time, which is the worst because if i could play them i’d have no problem, and if i couldn’t i would just take them all down an octave. but i always think “hmm, can i get it, can i get it?” and then sometimes i do and sometimes i don’t) and really fast scale-y things, which suck because ebeth’s fingers and brain do not coordinate that well. Sharps are also an issue, when there are freaking 6 of them and ebeth has to go through and change half of them to flats so she can at least pretend to comprehend the key.
ah, pit
233, 237- weird al rocks!!!!!!!!
my fav is eBAY
254 – Yes, eBay is a very good song. Weird Al is a genius! Hve you heard The Saga Begins?
i just heard smells like nirvana for the first time. funny song
weird al is coming again over the summer, but idk if i’ll go. the first time it was at the fair and it was too expensive because the fair basically drives you to bankruptcy. that plus i was like “for weird al…eh…no” he’s funny and all, but not like “OMGMUSTSEEoneoneone”
I ♥ The Beatles and Queen. The Beatles changed the world so much! My favorite song by Weird Al is The Saga Begins! I have 200 Beatles songs, and 30 Queen songs on my iPod ( I got them all from my cds! You guys should see Tears for Fears. They’re a great band (I like the song Mad World) so is Julian Lennon (John Lennon’s son, his best song is To Late for Goodbyes). Rolling Stones magazine rated Sergent Pepper (The Beatles) the best rock album of all time! I have the cd. But I think Revolver’s (The Beatles) is the best.
BEATLES!!!! YAY!!!! I like Hey Jude, Yesterday, Hello Goodbye, Help…
256 – Ah, I saw him last year and it was AWESOME. It was a reallyreally good concert.
I saw Honda Civic Tour on Sunday.
.
Oh gosh…so far, that was the best night of my life.
I am in love with Motion City Soundtrack right now.
Kimya Dawson is amazing!!!
She has a lot of songs in Juno.
I was quiet as a mouse
when i snuck into your house
and took roofies with your spouse
in a nit and out a louse
lice are lousy all the time
they suck your blood drink your wine
say shut up and quit your crying
give it time and you’ll be fine
You’re so nice and you’re so smart
You’re such a good friend i have to break your heart
Tell you that i love you then i’ll tear your world apart
Just pretend i didn’t tear your world apart
Last weekend I took the concertina with me to an event and got to play music with some of my friends. It was such fun, and I must have done pretty well, because Paul threatened to break my fingers– he said I was learning too much too fast and needed to be stopped, or at least slowed down. Oh well, not to brag or anything…..
BEATLES. *bows deeply* Your songs are infectious, my dear men.
DUDE
flight of the conchords is going to be here
but i will have no money because of prom
and it is the opening night of the musical
which, by the way, is in two weeks and not doing well on the pit orchestra front
OMG Paramore came to Massachusetts and I MISSED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am listening to Nathalie by Gilbert Becaud right now…over and over again. I love French chansons!
some friends of mine are going to an MCR concert tonight. still pondering whether or not to disown them…lol
in other news, i got the soundtracks to pirates 2 and 3 and some van canto and tuatha de danaan. happy happy joy
Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day by Clay Aiken… very nice.
264 – *sympathy* They aren’t coming here on any of their tours…
266 – MCR concert…ooooo…heh heh……
Meg & Dia…there’s so many songs that you can only find on the internet (as far as I can tell). It’s kinda annoying…so maybe the only way you can get them is illegally? Or on the brink of illegally.
HA! 59- your pyramid is very close to mine. here is mine abreviated.
Thin Lizzy.
Hendrix, Van halen,
The white stripes, The ramones, Ozzy.
the Offspring, The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen, And the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
sorry to 2post but i forgot Wolfmother on my 2nd tier from the top
269/270-*applause* who are you? well, we’re officially friends. *pies*
i should really get over to the newbies thread and figure out who’s who, shouldn’t i?
I got a couple of CDs…neither of which I have listened to all the way through yet.
The first is Scream by Tokio Hotel, which isn’t all that great but isn’t bad either. :/
The second is Karma and Effect by Seether, which is of course awesome.
methinks it is new music thread time, seeing as this one started in january and is now almost impossible to find, even with the search
unless nobody cares about music any more…?
People: Go to a well known video website *coughyoutubecough* and search for “string fever, bolero” and watch it. It’s a hilarious video of four musician’s playing Bolero on one cello. It’s amazing!
I miss this thread too. It takes over 5 pages into the search to get to it, which is sad. And we’re almost at 300… and we’re over a third through the year… please?
My Recommendations:
Blackmore’s Night- Under a violet moon
ABBA
And all this russian music most of u wont be interested in.
Clarissa introduced me to a lot of bands that I’m now, like, obsessed with…
MCR (I knew about them, and had Teenagers, but I didn’t think they were that good until I heard Disenchanted)
Mindless Self Indulgence (They’re crazy. It’s like, acid punk or something. The song Never Wanted to Dance is hilarious, and the remix is amazing)
Blink-182 (I can creep out anyone with the lyrics of I Miss You if I do it right)
That’s about it for the really ggood ones, but still. I bought Cemetery Dive and Famous Last Words a few days ago and I can’t get enough.
278 – MSI!
At first I didn’t really like them, but now I do. It’s Elizabeth (ChemicalExperiment)’s fault. She likes more than me.
Of course MCR is amazing. …Yeah..
As for Blink-182, they’re okay.
Kinda obsessing over The Used, or a little. I got their first album. It’s really good…
279-Katy introduced me to The Used, Breaking Benjamin, and Katy Perry.
Go look up I Kissed A Girl. Talk about amazing…
MSI really is awesome though. You’ll Rebel to Anything (As Long as It’s Not Challenging) is hilarious.
We had a chorus concert last Thursday. It went pretty well; we didn’t even mess up “Shenandoah.” But now I’m never going to be in chorus again. *sniff*
I know this is kinda long, but this is my solo and I want you to read it!
There’s a great new craze
That’s sweeping the nation,
Come on, do the circulation!
Starts with your heart,
what a great sensation
Come on, do the circulation!
Out through your arteries,
in through your veins
your heart pumps the blood
then does it again.
Some come on everyone
Get it one everyone,
Circulation!
Some come on, everybody,
exercise your body
for circulation!
Circulation, everybody form a circle now
Yeah, do it! Circulate!
Like your blood,
You just start moving around.
Circulation! It’s a function that’s so out of sight
And if your feet fall asleep then
You’re not circulatin’ right.
You’ve four heart parts to pump the blood
Lub-dub! Yeah, that’s circulation!
Left and right ventricle
Left and right atrium
Yeah, they do it! They circulate!
The bring blood to your heart for oxygen
And your arteries take it through to your body
And your veins bring the old blood back
To be renewed!
Circulation!
Takes nutrition to your cells
And gets rid of
Carbon dioxide and waste as well.
Circulation! It’s a function that’s so out of sight
And if your hands are cold then
You’re not circulatin’ right.
Well the blood is such a life givin’ potion
Like a river it’s always in motion
From your head to your toes
Doin’ good as it goes
It’s a big, red, beautiful ocean!
There’s a great new craze
That’s sweeping the nation,
Come on, do the circulation!
Starts with your heart,
what a great sensation
Come on, do the circulation!
Out through your arteries,
in through your veins
your heart pumps the blood
then does it again.
So come on everybody
Get it on everybody
Circulation!
So come on everybody
Get it on everybody
Circulation!
The circulation! YEAH!
It’s for Schoolhouse Rock
I had a chorus concert last Saturday. It was this big Fine Arts festival at a highschool. We sang “Oh Music”, “Shake the Papaya Down”, “Ashlosha” (I think that’s how you spell it), and “Oye La Musica” We were singing with like, 4 other schools.
282 –
Music? I like Weird Al.
I ♥ the Beatles.
283 – I sang “Oye la Musica” this fall with chorus. I still remember the alto part that we absolutely could not hold.
Our chourus teacher was yelling at us part twos because we just wouldn’t go low for the part, we ALWAYS get the worst parts. It’s so boring to be a part two. I’m not even supposed to be a part two! She promised to do a cartwheel if we got it right. And guess what, she did one!
283- do you mean “al shlosha”? maybe?
286- are you an alto two or soprano two? I’m an alto two and our notes are often impossible. Even so, I often find the alto part too high, but for our new song the alto part is good and low.
I would love to see my choir teacher do a cartwheel…..
We’ve already gotten him to do summersaults, a wheelbarrow race, and hop on one foot.
I got a CD called Dookin’ by the Battlefield Band. Has anyone else heard of them? If not, look them up, they’re pretty good. They play contemporary Scottish music.
287 – The song is 3 parts (soprano, alto, baritone), but the music just calls them parts 1, 2, and 3. Actually, it breaks into 4 parts at the end, but that’s beside the point.
286 – Well, we didn’t have to go really low where it was in 4 parts (she had a small group do that), so the range was comfortable, but we still couldn’t hold our parts. My chorus director has the girls alternate what part we sing.
Last concert we sang (and my part on each):
Who put the bomp? – soprano
Shenandoah – alto
Louez le Seigneur – tenor (but it was a high tenor, more of an alto range)
May Our Paths Meet Again – soprano
Love Train – alto
289- I’m so glad my choir director doesn’t make us alternate. I could never ever ever ever ever sing soprano in the right octave.
290 – It’s expanded my range quite a bit. I couldn’t sing many alto parts in sixth grade at all, and now I’m comfortable singing the tenor part of Louez, although I wasn’t so comfortable with the baritone part of “America the Beautiful” in the fall concert.
291- that’s cool. I would love to expand my range, but I don’t have the time to devote to it.
Ha, now I’m obsessed with Mindless Self Indulgence.
Listening to the stuff off of If..freaking amazing. Wow.
Oh, yes! Oh YES!!!!
Yesterday we finished all our performences! After the first one, we jumped around backstage screaming. I was an Elvis impersonator even though I am a girl! (And I did not dye my hair from blond to black and gel it up.)
Well for the concert we just had, our director had us do part one!
We just call it part two. I mean yeah it’s soprano and alto and all that, but we just call it all part two. Has anybody ever done “Play for Me a Simple Melody”?
I like Sara Bareilles! Love Song and Fairytale are my favorites.
Love Song is pretty good. She is a great singer.
293-Yay! They’re really awesome. Jimmy Urine hasn’t met a cuss word he dosn’t like.
The Birthday Massacre is also really good. Goodnight is my favorite song from them, but Kill the Lights and Walking with Strangers and To Die For aren’t that bad either.
I’m going to be singing in a choir next fall. I wanted to join a few years ago, but the director said I was too young, but now I can! I’ll probably sing 1st alto or 2nd soprano.
Does anyone know the band Eyes Set to Kill? I want to look stuff up from them, but I’m not going to if they’re not any good.
I recommend Sara Bareilles! Love Song, City, Many the Miles, One Sweet Love, Fairytale, Bottle It Up, Morningside, Gravity, Come Round Soon, Vegas, Between the Lines, and Love on the Rocks. Really nice! (Note: on that famous video website, make sure the publisher is sarabareilles, not anyone else. Those have the best quality!)
295-Beatlesrockr, I actually learned that song at camp (if we’re referring to the same one, that is!). Its quite a sweet tune.
At this moment, I am listening to Sting, and about to switch to Gilbert Becaud, Marlene Dietrich, Lotte Lenya, or Elvis Presley depending on what fancy seizes me (and what I predict will abett my studying the most!).
I had a piano concert on Friday. It went decently, except my fingers are annoyingly clumsy, particularly when I am nervous. As a result, stuff to sounds a little more choppy when I perform it. Ah well! T’was fun, all the same…*trails off*
302- the first part of the lyrics go
“Won’t you play a simple melody?
Like my mother sand to me
One with good old fashioned harmony”
303-The very same! I hum it compulsively!
304- so do I!
305-Its rather a catchy tune, n’est-ce pas?
Is this thread is getting lloooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggg , or is it just me?
I was listening to my friends music yesterday…..we vary in tase quite a bit, but I actually liked some of it, and se liked what she heard of Bonnie Raitt and the Battlefield Band!
I got to hear some Flogging Molly, Bright eyes, Panic! at the Disco and some others that I can’t remember right now….lol, we’re a weird pair of friends, we disagree on almost everything, but not, at the same time. Did that make sense? Oh well, I’m tired….I’d better go now.
flogging molly is good. i’m going to see them right after band camp. bright eyes is not my fav…i didn’t really like the singer. haven’t heard enough p!atd
i got a hard day’s night (movie) on my ipod. beatles+comedy=epic win
still have to go through the MM from jade (hello) and i have to get the new fratellis from devin
got some marching stuff in the mail…we’re doing a stevie wonder mix apparently. we did sir duke a couple years ago and people loved it even though we kind of sucked, but y’know
308~ Umm, Conor Oberst always seems to sound out of tune when he sings. The music itself wouldn’t be too bad, but his singing is hard to take, ugh. Besides, Danielle thinks he’s hot, NONONONONO!!!!!!!! This is one of the things we disagree on ALL the time…..
I’m a fan of Bright Eyes myself…lol I fail to understand why his stuff is so often labeled “emo” but whatever it’s not like it really matters
I’ve been listening to Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens a lot recently. Still need to plow through the rest of the music my brother gave me.
The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. Buy it. The one by Andrew Lloyd Weber. Buy it now.
I’ve got We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel almost memorized.
I like Tv on the Radio. And the Go! Team.
308. A hard day’s night is hillarious. I love poking fun at the groupies. HA!
I love A Hard Days Night, and Help! Help! is more funny though.
“Hey, Paul, who’s that little old man?”
“That’s me grandfather”
“I’ve seen your grandfather, that’s not him”
“No, thats me other grandfather. Everyones entitled to two aren’t they?”
“Why’s he here?”
“Me mom says the trip’ll do ‘im good, he’s nursin’ a broken heart”
“IAh, poor ol’ thing. Hey Mr. are you nursing a broken heart?
*Grandfather glares at John*
“He’s a nice ol man ain’t he”
“He’s very, clean”
*John comes to sit next to grandfather*
“Ello grandfather!
“Hello,”
“So he can talk then can’t he?”
“Course He can talk, he’s a human being isn’t he?”
“Well, if he’s your grandfather who knows?”
*Ringo laughs at his own joke*
Okay, I kept that short, I left out a tiny bit.
don’t worry, the reason they keep calling him “clean” is that he was apparently in some sitcom where he was always dirty
I like All Around Me by Flyleaf and the Wicked broadway soundtrack. Idina Menzel is a great singer! (she is supposed to be singing)
6- didn’t yo-yo ma play violin?
316 – No, he played the cello.
310~ I like the song “I must belong somewhere”, and a few others. I like the instrumental parts, but his singing is sometimes annoying.
Does anyone else like Fleetwood Mac?
Dreams is the best song EVER.
311 – Me too!
My English/History teacher, who is AWESOME but school ended so she’s not my teacher anymore, gave us 8th grade soundtracks of all the songs we listened to in class and liked! Because we watch musicals and Schoolhouse Rock and she finds songs relating to whatever we’re studying.
Newsies is my new favorite musical. Go watch it now.
The World Will Know!
I discovered Elis and Naio Ssaion on MO. They’re amazing. Both are kind of gothic metal. Elis has songs in both German and English (and sometimes both) and Naio Ssaion includes an electric VIOLIN in their songs.
I’m listening to Der Letze Tag, whatever that means.
320~ Electric violins are wonderful!, I’d like to get one someday (!!!) because of the silent practice function. Violins in rock music are interesting, there are these great sound effects that you can get with a string instruments that one doesn’t generally make in other genres.
I really like the violin and guitar in Bright Eyes, actually, despite not being too crazy about the rest.
ZOX has an electric violin. he was SWEET live. i ranted about them earlier in this thread. or in an earlier thread, i don’t remember.
anyway, the electric violin is amazing.
we have a couple at the school…we have an electric strings kind of group thing. electric violin, viola, and a bass guitar. and drums. but they can’t rival jazz band, despite their electrocity. for they are directed by the Evil One.
mr j was in the band room today doing a drum sectional, so hewitt and i went in there during breaks for health and annoyed him, hoping he’d send us off for a pina colada like he did with devin. but no luck.
322~ Look up Stringfever!! they play all electric string instruments, and they’re funny and British to boot! Look them up on YouTube and watch….it’s great.
*coughElvenkingcough*
Yeah, electric violins seem pretty awesome. I think Eluveitie has one also.
An electric flute might end up being a rather paiful experience. I don’t think it’d work with wind instruments anyway, but especially not metal ones.
O n that certain video website, enter in Stick it to Dolores – Harry and the Potters- HP and Save Ginny Weasley From Dean Thomas and click the animated one on the second one. Harry and the Potters ROCK!!!
325-i prefer draco and the malfoys. much funnier
324-EK! i’m WAY excited for the acoustic stuff, it should be great
323-will do! they sound sweet already, just from the description. string, electric, AND british? too good to be true!
322 – At my school we’ve had people playing electric violin, electric anonymous plastic wind instrument that looks sort of like a clarinet, and electric trumpet (you stick a thing in the bell of a trumpet and hook it up to an amp) as well as traditional electric instruments (guitar, bass, keyboard, etc).
326~ And some of them are rather good looking too. *gasps and faints dead away* well, maybe not that bad…..
327~ Electric trumpet?!?! Heavens forbid, that instrument is loud enough as it is, no amplification is really necessary!
328-my uncle has a trumpet that he can hook up to headphones to hear himself play instead of actually making sound come out. that way he can mess with it without annoying the neighbors (he lives in an apartment)
329~ That’s cool. What I don’t get is having a trumpet hooked up to an amp…wow.
