HAHAH!!
Greekgurl-it’s the 29th you will be in DC? We should try to plan around when farther away people will be here…
Red-tailed HAWK
Aww, no first post for me. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten one.
West Coast Kokonvention!
I live on the other side of the country. Darn.
3 – As in…west coast!?
4- Yes. I live in the other Washington. The one on the west coast.
We should have a Chicago Kokonvention.
5-Wow! Cat’s meow does, as does Alice, sometimes, I’m not sure exactly right now. They are always complaining that nobody lives out there (that reads Muse)
Red-tailed HAWK
5 – HOORAY! I think that makes 3 Musers in Washington. Eastern or western Washington? (If you’re okay with saying)
(Sorry for the double post)
7 – Who, me? But yes, it’s true…we’ve been pushing for a West Coast/Washington Kokonvention for what feels like years.
Pittsburgh, anyone?
Traveling anywhere farther than an hour or so isn’t going to happen for us anytime soon, though we may be able to stop somewhere on the way to Michigan this summer. We’re also probably going “out west” sometime this summer, though my dad hasn’t decided where “out west” we’re going yet.
8- Eastern.
I thought we were planning on a Spy Museum kokonvention in DC?
6- YES!
meh. i would come to a new york one, but anything else i think im too lazy to do. spy museum is awesome though, ive been there at least twice.
I could probably convince someone to drive me out to Eastern Washington if necessary.
I’m to going to Chicago this summer.
Boston?
10=Pittsburgh isn’t too far for me. I’m about an hour and a half from everywhere. Cleveland, Akron, Pittsburgh.
I want to meet Beavo. Beavo where are you?
I would probably have the dumb luck of having no way to get to the meeting place on Kokon day…
me:Hey mom can we go to the museum on Saturday?
Mom:We can go in a few weeks, I’m busy.
Me: Grrrr…*calls dad* Hey dad can we go to the museum on Saturday?
Dad: I crashed my bike again. Maybe in a few weeks.
Me: Grrrr…
My mom is always busy with work and my dad is pretty neat with taking me out but he always gets hurt. Every year he has at least 1 major bike crash and 1 major illness. He already had the crash and is having the sickness right now, which is why I’m not at his house.
At the end of this year I will get my driver’s license. I will then be able to lurk in the museums in major cities wearing HPB shirts and waiting for someone to talk to me.
8- My grandma lives in the eastern bit of Washington, so if I’m there I can ko konvene to. Or I might move to the western bit. Or I might move to DC. Currently looks like wherever I move I get to go to a ko konvention!
(17)
Museum Guard #1: Hey, check out the kid in the bunny shirt.
Museum Guard #2: Yeah, we get a lot of those.
Guard #1: You’re kidding. Kids in bunny shirts?
Guard #2: Yeah, they’re always in here, hanging around for hours, like they’re, I dunno, looking for something.
Guard #1: Should we do something about it?
Guard #2: Nah, I figure they’re mostly harmless.
Hmm. Perhaps I need to add some items to my own Musewear collection before I go to the NC Museum Council meeting in March….
My mom is pushing for Chicago or Cleveland because she says I can’t go to DC b/c we’re saving up for my bat mitzvah. Which makes sense. And I think Chicago would be the prime choice because of the proximity to the offices which we could hang out in and read back issues. Pliz? And as for the date President’s Day Weekend would work out nicely. And there’s the map exibit at the Field Museum which is very Muserly. Actually, there’s also the Planetarium, Art Institute, and Science and Industry Museum too. All great places for a Kokon. So?
19 – Actually, once an airport security guard said that I seemed mostly harmless.
(22) He was righter than he knew.
(21) As it happens, I’ll be in Chicago at the end of the month — January 30 and 31. I’d been planning to drive up into Wisconsin after that to visit Ruth and Andy and some other friends, weather permitting, but I suppose I could stick around for the weekend. If we do have a Kokonvention, D.C. rules will apply: everyone must bring at least one parent, and parents must e-mail me first (at gapa @ musefanpage.com).
ARGH! Can we have ANOTHER Chicago kokon in the summer? P*ease?
22-Tehehe.
I might make it to a Boston or a NY one, but it depends on the date and stuff.
19-Ha!
23-Would the parents have to stay the whole time? Mine would probably tell me to meet them somewhere and wander away with my sister after deciding that the group is mostly harmless. They would still be in the place and be able to call my phone and stuff, but my sister is a spoiled brat and would say that I was dragging her along with my friends, which means no Kokon for me if she doesn’t get her way.
Unintended Pun: Meet…meet me? Moi? *passes out* *revives* I live near Washington DC, about forty five minutes (when the traffic isn’t to horrible).
Which it usually is.
Why’d you wanna meet me anyway? I’m boring, really. And now that I got my hair under control (it dosn’t look too explosive anymore, it’s actually straight!) I look boring too.
(27, Beavo) Boring? A MuseBlogger? I think not. ‘Tis a contradiction in terms.
23- the next time im anywhere near washington i will not have a parent.
anywhere in NY is good with me but im not very close to the big Snackfood (im tired of people calling it the big Apple)
27- Hey! My cousin lives near there i think…. is it by the giant Wegmans?
27- You’re not boring.
28-Well, okay, I’m not exactly boring. But I’m not the most colorful of MuseBloggers.
29-What do you mean by ‘it’? I certainly don’t live near a giant Wegmans.
31-by “it” i meant your town. Actually my cousin lives about half an hour from DC and she’s pretty close to a giant, three-floor, Wegmans with their own winery.
11 – Hooray! Me too!
18 – Washington! ^_^
Okay, here’s the update…I live in eastern Washington. I’m probably NOT going to be able to go to western Washington…see, there was this math competition that I was going to go to near Seattle, but apparently I can’t (I’ll post details on the random thread or something) so if I can’t go for a math competition I probably won’t be able to go for a Kokonvention. So if we DO have a Washington Kokonvention -hope, hope- then it should probably be in eastern Washington, where a lot of MBers apparently are anyways.
Beavo-I don’t know. You seem really nice on the blog and you are pretty interesting. I usually think of you and Alice when I talk about the blog because you’re always on the same threads as me.
My mom was talking about going to Washington DC, but I don’t think we are. If we do I’m going to drag her and my sister through all the Smithsonians. I won’t leave until I do.
I live pretty close to where a lot of people get shot.
Highest murder rate per capita in the US. Not my town, but the one next to it. Usually I just say that’s where I’m from because people know where it is.
34 – Yeah, it’s sort of the same for me. Alice and PC are on most of the threads that I go on, and then some other people like RtH and Beavo (just as examples! I love you all!) are on nearly EVERY thread, it seems. ^_^
Robert (23): Are you passing through Pittsburgh on your way to/from Chicago? *hintwinkhint*
Hmm well I think I’m one of the only MBers in California. also doubt anyone here particularly wants to meet me lolol. I hope you guys can meet in Washington though, seems like all of these have been centered in the east coast, though that’s understandable.
My brother slept in the DC spy museum once, through CTY. I f anyone’s ever there, a muser was once under the ninja. He said it’s just carpet over concrete. I wouldn’t try to replicate the feat.
Maybe we could have a Kokonvention in New York City at the American Museum of Natural History. It’s a very Museish place. I don’t do pink, but I could wear my baseball cap with the image of the Titanic on it.
um… tentative thoughts abound. I wish this weren’t so cryptic but I have no idea what’s going on. Apologies to the GAPAs for outside contact, everyone who’s confirmed as being near enough to our area has been asked, pictures and details may arrive in a few days or may never. I just saw a kokonvention thread and felt like being mysterious. I could take pictures of my everyday contact with MuseBloggers too in a week or so.
23- Huh.
27~ YOU ARE NEVER ALLOWED TO SAY THAT YOU ARE BORING AGAIN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? If I catch you saying something like that again I will pie you with a spike pie.
Places I might be able to get to eventually–I live about an hour or so from Washington DC, so that’s an option. A few times I year I go through Chicago to visit my grandparents in Wisconsin. They live not too far from Milwaukee, so that is also a possibility. Ohio, might work as well, since we go through there on the way to WI. PA might be good too, it just depends where in. I spend a fair amount of time in VA too.
I have relaitves in Washington state, but I have no idea if I’ll get out there again anytime soon, so please don’t hold your breath.
37 – Yes, I’m really hoping for it. We’ve had enough in Chicago and D.C. haven’t we? What about people on the west coast?
42 – -holds breath anyways-
Anybody else near Boston?
I live really close to Boston, which La Mort and Purplefinch both mentioned. Any dates that are good for you?
39- NYC is good
43- i was just on the east coast this sumer, but it was before i became a museblogger.
43~ I don’t know if I’ll get there anytime soonish, but I hope sometime. I’d love to meet you guys on the west coast!!
(44, 45) I’ll be in Boston in mid-February.
25, 44, 48-How about on President’s Day weekend? Any idea’s for a good meeting place?
34-Ah. I see. Thanks, then!
37-I want to meet, like, everybody. Well, there are exeptions. Who? F- oh, hey, Frigid Symphony! No, I’d love to meet you.
42-Okay, okay, okay! *hides under bed*
Basically, my Kokonvention range is, like, Pennsylvania to North North Carolina to VA Beach to West VA.
50 – Yeah, there are some people I wouldn’t want to me, but for the most part, it would just be exciting to finally see a person behind the words. ^_^
51- Exactly.
51-I think I would like to meet most of the people here. I want to meet all the regular people on here.
I love the Musecasts. It’s so cool just to hear the peoples’ voices on here. It would be really neat to meet them.
I know I ask about this a lot, but is there anyone who lives in OK, anyone at all?Anyone within 500 miles?
Normally I go to PA, NY, and OH during the summer, but in a cruel twist of fate, I am going to be in the middle of nowhere this summer.
I am officially done whining.
If you ever find yourself in Muse, Oklahoma, we’ll be happy to post some pictures.
middle of nowhere? REALLY???? R U SURE?????
Done asking questions
I’m going to Australia, visiting some friends while we’re there. Going to be so fun!
u people should have a Kokonvention in Chicago, I mean many people live near IL, because it’s in the Midwest. Next suggestion is Georgia, i don’t know why but its just something about that place well, yeah Musey.
ThE weIRdO iN tHE PolKAdOt tOp hAT
55- I’m bribing my parents to take me over spring break. It is not that hard given that it is on the edge of a national park that is oddly famous for Bigfoot sightings.
Hawaii!! No, I don’t live there (darn!) but it’s my dad’s favorite place on earth and any excuse to go there is good enough for him. *sighs* Now, back to reality.
I could* make it to a Kokonvention in/near Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan(lower peninsula), or parts of Illinois/Indiana.
*By “could” I mean if I could convince my parents and it was during a school break or long weekend.
56- Australia rocks!
NYC seems like it has great potential.
KaiYves, greekgurl, ddod, purplefinch , c+q, margaret, and me all live nearby, I think. Anyone else?
60- Hear hear!
Actually I really want to go to New Zealand.
61- nearby-ish…. its like a 5 hour drive for me, just in the same state
61 cont.
Potato Chip, penguini, Elizabeth, Isabella, The Stalking Yeti of Knottingham, book_addict, glassboro. Most of these seem to be gone, but I’m sure it would be big.
59-I live in Ohio and near PA.
64-Hmm. New York isn’t too far, and we might go there anyway. If I did go though I probably wouldn’t have any say in what we did. That would be mostly my mom’s choice, and a bit of my sister’s.
Wow, this thread has really grown….
It should be in LA, baby! California has the best climate, and afterwards, you can visit universal studios or disneyland.
Well, I’m opting for in the summer, so’s I have a chance to go.
I have relatives in New York, so there’s a SLIMSLIMSLIM chance that someday I might be able to go to a NY Kokonvention.
hurhurhur Chicago!!! And Robert, even if the Kokon doesn’t materialize, me, you, and possibly Romana should go somewhere and be Musey.
NYC is only an hour or two away from me, so barring any very strange weather, I can come. Maybe I can even drag penguini and Potato Chip with me… it would be like a carpool! (No, it would be a carpool. That’s the definition of carpool. The word “like” is unnecessary. *sigh*)
…except if it’s during marching band time. I appear to be missing three consecutive Wednesdays in July already, and I’m only supposed to be gone 2 practices at most. How does everything get planned out six months in advance…? Late August is bad. So is the middle three weeks of July. Other than that, and barring unforeseen circumstances, I should be able to come. I wish there weren’t so many qualifiers.
40- never mind. Forget I said anything. *fades into the shadows again* *stumbles on something because she isn’t very good at fading into shadows and such*
Enlighten me on Kokonventions, please! I live in the Upper Midwest… any nearby?
New York City’s a great place.
When the monsters aren’t climbing the Empire State Building…
And the supervillians aren’t fighting Spider-Man…
… Then we all go about our normal buisness.
73-Â CLOVERFIELDSPAZZZZ
CHICAGOOOOO!
74- I actually wasn’t refering to that movie.
Chicago is… thirded? Is it too late to make plans for weekend of 30/31st, when Robert’s here?
*And by that I mean weekend after, which is when he’d be here I think he said.
72~ A Kokonvention is a gathering of Musers. There have been several, just google “Kokonvention” and you’ll find threads, pictures of past ones and goodness knows what else. Pretty much it’s a chance to get to know each other in person, act goofy, and–if we’re lucky–to see the GAPAs pie each other. *remembers*
CLEVELAND CLEVELAND CLEVELAND!
it’s about 2.5 hours away (relax GAPAs, so is just about everything else…it’s central ohio…). so i could easily make it in a day. Just don’t pick next weekend because that’s solo+ensemble (not that you would anyway, too short notice i suppose).
also unintended pun, does your school have JSA? if so JOIN, it’s so much fun (reason i ask, we just had a convention in cleveland so i know there are chapters around…) then we could totally hang out at conventions and be best friends ‘cept not really. plus it’s politics, what’s not to love?
</plug>
I have relatives near Cleveland. Could drop by for a visit…
Shoot. Is it because we had a Kokonvention in DC last time that everybody moved away or something?
*grumbles*
81~ There are still Musers not too far away from DC, so don’t worry. I’m rooting for one closer to home too. However, the midwest might work for me if the stars align…
81-that was a total coincidence for me (coincidence…or mostly harmless? dun dun duuun) but we had been planning on going to DC for a vacation at that time anyway, and then i found out about the kokonvention. so i live far far away and just visit DC a lot because dad likes to go “ooh, historical architecture” (history+architecture=two of his fav things)
is it sad that the second time i wrote “architecture”, one word after the first time, i couldn’t remember how to spell it and had to look back at the first time? and yet the first time i didn’t even think about it? i have a weird mind…
dum de dum, shiny objects, ebeth has nothing more to say
61-yeah, i live IN nyc.
74-*grrrr*
i am considerably less committed to thsi than some, but i would almost defiantely attend a nyc kokonvention.
83-My dad *works* there *sometimes* for some of his *jobs*, and plus DC is historical history. (History+history=more history than you know what to do with, but not for Dad, he’s all blabbing about some random guy I don’t even know.)
eh. no one remembers my state.
86-elsewhere?
85- But history rocks!
Go denmark?
Sigh… The weekend after the 30th and 31st is right after the school lock-in, so unless you want to see the the sleep-deprived zombie speller73, I can’t make it.
79- What’s JSA? We might have it. Our school has more clubs than people know about. A few days ago I found out that there was a middle school chess club.
Cleveland is good for me. Hmm I had an ensemble for choir once. Maybe we live near each other.
Anyone who has to read the following books for something with the initials EF and a school with penguins should look for me when they go to the event.
Habibi
The Sledding Hill
Chew on This
The Watsons go to Birmingham, 1963
Bud, Not Buddy
Thwonk
Seeker
Hopefully someone else on here actually goes to this so I’m not making a PoPo. There’s so many people who go there and it would make me sad if none of them were MBers.
Then again, the sleep-deprived zombie speller73 is better than no speller73. Any ideas how to ask my parents? They know about the blog and its various activities, but they don’t know about kokonventions.
anyone live in buffalo? that’s close to me!
It won’t be a Kokonvention, as it’s on a school day, but let’s all plan to watch the lunar eclipse on 20 February.
93-I’ve been near Lake Ontario, on both sides of the border…
93 – My grandparents do! Maybe next summer…
If there is a kokonvention, I’ll have to borrow c+q’s parent. Mine won’t come most likely especially if it involves driving…
*has no muse apparel, needs to update wardrobe, hint hint I know you’re watching*
86-we might go up there to visit carleton in march. i have a four-day weekend that week. don’t remember what week though
Ebeth, Robert (79, 80): THF and I might be able to make it to Cleveland!
what’s a kokonvention?
100 – It’s where a bunch of MuseBloggers gather in real life. I’ve never been to one (yet!) but they’re apparently awesome.
Anyways…so what MBers think they can make it to a Washington Kokonvention, probably in eastern Washington, and if so, when?
101- Me, some weekend when one of my parents doesn’t have to work. Since my mother gets Wednesdays and Thursdays off and works all the other day, *eek*.
I can’t…CA.
me needs west coast kokonvention, but me can’t really travel anywhere.
102 – What weekends don’t they work on?
I think should have it on March 1st/2nd. Because that’s my birthday. And that would be really, really, really cool.
But really, any time works. It would just be cool to meet you guys.
103 & 104 – Aww.
105- That’s another thing. March 1st is they closing night of Marvin’s Room, and until then I shall be occupied rather obsessively with the play and doing my homework when I have the chance.
105 – Aww, man.
So maybe we should do it after that. Sometime in March?
107- Definitely.
108 – The weekends of March 8th and March 15th don’t work for me, because I have soccer and other stuff going on.
109- Okay. I’ll talk to mi padre ASAP.
I wish I could think up an excuse to get to the west coast in March. Unfortunay, March through May is usually insane.
If anyone’s going to be at Military Through the Ages at Jamestown Settlement, you might see me though, or will that get zapped? *apoligizes to GAPAs in advance if that has to be zapped*
110 – My parents said it’s okay as long as at least one of them is there and it’s in eastern Washington.
Who else was saying they might be able to make it? IBCF?
Any interest in a Chicago Kokonvention?
113 – Yeah, I think some people were talking about one earlier.
88-Okay, then you talk to my dad, and save me the time.
DC! DC! DC! Who lives near DC?
115 – -looks at map- -puts one finger on Washington- -puts another finger on DC- Depends. On this map I live about 6 inches away. However…
School vacation is in about a month. I could spend it in the city at my grandmother’s.
ME NEEDS WEST COAST KOKONVENTION!!!!!!!!
113- yes, as long as it’s not in the summer.
118- yes!
119 – You’re on the west coast? What state?
Yes, the West Coast needs a Kokonvention, but I don’t live there.
119- yes WHAT?
120- I think TNÖ lives in the midwest…
115~ I do.
have a Knoxville tennesse kokovention homies!
125- that the closest offer I’ve gotten.
MEOW!!! IBCF!!! COME HERE!!!
I just talked to my dad about a kokon. He said that he could take me to Eastern WA March 22, March 23, and *maybe* March 29. But we need a place to meet and I need to know how those dates work for you.
127- Does anybody know of a really big landmark around here?
128- I don’t know where you live. How can I know if there are any landmarks? I don’t know the FIRST THING about Eastern WA. How can I live in a state for seven years and never go to the other side?
127 – Out of those the 23rd works the best for me, but I think all of them would be fine if they’re all right with IBCF. Aren’t those all school days, though?
128 – Not really…=/ Are there any museums or anything that we could go to? I dunno.
130- There’s a museum here. With a lightship and everything.
In fact, I can think of tons of landmarks around here. Why, there’s the World’s Largest Frying Pan just a few miles away! Visit the Lewis and Clark trail (snip if you like, GAPAs). *deletes dangerously local information*
Are they school days? Hmm. *looks at calendar* No, they’re not.
Hmm… Are you anywhere near Spokane? We could meet in downtown.
(Just for the record, “few miles” is not literal. It’s advertisement-speak for “long drive”.)
I was just Googling “Eastern Washington landmarks” and “Eastern Washington tourist attractions” and I came up with about 2 museums and Cat Tales…and that’s about it. The truth is, that at least in my opinion, there’s nothing very special about this region.
134- Have you ever been to Cat Tales? Or have you even heard of Cat Tales?
What’s Cat Tales? *is forced to google*
Wow….
132- That would probably work. Where downtown?
138- In the middle of Spokane. Spokane is pretty much made up of downtown.
139- So we just…drive around Spokane looking for MuseBloggers? *confused*
140- No, there’s plenty of landmarks there. Like the clock tower.
135 – Yes, I’ve been there lots of times. It might work.
141 – We could meet near the carousel at Riverfront Park. Or at a movie theater or something.
142- Yeah! Then we could go somewhere for lunch. Lunch is good.
143 – Definitely. Hmm, what resturaunt…
Panda Express. @_@ Or not.
Oh, and IBCF, did you check if any of those days Alice posted worked for you?
145- They’re fine with me.
Okay. So we’re meeting near the carousel at Riverfront Park on March 23? What time?
Town:
Spokane
[snip! Let’s not be quite so specific on the blog, please. –Rebecca]
Attendants:
¡Ã߀ƒ!
Cat’s Meow
Alice
And their parents.
Right-o. Correct me if I’m wrong, and then I can email the info off to mi padre.
Time…I dunno. Maybe about 10? It depends if we want to do anything before lunch, or just meet and go straight to lunch.
147- Time: Somewhere near lunch.
Also, bring a camera. Pictures are always nice. But don’t expect me to be in any of them.
Opal *might* come. *coughstoplurkingopalcough*
We’ll have to hold up signs proclaiming out MB names or else all sorts of awkward situations will occur. (Read the below SSSS)
Hello! Are you IBCF and Cat’s Meow?
:random people: Er…no. *edge away*
148,149- Bear in mind that I have to travel MILES and MILES. 10 might be a little early. I’ll consult my dad. *emails*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHI’MSOEXCITEDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry ’bout that. It expresses my current feelings.
149 – I’ll bring a video camera and a digital camera.
150 – My brother claims he’s coming, although I don’t really want him too. Oh, and for the second part, we could wear Muse T-shirts or bring issues of Muse to hold up.
151 – Oh, right. Forgot about that…it’s about a 7 hour drive, isn’t it?
152 – Why? What happened?
153- SEVEN HOURS??????????????? *eyes pop out of head* Dear Lord.
151- Well, if that’s the case, then we’ll have to make sure this Kokonvention is worthwhile!
153- I’ll just bring a Muse issue. That should be enough.
155- Woahwoahwoahwoah wait a minute. 7 hours? Where do you live???
155 – I’m just guessing. I really don’t know…but still.
157 – Western Washington. Way over on the other side of the state.
157- Horribly far away. I can’t tell you exactly. An hour’s drive or so from the Pacific.
Daddy says 8 hours. Argh.
I think that we need to change the date to the 22nd, if that is at all possible, so that I can get to school on Monday. Because this is not a day trip, I can tell you that.
150-I can totally see that happening.
Hey! I’m Alice. If you see two girls who say their names are Cat’s Meow and IBCF, come tell me, ‘kay?
 …. Lady, I’m a security guard.
Oh, don’t worry, they’ll stand out. They look suspicious enough. Ask around! *skips off*
 ….
Really, you guys, that’s so cool. The people on the plane to California found out what salior’s language I had when I found out that I couldn’t go to the Kokonvention in DC.
Seriously, anyone up for a Spy Museum visit?
159 – Okay. That’s the Sunday, right? It still works for me. They all do.
All I can say is bring lots and lots and lots of Muse magazines to read in the car.
160- IBCF is a boy.
161- I don’t HAVE lots of Muses. I only had a few, and I’m not sure what happened to them after the fire. *grumbles*
162 – Ohhh. In that case…hmm…lots of books. Assuming you don’t get carsick. Just borrow half the library.
Is there anyone who could make it to a Cleveland or Pittsburgh one? I live about halfway between them.
In the summer I could probably do a lot more places, like lake Erie in Aurora or something. That would be pretty neat.
160- I don’t think I made it clear enough…I am a boy. IBCF=boy. IBCF≠girl. Okay…?
159- Wow. You might as well travel by plane.
Well, that makes things complicated. *thinks* Will you be able to come during spring break?
165 – Got it.
Alice = Girl
Cat’s Meow = Girl
IBCF = Boy
Right?
I hate incredibly much living in New Zealand
I guess theres no way anyone wold come here :'(
not that there is any reason you would want to…
but you can…truly…
also…make sure to have a Kokonvention in ’09 and maybe, possibly I could save enough money…(and beg my parents..)
166- No, it’s fine. Unless you can’t do it on the 22nd?
167- Pretty much.
If someone was willing to drive me for four hours (and fourteen minutes!!!) I might be able to make Pittsburgh. Dates and times would matter, too. But it’s *possible*.
Again: ANYONE FOR DC? Or Pittsburgh, or somewhere in between?
169- No, I’m okay if you’re okay. I just feel bad about how you have to travel this far.
I’m not going to be able to think of anything else for the next 55 days…
I just wrote it on the calender. That makes it OFFICIAL.
172- Eh, ‘sokay. Although if we could meet anywhere closer that’d be great. But my dad agreed to take me, so the biggest problem is solved.
Re: Stuff to Do: Well, we’ll need to go somewhere to eat, and we can all bring our Muses, and we’re meeting by a carousel… Hopefully this’ll be enough to break the ice and get us started on interesting conversation. Hopefully.
173- Okay. Time to email my dad again.
174- There’s a lot of stuff to do in Riverfront Park. We can visit the Imax theater, watch ducks in the river, and take videos of ourselves doing silly things in public. We might also visit the pavillion left over from the World’s fair. There’s more to Spokane then billions of pine trees, you know.
174 – And if not, then we run around in circles screaming until we think of something to talk about.
Sounds like a plan.
176 – Yeah, I guess. I wonder what movies are going to be at the Imax theater March 22nd. Spiderwick Chronicles might still be showing, but it’s unlikely.
The carousel is actally fun for a carousel, too, since as you go around there are these little rings that are hard to grab and you have to try and grab them and throw them at a target. It’s kinda hard to describe, but we should definitely ride it at least once.
Ugh, I just checked the Riverfront Park website and it said that the theme part section isn’t going to open until – wait for it – March 29th. And the Ice Palace closes March 2nd, so we can’t even go there.
178- Oh well. *looks up*
178- Darn.
160/171~ I could probably convince my parents to take me to the Spy Musieum. that might be the easiest meeting place to get them to take me to, since we want to gothere again anyway. Besides, it’s educational!!
Oh Spokane-dwellers, do either of you know of a good museum?
182- There is one, the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, but I don’t think it’s really that great…
182 – The one that IBCF mentioned, but that’s it.
89-heh. i would be the only one to actually possibly make that.
ill be in denmark sometime this august, and maybe again at Christmas. but umm yeah. not enough peoples.
My mom is going to be around DC in a couple weeks. This is what happened…
Mom: When I’m away for work I’m going to go see Ana. She wanted me to bring you but since I’ll be there for a whole school week you have to stay at dad’s.
Me: Aw that’s cool. *fuming inside*
Mom: We’ll go sometime for a weekend or something.
Me: Yay!
I have no idea when this will be, and I’ll probably find out about 1 or 2 weeks before. I must go to as many Smithsonians as possible, so it would be neat to Kokonvene at one. Or some other museum. If you can’t tell I like museums.
186- I can’t make it to Washington, but please look at the teddy bear in the gallery How Things Fly at the Air and Space Museum for me.
I shall start saving every penny for the next Kokonvention, i am sooooooooooooo jealous!
hmmmmm how much do I already have?
5 mins later
oh…$1-60
well
its a start…
181-
Mom, can you take me to the Spy Museum?
Mm. Why?
It’s educational.
Splendid. You know what I think about education these days.
Yeah, but I’m going to meet a whole bunch of people who like science and history!
REALLY! *turns into * Maybe they can fix you!
Fix me?
Yeh, we all know you have PROBLEMS because you don’t like science or history.
Mmkay. Can we go?
YES! IN FACT, I ORDER YOU TO GO! I’LL TAKE YOU IF I HAVE TO DRAG YOU!
Okay, Mom, I’m going! Please don’t drag me.
Anyone else for DC?
189 – Is that really what happened? Haha.
189~ Fix you? We don’t want to “fix” you. You’re awesome the way you are! So, can you get there? My mom aske me every time I come on here now, “So when are they going to have a Kokonvention?”
My mom is really cool with the idea of a Kokonvention, because I explained the safety rules and everything.
189-Cool! I actually do love science and history. They’re quite interesting outside of school. If I come to DC I will tell you. My mom will probably either not take me, take me and ditch me for a while after she decides that I won’t get killed by you, or complain the whole time about me wanting to do stuff.
I’m trying to figure out if there are any MBers at my school. Is anyone’s school drama club doing an original play called The Reunion? If so you probably go to my school.
I just had an idea! I’ll bring my computer and we can record ourselves singing the Spector House Song!
194- Er, what’s the Spector House Song?
195- Can’t remember. It’s on the MA thread.
193- You said it. Very little is cool in school.
IBCF AND ALICE, COME HERE.
I just checked the calender to make sure I still didn’t have anything else happening on March 22nd, but it said that I might have Premier Soccer Tryouts that day, which I really, really want to do. There’s a very good chance it’ll be in the afternoon (starting at 5 or 6, most likely) if it happens on that day, but I’m not sure what times exactly we were going to hang out with each other for. I thought Alice said that she wanted it to start late-ish, since she had to drive over from Western Washington, but I don’t remember.
Oh, and Alice, good idea with the Spector House song. Since we ARE all in Spector House, after all!
198- I thought we were going to meet around lunch.
199 – That’s what I thought too, but I wasn’t sure. And then what time would the Kokonvention be over at? If I have tryouts, I might have to leave around 4 or 5-ish to get ready for that.
On the other hand, the day after that (the 23rd) is Easter. Would they really schedule it on that day? Heck, did any of us even realize that the 23rd is Easter?
200- The 23rd is Easter?
198- o.o Er…
201 – Yeah, apparently.
And it’s been 99% confirmed that I don’t have tryouts that day.
200- It’s not Orthodox Easter, I know that.
Yeah, I think it’s the 23rd.
202- *breathes sigh of relief* Good.
205 – No kidding. I would be hard pressed to pick between tryouts and you guys, and I wouldn’t want to have to choose at all…
False alarm, everybody. Back to your daily lives.
WHOA, if you have a kokonvention over there with Alice, Cat’s Meow, and IBCF, I will be JEALOUS. That would be Alice, who I have known forever here, And a Zemtee General and a Zemtee Chief!!! IBCF and Cat’s Meow, you will be having a real live Zemtee meeting! *Plots ways of making space ship to get half of the way around the world* *Is jealous and sorry he won’t get to meet two Zemtee people* Take pictures!!!
Now, what was that about a DC kokonvention? *Strains eyes* Nope, not much has been said…so, we were trying to make this one educational or more for just meeting each other and hanging out? Either way, don’t make it too soon, because it ends up not being the cheapest thing in the world. Certainly one of the most fun, though !!!
Red-tailed HAWK
207 – Yup, we’ve already got it planned out. March 22nd. I can’t wait to meet this guys, either, because they’re two of my bestest friends on MuseBlog. It would be cool to meet you, too, but we live way too far apart. We’ll make sure to take lots of pictures!
I’m SO EXCITED!!!!
207-
*chants* DC! DC! DC! DC!
I’m dying with jelousy, peoples!!!
I’m certainly open to a DC Kokonvention. I’d probably be able to go too, since both my parents are very enthusiastic about MB and the kids that frequent it.
The Spy Musieum is still a possibility, if anyone else can get there sometime? Or if anyone is planning a visit to Jamestown Settlement I might be able to be there.
So, I’d love to get together with some other MBers.
I just put this up for the “Don’t forget these threads”, so that might bring some more interest to this thread and we can get something on this side of the continent going again!
209 – Me toooooooo. Wow, I can’t believe it’s barely a month away!
*Joins chant* Let’s go!
We would have to work on the exact scheduling, but all units here are very excited and enthusiastic! Robert, What is your position? Do you have any comments on generally when would be good for you? (you don’t have to say what day yet, but hopefully it will be this year. And maybe before the unbearable summer heat sets in. Comments?)
Red-tailed HAWK
Well, I’m busy this weekend and the last weekend in March. Apart from that, my schedule is wide open.
*new chant*
DC Spy Museum! DC Spy Museum! DC Spy Museum!
*holds up signs with the DC Spy Museum written in creepy bold letters*
I’d love to meet with the D.C. group, but I doubt I can get away before April.
Minneapolis/St. Paul, anybody?
Do any of the GAPAs think they can possibly make it to Washington on March 22nd? Probably not, but it can’t hurt to ask…
March 22nd… *checks calender*
Shoot! I can’t come then, I have rehersals and set building.
Beavo, she means Washington state, when IBCF and Alice are having a kokonvention (with Cat’s Meow.) Or did you guess that? I don’t mean to miss your joke if you did understand her question!
Rebecca! We’d love to have you if you can make it! Perhaps we should wait until Rebecca is sure she can come, unless she suddenly finds a time that works…
Red-tailed HAWK
…I knew that…
221-Okay And I may be able to do something about your lack of points if you spell Doesn’t correctly in your name, and if you decide to join Zemtee again You used to be in Zemtee, but drifted out. I’d be happy for you to return!
Red-tailed HAWK
I might be in DC at the end of July.
My sister is going to a camp there and I don’t know if I’m going to stay and go museum-ing with the parent that takes her, but I really hope I get to. If I don’t I’ll be really sad because I’ll miss the chance to see awesome stuff and MBers.
I might go to the GL Science Center in Cleveland soon.
222-I’m still a loyal subject of Zemtee, but I’m getting tired in my *cracks back* old age.
Well, okay. I’m pretty young. Younger than you.
But still… FINE. I’ll become active again. Give me the link and I’ll be happy to return.
DC if a definate yes (unless I have rehersal for Aladdin) and Cleveland is a maybe. It’s not too far away.
222~ Ooh, bribes!
Hmm, times that are good for us…April and May are usually TOTALLY INSANE, so that might not be too good. Also, I’ll be gone in March to VA for Jamestown around the 15/16/17th, for Military Through the Ages weekend, I’m not sure the exact dates I’ll be there though. But we’ll see, I’d still love to go to Kokonventions. If you all won’t be too traumatized after meeting me, of course…
Come on… A Minneapolis Kokonvention, anybody???
Hello. I’m going to the Great Lakes Science Center today, which means that any Kokonventions there are out for a long time because “we just went” will be in effect for several months. So if anyone goes today I’ll be there [Sorry, UP. That level of detail makes us a little nervous. If MBers could find you by that description, so could others. Hope you have fun! –Rebecca].
WASHINGTON STATE KOKONVENTIONERS (In other words, Alice and IBCF):
So, have we officially decided on a time yet? I forgot. Anyways, my dad mentioned it to me today, so it’s definitely happening. Do we have to have our parents e-mail the GAPAs or something, since I know that’s happened in the past.
228- I thought it was noon, but I can’t remember.
228- It was noon.
229, 230 – Okay, thanks.
Could we do New York some time over the summer?
232-I might be going to NYC sometime over the summer. I also might be going to DC the same week. And if my dad is there Philadelphia is definetly(I can’t spell) in.
My range is pretty much Maryland, North-West to North-East Virginia, Pennsylvania, and some of Kentucky.
And DC, of course.
I trust that you Kokonventioneers are all stocked up on Musewear.
Yup. I can wear bunnies or Muse Academy if it’s hot, Mostly Harmless if it’s cool enough for 3/4 lengh sleeves.
I’m all ready!
My shirts/sweatshirt fit, like, my best friend’s dog.
237~ Meaning? The question is whether they fit you.
I found that the CafePress clothes ran a bit small, and fit…snugly. So really check the charts.
WASHINGTON KOKON IN 13 DAYS!!!!!!!!
239- HURRAH!!!!!
Maybe our kokon should go on the calendar (hint, hint). *bribes with chocolate ice cream*
I’m getting one of the hot pink bunny T-shirts, but since my dad hasn’t ordered it yet I’m not sure if it’ll arrive in time for the Kokon. -gasp- WHICH IS IN 6 DAYS. AND WHICH STILL ISN’T ON THE CALENDAR. (hint, hint, GAPAs)
When we’ve heard from all the parents, then maybe we’ll post the date on the calendar. So far, only Alice’s father has checked in.
242- You will know me by my attire, although (sadly) I don’t have any Muse-ry gear since my mousepad burned up.
Well, actually you probably won’t know me by my attire. You’ll know me the large sign that says “Spokane Kokonvention.”
Hmm. What can I do to prepare? Make that sign, obviously, and perhaps some other Muserly things that’ll make it easier to tell who I am.
I have long brown hair, which I can guarantee you won’t be in any sort of hairstyle unless it’s really, really windy. I’ll be wearing a yellow shirt (probably) with purple trees on it (if not that, a red t-shirt with a black sailboat), blue jeans, and brown shoes. Probably a white puffy jacket, maybe a jeans jacket. Maybe a knitted hat. We have a dark blue Toyota station wagon (is it a station wagon? I don’t actually know), but that shouldn’t matter. My dad, I’m almost positive, will be wearing jeans, a fleece sweatshirt, and a dark green hat, unless he goes bareheaded or wears a baseball cap with words that I can’t tell you and a pair of crossed canoe paddles. I might be reading Shakespeare.
And of course, there’ll be the sign.
243 – Aaargh, I knew there was something I was forgetting. I’ll have my dad e-mail you ASAP. The e-mail address is gapa @ musefanpage. com, right?
Yes, that’s how you reach us.
244 – Got it.
Let’s see…I have blond hair, just past my shoulders, and I’m short. I really can’t describe myself that well. But I’ll be reading Muses, possibly with a sign like you described, and I might be wearing a HPB shirt.
247- I’ll find you.
Now where’s IBCF got to?
Argh. I can’t sit still. *paces* *paces some more*
*fast-forwards to noon of the 22nd* YAY!!!
248 – I dunno.
249 – Don’t hyperventilate. Then I would never get to meet you.
So, what exactly does my dad have to say in the e-mail?
IBCF!!! COME HERE PLEASE!!!!
I need to know that you know where and when we’re meeting. Saturday at noon. I know my uncertainty at when it was has probably confused you, but it IS ON SATURDAY. At the [snippety snip snip snip]. I won’t go into further detail because the GAPAs snipped it last time, but the meeting place has already been specified, and it wasn’t snipped a couple of time, just when it was added to all the other stuff. Look around for a big sign saying “SPOKANE KOKONVENTION.”
Phooey, it’s too bad your kokonvention is in the other washington!!
Cat’s Meow, I know you’re probably busy and excited about the kokonvention, but if you have a chance, you’re still Chief of Trade in Zemtee, and we’d be happy to have you back active again…
Red-tailed HAWK
Urgh. You guys are making me jelous. I can’t wait for the second DC Kokonvention.
SpyMuseumSpyMuseumSpyMuseumnotonApril12thpleaseandthankyou.
OK. I’m so excited I’m going to talk about it constantly.
ALICE – Wearing teal cardigan, blue or black jeans, teal beret, and grey coat with various polar creature on it. Carrying Muses and a sign that says “SPOKANE Kokonvention” in red Sharpie and with three HPBs (also drawn in red Sharpie) beneath it and some words. May or may not have black computer bag (so we can record ourselves singing the Spector House Song!). Brown shoes, brown hair.
252 – I haven’t seen IBCF much lately…
252 – Yeah, sorry. I know I haven’t been very active lately.
255 – My dad apparently e-mailed your dad a bunch today, and vice versa. At least they know it’s happening, huh?
CAT’S MEOW – Wearing clothes, most likely green pants with MY HOT PINK BUNNY T-SHIRT THAT I GOT TODAY YAY and blue/white shoes. Will be reading Muse, may be holding a Spokane Kokonvention sign IF I can get around to making one.
And that’s all I’m going to type because my comment box just shrunk. WHEE.
Hey, Spokane Kokonveners: Have a great time at the Kokon, have some pie if you can, discuss making the world a better place, and pet any friendly dogs you see. And if you record the Spector House song, it will be icing on the cake! (I’d say pie but they don’t have icing.)
257 – Who says pies can’t have icing? And you could say whipped cream on the pie. That works.
Anyways, I completely forgot about having pie. Must…have…pumpkin…pie…for…Kokonvention.
You’re right, Cat’s Meow. Pies can have icing. Actually, I just remembered that when I make apple pie I drip some lemon sauce over the top crust that hardens into ICING. So “it will be icing on the pie” is a perfectly reasonable thing to say.
259 – Exactly.
And that sounds really yummy.
Take lots of pictures! Have lots of fun! Eat more pie than you should for me!
[location snipped!] Meow! Just in time for lunch!!! I’m so excited!!! *hyperventilates*
What to look for: I’ll be wearing a yellow jacket and reading the Exploding Trousers Muse issue.
I hope we can do NYC sometime this year. I know there was NY one that I couldn’t go to, which was sad. But I really doubt I can go anywhere that isn’t between Albany and NYC.
Right now IBCF, Meow, and Alice are in the middle of their kokonvention! I wonder if they’ll contact us before they’re finished. Anyway, I hope you folks are having a great time, and I can’t wait to see the pictures! I’m happy you could finally arrange the kokonvention, I know how long you had been waiting
Red-tailed HAWK
(Cat)
262 – You know, it would have been helpful to know that BEFORE I met you.
264 – Wish granted! Cuz we’re awesome like that.
(Alice) Signing off…for now. See you in a short while.
265- Sorry, I had a mandatory Tae Kwon Do practice this morning, and there was no time to post. I’m having my black test soon, you know.
266- Typo–Black Belt test. *pies self*
266 – It’s okay.
This is really weird, now that I know what you look like and stuff.
*is jealous of Kokonventioneers*
Hmm…
This summer I’ll be in DC, and possibly NYC and Philadelphia.
Those will be between July 21 and 27 I think. or somewhere around there. Its in July and the date has a 2 in it.
KOKONVENTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We must have a Kokonvention! And I would like to recommend we look outside of D. C. while still remaining in that area.
269-Really? I do believe the summer will be better for a lot of people. During the school year, well oddly enough, people have to be in school. And that doesn’t leave a lot of time to go traveling around the countryside meeting people at Kokonventions
Seriously, the spellchecker on MuseBlog says Kokonvention isn’t a word! Of course, it says MuseBlog isn’t a word either, so what can I say?
So yes, it is Kokonvention time!
Red-tailed HAWK
Harg! I’ve been away so long I forgot to put the extra spaces. Well, I’ve been typing up a long post for another thread, but I have to go now. Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow…
Red-tailed HAWK
Well, you can’t say I didn’t try.
Red-tailed HAWK
MINNESOTA, WISCONSIN, IOWA, MICHIGAN, OR NORTH/SOUTH DAKOTA MUSEBLOGGERS??? KOKONVENTION???
Is there going to be a second DC kokonvention???
If not, Cincinnati, anyone?
