in May 21st, 2012 @ 07:59I dreamt that Roseanne came to find me at some sort of half-abandoned fair or market thing to tell me that I was adopted.
Then there was some part on a boat where I was clinging to the forestay and had to hang on to the port shroud which I’d untied for some reason (I think I was going to braid it or cut the bottom off to make it shorter because it’d stretched- it was a new spectra-type rope, not a chunky metal thing), except then I ended up swinging back and forth on the shroud because I let go of the forestay and I had to wait for the boat to pitch again with the next wave to get another pass at the forestay… I made it in the end, but it was somewhat disturbing because even though I knew the boat, somehow the proportions were screwed and I was much higher up (the bow was sort of weird) than I should’ve been and it was dark and starting to rain.
Also, this had something to do with my true heritage that Roseanne explained to me, except that I was still related to my mother somehow.
My dreams are so strange lately. Murderous subways, GAPAs, water-proof I-pods…

in May 21st, 2012 @ 12:52Yesterday I spent pretty much the entire day watching Avatar: The Last Airbender into the wee hours of the morning, so when waking up at eight, I was in this half-asleep, half-awake state for most of the times I pressed the snooze button. So for about thirty minutes I sincerely believed I was a firebender. I was so confused.

in May 21st, 2012 @ 17:36My best dreams involve the playground next to my house. It’s in my neighborhood, and so many things happen in there.
-My ex-best-friend shot me down with a shotgun she found in my garage
-It was the apocalypse, and Rachmaninoff and The Wizard of Oz and I looked at old yearbook pictures. Somebody on the yearbook staff had trolled it so that my picture moved like in Harry Potter and said offensive things.
-We watched an eclipse. The sun was in the sky, and all of a sudden the moon came out of nowhere and started swinging back and forth and like a pendulum
-We watched a rocket launch. It came streaking into the sky and left a huge column of flame and smoke glowing in the night. It was beautiful and strong and calming.
-We watched the stars. I think there was something wrong with them.
-We went across the street and in the neighbor’s yard there was a whole snow biome, like it suddenly became snowy. The forests and things just went on forever. It was so much fun to explore, and strangely like Minecraft despite the fact that I had this dream long before I played Minecraft.
-I ran on the sidewalk adjacent to the playground escaping the scientists that were chasing me with radioactive hats.
-The playground was some sort of safe base and we kept having to fight off intruders. It was like some convoluted version of the games of Capture the Flag I would play with neighborhood boys when I was ten, but all the neighborhood adults were involved.It’s all muddled in my head…

in May 24th, 2012 @ 15:45I have had a strange dream ever since I was in the 1st grade. It was that my grandfather turned into a grizzly bear (don’t worry, it gets weirder), ate my grandmother, and went around destroying china plates. This was all caused by an episode of “Little Bear.” Yes, I remember that episode, too.

in May 24th, 2012 @ 18:38Before I came to college I dreamt very rarely, usually fairly coherently and in epic, long-winded narratives.
Recently I’ve been sort of half-dreaming almost every night, and it’s little more than flashes of faces and horizons and nonsensical images. And, frankly, since I’m usually aware of being in bed and lying down during them, I’m not completely sure whether they’re actual *dreams* or just weird hallucinations, especially since my brain has apparently decided that I only need three hours of sleep every day.
Although, about a week ago, I did have an *extremely* graphic dream wherein I was swimming in a pool at night and then got eviscerated and then eaten alive by velociraptors. And there were people in a hot air balloon who tried to rescue me and another girl who was with me, and they got eaten too. It was very surreal, and somewhat a departure from the norm even for my not-possible-hallucination-dreams, since usually the worst that happens to me in dreams is broken bones.

1. I was in a haunted library in the middle of the day. My crush was there too and we were trying to kill these ghost/ ninja things. My only weapon was a television remote with a button labeled, “SHOOT.” As you can guess, it had little effect on the ninja-ghosts. My crush was talking all, “If I don’t make it out, know that I died for you.” Then, both of us died (after sharing a really ugly kiss).2. Me, my older sister, and a few other people were in a beach house with the good guys from the Sister’s Grimm books. Then Mirror (Sister’s Grimm) was trying, with the help of a bunch of creepy monsters, to kill us all. He did this really cool laser eye thing that electrocuted people and I tried to do it, but he laughed at me. I ran and hid under a bathroom sink, but got bored and walked out. Then, I was killed by an orange, slimy cyclops.
I was told that if you dream about dying, you will live a long and prosperous life. But a lot of times, I will dream someething, and years later, it will come true. I’ll be sitting in a restauraunt that I’ve never been to and I’ll think “Oh cake! I have had a dream just like this!” I’m not even kidding. Everyone will be sitting in the exact same spots and saying the relatively same things.
Is this all weird, or is it just me?

in May 28th, 2012 @ 14:38Erm… so last night I had this dream about a reeeeeeally surrealistic haunted-mansion-type house containing, among other things, holographic tigers, bald motorcycle-riding LEGO mice, an inner Asian courtyard straight out of The King And I, and a roof along one side of which were stacked ten-foot-long rolls of wrapping paper and explosives. For some reason we all ended up on the roof among the wrapping paper a lot.
Because in this mansion was happening a war, which involved Muppets and Jim Henson, BBC Sherlock going around randomly proposing to people, expanding suction-cup warriors, little squiddy things which hid in the rolls of wrapping paper and were the only sane beings of any kind, the goddess Hera and an elf (or possibly Sherlock) doing non-PG-rated things in a plastic storage shed to traditional Spanish music, several Avengers and a Loki engaged in some serious sibling rivalry, lots and lots and lots of stairs, and Rebecca Lasley as a supervillainess. (You were pretty terrifying, Rebecca.)I… have weird dreams pretty much nightly, but I think this one ranks up there as one of the weirdest I’ve ever had.

in June 3rd, 2012 @ 23:34Ok this is one of the best dreams that I’ve ever had, so I have to write it down here so I don’t forget it.
The first part: I had been the Tenth Doctor’s companion between Martha and Donna, and he had come back to visit me for one last adventure. But it was more of a sightseeing trip thing. Lots of swimming and diving off of cliffs. AWESOME. Just the thought of actually being a companion is amazing.
The second part was really weird. There was this cube thing, and it was the Avatar somehow. The Silence had locked it up in this facility and I, along with the Eleventh Doctor, were helping it to escape. We were in the ocean and then it used waterbending for the first time and washed us up on this small island. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi were there and it turned out that Anakin was also the Avatar… I think we had traveled through time somehow without the TARDIS. We were ambushed and the cube thing earthbended. We waterbended across the ocean some more and wound up with the first five Doctors, but Eleven wasn’t there any more. Five talked to the cube about being the Avatar (because, you know, Five obviously knows everything about being the Avatar). And that was it.The first part was obviously the best.

in June 23rd, 2012 @ 21:15I had a dream that a character from one of Agent Hippie’s old stories that she wrote in sixth and seventh grade, named Jake, had powers of water because he was a blue thumb (like green thumb but blue, and enhanced with magic awesomeness).
Jake and I, accompanied with several NPC children (they were just white blurs! They didn’t even have faces! Therefore, I will call them NPCs) went back in time. We ended up on the Titanic, a few hours before it sank.
((Off topic, but my six-year-old sister recently read about the Titanic and is now terrified of cruise ships.))
We had to stop the ship from sinking, but more importantly save ourselves. This would have been easy with Jake’s new magic water powers, but he refused to use them to save the Titanic because it would be “cheating” and wasn’t in the canon.
We tried to escape but they trapped us in the theater where they were showing the movie Titanic for the enjoyment of the passengers. While this annoying lady in a business suit, who had been yelling at us for escaping as well as setting everyone on watch for our escape, tried to get the movie going, we all set about escaping the theater, which was (according to my dreaming mind’s knowledge of this) the epicenter of the damage of the ship. The lady in the business suit was having trouble skipping through the previews on DVD (they were all for Barbie fairy princess movies) so she didn’t notice us setting off flares and trying to unlock the theater door.
Then I woke up and realized I didn’t have to save the Titanic at all, but I was still a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to find out what happens.

I was trying to teach them how to play Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock, but I was doing a really bad job of explaining it, and kept forgetting what things beat what things. Eventually everyone got bored and left.

in July 10th, 2012 @ 12:09The past couple of dreams I’ve had involved bad things happening to children. I none of them they were displaying extremely troubling unchildlike behavior, like killing b]people and being little mercenaries, before dying in large numbers. In the other I was in this place that was completely and utterly devoid of any morals. Bad stuff happened to children in the backstory. I buried their skeletons. It got me a ticket out of that terrible place, at least.
The dream I had last night thankfully averted this. I have the first Codex Alera book resting and the foot of my bed. I haven’t read it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. My brain decided to run with that and speculate on what it would be like. With crack. Lots of crack. It was almost a My little Pony crossover before it morphed into the Isreali-Palestinian conflict, several years in this alternate future where people were forced to get along, but not to be nice or anything. Which, ok, wasn’t as fun as the pegasi.

in August 16th, 2012 @ 17:51Last night (well, really this morning – insomnia kept me up until 5:00 a.m. and my dad woke me up again at 8:30) I dreamt that I woke up, went downstairs to get breakfast, and found a humanoid-doglike alien (in the anthropomorphic style used in Doctor Who) convincing my mom’s best friend to take some pill with her morning coffee. I got to her before she did, and the alien backed away. My mom’s friend dropped the pill before I could clearly read the name written on its side, but my (dreaming) brain registered “Zantac” and figured out that it was some pill that started with a Z and had a hard E sound in it (I can’t remember the exact name). It was the pill the Torchwood team uses to wipe people’s memories. I asked her if that was what the alien said it was called, and her scared expression showed me that it was. At that point, the alien ran down the stairs and out the front door, but I knew it would be back soon to kill my mom’s friend and myself for saving her. At this point, said relative’s friend ran into the bathroom (presumably for some privacy to get over her shock and fear), and my mother came downstairs with my sister. I tried to tell my mother about the alien, partly to warn her and partly to try to plan what to do when it came back. I could tell that she didn’t understand or believe me, but I was to freaked out to slow down and explain everything. She quickly got tired of listening to me and took herself and my sister down to the front door to leave the house. I chased after them, yelling my warning, and they turned around to face me just as I saw the alien drive away in a red convertible through the window in the door. Then, I turned my attention to them to try to explain, but I could tell they still didn’t understand me. Suddenly I heard four knocks on the door. Almost as soon as I registered the number, my sister turned to answer the door. I ran to stop her – and my dad woke me up to get ready for the day. The first thing I realized when I woke up was that the name of Torchwood’s memory-erasing drug didn’t even start with a Z!
I’d like to add a little real-life information to help clarify the dream. The house in my dream was a perfect copy of the house I live in, my dad’s house, with no distortions or anything. However, three people were there who live on the other side of the country were there – my mother, my sister, and my mom’s best friend – and five people who live in the house were missing – my father, stepmother, half-brothers, and pet dog.

in August 16th, 2012 @ 19:29Weird dreams last night.
In the first dream I dreamed that my pink laundry basket morphed into a human size killer marshmallow that screamed “CHOCLATE!” , and floated/ran around and tried to eat me. But in the end I outran it and ate the marshmallow when it died. A good( but weird) dream.
The second one was about me falling, but as long as I screamed, I flew. In the end , when I stopped screamflying, and I couldn’t scream anymore, I fell and went splat, but didn’t die. I just went home, ate some doughnuts, and didn’t have to do laundry anymore because my bed was missing.Weird.

in August 16th, 2012 @ 22:14A few nights ago, I had a dream that was eerily reminescent of a Silent Hill game. All I remember now was an overwhelming sense of fear and dread, elevators, a school hallway and classroom, a huge hotel lobby, and a young woman screaming.
I have no idea what this means.

in December 13th, 2012 @ 10:59Okay, so last night, I had a very strange dream that involved Martin Luther King, Laurel and Jonathan Clark, this building kind of like the place my classes are but with these icon-type paintings on the walls, dimensional portals, Disneyland, and bursting into tears. (In the dream, not in reality.)
And then I was trying to get out/off of a docked ferry boat, but there were no exits, even though at one point I found this room full of creepy masks.
And then at one point, I was in the gym at my college, except it was also the American Indian Museum in DC, except the room where my fitness class meets was somehow both the office I worked in this summer and an archeological site. Oh, and there was something about clones…

in December 29th, 2012 @ 15:01This is one of the weirder dreams I have had. I have no idea how it existed. It was a twisted parody of the Hunger games, but it was at my house. Jade, Chok, and Cat’s Eye were somehow with me. We had a bow and arrows, a ruler and a knife. Jadestone had the knife, Choklit had the ruler, and Cat’s eye had the bow. I had nothing. Then two annoying sixth grade girls from my school showed up outside my windows with weed whackers pretending they were daleks, and trying to kill us because we were not daleks too. then some older guys dressed in black capes ran up and killed them. Jade ran and locked the door, Cat went to the window and shot some arrows and killed none of them, and Chok went around to look for some food. I hollered at the guys in black. When they ran away from the arrows, Chok said I was a lazy bum ( how rude!) and told me to find a decent weapon and some suitable nourishment while I was at it. I unlocked the door and slipped out of the house and into the garage. I was trying to find an axe when some of the people in black busted in. I ran out the door, holding the axe, locked the garage, and locked up the house, then grabbed a bag of carrots. When I got to my room Chok said they were tired of me and then Jade killed me, and I was eaten. Then everyone else died.

in December 30th, 2012 @ 12:55I know that I’ve been having really weird dreams lately, but I only remember flashes of them. In two I was lifeguarding at day camp again. In the first all of the zone were covered by the other lifeguards, so I had nothing to do. In the other I was working hard to keep an extremely precocious one year old (who could somehow swim well and talk like an adult) from going into the five feet. I also remember a dream that I woke up from feeling like I was going to cry, and another where someone who’s face I never saw (though I suspect it was Derren Brown) did a pattern-interrupt rapid hypnotic induction on me. It was really weird.

in March 23rd, 2013 @ 14:12Last night I dreamed that my mother and the Pope sent me hateful emails telling me I needed to stop being such a wimp because, since I was a wimp and didn’t really have any problems with the color pink, I was giving in to gender stereotypes. I wrote a long angry email back saying that I had every right to like the color pink and nothing was going to stop me from liking the colors I wanted to write, but I couldn’t send it.

in April 11th, 2013 @ 13:13Last night, I had a nightmare that I was one of a team of reporters sent to investigate a New-England-ish coastal town being terrorized by a plesiosaur-type sea monster. I was in this restaurant on a dock and the monster swam underneath and broke up through the floor and then everybody was in the water and it was eating people and it had this horrible roar that sounded like scraping metal.
Ugh, it was terrifying. *shivers*

in May 10th, 2013 @ 20:54So apparently, according to my dream last night, not being able to praise USA Today’s coverage of the space program on a message board because of a smartphone glitch somehow leads to holing up inside an abandoned church to escape monsters who can be defeated by plastic fruit and boxes full of tissue paper.

in June 7th, 2013 @ 06:38I had a dream two nights ago that I couldn’t fall asleep until I debugged all the code in the program that makes people fall asleep. It was in Java, and had class names very similar to those of the program I’ve been modifying at work. I was so tired, but I knew that I’d made a typo or forgot a semicolon somewhere and I couldn’t fall asleep until it was fixed, because the sleep program wouldn’t run….

in June 7th, 2013 @ 08:55I had a dream last night that would actually make for a really good movie– I ended in this weird maze with a bunch of kids my age who were all from subtly different alternate universes (nothing big or obvious like another side winning a war, just things like a film whose title was changed in post-production in our world being released under it’s original title, or a few of the astronauts from a space shuttle crew being different than the people who were chosen for it in our world.) We would suddenly shift between universes as we moved through the maze, and we were all trying to help each other find our way home to our original universe. There was one boy who had been arrested for murder in my timeline and most other peoples, who said his universe’s point of divergence was that he was innocent in his home timeline, so we helped him dye his hair to hide in timelines where he was guilty, but we never really knew if he was telling the truth or not (duh duh DUH!)

in July 17th, 2013 @ 09:20I don’t normally remember dreaming at all, but recently I’ve been remembering my dreams practically every night. And they seem to reflect what I was thinking about when I fell asleep. Last night, I had two distinct dreams, and the first one was weird as cake.
Dream 1: There was a new mall that opened in Virginia. It was huge too, practically the size of a small city. For some reason this mall had stuff that was actually interesting to my family and myself (other than GameStop, which is basically the only shop we care about in real life malls). It was so interesting, in fact, that we had a family trip to this mall to explore it. When we got there, we discovered that the foundations of the mall had anti-gravity installed so that the whole thing was floating a few hundred feet in the air. It looked like one of those flying islands from sub-par fantasy stories. I don’t remember how we got up there, but I remember one of the stores we explored. It was very spacious and very science-oriented. I was actually enjoying being there. Eventually we had to go home. I don’t remember getting home because at that point the dream skipped to an unspecified amount of time later. Some kind of apocalypse was happening that was going to wipe out a huge number of people on the surface of the Earth. I don’t remember exactly what the apocalypse was, but it involved lava. To be safe, we all went back to the floating mall – along with huge numbers of other families – to wait out this ground-based apocalypse. About this time, I thought “Floating islands are so stupid” but I was grateful for the altitude. Why I didn’t think that the first time we went to the mall, I have no idea. The mall was basically filled to capacity with people, and my family and I were standing near the edge. So we had an excellent view of some people who had decided that the impending apocalypse was an excuse to act very silly. One man had a homemade jet-pack and was trying to fly around. We all watched him with horror, as the nature of the apocalypse made us very distrustful of fire. We watched this man spin wildly a few feet off the ground, totally out of control, with shouts of “Stop! You’ll kill someone! Or several people!” He couldn’t hear us, of course, being so far away (though we could see him clearly). He just continued enjoying himself. Then several people went up in hot-air balloons. They flew high enough that we on the floating mall had to look up to see them. I guess that makes sense considering the situation, but we all regarded them with suspicion. So the apocalypse happened, and we were all OK, even the idiot with the jet-pack. The End.
Dream 2: I was on a forum-based avatar site having a private message conversation with another user. She was a little upset at me for being inactive in our RP. I apologized and explained that this was my alternate account, which I didn’t use as much and had a harder time keeping track of. In my main account, I named my screen-name after *Cskia. Then the person I was talking to tried to explain to me why she watched The Simpsons by sending me a clip. The End.
The truth is, I really do have an account on that site, but only one (and it isn’t named after *Cskia). On it, I’m in two RPs. One of them is an apocalypse RP (a mutant apocalypse, not a fire apocalypse, but I’m sure it influenced that), and the other is taking place in a school on a flying island.

in September 15th, 2013 @ 17:02Last night I dreamed I was at Alton Towers (this British theme park I’d been reading about on Wikipedia because a Disney blog had mentioned it), and there were these two insane guys running around stabbing people with knives and one of them spit in my ear and it was really creepy… so I woke up and then turned over and shook it off and fell asleep again. And then I dreamed I was at Space Academy and Matt Hooper from Jaws was my father.

in September 15th, 2013 @ 17:43The other night I dreamed that I was on a plane when suddenly it started dropping, and while it was falling and falling and falling, I remember thinking that I was definitely, definitely going to die – the falling sensation felt very real.
Is that what people mean when they talk about ‘that falling feeling while you sleep’? I can’t remember having experienced it before.

in September 15th, 2013 @ 19:36From time to time I’ve had dreams that involve sending someone a message that I would otherwise regret. Sometimes this is because I think I’m about to die – see above. Whenever this happens, I check my phone once I wake up to make sure I haven’t ruined my life by actually sending the message.

in September 23rd, 2013 @ 09:30Last night I dreamed I *did* find a copy of “Ghosts of the Abyss” on DVD (yesterday I went to see if our university library had it, but they didn’t), but it was the lame “magical realism” edition with the sea serpents and the unfrozen caveman, and I was watching and going “What the cake, this isn’t like the companion book!”
I think that’s really rare, that I noticed and called out weird things in a dream as being weird.

in November 24th, 2013 @ 10:08I dreamed a shadowy figure was haunting the church my family used to go to in our neighborhood back home– a guy in all black with a hat, like the antagonist in Detective Barbie. At one point I chased after him with a bunch of other kids and thought I grabbed him, but my hands went through like smoke and I thought maybe he really was a ghost. But it turned out that had just been a projection, and we managed to catch the real guy, unmask him, and turn him over to the police, whereupon he was sentenced to be beat up by cartoon characters.
Also, in what I think was an unrelated dream, one of the buildings on campus was suddenly a really cool zoo/aquarium place where the attractions included a tropical garden full of dinosaur statues and a guinea pig with leopard spots.

in December 15th, 2013 @ 21:42I dreamed about a random, sweet, attractive and young (-looking) Time Lord. I can’t remember anything else except what he looked like. After waking up, I was very confused when I looked up pictures of Peter Capaldi and realised it wasn’t his Doctor- had I actually invented someone? possibly forgotten who it was? I’ve now decided his appearance was a cross between Capaldi and Max Sweeney from The L Word (I’ve been watching his second season on it). It was strange because although I’ve had random people in my dreams before, I don’t picture their faces in any detail.

in February 3rd, 2014 @ 18:57Robert, do you remember how once upon a time ages ago (meaning 2008, the dark ages) one of your former interns was sailing on Amistad and we all went down to say hello because they were in DC, and we sang shanties and had a generally delightful time?
Because a couple of those details showed up in a dream last night. In the dream I was traveling through some town and saw the ship and stopped by to say hello, and in talking with the crew discovered a handful of mutual friends, which is wholly unsurprising, but I think one of them was your friend, which was funny. Also for having only seen Amistad once I somehow remembered the color scheme for her brightwork? I’m looking at pictures of her now, and I’m in no doubt she’s the schooner in my dream.

in February 3rd, 2014 @ 21:06I mean, since then I’ve known several people who’ve sailed on Amistad, I’ve heard about them not sailing for awhile, and then getting back on their feet, so it’s not like it was completely out of the blue, I just thought it was funny that I remembered those details.
She’s a lovely schooner, and I really like the mission of the organization. Maybe someday I’ll see if I can work on her.

in August 18th, 2014 @ 08:39Last night I dreamed that I had forgotten to get a signature to sign up for an extracurricular jazz band I was in… They wouldn’t let me in without the signature so during the performance, I screamed at everyone and ran out in a huff…
Then I had a dream that I had gone back in time, so that I was my five-years-ago self, but with all my current memories… There was some great tragedy at the school and i watched it all play put. Then I discovered that a girl from my school’s writers club had turned into some sort of magical witch. She knew that my mind was from the future and that I had the memories of this alternate timeline. So I went to her house. She gave me a sword, and then I had to slice open a bunch of monsters, some of whom were cleverly disguised evil looking pillows.

Then later on there were dogs but then they were goats and the dream ended with me holding a tiny baby Nigerian Dwarf goat.

The other people said “It’s sounds like a great story, except for (crossover character), we should take him out of it.”

I don’t remember the details (this was several years ago) but I do recall that it was a completely original story that I somehow composed in my sleep. I think it was even accompanied by a couple pictures in the same style as the one ones in the books. It was an interesting night.

in December 30th, 2014 @ 04:25Okay, so, last night I had probably the coolest dream I’ve ever had in my life, and I just feel the need to share it with someone!
Okay, so, the dream started off with this awesome anime animation going on. It opened to a shot of some shirtless men hunched over computers. Suddenly, a red traingle-ish mark appeared on one of the men’s back, just below his neck. He got up and staggered around a bit (with some cries of “Get it off! Get it off!”) before falling over dead. Then it showed this bat attached to someone’s back. The bat got off of his back and flew away, but the front of it was completely red with blood, and it left a bloody mark behind it.
Then, it showed a few one-second scenes, like… a picture of a skeleton man with a mask over his face, and blood on his bones, saying “What doesn’t exist?” and then a disembodied voice saying “Could it be that bat man despises his own existence?”
Then, it moved on to a group of doctors standing around a table. The angle was positioned so that whoever was on the table couldn’t be seen, but it was apparently a woman having a baby. Then, it showed this small one-man rocketship going very, very fast up into the sky. Then something detached, and opened up. It was a bat with a head of a man. It was apparently covered in blood. It turned around and started to fall downwards.
Going back to the woman giving birth, the ceiling crashed in – with little debris fr some reason – and there was a ‘slap’ sound. The doctors seemed suddenly horrified, crying out “It’s that thing!” “No one can stop it!” “Doesn’t exist!” until the main doctor said “Never mind, we can do nothing for her. Maybe we can use this to save the child.” Then a moment of silence “All that matters is that we have a fully formed little boy”And then I woke up.

in February 21st, 2015 @ 16:24I had a dream the other night that my family left for Mexico on a road trip, but we forgot my sister (my dad didn’t want to go back for her, saying “she’ll catch up”, but I insisted) and one other thing, so we had to go back and get them. I found my sister easily, but I couldn’t find the other thing! I looked in a jar (which was empty), but when I tried to shut it something pushed back/it wiggled, and when I opened the jar again there was a cat inside! I handed the cat to my sister and then looked in our pantry, and there was a baby inside! My sister put the cat outside to find its home, and she went to hold the baby, but I yelled at her to wash her hands before she touched the baby.
And then I woke up.

I’d forgotten we had rehearsal & felt awkward so I just kind of avoided them. I was looking for some volumes of the Eva manga in the manga section, but all the ones they had were ones I already owned. Then this guy I know walked out of a secret closet and I tried to go say hi but there were so many anime fans that I couldn’t get to him in time. Then we went on the band trip- the one I’m not going on because is don’t want to. Bluhh.

in February 21st, 2015 @ 19:40Let’s see… the other day I had a dream where I was at the mall because there was supposed to be a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu concert there. There was a crowd of people waiting for it to begin (in my old elementary school’s cafeteria?? but it was also in the mall??) and we were watching videos of Kyary performing on one of those TVs on a cart. Then I left because I wanted to buy a drill from a store at the other end of the mall. Somehow I got distracted by a display of clothes outside the store and ended up accidentally buying a second drill that I didn’t need, which made me really sad because it was expensive and I wasted a ton of money on it. I also saw a wig in the store that I wanted to buy, but I didn’t because it cost $168. So I wandered around awkwardly carrying these drills in plastic bags that they didn’t fit in for a while until some guy told me that the concert was about to start. I ran across the mall as fast as I could, but when I got there it had already started and they wouldn’t let me in.
I’ve actually had a strange number of dreams that take place in the mall (or various different weird, otherworldly versions of the real mall, at least). This most recent one seems to be a direct sequel to the last, because my dream-self was thinking about the events of the previous dream and even went back to the same nonexistent store at one point. This happens with my dreams a lot.

When I tried to explain to my drama teacher that i had auditioned as a joke, she would hear none of it and insisted I take the part. We then realized that we had two weeks til the performance and began rehearsing frantically. Except the rehearsals consisted of me, the lighting director, and her younger sister (who plays young Cosette).

in February 27th, 2015 @ 03:18A couple of nights ago I dreamed that I was exploring some kind of vast extradimensional building with my ex-girlfriend. Some parts of it were a mansion and some parts of it were a giant school gymnasium and some were other things that I can’t remember now. It was inhabited by a number of unfathomable beings or entities that were impossible to communicate with and behaved in unpredictable ways. The exploration was shot through with uncomfortable silences and tension — the chronology was definitely post-breakup, even though in real life we’ve barely spoken since then. About halfway through, I couldn’t remember if we were trying to get deeper in or trying to find the way out.
It was all terribly easy to interpret in terms of recent events in my life.
The clearest image in my memory, though, had nothing to do with my emotional state that I could see. It was one of the dwellers in the building: an orchid-like efflorescence of red light shot through with veins of blue, the size of a small tree, squatting in the middle of an abandoned indoor basketball court. It should have pulsed like a massive heart, but it didn’t; it just sat there, clear and vibrant and perfectly still, like a Chihuly sculpture. Its name, as I was helpfully informed by a plaque on the door, was “Phlhlhltholge.” I hope that was just my sleeping brain’s failure to spell Phlegethon and not the first visitation of an Outer God.

in March 20th, 2015 @ 09:39I really don’t remember much of it, but I just had a dream where I went to Portand, OR over Spring Break (which is actually where we are going at some point next week… I honestly don’t know when we’re leaving, actually) Anyway, my cousins and great-aunt and -uncles live there, so we’ll be busy, Anyway, we go to my cousins’ house and for some reason meet Randall Munroe on the way, or maybe he’s already there – I don’t really remember. So we’re in the house, and I keep on making all kinds of xkcd references and quotations. This is where it gets even fuzzier, and I’m pretty sure that somewhere along the line, random MBers begin to show up. I never see your faces (because I never have) but I know exactly who you are. This is also the time where in the real world I was drifting in and out of sleep. At some point, I just woke up completely and forgot almost everything.

I dreamed that an atomic bomb had just exploded, which was bad enough except that my brain decided to make it a NESTED dream where I dreamed of waking up, trying to reassure myself it was just a dream, and going online only to discover it had really happened. Then I woke up for real, turned over and tried to fall back asleep only to dream I was being chased by a slasher-killer who could find me no matter how many times I tried to get lost in a crowd, and nobody would help me. So I woke up again, and tried to fall asleep again. I don’t remember what I dreamed about that third time, but I don’t think it was scary.

in April 8th, 2015 @ 07:39I was with a group of people I knew, in the Divergent universe, doing the initiation for… in the dream I thought it was Erudite, but Amity was involved somehow – maybe we were transfers from there? Huh- I can’t picture what colours most of us were wearing. We were outside the city in a flooding building. Our instructor was definitely wearing blue and she had the face of a mutual friend whose picture I saw on voldynet last night, and towards the end I noticed that one of my teammates looked like a friend of mine. They were saying that they’d use simulations and judge us on how our simulation scores improved from this first stage. I remember thinking, “wow, just like Dauntless. [mental images from the first book’s description of Dauntless initiation] I guess all the factions do it that way,” and feeling surprised.
In other words, I knew I was in a fictional universe while I was dreaming. I was aware I was in a simulation.
(This is normal for me – I’m vaguely aware I’m dreaming when I’m dreaming, but I don’t get to consciously control my actions.)
(I haven’t had/made time to see Insurgent yet, but it’s been on my mind.)

in April 11th, 2015 @ 10:51I dreamed I was trying to dye my hair more brown (because of dream logic), so I grabbed the bottle that I thought was for brown, but it was for blue, so my hair started turning blue, but I was able to wash it out and get it back to its natural brown color. (This wasn’t real hair dye, it was something like paste that you rubbed into your hair to change the color.)
It was nice of my subconcious to remind me to always read labels carefully.

(They did mention that the constitution had been amended and that the only alien most people would be comfortable voting for at the present moment was a Star Wars human because aside from some of them having Force-sensitivity, there is really no indication Star Wars humans are at all different from Earth humans.)
Yes, it was weird. But I think I would be willing to vote for Matthew Organa in 2016.

in April 12th, 2015 @ 21:25I was thinking about this dream of yours and I had an idea for a story where somebody figures out how to bring fictional characters into the real world, and everybody has to navigate the legal and moral ramifications of this. I really want to write that now.
(Unless you wanted it to be a giant crossover fanfic, you’d have to write with fictional fictional characters, but that could be interesting– playing with archetypes rather than someone else’s creations.)

in July 24th, 2015 @ 11:33I dreamed that the chaplain of my former school was accusing me of murder. It was actually quite hilarious. That turned into (possibly different dream:) me and several others investigating some mystery with the help of Sherlock Holmes as portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. At one point the group of us were discussing things in a room which was apparently in someone’s house, seeing as when we heard people approaching, we ended up having to escape out the windows and flee through some nearby fields.

All I know is mine involved two tall ships, a few comic book style bombs, Cuba, and many, many crabs that are apparently useful as projectiles.

in October 10th, 2015 @ 21:31A few weeks ago, I dreamed I was in a library that had some very interesting museum-style displays about polar exploration, so I would walk over and try to read the plaques, but every time the text would blur in my vision when I tried, so I couldn’t read anything. Apparently my subconcious has graphics limitations. Has anyone else ever had a similar problem in a dream?

Usually what happens is I decide I don’t like how the dream is going and either reset it back to an earlier stage or change what’s happening, but it feels like it takes a lot of effort. I’ve made myself fly in dreams before too but I think it makes me tense up in real life, so usually I just let the dream happen.

in October 20th, 2015 @ 23:35Last night, I dreamed this guy was telling me this whole crazy story about how his mom was allowed to borrow and fly a jetliner with his family onboard even though she didn’t have a pilot’s license and didn’t even know how to fly it, and the dream was “showing” everything in the story happening as he was telling it, TV-style. This included the plane flying very low over a city, circling around buildings, and turning at 90 degrees to fly sideways down streets.
Now, for a dream, none of that is especially strange. But what was strange is that in the dream I called the storyteller out for it and started listing the various liability, security, and physics that made it impossible– and as far as I can remember, they were all real-world logical arguments, not dream logic.
The weirdest part was that shortly before my alarm woke me up, I got to this point in my rant where I said something like “And of course the military would freak out! In the 90s there was this plane that lost all the oxygen in the cabin and everybody died but planes are really stable in the air so it just kept flying for hours on the same course and the air traffic control guys freaked out because they wouldn’t respond on the radio, so they sent *F-14s* to intercept and follow it! And that was before 9/11!”
Which is a true story that happened almost exactly as I described (I just got the model of the fighter jet wrong), which I had randomly read the Wikipedia page about several months before as part of a discussion of plane crashes on another site.

1) I was in a cool Victorian house with a stereoscopic viewer and a lot of cool slides to look at in it, but I was with some little kids who thought it was boring and AU had to try to get them to behave.
2) I clicked a random link to a news story online and learned that the National Geographic Society had bought the Daily Mail.
3) I was vacationing in the seaside town in England I had watched a video about the day before (Teignmouth), and suddenly was being chased by wolves made out of shadow until I took shelter in a McDonald’s.

in November 21st, 2015 @ 10:23I feel like I have to write this dream down before I forget it.
I dreamed I was in the woods somewhere, and apparently it contained a lot of things from my past. I would look around and see various drawings and toys that I had drawn/owned when I was younger. Then I found this cool gun, which could clone any item any time as long as the sales number was punched into it. I had found a cool toy on my walk and had read the tag and the sales number on it, and made it appear. However, it was alive. It was a horse with one leg missing (which was rather odd since the toy was a stuffed dog) and so I tried to ride the horse, but it was so small it was hard to hang on. I climbed on her back and she started running despite only having three legs, and got us both tangled up in a clothesline. That was when I woke up, but now I have a wish to write a story about a living toy horse with three legs.

in May 2nd, 2016 @ 14:24I dreamed I was in a parody of The Matrix (because I had just watched one a few hours before) that ended up having a chase scene in a carnival with everyone dressed like superheroes and at one point I got shot and was bleeding. I briefly woke up, realized I had actually not been shot, and rolled over and went back to sleep.
