It’s that time of year again: the very date on which our beloved blog erupted onto an unsuspecting Internet, to the discombobulation of just about everybody. It seems like only yesterday, and now suddenly we’re seven years old! Seven eventful years, and nary a squib in the bundle.
Expressions of dysphasic ecstasy and delirious incredulity will be most welcome, of course.
Pies for all! Hurray! I have had a great two years on the gaboomba and an excellent seven (so far) on mb!
Nine years… My mind boggles. Of course, it’s always boggling over something-or-other anyway, but still — nine years!
Well, I’ve had fun, and Mostly Harmless seems to be progressing nicely. I’d call it time well spent.
Boggling over blogging?
Bloggling!
Blogoggling!
Indeed!
What is the Gaboomba? Sorry if I sound clueless.
Prussia:
Before I learned to blog, I had a website called the Muse Magazine Fan Page, which included a section in which I’d post email messages and drawings and sound files that people sent me. I called that section the Ga llery + Guest boo k + M essage B o a rd, or “Gaboomba.”
The Gaboomba closed down when MuseBlog started. It remained visible for a while, but we lost it and the rest of the Fan Page to an unfortunate combination of a computer virus and a hard-drive meltdown. Maybe parts of it are still archived on the Wayback Machine or somewhere.
Oh…
Indeed! If you check the way back machine, you can find my first posts among much else on the gaboomba!
By Jove, there it is.
Seven! In about 2, 3, or 4 years, the blog will be as old as some of its younger MuseBloggers! That will be interesting.
What’s a squib in the bundle?
A squib is a defective firecracker that doesn’t explode. I’m pretty sure that’s what J. K. Rowling had in mind when she used the word to refer to non-magical offspring of witches and wizards.
Wow, Museblog is only seven years old? It seems as infinite in time and space as the galaxy, but I guess even infinity can have a starting point. I know that I survived for years before I was invited to the ‘Blog, but looking back, I’m really not sure how I did.
Thank you for a wonderful seven years (Although I’ve only been here for four or five of them– I don’t know if 2007 counts, since I only got here at Christmas)– and here’s to many, MANY more!
No power in the Net can stop us.
For Great And Powerful Administrators:
Seven times it is now
That this worthy crowd
Has held a celebration
Of the instigation
Of a beloved haven
Where we are saved
Some of the pain of dealing
With folk ignorant of our feelings
About the joys of life
And the sources of our strife.
So discussions we engender
About the universe’s splendor
And utter such gems rare
As: CRUSTI VOLANTI NOLI OBSTARE.
What I am really trying to say
Is that our lives were bettered by the day
That this site was unveiled.
So you now shall be regaled
From many longitudes and latatitudes
As we extend our gratitude.
Thanks, CP! It’s always nice to be regaled — especially if it involves pies. Speaking of which, chocolate cream with graham-cracker-crumb crust is my incoming projectile of choice today. I’ll keep my mouth open, just in case.
Really? Only seven? And I’ll have my fourth blogiversary in November… I guess that makes me on the blog for a little over half of its existence. Wow.
Happy birthday, MuseBlog, and many happy returns! I’d get you something nice, but I think it’d be like a sand to a universe of beaches compared to what you’ve gotten me.
Happy birthday, MuseBlog!
Someday, when MuseBlog has continued on far into the timestream of us lesser mortals, we shall look back upon this day and laugh at how young we were.
Since a few people here have posted how long they’ve been on MuseBlog, I decided to calculate how long I’ve been posting. Unless my math is off, I’ve been at least lurking on the Blog for almost exactly three and a half years (give or take an hour or three), and I’ve been posting for two and a half days less than that. (Both of these numbers are based on the date I started posting, so they include days that I wasn’t actually on this site. If you only count days when I visited this site, it’s considerably less.) So I’ve been on the Blog for almost exactly half of its life. For some reason, this makes me feel accomplished.
Awesome!
I’ve been here for only 2/7 of it’s life, but that’ll change.
It has been a delight. And an inspiration.
I may be quiet, so it may not be obvious that I LOVE being a GAPA. Big thanks to the MuseBloggers and the other GAPAs for enriching my life.
Hmm… I’ve been here five years. How things have changed. There are so many people who are also on the 2007 list who I remember well, but who aren’t here any more. I joined a month after Alice, and a few months before KaiYves and Castle. Those are the only other people from then who are still active, as far as I can tell.
Seven years is a long time, and I love how much everything has progressed. The blog is a wonderful place to be – thank you to all the GAPAs for making it so.
And thanks in return to all of you for making it so.
I’ve been here three years, since 2009, and you guys are the greatest bunch I’ve ever had the pleasure to talk to.
Happy (probably late) Birthday, Museblog!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUSEBLOOOOG!!! AAAAND HAPPY GAPA APPRECIATION DAY!
…OH NOOO
I DIDN’T COMPOSE A SONG THIS YEAR!!
and I don’t have time now
I WILL THINK OF SOMETHING DO NOT WORRY IN THE MEANTIME HERE ARE SONGS FROM OTHER YEARS:
[from 2007, when MB turned ONE year old!]
“GAPA Appreciation Day Song
Oh great administrators
We thank you all a bunch
You’ve always been there for us
Even during lunch
You moderate our comments
Which must take a lot of time
So there’s no denying it
You’re really very kind
HAPPY G-A-P-A APPRECIATION DAY!!
You’ve led us through out troubles
You’ve helped us through out plights
You’ve got all the answers
Even the one to life (42)
You’ve tought us all so much
You’re knowledge is unmatched
You’ve given us so much,
So we’d like to give some back!
HAPPY G-A-P-A APPRECIATION DAY!!
You’re smart beyond reason
You’re wise beyond compare
And there’s no denying that
You’ve got a certain flair
You’ve given us things to talk about
Places to rant and rave
Pies, Poems and Writing
Whatever it is we crave
HAPPY G-A-P-A APPRECIATION DAY!!
So today we’ll celebrate
Each and every thing you do
And I’m sure it’s no surprise
We all platonically love you!
So Rosanne and Robert
We name this day for you
‘Cause you’ve never forgotten us
You’ve stuck with us through and through!
HAPPY G-A-P-A APPRECIATION DAAAAAAAY!!”
[And this one from it’s second birthday, a ballad, though with some more dubious rhyme and stubborn ignorance of meter]

The Ballad of Museblog and the GAPAs
Once, long ago, before Museblog came about
There was (and is!) a great Magazine
Filled with science, canceling all doubts
That any was more fit for a certain group of teens:
The kind read and wrote, all just for fun
Who strayed away from the norm,
They didn’t watch much tv, the swam in the sun
Reveled in things like this Mag’s different form
It talked not of fashion or makeup or glitz;
Not of cars or celebrities
But instead dwelled in odd facts and wit
Language, math, and history
This magazine, rightly christened Muse
Was more often then not a source of joy
A chance for these kids of a different hue
To escape from the reality that’s employed
So one day, a writer, esteemed for the knowledge he shaped
Had this fateful thought: “Why should such a treasure
Come only once a month? Why limit such an escape?
We should give them a place to converge, at their leisure!â€
So this writer called Robert, he modeled and molded,
And a Fan page was what he wrought
Slowly but surely it unfurled and unfolded
But this was not the end of his thoughts
He set up GaBoomBa, a place where could write
The Musers, at their own will
Their messages and comments were like sparkling lights,
Guiding others to this new place of thrills
And so GaBoomBa grew, but no longer were there
Just letters, there were conversations
From one to another, and Robert got his share
Of these these bright-eyed children’s revelations
So, he decided, we’ll change this format a bit!
Make it easier for them to talk, sing, and mourn;
He uploaded new software and pulled off some tricks,
And lo! Museblog was born!
First, tentatively, then with greater rush
The Musers took to the space
So Robert invited Rosanne to share the moderating brush
His writing partner and he, together they made it great
So, within time, a year had passed
With it bringing floods of new bloggers
They commented rapidly, ever so fast
The Admins worked at the speed of a blur
But, came a time when Rosanne had to leave
If only for a short while
But she, her bright mind did perceive
A way to keep up their smiles
She invited two people, as Robert had before,
To share in the Blogging resplendence
Rebecca and Paul, who we had previously adored
Soon became even more a part of it’s recesses
So now, as a second year draws to a close
And we still are cheering you on
You let us converse and rant and compose
As we approach yet another dawn
So let us take a moment to remember all you’ve done
The hour’s you’ve so willingly put in
You can’t conceive how we’d mourn if you were gone,
Near as close to us as our kin
Robert, the wise, the first to bring forth
This place of such happiness
He answers our questions with lightness and warmth
None can doubt your finesse
And Rosanne, ever the bright
Smiling as she mod’s even we can see,
Though we’re miles and miles out of sight,
We bow to you and doff our hats, on bended knee
Rebecca, though she dove in later on,
Is a sorceress of the mouse and the brush,
She weaves pictures of Muses and colors upon
A palate, of digital art as well as on paper lush
And dear Paul, though he lives far away
Is never not close to our hearts
Music, of all sorts he can play
On bagpipes and hurdy-gurdies, sounds rivaling art
So, our dear Admins, this day is for you
To do with as you please
Relax, enjoy, bask in your glorious reviews
And pies, as far as thy eyes can see.
[}~ [}~ [}~”
and for now… WOOOO!! *confetti* *sparkling juices*
“And pies as far as our eyes can see.” So say we all. Thank you, Jadestone.
“Even during lunch”.
Killer line.
MuseBlog is to inspire and to be inspired.
And I’ve been here since 2008. About a quarter of my life.
It would be an underestimation to say that MuseBlog makes up only 25% percent of me.
Happy belated birthday, MB!

To years of inspiration, playing chess and writing stories out of nothing.
The need to EXPRESS, to communicate!
To pies in the face, this is the place where we’re all ma-a-a-a-ad.
To invention, good intentions, the Woven Dimensions
Not to mention, the Kokonventions we’ve ha-a-a-a-ad.
To singing Broadway songs loudly in a crowded hall! To lols! To Rosanne and Paul!
To Robert and Rebecca, to GIANT ROBOT MECHA, to fandoms, memes, and fads!
To all the giant squids of the sky and sea …
La vie MB!
(Not my best parody, but I wanted to write something.)
Waaaait. There should be another line after “Woven Dimensions”. Unfortunately, I can’t think of one that rhymes. >_<
