The Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman sent us a couple of sound files for his film project. We haven’t had time to convert them to MP3 format, so we can’t be sure you’ll be able to play them until you report in. Here they are:
NEW! Treble_Cone_Freeskier (who now seems to be spelling her name “Trebel_Cone_Freeskier”) has taken Midnight Fiddler’s storyboards and turned them into a real, honest-to-goodness film strip.
You just had to post this right as my dad was telling me to get off the computer, huh?
The sound files work fine for me. And, Grant, if you need any help with video editing I’m pretty good at that.
Well, I am certainly feeling spring, spring, springy after listening to that!
Seriously, Grant, you’ve got a great radio voice. And the script made me want to shake my fist defiantly at January.
That’s great!
*proceeds to have a pleasant life*
Wow that is SO COOL!!!!
You should become a radio host – I totally agree with Rebecca.
Sorry, its already warm where I am. It was way cool though! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
No headphones at school. I’ll check it out durring free period.
Darned school.
I might be able to check it out at my break, though…
Oh and, yes, Grant, you have a good radio voice.
to-ta-lly! you do grant. really.
That was funny! *tries to say “proceeds to have a pleasant life” without copying Purple Panda and fails* Ah well.
You do have a really good radio voice, Grant.
My favorite line is “and we also hope that you might one day be able to escape the 1950s.” Oh, oh, and at that bit, it shows a picture of either Michael J Fox or a DeLorean! Like at the “global warming” bit it shows a photo of Al Gore!
I don’t have a video camera, and I don’t have video editing software, and I’ve never even tried to edit videos, so whoever wants to get with some of their friends and make a video with these announcement segments, go right ahead.
I can hear the voice, but I can’t see any images.
Nice!
I love it! You have a great, Orson Welles-y kind of voice. I can’t wait to see the video.
That is so great! That actually reminds me of some recordings I made. That really made me laugh though, you should make some more.
Haha, it’s great.
Unfortunately, wearing just-above-knee-length skirts makes me feel cold, rather than cheerful. Maybe I’m doing it wrong. In the meantime, I’ll go exchange my warm weather outfit for something more appropriate to early April in the pacific northwest.
XD XD XD That is really awesome! *applauds* And the 1950s line is a stroke of brilliance.
Well, hopefully you won’t get a swelled ego reading all these comments…
…yeah, right.
Damn. Can’t listen to it since the headphones are broken. Ah well, I’m sure it’s great.
Thats freaking awesome and really hilarious man. That’s insane. Too bad i can’t really follow those instructions very well, here in Florida. (For any northerners who need to be made jealous, it was 83 degrees today! Hope youre enjoying the mid-40s!)
Oh yeah is there supposed to be a video or something?
When I was listening to it, I accidentally put it on high, and well, it just said,” step 2, go commando!” but than I turned it down. You should be a radio host.
There is no video: that’s just the audio. If there is a video in the works, I won’t be making it. See post 11 for more details.
I’m listening to the firs part right now for the second time.
It’s pretty funny.
Wow, Grant, I never expected your voice to sound like that. For some reason I think I expected it to be higher. Not in a bad way, but just….different. Very adult, it’s scary.
Heh, that’s great. Who is going to be the demonstrator, er, “anonymous peon?” Somehow I imagine that putting a video of a MBer streaking commando through someplace and giving the finger to the skies would violate more than a few GAPA rules…..but oh well. I’m sure the imaginative ones will come up with something. If I a camera that actualy took decent movies that I could modify in any way (as if I’d know how to anyway….) I might send in something, but until then I’ll watch from the sidelines and applaud. *applauds vigilantly*
22- Well, I don’t usually sound like that. That’s my announcer voice. But the pitch is around the same.
23- well, It does say which finger.
I’ll help with video editing, as soon as I get around to it.
The only good things that came out of the Fifties were my parents, Godzilla, and Sputnik.
24~ Yes, I imagine that you don’t always sound that chipper and exuberant.
25~ *coughcoughcough* It’s implied, lets put it that way…”the finger” pretty much means one thing.
28- It would be very funny not to use that one.
29~ Hmm, yes, give the pinky to the skies….and scream “PIE YOU TO BUNNYLAND YOU EVIL JANUARY!!!!!!!!!”
Hmm, now that’s and idea. Maybe insted of streaking they could just wear a bathing suit, that might work too.
30- well, doesn’t going commando just mean not wearing underwear?
31 – Yeah, that is the normal use of the word. (if you’ve watched Naruto – Real Ninjas, you’ll know a bit about going commando)
32- Words
30, 31, 32- Yes, yes, I meant going without knickers, not without clothing. For that one, our “anonymous peon” could hunch down in the grass with a spear or something. I believe it would be especially hilarious to take things in the wrong way, much as Man and Fern Fiddler suggested. It would increase the overall satirical and farcical nature of the film.
By the way, Fiddler, I hope you don’t mind me calling you that, it just that I appreciate alliteration and it looks pretty cool that way.
35~ No, I don’t mind being called Fern Fiddler. If I was upset you’d know about it.
For what it’s worth, I’m attempting to draw out a series of pictures of what I imagine the filmstrip to look like. It’s not all that great, as my artistic self is very limited by ability, and even more so on the computer, but it’s just for an example.
Okay GAPAs, check your email. I just sent the pictures I drew. Everyone, please don’t laugh too hard, my drawings on the computer are a little less gifted than your average two-year-old’s.
I’m not sure if I got all the words right (I took it from the written version) but it’s a general idea.
you do have a good radio voice………that was random, but isn’t everything here?
Midnight Fiddler set right to work and drafted storyboards for the project:
39~ Oh wow, you made it all long! It looks nice that way. thanks!
It’s just a suggestion, so if everyone hates it that’s fine.
(40) To keep the original layout, I’d have to shrink it past the point of legibility to fit the column. This way all the individual elements are full size.
Oh my, these ridiculous Gilligan’s Island type pants are short and khaki! As an anonymous peon I feel oddly empowered leading an instructional video. Am I staving off meself? Curse you ghastly shadow of January!
Oh. My.
I have nothing else to say.
Do you mind if I film this??? Make it into a movie???
so far mine is a teeny bit of recorded clips, and a mish-mosh of other things. Since I REALLY wanted to make it, but it is nighttime so I just decided to make a video by myself and yeah. I think you will like it. Is it OK if i send in the second part first because I havent finished he first part yet
44- Pardon me, but that is what the point of these clips are: so that whoever wants to can film it.
Grant and GAPAs I just sent my finished product to the GAPAs so I’m hoping they can put it on because I spnt a while doing it. I might do a better one though
41~ That’s fine, I like teh way you did it.
So….does anyone have anything to say about it, or do you all hate it?
The storyboard thing is nice! I especially like the way you drew global warming and the jan-bandit’s bright orange hair.
GAPAs have you gotten my email??? What do you think of it???
Loved it! We’ll post links here and at the the top of the thread.
Oops – I accidentally sent the unfinished version – I’ll send the totally finished version!
phew – i just sent off the finished version – I cant beleive I sent the wrong one
oh well and my name was a typo – I’m also embaressed
Hahahaha! That’s awesome! That is so freaking cool! I especially like what you did with step 2. Is that a thong?
that was really funny, all of them!
54 – Grant – hahaha NO!!! thats not a thong. Thats a normal pair of bikini bottoms from a bathing suit
YES!!. Thank you you put up the right one!
What do you guys think of my amazing dancing skills?? haha
It’s a WMV file. any way to get it to quick time/ Real media?
Never mind. just had to use Linux.
49~ Thanks. I decided to make the hair orange, because the brown didn’t show up.
53~ Heh, I had a similar thing happen when I tried to send in the storyboard- I forgot to attach it!
I know the feeling.
56~ It’s terrifying just how close some of them are getting to be nowadays… *shudders*
I haven’t seen it yet, but I can’t wait!
Just watched it! Bravo Zoe!! I like it, the only problem was that I couldn’t see it very well due to the screen being dark and the video being really tiny. But it was great!!
Wonderful dancing, by the way.
whoa!!! i just watched, go Zoe! (poetic?!) i didn’t have any trouble with small video though.
60 – the bathing suit was at a weird angle so it looked really small. Trust me they re a normal size.
I’m glad my dancing skills have finally been acknowledged by the general public. Haha – I suck!! But thats OK – I just dance for fun!!
Nuuuuuuu!! My computer can’t open the video!
I’m on a Mac, OS 10.4. If that helps.
64- Any way to use a Windows PC? If not:
Any way to use a Linux PC? if not
Go to microsoft and get WM9 for Mac.
It needs more pixels, its rather grainy! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Expletive! Expletive!
Ugh, I downloaded WM9 and my computer won’t let me decompress it. And I have no access to a PC… although I could go to the library! In the meantime, I’ll keep trying to open it. Zoe, this better be good. ^_~
Oi, duh. I didn’t have the necessary decompressing software.
Okay, downloading StuffIt.
Installing StuffIt.
Installing WM9.
Downloading movie.
Watching movie.
Haha, it’s great! And totally worth the crazy amounts of installing and downloading! ^_^
63~ I meant in general. I actually wouldn’t have been able to tell in the video if I hadn’t have already known what it was. It was fun though. Don’t worry about your dancing, mine is worse!!!
69 –
haha i want to make a better one with more acting in it
70- That would be cool. Like, a live-action version! I agree with Fern Fiddler about the dancing, by the way; sometimes when I try to dance people point out how “white” I am. I wasn’t aware that had become a bad thing.
71 – what do you mean how “white” you are?!?!?!?!?!? *is confused!!*
72- Apparently they mean I’m bad at dancing. The problem with today’s popular dance scene is that there’s no right way to dance, but there are apparently lots of very wrong ways to dance, and I seem to find all of them.
73~
I can bumble my way through a Virginia Reel, or hack my way through a waltz, on a good day. Thus ends my dancing ability. I’ve done historic dancing before during seminars, it was really, really fun. I would love to be really good at the dances though, and not have to concentrate so hard on not falling over. that would be fun.
I wish we still had the Civil War ball that used to be every year in a town nearby, now that was magical. *drifts away on memories*
Of course, none of this has anything to do with the filmstrip……
74- Ah, it doesn’t matter. The point of the blog is enjoying conversation with other people.
Grant, is that your voice? It sounds really… like the kind you hear on the radio announcing songs, or something. In a good way. And I like them! Very funny
