I missed it by 4 hours and 33 minutes!
Oh well. Happy Solstice!
Next up: Festivus.
I’m not exactly sure what that is, but it sounds fun.
Someone will probably explain to me what Festivus is in the next five minutes.
Nevermind. Now I know.
Wow, you’re smart, Ishmael. However, it won’t be me. I’m with you: I got no clue what festivus is. It sounds like a time to go to the fair.
happy unshapened green pencil day everybody!
What is festivus?
Shoot, there was probably some Pagan festival for the solstice or something but my friend didn’t invite me so I don’t know if there was.. I want to go to one of those one day… Oh well, I had a violin lesson, so I probably wouldn’t have been able to go anyway..
Um, Festivus was created on Seinfeld. Google it.
Festivus is some weird holiday on some odd TV show. That’s really all I know.
Festivus is some queer holiday on some odd TV show. That’s really all I know.
WHAT ABOUT FISH DAY?!?!??
I guess Festivus is Midsummer.
Festivus is a holiday parody to Christmas. It was invented on Sienfeld.
Hey, be nice! Some of us are a little sensitive about our favorite holidays. Festivus is usually celebrated Dec. 23. Its origin is a Seinfeld episode. (Seinfeld’s a TV show from the 1990s.) Some people on the show celebrated it and then it caught on in the real world.
i think it was explained in one of those 300-something posts on december blizards
In 4 days it’ll be 1642! Yay!
oh, yeah! the Bowl team went to a school in our league to compete, and on the milk cartons they served us it said the milk expired December 29 1594. No joke, that. Pretty weird typo.
Yeah. It was hilarious. It also kinda of ruined my appetite.
Winter only just started? Ooooogg…
*grumblemumble*
YAAAY WINTER!!
Somebody ought to tell the weather that it shouldn’t dip below freezing until Dec. 21. In Chicago, this is not likely, though.
I like spring. And fall. But summer can be annoying and winter is just plain stupid. I hate the cold.
I hate the cold too. Now I shall go look up festivus on wikepedia or something. I am supposed to be in school now, but I am going somewhere to visist my cousins. No school!
I like it. It’s better than the heat. I would much rather shiver than sweat.
I totally agree with MG… And besides, winter is a whole lot shorter than summer…. and it’s actually nice here in the winter… Winter here is about the same temperature as a New England autumn, though it doesn’t have the pretty trees and stuff… Although the pear-like trees do turn nice colors..
YESSSSSSSSSS! I AM OUT OF SCHOOL UNTIL JAN 3!!!!!!!!!
wikipedia is nice, but i don’t like what it says about koko, however accrate it may be
Happy solstice everybody!
Em darling, just change what Wikipedia says about Kokopelli. Go ahead, change it. We have a saying here in Kiador-“Accuracy is overrated.” There’s another one that goes “Moderation is overrated. No, I’m full, thank you.”
FORGET ABOUT SOLSICE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ——— sry hyper moment…. i still meant everything i said……
I know a family that celebrates the winter solstice by having a “dark party.” They get dressed in black clothes, turn out all the lights and have dark colored food for dinner. They put tons of candles all around the room so they can see what they’re eating. The room looks really pretty that way, though it’s not all that dark with all the candles glowing. I told them they should call it a “light party” instead.
Yes, but light doesn’t sound as good.
i would change it, but that would mean i would have to research kokopeilli, which i don’t really feel like doing. i mean, i couldn’t just say he is a muse that throws pies, could i?
on the topic of wikipedia being messed up, mutt’s mad at them for not…*sudden mindblank* oh, a warning:
if mutt starts talking in third person, she’s officially long gone to the insane side. oh, and wikiquote doesn’t have the david letterman quote on the quote page. i think we should go on a mad wikiquote rampage
ebeth got a wikipedia warning one day cuz she was really bored.
*is shamed* she clicked “random article” and got the flag of mozambique and…edited it. interestingly.
it is the tenth day of solstice people!!! (and the seventh day of christmas)
yayness!
