Happy 149th Birthday, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle!

Born on 25 May 1859, he gave the world Sherlock Holmes (who, by the way, said both “elementary” and “my dear Watson,” but never together). A few pies of gratitude, please, for the Master.

*bday choklit pies* The Hound of the Baskervilles is Sherlock Holmes, isn’t it? That’s the only story of his that I’ve read, and that was awhile ago. I liked it, but I keep adding more things to my “to read” list that keep me from getting to the rest of the Sherlock Holmes stories. :p

P.S.- I do not think you were behind Piltdown Man. That was Dawson and Woodward, the sneaks.

    I love sherlock holmes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I grow up, if I have the money, I’ll start collecting copies of Sherlock Holmes-The complete thing or separate books-paperbound, clothbound, leatherbound-whatever.

While I do not appreciate the fact that Mr. Holmes smoke, drank, and did cocaine, I will nonetheless pie you with a shepherd’s pie. *pie*

I recently found a copy of the complete, annotated Sherlock Holmes and have read nothing else for weeks. Huzzah!

8,9-I have had the complete sherlock holmes, but it is not annotated :( .

And you people do realize that it is Sir Arthur’s birthday, not Sherlock Holmes’s.

    Incidentally, when is Sherlock’s birthday?

Thank you, Sir Arthur, for writing The Hound Of The Baskervilles, which I have just finished reading. I believe it is one of the best books ever written.

Ooh la la! Happy birthday, maitre of detective stories!

My favorites are “The man with the twisted lip”, “The Hound of the Baskervilles,”, “The Return of Sherlock Holmes, “The blue Carbuncle” *drones on* Oh forget it…I think I’ll just face the sad truth. I am irrevocably addicted…and undeniably proud of it. I have read every single one.

21: People call me a nerd all the time, so your commment doesn’t really sting. And I take that as a compliment, FYI. (And for further confirmation, I have the largest vocabulary in the 6th grade (do you know what “acrimony” is, without looking in a dictionary?), I spend my lunch in the library, and I’m reading the dictionary! Hee.)

    A favourite quote:

Gregory: “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”
Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”
Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night-time.”
Holmes: “That was the curious incident.”
