Who’s Here?

…a place to say a few words about yourself…

With new faces appearing on the blog almost every day, it’s getting hard to tell everybody apart. So here’s a place to say a few words about yourself, if you like. No full names or identifying details, please: just things like general location (state, or country if foreign and exciting), grade, musical instruments you play, Hogwarts house, etc. Plus a 10,000-word essay on “What Muse Means to Me.” (Just kidding about that last one–though “Muse Mail” does get letters at least that long.)

Again, this thread is strictly voluntary. We’re all for privacy, as you know. If you’d rather stay mysterious, that’s fine, too.

  1. Well… I’m Duncan_Quagmire. I’m not from Canada, but I like moose. My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R. I play the piano badly and I want to learn to play guitar sometime, but it probably won’t happen today. Clowns scare me. One time I saw a bunny being attacked by a bird. It was sad. I’m going into 10th grade. I like the words “malevolent,” “chirality,” “pietrisycamollaviadelrechiotemexity,” and many others. My favorite muppets are Bunsen, Beaker, the Swedish Chef, and Sam Eagle. I can roll my tongue. I hate the “It’s a Small World” song. Ich spreche ein Bisschen Deutsch. The May/June 2003 issue of Muse on prepetual motion devices is the first I’ve ever owned and is one of my favorites. Zero-point-nine-repeating equals one. Home makeover shows on TV bug me. At summer drama camp, I played Alex Trebec in a Jeopardy! skit, Thisbe in a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Charlie Brown in his “lunchtime is about the worst time of the day for me” monologue. Last year I drew a picture of Kokopelli on my algebra II binder. I own two cats. I like to tell stupid jokes. My sister is watching That’s So Raven right now. I don’t like roller coasters. One time, I met Bill Nye the Science Guy.When I was in The Wizard of Oz, I got to go down a trap door, which was fun. I like coconuts. Everything I’ve written may or may not be true. Guess what? I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico…

  2. My name’s Grant O., but you may add such reverent titles as my pseudonym, and adjectives such as “wonderful,” “incredible,” and “scrumtralescent.” Anyone who would like to know more about me can respond to this.

  3. I don’t really have any favorite movies, I would rather read. I like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the new version. I saw the old version ages ago and don’t remember it. I like the book too), The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. As for favorite books… there are too many so I’ll tell you my favorite authors. J. R. R. Tolkien, Mercedes Lackey, Madeliene L’Engle, George R. R. Martin, Sherwood Smith, Garth Nix, Phillip Pullman, Clive Barker (author of Abarat, I think that is his name) and many many more. Music I like to listen to is the LotR soundtracks (all three of them), Evanesence, the Beatles and lately I have been stealing my brothers Franz Ferdinand CD. Activities I do for school are Cross Country running and skiing, track, plays and math team.

That was from the “welcome musers” thread. I have been getting Muse since the January ’99 issue. I play violin but I am still a begining violinist. 0.999999999… does equal 1. D_Q is right. I was Creon’s Page in Antigone and Princess #12 in Once Upon A Mattress. If you would like to know more about me ask me.

  4. I’m Pheebs. I like to read Muse, any books by Douglas Adams, Harry Potter, books by Roddy Doyle, and books by Lois McMaster Bujold. I like plain old chocolate ice cream and lemon/orange sherbert. I like to talk in this blunt, uninteresting tone. I also like to read Duncan_Quagmire’s Fairy Tales and the website Mugglenet.

  8. I am Morbid.

I am one of the older Fanpage People (in a sense that I have been there longer, not that my actual age is greater), who doesn’t show up much on a regular basis. But I’m thinking I will now.

I am she who is having a birthday tomorrow. Worship me.

I suppose there are a number of people, online and off, who have come to view me as some kinda freaky artist-goth, and they wouldn’t be incorrect. For I draw pretty pictures. Well… pretty in a kind of bad horror movie way (shamelessly pimps DevART account).

It is I who hosted, and still does host, the “official” Kokopelli Campaign pages. Yep. They’re still there.

I hold the belief that electric cello is superior to all other instruments of the string variety. That (obviously) includes violins.

    Methinks that’s all for now.

  9. My brother plays electric cello. Actually, it’s a regular cello, but he has a pickup on it. He plays jazz. Free jazz. The squeaky-saxaphones-being-tortured type of jazz. And is currently saying that he needs to learn two songs a week. Great. Actually, I don’t mind his playing that much- he’s pretty good.

And yes, practice is very important. I usually practice from two-three hours a day. Sometimes more. Depends how much other stuff I’ve got going on.

  10. I gave up the violin. I was waaaaaaaaaaaay to lazy to practice. At all. The thing gathered dust in the corner. I’m new here if you haven’t noticed ( ^-^) so feel free to correct me in any way. Meh.

  11. I’m going into 7th grade. My favorite food is agadashi dofu. I can eat with chopsticks. I can’t stand milk chocolate. I once did a school project on Guys and Dolls. I was Velma in a dance to “All That Jazz” from Chicago. I was Superman and Tinkerbell in Rebena Hood. I hit my head on a tree going full swing once. I sunburn easily. My lucky number is 16, but I’m partial to 42. My favorite color is orange. I hate squash. I don’t look good in pastel tones. I go to camp on Sebago Lake.

    Any questions?

P.S. Scrumtalescent? That’s new. I have a friend who insists that Tom Petty is wonderaciously fabulper.

  14. Hi I’m Phoenix. I am not a particularly exciting person, except for the fact that I have about 20 pennames, and every day I write to Muse under a differant one. It was a struggle deciding which one to use for Museblog.
I LOVE THE BELGARIAD (David Eddings), but no one seems to read it. Has anyone? Hello? Hello?
I can speak English and Hebrew and a little German, and I am learning Arabic.

Shalom L’coolam! L’hetraot! Danke Shoin for reading my letter. Ta ta

I like math *Phoenix, who is sitting next to Hermes, gasping* my favorite book is The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle. My mouth is too small, and it is getting expanded, and my dad is not happy about that because then I will talk as much as Phoenix. I don’t know what else to say, except that I don’t like anime, so I will stay out of that section of the blog. Oh, yeah, I have aracnophobia. Also I can spell antidisestablishmentarianism

  20. Phoenix, did you mix up your German with something else? “Danke shoin” is really spelled “danke schon” ( the o has 2 dots over it but I don’t know how to do it on my computer.) It means literally “thank you nicely” but is more like saying just thank you. “Danke” is equivelent to our “thanks’. “Bitte” means “you’re welcome”. “Auf wiedersein” (I’m not quite sure that’s spelled right.) I know THAT much German. When I said I didn’t speak any, I ment I can’t hold a conversation. But I can say hello, goodbye, ect. Just wanted to let you know.

  21. Mirjana,

When you can’t write an umlaut (the two dots) over a letter, German spelling rules allow you to write an “e” right after it. So instead of “scho[umlaut]n” you may write “schoen.”

“Wiedersein” is actually “wiedersehen.” Sehen means “to see.”

  22. The only phrase I can say in German roughly translates into “You are what you eat”. This is only because it is the name of a song by one of my favorite metal bands, Rammstein. All their songs are in very growlly german, and I can’t understand a word.

  29. Hi! I’m WoojaKitty, but I invent new names regularly as my mood changes. I play the violin quite well. I like the song “Layla” by Eric Klapton, or however you spell it/him. I don’t know if this will ever get read, but that’s ok because of you’re-not-supposed-to-give-personal-information-out-to-strangers. Recently I read the LOTR series and I now have hobbits coming out of my ears. I am an incredibly fast reader. I am wary of telling you people anything about myself, so I’m trying to be candid. How’m I doing?

Hello, I am going to make a dramatic entrance in 3… 2…. 1… Bum Da Da Bum Da Da Dum! *imagine me kicking open the door and leaping in from the shadows, just as lightning flashes in the sky* ‘I am here, never fear, I will make you laugh.’ I like HP, Muse (of course), Kokopelli’s my favorite, I like horses, dogs, cats (I like them EQUALLY), I am very energetic, which leads to a lot of problems, and I am a klutz. You’ll never believe it, but I haven’t ever seen the LOTR movies or read the books (!!!!) I have tried, but I just couldn’t get into ’em. People say I don’t socialize enough, but sometimes you can’t shut me up! I’ve always wondered about that, and believe me, it sometimes keeps me up all night, and then I don’t have to worry about getting up in the morning, ’cause I’m already awake! That is NOT to say I don’t read a lot; I DO, but I am more into sci – fi and historical fic.
