Haha, no wonder I couldn’t find it!
I could have sworn there was something like it, though.
Ah, well. Moving on.
For most of my life I’ve kind of thought of being a teacher or author or something. But lately I’ve started realizing that all of the computer stuff I like doing (graphic design, video-making, website design) could actually be a potential career. And that sounds particularly cool.
I mean, I look at some movie trailers and I think that I could do that. It’s really no different then making an AMV or a video podcast: video clips from the movie, background music, and narration. I think it could be really fun.
I want to be something involving art of some kind. Not an actual artist, though. Right now I’m leaning toward architecture, but the idea of it doesn’t make me entirely happy…
Considering that the writing I want to do isn’t something that in general makes a decent amount of money, I’ve been thinking about supplemental careers. I’ve considered web design and related jobs since that’s a market that’s really good for entry level jobs and it’s expanding etc etc but I don’t know if I necessarily want to do that. If Japanese sticks I’m definitely interested in translating or interpreting, leaning more towards the former though.
And then again I could always just give in a be a librarian. So who knows. I ‘m hoping I figure something out before too long.
2) And like I said, that is a good job path to pursue in the coming years. There’s more demand than supply right now, if you can put it that way.
3) Yeah I say definitely think about what it is you enjoy about art and see what fields involve that…Art is everywhere, so that’s a great qualification to have for a job, especially what you seem to be going for.
Personally, I tink that if you work hard at it, being a writer or journalist could make you a good amount of money. Besides, if you love to do it, money shouldn’t be the issue. You can have another good-paying job and write as well.
in order of How much I want to do them:
1. Screenwriter!!! and Director!!! And other Movie Stuff!!!
2. Novel Writer!!!
3. Imagenneer
4. Museum Designer
5. Computer programmer.
6) My concern isn’t that I won’t have loads and loads of cash, it’s that there needs to be a legitimate way to support myself while I’m getting my start with writing. I’m just kind of hoping for something to fall back on, in a sense.
8- Please enlighten me on what the heck an imagineer is!!!!
well, I love stage work, so I’m destined to be a starving stage actress giving theater lessons for a living in the slum of the city. Or a politition. Well, maybe not. I’d probably get assassinated by some religous extremist.
I’m pretty much set on being a pilot. Once I get my driver’s license I’ll start going to lessons for my private license so I’ll have a head start in college.
Right now I teach taekwondo. It’s really fun and rewarding.
To the person who wanted to be a karate teacher: Even school owners have to have second jobs to support themselves, and if you’re working for someone else you probably won’t make enough money.
If you want to make good money maybe be a personal trainer at a gym? It’s similar.
If I can’t be a pilot then I’m just going to drift and do odd jobs to get by. I really don’t like the idea of living in one place all the time and I wouldn’t really mind living in a mobile home and being like a gypsy. If I was a pilot I’d have to stay near the airport though.
This ones a hard one. Maybe a songwriter, singer, guitarist, scientist (I have no idea which kind, it’s so hard to choose), I love animals so anything to work with them except for a vet, maybe a zoologist would be good…
16- Graphics design is awesome. I don’t know how I forgot it. I guess that’s why I like making games- It’s a combination of computer programming and graphic design.
I would like to be either an astrophyscist, a chemist, or a Teacher at MIT.
Robotics engeneering sounds interesting, too.
Practical prosthetic designer would be an interesting job to have. (finger that doubles as pen, for example.)
27 – I tried computer programming (C#) this year during math, and I didn’t like it much. I didn’t really have the patience to correct my code every time it went wrong – which is odd, considering that I will tirelessly draw a single line when I’m trying to get a graphic right. Or it could have just been that I was working with my mom, which irritated me to no end.
29- You want to be a astrophysicist? Awesome! I considered that, but now I’m leaning towards meteorology/ climatology.
My dream job would be following something like Alfred Wegener’s career path. For those who don’t know, Mr.Wegener was possibly one of the most amazing people who ever walked this earth! He was an astronomer by training, yet he was also a meteorologist, and then he even dappled in geology. I was wondering how I could ever chose between the three fields, and then my science teacher showed us that life changing film. Low and behold, a meteorologist who gave birth to plate tectonics. Further investigation revealed the astronomy bit. My dream is possible! Perhaps I could add a dash of writing to the mix…
I want to fly a plane now! Haha I can’t wait to get my driver’s license so I can go to lessons. Wooooo!
Ooh on the 27th I’m getting certified as a taekwondo instructor and I’m going to be paid to teach. Yay!!!
Hmm, I’d like to play music for a living…..maybe do some stuff with playing historical music in costume (how did you know that was coming?!0 I can imagine working for Colonial Williamsburg for at least a little bit, but I’m not sure how long I’d want to live in VA, I love it there, but it gets so HOT. Besides, at CW you have to be on top of people all the time, and I would probably resort to homicide.
I’d also like to sail (of course) and hopefully whatever I do I’ll be able to do that on the side, I’m not sure that I would want that for a full-time job. Besides, I doubt that I would make a very good living at that.
If I can get somehow involved in any type of acting, I’d love to try it out…and I’ve often dreamed of doing acting on the side, or just for the fun of it.
So if I can somehow combine history, music, ships, possibly acting, and make a living at it, I’m all set. But then comes the question of whether I’ll get married and have kids…..that would drastically change what I’d look for in a job. Not sure on that one, so far I’ve not met anyone that I’d really want to marry….and I’m not sure what kind of a mother I’d be………… *is suddenly very confused by looking so far ahead* I don’t know, I guess I’ll find out when I get there.
38~ Something like that. Fortunately, I love maritime music, so that’s good, I like old ships, so that’s good, and it all mostly works out……now I just need to find a way to do it!
I want to be either a musician, or, if that fails, a programmer.
I think music is what I want to do with my life. I love to perform, I love to practice, I love to play with other people, and this summer has helped me realize how to communicate through music. I’m just so scared that I won’t be good enough, that I won’t get into college, that i won’t get a job. Getting in places is really competitive – the two toughest higher-education schools to get into in the US are both conservatories, and a lot of the best teachers seem to only accept one or two students a year. I just don’t know if I’m good enough, and I don’t always audition well. And there’s so much music you have to get ready for auditions…
I love programming, and messing with computers, and would be happy either doing it as a hobby or possibly as a career. Probably a hobby.
On a slightly tangential note, does anyone here type dvorak?
I am thinking of becoming a set builder…. I love the atmosphere of theater but don’t think I have what it takes to make it on stage, and I like working with my hands.
41~ Slightly off topic, but have you ever been to Interlochen, in MI? Just wondering. Oh, and yes, you are good enough!! That recording you sent in was amazing….I wish I was that good……
34- I have the red belt in taekwondo. I quit though. the boys were scared of me. And I was the only girl. ’twas sad. It must be nice to be a teacher. How old are the kids you teach?
44~ No, my mom went (she played French Horn) and I’ve grown up hearing about it, and there’s a possibility that I may go next year. the only thing is that it’s so focused on classical music, and that’s not my strong point at all.
I was just wondering because Lizzie plays that sort of music, and does it so well.
I’m majoring in Physics and Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Aerospace Engineering. Might pick up Mathematics, too. I move in, in less than a month. Not exactly sure what I want to do with those, aside from conquer the world and all that jazz.
Okay, in all seriousness, I’m going to ‘waste’ years of my life getting Ph.D.s in those fields, and then it’ll be years of R&D until I end up a senile, androgynous-looking professor with big white hair. And an awesome lab coat. Because the world needs more mad scientists.
Still not sure what particular field of physics I’ll go into. I mean, on one hand there’s particle/high energy/quantum physics. Higgs boson et al.l Brilliance. And on the other hand, there’s astrophysics, because nothing is cooler than the light from a supernova that occurred 168,000 years ago. And black holes. Alternatively, I could do both.
Basically, I’m doing Mech/Aero Engineering for the fun of it. Because who doesn’t like building things?
No, I haven’t been to Interlochen. I know a lot of people who have, though. I think Interlochen is bigger in the band world – for string players, it seems like most of the more serious ones prefer to go to more solo / chamber oriented camps. 13 – Awesome! Mine is too. She thinks I should get a library science degree if I go to graduate school, which would probably be a good idea – somebody always needs a librarian somewhere, right?
22 – Ah, you’d always be close to the ocean. That sounds nice.
30 – My dad is a computer programmer, but it doesn’t interest me. Maybe as a side skill, but I wouldn’t enjoy it for a living. Plus it’s hard to find programming jobs for the old systems my dad works with because most companies just use desktop computers now.
53 – Yes! We do need more mad scientists. I would be one, but I’m awful at math and science. Great with words, but numbers just make my brain want to explode.
59 – Nope, I’ve only done volunteer work. I was going to work for the library, but they’re only allowed to hire new people at certain times, and this summer wasn’t one of them. I didn’t bother to look for another job because this is a smallish city, so there aren’t that many teen jobs around.
What do folklorists do, exactly? I love mythology, legends, folktales, etc., so I thought about studying folklore, but I probably wouldn’t be able to support myself on that. I’m probably going to end up an editor, technical writer, or librarian and then hopefully I can write novels in my spare time. Or film scripts – I think it’d be fun to write intentionally awful scripts for B-movie companies *coughSciFichannelcough*. I don’t even know what I’m majoring in yet, though! Maybe English major/film studies or journalism minor with some foreign language classes thrown in for good measure.
I’m only 12 3/4, but this is what I foresee.

Muse writer would be cool too, but I’m not as into writing.
Pixar would be awesome, but I’d still rather write for Muse. Speaking of which, I think I might’ve asked before, but does Muse ever take interns? If so, I would love to apply! Even if it’s an unpaid position! Interning at Muse would be the froodiest gap year job ever.
I want to be a writer!(first post?)
Haha, no wonder I couldn’t find it!

1. Actress/Director (for movies)
2. Costume/makeup designer (for movies or plays)
3. Architectural designer
4. Interior designer
5. Pilot
6. Dolphin trainer
Etc, etc, etc. Film is definitely my top choice, but I like so much other stuff…
6) My concern isn’t that I won’t have loads and loads of cash, it’s that there needs to be a legitimate way to support myself while I’m getting my start with writing. I’m just kind of hoping for something to fall back on, in a sense.
1. Computer Programmer (and similar)
2. Aerospace Engineer
3. Government Work
4. Musician
5. Music Producer
I’ve always wanted to work at Area 51 (But then again, who hasn’t?) but recently I’ve become interested in programming.
I’d like to be an editor.
Or like someone else said, be a librarian. My mother is a librarian.
I want to be an actress, a writer, a scientist, a historian, a sailor…
2- Graphics designing would be cool. *dittoes Meow*
4- Well, mostly the designing part of it, I think. It also involves math, which I am fairly good at. That’s pretty much it.
I took a career test, and the top 25 jobs for me were pretty much all different types of designers. Fashion, graphics, interior, artist.
maybe…a graphic designer? a musician is the one I’m most leaning towards right now,
possibly about the same for painter.what? GAPAs, save me for my mistake with the HTML! HTML gnome, I need your help!
10 – Dolphin trainer would be really cool. I think it would be fun to just try it for a day or two, even if it wasn’t a permanent career.
8- Please enlighten me on what the heck an imagineer is!!!!
well, I love stage work, so I’m destined to be a starving stage actress giving theater lessons for a living in the slum of the city. Or a politition. Well, maybe not. I’d probably get assassinated by some religous extremist.
19- Some one who Creates Attractions for disney Parks!
20 – One of the judges at eCyberMission supposedly designs rockets for Disney World.
Dream job: Lighthouse oporater/writer, then durring the nice parts of the day I would study tide pools along the coast of the lighthouse.
*sighs mournfully*
21-Disney World has rockets?
I’m pretty much set on being a pilot. Once I get my driver’s license I’ll start going to lessons for my private license so I’ll have a head start in college.

-23 to defend against HPBs. The bunnies were soooo mad they didn’t get to take over the blog this year.
on april fools, I mean.
24- And it wasn’t hard for Disney to get rockets, either. The Cape’s only about sixty miles away from Disney World.
I would like to be either an astrophyscist, a chemist, or a Teacher at MIT.
Robotics engeneering sounds interesting, too.
Practical prosthetic designer would be an interesting job to have. (finger that doubles as pen, for example.)
23 – I dunno. That’s what they said.
27 – I tried computer programming (C#) this year during math, and I didn’t like it much. YES!! I finally managed to get my hands on a nice electric guitar…!!!

31-That sounds great!

38~ Something like that.
Fortunately, I love maritime music, so that’s good, I like old ships, so that’s good, and it all mostly works out……now I just need to find a way to do it!
33- What kind? I have a pretty nice one my aunt got me…
I want to be either a musician, or, if that fails, a programmer.

One of my friends is going to Interlochen this summer.
I want to be in computers/chemistry/writing. I don’t know.
What colleges do computers and chemistry well? Everyone in my day camp group was talking about colleges and I don’t know where I want to go.
Parmandiriel (an older muser) went to Interlochen summer of ’06.
Shadow Gallery is at Interlochen right now, actually.
I was going to go to Interlochen a few years ago, but I decided not to go.
I’m interested in editing and history, though I still have no idea what I want to do. Something involving editing, though.
I want to go next year.
interlochen?
I’m majoring in Physics and Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Aerospace Engineering. Might pick up Mathematics, too. I move in, in less than a month. Not exactly sure what I want to do with those, aside from conquer the world and all that jazz.
Okay, in all seriousness, I’m going to ‘waste’ years of my life getting Ph.D.s in those fields, and then it’ll be years of R&D until I end up a senile, androgynous-looking professor with big white hair. And an awesome lab coat. Because the world needs more mad scientists.

53- 8 0 Man… your smart…
I don’t NEED or TRY to be an actress…
I am.
At the verrryyy least, I idolize Laura Bell Bundy.
And worship Legally Blonde: The Musical.
I Irish Dance, sing, do voiceovers…
No, I haven’t been to Interlochen. I know a lot of people who have, though. I think Interlochen is bigger in the band world – for string players, it seems like most of the more serious ones prefer to go to more solo / chamber oriented camps. I’ve heard the food is terrible, also, although that seems to be the case everywhere.
I want to be a big-animal vet when I grow up. You know, like lions and tigers and other stuff like that. maybe I could work at a wildlife reserve, that would be fun.
-36 Jag-Stang. Originally invented for Kurt Gobain, (Nirvana) it’s a Jaguar body and Mustang neck/lower body style. Red/orange color, and a whole lot of fun!
so do any of you have summer jobs? cuz i’m trying to find out some good ideas for next summer. a little late this year…..
anyway i am going to be an electrical engineer. im into a robotics club, took an electronics class. so i know what i’m gonna do!
CHEMIST. SCIENTIST. DOCTOR. SOMETHING.
I currently have a babysitting job with my little sister.
No, I don’t have a summer job, but here is a list of places I’m considering applying at for next year.
the golf course (it is their busy season after all)
a restraunt (bleh. I’d be terrible)
flipping burgers (double bleh)
Okay, I know that at one time I had a longer list. This wasn’t very helpful at all, was it? *sigh* What I’d really like to do is tutor kids in anything. math, science, violin lessons, whatever. But I don’t think I know enough to tutor kids and get paid for it.
48: MIT, you probably/definately could get in.
13 – Awesome! Mine is too. She thinks I should get a library science degree if I go to graduate school, which would probably be a good idea – somebody always needs a librarian somewhere, right?
22 – Ah, you’d always be close to the ocean. That sounds nice.

64- Go stage managers!
65-They are really essential, and there is more of a demand! SMs pwn!
Has anyone mentioned Muse writer yet? Oh, wait, this is a dead thread. Oh, well.
67- Dead? *uses mystical voodoo powers*
I’d like to work at Pixar someday. I’d like to do something that would let me express my creativty.
68- *gasp* Working at Pixar would be amazing. Provided that by the time I’m old enough to work there, they haven’t gone bad like Disney. But I doubt it.

I WANNA WORK AT MUSE!
…Providing, of course, I’m not a famous voiceover artist/actress/singer by that time. *is busy*
And my summer job is working for my parents. You MAY laugh, but they pay me. And it’s their own business, by the way…
I really want to be a video game developer for some company, but I’ll have to seriously develop my art skills, imagination, and AI design skills.
