Pie in D.C., Saturday, August 16?

Rosanne is going to be in the Washington (D.C.) area soon, and she and Robert are thinking of getting together for some pie on the 16th. Unlike last August, this time they’d like to eat the pie. Would anyone else (and ens parents) like to come along?

They might have a picnic in a park, or might go to one of the area’s pie-renowned restaurants. The plans will depend partly on which option is better for any local MBers who might show up. Any thoughts?

My family (except Mom, who would be a lab rat again) was planning on biking the Pittsburgh-DC trail that week! We had it roughly planned out — we would carry tents and food on trailers and backpacks, and it would take us about five days, arriving Friday/Saturday. However, that plan never really took flight because my Dad might have to go out of town for a few days that week.

    Oh, well.

Hmmmmm… August is such a busy month for me, I just can’t make it. My mom’s birthday is the 15th, along with my little brother’s birthday party (going to see Attack of the Clones with 6 hyperactive seven year olds…. *groan*… and the Lord forbid I don’t help out). Then we’re going to Freedom, NH to stay at my grandparents’ lake house on the 17th for a week. When I get back it’s my sister’s (she’s really my cousin, but she lived with us from the ages 13-18, so she’s really more of a sister) 20th birthday. Ungh…. I wish I could be there, though!!!!!

    Hi everybody-

As nice an invitation as that is, MF, I think it would be kind to let the GAPAs be where they most comfortably and easily can be. Because Rosanne isn’t here every day, and because Robert and Rosanne had planned to get together anyway and decided to invite us, I feel we should let them say where they’d like to be.

We can probably make it into DC that day, and I think it’s mostly decided that we will be there whenever the time is set.

And, Mom probably would bring a pie if you asked her (despite my moanings that it isn’t practical. I usually lose in conflicts like this).

HAWK~ Yes, I completely agree. It was a suggestion, and optional.
We understand now that it will be hard for Rosanne, so that it is not, in fact, an option.
The whole purpose of the invitation was because there is no plan as of yet. It was an idea tossed out for consideration, it was considered and thought better of, due to the circumstances. The invitation remains open for other times, but not this one.

The rest of us are now at the National Geographic Museum, seeing an exhibition about the admiral Zheng He, who led a Chinese fleet in voyages to India and Africa in the early 15th Century. 73 and 74~ Yes, I suppose it does.
But really though, the models (beautiful as they were) made no sense to me at all.
It was crazy, there appeared to be no support from athwartships, or fore and aft. I really do wonder how they stay up with all the pressure of the wind on the sails.
Which brings me o the next question, you couldn’t “dip” them, or change the side of the mast that they are on. So, if you tack (change direction) the wind is suddenly hitting the sail from the wrong side. Weird. And the sails are definitely directional, because they went a bit forward of the mast, opposed to modern sailboats (sunfishes excepted) which have the sail connected to the mast and boom. (Of course the larger sails are different, they have gaff booms, and all sorts of other weirdness, some of which I was attempting to make sense of yesterday.)

Oh dear, I’ve done it again.
I’ll resort to plain English now.

Those books are funny. I think I agree with Fiddler about the Boys book.

I think Fiddler looks so short because she’s kind of slumped over a bit… although R-tH is still definitely taller.

Gah, this is just making me miss you guys… and wish I could have gone for pie.

88~ Yes, I was leaned back against the shelf behind me (which actually collapsed at one point, it was a clumsy day for me. )

Hey, the guy in the far right of the bottom picture in the straw hat is my dad. I thinks HAWK’s dad’s shoulder is in that one, too. But you can’t really see what he looks like.

Thanks for posting, oh mighty GAPAs!!!

Midnight Fiddler and Red-tailed HAWK seen in bar together!

Just kidding! And do note the glass of water on the table- that’s all we had, water, honest!

    91-Clumsy? Nah, I’m the clumsy one :D

    92- :D Out of curiosity, what’s different?

I like the picture of Robert. Actually, I like the picture of me, too. You know, I really like the group picture. Nah, I like ’em all! :D

We didn’t get an individual picture of MF! Phooey! We didn’t get Rosanne, either!

I tell you, they’re all lovely! I love both of my Kokopellihedron shirts!

For those who don’t know the story here, I asked if Lady B. would put the Kokopellihedron on a shirt because I liked the design so much. Then I couldn’t decide what color to get, so I got one blue and one black! :D

You know, Robert looks a wee bit different in many of the pictures I’ve seen of him. He’s definitely recognizable in all of them, but there is a strange sense of… something different in a bunch of them, especially in that first picture here. Hmm. Maybe it’s just facial expressions?

So how many kokonventions have HAWK and Fiddler been to so far? *slightly amused*

93~ Scandalous! good heaven’s, two Musers seen together in a bar, with suspicious looking Kokonvention activity as well, I’ll bet!

I was too clumsy that day! I knocked over my water (yes, WATER!) glass, dropped something on the floor (I can’t remember what), and collapsed the bookshelf. I probably tripped several times that day too, people always say I move too fast.

94~ I’m wearing my lovely H&H shirt today, as a matter of fact! I love it. *is happy to be wearing favorite shirt*

    100) YodaSchmoda lives in CT, but her mother banned her from kokonventions in the near future. I won’t be in america for the forseeable future, but if anybody is visiting Vienna, let me know.

    101) Don’t worry. I’ve managed to flip a waffle onto my shirt once (not at a kokonvention, but still a disaster)
