Overall, it was an alright issue. I haven’t read all of it yet, but what I have read was good. I dislike the lack of overall theme, though. It would’ve been good if they could’ve had more on memory. Anyway, I’ll finish reading it and post a full review when I have time.

Great issue! I was slightly allarmed at the ‘red blob logo’, but, as this seemed like a relapse of the Bunny Wars (Actually, I found them quite amusing, but the blob isn’t as cute.) Yes, I have known of the editor’s middle names, but not of town hall.?

It really does look like a slightly morphed HPB, doesn’t it?

I actually did like this issue quite a bit. There were a lot of interesting articles about interesting concepts.

And, I’d say the theme was pretty much memory, because there were two articles on that. It would have been nice if the mammoth/temple articles had maybe built off that concept a little, but overall I still liked it.

5: That’s interesting, because I think all the main articles (and the Last Page) fit into the theme.

Overall, I liked the issue. Especially the Koko and Company… *”flurban floutfitters”…snickers like a twit* My favorite article was “How to Win the World Memory Championship”. The memory games at the top were a fun addition to an otherwise interesting article. The caricatures were also particularly good, I liked the first Sarah Palin and the Anna Howard Shaw. Good work this month.

Time for another over-analyzing session! *is excited about this*

Cover: One of my favorite covers. So aesthetically… wonderful? I don’t know. But I really like the colors!

Dear Muse Reader: Okay. I’ve seen better, but it was pretty good! I liked the last two best- “‘Why? Why me here?'”

Muse Contents: I never know \\what to say about the contents when doing these reviews, because… they’re contents. What can I say? :| I have known about the “middle names” on the editorial staff though, hehe.

Bo’s Facts: Ooh, I liked the one about prehistoric turtle. The false fact was pretty easy to guess, though that might be because I’d heard about miracle fruits from other sources too.

Muse Mail (both pages): Red blobs? Meh. As long as a billion readers DO NOT send in letters whining about them, I’m fine with it. But seriously.

Zambian reader(s)? Wow, I wonder where she heard about Muse from. I’d also like to see the official Places Muse has been map again, and/or updated… what issue was that in? A while ago, I think
On the second page… wow, that’s a loong letter. I liked the other one though, where the girl took the picture of their family’s week supply of food. It’s always interesting when people make connections to the articles like that.

Koko & Co.: Oh, Mimi. Oh, Koko.

How to Win the World Memory Championship: Pretty interesting, especially all the peoples’ methods for memorization! Destiny’s Child whacking Franz Schubert, though… XD I liked the note about synesthesia… I failed the penny test, but passed the name game.Poor Bo.
Muserology: Oh, this was a really good one! Tenzin and Tsering are adorable, and the overall article was touching, and interesting. Yup, all in one.

Gobekli Tepe: Fairly fascinating, especially the fact that our whole idea of early civilization could be completely inaccurate.

Second Change Zoo: I liked the article, especially the

Rebecca is now doing the Q&A section with Robert! That was a surprise, last time it was just Robert, and I had been wondering if Rosanne was going to come back. (I love the answer you gave, Rebecca, by the way!)
Is this permanent or temporary? I know the Q&A column has been changing a god bit lately.

6- How does the Last Page refer to memory?
10- So does Rosanne work for Muse anymore?

Random comments relating the the issue (or Muse in recent times):
-I don’t like the article teasers on the cover–they seem to conversational, and not… title-ish enough. That’s just my personal opinion anyway.
-Contents and Bo’s Page are fine. I like less well-known quotes in the Editorial Staff column, though. I’ve heard most of the last ones before.
-*groans* Another symbol (i.e. in the mail pages)? Well, this one should die out quickly.
-Kokopelli & Company: Flamablamablous, as always. You pwn, Larry Gonick.
-Margin Muses: Hm. Urania looks different. Feather does as well, though not nearly as much. Especially see p. 31.
-Second Chance Zoo: Didn’t quite like the layout of this one. Too similar to that of Odyssey.
-Don’t like the memory teasers / answers in other articles thing. Again, too like Odyssey. I’m not saying that magazine is bad; I just don’t like their layout.
-Q&A: RoCoo and Rebecca. Marvelous, but, again, what happened to Rosanne? And is Muse still keeping in contact with Paul? I realise that he’s extraordinarily busy for that last… year, but, if it’s possible, just let him know that we all miss him greatly.
-Muse Mail: I love the responses to Mihika’s letter. The sheer irony is something, I believe, some young readers won’t get. I wouldn’t have gotten it four years ago or so.
-Contest: Just never enjoyed the Contests page, so I’ll skip it. Lot of anti-Republican art. *fumes slightly*
-Last Page: That’s awesome. Me gusta. (I like it.)

And there it is. Piggy’s rambling thoughts and opinions on this issue.

  12. Piggy: Rosanne and I have never been Muse employees. We wrote the Q&A column as freelance writers under contract. The last time Rosanne’s contract was up for renewal, in 2007, she decided that she needed more “down time” from her real job (editor of Stanford Medicine magazine) and had to give up the column. I took some time off, too, and asked my friends Ruth and Andy to fill in for me for a year. Now I’m back, without Rosanne but with Rebecca.

Lost Ocelots Try Radishes!! I actually did scream, kind of quietly, when I read that… My family thinks I’m really, really weird.

Although the issue was the subject of a terrible trick— our dad put it on our bed so we didn’t see until after we had moaned, wailed cried, reasoned, calculated, worried, and threatened to commit suicide . . . we loved it of course – memory, Tibet, and especially Gobekii Tepe — the idea that temple building came before high culture seems right to us

So far I’ve only read the first article (yeah yeah, I know. You can beat me to a pulp or something for only just getting around to starting this issue). I’m going to say that it was quite interesting, because I’m tired and can’t think of anything more glamorous to say. I was just wondering though, how did other Musers do on the memory test thingies? I’m so irritated that I forgot 3 of the 20 objects! Grrr….
