Progress reports, anybody?

Yay, thank you GAPAs!
I have currently completed one page of script but I’m shooting for 15 before the weekend starts. I’m really hoping to make it this time.
I’m writing a screenplay, and since I didn’t have time to really lay out a good-quality plot of my own invention, I’m using the plot (and the everything else) of The Wind Boy. It’s really fun, actually, and I just read it and it’s going to be very interesting to adapt.
What about you all?
My sister and I are doing an original script called Wingless, set in a world where everyone can fly, all about three who can’t. Fly, that is. We have six (Well, really five, but our newest scene is on a new page as well) pages so far, and I am very happy. I didn’t think it’d go this fast, and we have a week of free time before we have more school. Anyway, I’ll stop, since I get the feeling I’m bragging. The trouble with these threads is, it’s hard to tell how you’re doing, if you’re doing okay, without sounding like you’re bragging. Oh, one thing, I was on the Script Frenzy forums, and I saw a person with thirty-eight pages of script done. In two days! I’m impressed.
Thankee muchly
Mine is going to be running into problems, for two reasons. One is that it’s a TV series, a crime drama. And I know nothing about how the police system works. So that’s a stumbling block. But the killer they’retrying to catch is really cool. In a creepy, i keel u, sort of way. Everytime he kills someone, he does it based on songs, and then leaves clues. The first girl he kills is named Sunny, and he paints her yellow room black, as well as blowing the fuses in her house, so there’s no light in her house. Based on the song, “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”. The next one is going to be based on the song “Love and Memories” by O.A.R. I’m very excited
Not doing one, no time. Stupid April date change.
28 pages thus far.
It’s actually got decent plot development this time ’round, too. Although at the moment my protagonist is being eaten by the giant amoeba who controls the U.S. government, which poses problems for the *future* protagonist who frequently argues with his computer.
Not doing it.
2 – Don’t worry about what you sound like. I’m glad to hear you guys are doing well, and I think your setting (not to mention plot pitch) is really interesting. Keep us updated on your plot and everything else!
4 – When was Script Frenzy ever in any other month?
Finished 2.2 pages, shooting for 20 by the end of Saturday.
Thanks, GAPAs!
7- In 2007 it was in June.
9- I really liked it better in June. I have school now, which cuts into my writing time.
That’s true. Doing something like this is already hard without having school on top of that. I mean, I barely have any time to come on here, much less write a script. Which is why I’m not gonna do it. I still haven’t finished my novel of which I’ve been working on for…… *puff of air* gosh, I don’t know how long.
I’m writing one about the typical teenage angst of high school, aptly named ‘The Tank’ (reference to something like a shark tank). The thing I like about it most is each individual personality, both corrupted and misunderstood, that mesh together so tightly. I can post my character list here, since it’s my first part, I suppose…
–JANE ROBBINS, a female student, second year high-school and around the age of sixteen. She has long hair and wears a solemn expression throughout the majority of the play, and is very dreamy in the way she speaks and acts. She is dressed in slacks, a button down shirt, and wears a flower in her hair, which hangs around her face in waves. The flower should change every day. She is the principal role and also serves as the narrator for the work.
–TONY DANFORTH, a strapping young male who is also a third-year in high school. Around seventeen years of age. He is captain of the football team. Very handsome, and expected to be popular; and yet he secretly attends the poetry club with Jane every Thursday. Wears a school blazer and jeans for the entire play. He is the principal male.
–LISA CYNAMARA, a female second-year who is fifteen and the closest friend to Jane. She is very quiet, keeping mostly to herself, which makes her exceedingly unpopular among the schoolgirls and especially with Chloe. Jane suspects this is because of her restricted home environment.
–CYNTHIA ROBBINS, a pretty third-year girl, seventeen. She is Jane’s older sister, and is commonly referred to as “Cyndieâ€. She has a very sarcastic and laid-back attitude, and attracts the attention of multiple boys, making her a role model for Jane as well as a guide to the mysterious ways of love. Jonathan is her boyfriend of three months.
–CHLOE STEVENSON, the most popular girl at Lillian Winchell High. She is a second-year, sixteen years of age, tall, blond and very pretty as well as wealthy. Is the leader of the “Strutsâ€, and makes her presence known throughout the school as a great gossiper and stealer of boyfriends. Was formerly the girlfriend of Tony.
–“THE STRUTSâ€, a group of second and third year high school girls who are all largely involved in school scandals and gossip, and who all follow the directions of Chloe. There are three of them aside from Chloe:
–Leslie, a third-year brunette whose trademark is a large brown Coach purse in which she keeps every makeup tool and secret note possible. She is the timekeeper for the group, recording every event of their lives that they deem to be “put in the fame recordâ€. These papers are stored in a book which never leaves Leslie’s purse.
–Eva, a second-year girl with a short physique and a mean attitude. She is involved in every school sport and therefore is friends with half of the school population. She is the mastermind for many of the group’s schemes.
–Isabel, a third-year who is tall and has long curly hair. She is admittedly the kindest of the group; although she objects to nothing that the group does for fear that she will become a social outcast. There are moments when her true attitude about life shines through, but these are rare and fleeting. She constantly makes refrains about her wishes to become a psychiatrist, which are completely ignored by the rest of the Struts, but which Jane listens to with appreciation.
–JONATHAN WRIGHT, a senior in high school who has long black hair down to his shoulders and wears tight jeans every day. His personality is sharp, rough, and unlettered. He is constantly letting off strings of unkind words towards Cyndie, who nevertheless sticks with him and defends every one of his actions. He is constantly at Jane’s house.
Other Non-Principal Characters:
–Mr.Robbins, the father of Cyndie and Jane. Mr. Robbins works twelve hours and is rarely seen by his family except lurking around the house at night, as Cyndie reiterates, “like a ghost on my heelsâ€.
– Mrs. Robbins, the mother of Cyndie and Jane. Mrs. Robbins is a homemaker and consistently bothers her daughters to do household chores, which somehow never get done.
–Shane Dewitt, the head of newspaper group. He constantly hangs around Chloe, and the rumors go strong about what they smoke together behind the school dumpster.
–Lindie Mason, a young girl; the daughter of her mother’s friend who lives near to Jane and is constantly seen playing with her new puppy. She will frequently come up in Jane’s conversations as ‘the kid from over the hill”. ((Symbol of innocence?))
– Principal Right, headmaster of Winchell. Is wrong about nearly everything.
–Mr. Baker, the first hour British Literature teacher.
–Various other students and teachers
——————————————————————–
I know it sounds like your typical whiny teenage drama, but I really want to make it more than that, something deeper, something to make a statement. I have some dialogue, too, though it’s still developing. Four pages so far. What do you think?
Eva and Isabel? Have you ever heard of the Abby Hayes series? *Former AH fan, before it got too long and repetitive*
My school mascot is the shark, and we call the gym “the shark tank”. Freaky!
What’s Script Frenzy?
13- Ditto… I’m confused…
12, 13- Check out scriptfrenzy.org. It’ll tell you everything that you need to know.
3- That actually does sound very interesting. But creepy.
I might try one. Can someone POST how to do proper formatting? I can’t go to websites w/ out my parents’ permission.
SFTDP
everthing after POST should be normal
Enceladus – I know that this is just leading you to another site that you won’t be able to go to, but check out Drew’s Script-O-Rama for better examples of screenplay formatting–you can find real movie scripts and screenplays there for free.
I’d be glad to tell you what you need to know, but what are you writing, screenplay, stage play, TV show, or comic book?
I think I may give up… I’m too far behind to catch up. Also, this dratted illness doesn’t help.
20- Me too, because I’m four days behind, but considering that I do have the entire break I’m not so sure yet…Feel better!
19- Probably a stage play/musical. I love writing musical style music. Who knows? Mabye I’ll do a MUSE-ical. About Mostly Harmless, or something. Then, people won’t suspect a thing, and we can carry out our plans! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, sorry, got sorta hyper there hehe.
I think that I might turn mine into a musical as well. It seems to be following along that path…something like HSM, only more cynical and more with the feeling of reality.
Can we post ideas for others to use? I’ve been really busy, with catching up on schoolwork AND my mitzvah project AND Passover, but want to participate somehow.
Ideas :
Spy under cover as a high school student
Um . . .
Murder mystery where game show host doubles as detective, contestants are victims/murderers
That one was bad.
Err. . . more ideas later.
24- Those are good. I would do one, but I’ve already started my own. You should try one, it’s very fun!
This is a song that is in development for my main character (see post 12) Jane. She is singing, in tormented confusion, about her relationship with Tony that she doesn’t understand, but knows that somehow it makes sense. This is after he steals a kiss from her during poetry club. Enjoy, I hope you like it!
I Know He’s There-Jane
(fast paced, anxious and with a hint of distress)
How could it be, how could it be?
How could it be that he was there for me?
All along, and I didn’t see…
I didn’t know, I didn’t know
I didn’t know I’d spend my life like this,
Trapped alone,
Alone inside one kiss
My life, like this?
Oh, I didn’t know
What is this, (spoken) this curse?
This is the worst I’ve ever been,
And now I’ve seen,
Oh yes, I’ve…seen…
(softly, with tenderness)
Everywhere, everyone
Holding me down,
I felt my world crashing around…me
Then poetry, poetry,
All for my heart, I start believing his words
As though something else had heard…us
No not again! Oh, not again,
I cannot face the light that shines so bright,
Oh no, I cannot face the light…
But oh, how I know he’s there for me!
And oh, how I know he tries,
How does this look to another,
This love, through another’s eyes?
Why do I mind?
Why do I even mind what they think of me?
Why do I care for him, why do I care
The lips, the hair, all there
For me? I do not see, no,
I don’t see why, but
I know he’s there
How could it be, how could it be,
How could it
Be?
24- I think I’ll do that last one!
25- nice song!!
What is Script Frenzy?!
27- Check out the URL at post 15, it’ll take you to the main page.
12/25: Ooh, I like! It sounds like Grease, but less flat. (Let`s face it, we only love Grease for the amazing songs.) I`d see it.
Wow, that’s a really good song. We have fifteen pages done now, but we’ve really slacked off on working, so I need to get working again… Anyway, I’m rambling again.
Thanks all!
Technically the script is only six pages, but with songs it’s much longer. I need to work! *works*
You know it would be awesome to have a thread where we just come up with ideas for other people (if we don’t have time, or get insporation if we’re stuck).
P*EASE GAPAs?!?!?!?
It would be an awsome thread. I know that I get random ideas in my head all the time, and being able to tell everyone about them means they at least get a chance. Plus, if anyone is stuck on a topic for their story, they can read up for inspiration.
I like that idea.
Since Script Frenzy won’t happen again until April 2010, what if we made a thread for assorted plot ideas? Would that be all right?
As long as people could also use them for other stuff (short stories, novels, poems, etc.)
YAY!!!!
(Sorry, it’s just I’ve never had a good enough idea for a thread before!)
Understood. As good a reason as any to celebrate.
