I suppose I’ve only become a prolific poster within the last month, and I’ve sort of changed names a couple times……
First I was “Michelle W.”, then “Luna the Lovely (formerly Michelle W.), then once I figured people got hte idea, I was “Luna the Lovely”, for awhile I had Potter points, and for a very short while I had symbols……..

The numbers, unless otherwise noted, represent ONLY the comments posted under that EXACT name. Even if someone misspelled a screen name, it will show up as a separate entity. None of the numbers we’ve given have included Alter Egos or radically different names, though in most cases that shouldn’t change the overall commenting pattern to a significant degree.
Out of curiosity, I checked your name. The name “Jakob Wonkychair” has posted 168 times. The total based on email search (two addresses) came to 179.

Predictably, we GAPAs are getting tired of answering (or ignoring) requests for statistics. Therefore we have posted all the blog stats on a page called Who’s Posted How Much, which you can reach via a pulldown menu under the tab for the “Who’s Here” page. (Or you can just click on the link in the previous sentence.) Be patient; it’s calculated anew every time you open it, so it can take a while to load.

Yay! #56! It’s scary how close I was…. I guessed I was #58. I have a knack for being scarily close when guessing random numbers (no, really). But according to my calculations, I should actually be #32 or #33. Even better!
2,659 bloggers!? I know some of them are doubles, but that’s still an inordinately huge number.
Not so many, really. Remember this list recorded every permutation separately, even if someone used lowercase or changed their point count. This means numerous entries for quite a few bloggers. The only reason it isn’t longer is that it doesn’t count names with fewer than 5 comments. For comparison, Who’s Here lists 633 MBers (not including adults). Some percentage of those never posted enough to make it to the statistics list. Even so, it doesn’t take long for 600 to multiply into thousands.
If you combine the number of posts with your starting date from Who’s Here, you can come up with your average number of posts per day. (Spreadsheets can easily tell you the number of days between any two dates.) That’s a fairly fair measure of blog participation, I think, because it doesn’t favor people who have been here longer.*
(*I say “fairly fair” because it favors people who haven’t been here long enough to have had vacations or other fallow periods yet.)
It also favors people who incessantly submit very small, short posts instead of longer, more thoughtful ones, and I think that counts for something as well.
There’s nothing to be done about that, I’m afraid.

I added up most of my names, including all the ones with pronounciations and the one I used for the Halloween ball and got 647. I just remembered that I added a wung to my name for a while, so adding about 7 more posts to that gives 654. Adding my around 4 PUMPED FOR STATE!!!! posts and my 1 (I think) alter ego post gives 659 as a rough estimate for me. Of course, Rebecca’s email count of 712 is probably way more accurate. I can’t imagine where those extra 50 posts could have come from, though…

Every time you added a symbol or character, or even changed the capitalization, it would have registered as a new name, and begun a separate count for that name.
