Robert & Rosanne Unmasked! (Version 1.2)

My Q&A co-columnist Rosanne Spector and I live on opposite coasts, so it’s always a treat to see each other in person. This week she was in town visiting her parents and stopped by my office, and we went to dinner. I tried to commemorate the occasion by taking a snapshot with my new cell phone, but I hit the wrong button and wound up making this short video clip instead. (Here’s another version that has better picture quality but that doesn’t work in as many browsers.)

Don’t we look utterly clueless?

(The glimpse of my computer keyboard happened when we turned the phone around to see what was going on.)

I guess Rosanne and I are just doomed to remain mysterious.

Does your computer have a Quicktime player? If it does, I don’t know what the problem is. With so many combinations of computer + operating system + browser out there, there are plenty of ways for things not to work.

Next time I’ll make sure to push the right button and post a picture instead.

Mozilla doesn’t seem to like this blog’s software very much. I’m planning to post the video clip in another format, but it will be a lot bigger and could have other problems. Stay tuned…

I’ve just uploaded R&R 1.2, adding a new version of the video clip in AVI format. If you still can’t see it, your computer probably has a firewall or virus-protection software that repels pictures of Muse columnists being silly. (I hope not. That would spoil some of my plans for this blog.)

My family has maybe, em, 5 computers. A Mac G5, a Mac G4, a Mac G4, a regular turqiouse Mac, and a Mac G4 laptop. My uncle works at a computer company, so he always gives us his “old” computers.

In general, Rosanne answers questions about cute animals, food, bodily functions, and anything funny and/or disgusting. I get the ones about stars, planets, rocks, ugly animals, atoms, and numbers. There are plenty of exceptions, though. For example, I answered the Q&A column’s only Jell-O question (February 2002).

I guess you looked like what I thought you might, but I didn’t have a very clear picture to begin with since it’s hard for me to imagine peoples’ appearances judging only from what they write.
