GAPAs, do I have to get my parents to send in permission for photos again?

    Anyway…
IMPORTANT! WE SAW FOSSILS AT THE MUSEUM THAT WERE HIGHLY TELLING. These fossils aren’t necessarily bad, in the sense that they give us more information…
    But they are definitely important.
This information was in a locked room, and I took the pictures through a glass door. However, they tracked me down, and are nearing me with every second…
This Information is vital, I repeat, vital, to the future of MuseBlog. The Fossils were of-

NOTHING HAPPENED AT THE MUSEUM. I GOT TOGETHER WITH SOME MUSERS AND LOOKED AT BORING ARTIFACTS.
    EAT PINK ICE CREAM.
I WILL SEND IN SOME OF THE BORING PHOTOS I TOOK.
    PET A BUNNY.
    THAT IS ALL.

    • No, we don’t need another round of permissions. We won’t get the pictures up tonight though. There’s quite a pile of them, and I’m already so cross-eyed I can barely read what I’m typing. (Not literally cross-eyed because I can’t actually cross my eyes; more like unsynchronized.

You can’t go cross-eyed? Not even if you focus on the very tip of your nose with both eyes? Oh, does that mean you’re one of those people who can’t manage those magic eye puzzles? I could never do those when I was little…..And I still don’t do ’em the proper way, so I see ’em in reverse: What’s supposed to pop out of the page, actually indents…..And I am completely off topic, so I shall now hit submit.

        • I can do most Magic Eye puzzles (with effort), but they depend on divergence. If you’re seeing them inverted, that means you’re crossing your eyes, according to the official web site.

One of my favorite books Vision and Art: the Biology of Seeing by Margaret Livingstone, has two or three illusions that depend on crossed-eyes that I simply cannot do, no matter how hard I try. My eyes will simply not go that far inward. It was incredibly frustrating, especially as the author was saying how much easier they were to do than those that required divergent eye movements (though I could gloat that those were actually easy for me).

Heh. I really cannot cross my eyes. Literally. No mater how hard I try, my left eye gives up halfway there and I end up with my right eye looking at my finger on my nose and my left eye in between front and my nose. People never believe it until I show them, then it’s: “Woah! Your left eye gave up halfway!” “Yes, I told you that.”. Gah.

      • SudoRandom says:

To cross your eyes, have you tried putting your finger in front of your face at arms length and focusing on it, then moving it in slowly?

I don’t much care if this is off-topic; I just figured out how to do the magic eye puzzles the right way, and I am PROUD. Luna, I can do them! I was like you! I always crossed my eyes and it looked weird, even though it worked. But now it REALLY works, for real! I can do it!

Ahem. I’ll go look at pretty pictures now.

I’ve done it the right way a few times, but I find it significantly harder. And when I do it the wrong way, I can cross my eyes, see the picture, uncross my eyes and the picture stays until I move my eyes either off the page, or wave something between my eyes and the page. I always thought that was weird. When I do it the right way, I can barely get the image to stay any time at all.

  5. Jadestone says:

I cannot do them. If what you are talking about is those pictures made out of those red-blue splotches/dots? I have tried crossing my eyes, and doing it the right way, but I cannot get them to work for me.

ANYWAYKOKNRIGHT. Were you in Amherst as in Amherst where the college is?

This Kokon sounds like fun, even though I know nothing about it. (Yet.) In two years I’ll go on a field trip to Boston and I wish that I could meet all of you Massachusetts folks but I doubt that the teachers would let me go, even if you all did plan a Kokon around that time. I can just picture the conversation now:

Me: Hey, can I meet up with some friends I met online?
Teacher: No! Have you MET these “friends” before?
    Me: Well….not exactly.
Teacher: Then you have no idea who they might be. It might be a plan for them to hurt you! They might be stalkers in dark coats waiting to kidnap and kill you!! And besides, you need to stay with US on the field trip.
Me: I have to stay with YOU? *shudder* (Thinks to self: I’m going to go anyway! Mwhahaha!)

    Ten minutes later:

    Me: Hi, online friends!
Friends: Hi! *kidnaps me and takes me away to some faraway evil land*

Heh. It looks like one of those cyber safety movies they show us in elementary school.

  7. Due to an unexpected crunch on my schedule, and because there are so many photos, I’m going to post the kokonvention pictures a little differently, by a direct link to a dedicated Photobucket album.

Click on the group photo to see the rest.

  10. Loreena Chatheng (AP) says:

I would like to say something.

I know that GAPAs don’t *encourage* kokons. I know that once planning actually gets real and specific, it ceases to be done on the blog and starts to be done ever email. However, because of so many kokon suggestions on the kokon threads that are only suggestions and never turn into anything, it is often hard to realize that a kokonvention is actually being planned and not just being dreamed about. Therefore, I think it would be nice of the GAPAs, who technically have to follow every thread to moderate, to do the following.

When it becomes apparent to the more experienced minds of the GAPAs that a kokon is in fact being planned, they can post a thread called “(insert name of state/large city/part of state here) kokon being planned on (insert thread name here).” That way, people can realize that they have the chance to not miss out on time and join in the planning.

This may be too difficult for the GAPAs to constantly do, but it would be really sweet. I once found out about a SoCal kokon after it had happened, and I might have actually made it if only I had known…

SudoRandom, how old are you? Don’t worry, I’m not gonna stalk you, I just wondered. Because from the pictures, it looks like you’re about my age.

    • soccer starr says:

I was wondering about the ages too. If I do remember correctly, (And no, I’m not a stalker either!) Armada is 13, but that’s only a very vague guess so my apologies to Armada if that’s incorrect. As for the others I don’t know…

I’m jealous, you guys look like you had so much fun! It would be so cool to meet another MB. (I mean, another MB I don’t already know – I’m not counting the two people I “recruited” for the cause, although neither of them have posted in a while…*sigh*. Why do new MBers never stick around for longer than one-two weeks? Why?!)

      • Armada says:

That’s correct, I’m 13. And I sympathize with your efforts to recruit….I’ve been there. As for kokoning, where do you live? *is not stalker, honestly, just wants to know if you live somewhere I might go sometime*

Why is it…….that when I was in Kindergarten, 6th graders (age 11) looked huge, and when I was that age we were all normal sized, and now 11/12 year olds just look…..so much smaller than I remember being at that age?

I don’t mean to insult anybody, it just…..is weird. As you grow up, you have the oddest feeling that the sizes of people in comparison to their age is decreasing. It’s disconcerting.

New Jersey, although my desperate longing to meet another blogger will probably never be fulfilled because of a few points you may want to keep in mind:

My parents would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS let me go and meet someone else I met online. I mean, they seriously never would. Just asking them would probably cause them to haul me off to some doctor to get my brain checked. That’s how crazy they are.

Also, I don’t want to cause offense to anyone on here, because I know you guys are all good people. But as much as I would love to meet y’all, I’m still not sure I’m totally comfy with the idea of just going and meeting people I don’t actually “know.” To tell you the truth, it just seems so…awkward, I guess. Besides, I’m sure you guys wouldn’t like me all that much offline, and I don’t want to ruin my rep. ;) I feel like such a party pooper, but it’s true… :( :( :(

Hee. Brightly colored hats. My fourth grade teacher took so many photos on our field trips, and we took three. So about 300 pics in total. Anyway, the first I wore blue, the second I wore green, and the third I wore yellow. They were are (yes, I still have them) huge and floppy. You could easily find me by looking for a bright spot of color.

A hyperactive, smart aleck, huge colorful hat wearing nine year old running around with a huge smile and screaming. reminds me of SR. (^-^)
