Anyway, to clarify my post on the last thread:
I need more characters. MuseBlogger characters, same as those who have starred in countless past FanFictions. Any volunteers?
Next segment of Caltomine’s Pride (Working title) coming as soon as I get it sorted out properly.

Right. Reposting the beginning as well, to keep things tidy.

Darkness. Shadow upon shadow, folding together to form shapes that were concealed, land that could only be felt. Then, a figure appeared. The shadow ran across the dark ground, a point of light visible through its closed fist. She had to hide it- But was this back far enough? It had to be. She couldn’t go back any further. She didn’t know if there was a further. No people roamed here, that was sure. Nobody would find it. She sank to the ground and dug a small hole. She dropped the point of light in the hole, put her hand to it, touching it, and gathered the loose dirt around her hand. She closed her eyes, and the speck of light still filtering up intensified. Then, she vanished. The dirt that been held back by her hand fell down around the spot of light, and the land was dark once more.

    ***
The Council was in disorder. All moving around the room, searching for something. They didn’t notice the figure standing at the door. Not until the figure spoke.
    “It’s gone.”
As one, they straitened up to look at her.
    “How do you know?”
“It was I who took it.”
The tallest of the nine figures spoke.
    “Why did you do this?”
“You were planning on overthrowing everything. I could not allow that.”
“What you could not allow is nothing to us. I am our leader.”
“Nevertheless, when you are going the wrong direction, any of us can stop you. I waited long before taking this step, but as nobody opposed you openly, I took it upon myself.”
    “Where did you put it?”
“In the past. Far, far in the past, before light. Before anything. I never tried to discover where, or when, I was, so I cannot know. Now, do what you will to me.”
The tall woman questioning her straitened up “Very well. Caltomine, I, Calliope, as leader of the Council, hereby banish you from our Circle. You are no longer our sister. The Muses do not recognize you.” She paused. “Come here no mo-” But her dramatic speech was interrupted. A tenth figure had come in through the door opposite the one where Caltomine stood, and now spoke.
    “I don’t agree.”
Calliope turned. “Urania, I do not see that it makes a difference what you agree to. You are youngest. If there is a second Muse that also disagrees, I shall listen.” She turned to the rest of the Muses. “Do any of you disagree with the decision to banish Caltomine?”
Caltomine remained silent, not pleading for assistance, nothing. Nobody spoke.
“Very well then.” Calliope turned back to Caltomine. “Come here no more.”
Caltomine glared. “You will never achieve your goal.”
Calliope sneered back. “And how do you know?”
“I am the Muse of Foresight. I know.” She paused, and looked around. “You will regret this decision, all of you, for the remainder of your life.”
Calliope rolled her eyes now. “You are in no position to make threats.”
“I make no threats. It is simply a statement of fact. You will regret this decision.”
With that, she turned and walked away from the hall of the Muses, away from the life she had known, never to return. But her final words came true. Every one of the Muses eventually withered away with shame that they had not came to the aid of their sister. Calliope lasted longest, but even she withered. Except for the youngest. Urania, the only one who had spoken against Caltomine’s removal. The only one who was not included in Caltomine’s statement of doom. She alone remained. But as the old Muses withered, new ones took their places. Urania selected them, and forged a secret hall for them. When Calliope withered, Urania found a new leader for them, a new start. Kokopeli, the pie-throwing menace. The New Muses were formed. The Old Muses were no more. But their ideas remained, festering in dark corners. And their means, though lost, was there.

Errata woke to the ringing of her alarm clock. She sat up and yawned. Reaching over to turn off the highly annoying alarm, she glanced at the time. It took a minute to process.
“Six!” she yelped then. “I wasn’t supposed to be up until seven!”
She sighed. Not much point in going back to sleep now, she supposed. It wouldn’t take too long, but there was no point in being forced to go through the process of waking up twice. So after a moment, she reached for her laptop. Opening it, she waited a moment for it to get connected to the internet. She might as well check MuseBlog while she was waiting, maybe get some work done on a story.
A moment later, her computer pinged softly, informing her that she had mail. A click later she was glancing over the email’s sender, to see whether it was worth reading now. It was from the GAPAs. This fact registered with a bit of shock. She could only remember them emailing her once, ever, and that was concerning her account’s password… Nearly everything was simply posted on the ‘Blog. Her curiosity building, she clicked on the email.

    Dear Errata,
We read that you would be the Philadelphia area around a week from now. We would not ask this of you if we did not have to, but we must. On June 18, find a way to get to Independence National Historical Park. On 6th street, across from Saint James’ Place, in Washington square, there is a bench. It is easily recognizable as the only bench for some ways on that side, besides being across from a lamp post and fairly close to exactly between two trees. Find that bench. Under it, there will be a stone. Under that stone, there will be a hole. Dig down straight, until you find something. You will know what we mean when you find it. Take it, keep it safe, and tell nobody of it. Do not even mention it on MuseBlog. This is of utmost importance.
    With all sincerity,
    The GAPAs.

She read the email over twice. All of it made perfect sense, she supposed. But the request was still extremely odd, even for MuseBlog. That didn’t stop her from complying with it, of course. Maybe she’d find out what it was about afterwards. Or maybe she never would. But she was definitely more likely to find out if she did. Besides, would it really be that hard?

    REPOST FOR GREAT JUSTICE!
    ~
Urania sat back in her chair, running a hand through her now-hopelessly tangled blond hair. The holographic blueprint hovering in front of her was incredibly complex, but after a few seconds of concentration she’d measured each strut and panel, calculated the stresses on each one of them, and reduced the tangled lines to a neat little pile of dancing numbers in her head.
After a moment, she gulped down the remnants of her Turkish coffee, reached into the image, and tagged a few key points with glowing red dots, the Intelligent Air sensing her intent as easily as it tracked the position of her fingers.
A voice whispered in her ear- a new supervisor, she could tell, although the distorter program in the Air masked the speech patterns. Definitely female, probably young. “How’s it going?”
Urania gritted her teeth at the false warmth in the woman’s voice. “The general design is sound, but the way you’ve implemented it is faulty. Several of the plates surrounding the fusion core are insufficiently insulated- you’ll have to replace them months before spec. And the support strut arrangement puts all the weight on three key points- I’ve attached a suggestion for better mass distribution. Overall, if you put this into production, you’ll get a fifteen to nineteen percent drop in efficiency.”
“Well, thank you very much,” the woman continued. “We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Of course you couldn’t have, you crow-gnawed buffoons, Urania thought. Aloud, she said. “Of course. My next destination?”
“Venus- we’ve laid a course into your shuttle’s navigation system already. There’s an orbital telescope they want looked at.”
The Muse of Astronomy cut off the transmission without ceremony and quietly recited the first three hundred and sixty digits of pi to calm herself down. Then she reached into the Intelligent Air interface and sent a call to Mount Parnassus.
It was answered on the third ring. The cool green cloud of Air, the loading screen of the Whispernet, resolved into a smiling, ageless face, the twin (or more accurately, nonuplet) of Urania’s. “Γειά σου, Οὐρανία!”
Urania returned the smile. “Hi, Thalia. How’s everything?”
The Old Muse of Comedy remained silent for a few seconds- at these distances, time lag was still a factor. “Not bad,” she finally said. “Calliope’s been hunched up with that typewriter for the last few weeks, Melpomene’s moping, and Euterpe’s working on a new αὐλός pipe. Believe it or not, it’s actually kind of quiet.” Her grin widened. “I’ll have to change that.”
Thalia’s expression turned thoughtful as she realized what her sister had meant. “They’re treating us very well, ‘Rani. We’ve got an entire mountain to ourselves.”
A mountain with a kilo of antimatter in magnetic suspension under it, Urania thought bitterly. “Well, if you need anything, tell me, OK?”
“Sure thing. Σ’ αγαπώ.” Thalia ended the call.
The Muse of Astronomy muttered a highly detailed Greek curse involving all four Furies and the Pythagorean theorem before activating the prison-shuttle’s controls and setting a course for Venus.

This is a peice of a story I worte. Please give me feedback.

It was late spring. Almost summer. The hazy sunlight filtered through the thick forest of the elves and playfully tickled a young elf awake. Omis stood and looked around, there was smoke coming from the chimney of his parent’s house on the other side of the clearing. During the spring and summer Omis rarely slept inside. He preferred the soft moss under an large oak to be better suited for his needs. After a moment he remembered what he was thinking about when he had closed his eyes to drift into his retreat deep within himself where he flew from one thought to the next. Where reality wasn’t distinguished fantasy. His sense of purpose reawakened, Omis reached into a hollow in the oak and withdrew his bow and quiver. Then running to the small workshop inside a colossal hemlock, Omis let his eyes rest on the finished bow on the wall. It was made of dark wood, with long recurved arms. It shined from the polish Omis had rubbed into it, murmuring words of power imbedded with energy. The bow would never break or the string slip, this bow would Omis’s. He had worked on it for countless days through the winter.
Taking his old yew bow, graceful by the standards of men but poor in those of the elves, Omis lifting his old bow and whispered, “Sthim enta thoe.”, I release you. Then grabbing his new bow Omis ran as fleet as the morning dew to the archery range.
Stringing the bow, he took his place at the line of elves shooting at targets far away. Drawing an arrow Omis placed it on the string, his breathing relaxed and grinning at the draw-weight of the bow, he released. It was, Omis thought, poetry in motion. Without a sound the arrow sped away and sailed meters in a second and finally hit the distant target with a thump. Still grinning, the young elf poured shaft after shaft into the targets.
An hour later Omis dropped from a tree branch, bow on his back, onto the ground below. The older elf in front of him turned around at the feather light sound. “You’ve finished the confounded bow now have you?”
“Yes Tharan, and it shoots beautifully too! Silent and swift!”
“Sure”, his bother grunted, “Now go, I’ve got to practice.”
Turning his back Tharan summoned a ball of air and tried to twist it into a line of glyphs. Omis jumped into the same tree, ten feet above him, and sat in the shadow of the trunk and watched his bother. Silent as an wraith, a second elf appeared beside him. They were very much alike. Both were almost six feet tall with hair like starlight. Clad in green and russet tunics with bows on their backs the two elves blended into the tree. “Hello Islandi.”, Omis said without turning.
Islandi regarded her other bother with bright eyes, “He’s having trouble isn’t he?”
Omis giggled and tapped his fist. A row of air glyphs appeared. They read, Do you like my bow?.
Islandi tapped the side of her head, the glyphs for yes I do floated out of her opposite ear. Both giggling the siblings jumped to the next tree and then to the ground. Together they ran to a clearing away from their older bother. Stopping finally. Islandi knelt and unearthed from her waist pouch a metal flask of cider, after they both took a sip Omis nocked a arrow to his bow, “Watch”, he told his sister. In a blur of motion Omis shot the arrow high into the air. The dart sheared off an early apple blossom. Then the arrow came back down. Moving a few inches Omis caught the shaft in his quiver. The sharp broadhead came to rest in the reinforced bottom of the quiver. Then reaching his upraised palm the boy caught the flower and gave it to Islandi.

I’m having a strange urge to write a Muse fanfic TV show. One about Muse Academy, in particular. I won’t really have time to write it until I get back from Paris (in a week and a half or so), and I may never write it, but I’ll start collecting descriptions.

I’d sort of like to make this in a high school setting, so if I could get MBers who are 14 to 16 or thereabouts, that would be great. I’ll need name, age, grade, gender, and personality description. Physical descriptions are optional but helpful. You won’t be evil, although you may be whiny/annoying/unpleasant if I feel like it (probably not). I reserve the right to do anything I like with/to your character, even if you don’t like it.

In the meantime we learned the extent of the hacking and realized we’d have to upgrade the WordPress software else be vulnerable to a repeat. The new problem was that Blix, the theme (design and layout) used for MuseBlog from the beginning was not compatible with the new version of WordPress. Therefore on the 9th we shut down MB again during renovations.

I’ll be in any fic which is in need of a character.

    Name: Abby
    Age: 15
    Grade: 10
Description: About 4’4″, long light brown hair that’s down to a couple of inches below my armpits (unlayered, no bangs), eyes that are mostly blue greenish with some yellow/orange/brown in the center. They change color depending on what I’m wearing. I wear almost exclusively jeans of various shades of blue and various fits during the fall, winter, and spring. I’m on the chubbier side of average weight. Lately, I always seem to have my nails painted–it’s what I do when I’m procrastinating.
Personality: Bookish, reads a lot, dedicated and hard-working but procrastinates altogether too much, academic-focused–the kid who other kids always ask for help during class. I’m pretty musical and I play three instruments (oboe, alto sax, violin), all of which have names–Vann, Cairo Phoenix or CP, and Clara Amelia. I’m fairly shy and don’t talk much around people I don’t know, and I’m somewhat of an introvert anyway. Around my friends, though, I can be very talkative, random, and energetic. I blush entirely too easily and am a barely mediocre liar at best and a dreadful liar at worst.

Okay, here’s what I’ve got so far.

    Strange Happenings

Jen was your ordinary teenage girl. That is, for a MuseBlogger. But soon, the Muserly definition of ordinary would be changing drastically. And Jen would be caught in the middle, as would other MBers.

She woke up, as usual, to her iPhone singing “Have a pie”. She got up, singing along, and put on her usual outfit, a MA t-shirt over jeans, with a MA cap, a hot pink handkerchief sticking out of her pocket, and a “pie”-a small cushion shaped like a pie- with the word “Fireh” embroidered on it strapped to her left hand completing her outfit. She paused, then went over to her desk and opened a small drawer, very carefully. Inside was the hot pink watch her aunt had given her for her birthday. Picking it up carefully, she inspected it thoroughly before strapping it to her right wrist. “Hope it’s not a gift from the bunnies.” she muttered under her breath, then laughed. “Like HPBs really exist. Not.” she added, grinning at herself in the mirror as she cartwheeled out of her room and decided to skip the steps, hopping onto the railing and sliding down. “Oi, Jen! Morning!” her younger sister greeted her as she started assembling her breakfast. “Hey. G’morning yourself.” Jen replied cheerfully. “Dont make me bunnify you now.” She added, then looked at her sister again. “Not that you need it, wearing a shirt like that.” she grinned, pointing at Martha’s hot pink shirt. ((Martha=Jens younger sister. Not my younger sisters name.))
Martha laughed. “You’re too obsessed with that blog thing, Jen.” Jen shrugged. “And?” she retorted, grabbing her toast out of the toaster and shoving it in her mouth. “See ya after school!” she yelled over her shoulder as she went out the door.

    ———-
After a refreshing morning of schoolwork, Jen was inspecting the school cafeteria carefully, grinning as she spotted the “popular” group, all wearing hot pink for some reason. She sauntered over to them casually and remarked loudly into a gap in the conversation, “You shouldn’t wear hot pink like that. If you don’t take the correct precautions you’re risking bunnification from so much exposure.”
They stared at her. “What?” one finally ventured. “Bunnification is hyptnosis by a hot pink bunny, or HPB, that renders you their slave.” Jen elaborated. Another person laughed. “Youve got a hot pink cloth and watch, and you don’t seem to be hyptonised.” en retorted. Jen shrugged. “I took the correct precautions. And I’m trying to build up Resistance.”
    “Oh? Prove it!”
“I could bunnify you with this watch.” Jen bluffed, pointing her right hand at en, who laughed. “Yeah, riiiight.” Jen narrowed her eyes. “Bunnify!” she yelled, and blinked. Out of the top of the watch, a pink light was shooting towards one of the populars. Upon impact, ens eyes turned pink and en grew claws. Jen’s mouth fell open. “Uhhh…. DEBUNNIFY!” she yelled hastily. Now a blue light emmited from the watch towards en, debunnifying upon impact. The populars gaped at her. “I told you.” Jen smirked knowingly and walked away.
    ——
After school, Jen went straight to her room and nearly dived on top of her laptop. As she hastily booted it up, she removed the watch and put it in a small, locked, drawer. Hastily she typed into her browser the MB URL and went to the Monthly Random Thread.

Someone help me. I’m going mad. There’s no other explanation. At lunch my watch bunnified someone. The watch is hot pink…. I shouldn’t have worn it. Luckily I managed to debunnify en before any real damage.

The next section of Caltomine’s Pride Last section in post 4.

They were on their way to Philadelphia, driving, and stopping along the way at any points of interest. Errata was enjoying herself wonderfully, but at the back of her mind, worrying away, was the concern of the mysterious message. She kept wondering what was buried there, under the bench. Probably nothing yet, of course, but still, when she had nothing better to do she imagined what could possibly be there, that was so important that the GAPAs had to ask her to retrieve it. She had very few ideas. Well, scads of them, but most were just wild imaginings about secret weapons that she needed to keep safe from HPBs. But even she realized that, though it would be amazing, HPBs did not exist. So when you got down to it, she had no idea. She’d just have to wait.

    ***
They were finally there. June 18th was the next day, and that was the day they were scheduled to go to Independence National Historical Park. This was not totally coincidence.
Errata decided to just wait, until her family decided to go to Washington Square. They finally did, and started walking around the park. She scanned the map. The street refered to in the email was over there. The opposite direction from the way they were walking.
Not too hard. She made a great show of finally getting totally fed up with her brother’s commentary, as if they were all race cars in a race, and turned around to walk back the other way.
She found the bench without a problem, and the stone was, indeed under it. Sitting casually down behind the bench, she moved the stone and began digging, slowly and carefully.
She was wondering how much farther a foot was, when she looked down into the hole, and there it was. A small stone, green and glowing faintly. She picked it up. Perfectly round. This, then, was what they wanted. She picked it up. Just then, she heard a voice behind her.
    “Who are you?”
Errata turned. A girl stood behind her, staring at her. “Who are you?” she asked again.
Errata considered that. Her impulse was to just tell the girl her full name, but something told her that wasn’t what the girl wanted. She thought a moment.
“I am Errata.” It made sense. After all, the email had been addressed to Errata, and the girl didn’t sound like she was just trying to make friends.
This was apparently the right choice. The girl nodded, and brought out of her bag a small metallic oval shape, followed by a clear plastic casing. She held them for a moment.
“When will you arrive back at home?”
“Um… Two weeks from now. July first.”
“Right.” The girl looked down and fiddled with the plastic casing. Then she snapped it over the metallic oval. She then gave the entire thing to Errata.
“Keep this, and that other thing, safe. I cannot tell you more.”
Errata took it. She looked up at the girl and opened her mouth, about to ask something. The girl interrupted her. “I will see you again. Until then, farewell.”
She turned and started to walk away. Then she turned. “Remember, keep it safe.” Then she turned and continued walking Errata stared at the contraption in her hands. Then she looked up again. The girl was fairly far away. After a moment, Errata stuffed the oval into her purse, and continued on her walk.

    ***
In the hotel room, she inconspicuously pulled out the oval, and headed into the bathroom. Sitting on the floor, she examined the odd shape.
It was still enclosed in its plastic, which had a small screen on it, showing a number of hours. A
large number of hours; well into the hundreds. It didn’t appear to be openable.
The device itself wasn’t much more comprehensible. Errata couldn’t begin to understand it. After a minute, she stood up and left, putting the device into her suitcase, as hidden as she could get it. Then she took the stone out of her pocket and looked at it again. It was slightly smaller than a marble, and fairly unremarkable.
    Remember, keep it safe.
She hesitated. Would it be safer in her suitcase? Or in her purse, near her? She finally put it in her suitcase. Less chance of losing it there.

    ***

Next section coming fairly soon. Maybe. Really depends. Anyway, just for clarification, the unnamed girl that gives Errata the device is KaiYves. This will be revealed within the narrative later. Don’t worry Kai, you’ll have a bigger part later. ;)

    Strange Happenings, Part Two
Mira was just your ordinary eleven-year-old, except she wasn’t ordinary. Well, she was ordinary for a MuseBlogger! However, soon, the Muserly definition of ordinary would be changing drastically. And Mira would be unlucky (or was she lucky?) enough to get caught in the middle, as would a certain few other MBers.

She woke up in the morning that weekend as always, just in time to get dressed. And as she was about to rush out the door to the car, she remembered the hot pink charm bracelet that had been given to her as a birthday present, with a customized set of MB charms on it. It hadn’t been worn yet, but today was the perfect day.
“Hurry up, Mira!” her mom called.
“Coming!” Mira yelled back, throwing on her charm bracelet and heading out. And where were they going, you ask? To a very popular park!

As Mira ran to get away from her younger brother about twenty minutes later, she stopped behind a tree and looked at her bracelet. Thinking about MuseBlog was something she did quite often, and as she gazed at the bracelet, she muttered “I wish I was Varete…”
Suddenly, a pink, green, and white ray of light emerged from her charm bracelet and struck her. Then, if anyone had looked at her hiding spot, they would have seen a bunch of sparkles surrounding a human form. When they vanished, Mira wasn’t standing there anymore: Varete Teris was. Wasting no time, the pink-eyed girl stared at the charm bracelet and whispered “I wish I was myself again!”

And she was. Thankfully, her mother then called her, saying they were leaving exactly then, so she pondered about it all the way home. And when she was about to post about it, she noticed fireh had gone through a similar happenstance, and replied to that post.

Alice picked her way over the shards of concrete and glass, her breath harsh and loud in her ears, amplified by the gas mask half covering her face. She flicked a strand of damp hair away from her face- even in April, the sweltering heat and heavy mask were making her perspire.
“Find anything?” TMFA’s voice came sudden and sharp over the radio.
Alice replied with a sort of vocal shrug. “Meh. The Brahmagupta Institute was at the center of the bombardment. Not much left but a crater. I did manage to get into a deep cellar and found a couple computers still intact- I’ve got the hard disks in the case right now. Obviously all the documents were burned.”
TMFA hissed in frustration. “The Confederation must have learned about the reverse-engineering attempts. Nothing else worth taking here.”
Alice nodded, although she knew TMFA wouldn’t see it. “I’ll be back in five.”
Following the old map on the flexiscreen strapped to her wrist, she navigated the ruined streets of Mumbai back to the coast. Several of the piers had shattered and sunk from the shock of the blast. A rusting oil tanker listed out in the bay like a whale’s rotting corpse.
The little raft with its outboard motor was tied up where she’d left it. She got in with no small sense of relief. Even after six years of running and hiding from the Confeds, onshore work still made her nervous. India wasn’t even the worst, when compared to the radioactive rubble of Hokkaido or the stranglecreeper jungle that had consumed everything south of Hadrian’s Wall.
Alice started up the motor, thinking longingly of taut rigging and billowing white sails, and putt-putted out into the bay.
The first sign of trouble was a beep from the flexiscreen on her wrist. The second was a loud curse over the commlink.

Hey, could I make a fanfic? I could make it about… Genetic manipulation!
The characters could be humanoids who look and act and think like everyone else, but find out that they are actually illegal mutants created by a mad scientist. They also have a squad of secret police trying to kill them. I would need people to be the mutants, people to be the secret police, and someone to be the mad scientist. The mutants each need to have a distinct power that they don’t initially know they have. They also need one “normal” name (Like Kayla) and one “mutant” name (Like Flystra) that corresponds with their power. The secret police also need a normal name and a code name (Like Double Negative) that means something but doesn’t necessarily have to do with anything. The mad scientist only needs one name, but it doesn’t have to be normal.

    Strange Happenings, Part Three
Hannah was just your ordinary high schooler… strange, anime-obsessed, tended to talk to herself and to inanimate objects…. Well, that’s ordinary for a MuseBlogger! However, soon, the Muserly definition of ordinary would be changing drastically. And Hannah would be unlucky (or was she lucky?) enough to get caught in the middle, as would a certain few other MBers.

“Time for school, Hannah! Get up!”
“I AM up, Mom,” she called back. “I’ve been awake since six-thirty.”
“Well, duh, that’s when your alarm goes off.”
“I’ve been out of bed since six-thirty, that better?”
“What are you doing up there?”
“Ummmm, nothing…” Which was obviously a lie.
    “Hannah! What are you doing?”
    “Nothing! I’m almost done!”
    “You’re… almost done doing nothing?”

She was almost done trying to find that pendant Sudo had randomly mailed to her. She hadn’t even realized he remembered her address, and suddenly he’d sent her this pretty necklace, just a few days before…. the only odd thing about it was its color, which was hot pink, and that it looked exactly like Princess Tutu’s except for its color. Oh, and he hadn’t written a note, plus there hadn’t been any occasion or anything. Her birthday wasn’t till May.
“Aha!” she said, grabbing it and putting it on. It went perfectly with her outfit, so of course she had occasion to wear it! Even if it ended up bunnifying her or something!

At school that day, she was quickly caught up in the whirlwind of schoolwork. Finally, she had a chance to take a break! She went in the bathroom to make sure her hair didn’t look totally stupid. A futile effort, since it kinda did.
“I wish my hair was straight…” she muttered, turning around and walking out of the bathroom. As she turned, she noticed her pendant glowing.
“Wow, that’s a pretty cool trick of the light,” she said. “Or maybe there’s a heart shard around?” She laughed, reaching up to twirl a piece of her hair.
    Which felt suspiciously straight.
“I wish my eyes were green,” she said, testing this new power.
    Her eyes were green.

But we’re really going to need to work out the story beforehand. There are at least a dozen different factions working on entirely different agendas in this tale, and with time travel mixed in, there’s going to be some serious problems if we don’t.

I’m good at imitating TP’s style, but I’m a little hazier on the Doc and friends.
Plot… let’s say that the Doctor or Martha notices Jack clinging to the outside in mid-Vortex and does the equivalent of “yanking the handbrake,” bringing the TARDIS to a screeching halt in unknown reaches of space and time (ie the Disc). They land in Ankh-Morpork, quite near the Canting Crew (Foul Ole Ron, The Duck Man, Sideways Arnold, Altogether Andrews, Coffin Henry and Gaspode- the designated witnesses to supernatural events that nobody else notices). The scene proceeds as the first scene of Utopia did (mainly)… but Jack, before he revives, sees Death.
Discworld’s Death bears an uncanny resemblance to the thing that turned Owen Harper into a walking dead man (see Torchwood), so it’s safe to say that as soon as he revives, Jack is strongly in favor of getting as far away from there as possible.
They continue, and Utopia proceeds as normal… but when the Master steals the TARDIS, the only place for him to go is the Disc, about a week before Thief of Time begins.
More on his DIABOLICAL PLANS later.

Wait…..I think the timelines a bit wonky. Jack goes off with the Doctor (clinging to the TARDIS) immediately post season 1 Torchwood. Owen does not get turned into a walking dead man until Season 2 TW, unless I’ve forgotten the TW timeline completely……So that event not having yet happened, would Jack necessarily be quite so “strongly in favor of getting as far away from there as possible”? Since he wouldn’t notice any sort of uncanny resemblance?

And SPOILERISHNESS by the “thing that turned Owen” into a walking dead man, do you mean the alien thingy he was sort of turned into for awhile? Because unless I forget (possible, no arguments there–it was way back in October when I watched TW), it was just the glove (the Risen Mitten) that resurrected Owen…..(Aghhhhh. Ianto quotes flooding mind. Now I’m feeling depressed…..)

I think you’re right, actually… It’s been a while since I watched Torchwood. But it’ll still work- if Jack sees an actual personification of Death, then I’m sure he’ll think staying is a bad idea.

              • Luna the Lovely says:

That’s probably true, although, actually, I just had a thought–given Jack’s immortality, and his desire to find the Doctor in order to be “cured”, would he himself want to get away from a personification of Death? I mean, he’d want to get the Doctor and Martha away, because he cares about the Doctor (and certainly comes to care for Martha, even if she’s nothing more than a pretty face to him at this moment), but I almost feel that he’d be intrigued by this personification of Death, perhaps thinking that he could get answers about his immortality–and even a cure. I mean, that’s why he was so keen on finding the Doctor, because I remember him mentioning once (I think it was on TW, not a fanfic) that he needed to find a particular sort of doctor, to help him with his problem.

Sorry, I’m probably being annoying and nitpicky here, especially as once we get down to this level Jack’s behavior is really a matter of personal interpretation.

                • POSOC says:

Actually, that might kill two birds with one stone.
A problem that’s been nagging at me is that the Doctor has NEVER left a place the TARDIS landed without exploring a bit- and if he gets dragged into the plot of Thief of Time prematurely, the Master’s involvement will not work well. However, if Jack heads willingly off with Death, and the Doc and Martha might assume that this was what the TARDIS brought them there for, and continue to the End of the Universe.
But then Jack wouldn’t be there to operate the Applied Phlebotinum Generators that allowed Yana’s spaceship to launch…
Perhaps Doc and Martha amuse themselves in Ankh Morpork for a day or so (possibly a comedic subplot where Colon and Nobby try to arrest them) while Jack and Death converse. Then, with questions still unanswered, Jack returns to the TARDIS and they all continue to the End of the Universe.
Or perhaps Jack goes off with Death while Martha and the Doc continue, but the Doc has to fix Jack’s Vortex Manipulator a bit earlier than in canon (to allow him to reach Death’s Domain). Then, just when all seems lost and they need a man who can’t die, Jack shows up in the deep future (via the VM) and saves the day. Utopia continues with only minor differences.

                    Or:

They arrive. Death comes to take Jack, but seeing he’s still alive, leaves. Jack chases Death, and The Doctor and Martha miss him. Doc and Martha spend time in Morpork, and then leave. Jack grabs on as before.

When the Master goes to Discworld, he begins his attempt to rule the Universe there, instead of Earth. He hires Igors to try and unlock the TARDIS’s coordinates. Martha, Jack, and The Doctor travel there with Jack’s wristy-thingys, but the Disc’s magic interferes, and they are sent off to different places. Jack meets Nanny Ogg, Martha meets Susan, Doctor ends up with the History Monks. When The Master runs up against Venitari, the Igors start wondering about him. But the Master manages to unlock the coordinates, and travel to Earth. Martha and company follow him.

When at the end of The Last Of The Time Lords, The Master takes Martha’s wrist thing, he transports to the Disc instead of just keeping it. Martha and Jack free the TARDIS, and they follow The Master. Martha tells the Igors about the Toclafane, and they proceed to stop The Master by shooting them down. He goes back to the Disc in the TARDIS and remakes it into a paradox machine. Martha and Jack have to use the wristband. They go back, and every thing proceeds as in canon.

                    I think that’s water tight.

I’m not sure the Master would really need the Igors, given that their area of expertise is more with “the thquithy thtuff” than RAW SPACETIME POWAR, and he managed to turn it into a paradox machine without help.
How would his plan play out on the Disc? No satellites, so no Archangel network. Perhaps he uses L-space to spread the “rhythm of four-” that would require breaking into the Library, though. Not beyond his capabilities, but he’d have to fight space-time distortions, angry books, and a fully grown male orangutan with a badge. He might also team up with Mr. Slant, Lord Rust, Lord de Worde, and the rest of the “chairs” to try and depose Vetinari. With the hypnotic rhythm spreading, Vetinari might be almost powerless to halt the situation. A few very strong-minded people might retain their free will. Vimes fought off the caking Summoning Dark (THAT! IS! NOT! MY! COW!), he can handle a puny Time Lord. The Librarian’s been shown to be immune to all sorts of quasi-magical, mind-affecting stuff (elves’ glamor, the Necrotelecomnicon, etc.) If it spreads beyond Ankh-Morpork and immediate environs, Granny Weatherwax might sit up and take notice.
The arrival of the TARDIS might alert the History Monks to something strange going on, and they could arrive in time to thwart the building of the glass clock… but at the last minute, the Master arrives to steal it or its various components. Lu-Tze might be a bit fuddled by the rhythm as he approaches Ankh-Morpork, but Jeremy Clockson and Lobsang Ludd probably would remain unaffected (a Time Lord trying to stop them would be like the Coast Guard trying to arrest the Atlantic). Assuming Susan has already shown up, Death is out gathering the FourFive Horsemen… this is basically going to be “The Master against the world.” The Toclafane arriving will help to even the odds, at least versus the History Monks and the rest of our heroes. But what about the Auditors? They probably wouldn’t take kindly to the Master hijacking their precious plan. Of course, they have never been able to directly interfere in “mortal” affairs (hiring people like Clockson or Teatime to do their dirty work), even if Time Lords are only “mortal” in the loosest sense of the word.
Most of the Auditors will probably be occupied trying to stop the Five Horsemen, as in the book. Since time never actually stops, Myria LeJean will be the only one in corporeal form.
And I haven’t even factored the Doctor’s appearance in yet… ye gods.
Maybe we shouldn’t set this during Thief of Time at all. The appearance of the Doctor and the Master alone would be enough to catalyze a totally independent Disc story.

So I’m thinking about that weird Star Wars/Space Shuttle thing I wrote a while ago, and I realized that following the official Wookiepedia timeline, the dates don’t match up if I have Lucas making first contact in 1973, just after the events of ANH.

The basic idea of the story is that it’s supposed to be something made up by a 12-year-old playing with spaceship models in the late 70s, so it makes sense they would play loose with dates for the sake of the story. After all, the kid would assume Luke, Leia and Han had future adventures, but en would have no way of knowing how far after ANH they would take place.

But in that case, does it strain credibility for the kid’s imagination to get the plots of the later movies totally correct?

  60. Enceladus should be writing says:

Ok, POSOC. We should set it in it’s own story. I think the insanity of Doctor Who is overtaking the original Discworld plot. So, let’s have the travel periods (beginning of Utopia, between Utopia and The Sound Of Drums, and at the end of Last of The Time Lords) stay the same. The Master wants to use Discworld as a launching point for another plan. He could meet Death, and use his library of everyone’s biographies as a way to L-space in order to spread the 4 beat rhythm through the Disc. The Doctor would have to befriend Death at some point, and Martha has to meet Susan. Jack and Nanny Ogg, of course. The three witched, Nanny Ogg, Granny Weatherwax, and Margrat Garlick could try and stop The Master along with Death and Susan and The Doctor and Martha.

I guess The Master would have everyone not hypnotized fighting him. The Five Horsemen can make an appearance since The Master usually brings along the end of days. *mumbles to self*

More ideas and roughly chronological outline:

The Master (as Harold Saxon) tries to stage a coup. Vignettes around the city reveal how he’s hypnotizing the population. Then a scene where he and his mob break into the Oblong Office and overpower Vetinari.
Granny Weatherwax notices the rhythm of four and sets out for Ankh-Morpork, its epicenter.
Doctor, Susan and Jack arrive for the first time, and quickly leave.
      Events of Utopia.
Doctor, Susan and Jack return via teleporter-thingy and investigate the new Ankh-Morpork.
The Lancre witches arrive, find them, and tell them something’s wrong.
Together, they go around discovering other people who happen to have resisted.
The Master, who has been working with Leonard da Quirm to develop technology alien to the Disc, shows up and takes them prisoner.
The paradox machine is activated. Toclafane show up and wreak havoc. War ensues.
History Monks and Death both notice the paradox, so Lu-Tze and Susan move to save Our Plucky Heroes.
      EPIC BATTLEZ.
Possible scenes from the EPIC BATTLEZ:
Igors build lightning attractor and begin destroying Toclafane.
The Doctor is shot, but pulls the Phlebotinum-trick that he did in The Stolen Earth and drains off excess regeneration energy into his hand. Instead of Donna, Vetinari shows up and absorbs all the Doctor’s knowledge, and the Doctor-clone contains traits of Vetinari (scheming, misanthropy, etc).
Vimes arrests the Master. (He just has to at some point. He’s arrested just about everything else.)
Granny Weatherwax and the Master in a mental duel.

      • Enceladus says:

The Doctor-clone has his hand chopped off as well, so that’s how he has the hand in The Stolen Earth. Is that right?

I’ll write the scene where The Doctor, Martha and Jack arrive. They probably shouldn’t notice Jack, since he went with Death.

Idea for later: Vimes arrests The Doctor and Martha and Jack. They use their teleporty thingy. Comedic scenes where Vimes is looking for them in an empty locked room, and The Doctor can’t get their handcuffs off.

        • POSOC says:

Well, Jack is clinging to the outside of the TARDIS, so he’ll be there… and his physical body will also be there. Time’s fluid in Death’s Domain. He could spend an instructive hour there and “revive” a few seconds later. (So that Utopia progresses almost as in canon, Death shouldn’t be able to “cure” Jack of his immortality.)
I’m envisioning a scene something like this:
(Death shows Jack an enormous, glass monstrosity of loops, curls, helices and switchbacks. Sand flows in half a dozen different directions through it. It is the size of a small house.)
          JACK: What’s that?
          DEATH: IT IS AN HOURGLASS.
          JACK: Doesn’t look like it.
DEATH: IT IS ALSO YOUR LIFE.
          JACK: (Shrugs) Looks like it.
If Vimes is going to arrest them all, this should be before the Master’s total takeover- Vimes would probably have noticed something wrong. He’s incredibly strong-willed, so the hypnotism would have been difficult. Maybe Our Heroes return a couple days before the mob storms the Patrician’s Palace, so that they get a chance to interact with normal Ankh-Morpork.

Okay, some ideas for the MuseBlog-as-a-family fanfic:

-I’m kind of leaning toward having the last name be Embi (that is, MB).

-The house (which would have to be large) could be called The Oasis, and it could be on top of the same trans-dimensional/multi-universal . . . thingy . . . that the H&H is on.

-And so all of the housework and cooking and so on could be done by wungs, which probably wouldn’t exist anywhere else. And there would be HPBs, of course. And fleets of giant space squid.

-One of the universes that is accessible via The Oasis is the universe containing Muse Academy, so the (tentatively named) Embis could go there, and the rest of their universe would think they were homeschooled.

-The GAPAs would, of course, have to be the parental units, but they’d need to be more along the lines of aunts and uncles. Possibly we could have the GAPAs all be siblings from a large family, and the rest of the family got married and had kids, and then died, so their kids were adopted by the GAPAs. (This would make it possible for us to have cousins as well as siblings/twins, although it is a little bit improbable.)

The Embis pille out of the family bus gleefully, many of them toting waterguns, and dash towards the water, splashing each other mercilessly. The Aunts and Uncles call after them in precaution, but who cares? After seeing that they weren’t being paid any attention, they unloaded the bus, laying out on an enormous tarp several crates of cream pies and water balloons for entertanment after everyone got tired of swimming. Meanwhile, in the water, Fireh and Pseudo see a flock of seagulls. “Hey, look! Lakegulls!” Fireh shouted, aiming her watergun at them. “Aw, cake. They’re out of range.” she muttered miserably as gravity came into action, bringing the water to splash back on her head. Tesseract waded over, laughing. “Fi, they are seagulls. Not lakegulls.” the older blogling scolded. “But we’re at the lake, not the seaside!” Fireh protested, turning to Enc. “Arent they lakegulls, Enc?” she asked. Enc shrugged. ” Who cares, as long as they taste good?” he grinned and splashed Tesseract. “Does it really matter, you guys?” he added as an afterthought. Sudo looked at his twin, disgusted. “Eww. That’s disgusting, Enc.” he pretended to gag and pushed Enc underwater. Fireh ducked Sudo. “The reasoning in this case, SiR, is- Is it edible? Does it taste good? Yum! Give me it now!” she splashed him and ran away before he could splash back. Tesseract was still indignant. “They’re still the same species!” she spluttered. “Yes, but a name is only a word. I can change a word if I want to!” Fireh retorted. Maths Lover waded over as well. “Fi, that is entirely illogical.” en said, impersonating Spock. “Sanity is the privilege of the humdrum.” Fireh answered. “Who cares about logic?”

I have an idea for a fan-fiction about when the blog went down in april of last year/ a time loop with the bloggers now and the way they were then and I’d like to “steal” some MBers for it, preferably ones who were really there (there can be a few who weren’t and who simply compare it to their expectations of what MB was like back then). In a nutshell, we end up going back to when the blog went down, except this time it was caused by the HPBs. I also thought I’d focus on us meeting our past selves a bit too… I mean, when you came to MB, you didn’t think that you’d be posting here so long and so much? Your attitude towards your posts and towards many threads probably changed- probably even what you thought about MB. It’d also try angle a bit on MB through the looking class, what really changes and what doesn’t. I mean- one whole year! What would have asked our future self about MB? What wouldn’t you believe? Sorry, I ramble on again. I just figure anyone who wants to be in it might say something to that effect (let’s leave out IRL things like moving though; don’t want to make this stalker city).

This is from a friend of mine: “The world is in danger. Arceus is angry, the mortals will face his wrath. A group of brave mortals are entrusted with a quest, they must retrieve a whisker from the three headed houndoom named Cerberus, they must slay the multi-headed Gyrados named Hydra, they must defeat Medusa and her three strong pokemon, they must retrieve the Heart Scale from the queen of Dark type pokemon in an underground dimension, they must receive a Mystic Water from the King of the Sea, a Kyogre named Poseidon, retrieve the golden fleece of the shiny Flaaffy, etc. Will they make it? Or will Arceus destroy the world out of wrath?”

OK, I’ve worked off a little of my anger, and I like the plot you outlined. I just have one suggestion. Instead of making Kyogre King of the Sea, why not use the officially named (in a movie) Prince of the Sea, Manaphy?

Yay! Okay, here they are. They’re long (which I’m proud of.):

      Name: Lily Perinocles
      Age: 12
      Gender: Female
Family: Two rich parents, one snobbish older brother (must kill him off somehow), one younger brother.
Description: Lily is about average height for her age at 5’1”. She makes herself seem smaller, though, by scrunching herself up and speaking very softly. She has beautiful black hair about to her shoulders that she keeps in front of her face at all times. The last time she let someone see her dark blue eyes, he broke her heart…
Lily’s constant outfit is a cream dress that has a purple bow around the waist. She has arm-length, white gloves that she wears for fancy occasions. Her shoes are white flats, and she does not like to wear tights. When she must, though, she has a nice pair of black knee-high socks she wears.
Personality: Lily is a quiet spoken girl. She hardly says anything, and seems to exist purely to make her parents look good. She shuns friends, so at school she’s considered and outcast. She doesn’t care, though. The less attention she gets the better.
However, when she does contests, Lily has a sort of quiet dignity. Her pokemon are so in tune with her and her actions, she hardly has to move. If she doesn’t give any instructions, her pokemon just pick a strategy and go with it. She trains them whenever she can get a chance
History: Lily is the middle child and only daughter of Frieda and Robert Perinocles, two pokemon Masters. Frieda is Ghost-type coordinator and Robert is a Fighting-type trainer. Both of them shun Normal type pokemon, and have given Lily many chances to do the same. She’s never really accepted the serenity of Ghost-types or the power of Fighting-types.
When a small runty Zigzagoon crawled into her room at night, she did the natural thing: hid it in her closet, nursed it back to health, and named it Jessie. She announced her new pokemon at dinner one night, causing Robert to smash a priceless champagne glass. She was cast out of her home to sleep in the Pokemon Center. Lily sometimes returns for meals when she cannot get enough money from battling.
One morning, Lily awoke to find Jessie had evolved into Lioone. That was when she realized she was going to be a Normal-type trainer. She soon caught a Smeargle, whom she named Edgar, and a Tauros, whom she named Zen.
She was lying awake at night when she heard a strange voice tell her to get out of the pokemon center and run. She obeyed, and later learned that the Galactic commanders who were apparently looking for her had raided the pokemon center. She is living on the run now.
      Pokemon:
      Lioone-Jessie
      ~Female
      ~Brave nature
      ~Pickup
Jessie crawled in Lily’s room one night as a scrawny and hungry Zigzagoon. Fearing her parents, Lily his Jessie and nursed her back to health. Trainer and pokemon have an inseparable bond, as Jessie thinks of Lily as her mom. Jessie is still a bit frightened of other pokemon, but gets along well

      Smeargle-Edgar
      ~Male
      ~Quirky nature
      ~Technician
Edgar is an eccentric Smeargle. He prefers to write poetry instead of draw. As a result, his paintbrush has turned from green to black, and he has learned to write-but not speak-English. Lily was attracted to him because he asked what her name was. When she told him, he wrote a poem about lilies, then asked to join her team.

      Tauros-Zen
      ~Male
      ~Relaxed nature
      ~Intimidate
Zen is a very laid-back Tauros. He was kicked out of his herd for being so docile, and followed Lily for a little bit, attracted by her gentle beauty. Finally, she took pity on him and made him a part of her team. He is willing to work, but has a bit of trouble battling. Lily is considering entering contests with him.
      Other:

      Name: Nathanial Perinocles
      Age: 16
      Gender: Male
Family: Two rich parents, two snotty younger siblings
Description: Nathanial is obnoxiously tall for his age at 6’4”. He looks down upon everyone with an upturned nose and an almost permanent sneer. His eyes are blue like Lily’s, only they’re lighter and colder and behind thing black glasses. He has oily brown hair that falls just below his ears.
Nathanial always wears a beautifully crafted black suit that fits him perfectly. It consists of a black waistcoat, a black jacket with gold cuffs, and black trousers. His shoes are also black, and are always shining.
Personality: Nathanial is the very definition of a snob. He believes himself to be higher than anyone, and being the eldest, he rubs it into Lily and James’ faces whenever possible. His pokemon are also snobs, and always step down on other pokemon.
Underneath that upstart attitude, however, lies a smart boy who always does what he’s told. Nathanial pays lots and lots of attention to his pokemon, and they love him very much. He doesn’t battle with them, but is a semi-professional Pokemon photographer.
History: Nathanial is the eldest of Frieda and Robert Perinocles. He owns both ghost- and fighting-type pokemon, to balance his parent’s tempers. He also has a Bellossom who is his favorite.
He got his first pokemon, a Gastly and Tyroge, as presents for his 7th birthday. They have since evolved, and are very good at holding poses for Nathanial to photograph. His Bellossom he found as an Oddish when it was digging up the garden. Instead of punishing it, he kept it and had it evolve into Bellossom.
When Lily announced she had a Zigzagoon, he went into shock for a few days. Then he realized that he was also kind of breaking his parent’s “rules” by having a Bellossom. After some debate, he decided to run off and find Lily. He left a note that he was going to try and beat the Gym leaders, and wouldn’t be home for a while.
      Pokemon:
      Gengar-Nightmare
      ~Female
      ~Quiet nature
      ~Levitate
Nightmare was given to him as a Gastly for his birthday. She is very subtle in the way she attacks. Her favorite thing to do is melt into the shadows and surprise the pokemon into running. She also likes to use this to surprise Nathanial into laughing, because she believes he’s too stiff.

      Hitmontop-Jet
      ~Male
      ~Hasty nature
      ~Technician
Jet is another pokemon received as a gift from Nathanial’s parents. He is unruly one, who always fidgets when Nathanial’s trying to take a picture. However, when he can hold still, Jet is a good model. He is also a rather good battler, but tends to just rush in without thinking. This can get him into trouble. One of Jet’s favorite things to do is to bounce a ball on his spinning feet and tail for as long as possible.

      Bellossom-Fleur
      ~Female
      ~Docile
      ~ Chlorophyll
As an Oddish, Fleur was digging up the Perinocles’ garden when Nathanial came across her. Instead of just chasing her off the garden, he saw potential in her style of movement. He kept her and had her evolve into Bellossom. She is Nathanial’s best model, holding poses for a long time. She is also his most treasured pokemon, as she is somewhat rare.
      Other:

      Name: James Perinocles
      Age: 6
      Gender: Male
Family: One nice older sister, one mean older-er brother
Description: James is like Nathanial, only smaller and cuter. He still has a little bit of baby fat, and a cute button nose. Like the rest of his siblings, he has blue eyes. His are the same shade as the sky. He has blond hair that is down to his ears, and frames his cute face. What’s most interesting is he’s a dwarf. He will never get taller than about three and a half feet.
Whenever her can, he wears a plain colored shirt with pants or jeans. He always wears his blue and black sneakers, though, whether he is fancy or plain. He also likes to wear mismatched socks, and doesn’t care how many times Nathanial reprimands him for it.
Personality: James is very open and trusting. He hasn’t really been outside the Perinocles’ mansion grounds, but has explored all over inside. As a result, he knows very little about the outside world.
History: James received his very first pokemon, a male Pichu named Sparky at the tender age of five. He always carries Sparky with him everywhere, even if he gets shocked. Sparky was bred especially for James, and had only hatched a few days before his birthday. They are both pretty new to the outside world.
Recently, James has been going outside more and more. He has found a place deep inside the forest where one tree splits into two close to the ground. It’s his current favorite place to escape from life, and he goes there often.
One day he accidentally did a wrong turn and got lost. He was soon jumped on by a Lioone, who barked and licked him all over. Lily was behind the Lioone, and said Jessie had sensed he was lost. James whined that he wanted to come with Lily, and that his parents were “meanies.” Lily told him to tell one of the maids, then go back to his tree.
      Pokemon:
      Pichu-Sparky
      ~Male
      ~Gentle nature
      ~Static
Sparky is James’ first and only pokemon. He is relatively young, being only a year old, and has not yet mastered his electricity. He often accidentally shocks James, but he doesn’t mind. The two are like peas in a pod: too small to be taken seriously, but loud all the same. Sparky doesn’t seem to want to evolve that much, although he does wish he could stop shocking James (and himself).

Name: Roxxy *eRrOr LaSt NaMe NoT fOuNd*
      Age: 15
      Gender: Female
Family: None that she can remember
Description: Roxxy seems a bit like Lily in appearance. They both have black hair, but Roxxy’s is kept more ragged, and a bit shorter. It’s also behind her ears or loose, and never in front of her face. Roxxy wants the whole world to know how kick-ass she is by wearing bright red lip-gloss, mascara, and always having a mischievous glint in her grey eyes.
Her favorite and therefore constant outfit is a black t-shirt with either a funny or twisted saying on it, depending on her mood, really torn jeans that are so washed out they look grey, and bright red high tops. Roxxy also have thick black spiky bracelets around her right wrist. She doesn’t do “fancy”.
Personality: Roxxy is very “I don’t give a f*** what you care” attitude. That being said, she does as much as possible to set herself apart from the crowd. Everyone is wearing black now? Fine, she’ll make do with hot pink. Everyone likes pop? She’ll tap into the school’s PA system and blast Metallica or AC/DC over at full volume. And not get caught. She’s a ninja.
Really though, she craves real friends. No one likes her because she stands out, and what she really wants is someone like her, who understands her. It seems she has a tragic past, but keeps that locked in her heart. Sometimes she’ll get this sad look and kind of spiral downwards for a few days, then gets right back up. Most of the time, she a fun-loving, bouncy girl.
History: If she has any history, she either doesn’t remember or doesn’t want to remember. Her memory begins in a foster home when she was 7. She remembers faintly breaking a few things before being sent to boarding school, where she now resides.
Every student gets a starter pokemon. They’re usually something fluffy: Igglybuff, Whismur, Skitty, and all sorts of pink fluff balls like that. She nearly gagged when the only one leftover was a male Ralts, but took him anyways and named him Guardian.
When he evolved into Kirlia, and then Gallade, Roxxy began to trust him a little more and do more battles. After all who wouldn’t want a sexy-looking pokemon to protect you?
Roxxy eventually caught a few other pokemon, including an ornery shiny Zangoose, whom she named Kirza. They share pretty much the same personalities, so they fight a lot. But they actually like each other a lot.
      Pokemon:
      Gallade-Guardian
      ~Male
      ~Serious nature
      ~Steadfast
Guardian is Roxxy’s personal favorite and school starter. At first, she didn’t like him that much because he looked like a sissy. When he evolved into a Kirlia, Roxxy heard a Dawn Stone would make him evolve into something really awesome. She traded a month’s worth of English homework for one, and found it was worth it. Now she has an awesome, kick-ass, sexy bodyguard for a pokemon. <3

      Cloyster-Zerker
      ~Male
      ~Curious nature
      ~Skill Link
Cloyster was almost dinner as a Shellder. Mistaken for an oyster, he was buttered and served to Roxxy. Taking pity on the poor little clam, Roxxy caught him and taught him to surf. She obtained a Water Stone by…less than legal methods to evolve him. He’s not that great at attacks, but can to a nasty Ice Spike when needed.

      Miltank-Bossie
      ~Female
      ~Sassy nature
      ~Scrappy
If anything can break stereotypes, Bossie is the one. In fact, she’ll break just about anything-fences, barn walls, brick. You name it, Bossie will turn it into rubble and rebar faster than you can say “No, not there!” It was this very spunk that was going to get her the boot from the school’s farm and that attracted Roxxy to her. Roxxy is the only one who can even touch Bossie without getting kicked, run over, or gored.

      Shiny Zangoose-Kirza
      ~Female
      ~Naughty nature
      ~Immunity
Kirza was scavenging the schools garbage when she got shot by one of the school’s less than adequate hunters. She limped around for a few days before being spotted by Roxxy. Roxxy had to give her a tranquilizer before even approaching. The bullet was removed, but she’s never walked the same. Her pride had also been damaged, and Kirza is less willing to fight.

After seeing the Race to the South Pole exhibit at the museum of natural history yesterday, I have the idea to write an account of a Steampunk Muse Academy expedition to the Antarctic in 1911.

The expedition members would be based on MBers, filling necessary roles. (The experienced, detail-oriented commander, the veteran adventurers, the salty sailors, the scientists, the official artists and photographers, the mechanics for the brass-plated snow tractors, and the rich groupies tagging along in the name of Adventure a la Apsley Cherry-Garrard.)

    Some thoughts:

Do they go by dirigible or conventional ship? I’d hate to waste the sailing experience so many MBers have by not letting their characters be sailors skillfully weaving through the ice pack and steering through storms, and it would be truer to history. But a dirigible would be more fun and more recognizably Steampunk, as well as having a basis in fact in that Roald Amundsen later flew one to the North Pole. I’m also not sure that one could hold all of the necessary supplies.

    • Enceladus says:

Well, you could do both, a sea based expedition and a dirigible based one. They’d be able to communicate (probably telegraph) and would help one another out, the dirigible with directions for the ship, and the ship with more supplies for the dirigible crew, and also some companionship

Could I be one of the scientists? (If I was the artist, I’d probably end up drawing an abstract picture of the ice, instead of anything useful. And Jadestone is an amazing photographer.)

KaiYves (travelig astronomer Sorceress), Piggy (traveling apothecary/teashop/Sorcerer), THF (Artisan with a very detailed background), and BookGirl (Wanton) have character designs and a description. They are done on my math flashcards. Coming up: Groundhog, Alice, Purple Panda, and… some tweaking on Sudo. There are a lot of characters who don’t have really anything but a name and racce yet, so bear with me.

Possible plot twist-(with some creative license involved) Cairine befriends a shy and lonely viking named Fagan. He turns out to love dragons as well, and actually knows where Hiccup is hiding.

Cast list, as of know, like I just said over on the fanfic thread(by the way, can you guys move anything to do with my stuff over here? I check both):

Warriors: Avalon Neko (WitchNeko), Serafina Aderai (also WitchNeko), Xerix Tomera (ZVX), Beat Rokir (Beatlesrockr), Terr Aeiou (TMFA)
Healers: Armadda Brnc (Armada), Sudo Brnc (SudoRandom), Agi Gshrr (Agrrfishi), Luna Thlv (Luna the Lovely), Midni Fldlr (Midnight Fiddler)
Industrialists: Pan Fan (Purple Panda), Parilus Canix (POSOC), Alis James (Alice)

Gypsies [need a new name]: Sihlahbuhb (Sequoia), Swahn (MissSwann), Beahvo (Beavo), Ihbseeaehf (IBCF)
Wantons: Fireh Hemlocke (Fire and Hemlocke), Kendall Byuk (BookGirl), Ebeth Alan (Ebeth), [open space for more, including the girl from Pyyj’s story]

As you can see, this paleo pulled out some really old people, such as Pan and Beat (those were actual nicknames for them), Adeia, and Syllabub. Serafina was a character of Avalon’s on the original BA who I just really wanted to use. I try to keep up with names, but these are the ones I remember, so yeah. ^^” Are half the people listed still even active?? Hahaha…. (oh dear I am 3/4 years old, so old I can’t remember which) Now I wonder how many people recognize all the names.

Also, Ver Ling is in her own comic, along with Sudo, Avalon, Beat (who I love dearly just for the fireworks), Xerix, Armadda, and Zinc! To represent the love square/pentagon. I’ll design the character (likes Avalon, acts naturally jealous and previously dated Renier/Zinc) to complete the comic, but he’ll have no name… I need a boy or a girl willing to become a boy to fill in this part!

Right now the focus is on creating more characters, but I’m slipping into more art… fics will be less numerous… scanning something… two doodles… the comic is all at once…. see yall.

I have one… well, sort of a background question. In the story where Pyyj was hanged, you mentioned that a rogue alliance (of Ebeth, Kendall and Fireh) had tried to defend him (even though their alliances were unstable) and that they tried rather hard. Kendall obviously protected him, although she has issues with sorcerers and I doubt she’d make an exception for someone obviously so dangerous. In fact, most of the rogues seem to be for Pyyj, probably because he deals in information. Or against the Industrialists, even though they’re basically free agents. *insinuates conspiracy* Even if there’s no conspiracy, the formation of the alliance and their decision to work for Piggy (or the other way around) would be worth writing about, right?

            Sorry I’m so late!!

I think… Ebeth is pretty high up is rankings, and if there was a government for the Wantons she’d be up there. Kendall was her subordinate (or henchman, hee hee) and got a pretty strong alliance with Fireh, leading to their alliance. Fireh and Kendall really do whatever Ebeth says because most of the time it’s reasonable and they respect her. Kendall doesn’t really see Pyyj as a Sorcerer because he uses very little magic; in fact, when I’m writing characters I feel the urge to group him with the Wantons or Industrialists. But he hasn’t really given up the Sorcerity (Kendall has, see the scar on her collarbone) so he’s still technically a Sorcerer. He just barely acts like it.
Ebeth and Pyyj are allies, yeah, but Pyyj is a good one to have and Ebeth saw it smart to try and defend his capture as best she could because she saw a high probability of Pyyj breaking out of confinement. In the… underbelly, middlebelly, topbelly, generally the belly, Pyyj is very, very good to have as an associate.
Pyyj deals with anyone. He’s generally on his own side. (Four/five sides: triangle, not triangle, the Academia, Wantons, and Pyyj.) He has more than information, although that’s what a lot seek him out for. He’s like…. a high school gossip queen who spends all her time in the library and sells drugs. See?
Conspiracy? Ehhhh…. mayyyybeee. (It would have mostly to do with the GAPAs, of course.) (Yes, they do exist here in this world.)

Also, I might change a few girls into boys. Because it’s horrifically unbalanced. I’m thinking Midni and Luna right now…?

    Age: 29

Dress: Leggings and turtlenecks in cold weather or t-shirts in warm, or the uniform of whatever group she’s with. Always needs to have on a watch and practical footwear. Favors vests and fingerless gloves.

History: Before the current dark times, was a promising underwater archeologist and explorer. She spent some time as a crewmember at the underwater scientific station Sea Base Alpha (EPCOT reference) and became a Lieutenant in the NOAA Corps. (http:// en. wikipedia.org /wiki/National_Oceanic_and_Atmospheric_Administration_Commissioned_ Corps ) When the war began, she was doing research in Antarctica, and the fighting meant that she had to stay longer than expected. By the time she was evacuated on the last cargo plane out of McMurdo, things had already gone badly for those fighting against the Confederation. She joined up with the resisters, and her knowledge of diving and submarines has proved useful.

Personality: For the most part, Kai is kind and intensely focused, but otherwise sane. However, she sometimes claims to hear the voice of an entity called “Roger” in her mind, giving advice and otherwise aiding her. (Think Sym and Titus in the novel The White Darkness) Whether this is a mental disorder brought on by the stress of fighting the Confederation or actual spiritual possession is unknown.

ATTENTION RAINBOW*STORM: HERE IS THE INFORMATION YOU REQUESTED ABOUT MY NASA/MARVEL FAN-FIC A WHILE BACK!

I apologize for not getting around to writing this long summary sooner, I was very busy with my internship and my classes.

It’s a typical day in the Marvel Universe—Magneto’s threatening humankind, Dr. Octopus is holding the mayor of New York hostage, and HYDRA’s conspiring to unleash utter chaos… but never mind all of that, you’ve got a rocket engine to test, three technical bugs to work out, and some visiting brass to impress!

Welcome to the world of Teresa von Braun—welcome to the world of Into the Cosmos!

As Teresa’s surname and mechanical aptitude make clear, she’s got “rocket fuel in her genes” as the granddaughter of the famous and infamous German-born rocketeer Wernher von Braun. Although born as her grandfather’s Apollo program was winding down, aerospace always held an attraction for Teresa, and when the first space shuttle launched a few weeks after her tenth birthday, her destiny as an engineer was fixed—or at least that was how it seemed.

But it was another aspect of Teresa’s genes that almost stopped her from pursing that path—as a teenager, she raced in to save a child from a falling museum display and unexpectedly discovered her mutant power of superhuman speed. Although her parents were accepting of her powers—it was her interest in Punk rock and her habit of dying her hair green that disturbed them– they sent Teresa to Xavier’s Institute to receive proper training.

As a member of the “Junior X-Men” team known as the New Mutants, Teresa spent the mid 1980s developing her talents in both engineering and high-speed heroics, learning to combine them to make lightning-fast repairs to damaged vehicles and structures. But she maintained her interest in aerospace, as evidenced by her choice of codename: X-1, after the airplane that had carried Chuck Yeager through the sound barrier. She planned to graduate to the full-fledged team until the Space Shuttle Challenger accident convinced her of the limitations of full-time superheroes and the need for engineers to prevent accidents in the first place by designing safer vehicles.

Inspired by the round-the-world flight of the Voyager aircraft, Teresa joined the experimental airplane design company Scaled Composites after her graduation from Xavier’s, and spent over a decade in Mojave, working on their various projects as she pursued her doctorate. The culmination of these efforts was SpaceShipOne—the first privately-designed-and-operated vehicle to carry humans into space. But a few months before that success, a shuttle accident would once again change the course of Teresa’s life.

Following the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia and the subsequent announcement that new deep-space vehicles would be developed to replace the space shuttle, Teresa traded dry heat for humidity and applied for a job at Alabama’s Marshall Space Flight Center. She quickly formed friendships with her coworkers, and two fellow engineers in particular—the kindhearted Francine Dalmo and the ever-grumpy Joel Jacobson– would become her allies as she faced her wildest adventures since leaving Xavier’s.

Those adventures can best be summarized year-by-year. (I haven’t been writing the series this long, this is just when the stories are set.)

2005-06: “A Mutant at Marshall”—Teresa adapts to life in Huntsville, and weathers a hurricane, anti-mutant prejudice, and the redefinition of the term “planet”.

2007: “Missing!”—Teresa is contacted by her old friends at Scaled and asked to help find their missing ally, adventurer Steve Fossett. When even her powers prove little help in the search, she tries to get assistance from other heroes but is rudely rebuffed.

2008: “Happy Anniversary”—The villainous Darkwind steals a powered armor suit with wind-generation abilities from SHEILD and attempts to ruin NASA’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Appointed an “Official Superhuman Troubleshooter” to deal with the threat, Teresa manages to defeat Darkwind and save the life of the Administrator, but receives unexpected fame as a result of coming out of “retirement”.

2009: “Looking Forward, Looking Back”—As a presidentially-appointed committee studies the future direction of the space program, Teresa and her friends investigate a 50-year-old mystery. Who was Perigee, a mysterious gravity-controlling heroine active in the days of the Mercury Program? The answer leads Teresa to a new respect for the Mercury 13, a group of female astronaut trainees denied the chance to fly.

2010: “ReInventions”—The cancellation of the Constellation Program shocks Teresa and her co-workers, but a phone call from a secretive informant warning of a plan to destroy a space shuttle in-flight is a cause for even greater worry. Investigation leads to danger for Teresa and Francine, but after a narrow escape from agents of the insidious Norman Osborn, the engineers manage to rescue their informant and save the shuttle and crew.

2011: “With Past as Prologue”—Teresa didn’t want very much—just the chance to see the final space shuttle mission launch successfully while serving as tour guide to Tony Stark and his family. (Another writer in our community has an OC, Karrie Gabriel-Stark, who is married to Tony, and they have an adopted Asgardian daughter.) But this being comics, it didn’t quite work out that way. A group of cybernetically-enhanced villains had the bright idea of trying to kidnap the crew on a day three superheroes were in the area, with predictable results: a beat-down, a successful launch, and a truly unforgettable summer vacation team-up.
