By popular request, here’s an antidote to the Rants and Complaints thread: a place to talk about things you’re happy about. We could all use a little good news.
Patience, Please
This site is under reconstruction and will look strange for a while. We regret the inconvenience.
It’s a snow day today! Hooray! Si we’ve got a long weekend
Yes! I got first post! My first first post!
I’m almost done my homework!! Happiness!!!
I’m going to a “ball” in February! Which means I get to buy a nice long dress and (hopefully) new shoes! *squee*
Lucky! I can’t wait for a dance at my school. I love getting dressed up for some reason…
That sounds fun. My sister’s going to a masquerade ball tomorrow.
School is over for the week, and I’m going to a concert tonight!
I got a 100% in a class where that never happens. I usually get B+’s there, because it’s really hard. I’m extremely happy about that.
I’ve convinced a friend to come on MuseBlog.
It’s Friday! And I’m getting a gecko!
And I’ve finally come to MuseBlog!
That’s always a good thing! Welcome!!
Are you, by any chance, Enceladus’ friend?

Yes, I am
What kind of gecko?
Welcome!
A leopard gecko.
Thanks!
I’m going to Paris tomorrow, which has been a lifelong dream of mine. Yay!
Have fun!!!! Are you going to all the normal tourist spots (L’arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, etc) or are you going to spend more time and explore? By the way, if you are going to the Louvre, there are street entrances, I know one is on Rue Rivoli.
I think we’re mostly doing touristy stuff, but I’m not sure.
Are you going to eat a lot of cheese, croissants, and french food in general?
I thank you for not saying french toast or french fries. *gives choklit*
Are you going to go to the Eiffel Tower? And the Louvre? And Notre Dame Cathedral?
I went to two of the above three (Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame)–we only had one “free” day when we were there, and it was more of an afternoon than a day. We started at Notre Dame, and then were allowed to go wherever we wanted the rest of the day–with our choices basically being Louvre, Eiffel Tower, or shopping. There wasn’t really enough time to fully experience the Louvre, so my sis, mom, one of the other kids in choir, and I all went to the Eiffel Tower. We walked, all th way from Notre Dame, because the Underground Station we needed to get closer was under construction.
‘Twas great fun. You can’t take the stairs all the way up, but you can take the stairs to the second level, and then the elevator the rest of the way…..I was determined that I had to actually take the stairs as much of the way as possible.
I’m pretty sure we’re going to all three. It’s a French immersion trip, which should be difficult but fun.
Ooh. With which program?
-A
It was a school trip. We have this this thing called intersession the first week after break, which is where people do fun classes on campus or off-campus (language learning or community service) trips.
If you’re staying at one of the hotels where they serve le petit déjeuner, they’ll probably serve croissant, baguette, and hot chocolate or coffee. It’s extraordinarily filling and very yummy!
*dies of envy* I might, might, *crosses fingers* get to go to France (and Italy) sometime in the next two years for school. *hopes* Have fun!
I have a girlfriend now. I’ve been dating her since December.
congrats!

My sisters not home and that is good news. She is person who disbeliefs in the power of pies and museolgy in general!
congrats!
I got 102% on the Spanish test I’ve been dreading all week, and the Geometry test I’ve been dreading all week was frightfully easy! And I discovered that I have about 20 K of my NaNo left in me to write, which is fun!
We had much snow yesterday and didn’t have school then or today!

GIVE ME NINTENDO. NAO. XD
Just kidding, you can keep it, but Grady… you’re an extraordinarily lucky person, you know that? Congrats. ^_^
Hmmm, good news for me?
….I’m almost done with my biology homework? If I actually work on it, that is.
I am; I am. All things considered, I am.
Sometimes I don’t feel like it, though.

I can usually think of more things that make me happy too. Same thing goes for things I have/don’t have.
I hope.
Haha, my laptop has character. Actually, it’s the family’s laptop, but no-one else ever wants to use it. Every now and then, the bulb dies so the screen goes black. Also, on the original keyboard, the D key and down arrow were missing, and the rubber thing under the down arrow, and also most of the letters were worn of the keys, so some of them were written on again with sharpie, except then some of those wore off again, and also the Dvorak keys were written on in pencil, but now we have a different keyboard on it, but it’s a bit more metallic, except for the f10 key, which is the old color. (Whew!) Also, the keyboard is very puffy around the spacebar due to a wire thingy.
My laptop has a lot of character.
I am indeed impressed.

16 (Grady)- Hurrah for the N64! You need Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in your life now. And the GC and Wii Fire Emblems, for the Wii, naturally.

Oh, I already got it. Came with the freeness. It’s always been my favourite video game ever.
Convince me and I might get Fire Emblems… Video games cost money I don’t have.

6&7-I helped Enceladus aforementioned friend. I believe that “Artemis the Huntress” is her.

I get to see a friend of mine tomorrow! She’s graduated from the college I attend, but is coming to visit.
I’m happy about this thread. And the fact that I’m eating ice cream and peppermint licorice tea. And we had a snow day yesterday! And I have a warm hat. And lots of green triangles on the Common App. And I’m almost done crocheting a scarf for my brother. And I’m starting sentences with and.
Artemis (7): My brother would be so jealous of your gecko–he’s been lobbying for one for years. What kind are you getting?
speller (8): Wow, have a great time!
oxlin (9): Congratulations!
Nighthawk (11): *cheers* We didn’t have school yesterday because of snow, too. It’s so pretty!
gradster (16): You’re the best. I like your exclamation points.
oxlin (21): Yay for visiting friends!
41. And you, Purple Panda!

I’m almost done with my Ireland portfolio! It’s taken me over 6 hrs so far, and is at least 20 pages long in a small font (though it includes pictures and newspaper articles).
I feel like I know more about it than I ever wanted too, butI’m proud of my little plagiaristic* monster! And my sister will lend me her new Septimus Heap bookif I every finish thiswhen I’m done with this and biology. I love the series, the covers are fun and the characters are so cute.*I just found out that that’s a word. Yay me!
Ooh, ooh, is it Syren? Syren’s really good. I got it for Christmukah this year. ^_^
My family is getting an Ipod Touch today!
The family? Not one person in particular? Interesting. How’s that going to work?
-A
I finished my Galaxyrise painting and it looks great!
I went to a hot tub party last night, and we jumped out of the hot tub and rolled around in the snow! It wasn’t even that cold!
I don’t have that much homework!!!
And I probably won’t tomorrow either!!!
Good news:
I could get my big projects done at the last minute by not sleeping all weekend!
I got accepted for a role in the play “Alice in Wonderland!”
My GPA is rising!
I showed my science teacher a old copy of of wonderful Muse and she said she might get a subscription! And then my best friend grabbed it and started to read it! I get the feeling that he was liking it before I ripped it out his grasp and started to read oh epic Muse and awesome proportions! Yah Muse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In order to diffuse my rant, I’m posting here. I got the only 100% out of my science teacher’s three classes, and I only got a B on the test I thought I failed.
I’m in a regular science class, but I still feel good about my good grades.
Tomorrow’s already Thursday!
And now it’s Friday.
I have an appointment to see Percy Jackson (The Lightning Thief) when it comes out here, and I’m bringing a flashlight and the book with me so I can check it detail by detail.
Let us know how it matches up!
Awesomeful!!!!!
I’m hoping to get a big group of friends together for it because there are a bunch of us who want to see it and that way we can all watch it together…although I would bring my book, I don’t think I will because I think I’ll be disappointed if I do. A lot of the movie will be pretty different.
I’m going to an observatory tonight!
Lots of good things have happened recently…let’s see-
-Finished my midterm exams
-Can now shelve non-fiction books without tipping (I work at a library, and tipping is how the supervisors check the pages work)
-I have a huge stack of books waiting to be read, and a long weekend
-I passed the twenty-page mark on a novel that I have been trying to write forever.
-I get to stay home alone tonight and watch movies instead of going to a 50th birthday party
Yeah, life’s pretty good.
-1st semester is over!
-I aced my classes!
-No more enduring my science teacher! (I love science, but my teacher’s a jerk and, really, it’s a wonder she passed science, let alone teaches it.)
-I’m taking Latin next semester!
-My friend has the same lunch period as me next semester!
-The aforementioned friend is happy about having the same lunch period!
-We had a two-hour delay to start school last Wednesday because of a possible snowstorm and there wasn’t even any snow!
-I’m in Honors English and Honors World History next semester!
-Unless I get sick during finals, I won’t have to go to school next Friday!
-Until finals are over, I get to come home at noon!
-I had IQ testing the day before yesterday, and I the person testing me said my scores were super high, and she was testing me on an adult age range!
-She was also impressed by my ability to explain what the PET in PET scan stood for!
Wow. All of my good news had to do with school.
I just saw this post, and I’ve got to comment because I absolutely love Latin! Will it be your first time taking it? I’m in my second year taking Latin and not very good but it’s really, really fun. Definitely one of my favorite classes…plus I have the most amazing teacher, which is probably why I love the class so much.
Oh, you do? Cool! Yeah, it will be my first time taking it, but I always wanted to learn! I want to be a scientist, and I know learning Latin will help. And the language just fascinates me. I’m glad you like your class, and I’m almost certain I’ll like mine too. Hooray for both of us!
My genius wonderful computer technician neighbor took a look at my poor beloved laptop that fell off the table and had its poor wonderful hard drive physically damaged and crashed a day later and he said that the main damage was in my perfect horrible lovely NaNo. But then he took his genius amazing Mac and hooked it up to my poor beloved laptop and did some amazing computer technician things and ever last scrap of data that was on my hard drive is SAFE and backed up in some thick dinosaur thing that I will be able to plug into my poor wonderful laptop once it gets back from the company in, say, a month and everything will be back to normal. Because my laptop is SAFE and GOOD.
*collapses with joy*
Yay! I’m so glad!
*claps*
No school tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No school tomorrow, is all I can say.
No school…
WOOT WOOT! *does happy dance*
I got my first ever first post!!!! *dances*
Bye everyone!
And I’m going to go play my trombone instead of bothering the GAPAs with my large number of posts that I’ve been posting for an hour or more and clogging up the recent comments bar with! Actually, the second-to-last comment on the bar is a post I’ve made on the six-word story thread half an hour ago or so
Yay! MLK day! No school!
Life is good.
Correct.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a 42nd post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
42. I got nine hours of sleep. It feels good. Somehow I’m more tired, but it feels good.
43. I don’t have midterms today! I have midterm. Or, rather, I have a band class that Miskavage calls a midterm.
44. I have a watch and a ring.
-A
Nothing is happening in school; no homework and I have good grades. (already confirmed)
Life is awesome.
37- *hugs* Somehow, all the Mbers seem to be super-intelligent. We’re just the best
Yay! Stuck at home in a blizzard!
AW, lucky! We had a rainstorm yesterday and the police closed of the roads waaaaaaaay high up from where I lived, so I had to walk quite a bit to get home.
I just found out that I already did the science homework assigned today!
Salvete! To day was my first day taking Latin, and it was great! We learned some words and phrases, and some basic grammar rules. It was so much fun! Pies on me!

I’m going to get to see lots of math teamers tomorrow at these regional all-star team try-outs. And band has been canceled, so I don’t have a class until 8:45!
My laptop hath returned! And I’m posting from it! Hurrah!
MySims cam yesterday! It’s really awesome!
1. I had double French today!
2. L and W are both doing French next semester! I wasn’t surprised when they said, but it’s still good!
3. The English in-class thing on Thursday might not be as bad as I think. The thought of writing 600 words in A SINGLE PERIOD still makes me want to go watch the Star Trek movie with J in a dark hole, but the actual task looks a bit more do-able. We have to write a narrative using stimulus material, and I usually spend half an hour sitting at my desk staring at the paper, then have an idea, then write furiously but don’t finish and get a C. But hopefully I’ll do better than that.
4. Traffic was insane this morning so lots of people were late to school, not just me because I never manage to catch the earlier bus.
5. I’ve moved up on the Who’s Posted How Much!
My Muse-ry Loves Company stuff came today!
We hope you enjoy it, Ducky! And thanks for helping to support MuseBlog.
Wow, this thread is dead. Oh well.
Please excuse the looong ramble below….
Today I got a very excellent piano book, called Sketches in Color. It has seven pieces in it, and they’re all named after colors – Purple, Shades of Blue, Black and White, Bright Orange, Grey, Pink, and Crimson. Purple, Grey, and Bright Orange are my favorites. Especially Grey – it’s based on a twelve-tone series, and the tempo marking is “Slow, without expression”, and the whole thing is Pianissimo or Pianisissimo (sp? Actually, is that a real word?). It sounds exactly like foggy rain.
I like Shades of Blue as well, but its title doesn’t fit, except for a small phrase that’s very periwinkle.
Crimson’s not my favorite as far as sound, but it’s so much fun to play – everything’s staccato and its in 7/8 .
As to be expected, Pink was quite annoying. It was marked “Sentimental”.
But anyway, I really like the book (all the pieces were written by Robert Starer), and I’m oddly excited about it. And now I will stop rambling.
I remember that book. I think I played “Black and White” and “Crimson”, but I can’t recall exactly. Did I play “Gray”? Hm…
I shouldn’t have forgotten this thread!
Okay, I said most of this on the Random Thread, but today…
1) …is Friday!
2) My grade won the school Lip Synch competition.
3) I found out my space shuttle posters are still up, even after a week.
4) I talked about the posters and the mission with a nice old guy on the street.
5) The library had a new book about famous inventors from history with some cool comic-booky illustrations, and there was a section on Nikola Tesla, which was cool even though I already knew all of the info because, you know, he’s Tesla. There was also a section on Sergei Korolev, where I learned that as a kid, he swam across a freezing river just to get a look at airplanes in a nearby military base. (An obsessive aviation nerd after my own heart)
On friday I proved Crammer’s (probably the wrong name) equation (it involves matrices and finding solutions to systems of linear equations) and it made me HAPPY!!!! (because deriving/proving formulas makes me really, really happy and a little hyper, especially when the rest of my class is taking a quiz that I took the day before and am pretty confident I did well on, but they look and sound as if they feel they are all failing, which many of them probably are….)
I found the whole of Season 1 of Star Trek: The Original Series online! Megavideo, I love you. Live long and prosper. \V/
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I’m happy, happy, happy! I don’t know why. I just am. *hums* *skips in a circle*
Good news: My band won a bronze medal at the MICCA competition today
I think my band teacher was going to kill himself if if we got a merit of participation again like he did six years ago.
Series 6 of Doctor Who is airing here (and I think in NZ too) on Saturday. Only a week’s delay instead of three weeks like last year!
EPCOT is rumored to be getting their first new World Showcase pavillion in more than 20 years- Brazil!
Whoa. No one has posted on this thread in nearly two years.
But I have some really good news: Last night I told one of my friends about cutting myself.
It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but I already feel better. She told me that I had better find alternatives or she will confiscate all sharp objects in the house, which was a little belligerent but that’s how she protects people. Which sort of made me realize how much she cared about me. She also wants me to try to get a therapist but I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet, but I am thinking about it. For now she’s told me that I can talk to her if I get into that frame of mind, and that’s really what I feel like I need in order to stop for good, just someone to listen.
I love my friends. And I love you guys.
