WHERE WE LEFT OFF:
blahblahblah plane blahblah chests personalized to each of us with things we’ve wanted or liked or can use in them blahblahblah going to Scotland because someone decided throwing a knife at a world map to determine where we were going was a great idea blahblahblah tilt-compensating floor blahblahblah more students
AND ON THAT NOTE.
Unfortunately, these new rocket things don’t actually work as far as I can tell, but now I can actually do the best cosplay ever during summer vacation. Regretfully, I place them back in my chest, and return the dagger to my hand instead. “Hmmm…since when have we needed weapons?”
[re 184.1.2: doesn’t mean they actually work, at least. Mira’s just doing a “YES NOW I CAN COSPLAY AND NOT WORRY ABOUT HAVING TO MAKE REALISTIC ROCKET BOOTS” dance. The more useful item, by far, is the knives: but, eh, they’ve been weaponless for everything so far.
She’s cool with that.]
((Just remember, we’re not leaving MA forever, and in fact, anybody who isn’t on the plane can RP whatever they want going on there. Just consider this an early spring break.))
((Would like to join? This sounds fun.))
[Oh my god, Zinc~! 8D YES. YOU MUST JOIN.]
((*feels valued* Okay! I just tend to fall behind on these RPGs.))
((Can I join this too?))
[firehhhhhh~ You’re awesome enough to join! Please do!]
((I joined on the previous thread but RD was left behind. He magically reappeared on the plane.
I do that in real life, too.))
((May I join?))
((6- of course))
I fall out of a random small enclosed space suddenly. “Oh, hey guys… does this make me a stowaway or something?” I say sleepily, rubbing at my eyes. “Where are we going again?”
Um.
“Why are all of you staring at me?”
“Wow!’ I think. “I’ve been here less than a day, and I’m already on a plane heading to Scotland!” Then I say outloud “How long will it take to get to Scotland?”
“On a Chad built supersonic jet…” I say, thinking, “Aproximately- Whoa, is that Scotland up ahead?!”
Before we get to Scotland, I hurry over to my chest and pull open the creaking lid. Inside lay four throwing knives, a copy of The House of the Seven Gables , and a quill pen, parchment, and dark purple ink.
The plane suddenly dips down.
“I’m beginning to get an ominous feeling about this!” I yell at Adeia. There’s no real reason, to yell, as the plane has smoothed out its flight, but my fears of flying are suddenly getting quite a bit stronger.
“Relax! That was a mistake!”
I sit down on the floor, lean against my trunk, and open The House of the Seven Gables.
Truth was, that wasn’t a mistake. Something was wrong with our fuel tank, and we were losing altitude- fast. By the looks of it, we could just barely make it to land, but the margin of error was too small for my liking.
I didn’t want to scare my friends though. “Fasten your seat belts,” I announced. “We will be landing… Soon.” I tried to keep the fear out of my voice, but did I succed? I hope so…
Are we landing or crash-landing? And what’s that loud flashing red button right next to the fuel gauge? And why-”
“Ok, Ok, we’re crash-landing” Adeia shouts.
“Oh… Cool. So do we get parachutes or just hang to ’til the plane explodes on impact? I don’ t know about you, but I’m outta here”
I grab a parachute from the rack, strap it on, and say, “See you guys in Scotland, I’m not risking staying in this plane.”
With that I open the hatch and jump out, saying “How do you work this thing?!”
“Nothing ever seems to go smoothly for us…” I muse, grabbing a parachute. I was really looking forward to enjoying the flight, too.
“We’re crahing……great……” I say. I grab a parachute and yell “Bye!’ before jumping out of the plane.
“I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” I scream at Adeia as I grab a parachute and jump out.
I’m already falling when I realize I’m still holding The House of the Seven Gables.
I, having avoided being mentioned in conversation for so long, grab a parachute and jump out of the plane.
((Sorry I’ve been away for so long! By the way,I’m a Lasley.))
I’m falling past everyone when I realize that I should have pulled the string by now. Hurriedly, I yank the cord and the parachute inflates, and tangles in Koko A’s feet.
The House of Seven Gables falls on my head.
“CAKE!!!”
((Sorry,I never could get the hang of italics.))
(Can I join?)
(Also, how many parachutes are there?)
((Of course, come and join. Chad would pack as many parachutes as there are people on the plane, and a few extra, so of course there are enough. And by the way, double parantheses when saying something outside of the plot not regular, so (()), not (). ))
I pull the strap on the parachute and it opens spectacularly, gliding with ease. I find some levers on the parachute, which apparently steer, and I turn myself around to view the plane go down. Luckily, everyone appears to have gotten out, so I watch with sadness as the plane spirals to the ground, then look to the ground to pick out a landing site.
((18–Certainly! You can just pretend you were here all along, if you wish. And there’s enough parachutes for everyone.
Whatever that number is…
Also, Koko A[s], are both of you RPing, or just one? If it’s both of you, do you want to go to plural form…? ))
“GIVE ME THAT BOOK!” I shout at AL, and pull the cord of the parachute. I seem to be screaming at people quite a bit. I’d been plummeting like a rock, so I’m below her. She drops it, and I grab it as it falls after me.
“Thanks!” I add.
((It’s both of us RPing one character, as we usually do. And as for plural form, I prefer to use singular just because it’s what I’ve always done))
((Okay, just clarifying))
We seem to be floating towards land. Random people are suddenly appearing.
“Hi!” I yell to Potatospudman.
“Hello!”, I yell back to agent lightning as I pull my cord.
FWIP! Nothing happens and I hit the ground.
*Gasp* I wake up from my dream, inside a dream, inside a dream, inside a dream ((see an inception reference)) and I see Leonardo DiCaprio ((more inception????)) struggling to wake you guys up.”Good you’re awake. Help me wake up the others. They are in grave danger,” he says.
((um…. on last thread one of the GAPAs said no magic or anything…. so I’ll just pretend you’re dreaming… if this doesn’t work, ignore this post…))
I look down at Potatospudman, who seems to be unconsious.
“Hey, can you guys help me?” I ask, attempting to carry the new student.
Adeia rushes over to help me, and together we look at where we have landed.
“Did Potatospudman say something about Leonardo DiCaprio?” my sister asks, looking at me curiously.
Just then, Potatospudman wakes up and starts babbling about Inception and how we’re all in terrible danger.
((Honestly I have no idea what I’m doing here… somebody please help…))
I land gracefully on the ground next to PSM, who seems to be dreaming about dreaming. As he awakens, he mutters something about Inception, and we all gently remind him that we are living in the present era.
I looked up from my lovely garden when I heard look thumps and oofs behind me. I found my classmates all in a heap on the ground. Trotting over, watering can still in hand, I then watered a babbling one. I was about to ask, but then noticed everyone was talking about a film I hadn’t seen. This part of Scotland did not have any theatres to show films at, so I’d been a bit removed from civilization in the time I’d been here for my history project.
I decide to say “Hello, everyone! Here I am!” and see what happens next.
I collapse in a tangled bunch of parachute on the ground. After I’ve detangled myself, I see everyone else gathered around Potatospudman, who appears to be dreaming about dreaming about dreaming, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Inception. He finally wakes up, and we inform him where he is.
I happen to notice, up on a hill a little ways away, there’s a castle. It appears to be abandoned.
“Wanna explore?” I ask, grinning.
The parachute opened — finally, I was getting worried — and my descent slowed. Other people were landing, too.
I furiously try to get you guys to understand but no one listens, so I try to call in Leo but apparently hes still in a dream (( I don’t know. Im still interpreting the ending )).
I give up on this inception stuff and follow you guys to the castle(after checking my totem to make sure Im in the real world).
I look at the ground, give a thumbs-up, and mutter “it’s okay, guys! I took an indoor skydiving class once!” With that, I begin to plummet, body positioned in the proper ‘upwards’-floating position. At least I’m not dropping like a rock!
As I get closer and closer to the ground, I reach my hand and open the parachute, slowing down my descent to a slow and lazy float. “Sooooo…what are we supposed to be doing?”
I rolled as I hit the ground, detaching my parachute and landing gracefully on my feet. I see the plane crash where I had first hit the ground. Mikazuki stormed over to me. “What the cake was that?!” she screamed. “I thought you said you could fly!”
I replied as calmly as I could. “I can fly. However, the problem that caused the jet to crash was completely outside my control. No pilot can do anything if their plane suddenly has no fuel. You should be thankful we all got out alive. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go inspect the wreckage.” I calmly and coolly walked away, making my way toward the plane.
I was very pleased with what I found. All of the trunks were safe and unbroken, and most of the damage was to the front of the plane, where I would have been in the pilot’s seat. Otherwise, there was very little damage. I made a mental note to later thank Chad profusely.
((I thought we were going to a castle. Well this is kinda scattered))
[We might be.
We take our time. You new?]
((Don’t expect us to get there any time soon. We’ll end up where ever we end up going, which may or may not be a castle. It could be a forest, cave system or what have you…))
Suddenly, the jet tranforms and becomes the evil Decepticon StarScreen and he starts attacking us with machine gun arms. “Run” someone yells, then I reply “No, really!”
[…Really?
Potatospudman, we made an agreement with the GAPAs that there is to be no magic or incredibly advanced science in this RPG.
:I]
Thief of Light:
Not exactly. We GAPAs said you could do whatever you liked as long as the RPG didn’t take place on the Muse Academy campus. (We do think, however, that over-reliance on magical plot devices actually requires less imagination than figuring out nonmagical ways of doing things.)
((Same goes for characters from other books/comics/movies/tv shows, what have you. No imagination is required for that. And then the plot ends up being written into a corner, like the Alice Adventure. So Potatospudman, please drop all the inception and transformers stuff. (And I do believe it is StarScream, if my brothers have taught me anything.)))
I landed on my knees , realizing that most evrybody was already onb the ground. Well, it’s not like I knew not to pull the parachute seconds after I jumped! It’s not like I’d ever skydived before! I checked myself for broken bones, which there were none. Good.
Sorry my nephew wanted me to post that.
(( Remember the (( ))!!!! ))
(( that was actually a vital part to the story! XD JK. my bad I was just in a rush.
Now back to the story.))
Now that we all landed safely, I make a mental note to sign us all up for sky-diving classes, and head off to wherever the next commenter wants us to go.
((Remember, you are actually a character in the story. There are no commenters. You speak as if you are part of the story, a limited first (or third if you want) person narrator. Pretend you are writing a story.))
((Okay, I think I’m confused, but has Thief of Light gone by any other name? I have the idea en’s AvalonGirl/WitchNeko/whatever, but I’m not sure…?))
“Well,” I said slowly, answering the asked question, “There are a few castles nearby, and a tiny little town… but I don’t really go outside of my allocated space so I don’t really know. I guess I’ll tag along.” Shrugging, I button my coat tighter and shift in my boots. “Does anybody have a map?”
[I was all those people.
All of them.]
((
Dangit! Can I keep the Avalon Neko name?
Also, what am I supposed to call you in shorthand? ToL??))
Most people say Thief, but that would probably work, too, unless she doesn’t like it.
[gfhhcf;dsawls;dfgtl;g
Call. Me. Thief. HOW HARD IS IT]
[[WELL EXCUSE ME FOR NOT TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR CRAZY-RAPID NAME CHANGES. *HUFF, PUFF*]]
“Well, besides the world map that has a knife hole and a few chunks of hair embedded in it, we are mapless and oh so lost.” I say.
“So let’s make like Musers and start walking in a random direction to see where it gets us!” Says TOL, always the adventurer.
Following her advice, we all start walking in a random direction with as much of our gear as we can carry, which happens to be toward an ominous-looking forest.
“IDEA!” I shout. “Wait here.” I ran back to the remains of the plane. I was able to get my things from my trunk and shove them into my super light back pack that I invented. I also was able to take the GPS device from out of the dash board. I ran back to the group. ” Viola! Map!” I announced with a flourish. “See? We should go here,” I directed. ” We just need to follow the directions.”
We stepped farther into the woods. The screen blinked. Signal Lost. We hurriedly turned around to find our way back out, to perhaps a more circuitous route. Upon doing so, we found nothing but an endless stretch of woods. It was as if the forest had engulfed us.
We. were. lost. Cake.
“Yay. We’re lost. Well, it beats another plane crash,” I say. “Does anyone else have a map?” No one does. “Well then, we’ll just have to find are way out of this forest ourselfs!”
Relizing its almost night ((wow, time flies)) I propose we make a fire. I search through my backpack for matches and can’t find any. After 3 tiring and stressful minutes, I finally make a fire with a magnifieing glass, the fire starter available.
((Question – how do you set a fire, at night with a magnifying glass – which you need bright, hot, sun for? Just wondering))
I think he said it was almost night.
((Still, you need pretty intense sun to do that. A setting sun wouldn’t provide enough energy to do that. Not to mention the fact that we are in a dark, densely packed forest…))
((I’m a boy scout and boy scouts are ninjas so I can do anything!!!))
“I. Don’t. Like. DARK PLACES.” I muttered, eyes darting around as Adeia and PSM argued quietly over fire starting at night.
“I like them,” Treebird whispered in my ear. I flailed for a second, brain trying to decide whether I should hit her or not cause that was creepy, dangit, and I. Don’t. Like. DARK PLACES!
“Eah! Don’t do that!!” I hissed, jerking the shoulder her hand was resting on away from her and quickly brushing it off. She giggled, but moved a few centimeters away.
“What? You scaaa~red?”
“Yes! I am. Have you not been paying attention to what I just said a few paragraphs ago?”
“No.”
(A few meters away, KA muttered something about metagaming and the fourth wall but it was all rather incomprehensible.)
[[…I’m correct in saying Treebird is a girl, right? *feels terrible with all her identity-identifying issues cropping up around her*
Also, PSM, I realize you’re pretty new and all but… a few, nitpicky things?
a: We all notice grammar like hawks here on the ‘blog. Do your best, although occasional typo is okay (I’m prone to these, like forgetting words and stuff. I always try to use spellcheck before I submit posts cause I’m such a scatterbrain.)
b: When not in narrative, enclose all typing in either brackets, double parentheses, or double brackets. It’s convenient and easier to read, like we’re whispering under tables, hee.
c: Try to keep fantasy and sci-fi references to a very, very low minimum. Shout-outs here and there that don’t effect the plot are acceptable in moderation, and a fun little thing to spot if it’s only every so often~
d: Have you taken the House Quiz?
e: Lastly, it takes a while to get the feel of MuseBlog and the etiquette here so don’t feel I’m yelling at you. I cringe every time I remember the November of 2007 and how I acted… it wasn’t entirely pleasant. I’m 13 too and so are a bunch of others here (Rainbow*Storm, Thief of Light [younger, actually], and I think SudoRandom), so there’s no using your age as an excuse. Everyone adjusts at different speeds; just follow along and do your best! Remeber, we’re all– /shot/
*trying to be nice but form; is it working?*]]
((41: Just becuase you said we watch grammar like hawks, I have to say this: Firm, not form.))
After stumbling around in the dark for an hour or so to no avail, I finally make the suggestion to set up camp for the night.
“Great” someone mutters “How could this get any worse”
Then it started to rain.
“WHY!? Why must someone always jinx it! Is it too much to ask to keep your mouth shut and smile through it?”
I take a tarp out of my pack and string it under a tree and we all huddle under it, trying to get some sleep and wait out the storm.
((Told you I had copious typos. Too scatter-brained for hands to work properly.))
((Also, “because” not “becuase.” :3 ))
As it is raining I say “Hey, at least its not thunderstorming.”
“No! Don’t say that! You jinxed use!” says KA.
Suddenly it stops raining.
It starts hailing.
“Great,” says KA.
“I’m sorry. I think that was my fault,” I reply.
“Gah. Thanks PSM. Now we are lost, in the dark, wet, and getting bruised. Fun times. We need to get solid cover. I might have something in my bag.” I rummage through my bag, finding a portable heater, a head lamp, and what I was looking for. With a triumphant grin I pulled my little invention out. At first it looks like a normal umbrella, but when you click a button, it expands out into a large, solid, plastic, tent. Perfect! I had built this awhile ago, from a blueprint I found lying around a workshop.
Rain. Oh joy. Covering my head, I run into a tent someone just rigged. “Hi! I’m Radiant_Darkness!” I said, figuring that they might not want a stranger in their tent.
As everyone scrambles to get under cover (myself included), a look around as best I can through the hail to see anywhere we could go to get out of the storm. It was to no avail though, so I scramble into a tent to wait out the storm. It was a long, noisy night, where none of us got much sleep. However, eventually morning came and we went outside to find it… still hailing.
My covered worked quite well. Night came and went, though morning brought only more hail… In the distance I saw a outline that looked so familiar, yet… After awhile, I was finally able to make out an outline in a clearing ahead- A castle! I judged the distance- I think I could make it. “Stay here guys! I’m going to see if there is anyone home!” I directed.
I ran through the pelting hail, dodging it as best I could. I was but a yard away from the castle gate when I was knocked down. A large piece of hail had struck me squarely between the eyes. The world quickly went to black.
In the morning it was still hailing.
“Well, at least it’s not sunny?” I tried. I looked outside.
There was no sun to be seen.
“Where is the justice in that?!” I said, indignant.
As the morning progressed, Adeia spotted a castle a ways away. She ran towards it, and eventually she went out of my line of vision. Half an hour passed and still she didn’t return.
It was still hailing. “Is there a sun dance?” I asked. ‘As in, the oppisite of a rain dance?” I considered making it up as I went along, but I didn’t. I would just make a complete fool of myself. “If not, I wish there was.”
(41: Yes, Tree is a girl. A usually optimistic and annoying girl.)
I wonder where Adeia went as I peer out from the tent, careful not to get hit by the hail. There was a castle in the distance, but it did not look inviting, and I wonder what inspired her to go after it. I also wonder if I wonder too much.
I sigh, then pull out a flashlight and blanket.
“I’m going to find Adeia” I announce to whoever listens. “Tracking her shouldn’t be too hard in all this mud, and I do have a light. All I need is some help to carry a tarp or something over our heads to block the hail. Now who’s with me?!”
I watch the people in the tent, pleading them for help.
“I’ll come.” I say. “Do we actually have a tarp, though?”
After a bit of rooting around, we find that we do indeed have a tarp–it was probably supposed to be used to cover the bottom of the tent, but, well, it was too late for that. The tent had held up surprisingly well, considering; I just hoped that the tarp did the same.
(( Can I join this too? ))
((Of course! ))
(( Yay! Thanks! What’s going on? ))
(( Yes, I know. Again.
Name: Pie Girl
Hair: Wavy black with faded purple and blue streaks
Height: 5′1
Age: 11
Personality: Very quirky. Quotes books and FanFictions randomly.))
((Start at post 169 of the MA thread and read this thread))
I shrugged and waved as the search party leaves the tarp-tent, settling into the space left behind. “I’ll stay here, thanks,” I said. “In case she comes back.”
KA looked back, fiddling with the strap of his bag. “Suit yourself. Just don’t wreck my tarp.”
“I won’t!” I chirped. “Is anyone else staying with me while I tempt fate and try not to wreck this tarp?”
My small little search party heads out in search. We set off at a good pace toward the castle, following as best we can the rapidly disappearing footprints of Adeia. As expected, they head almost directly toward the castle, but zigzagging as though she were dodging something. In barely any time we reach the gate of the castle. There is still no sign of Adeia, but a quick inspection of the ground reveals a body-shaped imprint roughly her size, and drag marks leading straight through the gate.
“Um… Should we go back and get backup or head in?” I say.
((I hope you don’t mind I got you captured, Adeia. I was thinking at first that people with french accents would chuck cows at us from the roof, but then I thought… No.))
We set off into the murky light of dim morning, which filtered through the numerous trees sheltering above us.
The group was arguing loudly over where we should go first. I lost track of the conversation and wandered away. Soon, I was lost.
“Cake!” I muttered. “When do I ever get a break?”
According to the laws of inevitability (or something like that, anyway), I tripped over a tree trunk and landed flat on my face, being pelted with hailstones.
I wanted to say something about how this could not be any worse, but I stopped myself.
((Should Adeia and I meet up? That’s kind of where I’m going with this.))
((To KA – I don’t really care what happens, seeing as I knocked myself unconscious force myself to focus on my homework for the time being…. but that’s not working.
To AL – Sure!! Perhaps you should get captured too… ?))
EARLIER IN MA
” Hey, where is everybody?” I asked the janitor. ” I seemed to zone out.” I blinked.
” Oh, they all went to Scotland.”
” How do you know that?”
He muttered something about always knowing the plot, of always eat fresh pie.
” Can I go?”
He nodded. ” As long as you take this.” He hands me a heavy packet.
” Wha-”
” Minor papers, legal stuff, and a bag of M&M’S.
IN THE PRESENT
In the heavy hailstorm, I barely see a tarp in the distance. i heard the sound of hail bouncing off of it.
” Yep, it’s real.” I mutter to myself. I run over as fast as I can, a slow speed greatly improved by these handy ZigTechs. The hailstorm gets worse.
” HEY! IS THERE ANYONE IN THERE???” I yell at the tarp, now in front of me. That may sound weird, but somebody could be changing, and I’m just a (not-so) innocent 11 year old girl.
( Yes, and um.. Zinc, who’s in there and how big is it? )
((… I have no idea. Whoever is not in the search party.))
“Mr?” I roused myself from my dozing. “Yeah, ‘m in here.”
“And I’m here,” I whine, propping my head up on my elbows. “I sorta wasn’t allowed to go with the search party – something about luck and cliches – but it’s so booooooooring here!”
I turned around and did a quick head count of my group, and with much dismay I noticed that AL was missing. I turn to the rest of the group.
“So, do we go in now, search for AL, or go back for backup?”
“Let’s just go in. We’ll probably be out soon enough with any luck, and we can just go back and explain what happened” Says Mikazuki.
“Sounds good”
We go up to the gate and push. Perhaps a bit unsuprisingly, it was locked tight. However, there were so many handholds in the old Victorian gate that climbing over it was easy, and we were soon on the other side of the gate. A tall, crumbling, once-grand castle looms ominously before us. A pair of double doors beckons, and we move forward. These doors swing open with a long creak when pushed, and we slowly enter the abandonded castle.
“Pies ready! Be prepared for anything. Does anyone have a light… Never mind”, I say, pulling a small handheld flashlight out of my small bag. I click it on, and the flash illuminates the room around us. Through the dim light, I see a classic old castle complete with gargoyles, stone pillars, and a cold stone floor.
“Adeia? Are you there?” I call out. My voice echoes as it bounces off the hard walls of the castle.
“Mr?â€Yeah, ‘m in here.†One voice replied
“And I’m here.I sorta wasn’t allowed to go with the search party – something about luck and cliches – but it’s so booooooooring here!†said another.
” Can I join you or something?” I replied.
” Do you have any sources of entertainment?”
” Maybe…”
” Come on in!”
I felt myself coming out of oblivion. I tried to sit up, but blood rushed to my head, forcing me to lay back down. Once recovered, I tried to get ahold of my surroundings. I had a massive headache, so I probably had a concussion. I was on a hard, cold, stone floor. I was unable to move my hands or legs much, as I was tied down with iron chains. My mouth was gagged. I heard someone out side talking to another. Should I call out? I thought. I decided not to and just sat and listened. The following conversation was very interesting…
(Let’s see what’s happened since I’ve been on…..rescue party, people at the tarp, Adeia waking up….I’ll say that I’m not the rescue party.)
“What are your sorces of entertainment?” I ask.
“A packet of stuff.”
“What sort of stuff?”
“Legal stuff and M&Ms.” I could probaly read over the legal until I got bored. It would be more interesting than sittting around waiting.
((Who is in the rescue party besides me and Mikazuki? Since Mika isn’t very active on this thread right now, would someone else like to join the group?))
As the last whispers of my echo ring across the hall, a new voice sounds, “Who enters my abode expecting to live?”
I swing my light from side to side, trying to find the source of the voice still bouncing off the walls. It was an eerie, chilling voice, neither distinctly male nor female.
“You have taken one of our group hostage, and we demand you release her at once!” I say, still trying to find en.
I do not get a response however, and the room remains silent. We start to look around, but there are so many doors and possible paths that we will most likely starve before we can find Adeia. The entire place is like a maze. Feeling utterly helpless, we trudge back out, climbing over the gate and heading back to plan what we can do to find her.
((Uh, what? That seems mildly fantasy…anyway…
Oh, joy, I have no idea what to do…. I am improvising… If only I could do that on my saxophone, I might be able to snag a solo… ))
I was being pelted by hailstones, but eventually it stopped.
“OK…” I say.
I set off towards the edge of the forest. Suddenly, I am tackled from behind and thrown to the ground. Struggling and rolling around, I can’t see my attacker, but a minute and several painful blows to the head later, the world goes black. ((No way, really!))
((I’m sorry… I’ve had to try and cut down on MB time lately. It’s really interfering with things. I’ll be more active from now on, though. Yay for less homework! ))
“Who do you think that voice was?” I ask Koko A as we trek back through the forest.
“Dunno.” He shrugs.
Once we reach the group that stayed behind, we tell them what happened. Someone seems to have joined them while we were good. She introduces herself as Pie Girl.
“We have to go back to the castle!” TOL exclaims. “I’m bored here.”
“Do you think we could use some string to navigate through the castle, like the guy in the maze with the minotaur…or…something, anyway?” I ask Koko A.
((*Good…? Oops. Gone. ))
Before I could make the voices, I felt a chill rush through my body. I looked to my arm, and found an IV. It must be a sedative! I thought through clouding vision. I made a desperate attempt to yank it out, but was unsuccessful. In a desperate flurry, I found the energy to shout out.
“HELP!” I screamed, before I slipped back into oblivion.
((I was thinking the creepy voice could have some sort of comical origin, like an old guy with a high voice and microphones through the walls, but whatever works.))
“Yeah because laying a trail to get back worked so well for people like Hansel and Gretel… Although, now that I think about it, it could work”
“Just make sure we don’t drop anything edible” says Mikazuki.
I ponder the situation for a while, pacing around the small gap in the trees where we set up camp. Try as I might, however, I cannot seem to think of a better solution than the one previously suggested. Eventually, we all just decide to gather back together and go with string to make a more prepared rescue attempt.
Finding string might be a problem. We have no rope, and even if we did it wouldn’t be long enough.
“There’s always hair,” I suggest.
The idea is quickly vetoed.
It has stopped hailing, and as I glance at the no-longer-needed tarp I get an idea. I begin to tear it into strips, using my teeth to get it started.
“What are you doing?!”
“I’m going to tie the strips together. It’ll be more sturdy than string anyway,” I reply.
“What will we do if it starts hailing again?” cries Koko A. I shush him frantically.
“As long as some people (*ahem*) don’t say anything, we should be okay.”
“It still probably won’t be long enough,” Zinc notes.
((Don’t you guys have my plastic umbrella shelter?))
((Yes. We also have a tarp, which I am currently ripping into strips. Is there any string in your P.U.S.? ))
((There should be a compartment somewhere on it filled with who knows what……))
((Will someone just find me already? I’m running out of ideas….))
“Do you have a better idea?” I retort.
“Actually, yes. We could use this.” She holds up a huge ball of string.
I blink. “Where the cake did you find that?”
“There was a…thingy…compartment…”
“Let’s go!” Thief interjects. “I’m still bored.”
We pack up the P.U.S. and head towards the castle. Once we’ve entered, Koko A ties one end of the string to the door. We set off.
((I’m going to be gone for about four days (visiting my Grandmother) so feel free to powerplay my character. ))
((Hello?))
((C’mon, people. REVIVE!))
As we walk through the castle, our cries of “Adeia!” go unanswered as they bounce off the walls and fade into oblivion. Despite the constant dissapointment, we trudge on, determined to save our friend, and eventually, as some of us were thinking of heading home, we open a small door near the back of the castle and…
((I have writers block. REVIVE!))
((I would, but I’m unconcious….))
((Can you wake up and go looking for us?))
((C’mon, people. The last time anybody other than Adeia, Koko A, AL(she can’t go on here for Lent, right?), or I posted was APRIL 8. It is now APRIL 22. That is 14 days. Two weeks. COME BACK.))
The door reveals a dark, threatening staircase. I glance down it and spy the beady red eyes of rats and WHO KNOWS WHAT. Tiptoeing, we descend the staircase with all the speed of a funeral procession. Koko A is in the lead, and as he shines a small flashlight around us, bathing the dust-covered stairs in weak light, the stair he is stepping on creaks ominously. He goes to the next stair, and I step into his footsteps. I glance at the edges of the stairs and notice that the wood is rotting and the nails are rusty.
“Uh-oh…” I manage, before the whole staircase collapses.
We fall down and down with shards of debris twirling around us, and after what seems like minutes but was probably only a second or two we land with a sickening crunch on the ground. I feel a sharp pain in my arm and feel my bone twist under me, probably breaking, and cry out.
Next to me, I hear another person cry out.
Shocked, I look over and say, “Adeia?!”
((Interrobangs… Gotta love ’em. REVIVE-COME BACK!))
((Come back…P*ease? ))
I feel the wind get knocked out of me as I slam backward onto the floor. Gasping for air, I hear Koko A exclaim, “Adeia?!” I look over and see her, coughing because of the dust that is now setting on us. Taking a deep breath–at last!–I attempt to sit up, but am quickly deterred by the sound of more boards creaking–I’m still off of the ground, apparently, even if the staircase did collapse. Not wanting to make things worse, I lay back down against the rough board.
“Is AL with you?” I ask Adeia, almost scared of the answer.
((I should be more active from now on. Unfortunately, I’ve been getting a lot of homework lately due to the standardized tests. I’ll try to get on here though.))
Slowly, trickles of reality oozed through my thick wall of unconsiousness. I opened my eyes, wincing.
“Is AL with you?” I hear Mikazuki ask nervously.
Somehow, I manage to let out a strangled “Gnuhhhhhh”.
((sorry, had to switch computers.))
“What was that?” asked Koko A.
Through blurred thoughts, I managed to think, Please! Hear me!
Every bit of my body ached. I opened my eyes, to find my vision blurry, my thoughts even more so. I heard someone calling my name. I attempted to make a response, but no sound came out.
((By the way, I’m about ten feet away. In another room? Or not? It doesn’t matter to me either way.))
I slowly became aware of a throbbing feeling in my arm. In annoyance, I yanked out an IV.
Aha! A sedative! So that’s what they were trying to do!
My thoughts slowly were becoming clearer, but I still had no energy to do anything but lie there, hoping someone would find me.
((I figure Adeia and I should probably be reunited with the group sometime soon… Then maybe I can stop lying here, which is getting boring, not to complain or anything. How shall we be found?))
(( Come back!!!))
Oh…what the heck. I got to my feet somehow, causing a slight avalanche of wood, and skidded down until I was on the damp floor.
“Adeia?” I called out again. “Koko A? AL? Treebird? R_D? Anybody? Where are you?”
I heard Koko A call softly back in return: “Adeia’s over here somewhere.”
After locating the two in the dark, I figure out that they are lying on the ground–no danger of falling, at least.
“Is everybody okay?” I ask everyone. “Do you still have that flashlight, Koko A?”
((I can’t do anything!!!!! But I want to post!!!!!))
I groaned. So they had found me. Us.
Adeia was here, too? That was good. I was glad she was safe.
Safe being a relative term…
A way-too-bright flashlight beam fell across my face. I grimaced, squeezing my eyes shut.
“Ow…”
“Sorry, AL.”
It was Koko A.
I struggled to move. I pulled an IV from my arm and y vision, movements, and thoughts began to clear. I saw the flashlight and waved my arms. I attempted to call out once more, but no words would form. What had happened to me? I found my balance and was able to get myself up and walk over to the group.
“Adeia!” they shouted, “You’re ok!”
I shook my head.
“What’s wrong, Adeia?” KA asked.
I pointed to my throat and shook my head.
“You have a sore throat?” Mikazuki guessed.
I shook my head once more. I mouthed the words out – I can’t talk!
After looks of confusion, AL put the words in my mouth for me. “Guys, Adeia can’t talk!”
(( It’s something different…. I’m just interested to see where this goes…))
((I’m confused… am I supposed to not be able to talk, too? I guess not… I’m just going to go with this. But I don’t really know what to write…))
Adeia couldn’t talk… What the cake?!?!
Mikazuki continued to theorize about what had made Adeia lose her voice, and KA helped me stagger back to the group.
((REVIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))
((This thread cannot be doomed to die so soon! At least there are a few people who still post))
I rush over Adeia and hand her a pen and paper, and motion for her to write what she knows is wrong.
They trapped me and dragged me in here , she writes, her hasty scrawl difficult to read in the dim light. I was knocked out and woke up in this room unable to talk with an IV in my arm. Also, I’m starving! I haven’t eaten for hours.
I grab a small piece of bread I had brought along from my pack and give it to her, and she gulps it down voraciously.
“Now how are we going to get out of here?” I wonder aloud.
((I can hear! You don’t have to sign to me!))
I shrugged in reply. They had a bag over my head when they dragged my down here… I think they took me down an elevator , but that’s all I remember… AL, do you remember anything else?
I glanced over Adeia’s shoulder to see what she was writing.
“I don’t know.” I said. “I was in the forest going towards the castle when someone attacked me. I didn’t see their face. I got knocked out and woke up here.” I paused, looking around. “How did you guys end up here? Are we in the castle?” Koko A nods.
((THIS THREAD CANNOT DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))
“Are you sure you didn’t catch a glimpse of their faces, or any clues?”
I’m worried. Someone is here–in this castle with us, it must be–so the only question is…where are they?
I hear a faint slither of fabric over stone somewhere off in the distance of the dreary basement.
“Nothing.” I tell Mikazuki. “I never saw them at all, but they must have been very strong.”
“What was that?” I ask nervously as we all hear a noise in the distance.
Sounded like a snake…. I wrote. But we should keep moving. I think I see a light over there. Follow me! I started my way over to it , to find a door. Correction: An unlocked door. I opened it to find a tight spiral staircase. I started up it, wondering what I would find.
We climb up the spiral staircase nervously, all on edge and listening for any sound.
((I posted something here yesterday or so. Did my internet crash at the last second, or is it stuck in spam-bin land? Oh, well, I’ll just continue))
I climbed the stairs nervously, swinging my flashlight around to face the smallest sound.
“Hey, ow! Watch the eyes!” Mika said, squinting as my flashlight shined in her face.
“Sorry” I said, facing my flashlight forward and trudging on catiously.
Eventually we come to the cave-in where we first fell in to Adeia and AL’s cell. Apparently this is the same stair case. I peer nervously down into the dimly lit cell beneath.
“So how are we going to get across?” I say.
Yay. Another problem.
I don’t know whether I’m being sarcastic or not.
“Anyone have any rope?” I ask.
I shake my head gloomily. “We left the string on the other side.”
“Cake!” I mutter. “Ok, then…” I look around. “Anyone have any ideas?”
The rocks here have a bunch of crevices and there is a bit of a ledge left from where the stairs were. I think I can climb/inch my way across. Let’s go one at a time.
I found my first handhold fairly easily, and started to move my way across. My breath caught as my foot lost its hold, but I regained my footing. Slowly but surely I found my self on the other side of the cave in. I motioned for the others to follow.
A few terrifying minutes later, we were all safely on the other side.
“What now?” asks Koko A.
“We go on, I guess.” replies Mikazuki. She picks up the string that was left here.
We continue through the castle.
((Well, this thread isn’t exactly dead anymore, but a few more people on would be much appreciated. PEOPLE READING RC BAR, JOIN THE WORLD TRAVELER RPG!!!!!!))
Still breathing hard from the haunting experience of crossing, our small group continues on. I’m not too good with heights, and having fallen down there once already doesn’t help. Luckily, we had come this way already, so the way out was fairly clear from our combined memories of coming. We were walking at a brisk pace, all wanting to be out of this creepy place as soon as possible, when a clear voice sounded from the echoes of the building.
Why have you come? And what are you doing in my abode?
“Where did that come from?” I whispered, frantically glancing from side to side as I tried to determine the source.
Why?!
I think I know the general area from where that voice is coming from. I’m going to go investigate. Wait here, I’ll be right back.
I started off towards the voice when some one grabbed my arm. It was
AL. “Where do you think you’re going? Last time I let you go off alone you got captured. I’m coming with you!”
With a nod in response, we, two sisters, ran together to find the voice.
I sigh, and run off towards them. What both of them failed to realize is that both of them ended up captured last time.
“Wait up!” I yelled, sprinting towards them. Mika followed, and our group set off in search of the noise.
We ran down a winding corridor, listening for echoes or noises that might lead us in the right direction./
“This way!” Adeia said, sounding confident. We followed her through a rusty iron door and entered a small dimly lit room.
((I still can’t talk…. ))
((Oops… I forgot ))
((s’ok))
The room was small. A few candles lit it.
I shuddered. “Everyone else heard that, right? It wasn’t just me?”
“Um… Maybe we should leave. Now.”
((REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE))
Nobody seems to like this idea much.
((My italics didn’t come through!))
((I got nothing))
((REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE))
“Leave?” Mikazuki says. “Too boring.” The others nod.
The room is small, but it is full of bookshelves, which are sagging under the weight of hundreds of books. Koko A runs his finger along the shelf.
“No dust. Someone’s been living here.”
A shiver runs down my spine.
Adeia picks up a book off of a shelf and opens it. I can see words in an unfamiliar language.
“Um…” I start to say. “I don’t think…”
A sudden voice echoes.
“What are you doing here?”
Adeia nervously slams the book shut and puts it back on its shelf.
((Can’t get the italics right… sorry about that. I’m just putting it in quotes for now…))
“Who are you?”
I speak up.
“I’m AL. These are my friends, Adeia, Koko A, Mikazuki…” I continue to name all the people in our party. ((I’m not sure who’s active right now, so…)) “We come from Muse Academy. Which is… not in Scotland. We’re very sorry about… coming here. We came to Scotland and… accidentily came here. We’re… very sorry. We’ll leave if you want us to?” I add hopefully. This place is seriously creeping me out.
“No. Come.”
“Er…where?”
“COME.”
((Oh, dear, I didn’t put too much fantasy into this? I’m going with what’s been done and hoping there’s a plausible explanation somewhere at the end. Sound OK?))
((I’m ok with anything that will get the plot moving again, because I cannot think of anything good.))
The man leads us through a small door on the other side of the room that we hadn’t noticed before because it was so dusty from lack of use, though everything else in the room lacked dust. It opens into a small hallway that winds down deep into the castle. I share a nervous glance with AL, then plunge through the door, following the man. He leads us through the hallway and turns into a small room. He turns the light on and we see a room filled with people of all kinds, women, men, and small children.
“We are the lost warriors of Scotland.” the man who lednus says gravely.
((Anything exciting is good! I have writer’s block. Sorry about this))
“Why are you lost?” I inquire, quietly.
“The name of the,” he begins, and is cut short by–
((Stuck. Completely, totally stuck.))
((Maybe we should just get out of here and head back to MA?))
((I’m reluctant to do that, but if it’s the only thing to do…))
-a huge rumbling noise.
“RUN!”
Something had triggered a collapse. Dust and rubble began to fall from the ceiling. Everyone bolted for the door.
“Wait!” I shouted, turning around. The lost warriors of Scotland stood still, unmoving. “Aren’t you all coming, too?”
The man who had led us stared at me solemnly. “We cannot.”
“But why not? You’ll die!”
A boulder crashed to the ground a foot away from where I was. Adeia grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out the door. We darted up crumbling staircases and through shaking corridors, disaster at our heels.
((Does this work?))
((I’m giving up the being mute thing))
“THIS WAY! WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE THE WHOLE BUILDING’S GOING TO COLLAPSE!” I tuck and roll under a collapsing beam pulling AL with me. The rumbling stopped. I turned to find my friends trapped. I looked at AL.
“Cake.” We said in unison.
I gasped, and then looked at Adeia. “Hey, your voice is back.”
My sister smirked. “Yeah, perfect timing. Now how to get them out of there. KA! MIKAZUKI! CAN YOU HEAR ME? ANYONE?”
A faint call came from behind the rubble, but neither of us could make out what it said.
“What was that?”
“No idea.”
We began to dig through the rubble. Progress was slow and we began to lose hope. Fifteen minutes later, my hands were scraped up, we were tired, and there was no sign from anyone still trapped inside. I looked up at Adeia.
“It’s hopeless.” she said.
“No.” I replied fiercly. “We have to keep trying.”
I was buried in rubble. I tried to move but couldn’t. I couldn’t remember how I had got here…and then I remembered the rumbling, the collapse, how I had tried to run but then tripped, and a wooden post had fallen on top of me… That must be what’s keeping me here, I reasoned.
“Adeia! AL!! Koko A!!!” I screamed, thrashing slightly to little effect.
I heard Mika screaming from somwhere within the rubble. I had been lucky, and only a few rocks had fallen on me from the stone ceiling. I would have bruises later, but for now started hauling large chunks of wood and rock off the pile, digging for Mika or anyone else I could save.
I heard voices from inside, and began pushing away the rubble with renewed vigor. “Come on!”
Adeia joined me. I pushed away a rock and found Koko A. He appeared mostly unharmed, but was digging, himself.
“Mika’s trapped.” We joined him, following the muffled screaming sounds.
“We have to be careful!” I scolded. “One wrong move and the whole thing will collapse!” I rummage through my bag, to pull out a toy mouse. “This is wired to find heat signatures. It will show up on this screen. That way, we will know which way to dig.” I explained, letting the mouse go.
We wait anxiously for a signal to appear on the screen.
“Nothing.” Adeia mutters. “We should have found something by now…
Another ten seconds pass.
“Wait!” A blip appears on her device.
I start to dig hurriedly toward where the device says the heat is.
“Wait! Be careful, the whole thing could collapse!” Adeia said.
Reluctantly, I slowed down enough to tell where the weak points in the structure. Eventually, with the help of AL and Adeia, we pulled away a large rock to reveal Mika’s limp form.
((I hope I didn’t PP you to much, Mika. Ignore this post if you think I did.))
Freed, I sit up far too quickly, shaking a bit.
“Thank you thank you thank you…” I have to lay against the rubble again as the room begins black out. Once I can see again, I jump to my feet and hug Adeia, AL, and KA.
“What happened?” I ask. “Why did the ceiling collapse? I thought that man was the person who kidnapped you guys…but maybe not.”
During the cave-ins and collapses, I had almost forgotten about the Lost Warriors of Scotland. “What was that all about?” I wondered. “Was there an earthquake?”
Somehow, I knew that the castle hadn’t collapsed from seismic activities.
“Now what?” wondered KA. “Do we go back to where we set up camp?”
“We could go back and wait. Or – personally, I’d like to explore some more, seeing as we have no means of going home at this point. I might be able to send a message home, telling them to send another jet, but that’s only a maybe. Our other option is trying to find civilization and getting the cake out of this seemingly cursed place. Those are our four options. Thoughts?”
“I personally won’t be able to rest until I figure out what happened to those people inside.” I state, gesturing toward the ruins of the castle.
((Hello everyone. Would it be alright if I joined this thread (judging by the repeated calls of “REVIVE”, I suspect that joining would be good)? I’ve read the thread through and sorted myself – I’m in Spector, if that makes any difference.))
((If you are committed… ))
((Of course you can join! I have a two suggestions for joining:
a) you have been here all along and are with me, Adeia, KA, and Mikazuki (that’s who’s active right now)
b) you were back where we set up camp, and have come to see where we were, if we were okay, ect.
If you have something else in mind, feel free to use it-that’s fine. Anyway, I think we could really use a new character to spice up the plot.))
((Okay – thanks a bunch, guys!))
I shook my wet hair out of my face as I hiked through the woods, searching for my fellow MAers. I had found the wreck of their plane when I landed in a second craft a day after the others had left – so much for being informed. Here and there I had spotted a parachute or two, but I was still worried that someone hadn’t made it.
So I continued my search. It was about midday when I spotted something bright blue in the distance. A tarp. I sped up to find Treebird, Pie Girl, Thief, Zinc, RD, and Spud sitting underneath, looking bored.
“Guys! I found you – are you alright?” They stared at me.
“You mean other than wet and bruised from hail and crashlanding and missing four friends?” asked Thief.
“Four?”
“Yeah, KA and Mikazuki went to some castle to rescue AL and Adeia,” replied Zinc. “Hmm – you’d think they’d be back by now.”
“I’ll got look for them,” I said quickly. “This castle is up the road somewhere, yes?”
“Something like that,” replied Pie Girl. I nodded in reply and hurried away.
It was late afternoon when I reached the castle. I was about to enter when there was a loud crashing sound accompanied by yells from the left side of the building. I ran around the castle to find AL, Adeia, KA, and Mika leaning against a pile of rubble, looking exhausted.
“Ho, friends! Are you alright?” I called, running toward them.
((I hope that the PPing of the currently non-posting characters is not a problem.))
((It can get overly confusing – avoid it as much as possible))
((I generally do. Thanks!))
We finally make our way completely out of the castle, pushing aside rubble. As we lean against the fallen walls, a figure comes suddenly around the corner. En’s face is in shadow, so I’m not sure who en is…
“Kittymine!” comes the exclamation.
“Hi, Kittymine!” I try to smile–I’m so tired. “How’d you get here? We’re fine..ish, I suppose, but we’re alive and standing…”
*grumble* I, forever independent, was rather upset at the whole shananagins of the day. I’m not your typical damsel in distress, I can rescue myself, thank you very much. I’ve now manage to drag 4 other people into this, getting my own little sister captured. “I didn’t need a bloody rescue party. I could have done a bang-up job myself, thank you very much. Now you’ve gone and dragged yourselves into this,” I grumbled under my breath.
I notice something out of the corner of my eye. A shimmer. Realizing what this meant, I turned back to my friends. “Hold on a second! Kittymine, will you please tell us from whence you came?”
“Of course, I came in directly behind me,” she said matter of factly.
Expecting this answer, I questioned further, “Will you please turn around and point to exactly where you came from?”
She turned around, pointing “Yeah, right over th- wait? I came in from- what? I’m sure it was there – no – there! Adeia? What’s the point?”
Smugly smiling, I explained myself, “Exactly that. It’s a disorentation shield. See that shimmering by that bush over there? It’s a chink in the shield. Usually, the shields disorient the viewer and cause them to turn away. MA has one. However, this one works the opposite way – confusing the viewer to come in. There must be three different shields in these woods. One arround the surrounding area, which caused the plane to crash, one around the woods itself, another arround the castle. The whole thing must be a trap to lure wayward travelers in. It wouldn’t surprise me if the woods are bugged with cameras and whoever is in the middle has some artificial weather dome. All said and done, someone wants us to be trapped badly. We really should get out of here.”
“Getting out of here does sound like a good idea,” I concurred. “How, exactly? Through the chink in the shield?”
“Why would they want to trap us?” I muttered, and then said aloud, “That seems like a good idea. But how do we get through the chink, and how do we know we won’t be lured back in again?”
“I don’t know… I don’t know why, who, or what wants to trap us. I don’t know how to get out of this either. We didn’t talk about distortion shields in class.” I stopped and threw a rock at the shield, which crumbled to ash. “Yeah, we aren’t getting through that… Hmmm…” I dug through my bag and pulled out a pair of old fashioned red and blue 3-d glasses. I noticed everybody was staring at me. “What?” I said indignitly. “These aren’t just to make me look cool! They allow me to see electrical fields. I can now see the distortion shield. In addition, I can see where it is coming from. Which, unfortunately, is the very highest tower. If we are going to get out, we have to go in.”
((Sorry I haven’t posted in a while))
While Adeia was fiddling around with her glasses, I pulled a small hand generator and some spark plugs out of my pack.
“Nothing like a good, old-fashioned way to overload a system.” I say maliciously, quickly cranking the hand generator.
“Um… Are you sure this is a good idea?” AL said, glancing nervously at the sparks inside my generator.
“Why not?” I say innocently, looking at the charge bar and seeing it was full. I step up to the chink in the shield, being very careful not to touch the distortion shield.
“I’ve always wanted to say this! Charging… Clear!” With that, I bring the spark plugs down onto the chink, releasing all the charge in the generator at once, and throw myself backward onto the ground, covering my eyes. Through my hands, I see a huge flash of light and a loud bang, then silence.
When KA attacked the shield (for lack of a better word) with his generator, I followed his lead and dropped to the ground, covering my eyes. When the light and noise had cleared, I sat up.
“Any change?” I asked Adeia, who was still wearing the 3-D glasses.
((Wait… so did it work or do we still have to go into the tower? I’m guessing that we still have to go in, and KA’s thing with the spark things didn’t work…But I don’t know…))
((That was my question – whether it worked or not. That’s why I’m asking Adeia if she can still see the distortion shield with her glasses. If she can’t, the generator worked.
I’m also guessing that the lost warriors of Scotland have something to do with this whole mess.))
((I’m going to say it didn’t work…))
Finding myself on the ground after a bang and a flash, I hurriedly stood up and brushed myself off. “A little forewarning would be nice next time! And it didn’t work FYI… You would need something much bigger. Or something sonic. Like a screwdriver. Sonic screwdrivers can overload just about anything. *sigh* I wish I had one. Anyway,” I said hurriedly, snapping out of my daydreams, “The only thing that did accomplish was alert our host or hosts, whoever they may be, that we have figured out their trap. Which means they will try to stop us at all costs. However, if we have any hope of getting out, we must go straight into the belly of the beast. Allons-y!”
With my inner nerd rejoicing for an actual excuse to say that, I strode back to the castle, my friends in tow.
We followed Adeia back into the castle itself (that is, the part that was not currently a pile of rubble). After several minutes of walking through the dark, slightly forbidding castle, we came to a tightly furled spiral staircase that wound its way far above out heads to the highest tower.
‘I hope we don’t get completely trapped up there because I am not in the mood of jumping out of tower windows,’ I thought to myself as we climbed.
‘Oh, and Rapunzel had better not be up there.’
We climbed for ages, dragging along up the endless staircase. 100 steps, 200 steps. I stopped counting eventually, too exhausted to continue. My calves were protesting loudly at the exertion and I was about to suggest that we take a break when we came to a dusty landing.
We had reached the top of the tower.
“Finally!” I muttered to myself, and then looked around.
“The generator’s over there.” Adeia exclaimed. “See it?”
“Um, where?” complained Mika. “I honestly don’t know where you’re pointing.”
“What generator?” KA put in. “You mean the one I was using to power the spark plugs? Because that’s right in my hand.”
“No, the generator creating the distortion shield.”
“None of us sees anything, nor can we tell where you’re pointing.” I pointed out. “Why…”
Adeia looked harder, then pulled off the 3-D glasses. “You’re right.” she grumbled. I can’t see it anymore.”
“So there’s a distortion shield… around the distortion shield generator?” I asked. Adeia nodded.
“Oh, cake.” Kittymine said.
“So what do we do-” KA was cut short by Kittymine shushing all of us.
“Someone’s coming.”
I looked around for a place for us to hide. There was no such place. Great. There weren’t any shadows either. We all sort of crowded together against the wall as the footsteps grew louder. Something plaid came into view, which was quickly followed by the rest of it – a man wearing a kilt, complete with the bagpipes (not to mention a rifle) stood before us on the landing.
“What the -?”
The man held up his rifle. “What are you doing here?” His voice was deep and rough. “You aren’t supposed to be here.”
Everyone was silent; we shrank back against the wall. Too late, I realized that we were in the perfect position to be shot. I groaned internally.
What the cake?! Who is he? I thought, but my semi-rational reasonings soon dissolved into Oh no he’s going to shoot us,oh no he’s going to shoot us ohno ohno ohno
Out loud, I said, “We were trying to see where the distortion shield was coming from so we could get out.
That was a bad thing to say, I groaned mentally. Why am I always the one who says stupid stuff and gets us all caught?
“We know we’re not supposed to be here,” Adeia said, “but if you let us go, we’ll leave and not come back.”
I did a mental *palmface*as AL said, “We were trying to see where the distortion shield was coming from so we could get out.”
I quickly tried to cover, saying “I apologize for my sister. She is a compulsive liar, and says things with no truth behind them at all. What the cake is a distortion shield anyway? Either way, my friends and I thought this was an abandoned castle, and everyone knows abandoned castles are fun to explore. In all honesty, we saw no private property or no trespassing signs, so you can’t exactly blame me. Just leave us be and I promise you we will leave and never return.”
The Scottish soldier looked at us suspiciously. I don’t think he was buying Adeia’s cover up. Several more Scottish soldiers appeared on the steps, all pointing rifles at us. My legs were shaking like crazy and I wished that I could say something that might get us out of this mess, but all ability to say something clever appeared to have deserted in the face of danger.
The soldier suddenly beckoned to us with his rifle.
“Come. We’ll see what the general has to say about this,” he said in his rough voice. A few of the other soldiers came up the steps and grabbed us, forcing us to the middle of the group, and kept very firm grips on our arms as we were marched back down the stairs.
Going down was certainly much faster than going up, but I dreaded the end of our descent. When we got to the bottom we were escorted down corridors, through a few rooms, and finally into a small anteroom. In front of us were a pair of huge carved wooden doors. The soldier with the bagpipes, who appeared to be the leader of the group, knocked on the door and then entered. We stood in terrified silence for a few minutes and then he came out again.
“You four – the general bids you to enter.”
((Sorry about that.))
Oh no, this is all my fault. I thought.
((Argh! Curse you EWB!!!! (Evil Writer’s Block) ))
((Oh, no. I hate writer’s block.))
We were led through the door. My heart was pounding like a drum.
We entered a huge, and I mean huge, room. Wood paneling, rows of bookshelves, beautifully carved furniture, and maps. Large maps, small maps, detailed maps. It all seemed so…old. Elegant, but old. Were these really the same people who had set up all of these distortion shields?
Then the tall armchair behind the desk turned to face us, its occupant dressed in a modern army uniform, with all decorations that declared him a general. Five star, no less. With immaculate iron gray hair, a strong build, and an aura of power, he was an impressive figure. His piercing gray eyes swept over our little group.
“You may leave us, Major Kelso,” he said to the soldier still standing inside the doorway. His voice was deep and authoritative, as one might expect, but something about it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. He turned back to us.
“General Macaskill,” he said by way of introduction, pointing to his name tag. “And, if my sources are correct, you are students of Muse Academy. State your names please. Best to get the pleasantries over with so that I can move on to more…important things.” He smiled, but his grin was not at all reassuring. It was more like a shark surveying his prey.
((I keep forgetting about this thread, but it seems to have revived to the point where one person forgetting every once in a while doesn’t totally kill it. All the same, sorry))
“I’m Koko’s Apprentice, this is Adeia, Agent Lightning, Kittymine, and Mikazuki,” I said nervously, pointing at each of us in turn. Something told me that though it appeared he was unarmed and there was no one else in the room, crossing him would not be a good idea.
“How do you know we’re from MA?” AL asked, “Isn’t the school supposed to be… secret?”
“That is of no importance right now. Now, on to the important things” He made is sound like a threat, though his voice did not change. “Why are you here?”
“We already told your major! We were just wandering around and decided to explore an abandoned- what we thought was an abandoned castle.” I said, flinching under his piercing gaze.
“I see… So you had nothing to do with the recent cave-in?” He said, looking at us suspiciously.
“Erm… Well… We didn’t cause it, but, um, we were there at the time” said Adeia.
The general scowled. “There at the time? And just where might ‘there’ be?”
Out of the corner of my eyes, I scanned the group, wondering who would speak up first. Adeia seemed to have fallen silent.
“We were inside the castle.” I said. “We were looking around, and everything started shaking. We started running for the exit, and barely escaped with our lives.” Oh no, I hope I didn’t say the wrong thing, I thought desperately
I braced myself for Adeia’s ‘my-sister-is-a-compulsive-liar’ speech, but all she did was nod and say, “Several of us were trapped under the rubble.”
“Who caused it?” I ask. He remains rigid, not admitting anything.
“We are working on investigating the incident.”
“So you know nothing,” I finish. His eyes bulge.
“Don’t test your limits, young lady.” Furious, I open my mouth, but Adeia interrupts me.
“I’m sorry,” Adeia offers. “She’s just a little stressed out. You know how it is.” She shoots me a venomous look, and I shut up.
“Excuse me, General,” I began politely. He turned his piercing eyes on me. I continued.
“My friends and I now realize quite well that this castle is not deserted and that it is private property. We are sorry for the unfortunate cave in and we hope that it will soon be repaired. And as AL previously stated, we had nothing to do with the collapse. Is it not therefore reasonable that we be escorted out forthwith, never to return?”
The general raised an eyebrow.
“Very diplomatic, are you? As it happens, I am not quite finished with you. Major Kelso mentioned, before ushering you in, that when he found you at the top of the tower, one of you said that you were ‘looking for where the distortion shield was coming from.’ ”
‘Sugar.’
Cake. I think. This is all my fault. I can’t let my friends get hurt for what I caused… Think Adeia, think! How can you get your friends out of this? Not much thinking occurred, as I was struck with a sudden and very rash idea. Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, “Yes, sir. I was looking for the distortion field. I just dragged my friends along without explanation. They know nothing. If you plan to do anything to us, do it to me. I am the one you should fear. I have the knowledge you need to complete your plan. Oh yeah – have I mentioned I already figured that out? More or less anyway. But let me go, and it will unravel. Let my friends go, and I’ll give you what you need. Hurt any of them and you will regret it. Do we have a deal? I don’t make deals often, and this one won’t last long. Going, going -”
“Wait!” interrupted General Macaskill. “You propose an interesting offer. Your selflessness is admirable. I shall accept your offer. Guards! Escort the others out. Adeia! Come with me.”
I was trying to figure out what to say next when Adeia blurted out a bunch of self-sacrificing gibberish, something about a plan and the distortion shield.
And the General bought it.
I suppose for that I should be commending Adeia, but she was also getting herself captured again and I didn’t know how long her ability to ad lib would last.
It was somewhat chaotic. The traditionally dressed soldiers entered and surrounded us to escort us out of the castle while the General beckoned to Adeia. The others were yelling, at least one was trying to get through the soldiers to grab Adeia. Despite the struggling, we were escorted somewhat forcefully out of the room, through the halls, and out of the gate. We ran toward the gates as soon as we were no longer surrounded, but the soldiers had locked it and were standing in front of it with their guns drawn.
No, this is all my fault! Adeia, don’t! Feeling incredibly stupid and guilty, I watched hopelessly as Adeia walked away and we were escorted out of the castle.
“Great. Now what?” I muttered to myself as we retreated toward the shadows of the forest beside the castle. We had to get back in there to rescue Adeia and then we would likely go elsewhere in Scotland – this area appeared to be somewhat hostile.
Once we were far enough away that the guards could not see us, I turned to the others.
“Does anyone have any clue how we could get back in to help Adeia?” I asked urgently. “Hypothetically we could go around the side of the castle and slip in the back, but we would need to make sure that the soldiers don’t catch us. Plus the distortion shields may hide the castle.”
“They’re reverse distortion shields, like Adeia said,” I note. “They won’t hide the castle.” I can feel myself turning pale. What if we can’t get Adeia back? All those soldiers…
I look at Mika’s face, and I see we’re both thinking the same thing.
“Well, we can…” I trail off. “I don’t know what we can do. Let’s go somewhere where we can think.” My stomach rumbles loudly. “And eat.”
We walked back to our makeshift campsite to eat and discuss. When we got there we saw a note from the others saying, “Gone off to explore the forest, will return in time for grub. We mean dinner.”
“Glad someone is in a humorous mood,” I muttered sarcastically to myself.
“Why does she always have to go getting herself captured?” I mutter under my breath mutinously.
“So what is our first step with Adeia captured again”
I say more loudly.
“We need to find out what these people want with her and if we can bargain with them to get her back.” Kittymine says, looking up from the note on the ground.
“Do we even have anything to bargain with?” I added as an afterthought.
I looked around our campsite. We had miscellaneous items that we had taken along with us, a tent, cooking gear, sleeping gear, clothes, and a hunk of scrapmetal that used to be our plane. I doubted that any of the books and writing materials in my backpack were of any real value.
“I know what we can bargain with!” I say, pulling out my spark plugs and some gasoline.
“… Maybe not…” Kittymine says, looking nervously at the crazy look in my eye.
“Fine” I say, putting the gasoline away. “Maybe we could sneak in and rescue her like we did last time?”
“They’re bound to have her under guard this time. We would have to be careful.” AL said.
“Well, we can’t just stand here deliberating all day since it is likely that General stoneface has likely figured out that she is lying by now and may be hurting her,” I said quickly. “So I suggest we sneak in again, bringing whatever may come in handy. Like your gasoline,” I added to KA. “Anything that can create a diversion.
((I’ll be off for a week; feel free to PP me until I return.))
“Create a diversion?” I asked. “Sounds kind of risky…”
The others glared at me. I quickly became quiet, seeing as I was the reason Adeia was in trouble in the first place. “Sure.” I muttered. “A diversion sounds great.”
“Okay, then.” Kittymine announced. “Now we should have two groups: one to create the diversion, and one to go and rescue her.”
((If that last part doesn’t work, sorry; feel free to ignore it..))
I nod. “How are we going to find her, though?”
((KA–Aaand…though this is what I was trying to ask earlier, I worded it a little oddly and you may have misunderstood me–or maybe you understood me perfectly and I’m a total idiot. But are there two characters that are both KA, or just one? I’m still not sure.))
((Just one character, and right now only one of us is using that character. ONE CHARACTER… one slightly pyromaniac character.
Is there anything that made you think otherwise? If we had two seperate characters, we would most likely name the characters seperately as well.))
“I’ll be happy to create the diversion… I wonder if they have a tank of oil they use to power heating and stuff…” I say, thinking of the damage I could cause.
“We want to create a diversion, not blow up the castle!” AL said, looking weirdly at me.”
“Now where should we look for her?” Mika said.
((No…just my post, which made it sound as if I was wondering if you would be posting with plural pronouns. Yeah…I am a total idiot. XD But thanks, for putting up with my idiocy and clearing that up…))
“Just look…try the basement, again,” Kittymine replies.
I nod and turn to KA. “What if you set off an explosion in the forest, right in front of the castle? We don’t want to risk setting the castle on fire or damaging it any more, since there was already a cave-in–it’s a little unsteady, and any more damage could cause it to completely end up in ruins.”
“Will there be enough gasoline for that?” Askes AL.
(( There’s always enough gasoline ))
“I volunteer for the search committee,” I said, raising a hand. “I am not a fire-lover in any sense of the word.”
“I’ll go with you,” I say quickly. “I’m fairly noncuddly with fire myself.”
Mika and I left AL and KA to finish setting up the diversion and headed toward the castle. We moved silently though the trees until we came to the side of the castle. There were no doors, but there was a barred window, just large enough to crawl though, at the base of the wall. There was also a security camera higher up on the wall, which stuck out like a sore thumb.
“Do we have anything to knock out the camera?” I whispered to Mika.
“Shoes?” I whispered back. “Are you tall enough to reach it? I don’t think I am.” She nodded, and I took off my shoe–a heavy hiking boot–and handed it over.
I am an idiot. I really had no plan, though when do I? I looked around, seeing no guards, only the General escorting me to wherever he was taking me. Recalling what I could from a long ago self defense class, I stopped, causing the general to turn and face me. With a few well placed kicks, I knocked the General out and ran like I never had before. I found myself at a cross roads. a dead end hallway ending in a window and a stairway heading down. I chose the window.
I hefted the boot and took aim at the camera, very much aware that I only had one shot. I threw the boot.
There was a cracking sound and then a thunk as the boot dropped to the grass. The camera was now smushed against the castle wall, lens side inward. Without further ado, Mika and I ran toward the barred window. As we inspected the bars for any cracks or looseness, we heard a soft call from overhead.
I looked up at my friends to see all was going well, and decided now was the time to divert the guards. I had set up my trap earlier, and now I put it into action. I clamped my spark plugs onto a tree and watched as fire flared up, spreading quickly among the gasoline-soaked branches.
“I’ll put it out later so a forest fire won’t start” I mutter, but my attention was on other things now.
I began to yell at the top of my voice, attracting as much attention as possible by screaming anything from “FOREST FIRE!” to “HAHA! I GOT ADEIA!”, and hoping the group would know I was just trying to draw attention.
It worked quite well, and a fairly large group of guards detached from the castle and ran at me. More were running out the doors as well. When they were drawing near and there looked to be enough, I began a deadly dance. I began to dart around as fast as I could, trying to group them all as close as possible withought getting caught. They obviously weren’t the brightest bunch, and stood back to back almost immediately, confused by my tactics.
I grinned and brought the spark plugs low, and fire flared up and raced around the group in a high circle, creating a ring of fire about 3 feet wide that would hurt like the Dickens to go through. The guards started screaming and shouting what I assume was profanity in their language.
“And now water regularly and treat with care” I say, splashing more flammable oil where the fire looked weakest. With the plane wrecked, I had gone earlier to siphon the fuel tank and restock my stores, just because you never know when a bit of pyrotechnics might come in handy.
The men went up to the side of the flames but decided it too dangerous to cross. If one brave one decided to cross I had a feeling I could take on one flaming guy. Pie Kwan Doe isn’t just for show.
My task accomplished, I sat against a tree and smiled, pastries next to me and ready for action.
((Ermm… I’m with KA, right?))
Whoa. Fire.
Way too much fire.
“Do you think they’ve found Adeia?” I asked, loading up on pies and nervously eyeing the flaming trees.
((Sorry, I forgot who was with me))
((Yes.))
“Hey!” I looked up and saw Adeia leaning out of a window set about halfway up the side of the castle.
“Adeia!” I whisper-called back, unsure of whether KA and AL had the diversion put into practice yet.
“I hope so,” I say, sprinkling some more oil on the ring of fire while nervously eyeing the trapped guards, who seem confused about what to do.
“Maybe we should have had some sort of signal to tell them we completed the job…” AL said, glancing toward the castle.
“Hmmm… maybe we could still let them know!” I say, pointing toward a still mostly full container of gasoline.
I pull out a fuse and my spark plugs and hand them to Adeia.
“Want to do the honors?”
((I thought Adeia was near Kittymine and I…)) \
((Cake, I meant that to say AL but was thinking of Adeia at the time. Just pretend that says AL ))
Trying to remember how KA used them, I stare at the pyrotechnics for a moment and then…
Ignition!
((I would be more specific but I have absolutely no idea how to use spark plugs ))
You charge the generator and clamp them on to whatever you want to ignite…
Then stand back
I looked up at Adeia, trying to figure out how to get her down. Technically, she could jump and we could catch her, but that risked breaking bones for any of us. I examined the rock wall more closely. The wall that Mika and I were crouching next to, and that Adeia’s window was set in, was definitely climbable. It had plenty of hand/foot holds between the stones.
“Adeia,” I called back softly. “Do you think that you would be able to scale down the wall? The rock is not smooth and there are plenty of handholds. Mika and I can stand under you and will catch you if you should fall.”
((ack. That should be stonewall, not rock.))
A huge explosion rocked the area as I tackled a clueless AL out of the way of the blast. The noise was so loud it deafened me for a few moments and left a persistent ringing in my ears. It echoed off the castle and we could hear it growing softer even after I got some hearing back.
“I think that might tip them off we created a diversion” I say to AL, smiling.
I was unable to hear Adeia’s reply because a loud, echoing explosion split the air. I clapped my hands over my ears. When the ringing finally stopped, I glanced at Kittymine.
“I think they may have set off the diversion.”
(( ))
“Then we’d better get moving,” I replied with half a smile. “Adeia, could you restate your reply?” I called up the wall. “I’m afraid we didn’t hear it.”
“Yep.” I said. “They heard us.”
“I said I’ll do it,” Adeia called back, her face a bit pale. Mikazuki and I positioned ourselves under her as she carefully climbed out the window and began a slow and nervous descent down the wall. I held my breath.
I closed my eyes, letting my instincts be my guide. This was just like the rock wall I used to spend my summers climbing, minus the ropes and plus fire…. Quickly I went into my zone, scaling down the wall like it was nothing. When I got to the end, I jumped and tucked, rolling so that I landed on my feet. After a quick celebration, we realized no one had a plan to escape. “Now what?” I asked.
Nervous glances were my reply.
“Uh…head for the trees while the soldiers are still distracted by the pyrotechnics?” I suggested quickly. “Once under cover of trees we can walk back to where we made camp and make a move from there. And collect KA and AL on the way.”
((REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE REVIVE))
A few minutes later, three figures burst out of the flaming trees. “Adeia!” I exclaim.
“Come on. Let’s go.”
We ran like scared rabbits through the trees, not quite sure where we were going, but very very keen to put a lot of distance between ourselves and the soldiers. After ten minutes of hard running, we paused for a breather in middle of the wood.
“Okay,” I began, panting heavily, “I think we lost them. Any idea how far we are from the road?”
I took a deep breath as we rested for a moment. In the silence following Kittymine’s question as we all looked around, I heard the faint but distinct sound of a car speeding by. A bird twittered. I didn’t hear anything else. Had I imagined it? No, there it was again.
“Does anyone else hear that?” I exclaimed. “I think the road’s that way.”
“A road? I don’t remember a road…” I say. “But we’ve got nothing to lose. Come on.”
We trek towards the sounds of cars.
((I would post but have mucho writers block!))
((Same here.))
((*an hour later* Writer’s block? Pshaw.))
We soon emerged in a clearing, on the side of a long stretch of highway. A car sped by.
“I haven’t felt the sun in so long…” somebody commented. It did feel good to get out of the forest.
“So what do we do now?” I asked.
“We could hitch a ride…”
((Okay, so that wasn’t really very long. ))
“Erm…perhaps we could just ask for directions and not hitch,” I said in as strangled sort of voice. I was never one for hitching and after hearing far to many unhappy stories about people who hitched, I was not keen to join those ranks.
“Yeah, perhaps not hitch a ride,” I said. “We could ask for directions…”
We waited for a car to pass.
Discovering I still had my bag, I found my sat-phone. “Or we could just call for help?” I suggested.
I stared at the sat-phone in her had.
“They never frisked you? Wow. Great job. And calling for help sounds like a grand idea.”
“You still have your bag? I don’t think I ever got one…”
Adeia dialed the phone.
((I was inactive when we all got the bags/supplies/trunks and stuff… I think I just appeared as we were falling through midair.))
((what now? I don’t really want to use it as a deus ex machenia…))
((How about we send for help and it’s on the way, but then the people from the castle come and start chasing us? (By the way, this is off topic, but I just realized that we’ve been centering this whole thing around the castle in Scotland, and that Hogwarts is a castle in Scotland. :D) ))
(( ))
((Maybe it only looks abandoned…))
((Annnddd… REVIVE!!!!))
((I apologize…. stupid last minute summer homework))
*polite cough*
“Wait a second,” I said, holding up a finger, as a thought struck me. “If we call for help, we may just be transported back to MA. If the GAPAs hear about this, we’ll be whisked back for sure, before we have a chance to really explore Scotland. At least, I thought the plan was to explore Scotland.”
“I have no intention of leaving right now.” I say. “Who votes we keep exploring Scotland?”
Hands go up.
“Well, there’s a unanimous vote if I ever saw one,” said I as I counted our raised hands. “But we still need transport. Perhaps if we follow this road we’ll find a city and get a bus or a taxi to other parts of Scotland. I’d be glad to put all of this confusion behind us.”
“Sounds like a plan! Let’s go!” I said…. Off we went, following the road to parts unknown…
After an hour or so, I began to tire. “How long does this road go for?” I asked. “I mean, for how long does this road go?”
“None of us know, either, AL.”
“It was a rehitorical question.”
Then, up ahead, I saw a sign which said, “Cumbernauld, 1/4 mile”.
“We’re nearing civilization!” I called eagerly, pointing at the sign.
((So you’re in Scotland? I’ve been to Cumbernauld.))
((What’s it like there? *is curious*))
((Gray and boring, like a lot of postwar Britain. The movie “Gregory’s Girl” was set there about 30 years ago, and I don’t imagine it has changed much. It’s a good movie, by the way — worth renting or streaming if you can find it.))
((Ack! I forgot about this thread for a while!))
We near into Cumbernauld. It looks gray and boring to the naked eye, like some movie from the 70’s or 80’s or something. However, I notice shops are up and running with many interesting gizmos and groceries and giblets and other assorted alliterative awesomeness.
“I’m going to go, erm… Check out the local shops,” I say edgily, moving toward a spare parts store but doubling back toward a pastry shop when I near out of sight.
“Time to arm myself!” I remark to myself, an evil grin spreading across my face.
“Pastries!” Is my cry. I hurry into the shop with KA and look in the case. I take a deep breath and inhale the scent of lemon, coconut, chocolate, cream, berries…
“I’ll have a slice of chocolate pie and a triberry pie to go,” I tell the man behind the counter. Luckily for me, I have a hundred dollar bill in my left shoe for emergencies.
Luckily, I have enough change in my pocket to buy a slice of pie.
We load up on pastries, and sit outside to eat.
“Mrrpph… This is so… good….” I say.
“Wait, you’re saying you don’t stock fish pie?” I say to the vendor, astonished. “Cement? Asphalt? Canary? Cheese? You don’t offer pies in any of those kinds? What kind of pastry shop is this!?”
Kittymine comes up to me and says, “This isn’t the schoo armory! Choose a regular flavor already!”
“Fine,” I say, “I’ll take 3 chocolate pies with hard crusts and one apple pie with soft crust”
I then sit down and begin eating the apple pie while tucking the rest away for later throwing.
((I just noticed- That was supposed to be school, not schoo.))
I hope the proprietor survived our bombardment of his pastry shop. I bought a bunch of raspberry turnovers and sat outside munching them. As I looked around the gray place, I noticed what appeared to be a general store across the road. Stowing away the rest of my turnovers, I crossed the road. In the store, I bought a map of Scotland and a map of bus routes. I crossed back over to the pastry shop.
“Guys, I got some maps. Shall we make a plan?”
((Anyone have a problem with riding or horses?))
“That would be a fine idea. However, I am horrible with directions. I have no idea where we need to go… I’m going to the hardware and hobby shops to see if I can find some tools. I’ll be more help that way,” I declare, and after general consensus, I make my way to the shops.
On my way there, I get distracted by the livery. I have always loved horses and have ridden since I was small. Riding through Scotland back to MA would be a brilliant adventure….
I race back to the group to propose my idea.
“Horses? Excellent!”
I followed the others as we trooped to the livery. Frankly, I hadn’t been on horses very often, and I had only had a few lessons. But hopefully it would be enough.
((GAHHH! SO MUCH SCHOOL! WHERE DID SUMMER GO?!))
((Rats…. This seems to have died and I can’t think of anything to post. If many share that sentiment, that might be why it died.))
((Yep, that’s why I haven’t posted.))
((Me too. ))
((Yeah, I’ve run out of ideas too, frankly. Maybe we should just head back to MA and call it a thread?))
((Our students run away to sea, join the circus, travel with Roma or Bedouin… but sooner or later they always come back to Muse Academy, tired, bedraggled, hungry, maybe a little sadder and wiser, but always with stories to tell. We send them to the showers, feed them a hot meal, and then send them straight to to bed. The stories can wait for later.))
