The summer solstice (or winter if you live in the southern hemisphere, as MBers sometimes do) occurs today, June 21, at 12:16 p.m. MuseBlog time.
So, how’s it going?
The day before yesterday was cold, yesterday was hot, and today it’s overcast and might have rained.
Where’s my lovely weather?? Stupid climate change.
We finally had a real thunderstorm last night, so it’s a good start to the season. A huge limb from the neighbor’s tree just missed smashing through our roof. I didn’t see it, but I did hear it. Bit of a short storm, though, and didn’t make any hail. Oh well.
I can’t remember whether I’ve shared it, but thunderstorms seem to have a distinct effect on my psychology. When a storm’s coming, I get jittery and distracted and can’t think straight. It’s not anxiety, exactly, and not nervousness, because I love storms. The more abnormal my thinking gets, the bigger the storm is. When a storm has a lot of lightning, I often find myself staring blankly out the window for a while (up to an hour or so) without thinking. I love storms.
Is it just when you know the forecast, or can you predict them yourself automatically?
Unfortunately, it’s hot and dry here.
I can predict them with some accuracy. I’ve predicted them on week-long camping trips when no one’s looked at a weather forecast, and I’ve predicted them when the forecast isn’t calling for storms.
Predicted, or… summoned?
And as he camped on, the rain clouds dragged down the sky after him for, though he did not know it, Piggy was a storm god. All he knew was that when he gets that strange, distracted feeling, his working days were soon to be wet or he’d have an stormy holiday. All the local clouds, which were very considerate, knew was that they loved him and wanted to be near him, to cherish him and to water him, whenever he asked.
“As MBers sometimes do?”
I’m off to go shut down a few pollution-causing manufacturing/energyproducing plants.
So today I went outside and it was completely smoggy. Smelled like smoke. This usually only happens in the fall when people burn leaves.
Piggy- How is this caused? Is it because of static electricity? Hmm…
I’d think it would be related with barometric pressure, which also sparks my migraines.
Ugh. It is SO HOT today. No wait, it’s not hot, it’s humid. I know I’ve suffered worse in Jordan but the humidity is making everything sticky and nasty and I am longing for some good dry heat now. When I’m not in the basement, which is the only cool place in the house.
I think today our local temperature finally topped 80 degrees! I love weather like this, although admittedly I like it to be a bit cooler when I’m running around playing soccer.
Still, I’m definitely not complaining.
I’ve already had enough summer, thank you.I know what you mean. I’m not eager for school to start so soon, but I hate heat.
I’ve done so much already, I can’t believe summer’s only starting now. Well, here’s to a long and fun one.
Summer only began? It’s been so warm, though, and the days out of school seem like weeks.
Funny how my summer is busier than the school year. But. SUMMER~
here in Switzerland its horrible, one day it’s raining, the next its sunny. I wore a thick winter sweater yesterday it was so cold. To add to that i also have another 3 weeks of school.
The smog was from forest fires, and it’s cleared up now.
Hm, we should have a whole thread devoted to discussing weather.
