Hello there. I just thought it fair to tell you all that I’m writing a book. I’ve been working on it for several years. It’s called “Grant’s How-to’s: The Cheesy New Book for Fun-havers*.” I have compiled a large collection of how-to’s, most of which untested, for the reader’s pleasure. I just wanted to tell you all so you can buy it immediately when it comes out. Yes, I am getting it published. I don’t know when, but I will.

Mine has consisted primarily of a trip to Canada and the breaking of my leg.
I read books, & visited my family in new Jersy. Nothing exciting. I broke my leg last fall, TOPFOT.
Interesting book…
My summer consisted mostly of going to summer school (health and speech) and then going to summer camp (music), at which I ate bagels and got filmed for some documentory about the lives of musicians because the guy, Eugene, who was coaching the Mendelssohn octet which I was in was one of the subjects of the documentory so the film guy taped us rehersing. That was a very long sentance.

Well, I don’t think it would do much good seeing as the cast is hot pink anyway :). But I’m planning on getting a purple one next week, so maybe… (if I actually trust u near a broken bone, Cel, which might be a bad idea).

My summer has been like this:
Going to a flute workshop at OSU, working at Chagrin Valley Athletic Club, and now *groan* band camp.
You’re lucky, TOPFOT, when i broke my leg it was off white. And they kept it off white. I can’t speak German, which is what they speak in Austria, where I live. It was SO ugly.
By the way, Lizzie, my computer is a Mac OS X, too. That doesn’t happen to me.
Well, my computer’s knocked it off now, and it did it on other websites too.. I think that it just hates me or something.

When do people’s schools start? Mine starts the 16th of August, and I’m going to pick up my schedule tomorrow.. There was another summer camp that I wanted to go to, but no, instead I have to go to school- why does it start so bloody early?

Anyhoo, this is what’s going on right now: My memory was terrible this morning, I forgot like 5 things I was supposed to have. Fortunately my band director didn’t notice. Not many people like my band director. I am particularly miffed at not making squad leader this year in MB, but oh well. Better luck next year.
Flute is awesome. I don’t play it, though. I feel left out. ^_^
I got my schedule. The high school is way too big.
What classes are you taking? (that question refers to everyone) I am taking the usuals (english, history, math(pre-calc), science (chem 1), language (french 4)), the required classes (health, woodworking) and my electives (theatre arts one, computer programming one and two spanish immersions (storytelling and legends and childrens literature)). I won’t be taking everything right away this year though. I am going to be a sophmore. what grades are you going into?
I’m also going to be a sophomore, taking Honors English II, Advanced Algebra, Biology, Spanishes 1 and 2, and Health. Oh, and band, but I think I mentioned that while I was complaining.

Monty Python’s awesome.
I am going to have Spanish II, English I Pre-AP, Varsity Orchestra, PE-Foundations (which everyone who’s not in athletics has to take, and I am majorly not in athletics), Latin I, Geometry Pre-AP, Biology I Pre-AP, and I am going to be a freshman. And even though I’m not going to be in it, they still gave me a world history textbook (like I really want it), and no spanish one.
I’m going into 8th grade and will be taking Honors CORE (English and History combined), P.E., Science (8th grade level physics), Math (Algebra 1), and my two electives: French 2 and Advanced Band (but u all knew about that one).
We don’t get interesting electives such as drama until high school.
I start school on Sept. 6. I play the piano. I have nothing against the flute but it looks hard to play.

Lizzie- I am a fellow violinist, though you are probably better than me because I am mostly self-taught. (mostly because I took violin from grades k-2 but my parents got tired of going to the lessons with me and I went REALLY SLOWLY. Now I go at a much faster pace (when I practice that is) though I am still only on Suzuki book #1.)

I am currently on “perpetual motion in A major” though Iike to warm up with “Allegro” When I stopped the Suzuki when I was younger I was on “Go tell Aunt Rhody” I have no clue why I picked Allegro to start again on. After my parents got tired of going to lessons with me they had me take piano and I took piano until 7th grade. In eigth grade I took flute. so yes, I have taken flute. In ninth grade I didn’t play any thing and this summer I have started Violin again since I really enjoy playing violin. Whew. that took a while to type. What piece/book are you on?

I don’t play violin, but I’ve been playing piano for 7 years. I took a week-long music camp and chose violin for my instrument, but I sounded so horribly squeeky that I just went with piano. Kudos to strings players for sticking with it!
By the way, E~A, I have an Elvin-to English dictionary that is AWESOME and I use it to make up names and annoy my friends by speaking in Elvin. I love it.

hehe, yes, i’ve been coming and randomly watching since the blog first opened. dun know why i never posted.
I just realized why my computer was doing the weird thing with the tabs! I was accidentally pressing the control button as I was clicking (my wrist thingy [I forget what it’s called, but you put them in front of the keyboard to prevent your wrists from collapsing and you from getting carpal tunnel] is kind of squishy) so it was like it was a right click! Or something.
I’d like to learn piano, but 1. I don’t have time, and 2. I can’t read bass clef and whenever I try to learn I get confused.

I don’t really have any favorite movies, I would rather read. I like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the new version. I saw the old version ages ago and don’t remember it. I like the book too), The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. As for favorite books… there are too many so I’ll tell you my favorite authors. J. R. R. Tolkien, Mercedes Lackey, Madeliene L’Engle, George R. R. Martin, Sherwood Smith, Garth Nix, Phillip Pullman, Clive Barker (author of Abarat, I think that is his name) and many many more. Music I like to listen to is the LotR soundtracks (all three of them), Evanesence, the Beatles and lately I have been stealing my brothers Franz Ferdinand CD. Activities I do for school are Cross Country running and skiing, track, plays and math team.

I read Tolkien, L’Engle, Asimov, Tamora Pierce, Phillip Pulllman, Terry someone-or-another (wrote The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, The Wee Free Men and some others), Agatha Christie, Cornelia Funke, etc etc etc.
I like to listen to pretty much any folk music (mostly Pete Seeger), Beatles, Klezmatics, and most classical, although I don’ t like Mozart. I also listen to my brother’s free jazz cds.
At school, I do orchestra, robotics, and quiz bowl (trivia).

Yeah, I was reading through the Gaboomba the other day, and it’s interesting how it’s changed- at the beginning it was more like letter style, like you would write to the magazine, but then towards the end it became sort of more “forum” style.. I do kind of miss it, though. But I like the colors.

My least favorite book… usually what we read in school, it just beats the fun of reading out with a sharp stick.
I Wicked!!! Well, the musical anyway… I haven’t read the book. Come to think of it I haven’t seen the musical either, only heard the soundtrack a few hundred times… but that’s all going to change — I’m seeing the musical this September!!!!!
My least favorite book is the dreadful, biased history book where all she talks about is Native Americans and American Supremacy. It’s HORRIBLE. The lady who writes it’s name is something like Joyce Lovegood or Joy Lovejoy, or Joy Hackam! That’s the one! Joy Hackam.
Unfortunately, I can’t choose which classes I take, I’m still in 6th grade. Three more school years to go…

Yay. I survived the first week of school. And I think that I’ve only failed one English quiz, even though I read the stupid story TWICE.

Last night, I had a dream about the Muse Blog. I dreamed that this girl who’s in some of my classes, Diana, had told me that Robert was quitting being webmaster and stuff, so I booted up my computer (in the midst of a thunderstorm, too) and went to the Muse Blog and looked and it was true. And this thread only had 51 posts, I noticed. There was also something with two snakes on our back porch in my dream, but I’m not sure where they came in. Weird dream. Bad dream. And I doubt that Diana has ever even heard of Muse. I don’t know. She went to a different middle school than I did.

My summer has been very boring except for a horse camp I went to. That was fun. The rest of my time has been squandered : I’ve either been sleeping or on the Internet.
I concur that HP could be a whole lot better. First of all, J.K. Rowling pinches a great deal of names and things from mythology. A little would be okay, but I think sometimes she goes a bit far. For instance: Remus Lupin, a werewolf. Remus was one of the legendary founding brothers of Rome, and they were raised by wolves. I am willing to accept this. However, “Fenrir Greyback.” Please. Fenrir was a son of Loki, a Norse god. He was, in fact, a gigantic wolf. Greyback is a general term for wolves. This combination seems a bit too potent to be real. Bear in mind that he had this name BEFORE he was a werewolf. Please. By the way, Mr. Coontz, I would like to ask for clarification, as I don’t really understand your comment relating to me.

Meh, I’m not one of the huge Harry Potter fans. I think it’s a decent book told pretty well, though I’m not sure it merits the fame it currently has. I find the Warriors series by Erin Hunter much more entertaining, but then again I do tend to prefer animal stories, so maybe I’m wrong.

I think how JK Rowling puts in mythological names is way cool! especially for Rubeus Hagrid, who is the keeper of the gates and grounds of Hogwarts, just like Hagrid Rubeus was keeper of the gates and grounds of Mt. Olympus.
Also, “Draco” is Latin for dragon, and Malfoy means “putrid” (I think, I have to look it up.) I have a whole list! but Ron’s name was misleading. His charector’s mythological inspiration was Weasel, a chess expert who’s downfall was brought about by a rat. For three books, I suspected Scabbers was not what he seemed, but I thought he would kill Ron. Also, Sirius was a supernatural, giant dog. Also Minerva was, like, a hunting godess or somthing.
By the way, almost no one notices that Parvati is a Native Indian (from India, not America). I like milk and white chocolate. Also, even though Hermes says I talk a lot, and even though its true on Museblog, it isn’t in real life.

Just ignore that part of the form. A URL is Web address. (The letters stand for “Uniform Resource Locator.”) Most MuseBloggers don’t have one, and I don’t need that information anyway, but the blogging software supplies the form, and I’ve been afraid that rewriting the code might mess up some other part of the program that I don’t understand yet. I’ll remove the URL field as soon as I feel more comfortable with it.

ChinTsu my dear, I think this whole me-dying thing could have been the spike through the heart alone, Dismemberment is nice enough, but it’s not quite as stylish. Plus, if you dismembered me, how could you hang my rotting cadaver from a pole in the middle of a country road for all to see, as a warning to those who dare anger the manga obsessives?
By the way, I LIKE manga and anime just as much the next girl, I’m just not in love with it like you guys. I’m too busy being in love with rock and roll. I rather like Miyazaki films and I grew up watching Sailor Moon, although sadly in english. And I own my share of manga books, although I have no doubt that it’s far less extensive than Chintsu’s collection.
To top it off, I’m wearing one of those tiny pleated skirts and and a a t-shirt featuring an adorable little chibi style doom samurai girl.
But I digress.
I personally cried for Sirius, wheras for Dumbledore I just sat there in shock for a bit and then decided that maybe it needed to happen. Not that there’s anything wrong with Dumbledore, but all this time he was sort of holding Harry by the hand, and now that he’s gone Harry finally has to grow up and face things for himself. It was necessary for the movement of the book.
By the way, was that statement about the doom and the chocolate an IZ reference, or is that just me…?

I once did a post on my blog, which I’m not going to post a link to because something weird happened to it and other people swear in their feedback which I can’t control, which was called “Anime Sucks.” I had no idea people felt so strongly about this thing! Personally I think people make too big of a deal about this. Either you like it or you don’t, but don’t: a. Force other people to like it or b. Tell people what they like sucks. I know I did, but I’m trying to get over that kind of thing.

Hey, you know how in the new issue of Muse the fake fact on Bo’s fact page is “Funny Gene”? Well, I know exactly where that came from! “The Road to Mars” by Eric Idle! A VERY good book. However, I would not recommend it to immature audiences. Anyway, it’s about an android owned by 2 comedians who’s trying to find the purpose of comedy, and a “comedy gene.” In one part it refers to Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the group that revolutionized comedy and which Idle was a part of.

Did you know Douglas Adams was an unofficial Python member? Remember the part in HGtG where Ford says, “This is Zaphod Beeblebrox, Arthur, not bloody Martin Smith from Croydon!” Douglas worked with Martin Smith when he was writing the book. Apparently the poor men was plagued for years with people asking him if he was from Croydon. He wasn’t. I don’t know why this was so offensive…maybe Croydon is like a British Minnesota? How the prince keeps trying to sing and his father keeps stopping the music? well, even though it’s funny by itself, you need to see some Gene Kelly movies (best example, An American in Paris) to get the whole joke. By the way, I am in no way saying these movies are good. But people burst into song EVERY TWO SECONDS. And the dancing is even more annoying, at the end of An American In Paris, there is a 12 minute ballet. TWELVE MINUTE BALLET! And it has no plot!

Elasse-Adael, you just made the biggest mistake in the world by asking me what the Belgariad is about. I can go on about it for hours. Here I go:
The main charecter is named Garion. He was raised as a scullery boy on a large farm by his aunt Pol (the head cook) and Durnik (a smith). One day a storyteller comes to the farm, who has no apparant name but Pol, who seems to know him, calls him Old Wolf. He tells Pol somthing that really frightenes her, that somthing is missing. They take Garion (and Durnik tags along) on a quest to find this thing, which Wolf can somehow follow. There are five books in the Belgariad, the first one being Pawn on Prophocy. Anyway, they meet a lot of people on the quest, all who seem to treat Pol and Wolf with a lot of respect. Some of these people are: Silk, spy/thief (my favorite charecter), Barak (hebrew word for thunder, by the way) a giant warrior, Hettar, who can talk to horses, Princess Ce’nedra, who is a dryad (tree spirit) Mandorallen, a knight who has never been afraid in his life, Lleldorin, an AMAZING archer (the previous two are enemies of state and HATE each other) and many more. All through the quest, they are pursued by Angarak Murgoes and Grolims (sorceror priests). THey are all trying to killor capture Garion for some reason. The only clue Garion has is the white mark on his palm, which “feels” the same as Pol’s white streak in her black hair and the mark over Wolf’s heart (by the way, Eragon is a total copy of this book.) It is my favorite book in the WORLD! Read it, pleasepleaseplease, so I may spread love of the Belgariad across the world, thereby completing my task, Mwwaahhhahahahahha.
Hmmm……weak. That’s one of the worst evil laughs I’ve heard yet. You would all be lucky to have an evil laugh half as perfect as mine. Mine is so good I critique evil laughs in movies. Dr. Evil’s sucks, by the way.
