Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything

A shape of pure blackness comes out of nowhere. A gift wrapped in a red piece of paper completely in contrast to the blackness surrounding it, that seems to emanate light, comes out of the blackness and settles itself under the tree. It is about 1′ in every dimension, and it bears no distinguishing marks, and weighs exactly the same as a cardboard box of the same size, plus wrapping paper
I slip in and place a box about 15 centimeters square and five centimeters high beneath the tree. It is wrapped in blue paper that seems to change shades depending on how the light hits it. The card reads: “For someone who wishes to see beyond sight.”
I emerge from my hiding place and place a present under the tree. It is about the size of a pen, but heavier than one, and wrapped in blue paper.
No one delivers the present.
No one brings it there, no one leaves it there.
It’s just… there. One minute it wasn’t, then you look back and it is there, sheltered under a low hanging branch. It’s hardly visible, but the shiny wrapping glints suddenly in the light. Maybe it was there all along.
The wrapping is metallic and silver, with a slight iridescent sheen. It is very plain, with a scrap of paper taped to it with “For the person who should be afraid” scrawled in blue pen.
The object itself is flat – two-dimensional practically. It is a rectangle about 20 cm by 15 cm. It’s quite heavy.
Er… Normally, you’re supposed to deliver the gift anonymously, so that people can’t think, “Oh, I’m sure that person will have an interesting gift” and choose for any reason other than what the gift seems to be. It’s alright, though; we can have an exception; I just thought you should know about it.
Oops, yeah. I meant to change my name but my internet has been acting up weirdly… my clicks switched around. Sorry!
I walk into the room, quiet and unobtruisvely, yet my presence demands the attention of the others in attendance. They look upon me for a moment and sense infinite knowledge, wisdom and improbable eternity before turning away. Walking to the tree, I flourish my hand a bit. My entire body is coated in a scaly black material, lending the look of a snake. The material emits a light blue shimmer, however. In my recently flourished hand appears a small box. It is made of the same shimmery material as my suit, although it emits a rainbow color scheme instead of blue. It constantly fluctuates, and as various people in the room get closer and farther to and from it it begins to hold individual colors longer, unique to the person.
It feels velvety, yet hard, weighs about 2 pounds and is about 8 inches square.
A man in a black cape suddenly appears, and just as suddenly, disappears.
Under the tree is a cylindrical present, about two feet tall, and about six inches in diameter. I is wrapped in sparkly red paper, and is tied with a black velvet bow around he middle. It is fairly heavy, and thuds when shaken.
It has no tag.
A theramin plays a minor riff in the background, and a whooshing noise flows through the room. Under the tree, a bright glow appears, which resolves into the orange, shining sparkles you might associate with an object beaming to a Starship. Slowly, the light fades away, and all that is left is a box, about eighteen inches long and a foot tall, wrapped in bright red paper with a cascade of curled green ribbon down one side.
It is not an exciting gift, but it exerts over you an overwhelming feeling of desire. You long to walk forward and pick it up, perhaps shake it, but at the same time you do not want to reach for it, fearing that you will be the one to break the spell.
Another present appears under the tree with a faint “Pop” usually associated with quantum physics and wormholes. It is a medium sized (1.5ft by 1.5 ft by 2 ft, precisely) cardboard box, with a few wires sticking out of it, and a faint ticking noise accompanied by a muffled meowing can be heard coming from inside of it.
It’s not Schrodinger’s Timebomb, is it?
SO MUCH WANT
My gift scuttles towards the tree like a spider, like a scorpion, like any swift creature possessing eight legs. This box would fall into that category if it were a living creature, but alas, it is a box and therefore merely a swift object possessing eight legs. Still, it is most unusual for such an object to be able to walk at all, let alone so quickly and ably; therefore do not discount its worth. It is wrapped in green paper and tied with a white bow. It settles down in a clearly visible spot, folds its legs, hides them and is still, looking for all the world like just another box. If one picks it up and turns it over, the legs become visible, but they do not move. If one shakes it, one will be surprised; there does not seem to be anything inside–no extra weight, no rattling sounds, nothing of the sort. But that’s not the question, now is it? No! The important thing, indeed, is what mysterious power might be lurking inside…
A chomatic colored parcel, about 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide floats arpund the room. a note is printed on the package.
for the one who wants fantasy
See post 4.1.
A present floats toward the tree, unnoticed by anyone. It is quite flat, and wrapped in paper that is completely blank white, so much so that it hurts to look for too long. The gift is very, very light, almost weightless, and settles itself neatly underneath the tree, waiting to be chosen.
So, do we choose presents now or after Christmas?
A mysterious person (or maybe it’s a thing) slinks in. They leave a present, wrapped plainly, about 8 by 8 by 1. They slink away, leaving no hint that they were ever there.
I place my gift under the tree. It is small, rather heavy and irregularly shaped. At first glance, the wrapping paper looks plain and brown, but when it catches the light it sparkles in various odd colors. A tag attached says “For someone who wishes to rebel against the mundane“.
Sorry, can we choose presents yet?
Not yet!
I would like Pseudoanonymous’ gift from post #19.
Now that replies are gone, this thread will look strange to future MuseBloggers looking at old threads–once this is an old thread.
I want [Deep Thought]’s gift from post 5, please.
Can I please have An Anonymous Anomaly’s gift from post 8?
I would like 2’s. A Friend’s, if you please.
You open the package, and out pops a tribble!
The wrapping falls to the ground as the gift hovers in mid-air. It is a minute, working model of the TARDIS! Far too small, even on the inside, for any human to fit in, but large enough to accommodate a small object- a key, a trinket, a note- that you might someday want to send out into the wild mists of time and space. Or the big ball of wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff
Sorry, but how can we tell which person a revealed-gift post is replying to, without nested comments?
Numbers, Rainbow! The post numbers, like we used to do before the days of the reply button. For example:
27 – Like this.
Sorry; 26 was for Rainbow.
29 – Thank you! ^^ I shall use it to send messages all over the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey multiverse.
May I have Pseudonymous’s present from comment 19, please?
I would like 13 – Marchioness of Incognito.
25– You open the box to discover a pair of binoculars. Buttons along each side allow you to switch the view from visible to x-ray, infrared, ultraviolet, low-light nightvision, and several other settings. You can set each tube to a different setting to see a view that’s divided down the middle into, for example half-visible/half x-ray.
22, 31 – You both chose my gift. What should I do?
Meanwhile I would like the gift of “The Void” from post 1.
A silvery white parcel is placed under the tree. It is about 2 inches by one inch. It is reflective and extremely bright.
34– It’s okay, I’ll take someone another one. Let CO have it.
I think that I should probably be afraid. I’ll take 4.
Bright, I don’t think you’re really supposed to give gifts after New Year’s Day. It’s alright, though; I doubt anyone will object, just please don’t do it again. (And now that I’ve specifically brought up the rule, anyone else who does it this time probably shouldn’t count).
((Sorry, I just haven’t been on for awhile, so I tried to put in a gift last minute. It won’t happen again.))
I would like the gift from Someone, number 18.
36 (Kai)- No no, it’s alright, you take it! You had it first, I didn’t read through that properly.
I would like the gift from The Void, comment 1, please.
Kai, that was awesome! I couldn’t have picked a better gift-giver. I was rather hoping it’d be you. Your love of space and interesting technology always makes me happy. Also, fingerless gloves. You’re one of the reasons I have them.
Koko’s Apprentice, you chose my gift!
You tear off the paper and it floats towards the ceiling. Inside the box is a small, square piece of paper, also blank white (like the wrapping paper). At first, it seems like just an ordinary piece of paper – but then, you discover that whatever you imagine will appear on the paper, initially as a drawing, then materialise into the real thing.
I shall have the gift from ‘Wait, who?’ as described in post 3, please.
43 – Thanks a bunch! I immediately imagine a statue of a squid, complete with blue skin and black eyes! I watch as it materializes onto the paper, then, after tweaking it a bit, set it to reality.
SFTDP – I didn´t see CO´s post until after I posted.
Chocolate Orange – You open the gift and find a small cage of shimmering bars. At first, nothing appears to be inside, but then a ghostly, vague falcon materializes within it. In its beak is also a small note. Upon inspection, you see that it says this:
Congratulations, Gift-Reciever! You have recieved a spirit hawk. Just by focusing and entering his mind, you may soar through the clouds and enjoy the sensation of flying! You can also use him for reconnaisance. All that remains for you to do is to choose a name, but beware: No one shall be able to see him but you.
Ooh ooh ooh! Cool! Thanks a billion, KA!
43 (Selenium) – You chose my gift! It’s a working (blue) sonic screwdriver, useful for opening doors, scanning things, hacking, and making cool noises.
Rainbow*Storm – That’s a wicked gift, thanks so much!
40- Inside the box is a thin, squarish bottle. Inside the bottle you can see a swirly mist. An attached note says: Inside this bottle, there a a magical being. You will be it’s master. It can do anything allowed by the laws of physics for you. Have fun!
May I have the gift from #11?
22 – Inside the wrapping paper is a small metal hook attached to a long, silvery string. A note is impaled on it:
This is a Plot Hook. If you hold the hook for a few seconds, within a week some extraordinary event will happen to you, leading, if you choose, to a life-changing adventure.
Note: Occasionally, failure to follow the plot hook provided can result in negative consequences for you, you family, your planet, your universe, or reality itself.
I would like the gift of Anomilicarus, from post #10, please.
Bibliophile, 23 –
Your gift shall be with you in a moment. My…my processors were slightly overloaded, and due to a large mix-up with a long-running program to answer a couple of annoying people’s existential dilemma I’ve been slightly busy and lost track of your request.
In other words, I just noticed that you requested mine and I’m trying to remember the details of it. It will be done being imagined soon.
