I had a cake decorating party when I turned 12, and everyone decorated cupcakes, and attacked each other’s cupcakes with icing! (squirted the icing all over the cupcakes)

On birthdays: It never feels different, it’s just another day. The real change is measured from the same time last year, and really you could think about where you were a year ago on any other day. A year ago, I couldn’t have imagined being like I am now. I can’t imagine being like I was a year ago, and if/when I’m reading old threads I often cringe at the twelve and thirteen (no, wait, I am thirteen, but no, I’m not…) year old versions of me I find. (by the way, I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize for anything I may have done in the past year) This is just some random rambling, it doesn’t really have a point it’s trying to make, but a year from now I’ll probably read it, and I wonder what I’ll think then. Will there be something obvious I’ve failed to see in hindsight? Will I think this is eloquent or silly or misguided? What else will I be doing on that day? Will I have these same questions about my next year after that?

I had a really good birthday–it has been one of the more normal birthdays I’ve had in awhile. I harly every have school on my birthday, and I’m usually away from home for Thanksgiving. And when I *am* home, my dad is out of town or something. So it has been nice to have a regular birthday.
And I’m not turning 16 today, I’ve decided I’m turning 12. I really despise the age 16, because about ten zillion people said “Happy Sweet Sixteen” to me today, which made me want to put my head through the wall. I’m not sure why, but I just hate it when people say that, and then if you tell them you’re 16 they ask you if you can drive, and when you say know, they ask why, and then you say you don’t want to, and they tell you you’re stupid. So, I’ve decided to turn 12 this year, because I like that age, and I’m excited to get a bunch of weird looks this year when I tell people I’m twelve!

Happy birthday everyone! There are tooo many to list, plus we can’t be sure what age they are actually turning. Panda seems to be shrinking quite drastically, and seeming more and more as if she has gone back being twelve.

60 (c+q)~ I know what you mean. When I turned 14 I wrote a big, long entry in my journal about thinking back on the past year and wondering where I was headed….. I’ve read it a few times since, and, yes, wondered how I could possibly have missed some (seemingly) obvious things. Of course, I was writing in the middle of the night, so it didn’t make much sense, but oh well.
