During last week’s Muserly get-together, Alice, Cat’s Meow, and IBCF — all loyal members of Muse Academy’s Spector House — recorded themselves singing the house song (with lyrics by POSOC). You can hear an MP3 file of the performance by clicking right here.
Patience, Please
This site is under reconstruction and will look strange for a while. We regret the inconvenience.
Yes. ‘Twas awful. The person who’s trying not to laugh is me, as well as the person who speaks at the end.
Sorry, IBCF — I think I just accidentally deleted your “ARRGH!!!”
Just for reference, here are the lyrics that POSOC posted on the “Muse Academy, Part Two” thread:
(To the tune of My Country, ‘Tis of Thee)
Oh, Spector House, thou great
Gem in Muse’s estate,
Forever strong.
Innovative and bright,
Rose like a guiding light,
Unscathed by any plight,
Hear thou our song.
interesting
Later Cat’s Meow contributed lyrics of her own. (She didn’t supply a tune, but that doesn’t seem to make much difference.)
We’re the quiet and the curious
The wild and the smart
And when we cheer for Spector House
It comes right from the heart
We’re the writers and the readers
The mighty and the bold
We write (it’s like an impulse!)
Without even being told
Oh Spector House will everlast
The persistant and the brave
So lift your voices, cheer aloud
For our dearest Spector House!
3- Yeah. Interesting. Awful would be more like it.
I’m… honored. *snif*
4- Oh yeah! We did that one, but about halfway through we stopped and said, “This is more like a chant. Let’s move on” and then moved on and murdered a perfectly good song.
OH. GOD. Why. WHY??? What was I thinking. *dies*

I hadn’t listened to that since I sent it off. IT IS AWFUL. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!! At least Meow and IBCF weren’t sitting right in front of the computer on which we were recording the thing…
*dies again*
5- More like “hideous.”
6- You must have a very loose definition of “honor.”
7- Do you mean that we murdered it by chanting half of it, or mudered it by not chanting half of it?
9- Aw, typo. “Murdered”, not “mudered.” *brain is muddled from listening to recording*
9- We didn’t murder the chant, we murdered the song instead of just severely injuring the chant.
10- Shakespeare said “murther.” *muddles brain further*
I’m stunned.
13- Yes. It’s stunning. I’m fairly sure we could turn it into a lethal weapon in high enough doses…
quote Zoe…interesting! cool, though
Hee hee hee!! That was awesome, lyric-butchering or no.
Do all the houses have songs? I’ve forgotten.
It sounds great!
Aww, that’s nice… It’s nice to hear your voices! And I don’t think it’s so terrible. You were quite brave to sing like that! I don’t like recording myself on the computer, I don’t sing (or haven’t tried) and I would have laughed a whole lot myself during the song if I was there trying to sing. So you all have done quite a good job!
Red-tailed HAWK

Wow…………
It is good too hear you though!
Who said the thing at the end?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
18 – Um, that’s exactly what happened.
20 – Alice, I think.
HA! hahahahahahaha I LOVE it!!! I can’t sing at all, so don’t feel too bad. It’s great.
20- Yeah, that was me.
hmmmm, I haven’t been on this thread yet……, i thought i’d try out the smileys.
-22, i can’t sing either, but i play gee-tar.
Heyyyyyy. Yeah, that sucked.
Alice sounds just like I thought she would, although she looks quite different. Not too different, but still.
POSOC, do you really pronounce your name “Powzock?” I just spelled the letters: Pee oo ess oo see.
I’m not going to say that you guys deserve a recording contract, but it wasn’t as bad as you thought it was. It was nice to hear from real MuseBloggers anyway, and not just black and white names on a screen.
26 – That’s how Alice pronounced it, although, like you, I just said the letters or avoided pronouncing it at all.
26,27- https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1167#comment-35
I say the letters, too. Though, if I had to say it out, I’d say Po (rhyming with throw) Sock (rhyming with Clock).
28 – Oh, whatever.
26 – You can hear normal MBers of all sorts (well, as far as “all sorts” goes with a group as quirky as ours) on the MuseCasts as well.
Spector House? wazzat?
32 – Only the kewlest house evah!!!!!!!!!!111111111
(Yes, that was intentional)
It’s our house for Muse Academy. We tend to have a lot of people that are good at writing and creative thinking and stuff.
33- That does not answer my question………what is it? does it actually exist, or is it virtual?
Oh, don’t worry Alice, it’s not lethal yet. You haven’t added my singing to the group
Perhaps I should show Specter House support during sports by standing next to the other team’s benches and singing house songs until they forfit.
Nae, it is to vile a trick.
34 – Virtual. See the several Muse Academy threads for details. ^_^
ummmm, that was a…. interesting
Encore! Encore!
I think I worked out who was who:
Cat’s Meow- the higher soprano voice
Alice – the one who was more speak-singing and trying not to laugh (Don’t worry I’ve had instances where I’ve been trying not to laugh when I sung. Even worse is trying not to laugh and playing a trumpet.)
IBCF – the deeper voice
Who’s the voice at the end?
38 – Probably.
39 – Alice.
Hey, I finally listened to it. Now I know what my blog-twin sounds like….not much like me. A little, but not a whole lot.
It was funny.
Heh, I just listened to this again (I’ve been thinking about kokons quite a bit lately). I was blushing furiously for the entire — I don’t know, twenty seconds — and in fact, I still am.
It was… Funny. Where was the kokon?
42.1- Spokane. That’s why it was called the Spokane Kokonvention.
Yes, but where is Spokane? (I assumed it was sort of like a spork for a while.)
Washington State. *is offended that SR dosen’t know where Spokane is*
