*sigh* What on EARTH makes anyone think a new thread would help? We’ve still lost most of our characters and we’re sort of wandering around in a daze.
1- ’twas a hedgehogboy.
2- I know.
Methinks we should let this die like you guys decided to let RPW2 die.
4- Methinks it’s dying whether we like it or not. I am sad to let it die, because I spent a LOT of time and effort with this one, and I love it dearly, but I suppose you’re right. If it dies, it dies.
5-I think our mistake here was introducing too many major characters. That way, we couldn’t continue the story if a few key people left.
6- Yeah. That’s the problem with these things. RRRs at least can continue if two people are left.
6 The thing is, with both RPWs that were started, everybody wanted their character to be a major one. I think if we could make one of these and limit the number of major characters, then it would work better. But that would be hard to do.
8- Yes. No one wants to be a secondary character. It always seemed to me that rank of characters was determined by how much they posted, which always resulted in a lot of main characters…
9- But then, later on, they left. A pity.
I left for a while, and this had been going for a while by the time I came back, and I’m sorry to have missed it. I don’t really have time to catch up reading and come up with my own character, but I can help fix any problems or whatever.
The main problems with the Role-Playing Writing threads, is that each blogger/person has their own character, and it can’t really be taken over by another person. So, if one of them leaves, it can create a big hole in the story, which makes it hard to continue.
Argh. Well I don’t mind being a secondary, tertiary, etc character. Cast me as the Assistant blueberry picker used in pie-making for all I care
13- are you new? *PIES* If you want to join, read all four other threads.
Sad, isn’t it?
15- Dead, and still on the main page.
We have to get this finished, if only to stop it hanging over our heads. I have an idea…
What if we assume the large and climatic battle has happened. In the process, several major characters dissapeared, and we don’t know if they are alive or dead (the characters who left). So now, the rest of us could write letters talking about what happened, and what the outcome was. What do you think?
17- That could work. I can’t really write, though- who would I write to?
18- Well, I suppose we’d have to decide who won – then we can decide whether you’re good or evil or dead.
What does everyone think? Did we win, lose, or all die in the attempt? Is Tut evil or not?
can we join this thread?
19- I’m not sure… A lot of us died. I think Tut’s good. I think.
20- It’s almost over…
Good. And ridence.
It’s a great idea. We should do something like this as a RRR. A.k.a. We Write it in letters, but all of us can write.
22- It’s been generally determined that the failure of this thread was that it depended too much on the presence of particular MBers, so if we do another, it should be more of an RRC (Round Robin Correspondence) than an RPW. I propose that we use this thread for the purpose, as soon as (or indeed, if) we finish up the other.
To accomplish the first goal, where exactly were we? We’ll need to figure out the chain of events so that there is no inconsistency in our climactic letters.
I’ll find out wherever we were. Hold on a moment…
OK, so they were on the Moon, and Luna was cracking the Crystal, or pretending, and Rhoda was hiding near them with Lsyor and John S. and maybe some other people, in order to switch Tut. Unfortunately, at that moment, Tut chose to employ Kanjal’s powers, and goodness knows what happened. All I know is that Rhoda’s drifting around, lost and disoriented, with her spirit unraveling.
23- that’s what I meant.
Is this RPW being continued or a new one started? If you do indeed begin one, I would love to join. I think, however, that a rule should be implemented that, if you wish to leave the RPW you must dispose of your character properly, by killing them off or some other like device.
26- I believe we’re trying and failing to finish this one up.
I really enjoyed this thread, but I didn’t like the other one at all. Hmm. *thinks* I was too busy to get into it, I guess. And too confused.
Let’s figure out the sequence of events here. Then, once we’ve wrapped it up, we can write about it.
28- OK. Where to start?
29-Not sure…where would you like to start, my dear? I feel I may be of some assistance, if you’ll have me…lol. Sorry about the weirdness…I’m slap-happy.
Peoples, peoples! I’m summoned here in all urgency, and when I get here, nothing’s happening!!! What’s wrong?
31- Most of our characters are gone. That’s really what’s wrong. I think you’d be of most assistance if you wrote a letter to someone describing the effects of Kanjal’s attack. Feel free to finish off John Smithsonian. He hasn’t been here in ages.
31- Gosh, I don’t even know where to start.
32-Ah…well, yes, that would be a problem…*Lsyor shoots John Smithsonian*…that’s one problem solved, eh? What’s Kanjal? And what did he attack? Or do I really have to read the whole thing…? Does anyone have a composite form of the story that they could email me, please? Maybe? I would be most gracious…
33-Well, I’m creating the in-between story for Lsyor…
Overall, I definitely think the (good) Empowered should win. It would just be too depressing if the “bad guys” win, and I don’t think the story fits with an enemy win. However, it definitely can’t end too mushily. Someone key probably should die so that it still has conflict. Maybe Tutankhbastet should die at the very end?
35- Yeah… But a lot of people have died already…
I know, it just seems like it’s too easy for it to end really happily right now. I’m not sure how else to do it.
Such a good RPW thread wasted. If we can’t continue the Empowered, why don’t we just start a new plot? Just a suggestion…
HI
everybody sorry ive been gone
but im back!
Yay!
Now, all we need is everyone else to come back, too…
*sigh*
I’m back.
I’m back.
I never left, actually. I check this thread daily.
Oddly, me too.
43- That is odd.
44- why?
45- Because a) the thread is dead and b) you were never involved.
Good points.
I’m still here, Alice.
48- You win. I never even check this thread anymore.
49- Me nether. I just thought it was funny to post that.
50- Oh. Then I take it back. Shall it be a draw?
51- yes.
I’m glad you two could work that out.
53- I know, it’s a big relief. That weighed really heavily on me.
So, what are we going to do?
It wouldn’t be possible to revive this so long on? Didn’t think so. *wishes* I’m an insane person who enjoys reading ancient Roleplays for fun, and now I really, really wish I had been around when this was active. It’d never work now, half the key players barely come on/are totally inactive. But it would be so much fun! I even figured who I’d be on this thread, and I wouldn’t even have to start a new character. *sigh*
56- Really? Do tell.
57- Oh, I was going to be Drakesinger. Who would mysteriously morph into a girl, since I don’t think en’s gender was ever specified.
I forget who that is.
Oh right. One of the corrupt Empowered.
My dear Errata, I am delighted that you care. I wish more people did. But there is nothing for it anymore. E2MB, Stormwatcher, Koko Pelle, Shadowkat, and Hedge are all gone entirely. Pan and Cinnamoon are hardly ever around. Oxlin, Fio and POSOC are still active, but I doubt either of them has any interest in the story (although you never know).
Even I can hardly stand the cliches.
Fio didn’t even have much interest in the story back when it was somewhat active. I know POSOC still remembers the story, not that you could forget it.
*sigh* Here I am, proclaiming that there’s no possible way to revive this and still busily working on ways to do so. And figuring out a backstory for Drakesinger, which will never be used. I might post it here, once I’ve typed it out.
61- You know what would be good, if we could do it (which I don’t think we can). If we could bring back a few key people, since we always had too many characters anyway, and rework the story so that it is not as cliche, and also so that we know what is going to happen. Then we write it. This story is even worse than the Sea Roc, but it was fun to do and I want closure, you know? It was an awkward format, but maybe we could even adapt that so that it works better.
But it won’t work, you know. POSOC will either refuse flat out, or come back once or twice but vanish after that. Pan will come back once or twice. Oxlin’s reaction is hard to predict, since I haven’t any past experience with her and dead RRRs. Fio probably won’t come back at all. If we can find Cinnamoon, we can ask her to come back, but she’s hardly ever on. I’m sure we could find new people to fill the slots, but that wouldn’t be the same, you know? If it comes to that, I’d rather let it rest in peace.
62- No. It wouldn’t work. But I keep wishing it could. I’ll go convince people that a new RPW is in order, then. We decided that the AH one was too focused on the tentative plot, and not enough on the AH aspect. And, there was absolutely no characterization going on. But a new one could be fun.
63- Hm, I don’t know. I think a lot of people would be up for a new one, but I can’t say I would be. New things are so hard to keep up with, and it’s all the new people that I don’t know–but I suppose this was mostly new people back then. I think I might be too shy, in a way, to come in and really contribute. But I can try, if we have a new one. And everyone states their character and makes sure that it isn’t a Mary Sue, and I have someone to write to. I must have someone to write to. Can I write to you, Errata, if we have a new one?
It’s funny… I think maybe I’m a little shy of the new crowd. Which is just so plain weird, it’s kind of hard to believe.
64- Hah, we’re still using the little numbers, as if we weren’t the only ones posting on this thread. Anyway…
Of course you may! Now we just need an idea of what it’s about. Or we could make it up as we go along…
I’m thinking a medieval-ish setting, maybe?
Oh, you shouldn’t be shy. We’re quite nice, really.
65- Medieval would be OK, except that if we were to be remotely authentic, none of us would know how to write. I’m fond of 19th century settings myself. I think I had a medieval phase a really long time ago, and got over it, but we could do it if you’d really like to.
I have a character (a Victorian one, but I can modify her to fit into a different time period if necessary) and a First Post with Helpful Rules and Guidelines. Now, we need to decide the setting and we can start, right? -hopeful grin-
We might need votes. I’ll post on the Suggestion box.
