May-hem Dances Toward Dawn

The monthly random thread sashays into its final installment as Bo contemplates whether hems taste better with a dip.

Very nice picture! The pink sky reminds me a bit of Mars. But then, I’ve got Mars on the brain right now.

Dang, that picture’s as good as the last two! Funny, but why did Bo even consider trying the hem without dip. Dip makes almost everything better.

(Second post? I would have gotten 1st if I had come here sooner, instead of playing games. Oh, well.)

I like the picture! It does look like Mars, and Aeiou’s bow is great. I’m wondering if Chad and Bo what they’ve stepped into though.
All the sophomores in my school had to take a random state field test today in both history and math, and because it didn’t count most kids didn’t really try, but I ended up writing three pages for my essay question. I used some info from Hypatia’s history of Islam post on the religions thread! And then I went on a (small) rant about liberation theology. So I had a pretty good day, missing three periods to just write.

43, 33, 31 – My feelings are mixed also. I kind of want to move (so that I can be near bloggers!) because I don’t really like the town I live in, but I don’t want to leave my friends. I get to have some fun though – my family is travelling all over Europe for three months – like a last bash. I’m missing two months of school then. Then we’re going to stay with my grandma in Spokane at least until after Christmas – so no school during that time either! Then we have to find a house… And I’ll either start school or be homeschooled for the rest of that year.

I only stayed at that school for 4 months, though, and then I moved to my current school, and now I love my current school. ^^

Speaking of loving school, this is one of the few times in my life where I’ve actually wished it was a school day instead of the weekend. o.O;; I’m really loving school lately, which I guess is a good thing, but it makes a long weekend feel like torture.

15-16- Wackiness makes the world go round! ;)

28 – Sweet! I thought about doing mine maroon, but I don’t think it would show up very well since my hair is already dark.

29 – I wasn’t ready…I’m just glad to be getting them out of the way at this point! Summer here we come!

30 – I can’t say I know how you feel because I’ve never made such a drastic move (although I’ll have to fairly soon if I go to college abroad right out of high school), but if it’s any consolation, Washington is definitely one of the better states to move to. Be very glad you’re not going to be in the midwest/south (which one is Kentucky? Louisvilleians say midwest, but everybody else says southern) – it’s going to get really humid here soon.

41 – I’ve had problems too, but then again my computer is on the brink of collapse.

50 – Do you live in NZ normally? I visited there once for a few days and loved it…would definitely go back if I could.

    HELLO, EVERYONE!
I flew for the first time on Friday. The plane wasn’t more crowded than I expected, and I got through security without being stopped, thank goodness. But gosh, airports are crowded! And super expensive! On the return flight we brought a (sealed) bag of popcorn, which was good. But it still cost about two dollars for a bottle of water.
It’s a very odd sensation, flying, sort of like your head is about to explode, and not entirely pleasant. But the view from a plane is absolutely amazing. I thought about Musers a lot on the way down, like while I was flying over Northern California and my mom was trying to locate where we lived before, I was thinking about POSOC and E2MB, and whether I was flying over them at that very moment. And then we stopped in San Francisco to transfer flights, and I was trying to get online to tell emmatheduck I was in San Francisco, but of course the airport WiFi isn’t free at all.
We went to the Presidio, which was super cool, and the Botanic Gardens, ditto. And I got a pair of flip-flops which are actually cool, and swam a lot because the motel had a pool.
And we wandered up and down State Street and looked at expensive things in expensive stores, and Mother bought a little thing of lip balm for EIGHT DOLLARS.
We also went to a very nice furniture shop where everything was made out of teak, and ate delicious sandwiches and sat around in a book shop.
And of course there was the play. It was very funny, a little sad, and extremely bizarre. And it was a musical. I liked it a lot, and I met, for the second time, a friend of my grandfather. She is my age and we have a lot in common, such as being Shakespeare fanatics and both liking Lord of the Flies.
And I am probably going to fly down alone in October, to go to the World Shakespeare Festival.
    :D

So here’s Jadestone’s Life Update for the Weekend since I’ve been lazy and not really posting lately and lurking instead. I have fully matured into an oldtimer it seems.

    – No school cause of Memorial day, woo
    – On friday night/saturday morn I went to B’s anti-prom. It was fun, hung out around a bonfire then stayed up late, even though I had to leave early in the morn
    – Went to a jewelry show on saturday, it was amazing… so many sparkling colors for tables and tables and tables, it’s so pretty. And I got a lot of awesome presents and stuff for myself cheap!
    – Iza’s b-day party yesterday was fun too, and I think I like the polish happy birthday song a lot more than the American one, ours sounds like a funeral dirge in comparison. Plus I carried my towel with me around it ^^
    – Memorial Day parade today, played in it for band, it was hotttttt in our uniforms and went on for far to long. And now I am sunburned :(
    – Afterwards me and a few friends hung out at a ice cream/donut shop, then walked to the park and sat on the swingset. And me and my friend JB taught Mel how to climb a tree, which is always fun ^^
    – Not a lot of homework left besides studying for that math test tomorrow… eep
    – Best weekend I’ve had in a long time, I think I even spent more time with my one friend who was at everything I was than I have with my family XD

Unfortunately, there is a time limit so I didn’t get very far at all.

In Spanish we’re doing skits, and N was typing up our script when J, who was sitting next to him and failing to turn on his computer, decided that N must have the magic touch and asked him to press a particular button for him. N misinterpreted, pressed the wrong button, and turned off his computer, on which he was typing the script.

I don’t understand the point of that either. Isn’t it good we’re all trying to change our levels of pollution and waste…?
I read up on it on Wikipedia and let me say that there are interesting points but it seems like there’s definite fact smudging.

“In a BBC interview about this study, Lockwood commented on the graphs shown in the documentary:

All the graphs they showed stopped in about 1980, and I knew why, because things diverged after that … You can’t just ignore bits of data that you do not like.”

Some of the people interviewd have expressed disagreement with how their comments were displayed

“”In the part of The Great Climate Change Swindle where I am describing the fact that the ocean tends to expel carbon dioxide where it is warm, and to absorb it where it is cold, my intent was to explain that warming the ocean could be dangerous—because it is such a gigantic reservoir of carbon. By its placement in the film, it appears that I am saying that since carbon dioxide exists in the ocean in such large quantities, human influence must not be very important—diametrically opposite to the point I was making—which is that global warming is both real and threatening.”

But then, I’ve just been fed lies my whole life, apparently.

They think that they can make up for this by the fact that there’s 2500 some scientists who believe in Global Warming, but the list of real scientists was so small that they had to incorperate almost any government official who thought Global Warming was real. I think before anyone makes any descisions about the movie, they should WATCH it first.

And the crying was even a little more real ’cause I was scared it was going to be awful!!! And then we were on a roll until the end, when L said the wrong line during our word association bit and we jumped all over the place until A finally took it upon herself to end it, after which the play proceeded smoothly for the next minute when it ended. Now at the end, the lights all fade down on K, who walks to the front of the stage and says, “As it was in the past, the future lies in eggs,” which, of course, is the entire point of the play (but not the most important line, which is “You can always go to the fireworks displays”). The lights faded down all right, and K walked to the front of the stage like he should, and he said, “As it was in the future, the past lies in eggs. Yeah. That’s right.” And as we exited C stepped in the mashed potatoes.

Hmmmm. This whole talk about global warming is interesting. *reads* So, we’re arguing about what causes global warming? OK. Let’s think about this. Our planet is heating up. Our planet keeps gases inside it’s atmosphere and doesn’t let the gases escape. Carbon dioxide just happens to be one of these gases. Scientists have measured the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere over the years and have found out that the amounts of this gas is increasing, in fact, more carbon dioxide then our planet has ever seen according to scientific research. Carbon dioxide also so happens to be a heating agent. Therefore, is it such a coincidence that our planet is also experiencing unusually high average temperatures? OK. *thinks* This increase is fairly recent, from Earth standards. So, what has changed on our planet in these past few years that could make for an increase in carbon dioxide? I mean, I haven’t seen this BBC thing, but the first thing that would come to my mind is industrialization. If it is not the entire cause, it sure is a huge contributor. I don’t know, maybe I should watch this BBC thing, but I’m sure that no one would disagree that having less carbon dioxide in our atmosphere would be a good thing. I think that “going green” is a fantastic thing for our planet. Using the excuse that “this global warming thing is a fraud” is not productive for out future, whether the excuse is true or not. “Going green” isn’t just good for the biosphere, it is also good for our economy in general. If you don’t care about the global warming issue, care about our planet’s supply of resources and act anyway.

OK. Discussion out. Now, I’ll go see what you guys were talking about.

Well, Cricketblog (I guess I’ll call it that) should be starting soon. I think I might show them how blogging goes…… Never mind. Anybody else going to do it too? I might need someone else to be there too. But I will definitely not leave museblog. In fact, I will be on museblog more than cricketblog. Oh well. I’ve been waiting but it isn’t up yet. It said “coming in late May 2008” and today is the latest of May you can get.

Hi I’m here if anyone cares.
I think people should just stop polluting. Knowing whether or not global warming is happening or how severely we are affecting it doesn’t change anything. We can just sit here and say that our emissions are harming the world, but just because we know or don’t know that doesn’t mean it helps.
    Helping helps.

Okay, my last post wasn’t really that great. I just want to tell you all that I won’t be on as often as I usually have been. Facebook is sucking me in. So I might only be on a couple times a week, or maybe only once every couple of weeks. But I’ll still come on, don’t worry.

Gah! Three or four more pages of history and one of English. The history has to be finished by tomorrow, and the English by Monday ‘cept I’m out of the house working with my history group from 10:30 to 4:15 and have book club from 4:15 to, oh say, about 7:00. That leaves me about three hours to study math (and cover about half the year) on Sunday night. Chances of survival: Oh, I’d say 0.0000000001%!

Furthermore, as far as parentals are concerned, I am asleep right now. Therefore I must tread softly (and write five pages).
