Attention, Washington, D.C.-Area Musers!

There’s been a call for a mini-Kokonvention in D.C. in the last week of June. If you’re available and interested, have your parents e-mail the Administrators at gapa @ musefanpage .com .

  2. Well, what say your parents? I haven’t heard from them.

Cat’s Meow is coming to town in the last week of June. No overlap, I suppose?

And we haven’t heard from locals such as Red-tailed HAWK and Beavo and their parents.

Clearly, we’ve got some communicating and organizing to do. Mostly by e-mail, please, and from parents. We don’t want to post any plans here for the whole world to scrutinize.

  10. (8) My standard offer for Musers in town on weekends is Saturday brunch or lunch at the National Press Club, on the corner of 14th and G Streets, two blocks from the White House (Metro stop: Metro Center or McPherson Square). The grill room there is informal, but it’s also pretty dead on weekends. It opens at 11.

Alternatively, we could have lunch at Ella’s Wood Fired Pizza, 901 F Street, NW (Metro Center or Gallery Place Metro stops). The pizza is excellent, as last year’s August Kokonventioneers can confirm.

During the week, I’m happy to give quick tours of Science magazine — but they may have to be very quick, as I get pretty busy sometimes.

I was frustrated when I missed the Spokane Kokonvention, and now Meow is coming HERE and I can’t come. :( Will you be in D. C. the whole time? How long are you here, actually? I think going to D. I might be able to come, I dunno. My parents are both fans of Muse, MuseBlog, Musers, and just about anything relating to our little piece of the world-real or virtual. They’d probably drag me to one if I didn’t want to go!! (Not like that’s the case, but you know what I mean….)

Anyway, more particulars, and I might be able to get there…..

  45.  ¡Red-tailed HAWK!  [8,337 piepoints ©, 16 spdzk points and 22 KAG points] | says:

    43-OK, just making sure…

43-44–Thursday doesn’t work for us. I don’t know how other people feel, but I feel dinner wouldn’t be the best way to spend time together, at least not just that. I’m thinking it would be a very expensive way to spend a short space of time, during which we might be more focused on eating. :D

I don’t think my parents would drive me into D. C. for dinner. Saturday the 28th is best for us. Something like the Folklife festival would be a nice way to spend time together, I think. There are lots of things we can do, I’m sure. I’m not saying we couldn’t eat, I’m saying just eating (especially dinner with traffic, etc…) wouldn’t in my mind be a good way to spend time together.

What do other people think? MF, would it be possible for you to do the Folklife Festival on Saturday instead of Thursday?

I’m hoping we can find a time and place that works for everybody, including Robert. It would be cruel to have a Kokonvention here without him!! :)

Please say what you think of my suggestions/opinions!

38 – Not a bad idea, actually, since I can’t drive…but then again, the buses that come through here are seriously unreliable, so I’d probably get stranded somewhere scary on the way there.

39 – Are there any MBers besides me who are near or in Tennessee? I wonder if we could arrange a southern Kokon.

Is this an annual thing? I doubt I can make it this year, but next summer my family will probably vacation near DC, so I could definitely come then! Yay.

Since Saturday is also best for Robert for more than just dinner, what if we have the full kokonvention (Folklife festival, etc…) on Saturday the 28th? As much as I’d like to see you, MF, a MBer coming from Washington state is a rare occurrence and I do want to come to some sort of kokonvention to meet Cat’s Meow. So, would you mind if we had a kokonvention without you on Saturday? Robert seems to be offering to have dinner with you on Thursday, and I can’t come for that.

If I go on Saturday (which I probably will) then Thursday will probably just be spent visiting the festival, and not any mini-kokons.
