Make a Muse Chess thread! I.e., Koko could be the king, Urania the queen, and so on. We could tell which moves we make, and challenge other bloggers! Thanks for answering my request. FIRST POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By “my request”, I mean on the Ask the GAPAs thread.
YES!! bo could be the knight and mimi the rook or something!
We Really need a HG2G or Douglas Adams Thread.
It doesn’t matter which you chose.
what is HG2G?
is it muse related?
should I know about it?
Well, I know that bunny and koko sightings are really exciting. In the past, they were started when one occured. But when people send it, they’re always nervous-will this deserve a separate thread? or will it be put on some thread that is already quite abandoned, and will soon be completely forgotten? I think we should have a bunny/koko sighting thread.
Could there be a Points thread? For various point distribution? Because there’s a lot of that going on on other threads, and it gets confusing.
Sorry…double post but…
5 – YES! HitchHiker’s Guide to the Galaxy! You should know about it! Douglas Adams wrote it.
Sorry. But I am a bit obsessed.
It is kind of Muse-related in that apparently he is one of the two most popular authors on here.
Muse Chess Thread! p***** GAPAs? Please!
Wasn’t there a Muse-chess contest in Muse a few years ago?
5- *pies EarthGirl*
Yes, EarthGirl, HG2G is the Most Importent book sereis in the Museverse.
Look at the top of the page.:
HG2MB
Another Name for the Kokospircy:
Mostly Harmless (What earth is and the name of the fifth book in the trilogy. Don’t ask.)
Restace is Museless!
10- Yeah, I think that’s where they got the idea.
There should be an obsessions thread. We could rant about thing’s we’re obsessed with. Or a self help thread! I could usse some advice from a bunch of people…
Chess sounds like a good idea, but I think it would be more successful if combined with something else, like Cryptids and Soccer was.
13- Oh, Great!
Gapas, You know what we Want:
A muse Chess/ Douglas Adams Thread!
Muse Chess Thread!
-12 go to Advice.
H2G2 Thread! Points Thread! Muse Chess Thread! Muse Chess could be Muse Chess/Muse Board Games/Paker Discussion!
favorite things?
The “I beg to differ” shirt, and the “Truculent lagamorgh” shirt.
18- Interesting t-shirt logos?
How about another World Wide Web thread?
18- and a H&H Shirt.
How about a “I was at the Museica Constitutional Convention, and All I got was this lossy T-Shirt”
*runs in*
Kokopollihedron shirts on musery! Kokopollihedron shirts on musery!
*runs to next thread*
21- *Fines NAPOI*
22-For what?
21- I prefer the Bo Knows t shirt.
THE BIG FAT THREAD OF TOTAL IMMATURITY!!!!!
Hm. There’s an idea: a “Big Fat Thread of Total Immaturity.” That may have possibilities…
Yes, it does. Sharing pranking ideas and….Wait- is that sarcastic?
Music
Scrabble
Trivia (they have to be REAL facts, though, because if you make me lose because of a joke I will HUNT YOU DOWN)
Travel and Airplanes
Philosophy
Science Fiction (“Books” is waaaay to general) (Even better would be an “Orson Scott Card” thread)
Teachers, school, etc.
27- No, I think he’s serious… he just is amused by the possibilities.
28- No the GAPAs don’t DO threads about specific authors, or BOOKS, for that matter… like MAXIMUM RIDE, or TWILIGHT, for some examples…*cough cough cough*
(29) If you were to find the birthdays of those authors, however, we could create birthday threads for them on which, theoretically speaking, you could discuss them to your heart’s content. We like birthdays.
Terry Pratchett’s Birthday: April 28! *coughthreadcough*
Suggestion: Think about changing the blog back to its original colors. I liked that a lot better.
(/factoid) The Bosnian fonetik spelling of Douglas Admas was Daglas Adams…actually, I hate it when they modify the author’s name…(/factoid rant)
How about, to release our inner randomness a #post thread/
Hey I got a first post! Hey I got a 12th post! Hey I got a post, which is the second largest prime number multiplied by itself plus the first triangle number! etc…
I am not entirely sure that that was a serious request, but I seriously second all the Musery Loves Kompany requests (and suggest that it be permanently changed from a c to a k)
AUTHOR BIRTHDAYS:
Stephenie Meyer: December 24
J. K. Rowling: July 30
James Patterson: March 22
Tolkien: January 3
Stephen King: September 21
Jane Austen: December 16
Tamora Pierce: December 13
Name any authors you think are important, and I will find their birthdates.
politics. there should be a thread about politics.
35-Go to the Current Hot Topics Thread, (v. 2007.8)!
-35 true, but you never know, politics can be extremely offending to some people….
How about a waiting room thread where we grumble and do impatient cricket over exciting events in the near future?
Or I just second the “Big Fat Thread of Immaturity”!
Will there be a thread for the olympics! That would be fun. Then we could be all official and “liveblog” the Olympics! I’d like that…
35- *laughs nervously* Nice idea, but we would probably end up tearing each others heads off…
This is totally reansom, but can anyone assist me in finding the lyrics to Stick By You by Andrew Lipke? I have an excellent fanfiction idea, but it wouldn’t work without those lyrics…
Would this work? It’s not by Andrew Lipke, though.
I’m gonna stick by you, everyday
Iwon’t let you down now
No matter what they say
I won’t let them get to you, no way
I’ll stick by you
I’m going to stick by you
Now I know
No matter what tomorrow brings
I won’t let you go
I won’t let them get to you, Oh no
I’ll stick by you
And when the laughter seems to fade away
And Mr Sun becomes a rainy day
Oh it don’t matter cause you’ll know anyway
I won’t let you down
I’m gonna stick by you
I’ll stick by you
Going to stick by you, now I know
No matter what tomorrow brings
I won’t let you go
I won’t let them get to you, no
I’ll stick by you, I’ll stick by you
I’ll stick by you, I’ll stick by you
34 – Eion Colfer (author of Artemis Fowl if I spelled that wrong…)
34 – Wasn’t J.K. Rowling’s birthday on the 31st?
(42!) July 31, in fact. It’s Harry Potter’s birthday, too. Both are coming up on the MuseBlog calendar.
I meant not July 30, but July 31. So I was right. Yay!!!
could we have another Random Factoids thread?
Could we just do Muse Chess and get it over with?
Threads where you can’t write anymore posts should be marked by something, like a period, or a parenthesized “X”, or a dash.
Otherwise it can be confusing.
How about a completely and entirely blank thread that we put to whatever purpose we choose. It would not be like the mprphing chameleon thread, because its possibilities would be more broad, and it would not be like the random thread, because once a theme or idea was settled upon people would be pied into oblivion for digressing…
34- Susanna Clarke. Arthur Ransome. Monica Furlong.
How about a thread for very awesome and inplausible inventions that we would muchly like to see?
Don’t forget a July/August Muse Discussion thread!
What? No thread for us to bemoan the incarceration of the Globe theatre (which occurred today)!
I am appalled. ( )
41- Eoin Colfer: May 14
49- Susanna Clarke: November 1
Arthur Ransome: January 18
Monica Furlong: January 17
Yay! I feel so useful!
Um, a SUMMER Thread.
there should be a thing that counts up all posts by each person, and all posts total, and maybe which threads they were in, if possible.
Maybe it could be a thread, so people could respond to their posting habits.
Also, it would create a reliable system of when one was no longer a Neophyte.
Jasper Fforde:
Jan. 11, 1961
turning 58 “Next” year.
55-Nice ideas. However, I’m sure it would be difficult to create. And the GAPAs are pretty busy. What do you think, GAPAs? Would it be possible to create a thread like that? Because every time you posted, it would need to change.
Also, there are tens (hundreds?) of thousands of comments. It would take a lot of room to display where every comment went!
Red-tailed HAWK
I don’t think that would be possible. Even if MBers never changed their names, I don’t know of any WordPress plug-ins capable of making counts like that — and Rebecca and Rosanne and Paul and I certainly aren’t going to do it “by hand.”
All this talk about who’s a neophyte and who’s not bewilders me a little. Surely the important thing is how comfortable people feel here. Back in the early days of the blog, MBers came up with the rule of thumb that it took a month to become an old hand. On your one-month blogiversary, you stopped being a neophyte. That’s as good a system as any, it seems to me, if you really need one.
56- Please exacerbate on who Jasper Fforde is, please. Author? What books does he write?
59-“He is the son of John Standish Fforde, the 24th Chief Cashier for the Bank of England (whose signature used to appear on sterling banknotes) and the cousin of the author Katie Fforde. He was educated at the progressive Dartington Hall School. His early career was spent as a focus puller in the film industry, where he worked on a number of films, including Quills, GoldenEye, and Entrapment.
His published books include a series of novels starring the literary detective Thursday Next; The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book, The Well of Lost Plots, Something Rotten, and First Among Sequels. The Eyre Affair had received 76 publisher rejections before its eventual acceptance for publication. Fforde won the Wodehouse prize for comic fiction in 2004 for The Well of Lost Plots.
The Big Over Easy (2005), which shares a similar setting with the Next novels, is a reworking of his first written novel, which initially failed to find a publisher. Its original title was Who Killed Humpty Dumpty?, and later had the working title of Nursery Crime, which is the title now used to refer to this series of books. These books describe the investigations of DCI Jack Spratt. The follow-up to The Big Over Easy, The Fourth Bear, was published in July 2006 and focuses on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Fforde’s books are noted for the number of literary allusions, wordplay and the tightly scripted plot, and loose adherence to traditional genres. His works usually contain various elements of metafiction, parody, and fantasy. None of his books have a chapter 13.
Fforde has an interest in aviation, and owns and flies a Tiger Moth.”-Quoth Wikipedia.
50:
YES!!!!
60:
Good summary, and I never knew the banknote thing.
his next book will be a book called Shades Of Grey.
Did you get my earlier pun?
70:
I don’t think that would work, and you don’t even exist yet.
61-Yes, I did get the joke! *Laughs*
60- Ah, I see.
July 20th is Moon Landing Day.
We wantses new shirts on Musery Loves Company. Some suggestions:
-H&H
-“I Beg to Differ”
-“Truculent Lagomorgh”
-“When I was your age, Muse was 48 pages long.”
-“PWT&
BO&
KOKO&
CHAD” (spoofing famous Beatles t-shirt)
“Prepare to Be Bunnified”
Piggy- We already have new H&H and I Beg to Differ shirts.
How about another NationStates thread? It seems to be a resurgent trend, and it’s beginning to clog the random thread.
I agree?
67 – Agreed.
I think there should be a fairy tale thread ,where you could be a princess or a knight or whatever. Like those role playing games.
70-Why Færie Tales, just out of curiosity?
Hey, guys! Due to the fact that I have lots of spare time on my hands this summer, I have just came up with a potentially awesome idea! Why don’t I make cartoon movies (like the bunny invasion movies) about the ships’ logs threads? The reason I am saying this on the blog is that if I were to actually do this, I would need to know what everyone’s character looked like, what the ships looked like, what the cheesies and pie-rats looked like, and so on and so forth. But I could do it! I have the time!
72- Bring it up on the ships log!
72- It’s pierate. They’re not rats.
74- Oops. Misspelling.
How about a thread about Chatbots?
72-Awesome!
76-I would go to the Computers Thread.
Could we have a new H&H Thread? The last one closed a few hours ago. Also, could Crepes be added to the Menu?
How about a thread about mondegreens?
78- A whole thread?
79- *thinks* Maybe not. It should be brought up in the either the Random or Morphing threads though…
71- (narrows eyes) I just have thing with fairy tales… GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT!!!!! … (anywho…) I think we should have Muse mancala. ( sorry for the ouburst……)
81- That sounds a lot harder than chess though, the GAPAs would probably go insane trying to make it happen
This is an idea I got. Keyboard Pals. Like Pen Pals, except it’s computerized. The GAPAs randomly pair up different MBrs, and we type “letters” to each other. Although Leafygreen and I will have to share someone…
72- Bunny Apocalypse first, or something shorter, please. PLEASE.
83-That woulod be fun. I’d do that.
Can We have a Shakespeare Thread?
85-yay!!!!!
Please can we have Muse mancala? .please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please pleasse please please please please please please please please pleasee please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please
87- No we can’t! Those pieces are way to hard to keep track of. It wouldn’t work.
And you are clogging up the comment box!
88- Mancala is fun! And we should leave it to the GAPAs.
89- Your one to talk miss double post!!!!
90- Even GAPAs are not superhuman, unfortunately.
Chess is hard enough for them, what with changing the pieces for every single move. I don’t really think there’s a sane way to put mancala on the blog.
Anyone who wants to write a Mancala plug-in for WordPress is welcome to send it to us.
Plus, Mancala’s a bit of a dumb game.
I wonder if we could play monopoly on the blog…
*want a Keyboard Pals thread*
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease GAPAS?
Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty Please with Kokopelli sprinkles on top?
*incessently bugs*
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Yes, incessantly bugging the GAPAs is well known to be the best way to get them to grant your requests.
93 – I would totally play that. But it’s hard enough in real life…
I have no idea how to play Mancala.
Much like I have no idea how to play those clapping games.
THE HORROR!!
Monopoly is fun. At my house, games of Star Wars Monopoly go on for HOURS!
Anyway, oh GAPAs, what about a Holiday thread?
OH!
What about a Location thread? You discuss where you live…see if you can meet up anywhere…
Keyboard Pals? Please? *pathetic look with puppy dog eyes*
98- TO MUCH WORRY
97-I got an unopened copy of Monopoly at a tag sale yesterday for $1!!!!!!
GAPAs: how about a “Muser Glossary” thread, a sort of place that all the neophytes go to for information about different or puzzling words, expressions, of just general questions.
I know the HG2MB thread is still open, but it’s dead. V-E-R-Y dead.
102- We do have a “Muse Encyclopedia” thread, you know.
Also- “What’s in a name?” It’s about Mber’s blognames. Where did you get them? Do have something that reminds you of it? I got the idea from IBCF’s old name- Fluffylump. *laughs* That makes me laugh. POSOC made it “Irregular Bump of Copious Fur” and it eventually morphed into IBCF. POSOC could do that to other people on this thread too. But I am not going to change my name again.
Could we have another Random Factoids thread? Or the “What in a Name” thread Zinc was talking about. That would be cool. But than I would just say “I like the beatles” and, well, nothing else :(, but still, that would be cool.
104- You are Woman Who Summons Spirits To Perform Magic and Goes By the Name of the Element with Atomic Number 30 (WWSSTPMAGBTNOTEWAN 30)
106 – Ha ha. What about me?
I concur with the “What’s in a Name?” thread.
103- yeah, from the fifteenth century.
I, too, concur with the “What’s in a Name?†thread..
106-Do the name this post is under.
Also Lady Elle Mostly Harmless Serafina Lyra Avalon Myst Silvertongue Museical the 3rd who has a ridiculously long name and you DON’T CALL HER TRIP!!
….Yeahhh. That’s me.
I’ve just created a new edition of the “Words and Names” threads, which may include “What’s in a Name?”
Thank you, Robert! Can you post a link to it for all us people who, if they don’t bookmark things, have trouble finding them?
Trouble finding it on the main page?! Well, if you say so:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1433
‘Main page?’ What is this ‘main page?‘ Tell me more of your ‘main page’.
113- https://musefanpage.com/blog
113-You can click the banner at the very top that says:
MuseBlog
Life, the universe, pies, hot-pink bunnies, world domination, and everything
Shai, keredomo itto ato hitokuchibanashi!
Japanese to English. What I wrote really means something, although it’s choppy…
Back to School?
117 – IT THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED.
Actually, I’m rather looking forward to going back to school, but it’s going to be incredibly weird. I guess a thread to talk about the weirdness on would be welcomed.
A Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog thread. There seem to be a substantial number of fans here (myself included after watching the last act.)
119 – What’s that?
Could we have a Back to School thread, please, like TMFA suggested?
119-Yay!
119-YES! YES! YES! I do have to wonder, though…how about a TV Shows thread instead?
120-I’d come. School is ech. So, YES!
Could we have another Random Quotation’s thread?
How about a thread for the Olympics? For us sports fans?
(124) The Olympics are the current topic on the Incredible Morphing Chameleon Thread.
125-oh, okay. Thanks!!
What about a complicated songs thread? Like, you over-complicate song titles. I already have a long list of over-complicated Beatles songs… we could guess what the real title is!
Here’s an example:
Copper Piece of Currency worth One Cent Last Name of Superman’s Girlfriend
And you guess what it means!
128-Penny Lane?
129 – Yes, that’s correct.
See? Like that. That’s what the thread would be centered around.
can we have an artemis fowl thread? it wouldnt have to be a specific kind of artemis fowl, like spoilers or trivia. I could send in my translation of the bottoms of the pages of all the books!
((only “kind” was supposed to be i))
(131) You’d need spoiler warnings, though, wouldn’t you?
127-that would be so cool!!!!!! I would totally do that.
131-I’ve always wanted to translate the pages, but I guess I’m too lazy.
A thread on the 1920’s! Also known as the Jazz Age or the Roaring Twenties. I always found the era interesting. Vintage things are very interesting, though that could refer to later decades as well.
Of course, there is the History thread, but this is muchly different. *nods*
Star wars thread? Please? BUT none of the new trilogy/clone wars.
How about a Jumanji RPG?
134- I cracked the code without a key. And then I forgot. *facepalm*
137- Ooh, that be cool! All these Musers lost in the jungle, and there’s natives, crocodiles, etc. etc…. me likee. P*ease can we have it? Pr*tty p*ease?
P*ease
137- Maybe not Jumanji, but how about, an RPG, where we Musers are let’s say, on the same airplane, the airplane crashes on a remote island, and there are natives and stuff. You know, the usual, a little less gory than Lord *pies fly by* of the *dodges 50 more* Flies *is pied* though. Us Musers wouldn’t go crazy like that, would we? Or maybe we would be worse… *shudder*
ANYWAYS. Yeah.
141- Seconded!
I don’t care what sort of RPG we start as long as we have some rules as to plot points and characters and don’t randomly begin introducing genetically engineered wizards or the like. IBCF will back me up on this one.
I’m pretty bad at keeping up with RPGs, but I would make an attempt, I think, if there were fewer Mary Sues. And more plot. Sort of like a RPW, but not in letter form. Maybe that’s the key, actually. If we act like it’s a book, then it’ll turn out better…?
141- Sounds like fun!
144- Mary Sues? I’m basing Leafy off of who she is in real life.
GAPAs, we have three pleas for a “Lost in the jungle” RPG!
146- Eh. I don’t know, I haven’t been keeping up. But it seems like there are a lot of mages, psychics, vampires, geniuses, etc. Too many for comfort. I can’t speak for your portrayal of Leafygreen, though.
147- Seriously. She’s hyper, violent, and mental in real life. I’m her best friend. I know that.
142- Well, I don’t know…
143- Yes. In 100% agreement with you, POSOC.
*headdesk*
142- It wasn’t my idea. It was someone else’s, I just liked it.
*headdeskagain*
I’m getting so angry/frustrated/depressed I’m going to go read.
*finishes* *leaves*
150- Sorry, I meant to reply to post #151. Hm, must have mistyped.
Perhaps a bit early, but I just wanted to remind the GAPAs that October 4th is Sputnik Day.
We need a Candy Mountain RPG!
Three questions:
1. Who or what is Mary Sue?
2. Why do people like Monopoly? I have Horse-Opoly at my house. Basically, you buy and sell horses. Me and my sisters have never finished a game-we always quit out of boredom before anyone collects all of one color of horse cards.
3. Can we have a one-thread RPG that doesn’t go on and on into two, three, or SIX (coughcoughBunnyApocalypsecoughcough) threads? It gets confusing if they’re too long.
I don’t know if someone has already suggested this, but….
We should have a thread where you can post questions about school work and someone (GAPA or MBer) can help you. (No cheating and answering the question for them!)
Star wars thread now please?
154- A Mary Sue is a character, usually found in self-published, self-written work, that the writer uses to glorify themselves. Typical Mary Sue characters will look very similar to the author, but be “improved” in some way, be it taller, stronger, or more beautiful. There’s a funny comic-parody of Mary Sue, I think it’s called Sparklypoo?
I’m not sure it has a title, but you can find it at http :// piratemonkeysinc .com/ ms1.htm
MuseBloggers had an interesting discussion of Mary Sues back in December 2005:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=137
Sparklypoo made an appearance (in dialogue) on one of the “Muse Academy RPG” threads:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1187#comment-288
What does everyone (this includes GAPAs) think of my homework help thread? We could call it “Homework Gripes” or something!
159 – I love it! In fact, I think we had a thread something like that a while ago… *searches the MB for the old “OMG-I-NEED-HELP-WITH-MY-HW” thread*
Aha! Here it is. https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=247 is the link. We could simply use that one, or create a new thread, if that’s what people want to do.
I think we should start a new one. That one is a bit crowded.
All in favor?
Er, whoops, both of the OMG, etc threads are closed. Hehe. I didn’t look very hard, I just found the first one and got the link. Well, at least I was right about what it was called.
But it’s a great idea, Lady G, and I support your suggestion to revive/avenge the OMG, etc thread.
Yay! Thanks
a pie thread?
Another Books and Reading thread, pur-leez?
I think an OMG-HW thread would be incredibly appropriate, seeing as most bloggers are diving into school right now.
Ah, yes. Sparklypoo. I think Lizzie told me about that a few months ago, during a discussion about the Mary-Sue-ness of Twilight.
The last Homework thread appeared in 2006, so I think a new one is definitely in order.
LORD OF THE RINGS thread is needed badly.
YES!!!!!! LOTR THREAD!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
And, points thread is good. I have some questions about points…
Like, what exactly are the types of points?
Who can give out what points?
Do you have to have points on your blognickname to be able to give them out?
Can you make your own points?
What do the different types of points mean?
Why are you awarded points?
Those should be addressed on the actual thread, so neophytes understand what’s going on. Also, the points thread should be signposted on the Don’t Forget These Threads.
We should have a Pumpkin Drop at WV thread. We could call it… “The Squash Squash”… or “Pumpkin Droppiness”, or something. Or we could just do “Pumpkin Drop at West Virginia”, if we wanted to be dull and sensible. Or not make a thread at all, whatever you want to do. Just a suggestion.
MuseBlog should have a word of the week.
168–Ooh yeah! That would be awesome! Elvin, anyone?
172–I second that. Bloggers could write in with suggestions, and GAPAs could pick the best each week. Although this might turn out to be a considerable amount of work for the GAPAs, what with our love of words and all.
“Work.” Now, there’s a word I don’t like — especially when followed by the phrase “for the GAPAs.”
I think the Words & Names thread can work for that idea. It’s almost like a word-of-the-day thread, except the bloggers come up with the words. And there are several a day.
how about a pie war thread? please, please, please, please, please GAPAs? with a cherry on top? And chocolate? And whipped cream? pleeeeeeeeeeaaaase?
Can we have a new Musers in their natural habitats thread?
I still say we need a Candy Mountain RPG!!!!!!!!!
176- We do have one. World of Piecraft.
I know it’s really early, but can we have a Halloween-y thread? Like maybe an RPG sort of thread where musers are attacked by zombies, ghouls, mummies, vampires, witches, mutants, monsters, wizards, and aliens. Except so random and funny (like the bunny melee or scribblemaya) that nothing excessively gory or disturbing happens. And people can die, or be zombified or mutated or whatever, but can come back to life in the subsequent story, which has little or nothing to do with the last one. *rambles on about stupid idea*
Can we have another RPW thread like we did back in the old days? I had tons of fun being megavillan JJ Krout
I’m waaaaaiting…*hoof taps floor impatiently* We MUST have a Candy Mountain RPG!!!!!! Who’s with me?
NaNowriMo 2008 is only 43 days away!
I have an idea, what if we had a RPG/RoundRobinRittin of somesort that comprised solely of Mary Sue characters? It would be chlallenging, we could put all the characters in somesort of drab adventure through a desert/barren place, and just have the outlandish character vs. character drama begin.
There would have to be rules of course, one character per person, you must be astoundingly beautiful, weapons are super fantastically amazing, and I guess that we’d need one super evil villain that they were all related to, but needed to defeat. The reader would want to sympathize with the villain, of course, maybe all the Mary Sues end up destroying eachother in the end?
Oh! And we’ll need super thinly veiled backgrounds of stores like Harry Potter and Twilight.
Super stereotypical minor characters. And the word super, or something else used every other sentence. Super!
This could be very challenging, to explain to the writers. Perhaps it needs some tinkering before a formal proposal is submitted.
Suggestions?
Oh my, that would be fun.
179- I second the Halloween thread, but minus the RPG part. RPG’s are not quite my thing, maybe two separate threads?- One for real life Halloween discussions and the other for and RPG like IBCF suggested, or would that be an unnecessary thread overload?
It’s not to early to think about Halloween in my opinion. Goodness, I’ve been thinking of costumes since July, and the decorations have been up in some stores for two months now…
183- Heehee, that sounds great. Unfortunately, we have too many RPGs as it is. THEY ARE TAKING OVER THE BLOG!!!!
185- I’m not really thinking of an RPG. Just sort of a random Halloween-themed story/game where you don’t have to write formally (though you can if you want) and can jump in or out at any time. But you still have to follow a basic plot line, and stick with it until the story comes to a conclusion (preferably a wacky one, like, everyone dying). And then we start a new plot, completely unrelated to the last story/game (unless we really want to continue it).
But I’m just rambling on about my silly ideas. Basically, I’m trying to combine a Halloween-based RPG with Scribblemaya and see where it goes. What’s the harm in trying?
Guys, why do we not have a Fashion Thread? It seems to be a critical absence from the blog. Fashion is fascinating. (Yes, I did see the chance for a pun, but it seemed cheesy.) Or do we have one that’s ancient that nobody goes on anymore?
Could there be a thread kind of like the Polling Place, where we post stuff like age, gender, what state we live in, how often we post on the blog, and favorite things? Then, using that information, we could create a profile of the “average” MuseBlogger.
Sorry to double post, but I second the Mary Sue RPG thread idea.
189-https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1390
189- There’s already “Muser Profiles” if you want to check there. At least, I think that’s what it is called…
I second the Mary Sue and Halloween RPGs!
Does anyone have suggestions for an RPG/RRR/RPW that I could join that isn’t too confusing?
194- Sadly, no. RPGs are too confusing after the first forty posts. You could attempt to work yourself into BA or MA or Steampunk Jungle, but I wouldn’t recommend it. RPGs are more incomprehensible than RRRs, and yet they all seem to survive while the RRRs wilt away. There aren’t any RPWs at this time, unless you count Empowered, which is DEAD and not very welcoming to newcomers anyway, much as I hate to say it. You really have to be in those things from the start, or else be willing to read everything already posted.
RRRs… Well, there’s Frank, Araminta, and Co., which has been terribly confusing for a terribly long time, but we’d all be very happy if you joined:
https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=962
If you post there I’ll do my best to help you to understand.
There’s also the Sea Roc, which is a) finished (we’re rewriting now) and b) impossible to understand (hence the rewriting). We’d be happy if you posted, but less anxious to recruit you. ( https://musefanpage.com/blog/?p=1412 )
The Alchemy RRR, might be your best bet, since it’s fairly new and not-terribly-confusing yet. But I’m now too lazy to look up a link, so just search for “alchemy.”
183 – That sounds great! We would definitely need a lot of rules, and I would like to tweak the proposal a bit, but we should definitely come up with an RPG like that. I agree with Alice, too, though – we already have a ton of RPGs.
This doesn’t fix the problem, but how about a cross between a(n) RPG and a(n) RRR? I have a few ideas for how that would work, but I have to go to dinner. Heh heh.
188 – I think we don’t have a fashion thread because no one has suggested one. Or if someone has, it didn’t get enough support. I’m fine with there being a fashion thread, but I won’t be visiting it at all frequently. My wardrobe consists of baggy Goodwill clothes and nothing else. Well, pretty much. Whatever.
A Mary Sue RPG sounds amazingly fun.
The description kind of reminds me of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.
Good guys, bad guys, and explosions, as far as the eye can see…
183- I second (third? fourth?) the notion.
196- isn’t a RPG/RRR cross a RPW?
199 – Yes, I actually just mistyped that – I meant an RPW/RRR cross.
195-Thanks a lot. I think I’ll go over to the RRR sometime tomorrow and read everything. You’ve been a great help!
179- Halloween would be fun.
197- But no sound in space, please!
183- I fourth the notion, or whatever it is.
Ok, well I’m going to leave for today! By all!
200-I asume a RRR written in letters?
A cliché RPG? Awesome.
204 – Actually, I was thinking of the other aspect of RPWs. Each person would have their own character, and everything they write has to have their character in it, but they can write dialogue with another character or something. That wouldn’t really work. But we can’t do a Mary Sue RPW, because then you never really experience their adventures, and there’s never an opportunity to discuss their physical appearance or anything.
205 – Well, not as much cliche as Mary Sue – the writing can be non-cliche. Just the characters and the general plotline.
Mary Sue! Halloween! MARY SUE! HALLOWEEN! MARY SUE! HALLOWEEN! MARY SUE!!!!!! HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!! MARY SUE!!!!!!! HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!
Too much?
194- depends on how much you want to be involved.
Majorly Involved: BA: The Next Generation
Mostly involved: MA, Steampunk Jungle
Medium involved: that RPG IBCF started, New RPG or whatever it is.
Don’t really care: Don’t join an RRR/RPG/RPW
We should have another bunny takeover. Wait, I didn’t say that. Forget I said that. Please.
Actually I think that’s a good idea. HALLOWEEN BUNNY TAKEOVER!!!!!!
Move out, Bunnies! into the tanks!
10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 s invade mb
We REALLY need the another Computer and Video Games thread. The current one has been here for a year and a half.
I mean, we REALLY do. Could you please answer my request? It’s not often that we keep a thread for over a year.
We should have a warriors thread! Look how many people were interested on the neophytes thread!!!
214- Yeah. Two people.
214-Pleeaassee, can we have a Warriors thread?
You (the GAPAs) should make a BA shirt. I know you probably have some kind of a policy against making items for specific RPGs, but to my mind BA is not just a regular RPG. It’s become somewhat of a legend on MB, and as far as I know it’s the only RPG which is mentioned in other RPGs. I don’t remember the exact wording and I’m too lazy to go look it up, but there was a discussion about BA at the May Day Ball, in character. I think that might mean that it’s a bit more well known than most RPGs.
So anyway, if you do decide to pay any attention to this post, we could have some kind of scene from BA or maybe the Resistance logo (does the Resistance have a logo?) on the front, and a list of all the people in BA (in order of appearance, so as not to hurt anyone’s feelings) on the back.
I know you’ll probably ignore me completely. It’s just a suggestion.
Yes! Warriors thread!
What happened to the people for the Mary Sue and Halloween RPGs? I still want them! They sound fun!
218, 219 – Let’s combined those three ideas and have a Mary Sue Warriors RPG that takes place on Halloween.
It’s not like it would be that much of a stretch. Most of the Warriors characters are Mary Sues anyways. (Sorry if that sounds slightly sarcastic. I really do love the books.)
220- That’s just… strange.
220- No, no Warriors!
what’s a mary sue? halloween RPG? I’m not getting this. could someone explain please?
Thank you for mentioning the May Day Ball, as it just gave me an incredible idea…
Let’s make the Muse Academy Ball biannual, with one on May Day and one on Halloween. The latter would obviously be masquerade, but other than that I have no specifics. Thoughts?
How about a Hogwarts RPG? Kinda like MA, except we have wands!
A MarySue-HalloweenAdventure might be good, but I think people would come and just post Halloween things. It would be too complex. Maybe not though.
General consensus is that there are already too many RPGs. And I think the MarySue should be a (short) RRR.
I have not read warriors, and do not think they deserve their own thread.
221 – It was meant to be.
222 – Yeah, I rather think we have enough RPGs going on right now.
Did my post about a Muse Academy Halloween Ball, in the spirit of the May Day Ball, go through? If not… it did now.
What’s a mary sue? Please someone tell me!
228- It did. I just didn’t see it. And YES, let’s! -is excited- I’ll be on the planning committee! I have tons of ideas.
225-That would be awesome!!!!!!!!!! I’d totally do it.
228-That would be cool, and I don’t really want to wait more that half a year to have the May Day Ball.
228- I’ll help! ^-^
220- Which characters are Mary Sues? Personally, I think Firestar is the only Mary Sue in the series.
229- A Mary Sue is basiccally someone who’s perfect, good looking, smart, funny, and belongs in Sparklypoo.
228-That would be great! The thing is, I’m not in Muse Academy. Is it to late to join?
228- It’s a great time to join. The main discussion is Kyra, Leafy, and me commuting to World Domination.
235- Anyone can join, anytime!
235- I believe applications are rolling. Like cheese wheels.
236- That’s the RPG. There’s a difference.
I have so many ideas for the Halloween ball. The entire point of masque balls is that no one knows who you are. Of course, that may be a little difficult over the ‘net, but I have an idea for how to manage it. You could take on the name of your costume, like “The Lady with the Feathered Headdress” or “The Gentleman in the Elizabethan Ruff” or even “The Lion” or maybe “George Washington.”
And then there’s the decorations…
Good, that’s a lot of support. Since it’s almost October, how about a planning thread now?
238- Cheese wheels? Ooh, I could go for one of those right now!
240- Yes! As long as we get a NaNo one at the same time!
239- Yes, it would be a similar system to the Alter Ego thread. Everyone wears “masks” (false blog names). The GAPAs might not have as much fun considering that they would be able to see our e-mail addresses… but I’m sure they could play along. They might even log out of their Administrator accounts and join the ball incognito.
The decorations… Since this is MA, it will obviously not be a standard Halloween bash. I’m envisioning a combination of 19th-century masque ball and quasi-Welsh Festival of Samhain. There will be candy, of course, but quality confections, not cheap department-store stuff. I’m sure the H&H could cater… they’ve always been admirably versatile. Eclairs galore. And vast quantities of hot apple cider for those coming in out of a chilly Icelandic autumn.
As for the music, perhaps an appropriately spooky and Celtic selection… “Black Jack Davy,” for example, among others.
243- I was imagining the same thing. How wonderful. Decoration-wise, I’m thinking jack-o-lanterns and tons of candles. At the Surreal Ball last year there was this huge silver basin with a bunch of tea lights in it. ‘Twas gorgeous.
We should have a fondue fountain. And cider, definitely. Maybe little tarts as well.
243- and a GIANT pumpkin! Carved with the Muse Academy Logo!
243- A Halloween Ball would be fun. Maybe we could add a mystery party element, too. Like a scavenger hunt with the decorations that you can choose to play or ignore, but the winner would get a reward.
I like this party more and more.
245- Love it! Maybe the Hon. Lady Bunniful could work her Photoshop magic to get a picture of it on the thread.
246- How could we arrange that, though? It would be hard to do a scavenger hunt when everything is virtual… if everyone was a good sport, we might pull it off.
247- Enough to give the Committee a thread of its own?
This sounds fun!
OK, I’ve decided on my costume. You’re going to love it.
250- I don’t have a costume yet.
251 – I don’t have a costume yet, either on- or off-blog.
I’m going to a Halloween party with A and T and K and B, and they’re all dressing up as the Clique Girls. Which, for obvious reasons, I refuse to go along with. But I’ll look completely silly if I’m something completely different and they’re all in Hollister clothing with perfectly painted nails.
252- Hollister clothing and painted nails are sort of…limp, when it comes to costumes. I mean, you see people in Hollister clothing every day!
This Halloween Ball sounds great! GAPAs????
Halloween masque ball sounds amazing! I think I’ll be attending.
250, 251, 252- I don’t have a costume off blog, but something is formulating itself in my head for on-blog. When it actually comes around, we can send in pictures of our costumes, right? This is just what I’m semi-formulating from my quick scrolls through the May Day thread, which I did not, sadly enough, participate in.
253- I’d have to say the same. And the clique girls didn’t wear Hollister anyway, they wore more expensive stuff, if that’s even possible. But from what I remember, mainstream brand names were not their thing.
Not that I would/should know that.
243-I love the mask idea!
I have a costume for both on and off blog!
This sounds like great fun.
Will we hold it in slow-time, like we did with the May Day Ball?
255- You can send pictures in… But do it semi-anonymously. Like, ask the GAPAs not to post a name.
I read Warriors and think it deserves a thread. My username is named after a Warrior Cat!!! I have read The New Prophecy Warriors:Midnight and am on the waiting list for Moonrise ( I think ) and the books are awesome!!!
253 – I know, that’s what I told them. When they’re trick or treating they’re just going to look like middle school/high school girls who decided to go trick or treating but didn’t bother to get costumes.
255 – Yeah, I know, but my friends aren’t going to spend a bajillion dollars on their costumes.
Warriors might work better as an RPG. We could be the unknown seventh clan, MuseClan. We could all make up our own cat characters and ave adventures.
I have an idea! Let’s have a thread not unlike the Alter Ego thread, but it would be called the Impostor thread! You could make your name another blogger’s and people would have to figure out whether you were the real thing! For example, I’m actually muselover.
And just to get this off my conscience, sorry for using your name, POSOC!
260 – If that were the case, I would most likely join that.
261 – Ditto.
261- Sounds like fun. And might help us remember each others names.
263- I want either that or a Lego thread!
A Maciavellian thread would be interesting, we discuss The Prince, and his other works, and talk about human pridictability, and be enjoyably pessimistic.
By the way, seconded on the lego idea, we couldpost pictures, as well as talk.
LOTR!
I know it’s October, but how about a MA Holiday Ball? Not for Christmas, not for Hannekuuh (I know I didn’t spelll that right. Ah well.), and not for Kwannza. We can decorate for all three, and any other religon. It’d just be for December. Purely for the joy of watching delicate crystals of ice slowly drift from the sky, drinking hot choklit, and building all manners of things made of snow. ^-^
268- You can spell Januka how ever you want to. I prefer to spell it with a spanish J.
269- Oh. Whoops.
We should have a “dissing hpb’s” thread!!!
Hmm. How about a driving thread? For all those teens out there who have yet to take their permit and liscence tests (like me)?
271- Eh, no.
261/262, muselover: OMG that would make my brain hurt so bad! For example, what if you actually are POSOC and you’re just trying to mess with my mind? Or if you’re someone else entirely and you’re just trying to mess with my mind?! Granted, the writing style does match up with muselover, but still…! *paranoid conspiracy theories*
Okay, okay. A thread like that would be pretty cool.
271, tigerstar: Why not diss Mr. Joe instead? With HPBs you run the risk of getting your face removed.
260- They already had an “unknown clan” thing. We should just join existing clans.
260&261- I like both!
276-There’s already been a Warriors RPG? But when I search for “warrior cats” in the search box it doesn’t find anything!
October 30th will be the 70th anniversary of Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds broadcast.
LOTR! Lord Of the Rings! PLEASE!
A looooong time ago we had a culture and heritage thread. I think it would be cool if we could have another one. Not a religions thread, mind you, but a thread where we could learn about other MBers backgrounds.
281- Ooh, I’d like that. ‘Twould be pretty awesome.
281- Thirded!
Fourthed!
(Zinc, are you home sick? I’m doing a research project on the Library computer.)
284- Nah, my district has the day off. *reclines* I’ll be on here ALL day, I suspect Leafygreen will be, too.
As Zinc said in 225, what about a Hogwarts RPG?
284- Indeed we do.
Hm… there should be an animal owners/lovers thread.
A sadness thread. People tell everyone else what depresses them. I have great need of one. Livvy…
‘Kay, guess that’s a no on 217.
278-Not on MB. You’ve read Firestar’s Quest, haven’t you?
Could we have a Childhood Lore thread? I think it would be really interesting to compare all the rhymes and songs and stuff we learned, and see how different they were in different parts of the country/world. My friends and I were singing a bunch in the car coming home from my soccer tournament, and we knew a ton of the same ones even though I was in California for most of my elementary schooling.
290- Ooh, that’d be cool. I second it!
281- Fifthed-thingy!
Could we have a travel thread? We could talk about places we’ve been, and places we want to go. Or “Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?”.
Or maybe a dreams thread. We can just talk about our dreams, funny ones, sad ones, creepy ones, and nightmares. Last night, I had 4 different dreams…
291 – I think we’ve had a dream thread before. And the morphing chameleon thread was about travel for a while, I believe.
I sixth the Culture thread in 281.
Culture thread!
Fashion thread!
271- Try Bunny Apocalypse–that’s more like “killing HPBs”, but same, really.
289-Oh, do you mean SkyClan? I thought Mogget’s Little Sister meant that that there has already been an “unknown clan” RPG on MuseBlog. Maybe we could be one of the Clans years after the end of the last series, when all of the series characters are dead and we are their descendants.
290- Thirded!
I need some more seconds and thirds for my Impostor thread!
296- Thirded, or whatever…. T_T
A physics thread would be nice.
All right, let’s just PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE do an Impostor thread and see how well it does. (It worked with MuseBlog Chess!)
(299) Sorry, muselover, we’ve discussed similar ideas in the past and, for various reasons, decided an Imposter thread was not a good idea. For starters, people frequently forget to change their names when they post on other threads, and GAPAs don’t have time to keep up with those sorts of corrections. It’s confusing enough with Alter Ego names, using other bloggers’ names would be even worse.
I second/third the dreams thread!
(291, 301) A Dreams thread is still open.
280–There is a LOTR thread here that is still open.
WHAT ABOUT THE WARRIORS THREAD? It can be an RPG or just a regular thread.
By the way, I still support the Mary Sue RPG.
300- Awww, OK.
304- I support both (although I barely even know Warriors; I just know enough to scrape by, like the Bible…)!
304- If there’s a Mary Sue thread, I’ll puke. Yes, that’s a bit harsh, but… well, on second thought, one does need to release a bit of cynicism here and there…..
I placed my comments for a couple’a new threads on the “Tricks or Treats 2” thread, or something like that. I ought to be comment 84/85? Once moderation gets to it.
We need a “Ways To Annoy People” thread. Parents, teachers, dentists, pizza guys…
Dearest GAPAs,
may I humbly request a Canadian thread? I think it would be fun. We can ask questions about that wondeful land and just talk about it in general. and I can quiz you guys.
sincerely,
Kagy
308- That’s a really good idea! I have loads of ’em with subs… hehehehe…
308- I third that. And to start, we can annoy the GAPAs until we get it! So can we have it? Huh? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can we?
310- One of my favorite sub techniques: insist your name is pronounced in a very weird fashion, i.e. Susanne Thomson becomes Soosahneh Thoohmsohn.
As Hypatia and myself mentioned back in the spring, November 9th is Carl Sagan’s birthday. P*ease can we have a birthday thread?
Lack of new interesting threads for four days sooooooo boring without new threads.
How about a revision of song lyrics thread? We choose a song and twist its lyrics to our liking, preferably Muse related. It would be fun!
314 – Yes! Yay for parodies!
Vote Counter for the Song Parody Thread (Henceforth known as VCFPT)-
Me
Rainbowstar
Leafygreen (?)
First, the new colours are really nice! I approve.
Second, maybe a new Hot Topics thread? That would be nice.
Song Parody Thread gets my vote!
The LotR thread is still open.
Thread ideas I support:
-Warriors RPG
-Ways To Annoy People
-Urban Legends (I know a lot of urban legends)
Foreign languages thread? People can post in other languages and try to figure out how to type accent marks!
320- See Coy Woodnesse.
I support-
Ways to Annoy People
Urban Legends
A Muppets thread (Ah, c’mon, just try it!!)
321 – Urban legends sounds like a great idea to me.
WARRIORS WARRIORS WARRIORS!!!! GO WARRIORS RPG!!!!!!!!!!!
Also ways to annoy people.
Has anyone but me been on the LotR thread?
Vote Counters:
Warriors RPG: Rainbowstar, LadyG, Zinc the sorceress, tigerstar, Kokonilly, Random Kokopelli (6 people)
Urban Legends: Rainbowstar, Tesseract, Zinc the sorceress (3 people)
Ways To Annoy People: Rainbowstar, Zinc the sorceress, Piggy (3 people)
Sorry for the double post. I didn’t see that LadyG supported the Ways To Annoy People thread, so actually, four people support it.
GAPAs, I think a Warriors RPG would be in order?
A Harry Potter RPG or just a magic school kind of thing would be cool. I would do a Warriors thread too.
7 votes for Warriors!
327- Hey, didn’t I suggest that? Ah well, another vote.
A Muppets thread! Pleeeeeeeeze??????
Lord of the Rings would make a cool discussion/possible RPG thread.
We prefer to keep RPGs in the Musiverse, please. The rare exceptions have been MuseBlog originals (such as the RPG alternative) and some MuseBlog RPGs that allowed characters from history and/or fiction. Some examples can be found here and here.
331 – So, does that mean no Warriors?
331- Aw, man!
But what about the Mary Sue cliche RPG?
331- Wow. That must have bee loooads of fun.
331- Awwww. Come on! We wouldn’t use actual characters, just the basic idea of the four Clans etc. We could set it way in the past/future with no present Warriors characters. Pleeeeeeeease, pretty please??????
Oh, and I think a Holiday Party would be fun. No costumes or anything, but everyone dresses up fancy. We could start it either the 1st of December or Thanksgiving, or something. It would just be a fun way to celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, etc., or even just winter.
333- I think a fifth house was in the plans at MA once. But who knows, architecture gets funny sometimes there, it might exist!
I would like to suggest a custom 404 error page. The one we have now is boring, and that’s not in the spirit of Coontz house! (I’m in Baker, but I sympathize.) This would probably be a small project for a GAPA, but it’s not that hard, I’ve done it before! It would be fun, you could have a picture of an hpb, and maybe a ghastly quote (dread phrase?). I’m sure MBers would reference it all the time.
At a second glance, it appears that there was a 404 error page, but it is not being loaded, due to an ironic second error:
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
335-Hannukah rox my sox. Just saying.
What is all this talk of a Mare Sue RPG? I think I missed the whole conversation of the whole idea of it.
(336) Vendaval, that reminds me of the fun I had yesterday trying to track down some information on a software site. When I tried to register, I got an error message which said: “this email address is already in our database.” Then I tried to log in. The password that came to mind didn’t work, so I clicked the “forgot your password?” prompt, only to receive another error message:”this email address is not in our database.”
(337) Syllabub, try posts 158 and following, then 183 and following. That should give you an idea.
(338) Rebecca, something like that happened to me the other day too! Luckily I had emailed myself the information and found it eventually, but for a while all I could think of was Catch-22.
Oo, I have a suggestion. We need a new suggestion box!
Last post of the night. G’night everyone!
At one point, I suggested that for the Warriors RPG we could be one of the Clans many years in the future, when all of the series characters are dead and we are their descendants. Would that be okay?
(335, 341) Rather than repeat myself, I will direct you to comment 331. This is MuseBlog, not a Warriors fan page.
If we can’t have a Warriors thread, could we have an Urban Legends thread or a Ways To Annoy People thread? Several people seem to support those.
(336) A fifth house? Do you mean Sparklypoo? That might have been a good place for the fantasy-students on the Muse Academy RPG threads.
What does everyone think of the holiday party? We could have it just like the halloween ball except without costumes!
Can we have a new suggestion thread?
Can we have Ways To Annoy People?
Oh, and I have an idea. We can have an RPG where the characters come out of a bunch of different books and movies, and have them on like an island or trapped in an enemy fortress!
345- I support everything.
345- A holiday party sounds okay, if it wouldn’t be too much trouble for the GAPAs.
I don’t mind, as long as someone can persuade Helga Gunnarsdóttir not to make any hors d’oeuvres involving puffins.
Maybe we could have one party per season.
Fall: Halloween
Winter: Winter Holidays
Spring: May Day
Summer: Moon Landing Day or something?
345-LadyG, I just noticed your post. I also suggested having one, but on the Leaf Pile. Are you responding to it, or did we just have the same idea?
Either way, it sounds like at least three musers have voted for it, and the GAPAs don’t mind… yay! When should we start planning? It’s the eleventh, and I second starting it on the first. I don’t have a suggestion for ending time. We can decide that on the planning thread.
Well, Mr. Coontz, I’m sure we can confiscate the Puffin Puffs if need be. Either that, or hide them in the wungs’ lounge room.
Oh, and the only rule I suggest right now is this: absolutely no Hot Pink Bunnies! That does include attacks and chaos causing appearances. It does not include brief mentions of the Luciferian Leporines.
349- Really nice idea! Summer: Over the top, completely flambloyent, anything goes ball?
349- May Day’s to close to summer. Valintine’s day, any one?
352- That’d be awesome!
C’mon, how about a Muppets thread?
You remember IBCF’s newpaper (that rocked)? What if we had a thread of people posting blog news?
350- Great minds think alike! I had the idea without even seeing your post!!!
Could we have a planning thread? P*ease?
A Mary Sue RPG would be pretty cool.
What about another Homeschool thread? I’d be interested to see how many other homeschoolers are on the blog (other than myself)
There are so many RPGs/RRRs. No more, please!
GAPAs, where’s the planning thread? I thought we agreed on that…
I, too, stand by a Mary Sue RPG.
Book/Movie Characters RPG!!!
Yes, I know I’ve been posting like crazy today. Our pwnsome private school lets us have a day off today!!! Therefore I am extremely bored.
I like the Mary Sue idea. Also the Newspaper thread and the Muppets thread.
A Mary Sue RPG sounds fun, but I’m not sure I could write a Mary Sue character. All of my character tend to be somewhat neurotic.
A Eragon thread would be cool.
BA-editing thread, pleasepleaseplease?
WHAT I SUPPORT:
Mary Sue/Gary Stu RPG.
Muppets.
Newspaper.
Book/Movie Characters RPG.
Worries/Woes
362- Sorry, Mole, but as Lady B. said a while back, no specific book/movie threads (unless the discussion takes over a thread; then they have to create a new one.).
I support everything Zinc supports. Plus Ways To Annoy People. Zinc, I can’t believe you didn’t mention that…
365: Oh, I forgot! I support that too.
I support everything Zinc supports.
Yipee, I’m a people person!
An Video game Cartoon thread would be nice.
You know, cartoons like AOSTH, Sonic Underground, Sonic X, Sonic Rushed(*), and Kirby: Right Back at Ya!.
(*) Is not a real cartoon, but should. And May be soon.
*is pwn’d by SSBB Pwn Ray*
We need a thread to decide on colors for each month…
A “We’re smart so…” thread!
GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD!GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! GARFIELD THREAD! We need a new Alchemy thread…………. Please?
Garfield?… *puppy dog face* *pouts* P*ease? P*ease? P*ease?
(372, 374) We’ve already answered this one a couple of days ago. As we’ve said numerous times before, apart from special, very rare exceptions, we don’t make threads devoted to single comics, movies, novels, &c. They’re too specialized.
Ways To Annoy People thread? Please?
(373) Do you have a plot summary or a compiled story of some kind? The reality is, it’s not easy to get new people involved in existing RRRs; few people are willing to go back and pick through all the comments to decipher the story. It might help to be prepared with a synopsis to kick off a new thread.
(376) This idea has been suggested in various forms. The occasional comment is one thing, but we don’t consider a thread devoted to the topic as being in the Muserly spirit. Anyway, what’s the point of devoting energy to annoying people when world domination awaits?
I want to try a RRW thread. I’ll TRY not to be outlandish with my writing. I’ll try VERY hard, I PROMISE!
377) Okey dokey! Will do! I’ll post it on the Alchemy thread…..
May I join Alchemy, if that’s possible?
I’ve noticed that when links don’t work, they take you to a page that says “Error 404 – Page Not Found”. Would it be possible to have that page say something funny like, “Sorry, this page is being used for pie war practice” with a bunch of pie-throwing people, or “This page has been taken over by HPBs” with a bunch of bunnies? This was not my idea, it was somebody else’s, but I’m too lazy to find the post.
I think there should be a Current Events thread! What does everyone else think?
I like both of your ideas!
377- Annoy people enough and you can provoke them into doing things beneficial to your plans for world domination.
Current Events thread? Please?
I suggest more winter-y colours. It is December, after all.
(386) The sad fact is I completely forgot about the colors. Hmm. What goes well with doughnuts?
386–What would more wintery colours be? All that is popping into my head is white (which wouldn’t work too well )…. I s’pose we could do Christmas colours of green and red……or are there any colours specifically associated with Hannukah? cuz if so, those could be combined with christmas colours, so as to pacify all……Anyway.
387- Well, a nice tall glass of milk does, but I think white’s not the most imaginative colour in the world. I was thinking a few shades of icy blue and silver, but anything winter-related will do. Although I will miss the orange and purple…
387–milk. which is also white….
Well, I’ve been matching them up with colors from the graphics, which has blue in the background in this case.
Icy blue and silver would be nice.
New 404-Error page? Pie/Koko smileys?
Does anyone else want a current events thread? If so POST HERE!
A “funny captions” thread would be nice.
Rep. Pigzo- “395- I second.”
P.O.- “A motion to a funny captions thread has been proposed and seconded. All in favor?”
How about a Pets thread? We could discuss the pets we have, used to have, or would like to have.
w00t.
396- Funnily caption what pictures?
399- Any. All. Possibly a new one each week, or something.
400- Any pictures, with delinkified links if necessary.
401: That’d be fun.
395 – Like LOLcats? That would be fun. Except we wuold use better grammar, this being MuseBlog.
403- LOLcat grammar is supposed to be “incorrect”. That’s what makes it correct. kthxbai
Can we have a Books in 5 Sentences thread? In an issue of Muse there was a contest where you had to sum up a book (or movie) in a short amount of space. Of course, spoiler warnings would apply to the thread, but I think it would be really fun.
405- I believe you can do that over at the book parodies thread, though that is not its exclusive purpose. It’s kind of dead, too, but that’s all the more reason to go post on it.
404–but it’s so annoying. And my bio lab teaching assistant seems to be addicted to sticking at least one cat pic from the thing in every powerpoint presentation he gives. And the grammar is so bad half the time I don’t get what the heck they’re tryign to say until I read three or four times…..I don’t get the pull of the things (and also, I’d never even heard of the blasted thing before his presentations)
I like the funny captions idea. Maybe the GAPAs could pick a new picture every month or week, or maybe any MuseBlogger could post one.
Funny Captions Thread Vote Counter:
KaiYves
Piggy
Zinc the sorceress
Rainbowstar
(408) We aren’t rejecting the idea out of hand, but right now is not a good time for any thread ideas that require extra work for GAPAs.
Current events thread? Do I have any support on this??
But they’re so funny, and so cute! And they can be like riddles, tough to figure out!
(Also, I do not understand your word usage, “the pull of the things”?)
411–the draw, the attraction. I don’t get it. Sure, some are funny, but they would be funnier if you didn’t have to spend forever translating horrendous grammar/spelling.
How about a website recommendation thread? We could recommend websites we like.
413–wouldn’t that require a lot of work from the GAPAs, though? I mean, wouldn’t they have to screen our sites to make sure there was anything to horrible on them?
414 – Good point. Okay, forget that idea.
414- Say, they aren’t entirely that bad. I’m not exactly in favor of the idea for the thread, but you can’t really say the grammar/spelling is an issue, it’s usually only a sentence long…
413- Gosh, if it weren’t for the GAPA-screening issue, and the fact that we are technically not supposed to link on MB anyway, I would really like that idea. -.-
HOGWARTS RPG!!!
Enough said.
(417) See comment 331.
418- But that would be so cool!!!
how about another random factoids thread? Maybe Bo can come!
SFTDP-Even if we can’t have a Hogwarts RPG, we should still get another new RPG or adventure in the musiverse. A lot of the ones I like are dying (RPG Alternative, Round Robin Smileys, Muse Scouts, though hopefully thats not quite dead yet)
By the way, the original suggester of a special error page was Vendaval, comment 336.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Guys, stop arguing with the OEADs. You can’t post links to other sites, and they have no time to check everything that we have suggested. And what’s wrong with the RPGs we have? If you say, “They’re dead,” think about how any new ones will die as well. Our marvelous Admin team is very busy doing Muserly things. I would like these things as much as any of you, but it’s just not ideal, not now anyway. Thanks.
Does anyone want a Pets thread?
Anyone at all?
Can we have a thread where people tell why they chose their blognames and give helpful suggestions to those who are changing theirs ? That way people just need to peek in to see who’s changed their name (really confusing).
425- That would give the impression that we support name changes, which I, for one, do not.
I suggest breathing.
Good advice! Thanks.
247- are you sure? I’ve heard it’s not for everybody. I don’t know if I want to take the risk….
Okay, so no one seems to want a Pets thread. *abandons idea*
GAPAs could we have a thread like [Deleted link.] The link is there as an example for you to see, not to be posted as the entire place is a place where personal information could be gathered. I really think the idea is good though.
The rules:
1. Each person tells a true story from their own experience. (Obviously, we can’t tell if you’ve made things up. That is between you and your conscience.)
2. Keep it brief; we’re looking for vignettes and koans, not epics
3. Each story has to be linked to a previous anecdote by some shared concept, some common theme or element.
4. Cite the element you’ve used as a link. Try to go for solid links: physical objects, specific words (punning encouraged).
5. This is a multi-stranded string of pearls. A single story can spawn more than one successor, and an anecdote can combine more than one antecedent.
6. Poetry is, of course, encouraged
7. Do I need to mention that this is a non-political thread? If your story is political, try not to make it partisan.
is the rules, copy pasted from where they originally appear. (In case the GAPA reading this wishes to not bother to go to the link I give and just post this sans link)
Oh. and to add to my previous post it’d be cool if a GAPA started us off.
(431/432) Sounds workable. Right now I’m trying desperately to get to bed, but I’ll be happy to set this up tomorrow, if another GAPA doesn’t get to it before then.
433- ooh awesome! Thanks Rebecca!
Oh mighty GAPAs, could we have a thread for the discussion of the future of the Earth? I have been inspired by reading thy wonderful excerpt of “The World Without Us” as well as the book in it’s entirety, which pwns greatly.
Can we have a muse blog philosophical society ?
A thread where everyone tries to come to philosophical / nonsensical conclusion about the strange ways of the MB ?
436- Yes. Yes. Yes. But wait — “nonsensical conclusion”? Philosophy, at least classical philosophy, is based purely on logic and reasoning. Without sense, philosophy is garbage. And couldn’t it just be about philosophy? Not just the meaning of MB? My philosophy club only meets once a week, but I don’t like waiting that long.
435- Ooh! It could be called the “Village Green Preservation Society”! (25 Wung points to whomever can identify the source of the name.)
437- The kinks, i believe.
438- Good job. Here are your Wung points. And if you want them to be useful, go to the lounge and revive that thread.
437) But we need some sort of topic ! Otherwise we’ll end up talking about *shudder* the meaning of life and serious stuff !
The whole point of the thread would be find philosophical conclusions to ridiculous subjects with crazy theories and arguments. I don’t want it to become like the religion thread where people battle with serious arguments.
440- That’s the point of philosophy. Time wasting is fun, but serious thinking is intrinsic to the nature of every Muser. If you want to have fun, go pie someone or something. I think, with this many great minds, some great discussions could happen. And it wouldn’t have to be “the meaning of life”. There’s a lot of thought-provoking discussion on how much society determines who we are and stuff like that. “The meaning of life” just gets too religious.
We know the meaning of life. that’s 42. we just don’t know the Question
I’ll second the Future Earth and Philosophy threads.
Please?
442- The serious one or the ridiculous one?
443) The only thing in life you need to tale seriously is being ridiculous !
442- Serious.
Or both.
You should have a Doctor Who thread. (in case you don’t know, Doctor Who is a T.V. show)
SFTDP, but I support the Mary Sue RPG idea! Who else does?
I SUPPORT DOCTOR WHO!!!
I also support the Doctor Who thread.
As we’ve said numerous times before, we are highly unlikely to make threads for individual shows, books, or movies. We could do television or science fiction shows or something, whereon you could talk about the good Doctor. But not tonight. Too much else to keep up with at the moment.
Sci-Fi!
Oh, and I support the Mary Sue RPG thread idea. But for the life of me I can’t find where it originated.
(And, yes, not tonight, GAPAs. It’s New Year’s Eve! Go have fun, GAPAs. )
Yay!
WE COULD HAVE A T.V THREAD! OR A SCI-FI THREAD!!!
*JOY *
SFTDP, but
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!
I support the Mary sue role playing game, sci-fi thread, and we could have a po po thread, so if you are so bored that you could explode, you post on the po po thread!!!
YAY! SCI-FI THREAD! Or, to get even more fine, we could have a Trekkies (spelling?) Vs. Jedis blog, and have endless wars about which is better!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!! (insert dramatic fireworks here)
453- Try “Ctrl F” to use the Find function in Firefox.
456- Hello PianoGeek! It appears that you’re relatively new, here’s a link to The Place to Ask Questions If You Are Confused.
456- Trekkers and Star Wars fans actually get along very well most of the time. Lucas and Roddenberry were really good friends. The whole rivalry idea is pretty much a creation of the media.
Any other supporters of The Village Green Preservation Society?
me.
Actually, the name was sort of a joke, but if you like it, go ahead and keep it. And we need to resolve the logical/nonsensical philosophy thread argument.
((SFTDP))
Is there any sort of psychic abilities / ESP thread? ‘Cause I think I may have ESP, to a small extent. Maybe it’s just my imagination. Maybe it’s just my overabundant mirror neurons.
This is random, but are the colours going to be changed on MB for January?
(462) Regarding colors, yes, they probably will change. Just didn’t have time to mess with them last night after making up for the Photoshop crash.
i like colors.
we need a sarcasm thread!! i really don’t like being sarcastic though. i dont understand quite how people know when someone is being sarcastic or not. i think it migh have something to do with the tone of voice but i’m really not sure.
436- Yikes. Photoshop crash? Definitely not very fun or useful for time management. I’ve been bugging you a lot lately, haven’t I? I apologize.
461-I do like the name! Also, regarding the serious vs. ridiculous philosophy thread, I see no reason why both cannot coexist peacefully. If impossible, however, I suggest a serious philosophy thread.
464- I don’t think an entire thread devoted to sarcasm would last very long, if at all. You can’t have a thread on that sort of subject.
It was hard enough composing a Stupid Senseless Sarcastic Smiley Story.
youre right. i dont think it would make much sense or last very long. oh well.
No. A sarcasm thread would not provide enough material. It would probably just fizzle away and take up valuable space. However, I do like sarcasm!
468- Wow. That’s hard to read. I couldn’t imagine how hard it would’ve been to write.
You know what? We need a new Suggestion Box for 2009.
