On Saturday, 28 June 2008, some unidentified suspicious-looking characters appeared on the Washington Mall.

Hmm. They appear to be Mostly Harmless…

…or not.

Also, Lady B. forgot to post this bit of documentation her Friday the 13th meeting with Red-tailed HAWK. In the background are HAWK’s famous gardens.

Hey! Thanks for putting these up!
(first post?!)
Cool! Wish I could’ve been there…
Nice haircut, Fiddler!
And nice gardens, too, HAWK…
I must say, the contrast in height between the male members of the kokon and the female members is astonishing and slightly amusing. It almost looks like two different pictures taken at different scales and then morphed together.
(Please bear in mind that the above is not meant as an insult in any way.)
(1) My pleasure. I can’t believe I forgot to take an appropriate Kokon photo while I was at the Fiddler homestead. *pie-for-brains*
2~ It’s entirely unfair. Both HAWK and Robert are unusually tall, while I and Meow both are a bit “vertically challenged.” I agree though, it is amusing to see the contrast. Remember the pictures of the Mini-kokon in DC last fall/winter? I felt so very short with all these tall people around. *sigh*
Frightening coincidences.
With the new pictures in, do you still think we look like twins?
3~ Ah well, that’s fine. I do wish we could have gotten one of the hair coloring though, that looked so lovely on you!
It looks like you had a great time! I’m sure you scared the masses
Who is who?
4- We only look like twins from certain angles. Second and third pics, yes, if you ignore the hair. The other pics, not so much.
By the way, I love your skirt (and shirt).
The trouble with t-shirts that say things on the back is that my hair covers it up. I’m going to get it made a little shorter eventually, but I’m not sure when.
-5 yep. it turns out they weren’t mostly harmless.
Yay! Thank you GAPAs!
I’m the boy who’s slightly shorter than Robert. Robert is, well, Robert, the tallest guy. Midnight Fiddler has the skirt and HPB shirt. Meow has the green shirt.
And yes, I’m the goofy guy trying not to laugh while facing straight into the giant blower. Heehee, I think I really scared people that time. Between the hair and the funny face, I can’t decide which is worse…
But it was SOOO refreshing. Wow.
And the last picture gives you a glimpse of my gardens. I really ought to send some more pictures of it. Especially since everything is about three times as big as when Lady B. was here!
If you can’t tell from the pictures, we had a great time. We’d have more pictures, but we were trying not to stop every two seconds for pictures
Red-tailed HAWK

you guys looked like you had tons of fun…
You guys are lucky. I’ve been to DC once, and it was a short visit, so we didn’t do much. Great pics though!
7~ Yeah, but still, it’s close enough! I wore the skirt because I figured it would be cooler, it did slow me down a bi in the footraces though. Otherwise I may just have beaten HAWK, although he’s very fast.
9~ We only stopped every 10 seconds (instead of 2) to get pictures!! At least in the beginning.
The blower was GLORIOUS to stand in front of, ahh, air! I probably could have stood there all day.
Argh. Must…plan…kokon…
Hi!
14- Hi!
We’ew having a Kokon! No pictures, though.
16- No pictures?
17- I think they’re friends. Southren CA Kokon, anyone?
Looks like lots of fun. Wish I were there.
On a random note, Midnight Fiddler looks oddly like me. Whatever.
Kokon in Oklahoma? or North New England for the next while?
19~ I look like you too? Wow, freaky. Now I’m a triplet with Alice and the Insane Blue Sage…..
*contains jelousy*
even if there were a kokon near enough to me to go, my parents would probably think it was too sketchy to meet with people met on the ‘net and never let me near. *grumblegrumble*
Looks like fun! Wish I could’ve been there…ah well, maybe next summer. Midwest kokon, anyone?
19- How far North?
Hhhmmm… It would be awesome if we had a Kokon somewhere central, like in the middle of the US. So more people could come. But it would involve more driving. Or flying or whatever. But I think us California MBers would be made happy by a Kokon slightly farther west.
Wish I was there! And where was that blower thing? And why was it there?
The middle of the U.S. — like, say, Muse, Oklahoma?
Wait…can someone say who the ppl in the 1st pic are, left to right?
25- more Like Chicago. Any way to Get into Muse? (Passwords?)
Fun! Fun! Fun!
That looks. (forgive the disjointed sententences; I am just so jealous!
You know what might be fun to do at a kokon. If some of the people attending don’t have their pictures on the blog yet, you could disclose only your regular names at the beginning and, after ten or so minutes, make everybody guess as to who everybody else is based on personality!
25- I’ve been trying to convince my parents to go there… ‘Tis diffucult, since there really is nothing there, but a national forest famous for Bigfoot sightings. THere are only 200 people there after all…
23- North East Vermont? I’m only here for 2 more weeks though.
I want a kokon so badly…
30 – So do I. But I just had one yesterday. And the day before that. So I should shut up now. *shuts up*
Oh, and I can attend a Kokon in Chicago July 20 – August 8… maybe. Depends.
Ooooh, looks like fun! THERE NEEDS TO BE A KOKON IN THE NH/MA AREA!!!!!!!
yes, we need to have one in Chicago in July. So Kokonilly can be there too. I wonder how many MBers are in the Chicago area? It’s in the Midwest too…
21- My parents are the same way. All this talk of Kokons makes one jealous
(35, 21) One thing the photos don’t show is that three parents were also there. (They were all taking pictures.)
36- Oh yeah…
so if you tell your parents that they can come too, and there will even be more parents there…
If we could meet at one of the museums that would be much better…
Chicago? I could probably make it there. I’ll be in Wisconsin in August, and i go through Chicago….that may be a possibility.
26~ From left to right are Robert, Red-tailed HAWK, Cat’s Meow and Midnight Fiddler (me).
24~ The blower was part of the NASA display, I think it was for explaining blower noise reduction or something, but in our half cooked state we saw it more as a nice way to get a bit of air….and it felt glorious indeed, aaahhhhhhhhh.
36~ I did get a picture of the parents taking pictures of Meow and I on the carousel, but I guess they didn’t get sent in, or just not posted. Whatever. In any case, they were there and seemed to have a bit of fun at least.
(Many, many thanks to the HAWKs for having me along.)
California kokon? (somewhere san francisco-ish? san jose-ish?) I WANT A KOKON!!!!!!!!
though I won’t be here July 30th (or 31st) through August 6th (or 7th) so we could have one either August 8th, or in July.
30:
*coughcoughcough*
*ahem*
28 – That would be fun!
My family is still deciding where to go on vacation this summer, so I’m not sure, but I might be in northern California or the Portland area of Oregon for a week. Anybody up for kokons in those places?
If anybody happens to be passing through Kentucky, let me know so we can kokonvene! This state needs more Museness.
39- Maybe, NAPOI, it just might work. I live in Orange County, CA. We need more people though…
42- PORTLAND. PORTLAND. PORTLAND. But…when?
I could go to one in either Cincinnati or Chicago…
Well, I’ll be in CTD. Not sure if I can get out of the dorm.
Will keep you posted.
44- Hey, that’s not fair! You’ve already been to one! California, anyone? Pweez?
41-I see you almost every day, Brendan! It’s not really a kokon!
AXA! KOKON!
36- maybe…. i suppose that might relieve their fears a tad. perhaps. not at all.
of course, my opinion is biased right now because of the way they have been behaving this weekend.grrr.
I could try, i suppose, if there was to be one my parents considered to be within reasonable driving distance….
Does anyone here go to the Milwaukee Irish Fest? I may be there, and it’s definitely a big gathering so I don’t think the GAPAs would have a problem with me posting this. Anyway, I’ll be in the area on those dates whether I go to the Irish Fest or not.
39 – They both work for me! But not this July because I’ll be gone all month.
47 – Yessssssssssssss!
42 – Northern CA! But I’ll probably miss you anyways.
Kokons are exciting.
42- I live in Southern CA! I could beg my parents to let me go. Also, I’m going to Oregan from Aug. 4-11.
Midnight Fiddler: It just occurred to me that you look exactly like someone I know…WEIRD! Well, I know en isn’t you, because en doesn’t live near DC, but still: WEIRD!
43, 52, 53-CA kokon? It would be nice…
I can only go out of the dorm with a buddy. I can only leave campus with an adult.
When you guys meet on Kokons, do you call each other by blognames or real names?
Depends on how well you know the other person. For example, I call MARFwarrior Summer, but Beatlesrockr will probably address me as Kokonilly.
On last year’s Aug. 10th Kokon we all used blognames, but I’m not sure about the others.
59- We did. The grownups didn’t, but then, they can’t know how it works.
55- Yes it would. *sigh*
57~ Like Panda said, the first one we used blog names, but our parents didn’t. It was rather strange because I don’t think I really know anyone’s real names until we started writing down emails. (And even then HAWK only wrote his email, with no name!)
But as I’ve been to more Kokonventions, and most of the with HAWK, I’ve gotten more used to hearing him called by his real name, and he usually just calls me Fern.
I think a big factor in what name to use is how easy to say the blogname is, and if it can be shortened into something usable in normal conversation. (Beavo, Panda, Parilius, Alice, Meow, come to mind as easy to remember and use.)
Long answer, sorry….
anyone from MA?
Kokon!
63-We could do one with both of us and some more people…
44 – I’m not sure when since we still haven’t even officially chosen the destination. If we do decide on Portland *crosses fingers*, I’ll let you know the week as soon as it’s arranged. Hopefully it’ll work out!
45 – Yay, Cincinnati is close enough to maybe work for me! When?
65- Anytime between August 7 and August 20 won’t work, Actually August 20 might…
61 – I’m leaving for CO a week from tomorrow, but I’ll be back Aug 7. Aug 8-19 I’ll be available, but school starts the 20th.
Any of those dates work?
43-Who else? CTN? I’m sure some people would love to meet you in real life…
Can you ask your parents? Just make sure they know that there IS someone you actually know there…
2 – HEY! (reads last sentence) Oh.
6 – Going off of the second picture, from left to right: Robert, RtH, me, MF.
26 – See above.
36 – And buying us food.
54 – It seems that everyone looks like MF!
57 – We debated that, actually. I usually use blognames, but I’m more like to respond to *insert real name here* then Meow if I’m not paying attention.
60 – Yeah, exactly. With you it happens to be easy, though.
62 – Yeah, that too. Alice and Hawk are fairly easy to say, but Midnight Fiddler and IBCF are a bit more awkward.
69~ It does seem like everybody looks like me….hmm, or maybe I look like everybody? Who knows.
One gets used to the blog names.
Names: Meow was pretty easy to say, and HAWK usually works, but in some circumstances it’s rather awkward. I think that’s why people usually shorten my name to “Fiddler” or call me by my real name, Fern. I was always surprised when your Dad called you [realname] at the Kokon….and the first time I heard HAWK’s real name I about fell over.
70- Yeah, we were in the elevator at the kokon, and Meow’s dad called her by her real name, and I’m just like, “Who? Oh, Meow.”
71~ It’s strange. I think I was more shocked at HAWK though, because when he gave me his email at the first Kokon. he didn’t write down his real name, then when we wrote back and forth he signed off with his blog name. And the emails came from his Mom’s name…..so the first time I found out what his real name was I almost fell over, I’d gotten so used to just knowing him as Red-tailed HAWK.
And most bloggers already know what my real name is, so they can call me that too.
For some reason though, I don’t think it would be that hard to adjust to your name, seeing as it’s the same on the blog and in person.
Re: Portland Kokon
It’s not going to happen for me this summer, unfortunately. My family’s summer vacation is off because the library is too understaffed for my mom to take a week off right now (it’s summer reading time, so the library is super busy). We decided to go in the fall or winter instead so that we can do college visits and vacation at the same time. If we look at Oregon’s state U., then I will be in or around Portland, but otherwise I won’t be there after all. Sorry it didn’t work out!
72 – Yeah, Alice’s name was rather easy to get used to.
My dad can never remember IBCF’s name, though, so I sometimes have to call him by his real name so my dad knows who I’m talking about.
I don’t suppose there’s even a slight chance of the ******* kokon by now, is there?
I’m 99.999% sure there isn’t, but I’m so used to spontaneity that it’s hard for me to understand that with almost two weeks until the kokon it’s too late to re-establish our plans.
Ergh.
Who’s who? I recognize RtH and Robert…
Beavo-The girl with the HPB shirt is MF, the girl with the green shirt is CM.
Red-tailed HAWK

Oh my! Red-tailed Hawk! You like gardening? So COOL! What kinds of plants do you have?
People I know of in CA:
Me
Zinc
NAPOI
Anyone else?
Dates I could come:
Aug 8-19
CA people….I’d like to meet other MBers in person!
Is anyone up for a CT kokovention? or a MA one?
who lives in CT besides me? or in MA?
79-as you can see, I am on the opposite coast from you
oh well
CHICAGO KOKON, ANYONE? BETWEEN JULY 20 AND AUGUST 8 ON A WEEKEND?
CHICAGO KOKON? Kokonilly will be in the area, and we were thinking about a kokon prolly at one of the museums, can anybody else come?
At a museum? I’ll need to know where our mini-field trips are first. I’ll tell you.
83-Ok, wherever.
84 – Will keep in touch.
80-I’m in MA! So is Brendan! Kai is in NY! MissSwann is in NH! I also think MLS might be around here!
August 18 and 19 I’ll be in and around the Chicago/Milwaukee area. If anyone wants to get together then, I could probably talk my parents into a Kokonvention, they are very excited about Muse, MuseBlog, and Kokonventions.
86- MLS is in Oregon!
Has nobody responded? Not even a GAPA?
KOKONVENTION BETWEEN JULY 20 AND AUGUST 8. ON A WEEKEND. TO SOMETHING LIKE THE SHEDD AQUARIUM OR THE FIELD MUSEUM. ANYONE? ANYONE AT ALL???
88-I forget! I was being forgetful!
Yeah, I’m in Oregon!
I have relatives on the east coast, though.
79: EEEE I’ll be in CA for that time!!! Yay! I’ll be doing nothing except hanging around with relatives and going to Disneyland for two days. What part of CA?
Chicago sounds fun! Alas, during most of those dates, I shall be on a road trip not in Chicago. I remember loving the Shedd Aquarium though. Have fun!
My CA dates have been extended. I am now here Aug 4 – 19.
Zinc?
NAPOI?Oh wait, aren’t you AthenianPsycho now? Sorry. But are either of you here?I’ve been to the Shedd Aquarium before, too!
I’m not going with my family. I’m going to CTD, so all of those places are mini-field-trips.
80:
MA kokon!!!
91 – I’m in the Bay Area, but I’ll ask my mom if we can drive down somewhere.
Monterey Bay Aquarium?
Well I’m SoCal so I don’t think it’s gonna work out for me at least…course I don’t think there’s a very great chance of me being able to attend a Kokon anyway…sigh.
Are we going to have the NYC Kokonvention we were talking about before? Because I’m done with camp and pretty much free.
Ehhh.
I’m taking a trip to New York next year…I hope.]
And I get a cruise on Thanksgiving week!!! Yayy!! There just might be Musers there…but I won’t have computer…for a week…
Cake. Even if there were a Kokon near enough to me to go, my parents might not let me go…
Anyway, who lives in Florida? Anywhere close to Orlando?
Detroit Kokon? Anything out of the state and I’m toast. But I reeeally want to go to a kokon! REALLY BAD! REEEEALLLY BAD!
NEED FLORIDA KOKON.
PREFERABLY ORLANDO KOKON.
I’m taking a vacation this year, and probably won’t meet up with any Musers…probably.
Next year’s Kokons? I’m probably going to NYC next year.
Sooo…Central Park Kokon?
EVANSTON, ILLINOIS KOKON?
*sends telegram to all Musers*
SOS STOP SOS STOP NEED FLORIDA KOKON STOP ANYONE STOP PLEASE ANSWER STOP I REALLY NEED A KOKON STOP PLEASE STOP
Anybody for New York? My mom wants it.
104-When? As I said, I’ll be up there next year. Or maybe later this year. Eeh…
104- The city? I live about a half an hour away, but I would never be able to go. *parentsmumblemumble*
Unless I convinced them to go down to the city for a random visit, and just happened to see you there… *shifty eyes*
I’m not finding Kokons. I’m stuck in the land of no Kokons.
OH! I’m going to be up in New York in September for an audition, but only for a day. I wouldn’t have time for a Kokon, but perhaps if I convinced my mom to go to Central Park…
Again, not really a Kokon, more a passing glance.
Any takers?
108-What are you auditioning for?
109-Annie.
Again, any takers on passing glance in Central Park? I’ll be up in NYC for a day…but not enough for Kokon. So-passing glance in Central Park?
If yes, I know what I’ll be wearing…
79- To short a notice. I probably could’nt come. *sigh* Even if I did come, Leafy can’t. I have’nt seen her all summer. *sighagain*
Meet in Central Park? Anyone? ANYONE?!?!
…Please? I will have no computer, most likely! Anyone?!
*tries to revive dead thread*
Anyone? Anyone? Plan Kokons? Anyone?
Well, Nthanda the Laugher and I might have a SoCal Kokon. I just suggested meeting at the LA Museum of Natural History, but I dunno.
WE MIGHT GO TO DC THIS WEEKEND.
If not, then I’ll see MARFwarrior.
Yay!
NYC Kokon? Me want Kokon…
Florida Kokon?
NYC isn’t such a bad idea… I hate the place but it is my best bet for a kokon….
118-I’ll be up there in September for a few days.
Any Floridians wanting Kokons?
I will of course always be in Illinois, but next summer would be a great time for a kokon in Chicago. Kokonilly and I will both be (prolly) be here in IL. Anyone?
120 – Yes, next summer if my mom says yes to CTD next year, which she probably will.
120 – I could probably do a Chicago kokon.
Hey! Why didn’t I see the pictures before now?
123-Because, Beavo, your computer hates you. *said with completely serious face*
124- *cracks up* I can’t say that with a straight face!
125-Well, I can! Does anyone have Agateophobia?
Zinc, you have a inability to hold in laughing when confronted or when making a Muserly remark. And Leafygreen is…squishiness. *again, said with completely serious face*
126- *cracks up* I can’t say that with a straight face too! Anyways, smiling is exercise for the face, so it’s good, right? RIGHT?!
well…Central Park (NYC) Kokon? Short, but one nothing less…
Florida Kokon?
128- I don’t like the showy, upstart Orlando castle. It takes all the fame and glory from the original Disney castle!
MA kokon? MA kokon? MA kokon?
I might be able to do CT, but not either until October. Pleeeeeaaaaase? People?
MA Kokovention. The New England bloggers have been begging for it ever since I joined the blog. I’ll try to talk my dad into it, hes not so keen on me meeting people that I met online.
Oh. This thread is dead.
*uses reviving pies to revive dead thread*
I’m going on Friday, any Kokon takers?!
ANYONE?!
…Florida kokon???????
What about a Southern California Kokonvention? It would be so cool to meet other MuseBloggers in person. If my parents let me, that is.
Mass. Kokon!!! It’s pretty close to where I live…..
And (like may other people have said) There are lots of New Englanders…..I would TOTALLY go if it was in Mass.
135- Me too, I have clearance from my parents to go if one is scheduled.
Oooo! I’m in MA! I think my parents might be wary of Kokons though T_T
133- SoCal Kokon! SoCal Kokon! Lessee, who do we have…
LA Natural History Museum?
Me
Rainbowstar
Turquoise
Axa
NAPOI
Nthanda
That’s all I can think of. Wow, we sure have a lot!
I wish there was even a slim chance of an eastern Nebraska/western Iowa-area Kokonvention. Why must I live in what many people who live in more populated areas of the country consider the middle of nowhere? Omaha’s got some cool museums. And pie. So does Lincoln. Maybe I’ll just move to D.C. That would probably be easier.
I think I know where the LA Natural History Museum is, but I’m not sure. Does it have a butterfly garden and a statue of a Tyrannosaurus Rex attacking a Triceratops out in front?
Lessee (whoa, apparently that’s a real word), MA kokon…….
We have:
Me
Syllabub
MissSwann (I know she wants one, even if she hasn’t said so here)
Cliff Eagle
maybe Nora the Violist
And maybe other people who haven’t said anything
So, that looks like enough, I think. Where in MA are you people? Just Central, Western, or Boston area. I’m in Western.
And Syllabub, I know you don’t live in MA. You don’t count. (joke, joke, don’t worry)
140–Yes, lessee is a word, but not the way you are using it. According to the Oxford English Dictionary on my laptop:
lessee |leˈsē|
noun
a person who holds the lease of a property; a tenant.
DERIVATIVES
lesseeship |-ˌ sh ip| |lɛˈsiˈʃɪp| noun
ORIGIN late 15th cent.: from Old French lesse, past participle of lesser ‘to let, leave,’ + -ee .
Wow, why are so many MuseBloggers from MA? Just wondering.
141-Wouldn’t that be leasee? Nope, apparently not. I do know it’s not a word in the way I was using it, it was just kind of funny. As in strange.
142-Well, New England is a lot more settled than, say, Wyoming. It makes sense there’d be more MBers, because there are more actual people …….oh. I see what you’re saying. I don’t know.
People? At this rate, we’re going to have any kokon we’re doing in February. Which would be a shame for me, because I wouldn’t be there.
Should the SoCal MBers here be wanting to have a Kokon in the summer or winter vacation? I’m waiting… T_T
144 – Well, winter vacation is closer.
By the way, no one has answered my question about the Natural History Museum. (post 139)
139- I’ve been there once before, and yes, it does have a butterfly garden. I don’t know about the statue; I haven’t been there in quite a long time. Maybe Zinc knows.
Pleasepleaseplease, people? We only need maybe three, four people for a kokon, but it’s a bit hard to have one with yourself……
Well, actually it’s extremely easy, but you know what I mean.
If we don’t get this together relatively fast, we’re going to be having a kokon in January, and nobody wants that, right? I’m okay with having one in spring, I guess, but we should at least start planning. Or planning for planning. I don’t even know where in MA you people are!
ATTENTION ALL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MUSEBLOGGERS! WE NEED TO START PLANNING OUR KOKONVENTION!
Sorry if that sounds a bit bossy-I;m just frustrated because this tread is dead dead deadity dead.
1348—No, no, no! Attention all midwestern musebloggers! We neede to start planning a kokonvention in the midwest, preferably in the Thanksgiving break time frame….cuz then I might actually be able to somehow go……as long as I was allowed to not have a parent. I am 18, afterall.
149- Define “midwest.” Under a certain definition, I may be able to go.
150–well, one or two states would be optimal, but I would rather not say specifically whch too on the www, as it would make it rather easy to trace where I am gong to school. However, there are maybe half a dozen states that I oculd (potentially) manage to get to. Not sure how, but could potentially (I don’t have a car, nor does my sister who’s goign to college in one of my two optimal states…..if this happened, she could come, right?)
So maybe (in alphabetical order (!)): Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska
149 – If midwest is Chicago, I can do that. But if not…
152–That would be difficult for me, I think, but possibly manageable. I dunno. It all depends.
ALL MASSACHUSETTS PEOPLE PLEASE COME TO THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!! WE NEED TO PLAN A KOKON!!!!!!!
I’m sorry if I sound incredibly impatient, but I LEAVE in two months, and I’d like to have a kokon before that, if possible.
154-*reports to kokon thread* I’m not technically in Mass, but I am in New Hampshire…….so depending on where it is, I could come. If my parents let me or with MissSwann’s parents…..
But I would love a Mass kokon.
148- *reports* So, I’ll hand in my exact winter vacation dates. *looks at calendar* Dec. 20 through Jan. 4. Wonder if that’ll work…
154- Reports to thread.
Yes. But it may conflict with GAPA schedules- but if the GAPAs are ever in town, please contact us.
154-Thank you, Syllabub……… If you and MissSwann can come, we should be all set (that is, if nobody else is coming).
So, can I ask you in what part of MA MissSwann lives in? I’m in Western Mass…….. *is tired of saying this*
157-Yeah, sorry, didn’t see you.
That’s true. Are you gonna be in MA anytime before December, GAPAs?
151- Well, my state’s one of those, but too long of a drive with today’s gas prices wouldn’t make my parental units very happy. Well, hopefully more Midwesterners will come to this thread and help decide whether a ‘Konvention’s possible. Going to a not-easily-identifiable school, I can say that I’m in eastern Nebraska, so I’m most likely too far away from you.
Update on SoCal Kokon- My mum will allow me to go, but it has to be before Christmas.
I’ll try to find out when I have winter vacation. Maybe the Kokonvention could be around December 10 – 20?
My winter vacay STARTS the 20th. I’ll have to wheedle to get it on the first day.
Now, Turquoise, Axa, NAPOI, and Nthanda need to input.
If this happens, I think we have mutually agreed to meet in [snip! This information is too specific to post on the blog. We should have deleted it earlier. –Admin]. You can I dentify me by my long, swishy, black and white skirt and my socks. The socks are teh pwnage of all socks.
My winter vacation is from December 22 to January 2. I’m pretty sure everyone has Christmas and New Year’s off, so how about somewhere between those two holidays? I will probably wear a light blue shirt with hearts all over it, olive green shorts, and I don’t know what socks. I will try to find some cool socks.
Nevermind. We can have a kokon next year, I guess…. Who wants to have a kokon in December anyway?
151 – Aww, pity, I’m in Minnesota. We are going… somewhere… for Thanksgiving. Dunno where.
I’m pretty sure no MBer lives in Puerto Rico *sighs*. That’s where I’m going for winter break. We were about to go to Whistler, but we’ve been there a lot. But wait, we’ve been to Puerto Rico even more times…
ANYWAY!
Any Chicago MBers want a kokon?
158-MissSwann is in NH with me, about 20 minutes away from my house.
(Sorry for the double post.)
Preferably Thanksgiving break at a museum.
Any mid-westerners?
169 – *sigh* As ever, I’m still here. *waves* However… we may go to Chicago soonish. Possibly.
Any chance of a Kokonvention that’s not on a Saturday?
169–unfortunately (well, techinically fortunately, but unfortunately as far as a kokon is concerned) I will be in FL for break. Which is absolutely awesome, it beats spending break with some random person, but it doesn’t work very well for a midwest kokon!
168-Okay, let me rephrase that. What part of MA is the part of NH where you and MissSwann live close to?
I live in Florida, so any Musers there could do a ‘casual greeting’, so to speak.
I’m only ten, so there’s really no way…
163-164) hmm i will certainly try. my parents know about muse but not museblog, though my mom loved muse (especially the lotr issue) so perhaps. also museums are enjoyable. i’m kind of boring and awkward in real life though so i don’t know how much fun i would be to hang around with. but i’ll still try…
ANY CHANCE of a Florida Kokon?
173-Ummm, well, we live in south eastern NH, so it would be around north eastern MA.
164- I guess I can work with that.
175- Aw, c’mon, we’d love to have you! *cyber hug*
177-Northeastern…… *gets out map* Shoot. How far away are you from (GAPAs, don’t snip this please, I don’t live near there) [Sorry, Armada, this conversation is getting too specific. Our rules limit home locations to states or metro areas larger than a million. The entire population of New Hampshire isn’t that much over a million, no towns even come close, so please do not attempt to narrow down Syllabub’s residence any further. –Admin.]
This is all just tentative, of course…. but if we wanted to have a kokon next year all this could come in handy…… if we do have a kokon we would probably do it next year anyway, as by the time we get this one planned the weather is going to be pretty bad…..
For furthur identification- I’m the pale girl covered in freckles on my arms and face. I’m wearing a green shirt, and I’m eleven. How old is anyone who’s in this shabang?
179-I said that I didn’t live near there! And I wasn’t trying to find out where Syllabub lives, I was just trying to find a place where we could have a kokon, and I thought it might help if I knew something about how far away she was from the place I mentioned. The place I mentioned isn’t even in NH, it’s in MA, as you might know if you had taken the time to look it up……..
Which I know you’re too busy to do, and I’m really sorry, I’m just getting mad at you for no good reason because I’ve been repeatedly treated like a four-year-old all week….. Apologies…..
Is there anywhere in MA other than Boston that’s well known enough for me to ask how far away Syllabub lives without getting snipped? There’s Springfield, but that’s far away from me and farther away from everywhere in NH. There’s a few other towns I know of that she probably knows of too, but if I posted them I’d probably be doing nothing except taking up your time by making you snip it all, so I’m not even going to try.
Okay?
I’m eleven, too. Actually, I’m not sure if I’ll wear the blue shirt and green shorts. It depends on the weather. Whatever I wear, I will be the tallish blond girl with rectangular pink glasses. (If I’ve gotten my new glasses by then, which I probably will have.)
Hey, I’m only 10 years old, and the smallest 5th grader I know!
ANY FL/NY takers?
I’ll be up in NY next year, and I LIVE in FL, so…
I don’t exactly understand the pertinence… Once again, uninformed.

182- Sweetness! *high five- oops, eleven!* No glasses! I have great eyesight.
NOTICE TO OTHER POTENTIAL SOCAL KOKONVENTIONERS
So, Rainbowstar and I have narrowed it down to two dates- December 22-23. I have a feeling it will be the 23rd, for most parents aren’t that willing to get up early on the first day of winter vacation. So, the day before Christmas then. That’s gonna be tight.
Oh, darnjit! They blocked the LAMNH website too! *fumes*
186 – December 23 is fine. Except it’s not the day before Christmas, Christmas is the 25th.
187- Yep, I’ll ask my mum when she gets back. I have a feeling you’ll be surprised at what I look like.
(181) Armada, I know the town in MA you mentioned isn’t the town you live in, but the answer to your question could have been too revealing of where Syllabub lives. Look at a map of New Hampshire, and you can see how few towns there and how small. Even the largest was not quite 100,000 according to figures from 2007. We may feel MuseBlog is our own little world, but it’s still a public site that anyone can see.
Er, Roseanne, were exactly on the west coast are you?
~Zinc the sorceress, esse quam videri.
181, 189-Yeah, NH is not very populated. Our largest “city,” if you could even call it a city, does not even have 110,000 people.
(190) Zinc, Rosanne is in San Francisco.
Hi from the San Francisco Bay Area.
I was just reading through this thread, and it sounds like I’m very likely the only MBer in the Southeast. D:
And sorry for the second post (I seem to forget to add things quite a lot…), but by Southeast I mean Georgia/Tenessee/Carolinas/Virginia. All the states that touch NC, basically.
(195) Actually, there are several MBers (and one GAPA) in North Carolina, and at least one from South Carolina.
(193) Hi, Rosanne!
I’m in Washington today (and most days) and can arrange to meet Muser families with a little notice. But I do need notice.
So, before it got snipped, we had agreed to meet [snip!] (PLEASE no snippy!!)
[Yes, snippy. Not like we snipped it accidentally before. If MuseBloggers want to make specific arrangements for a meeting, they need to have their parents email us, then their parents can contact each other, if they so choose. As I said before, MuseBlog is a public place. Anyone can read your plans, including the detailed descriptions of your clothes, and so on. — Rebecca]
Hey, Roseanne? Is there any chance you could come down to LA in late December? Hey, my cousins live near you! Not in the SFBAn in its suburbs.
195–I’ve got you beat! I seem to be the only MBer in Alaska. And although kagy lives in Canada, i do believe she was further east than either BC or Yukon, so she personally doesnt’ live in a province that borders. And there are no states that border, so, yup! I think I am the most isolate MBer when I am back in my home state. Of course, I am now in a much less isolate area, given that I know Piggy for one is nearby in Nebraska, and it seems that there were other Musers in the central time zone……And for Thanksgiving I’ll be in FL!
197–I presume you mean Washington D.C.? As opposed to the state of Washington?
(199) Luna, as far as we know, you’re the only current MuseBlogger from Alaska, but we did have at least one other person from your state: Bird a.k.a. Alaskabird, who last posted in July, 2006.
Lady B.- Oh. Okay. I’ll tell her. Hope she does!
But why didn’t you snip the abbreviation of LA?
(202) Because LA has considerably more than a million people and therefore is admissible under MB rules.
201–yeah, I meant current MBer. I remember Bird, she was around back before I took my first long absence from MB…..Gosh, that was a long time ago.
Hey, does any Muser actually visit Florida?
Ever?
I’m so jealous…and only ten, so my parents-yeah…
189- Did I say that the town I mentioned isn’t in NH? Oh, never mind….. I’m still not exactly sure how saying how far away she is from a town that isn’t that close to the state line anyway could be ‘too revealing’ of where Syllabub lives, but I understand you’re cautious. I’m just trying to figure out if there’s anywhere to have a kokon that isn’t too far away from either of us and is well known enough for her to know where it is. I’ll mention Amherst (I’m sorry, if there’s any way that you could not snip that I’d appreciate it, but if you feel the need to snip go ahead, though I’d much appreciate it if you’d just replace the place name with [snip!] instead of deleting the entire paragraph, thank you), but that might be a bit too far away for her, and as I said before, Springfield’s the only other place that I know of (that’s well known), and that’s pretty far for both of us.
Would you like me to ask my parents to email you? Before I ask that, Syllabub, do you have permission from your parents for a kokon? Does MissSwann have permission from hers? I think I have permission from mine (after giving me a lecture on internet safety, I told them the specifics (GAPA[s] present, parents also there), and they both said they thought it was a ‘cool idea’), but I’ll have to check before I’m sure.203- Oh. Well, durrr! That was stupid! *pies self*
Please, GAPAs? I know you’re snipping right now, and I’m just hoping that you’re paying attention to my request…..
Why I know the GAPAs are snipping my post: It’s not normal for a post to still say ‘your comment is awaiting moderation’ when there’s another post by someone else after it.
205–yes, Musers do actually visit FL. I myself have been there more times than I care to try and count right now! My gramma lives there, as does one of my mom’s brothers and his family. So,when I was little we went to FL about every other summer, although recently we ahven’t been near as often (2000, and 2005 were the last times). Of course, my sister and I will be in FL for Thanksgiving break this year (Nov. 22-31), so yup, I’d say at least one muser visits! Although, I”m afraid a Kokon really isn’t very feasible for me on that trip…..
Do ANY bloggers live in Michigan?????
I doubt it. Michigan is boring.
211- I don’t live in Michigan!
Oh, cool! I didn’t get snipped after all! Thanks a bunch, GAPAS…..
So, Syllabub, how far away are you from Amherst?
Sorry, let me rephrase that a bit. Syllabub, I do not live very near Amherst, but I go there a lot, and there’s a nice town common where we could kokon if we wanted, and the people probably wouldn’t look at us like we were crazy if we did weird Muse-related stuff because everyone from there is crazy anyway (
), and I could maybe bring Widget and wizzy (I know, they probably haven’t been around long enough to be considered MBers, but they might come back sometime) and maybe Jake (a friend of mine who’s interested in MB and might join soon; you know. I told you about his mom on the random thread a while ago?), and….. yeah. It would be a nice place, and there are a few museums and things in the area…..
[We already gave you notice. Any further planning details must be done through your parents as mentioned before. This goes for all kokons under discussion. Further attempts to circumvent the rules will result in closing this thread. I’m sorry, but this has been a very brain-consuming weekend, and we simply don’t have time to stop and sift and decide to snip or not snip through all these. –Rebecca]
Sorry, Rebecca…… I think it might help if you posted the actual kokonvention rules so we knew what kind of info was acceptable and what wasn’t. I’d get my parents to email you if I knew that Syllabub and MissSwann had permission from their parents…….
*waits for Syllabub*
(216) The MuseBlog Rules can be found by clicking the link “Rules” at the top of any page. The only additional requirement for kokons is that if the planning goes much beyond “does anyone live in or near (state or metro area larger than 1 million)?” MBers should ask their parents to email us, as I mentioned in comment 198. If they are willing to contact each other, we will let them do so; if not, that’s as far as it goes.
While there is no way to guarantee safety on the Internet, we do what we can with the few options that are available to us to keep this blog as safe as possible with as few rules as possible.
I’m not very good at this, am I? Oh well. The only thing I’ll post now is the exact date and the notice that my mother has emailed you (she STILL hasn’t gotten back! Ergh…). *sighs* *sits* *waits* *taps foot* *makes chirping noise*
217-Okay, thanks. As I said, I’m waiting for Syllabub, but if she says she can do it I’ll ask my parents to email you.
I’m getting pretty repetitive, aren’t I? I think I won’t post anything else on this thread until Syllabub says something.
*waits for Syllabub*
*or MissSwann*
*or anyone else who can kokon in Western MA*
188 – I probably will be surprised at what you look like. I have an unexplainable hunch that you have long, dark brown hair, but seeing as my unexplainable hunches are usually very wrong, you probably don’t.
220- Hehe, don’t worry, the doll of you is most definetly wrong, but I had a lot of fun with it… XD
Hi, Rebecca! (196)
And Zinc (198), It’s not likely I’ll be in LA in late December since my plan is to spend that time lazing around my house with my husband and eating chocolate. It’s sort of like hibernation—but with chocolate. I look forward to it all year!
222–hibernation with chocolate…..that sounds wonderful.
Yeah, it is.
you should have a kokonvention in the twin cities!
Sorry for keeping you waiting Armada. I live about..*checks* ooh, 2 hrs and 45 minutes away from Amherst. Yeah. And I haven’t asked my parents about a kokon yet.
222- Oh, well. (Send us some of your choklit XD)
Completely off-topic, but I just practiced my Photoshop on a bunch of Kokon pictures. It was fun. Meow looks like modern art!
226-‘S’okay, it didn’t keep me up at night or anything…..
Hmmm…… that kinda sucks….. can you think of any other places in MA that would be closer to you? I guess we could do it in Boston if we had to, and then CE might be able to do it too….. but I live about 2 hours away from Boston…… Sigh. I dunno……. let’s see, would– no. I have a feeling I’m going to get snipped if I mention any other towns that are more northeastern, and the only other towns in MA that probably wouldn’t get snipped are farther southwest that Amherst. This is hard…… Can you think of anywhere? I don’t know of any places that are kind of in the middle…….
I could give a list of what places I’m going to on my cruise, but it’s unlikely any Musers will be there!
After dinner, I’ll get my mother to email the GAPAs!
229-Wait, you’re going on a cruise? When? Where? It’s just possible I might be there…. tell me!
Okay, maybe she won’t email you (I only ate 8 ice cream sandwiches, geez…). My mother is mad at me right now. I’ll do it tommorrow. Yay for four day weekends!
232–Four. Day. Weekend?!?!?! Noooooooooooo. Is envious. ah, well. I get a 9 day weekend starting evening of the 21st! In Florida, no less. And we shall go to Islands of Adventure (future home of the Harry Potter theme park) and possibly Universal Studios if we have time, but since we’ve been there before (five years ago)….. (and GAPA, I hope that’s not a problem if I say that, it’s not like I said what days we’re going to any specific one).
233- Yup. Veteran’s Day (tommorrow) is off, so the school doesn’t want to lose money just because the kids took today off, so it’s a four day weekend.
But what’s really depressing about the four day weekend is that kids just think, “YAY Veteran’s Day gives us a four weekend!” not, “Thank you for all the soldiers who died for us in all the wars to protect our country, even though we should have just used diplomats.” That’s this generation’s problem. We don’t respect a lot of meaningful holidays.
I swear I’ll get my mother to email you today, GAPAs! IswearIswearlswear!
Okay, she said maybe today or tommorrow. I’m not realy supposed to be on right now, so… *skedaddles*
I’m going to be in Worchester around Christmas and could maybe make it to Boston. Boston or Worchester Kokonvention, anybody?
Alice – We’re going to be in Oregon in early December, I don’t know whether my parents will consider the possibility of a kokon. I’ll find out soon.
236-It’s possible that I might be able to do a kokon in Boston, but that’s not the greatest time. But, it’s just possible. Ask CE, he lives in Boston.
Heh, my county alone has more people than the entire state of New Hampshire.
I’ll be in DC for Thanksgiving. I’m not sure of kokon status, but it might be possible if someone else were available.
I’m available in the Washington DC area….my parents are pretty excited about muse, Kokonventions and suchlike, so I could probably make it to one nearby (relatively) if there’s not a total conflict in schedules.
My mom gave her permission! SQUEE!!!
239–lol, New Hamshire has about double the people in Alaska! We only have a population of 600,000-700,000, and about half live in one city (Anchorage, the largest city). We are the least populated per area, but I think Wyoming has a smaller total population……
239-Poor NH. We don’t get much publicity, except for being the 1st primary state and all that.
242- Yes, Wyoming has the smallest total population. I did a report on it, all excited because Wyoming was the first place woman could vote, and it is the home of Yellowstone. Then I only had two historical events, and one landmarks. *sigh* I still scraped by (thank the divine god of encyclopedias!).
243- I went to New Hampshire two years ago! *coughcoughInatraincoughcough* *coughcoughforabout20minutescoughcough*
Ohhhh Syllabub, come and postttttt something……
I think the Kokon is still ONNN, Rainbowstar… come and pooooosst, something, my precious… *freaky weird Gollum moment*
Oops, sorry.
246 – I will ask my parents if I can go to the Kokon. By the way, we still need to hear from Turquoise, Axa, NAPOI, and Nthanda. We can’t really have a Kokon with two people.
244–I don’t think I’ve ever been to NH…..even for 20 minutes. I was in Maryland once (what that has to do with anything, I dunno). for all of maybe five minutes. It was over a decade ago (probably–at least 9 yrs), and we were driving up the east coast form FL to DC, and dad took a wrong turn, and we ended up in Maryland, until he realize we went the wrong way……Was amusing.
DC is cool. We wanted to see the white house, but it was closed……but we went to Smithsonian, and there was this cute little squirrel digging up flower bulbs that looked both was before crossing the street…..and we went to the Washington Monument, Linocoln Memorial, etc. And the capitol building. We ate lunch there, actually. And our hotel had a pool on the roof, and we wanted to go swimming, but never had time. Oh, and me and my sis played in random little fountain things squirting up from a courtyard or something? There was this big open square area, and there were lots of like little water things shooting straight out in regularly spaced intervals…….Dunno if that made sense…..Twas a long time ago.
245-Oh. Sorry. I can’t really post anything right now because I have to go catch my bus… *runs from computer*
No kokons in Austria ! sniff…
This is all Mr. Joe’s fault (goes of to insult Mr. Joe on his thread)
250-You live in Austria?
247: Yes, we can! *obstinate* But it would be fun to have more than two people. Don’t forget to mention that parents will be there!
251) I used to live in CT, but now I’m here, and my muse issues are always late… But I can still pie you from here thanks to MB.
*throws cherry golfball pie*
253: You live in AUSTRIA??? Whoa, I wish I lived there! It sounds better than AMERICA… *mutters about eviction, banks, the enviroment, and an assortment of other things*
Now I have to leave for school. Bye!
It isn’t, we have our share of idiotic politicians ( Haider (R.I.P.), Schüssel and that cow who’s reforming the school system) and various crashing, crashed or will crash banks…
We have a better school system though (for now, until some politician changes the rules again). The spelling was invented by Mr. Joe, unfortunately, and it keeps changing on me…
Was my comment snipped, or did I just forget to post it? I only mentioned one place that might be too specific, and it was near Boston…… I don’t remember exactly what I said, except basically ‘Syllabub, see post #228’….
So, yeah. Syllabub, see post #228.
Armada-what part of MA do you live in? I know you’ve said it before, but I can’t remember what you said…..
(257) She’s not allowed to get too specific. We do snip or zap posts that break that rule.
258-I just meant eastern, western, that kind of thing. Not counties or towns.
Rainbowstar, have you gotten your mum to email yet? It’s getting closer, and closer… any other SoCal MBers wanna come?
I will get her to email by the end of November. GAPAs, why is she supposed to email you? Is it just so you know everyone’s parents approve?
Sorry for the double post, but we aren’t doing anything on December 23, and my mom seems to be fine with it, but she needs to know the GAPAs’ email address.
(261, 262) Our email is gapa at musefanpage dot com. Once we hear from parents, we will let them contact each other and make plans about time and place, the kind of information that can’t be posted on the blog.
253- OH I wish you still lived in CT! So do I! We could’ve had a kokon!
Anyways!!!! Does anyone live in CTish area and wish to have one??? I can probably get up to MA or RI if I must… I have relitives in both.
Alice – I’m coming down to Oregon next weekend, but I don’t think that a kokon will be possible. We’re coming up on a week day, and on the way back I don’t think we’ll be able to stop, because we can’t get back too late. Sorry. We’ll almost definately be up there again sometime, though, and hopefully it’ll work out.
Cats meow and IBCF – Spokane kokonvention?
I’m pretty sure I know what a Kokovention is. I think. Jeez, sometimes I feel so phytey.
I live in Central New York. I’d love any excuse to go to Boston, but somehow I don’t think I’ll be attending anything there anytime soon… I have performances all through December.
Oops, spelling. Kokonvention. Sorry, typing fast and not paying attention. SFTDP.
My mom emailed the GAPAs with permission for me to go to the Kokon!

New York people? Kokon?
268: Squee! *high five* Now, waiting for her to get home… *drums fingers on table top*
269- What time? I’m in the area, although I’ll be near Boston for the holidays.
Zinc, my mom said your mom emailed her, and apparently we live in the same county, so we might go to the Cube science museum instead. (I was wanting to go there anyway.)
By the way, I had an idea. In case descriptions of clothes aren’t enough, we could use a secret signal to identify each other. Like, if I see someone that I think might be you, I could go up to them and ask a special question. If they give the response we planned, I’ll know it’s you. Like this:
Of course, “Do you know where the tsunami exhibit is?” doesn’t have to be the code sentence. It’s just an idea.
272–I hate to crash your party, but if the your parents are in contact, why don’t you just have them set a time and specific location at the museum? That way you needn’t bother with clothing descriptions to find each other, nor will you have to approach random (creepy) individuals……Of course, maybe you want to do that, in which case go right ahead.
273- Well, just being the devil’s advocate, I’m assuming other people are going to be there at the same time. There could a couple of kids with their moms standing at… the tsunami exhibit at 3:00 who you think might look a lot like Zinc. Heh.
(272) No more space-time coordinates on the blog, please.
As for Muser-recognition signals, at D.C.-area Kokonventions we’re big on the Kokopelli hand sign (see the third, fourth, and seventh photographs at the top of the thread).
I’m flying to NY the last week of x-mas holidays. If I can persuade my mom to stop shopping 24/7, I could go to a kokonvention.
Will anybody else be there ?
276- NYC, or…. where? Anywhere near Syracuse/Utica?
276- Not during the holidays…”NY’s too crowded then and when we live so close why not go at a less crowded time” yup that was my mom’s point of veiw. Of course I’m assumeing you mean NYC. If not then probably still no jsut because that’s my mom for you… oh well.
257-Western. But if you really can’t think of anyplace that would be good for you and probably good for me too, I can probably do Boston, since my parents have a business there and go about once a month or so…..
And yes, GAPAs, I will get my parents to email you now. Well, not right now, since it’s late and I’m not supposed to be MBing right now, but soon. Probably tomorrow. And yes, they are my parents. I used that email when I first joined because I didn’t have one of my own.
Does anyone in the NC/SC/etc area want to have a Kokon?
277) Sorry, I meant NYC.
272~ How about you just ask if the person in question is a muser and whether they are there for the Kokonvention? If they are, they’ll know what you mean, if not they won’t et it at all and will walk away with a perplexed look on their face, and that’s always amusing.
I’ve been known to approach total strangers and ask them directions or whether they’d recommend a certain cell phone. (yes, I did that once, stop laughing.)
I should know, but don’t ask me how.
275~ Carrying a Muse magazine and casually stopping to read it might be a good signal too.
.wait, was there a Chicago kokon this summer and I missed it?
Back in the day, we were talking about having one, but it never worked out.
I have asked before… and I think some others have too.
Does anyone live in CT and wants to have a kokovention?? I would love too!!!! Please Please please.
Is anyone coming to the Southern California Kokonvention besides me and Zinc? Turquoise? Axa? NAPOI? Nthanda? We need to know what time and place would be okay with everyone. If you live in Southern California and are interested in attending the Kokon, get your parents to email the GAPAs.
272: What about we make up an exhibit? “Hey, do you know where the double sided tape exhibit is?” The reason is because I haven’t been there in quite a while. Hey, you use the same name for the Cube as I do!
Okay, that’s WEIRD. What if you even go to my SCHOOL? (Yeah, right. Like that’ll be true.)
285: Duplicated!
…sorry guys, I don’t think it’s going to work out

I hope you have fun though! I look forward to hearing about it
285- Should I go to the kokonvention? I live in Southern California! I might come… I’m Rainbowstar’s little sister…
286- Um, Zinc, what if we ask the wrong person where the double sided tape exhibit is? We could have just a special place to meet in front… it would also be kinda amusing if you asked someone where the Wung exhibit was, and it would be even more funny if you asked someone with no idea what Muse was… anyway, I haven’t been to that Cube Museum before… so I don’t know where everything is in it…
(279) Armada: We do have e-mail from your parents giving permission for you to Kokonvene with other MBers. Now, if their parents e-mail us, we’ll give them all one another’s e-mail addresses, and they can make the arrangements.
OK, people, let me clarify. NOT NYC. [snip! –Admin] Uhhh… Oh, if you’ve ever heard of Ithaca, I live about an hour and a half to an hour 45 away from there.
290- Can I at least say that you’ve never heard of my town and that I’m an hour from Syracuse?
290~ I have a friend in Ithaca!
Why don’t we have a thread made for planning Kokonventions instead of using this one?
288: Sure, but it’ll be a bit awkward. I mean, my sister might come (Gwyn), but she’s 14… although the Wung exhibit is a good idea.
293: Eeehhh??? Did most of my post disappear, or what?
Hi, Zinc. Yes. I snipped it but not very gracefully because I was suddenly interrupted by my paying job.
All those details about your kokonvening place made me nervous. It’s better to work that out off the blog. So I snipped.
289-Thanks. My mom told me as soon as you emailed her back, as I had been driving her crazy asking every time she went on the computer asking her ‘did you get an email from the GAPAs? Did they email you back?’ Syllabub, you need to ask your parents! I know we have something like five months, but still, hurry up!
Zinc, can you ask your mom to email my mom? She hasn’t for a few days, and the Kokon is soon.
Okay, this sounds like a stupid question, but what exactly do you do at a kokon?
296-Okay, I will. But my Mom is somewhat iffy about the blog sometimes, so I don’t know what she’d say….
297: I’ll ask when she’s in a good mood. Right now she isn’t home, and I’m leaving for a soccer team party soon.
298-Ummmm……Hm. Kokonvene? I don’t really know…. Just hang out and talk about MB and Muse stuff, I guess. And maybe eat pie. Or not eat it.
*sends mind waves to Syllabub’s mom saying ‘Send an email! Send an email! Send an email!'(ect.)* I’m harmless, really I am…..
The thing is, while we technically have five months, I will be gone for three of them. Starting in January. So if we want to plan, we should either do it really soon or in April. Maybe April would be better, actually….
300-Yeah, about asking my mom……I will today. (Hopefully)
*Sighs*… Living overseas stinks…
If you ever cross the atlantic, armada, let me know.
IF ANY MBer IS VISITING EUROPE, TELL ME !
301-Great!
302-It’s possible…. In a few years, maybe. Right now our boat is in pretty rotten condition, for any big ocean crossings, anyway, but….
Wait…. where is Austria exactly? I’m not very good at geography….
Austria is sandwiched between Italy (on the bottom), Germany (on the top), Switzerland (on the left) and Hungary + some small other countries (on the right). It’s shaped like a key and has most of the alps. I asked because we still cruise in the summer vacation, but only in Europe (no time for long passages).
Visiting me in Austria wouldn’t work, since it’s been landlocked since WW1.
304- Wait what happened in WWI? I’m only good when it comes to lifestyles of people in different timeframes… famous people and wars don’t interest me.
304-Oh. I see. Okay. If we did go to Europe/area around there sometime, we probably wouldn’t go to Austria anyway… Where do you go when you cruise?
….Yeah, what happened during WWI? [/echo]
299 – Is your mom in a good mood yet? My mom emailed her.
*headdesk* So, Syllabub…. We know we’re having a kokon with me, you, MissSwann, and possibly other MA MBers. We don’t know where we’re having it, when we’re having it, what we’re going to do, whether the GAPAs are going to be there (though I think we can safely assume they will be), or each others’ parents’ email addresses to figure these things out in detail. We can at least work on the first four a bit, anyway…. Want to?
Oh, by the way, I should probably announce this on the random thread too, but is anyone going to be in Boston this coming Friday?
(308) You may not get a response from Syllabub right away, Armada. See the end of comment 79 on Yule Be Happy.
309-Ah. Right. I have heard that the weather is pretty horrible in NH right now…. Well, I can wait. I just thought it might be a good idea to get started on thinking about those things, whenever she gets back.
Okay so I think I’ve said this before but I REALLY would like to have a CT Kokon. (I’m not giving away where I live here) We coud meet at the Old State house in Hartford before that closes down, becuase we all know that at some point the poor budget won’t allow for it anymore and if you haven’t been there it is absolutly amazing! Or the Noah Webster House or the Nathan Hale grounds, or Elizabeth Park, or Mystic, or I don’t know, contrary to wat people think CT has some pretty cool and historical things. Mark Twain, Noah Webster, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Nathan Hale, and I know there’s some others.
ATTENTION, ZINC THE SORCERESS.
Ask your mom to email my mom. We need to pick a time, date, and place for the SoCal Kokon.
311-Will you be in Hartford on Jan. 2? My parents would kill me for asking this…. That’s when we’re going to the Bahamas. If you’re really desperate for a kokon, we could do it at the airport. Though I doubt you want a kokon that bad.
I know you don’t want to say where in CT you are, but just what part of the state do you live in? I could possibly convince my parents to go to another kokon, they like historical stuff…
Isn’t it nice to live in New England? There are a lot of people around, and driving from where I live to somewhere in CT isn’t nearly as far as driving from South CA to North CA…. Living in a teeny state does have a few advantages.
313- I can be in Hartford. [As you predicted, the rest of this was zapped. –Admin.]
314- [Let’s keep specifics off the blog, please. –Admin.]
SFTDP
313-*sigh* Apparently Mr/Miss Snipity snip didn’t like me trying to tell you the general area where I am. *sigh again* Sorry. I can definetly be in Hartford just about anytime I’m free. (hey am I allowed to say my GRANDPARENTS live in Hartford making me be there often?)
You can delete this oh Mr/Miss Snipity Snip but was there a reason you snipped my comment on small states? that gave away like… nothing.
316-*sigh* This is really hard. Okay, let me try this again. YodaShmoda, take a good look at my comment #313, think about what it means that I’m on my way to the Bahamas on the 2nd, and tell me if you can do it.
312: I just did! I think we agreed on Dec. 22/23. We both have winter vacation then. If anyone else is coming, input please!
3045/6) In WWI, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was split up into lots of little pieces after losing. What became the Austrian part (i.e. what was left over after everyone made themselves independent) was a small bit of land mostly alpine. The only good thing left over was the capitol (Vienna).
306) Right now, the boat is in Holland. Possible destinations for next summer:
a) Russia, Finland (the upper right corner of europe maps)
b) Great Britain, Ireland (those island on top)
c) The Mediterranean (the water around italy)
The Med. is unlikely though, because it’s gotten very expensive.
311) Buhu ! Why didn’t I find the blog sooner ! I used to live at one of those places you mentioned- the one with the “seaport”.
I’ll try to figure out details about my trip to NY…
320: ♪FINLAND, FINLAND, FINLAAND! THAT’S THE COUNTRY FOR ME!♫
318) Yes I can. You do realize that Bradly ( I assume that is the Airport your talking about isn’t actulay in Hartford) I can still be there. But yeah, I don’t think I’m that desperate especialy becuae my parents will be very skeptical of meeting somone in an airport. Do you live in CT or just coming here for the airport? Becuase my parents like to drive so even if you’re far from where we live we could probably mosy over there at some point.
319 – Yes, but my mom emailed your mom this morning to say we needed a specific time and place.
322-Well, yeah… True. But everyone knows what I’m talking about when I say ‘the airport in Hartford’, anyway. I don’t live in CT, no…. We’re just coming to the airport. I can understand why your parents wouldn’t be too hot on the idea of you meeting someone at the airport… Oh well. I live in Western MA…. Could you make Amherst sometime next spring? That would be great, but my parents also like to drive, so I could probably make anywhere in CT.
Wow, this is a lot of potential kokons… I’ve gone a long way in five months.
[Armada, please stop trying to plan Kokonventions online, where everybody in the world can read what you write. As we’ve said before, we don’t encourage MBers to meet one another off the blog. If they insist on doing it, though, they can ask their parents to e-mail us at gapa at musefanpage.com. We’ll give the parents each other’s e-mail addresses, and they can make the arrangements. If MBers keep trying to use this thread for rendezvous purposes, we’ll close it to comments. –Robert]
GAPAs, could you zap that post? My mom said it sounded belligerent.
I might be in Las Vegas, and then LA, sometime in 2009…
I’m very sorry, GAPAs. I really have been doing way too much of that, haven’t I… Okay. YodaShmoda, if you want a kokon it sounds like it would probably be very easy for us two to do it, but you need to get your parents to email the GAPAs before I can say anything else on this thread. (yes, self-inflicted rule.)
Good: The SoCal Kokon is less than a week away!
Bad: We still need to pick an exact time (down to the hour), and place within the building to meet.
So, Zinc, can you ask your mom to email my mom with a time and place that would be good for you, and we’ll figure out the specifics.
NYC from 1-8 jan. SOMEBODY ?
327- Sounds awsome. What dates werer you thinking? Is she allowed to say that? I’m free for like ever. Cept on thursdays and mondays but I don’t htink you were planning on doing it on a weekday anyhoo.
329- Maybe. February break would be better, though.
Sorry for keepingyou waiting, Armada.
Well, my Mom doesn’t sound too thrilled about the idea. And if we wanted to have it fairly soon, I’ve got a lot going on with my grandmother recovering from surgery and all.
So, sorry, I’d really like to meet you, but I don’t think that it would really work out. If you know what I mean.
328:Yeah, I think she emailed, but I can’t ask her now since she, being sane, is sleeping in. It should be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
333 – [I know you didn’t say anything particularly revealing, but we have asked you not to discuss specifics about Kokonvention plans on the blog. –Rebecca] By the way, my sisters (tangerine and Hibiscus) want to come.
334: Why not; they’re MBers too! Just asking, how old are they?
335 – They’re 9, identical twins, and hardly ever post. You may know tangerine as tigerstar.
336: They’ll like the museum. I assure you, it ROCKS.
SFTDP, but it’ll have to be Monday.
330-I’m also free anytime, except on Mondays. I was thinking sometime in the spring, maybe May or June, since I’m going away soon…. But get your parents to email the GAPAs, and we can talk about it in great detail. I think we have something going here! Oh, and if it was somewhere in MA, I could maybe get electros to come…. I’ll have to ask him. Doubtful, but maybe.
332-Darn.
No, I wasn’t thinking about having it real soon. Next summer would be fine. But if your mom doesn’t like the idea, then it’s kinda pointless to plan anyway…. How about MissSwann, do her parents feel the same way? *pathetically hopeful*
Zinc&Rainbowstar- you guys are so lucky. Wish I was there…. Don’t forget to send pictures, anyway!
SFTDP, I’m *somewhat* free anytime except on Mondays. But a weekend would work best, I think.
338 – Okay. I’m kind of busy today anyway.
339- kay. Uh how do I get my mom to send somthing to the GAPA’s? I mean like… the address. Sorry if this information is somwhere I’m just not looking hard enough.
Okay, bookgirl, I can meet you in NYC from 2-4 January, as I’ll be back here after visiting relatives who live elsewhere. Fancy a kokonvention at the American Museum of Natural History?
Zinc, should we move our Kokon to next weekend (after Christmas)? That would give us more time to plan.
344: No, it has to be before Christmas, so it either has to be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. And don’t forget to bring a Muse so we can still send in pictures without parental permissions because they don’t show our faces (right?).
How about Tuesday (tomorrow), because that’s what we originally planned? And, can you ask your mom to email my mom with the specific time?
346: Sure! Will do!
346: SFTDP, but I just spoke to my mother and she says your mom and my mom spoke and said it was next Sunday, since your mother works. See you then!
My mom told me that, too. I don’t really mind putting it off, meeting another MuseBlogger at all is pretty amazing. By the way, I will wear [Please, no personal descriptions on the blog. –Admin.]
342-The address is gapa@musefanpage.com. EMAILFASTEMAILFASTEMAILFAST!!!!!!
I’d like a Central New York Kokon, if possible.
349: I’ll will not be wearing jeans.
352 – Me neither.
353: My shirt will not be mostly blue.
SOS NEED CENTRAL NEW YORK KOKON PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU CAN BE IN CNY NEXT WEEK!!!!
355- Sorry, I’ll be here in the City.
356- Oh darn, my parents will never let me got to NYC, and yours will never let you go three hours just so you can get to Syracuse for a Kokon.
Zinc, which Muse are you bringing? I’m bringing the October 2007 one (about communicating with ghosts). Amazingly, it’s still in good condition.
Anyone? Detroit Kokon? Annnnnyone? Please???????
350- Kay. Doing it. Now. I had a really hard time understnading the last part, took me a while.
SFTDP- My mother never really listened when I told her what was going on before. She says: “Huh?” and then “What am I agreeing to?” and then “No.” So sorry Armada, I don’t know why but I cannot have a kokon with you, or anyone else, ever, not if I get my way. I’m trying very hard to not yell at her right now in the spirit of the up coming holidays, it’s not working.
361-*headdesk* I am trying to think of some word that will let me express my feelings adequately without being snipped….. FOR GODS’ SAKE, IS THERE ANYONE WHOSE PARENTS WIILL LET THEM HAVE A KOKON WITH ME????? Cliff Eagle? TMFA (don’t you live in CT?)? Someone? Please?
358: I’m bringing the one about genetics, the one with the liger on the front. It’s probably my favorite issue ever.
363 –
How long have you been subscribed to Muse? My favorite ever was probably the food-styling one, but sadly my library throws away all Muse issues older than a year.
Rainbowstar: Why don’t you ask your library to give the old issues to you?
364: My family has been subscribing since 05/06, I don’t know which. The schol library has ones all the back to 2001.
SoCal Kokon tomorrow! *does happy dance*
364- the librarys in my area that stock muses do that, too, and it makes me MAD.
343) Sorry-my mom put her foot down on all the kokon plans. She wants to meet relatives and will “absolutely not !” allow me to meet “some people who I only met over the internet”… et cetera. Maybe I should have bribed her… sorry KaiYves.
361) *gives chocolate* I feel for you… same here.
I bet I can have one in the summer, or later this year, I dunno I think my mom still thinks of me as her baby and well, me going into High School next year scares her, I think she thinks I should still be in theird grade- I sorta feel like I should be in theird grade.
Zinc: Yes! The Kokon is a sucess! We’re at a museum, and we have achieved internet access! (I’m so proud of myself.
)
Rainbowstar: As Zinc said, we are at a Kokon at a science museum. Finally!
We will try to send in pictures.
Hibiscus: This is a fun Kokon! We are at a science museum in Southern California!
tangerine
: Yay! This is a fun Kokonvention! Zinc looks completely differrent then I imagined! Rainbowstar, Hibiscus, and I are all sisters. Hibiscus is my identical twin. We have seen a lot of cool exhibits!!!
Zinc: Rainbowstar and her sisters look completely different from what I imagined. (Blond hair?! Sweet albino wungs!!!) Now we need to finish up the post to get on with virtual volleyball!
Rainbowstar: Zinc looked completely different than I thought, too. I didn’t think she’d be blond, or taller than me. We went to a bat exhibit, and I had a disturbing thought: what if HPBs could breed with bats? Batbunnies!
They could use use echobunnification: if the sound echos off you, you get bunnified.
Zinc: Can we go now?!
Hibiscus: Zinc looked way different than I thought! I imagined her with long brown hair and brown eyes! She looks way different!
tangerine
: LET’S GO!!!
Bye Everyone!!!
(371) Greetings, Kokonventioneers! Thanks for stopping by. Sounds like a fun day.
371 – Hey Kokonveners! Hope you’re having a great time! Keep us updated!
372/373: It was great! Umm… we did a lot of different and fun exhibits. PIctures will come soon!
374-Yay for pictures!!!!! Post them soon!!!!
Awesome, Zinc&Rainbowstar&everyone else! Lucky you. POST PICS SOON!
370-Yeah? You think? *hopes* With me, or does your mom just really not like me for some reason?
369- PHOBOS!
Armada-I’m at MissSwann’s house, and she says she’d love to do a kokon with you, and her parents are all for it. Maybe I could even go with her. My mom wasn’t totally opposed to the idea.
378- All right! Thanks, Syllabub. Maybe we could even do it with YS, depends on how her parents are feeling next spring….
Pictures? MUST SEE. POST NOW.
376- Oh no she doesn’t have a grudge on you. My mom’s like that. I wasn’t allowed to go up and pet dogs untill I was eight, and even then I had to ask.
379(Oh and it has to do with 378 too)- I probably can. I’m going to talk to my mom soon and MAKE SURE she gets the idea. If it’s next spring it’ll give me plenty of time to convince her too. *looks hopfull*
(374) Zinc, Rainbowstar, and other SoCal Kokonventioneers: We’ll need permission from your parents to post any photos you send.
382: Can we send in the one were we’re all hiding behind a Muse in the hurricane simulation? I don’t think it shows our faces…
What do you mean, simulation? That was a real hurricane, and we had to survive it with only a Muse for shelter.
384: Why did I type that?! It was a real hurricane, people. High winds.
Follow up to 381- My mom said sorta kinda yes. She understands it more now and says that we could try it. I can tell she’s still skeptical but atleast we got a Yes.
So are there others in CT? I didn’t quite get it. So I think it’s Armada, Syllabub and MissSwann. Maybe.
386-Great! Thanks, Yoda. Yeah, I think we have, so far, you, me, Syllabub, and MissSwann. I actually live in MA, and MissSwann and Syllabub live in NH, but all the states around here are so close together that, ya know, it’ll work. Cliff Eagle lives in Boston, Brendan is also somewhere in MA, Nora the Violist is in MA too though she doesn’t think her parents would let her kokon, I think TMFA lives in CT, I’ll check with electros’s parents and see if they’d let him come…. But ask around on the random thread. I would, but…. You all know I’m going away on Friday by now, right? Yes, you do. I’l stop saying it. Anyway. Yeah.
Okay, YS, Syllabub, MissSwann, go ahead and get your parents to email the GAPAs, just don’t expect to hear from my parents ’till spring. Plan with ya then!
Hey, Rainbowstar, could you ask your mother if she would send in the behind the Muse photo, please?
302- I was in Austria for a month last summer.
Bit late, but still. Shame. I just moved from England, so if we’d been there a bit longer we might have had a ko konvention.
IBCF and Cat’s Meow – what say you to a kokonvention?
388- Will do. Hopefully.
Will anyone be in Central New York during the month of January? Anyone live in the CNY area? ‘Cause I need a Kokon!!!!!!!!!
I am going up to New York for a two-week acting camp. I have a free day or two, so a Kokon would be possible then…
Let’s have a Canadian Mbers kokon. Oh dear. That’s, what? one person! Oh yeah. It will be a rockin’ partay. I am joking. I attend a Canadian Mbers kokon everyday. Someday I will Kokon with musers other than myself. *realizes she is not doing anything to further the conversation and leaves*
390:washington kokon?
390- I need to meet up with you guys. Alice needs to come, too.
395, 396 – Yes! Do you guys live on the east or west side of WA?
MASSIVE KOKONVENTION IDEA, reposted from the Random Thread. By Kiki the Great and Kokonilly
Okay, so I go to camp right near where Kiki lives in the suburbia of Chicago, so we thought that around mid-August 2009, we could arrange a massive Kokonvention involving me, her, and possibly any MBer that lives in Chicago, including Penty, King Wachtelschlag (sp?), Speller73, Beatlesrokr, etc. etc. And possibly the GAPAs could tag along, seeing as it might be HUGE!
There is also talk of a massive cross-country carpool. That would be completely insane and very exciting.
Will anybody be able to visit NYC over February break?
If you’re really going to hold a big Kokon, one of you MBers should get your parents to start a Yahoo group on which all the parents can communicate. We GAPAs can’t be responsible for organizing anything in which we’re not involved. Nor can we let the blog be used for planning such an event. (Some of us might show up, though. It sounds like fun.)
399- I would probably be able to, parents permitting.
401- Hurrah!
My mom has a Yahoo group that she started for the DC Kokon in 2007, which could be used for this, too.
403 – That sounds flamablamablous!
This may really get off the ground! I’m so excited.
That sounds fun. I feel sad. I can’t come. *sobs*
397 (Cinamoon)- Actually, I live in Oregon (and I think Alice does, too), but my family has friends who live in Seattle whom we visit from time to time. Washington isn’t TOO far away for a weekend trip.
RE: Washington kokon:
I can go to Seattle. No further. Whatever happened to Meow and IBCF coming here? They could even bring Cinnamoon (carpool!). And then we could go to Portland and meet Kyra (I hope you don’t mind me calling you Kyra, but it’s the only part of your name that hasn’t changed, and I still want to call you MLS…). Hmm. Then we could pick her up (more carpooling!) and drive to Seattle in two cars, to see Tessera Rose. Then one car, containing Kyra and me, would come back south, and the other car, containing Meow, Cinnamoon, and IBCF, would head back to…where they live. We could stretch this out over several days so we all had plenty of time to hang out.
At least, this would be possible in an ideal world. As it is, no parent or GAPA would let Musers carpool like that. -sigh-
407- I’m completely fin with Kyra. That’s what I call myself on all the RPGs. You could call me MLS, even though I’m not obsessed with Mogget anymore. Of course, I cunningly (all right, completely on accident) hid the name of a math curriculum (CPM) in my initials so people might not like calling me that.
I’m sorta tired of going to people instead of people coming to me. I used to go to a dance studio that was thirty minutes away every week and then all the parents of the other kids complained when they had to drive thirty minutes to my town for the recital.
Also, to see my cousins who live in California, my family has to drive either to their house or to the cabin that my grandparents have at Lake Tahoe instead of them coming to my house. The one time they did, they insisted that it was “too long of a drive” so they couldn’t come anymore.
OK… They would come from Washington to get US and then we’d all drive BACK up to Seattle? That’s sort of insane.
I think it would be a good idea if everyone came to Portland.
On the plus side, my cousin got accepted into *insert name of University which happens to be in the town that I live in here* so she might be coming to live here! But she applied to 13 other schools so she will only go to *insert name of University which happens to be in the town that I live in here* if she doesn’t get accepted by any of the other colleges, which I personally doubt.
OK, that randomly turned into a Random Thread rant. Oh, well. You didn’t have to read that, but you did! HAHAHA!!!
I’ll be in NYC sometime in August for a wedding. I may also be able to visit my grandparents in a Chicago suburb during that time. Anyone in NYC in August?
408- I suppose they could pick up Tessera Rose in Seattle, come down here, pick up me, and we could all continue down to Portland and meet you. That would involve less driving.
409- August is fine with me.
399- Drats! I would, if I HAD a winter break. Which I don’t Gee, I’m never going to go to a Kokon! *bawl*
410- That’s fine. I probably won’t be free until summer; there’s a huge history project that sophomores have to do; it’s assigned mid-February and due the day before Memorial Day Weekend. Many past essay-type things have been over 70 pages long. 40 seems to be the minimum. And all I know about it is that it has to do with music. *gasp*
So we’re thinking Portland? Seattle? Someone in between?
409- August is probably good with me too.
Yaijah! I’d love to do the kokon, but it was really just a thought. I’ve never had one, but I’d like to…
Anyone live in MA?
Bookworm: No, but I’m really close. Down in CT…
417- Me. But I’ve been barking up that tree for the past year.
414- No idea.

It’s fun trying to plan things, though!!!
414: Are you going anywhere for mid winter break?
I’m still not allowed to kokonvene, and one ocean to the right of any MBers. But if someone visits Vienna, let me know. My mom would probably let me kokonvene in the city (she lets me go anywhere in the inner districts). I might be able to visit America in the summer…
Dah, we need to send in the pictures!
I’ll ask my mom when she gets home (home alone right now.).
Does anyone live or vacation in MI?
We’re going down to Chicago either over winter break or spring brea. If anyone want to Kokonvene…
423 – My mom downloaded them onto our computer, we just haven’t sent them in yet.
425: That’s good. My mother has her camera with her whereever she goes, so I can’t do it by myself. (that’s right, we haven’t even downloaded them yet.)
411, 415: OK, good. I’ll let you know the exact dates when I find out when the wedding is.
426 – I sent in the Kokon pictures!
I just hope the GAPAs will post them even though the Kokon was a month ago. I sent in one of the hurricane chamber ones, me and you on the rock wall, Hibiscus and tangerine on the rock wall, one of the pin wall, and us in front of the pin wall.
417- I think we’re planing a CT one, if you can make it down here that would work. Of course, I’m not sure what’s happened to that. And does MA mean Massachusetts becuase if not I’ll feel really stupid.
Um, all maybe CT kokon people, what happened? I know I still haven’t gotten my mom to e-mail the GAPA’s yet, sorry. Is that what we are waiting for or did it just die?
Anybody going to be in NYC for February break?
428: That means I need to force my mother to give permission. She’s taking a nap right now (you’d be tired too if you spent your Sunday dealing with idiotic cookie managers!).
430- I wish. I just found out that my school isn’t even HAVING February break! *headdesk*
Aaaagh! I can’t kokonvene anytime until my parents actually know about MuseBlog.
(428, 431) We’ll be happy to post the pictures once we have parental permission.
Yet again: Is there anyone in the vicinity of the Carolinas that would like to have a Kokon?
I tried to get my parents to get us a vacation in Chicago so we could organize a Kokon, but they complained about humidity and mosquitoes. We don’t have any mosquitoes here.
435- My grandparents live in the Outer Banks, so if I visit them over the summer we could Kokonvene.
Anyone in/near Boston during the Wellesley reunion? My mom’s a grad, and we’re hopefully going. I think it’s June 12? or 13? to the 14/15. All I know is it’s that weekend, really. Any takers?
437 – That would be fun. I think I’ll be around for the first half of June, the end of July and most of August.
My mom e-mailed the GAPAs with permission to post the pictures!
438- First half of June is no good for me, because finals week is the first week and then I’ll probably be in Boston the second weekend. End of July should be OK, possibly, but August looks pretty iffy because of the wedding in NYC and possible Chicago Kokon. So I’m guessing end of July.
440- SFTDP but my mom just said she wants me to have a Kokon in [Let’s just say Central New York –Admin.] this week! ANY TAKERS FOR ANYTIME THIS WEEK/WEEKEND?
441- Meh. The city I was referring to is an hour away from me. Therefore it cannot pose too much of a threat, right?
(442) “City in Central New York” gives enough information to any MBer who might be in the general vicinity.
I think we should have an Alaskan kokon this summer……
I know, completely unrealistic, but it would be so much fun.
439: Wait. Did your mom send the pictures as well? It’s cookie season, and my mom’s the manager for our city. I think she can find time to send permission… *asks* I got a “whatever.” Maybe I speak much to complicatedly… nah!
CENTRAL NEW YORK MBERS, OR ANYONE WHO COULD BE IN CNY DURING BREAK: KOKON?????
440 – Okay, I’ll mention it to my parents soonish so that the Kokon might actually work on my end.
444 – Well, I was in Alaska in summer of 2007… ;D
445 – Yes, she e-mailed the pictures earlier, but apparently we need parental permission for the GAPAs to post them. Maybe if they do post them, we’ll get a new thread!
448: I’ll go ask my mom! *runs upstairs* Dang. She’s dealing with incompetant cookie managers right now. (She called the GAPAs “the coco people”! *fumes*)
447–What part of AK? Did you go hiking in the mountains? That is definitely something that should be part of every visit to the state–they are so beautiful. Summer, huh? Were the mosquitos very bad at the time/location? They’re miserable little buggers, and if you’re even slightly close to water or woods they’re a zillion times denser–and given that I live by a lake……Let’s just say I don’t spend a lot of time outside in our yard during the height of mosquito season. Which, unfortunately, seems to comprise most of the summer. ‘though, on really sunny and beautiful days they’re usually not as bad, they prefer the drizzly/overcast weather.
447-
My parents said it’s probably not too possible
but are you going to be in NYC anytime in August? I’ve already got a Kokon set up, because I’m going to a wedding sometime in August. Boston in June is OK too.
451 – Eh, well. There’s a slim chance that I’ll be in New York in August, because my grandparents live there. I’ll see what I can do
450 – We did go on a several hikes, and they were beautiful. We were on a cruise of Alaska, but spent about a week in the state after the cruise was over. We saw a lot of impressive glaciers and wildlife. I seem to remember it raining most of the time that we were there. My mom had to dry my sister’s socks on the heater and they burned.
I am in NYC in august…I’m going to Stagedoor and then will be there for a week afterward. There is the problem of the parents, though…*headdesk* they don’t even know about MB.
43- That works for me!
BOSTON KOKON THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 12-14? Will anyone be there? It would be especially good if anyone’s moms are going to the Wellesley reunion.
452- That is actually rather weird: your grandparents live near me, and mine live near you.
453- Oh, good. So far I’ve got KaiYves and Vendaval as possible members…
452–Yes, it can be rainy. Especially depending on the part of the state. I remember once when I was much younger we went to….Whittier, I believe, and we did a little “cruise” thing. That is, we drove awhile, hopped on a train for awhile, got to Whittier (I think it was whittier) hopped ont he boat, and it was pouring rain and freezing, and so we were all inside the boat trying not to freeze, and not braving going outside in the hopes of watching a galicer calf. Although, I think we did go out for a little while, and i think we may’ve actually seen it calf, but I forget. It was a long while ago. It always seems to rain when you least want it to.
any portland mbers?
Come on! WILL ANYONE BE IN BOSTON, WELLESLEY OR REASONABLE VICINITY FROM JUNE 12-14??????
The pictures will be here in a few days or so! *yay*
GAPAs, can we have a new Kokonvention thread when the pictures come? This one’s getting kind of long, and new pictures would be a good way to start off a new thread.
(460) Don’t worry. We had the same thought.
455- Whereabouts in New York would we meet? [As we’ve said before, please keep all specific planning off the blog. –Admin.]
462- I honestly don’t know at this point. I don’t even know when the wedding is, or where. Probably when it gets closer to August, we can have our parents email the GAPAs or something.
At least twice a day, my friends have told me to stop squealing in joy.
Finally, you guys’ll see I’m a blond, freckled person with a bad case of acne!
When will the pictures be posted?
(465) No time like the present.
