Contrary to what you might expect, GAPAs did not invent GAPA Appreciation Day. Em created it on February 27, 2006. Em, Ebeth, and others quickly decided that it should be held every year on August 1 and should be celebrated by singing a version of the Llama Song (or another song by Jadestone).

The way I talk about the blog to people who don’t understand our… peculiar customs… is that it’s a giant email pen pal relationship that we all found in a magazine. True-ish, no?
More whim…
We are a culturally, racially, and religiously diverse community, and we get along perfectly well. That’s the beauty of it; we get to know each other before we know what we look like or talk like or what faith we believe in (in some form, anyway.) There’s no pressure to hang out with this or that group of people or anything, there’s no pressure to get good grades, we can just be ourselves and act crazy and weird.
