Aye, ’tis true: our beloved blog came into being one year ago today. We were so young then…
For whatever it’s worth, some thoughtful MBer has seen fit to designate this date as GAPA Appreciation Day. We’re not sure exactly what that entails or how it’s to be celebrated, but we’d be very surprised if airborne baked goods didn’t enter into the equation.
Thank you GAPAs! Without you, museblog would be nothing but…well, pretty much nothing, except for maybe a big pile of pie crust and fillings (and as entertaining as that may sound, it would get old very fast…)!

I learned the song from my Swedish friend, Katarina, who was my senior-year roommate in college. Just about every object in our room had a little Swedish label attached. Though most of our highly caffeinated 3:00 a.m. language lessons have long since faded from memory, every once in awhile phrases pop into my head.
I always remember the word for “butterfly” — “fjäril” — because I love the way it looks (who can resist languages that put “fj” together?), as well as how it sounds, like the flit and pause of the butterfly itself. (The word was taped to our shower door on account of the design etched into the glass.)

Sincerity is so rare on this blog that a simple, profound “thank you” often goes unnoticed. So, for that matter, do Robert and Rosanne, laboring away to satisfy the whims of impatient bloggers, and at the same time somehow running a Q&A column in Muse. So, GAPAs, I am offering each of you a pie, lovingly hand-crafted to your exact specifications, from the mixture of flavors and ingredients to the angle of flight when it is thrown. In each pie I will place a large amount of pureed flamablamaberry, a rare fruit only found on a certain tropical island off the coast of Museica, the location of which I am keeping secret so as to prevent people from stealing my recipe. The flamablamaberry’s taste starts with a burst of citrus, which then slowly fades to a cinnamony-sweet aftertaste that lingers in the mouth for hours. Place your orders, and I’ll get baking. This blog would not exist without you.
Let the trumpeters proclaim our joy at the blog’s first anniversary to the brilliantly blue skies! May the delicious pies rain freely and prolifically upon the noble heads of the loved and honored GAPAs. And may September come quickly so I can get the next Muse magazine.
