7- it depends. Do you know this person well, or is he just like a “Hey, I think I know that kid!” (HITIKTK) If option 1, buy. Buy to your heart’s content. If 2, then I’m sorry, but no game for you. But, if you’re ok with non-multiplayer games, then it’s a different story.
9-Rreally? It’s probably going to do even better than that in the US. I think there’s a lot of Pokefreaks here, but not many die-hards who buy the Japanese version on Ebay and try to translate it.
I read a lot about Platinum on Serebii. It has a TON more stuff than Diamond or Pearl. You can catch the 3 bird legendaries from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (or at least I think that’s where they’re from)!!!

Well, I got the paper with the contract and gave it to the business guy. At this point, you’re supposed to be able to go to room 1, find a piece of paper on the ground, and use vivian to make Zip Toad come out. Well, when I got there, there was no paper!

100- Sorry about that. What does turn-based mean?
104 – It’s strictly done in turns based on an agility stat – the characters do actions in a set order. So for example, in Golden Sun, this might be a possible order:
Issac goes first
Mia goes next
Garet goes next
the monster attacks
Ivan goes next
and it usually repeats like this
New theory on Roxas/Xion/Axel: They are Sora/Kairi/Riku’s nobodies respectively. We know about Sora and Roxas.
Kairi/Xion: Two reasons for this theory. First, Kairi never took the form of a heartless at all throughout KH1. She couldn’t move or do anything, but she still retained her original body. Also, it has been said that she has a connection to Kairi and Namine. The only typical connection in that series is heartless/nobody. The heartless possibility is eliminated with the fact that all the Org. members are nobodies.
Riku/Axel: We’ve never actually known who Riku’s nobody is. Look at the Tokyo 2008 commercial for 358/2 days and you’ll see the three nobodies sitting by a tree at Destiny Islands. Now look at the Destiny Islands cutscenes for KH1. They are almost the same, right?
Finally, about the naming issue (all Org. members supposedly have a name that is an anagram of their original name with an X added): I think Roxas and Xemnas were just special cases, because the others don’t work out that well.

112 – I am now following a new theory gaining momentum: Xion is Sora AND Kairi’s nobody. Here’s how it works:
-Xion is said to have a connection to Kairi and Namine. She looks very much like Kairi.
-However, she can also use the Kingdom Key (the original, not Mickey’s), and Sora is the only one known to use kingdom key.
-Kairi did not actually turn into a heartless when her heart was trapped in Sora’s, which led me to believe that Kairi has two hearts – an ordinary one and a Princess of Heart one. Namine was created using one of these, and Xion was created using Sora’s heart (or it could be that Sora’s heart merged with Kairi’s heart in his body) and Kairi’s other heart.
-The name issue actually works out. If you combine an “r” and an “i”, you get a very crude “n”. This means that, without the X, Xion gets one letter from Sora, one letter from Kairi, and half a letter from each of them. So it works out evenly.
Is that genius or what

I JUST BEAT THE ELITE FOUR IN POKÉMON PLATINUM!!! Although it is possibly the only game in the series which has so much more to do after you beat them.
If anyone here plays Twilight Princess, I found a fun glitch: when you are fighting Ganondorf in the final stage, if you deliver him the finishing blow with your Zora/Magic armor on, you will wear it throughout the ending and credits. This creates another interesting glitch – normally, if you put the Magic Armor on while riding Epona, she throws you off. However, during the credits, there is a scene where you are riding Epona, and it doesn’t change in any significant way, even when you are wearing the Magic Armor. Cool, huh?
BTW, GAPAs, I noticed something I think I should report: sometimes, when I use the search box, the list of back covers will be above the search results. And I mean the ENTIRE list of back covers, all the way back from 1997. It doesn’t actually matter too much, but it’s a little annoying to have to scroll down so much.

The combo pack is amazing by the way to anyone that doesn’t have it, it includes five of the best games ever. Empire at War, KotOR, Battlefront, JK2-Outcast, and Republic Commando.
And I like battlefront one better than battlefront 2.

But BF2 has so much more stuff than BF1! There’s a mod out there that puts all the BF1 maps in BF2, plus adds KOTOR era and new units, including Delta Squad. And the person who made that mod has just made another one that adds another era called the Dark Times.
Speaking of Battlefront, has anyone played Lord of the Rings: Conquest? It’s a LOTR version of Battlefront and it looks pretty cool.
maybe its better with the mods, but straight up, BF1 is better than BF2 with the exception of two things
1. you can’t kill heroes
2. Assault mode on mos eisley
Playing as the heroes is fun too, but the hero controls are clunky and its no fun when your online and there’s a guy with a lightsaber just killing everyone
Oh, you can kill heroes in BF1 by 1. Throwing them of a ledge with a detonator, 2. tank-busting them, and 3. skewering them with a speeder. But why can’t you lie down in BF2? I don’t know why Lucasarts changed it.
Can’t wait for BF3! It’s supposed to have huge massive battles, with space-air-land going on all at once.

I also have BF: Renegade Squadron for the PSP, which is pretty good with the customization process and more maps than ever.
There are some production issues with BF3, though… I really hope it comes out on PC.

I had a question for you about Platinum: I read that Platinum is mostly just a remake of Diamond/Pearl. So should I get Diamond/Pearl AND Platinum, just Diamond/Pearl, or just Platinum?
Platinum has a slightly different storyline (only slightly, mind you), so it would probably be worth it to get both.
I say you just get Platinum. Platinum has so much more stuff and the story is much, much better than Diamond and Pearl’s. I love the Spear Piller cutscene in Platinum but it was just blah in Diamond.

I agree about Lugia. I don’t think they’ll be doing a Crystal remake, though. The games come out this fall in Japan, so it’s logical that they’re coming next spring. Also, I always choose the water type.

I played a game demo for some new Sonic game on the X-box 360 recently. For 2 minutes. Aaaand I don’t know what else to say. Except that I got Riven at a yard sale last year, in it’s 5-CD form. It was cool, but the constant switching of CDs ruined it a bit. Plus I didn’t get the puzzle with all the domes and the map, it was really confuzzling.

Anyone play the online game “Super Crazy Guitar Maniac?” #1 is pretty stupid, but #2 and 3 are good. It’s basically Guitar Hero on the computer.
So, what did everybody think of E3 this year? I thought the new info on known games and entirely new game announcements look cool. In case you missed, here are some of the major events:
-Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. New trailer that revealed some bosses, items, and stuff.
-KH: 358/2 Days. New trailer that, while it didn’t reveal very much new stuff, looks very cool.
-Metroid: The Other M
-Super Mario Galaxy 2. Will have a lot of new worlds and the inclusion of Yoshi.
-New Super Mario Bros. Wii. A sequel to NSMB on DS, with cooperative multiplayer and new power-ups
-Golden Sun DS. Finally finally finally, FINALLY, a NEW Golden Sun game!
I think SMG2 and NSMBW look very cool, but I’m getting a little bit down with all these sequels.

Hmmm.I was at my cousins’ house a couple of days ago and we ransacked the entire house to find Harry Potter 1 and 2 for PC. Those games were our childhood memories… We eventually found 1 (but not 2) and popped it into the CD drive. It’s amazing how bad the graphics are in that game! The characters’ mouths don’t even move when they talk! At least they do that in the second one. What we accomplished was getting halfway into the Lumos challenge and unanimously agreeing that the second game was better.
I loved the old Harry Potter games. Good memories… although I couldn’t get past the next-to-last part of 1 and the final boss of 2 was really easy.
I thought it was funny how the final boss of 2 was a big purple snake. But yes, it was really easy.
It’s a BASILISK! Of course the final boss is going to be a big snake! Although I suppose it should be green and not purple…
The Harry Potter games were too easy to be any real challenge.
I’ve been playing my way through Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, Half Life 2 (amazing atmosphere, that; it’s like playing through 1984) and for old times’ sake, Civilization III.
KH:Days is supposed to be impossibly challenging, though. Which means it’s going to be SWEET!

That’s what I have! Almost exactly the same thing, except I think mine might be even older. It’s a little slow, but it works great. It got some virus a year ago and I had to wipe the hard drive, but it’s fine now.
I got an extra memory chip for it, so it has 703 MB of Ram. But the 37 GB total hard-drive space is irksome. And a couple months ago it kept overheating and turning off. Solution: Vacuum the huge wad of dust out of the fan.

Beatles Rockband looks absolutely flamablamablous. I was watching some clips from it on the Beatles’ website, and they did a stunningly good job. Except John doesn’t look like John when he was younger. My friend thought it was hysterical when the serious voice-over came on: “Rated T for TEEN. Mild Lyrics and Tobacco Reference.”
I really hope I get it from my *coughratherwealthycough* aunt for Xmas.

. The songs are wide and varied, the gameplay is just like Rock Band except easier (good for people who are bad at it, like me), and there’s plenty of unlockables and things to keep you at it for months.

About Sims 3: I do not know personally if it is any good, but my friend has it, and she says it’s wicked awesome. I could have gotten it, but I chose Sims 2 Double Deluxe because a) it was WAY less expensive, (and I was paying for it with y own money) and b) the Sims 3 characters I found to be too realistic and/or freaky.

I know- it may quite possibly be my favorite DS game of all time, I like it more than Super Mario. I’m on Day 255 right now.
Isn’t that the “why the sun sets red” cutscene near the beginning? And I think I’m currently on the set of missions you do with Xion, somewhere around day 78, but I have no idea how to get past the room with the abyss in the cave (Agrabah).
First of all, most of the game is a flashback, and I’ve just finished that part. Also, the way you get past the abyss room is by examing panels 1, 2, and 3 (or maybe just 1 and 2) and then going off to the right in the aforementioned room. Some steps will appear, and then you’ll get to fight Pete. Pete is a fun boss, by the way.
Yeah, I already got it. Now, I’m around day 117 (I think).
Does anyone else here know/play Plants vs. Zombies? It’s an insanely addicting game where you defend your house against brain eating zombies, using plants that kill zombies.

I just finished Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days…. it’s amazing. There are two things I don’t like about it: it seems to randomly jump between somewhat easy and incredibly hard. And although it was emotionally moving at times, I did not cry once throughout the game.
But all of those memorable times with Roxas, Axel, and Xion all together… *happy :cry:*
I’m taking a break form it at the moment; for some reason, I just cannot make it through the second Games.
If you’re trying to hit the Heartless with barrels – I say forget it. The mission doesn’t say how you’re supposed to kill them, and you still get hearts hitting them with the keyblade.
I said the Games, not the training (In the second Games, hitting the barrels is actually incredibly useful). Now I’m trying to beat the Ruler of the Sky.

Yeah, that guy is annoying. That’s another very small problem I have – most of the bosses are somewhat easy, but incredibly tedious and annoying.
I just equipped the Lift Gear, and he was easy as pie! Yay! Now, about that Orcus…
Is this the first time you’re taking him on, or the second? If it’s the first one, don’t put a whole lot of effort into it. If it’s the second time, I highly recommend synthesizing the Ultimate Gear (or the Ultimate Gear+ – even better!) – not just for him, but for that whole mission.
PMD drooling… I’m not even a third of the way through yet and I’m hooked… My team kind of sucks, though.

Hmmm…I’m not a huge gamer (Until just recently, I didn’t even have a hand held game) but now we own Nintendo DS and the Wii. Nothing too challenging though. (Or at least by my standards, which probably means that this is practically toddler stuff for you guys…

My favorite game is Mario Kart on the Wii – it’s addicting! And it’s the first game I’ve actually ever truly “mastered”. Haven’t played it in ages though, probably because a lot of it is so repetitive. Once you unlock all of the races (We’re still working towards Mirror Mode, but I think that’s about it) it’s just the same stuff over and over again.
186 – I played SimCity at my friend’s house – from the small portion I saw, it seemed really fun. Everything is so detailed, and she has the newest version (not sure which one that is now though) so the graphics are great.

It was awesome, and it was… confusing. Kind of.
I know, but isn’t every Kingdom Hearts trailer? Anyway, here is my breakdown analysis of it (warning! contains spoilers):
Aqua meets someone in an Organization cloak who looks like Ansem the Wise in the Realm of Nothingness. Okay, this automatically opens up a world of questions. I’m sure some of these are answered in BBS, but how did Aqua get there? She talks as if she has met him. Has she? How come he made the Organization cloaks? We haven’t heard about that yet. I could go on and on, but I need to move to the next scene.
We see various people saying Sora’s name. This is after DiZ is telling Aqua that Sora now has the Keyblade. This implies that this takes place at least after the beginning of KH1. We see AXEL, ROXAS, AND XION talking about Sora on the clock tower. THAT WASN’T IN 358! This is an entirely new scene, with XION, who is DEAD. This alone is cause for much speculation, but then we see Roxas talking with TERRA! Wrong game, people!
Man, that was just so amazing. I know my breakdown wasn’t complete, but really, that’s all you need to see to know that it will be the best game since KHII:FM.

I just found this insanely awesome app for my iPod that is a soundboard for Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. You tap on the images of them doing stuff, and it makes the sound of them doing it! You can even play music in the background. It’s called iTriforce, and it’s only a buck to boot!

It looks interesting, but I checked out the ESRB entry for it and it seems to be pushing its T rating. So I probably can’t play it.

The thing that ticks me off about it is – there’s a special version with English and Japanese dubs, as well as a free copy of the concept art book. And this Premium version is coming out for the PS2 but not the Wii.
I mean… that just makes no sense at all.
So, to cut a long, rambling question short, which is the best Zelda game for the DS?
‘Cause I’ve been thinking about getting a new DS game, because my DS is currently way underused. I’ve got an expensive piece of electronics around, might as well use it. Anyway, I wanted the sort of game which you don’t have to come on every day, because while those are fun, you can only play with them for so long before they get boring. And I decided on Zelda because by all accounts, they’re good games. If you have other suggestions, I’m open to hearing those too.
I think Spirit Tracks is better, but you probably want to play Phantom Hourglass (and Wind Waker, if you haven’t) to understand the story better.
I haven’t played either of them, but we don’t have a GameCube, so Wind Waker would be harder. Actually, I think I might have played Wind Waker for maybe half an hour once, but I’m not sure about that.
We do have a Wii, and my DS, so those are my options.
I probably should go with Phantom Hourglass. Spirit Tracks looks really cool, but I imagine both of them are fun.

Well, Wii can play Gamecube games. Or you could just look at the plots online.
As for Spirit Tracks versus Phantom Hourglass, it depends on what you like. Spirit Tracks is quite a bit harder, but Phantom Hourglass really doesn’t have much replay value once you’ve beaten the main story.

But I don’t think I want to invest in a video game that depends on my being able to use the Wii, because the Wii belongs to my brother, and all sorts of complications would probably arise if I tried to use his console for my game.
Anyway, both is sounding rather good at the moment. I’m not that good at video games, so it’d probably be good to have something easier, but like I said, Spirit Tracks looks really cool.
…And looking up prices for the store I’ve got a gift card to, it appears that getting both would require me to shell out thirty bucks. Meh. Well, it’s probably worth it, and it’s not like I don’t have much more than thirty dollars hoarded away never to be spent.

I need a new video game that will run on my 2002 computer. I’ve been researching Morrowind, and it seems like a good choice. Has anyone here played it?
Yes. I really liked the freedom you have in the game, and also the ability to change around your character.
On a similar note, have you ever played Oblivion? It’s just an earlier version of that, really.
Also- I recommend ‘Freespace-The Great War’- newtonian physics space craft shooter game. Loved it and it’s sequel.

Can somebody give me a game recommendation? Next weekend, my parents and I will be going up to our condo near a skiing mountain, and my two eldest cousins might be coming up. I’m think of getting a game for the trip (since I’ll be bringing my computer, Wii, and DS), but I can’t decide between:
1. Spirit Tracks, the most epic, the largest (in terms of side-quests and stuff), and the one I’ve been looking forward to the most
2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which looks like the most fun for multiplayer (probably won’t get it if my cousins don’t come, though)
3. Rabbids Go Home, the one that looks like the absurdly, stupidly funniest.
4. Portal, which looks like the most unique and the most clever concept.
Suggestions?
If you haven’t already, get the Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii. It is epicly awesome. New Super Mario Bros Wii does a fun multiplayer, and the end levels are very challenging.
Meh, I really don’t like first-person shooters. Metroid Prime 3 does look really cool and developed, but the only FPS I’ve ever even slightly liked is Halo 3.

Muselover–I totally agree with what you’re saying. I mean, the least they could do is make Feebas easy to catch. But nooo, they have to make it incredibly hard to catch, along with training and evolution. Moving on, what’s your favorite pokemon? Mine changes a lot, but right now, it’s either Leafeon, Dewgong, or Glaceon.
SWAMPERT PWNS. I always choose the Water-type starter, and as Emerald was the first Pokémon game I got (and second game overall), I guess I felt an emotional attachment to it. Also, I do have a Feebas in my Platinum game. It took a ton of frustrating searching, but I finally caught one.

I’ve also “started over” with a team of absol, electabuzz, piplup, and houndor. It’s pretty fun, but depressing because there’s no storyline.
Speaking of storyline, what’s up with the end? Team Raider’s just hanging around at the beach doing nothing and diglett never gets to see his dad again… kind of depressing, don’t you think?

I got Totodile too, but didn’t change its name. Now it’s a level 61 Feraligatr. I’ve added five more badges since yesterday. Right now I’m trying to catch Suicine, but it keeps fainting instead of being caught, even though it’s on the last sliver of health AND is paralyzed. I may just leave it alone for a while and come back to it.

So uh. I would absolutely love to play the new pokémon game, or even just diamond/pearl/platinum, but as I have no DS… *sigh* I am nearly to the point of breaking down and getting one.
Any other Mario fans out there? My favorite game is SMB3. Despite its Ancientness, it’s challenging and fun. I like all of the powerups like the Tanooki Suit and Raccoon Mario. I have New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, but it’s so EASY once you get the hang of it. Also, it’s boring how you’re in Fire Mario all the time. I like in SMB3 how the Leaf was moer common, and Fireflowers were rarer.
If you liked Super Mario Bros. 3, you should definitely try out New Super Mario Bros. Wii – I believe the former inspired the new Propellor Suit and airship levels in the latter, as well as the return of the Koopalings. Not to mention, even beating the main game is a bit of a challenge (maybe not very long to get through if you have plenty of time, but challenging).
I tried the Mario Wii game…it’s really hard. And I have no motovation, except for Pokemon.
Yeahh.. it sounds fun, only I don’t have a Wii. Or SMB3, for that matter- I play it online. I really ought to get it, I’m sure the save feature will be helpful. They didn’t make it for DS, did they? Well, my DS can play Gameboy games, but only the smaller kind. I must do some research.
In the online SMB3, I’ve been using the Warp Whistle to travel to whatever world I’m trying to beat, and then I have to beat it in one go. So far I’ve beaten worlds 1, 2, 4, and 5. I still haven’t quite beaten world 3.
1) You should definitely get a Wii, as there is a ton of stuff you can do – play Gamecube games, play games from old Nintendo systems like NES on Virtual Console (and that does include SMB3
), go on to the internet – for not very expensive prices.
2) There’s the “original” New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, the one on Wii is just a sequel.
SMB3 is so freaking hard! I’m on the boss of world 7 and I just can’t beat him! I need some SMB3 freak to come and do it for me so I can move on.
Actually, on SMB3 I have my normal file (World 7) and my magic flute file in which I used the magic flute to get to world 8 and dang those levels are hard! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to finish that game!
I’ve been playing Myst recently…
HARD GAME.
My dad just proved that the puzzle I’ve been trying to solve is impossible with the current information, which is annoying, but whatever, so I’m going to go do something else. He also replaced the disc drive on the ancient computer set up to run Myst, so it’s a lot faster. Before, it was a good game to play while you were reading a book.

Yeah. Exaggerating maybe slightly. And it was even more frustrating when I wanted to watch the movies that were vital to the plot. It would show me a half second, then just sit there and not do anything for the rest of the movie. So the movie was playing, but the computer wasn’t showing it.
That was frustrating. VERY frustrating.
But it’s better now. I click, and it goes! It’s amazing!

Still haven’t gotten either of the Zelda games I asked about earlier. Need to do that. No point right now of course; my DS has been taken away. I’ll see when I can get it back.

Hey I-Man, I just found a new interview with Tetsuya Nomura (creator o Kingdom Hearts) that says… well, I’ll let you see for yourself. Here are some interesting tidbits:
Those calling “Sora†in that scene are all people who have already left this world. But there is no concept of death in the world of KH, and so the image is of sleeping in Sora’s heart for example. If they could be woken up, they should be able to be brought back into this world, and so that’s what “born from sleep†means. Ansem the Wise was speaking of this possibility. Aqua isn’t in the world of light either, so perhaps she too will come born from sleep.
I’ve heard that some fans suppose that the series will probably end with KHIII, but the developing Kingdom Hearts series is being made with the intent that everything up until KHIII, which is to come, is the first part of an even bigger series. Sora is the hero of Kingdom Hearts, but the first part of the series, unfolding now, is the Xehanort saga. Hasn’t Xehanort always been the enemy since KHI?
…and some more stuff about Sora’s role in the series, etc. But this means that KHIII IS OFFICIAL!!!

I don’t really like first person shooters (the only one I liked at all was Halo 3), but I liked what I played of the original Metroid on Virtual Console, I like science-fiction (particularly good plots and weird alien life forms), and I like adventure-action-exploration games like Zelda. Should I get the Metroid Prime Trilogy compilation?
Anyone see the new Pokemon starters? They aren’t fantastic, but the water one looks cute. The fire one has similar colors to a raichu, and thus I think it should not be fire. Plus it’s ugly.
