Awesome image, Rebecca! Or whoever made it, I guess…

We might be doing Beauty and the Beast for our school musical (not ’til May, but they pick the musical early) – the whole class wants to, but the teachers have a significant say in the matter. I really hope we can do it.

Man. I’ve been re-reading the old Pie War threads and remembering how awesome they were before they degenerated into a mess of gore and out-of-character conflict.
I’ll have to bring back Zanzibar Urquhart in some form someday.
Anyway, back on topic. I agree, awesome image. It will make a good adornment at the Halloween Ball.

  4. (1, 2, 3) Thanks! This one started with a tutorial I found on the Internet for making 3D text look icy. It’s taken me two days and several versions to get to its current appearance.

    (3) Interesting you should say that, as the ball inspired the image. All that talk about fog was in my mind when I saw the tutorial sample, which made me think of dry ice effects:

As you can see, I took some liberties….

I already posted this, but this is a new thread, so here are my Halloween plans:
I’m thinking that i might be:
    Shakespeare
The Gingerbreadman (for a particularly creepy costume)
A stormtrooper after a run in with a jedi (lightsaber embedded in helmet)
    something museish
camoflage (glue shrubbery to black clothing)
    Spike from SpecOps 17
    Professor Abdullah Nightengale
    or something completely different.
if any of these costumes just don’t make sense, feel free to ask.

I’m going to be a stick figure. I’ll have a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Then, I’ll get some glow-in-the-dark paint and paint lines around the rim of the hood, down the front of the jacket, and down each arm of the jacket and leg of the pants. Then, when I go trick-or-treating, I’ll put the hood up so that the painted line forms a circle around my head, and the rest of the lines will be the body of the stick figure.

10–The last time my dad allowed me to trick or treat was when i was about 12 or so. And he barely let me thyen, because I was “too old”. I was really pissed, given that my sister was TWO YEARS OLDER and that was her last year, as well. My mom was of the opinion, that we could keep trick or treating as long as she wanted to, like she got to,a nd then just stop when we decided we were too lold. like for her, she stopped when she was out trick or treating in HS, and somebody asked her “Aren’t yoyu too old for trick or treating?”

But, seriously, if you’re dressed up in a costume, and having fun, I don’t see how you’re too old…..but I dunno……

  17. oxlin says:

I stopped trick or treating per say after eighth grade. In ninth grade I went around to some friends’ houses and trick or treated there. In tenth we may have gone trick or treating for a little bit during a hallowe’en party but I don’t really remember. In eleventh and twelfth we went trick or canning meaning we collected food for a food shelf when we went door to door. This was an event that NHS did every year. People still give you candy as well as the cans and you get to go door to door in costume. Last year we were able to fill the entire back of a truck with the food we’d collected.

    Oh god.
It’s Sunday night, before homecoming week. Mother’s out listening to music at the Fort.
My Irrational Fear is pretty awful.
Sailors and actors are both superstitious, and I want to be a sailor and an actress, so it’s only natural I should be a tiny bit superstitious, particularly on this point.
Last year, the Sunday before homecoming week, the house burnt down. Pretty regularly since then, I’ve had Irrational Fear regarding house fires. It’s worse considering that were a fire actually to occur, the only way of getting out would be to jump. Or climb down the pipe outside my window. There’s always that option; I’d forgotten. It’s not that I think it’s terribly likely our house will burn down, but I can’t get it out of my head, and when I was little I was always taught that thinking about something made it more likely to happen.
God, guys, I’m so scared! I think at this point the wisest thing to do would be go to sleep so I don’t have to think about it.
What sucks though is that both our smoke alarms started malfunctioning (the little test button would get jammed so it’d go off even if there was no trace of smoke). Not that smoke alarms were very useful last year, but it’s sort of comforting knowing they’re there, at least when you know they won’t malfunction.

Anyway, I’m going to bed. The cats aren’t acting funny; I’ll take that as a good sign. Please excuse my hideous misuse of semicolons.

On the bright side, I got 100% on the 1st Critical Reading Section of the Practice Test for the PSAT. And I finished four minutes before time ran out.
Not that that’s much to brag about, considering. Maybe while my sis is bathing I’ll do the next section. Math. Yay.

    I survived!

My blue jeans had holes in the knees and were starting to wear through in places, so I patched them up with colorful fabric. Then I got a bit carried away and also embroidered all the fraying edges. I’m by no means finished, though. I have a great many more weak spots to patch and I think I want to embroider over all the tiny little stains that appear when you have only one pair of light blue jeans for a year.
    It’s very exciting.

I also found all thirteen episodes of Marauders of the Cosmos (anyone else listen to Riders Radio Theater when they were small?) and listened to them in order for the first time in my life. If only I could find the others.

Nice pic Lady B. (that reminds me, I should send in some HPB art I did recently, if I can get the scanner to work). I have the day off school. thanksgiving was nice. rather tasty I must say. I made the pumpkin pie again this year.

15- can you sew? my suggestions are two things. fiind a pattern you like that is pretty simple and make it. or 2: go to goodwill or whatever you guys have down there in the USofA that is inexpensive used clothing and get a dress or shirt and skirt that you can use as a base and then add stuff to it.

16- my last year of trick or treating was grade 8. I just felt much too old. but dressing up is still a fun thing to do.

17- yeah friends of mine did that.

42- Dude, the PSATs are so friggin simple. So are the SATs for that matter. I took them in seventh grade to become a Junior Scholar, and I found at least the language sections ridiculously mundane. Good thing there are unintelligent people out there to make life easier for the rest of us (and this is probably the one aspect they do that in).

50- I LOVE National Treasure. Particularly the guy who plays the sidekick, Riley. I was substantially ticked when I discovered he was dating an Olsen twin.

So I had a lovely weekend. Went to the mall and got to hang out with my besties on Saturday. Since we’re all going to different schools now, time spent with them is even dearer. Those of my friends who go to ___________ High School have a new friend named Jimmy who they brought along again (we’d chilled before at their football game and at the movies seeing Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, a film I highly recommend). He’s a bit effeminate, but he cracks me up. And my wonderful semi-bf seems as though he’s ready to ask to become my actual bf, which only adds to my stockpile of joy. Of course I had to return to the moronic inferno today, but Wednesday’s a half day, and we’re all trying to do something together then.

Yes…… I will elaborate. I am an alter ego, as I want this to remain private.

One of my friends was in a car accident a few weeks ago, and he’s in a coma. His mother is single, and she’s not working because she was hurt too. The hospital doesn’t think my friend is going to come out, and they want to cut off his life support. His mother is going to court about it, today. His mother’s boyfriend was driving the car, and he’s now really depressed and guilt-ridden. And he’s an immigrant who only got here maybe a year ago, and he really doesn’t have many friends. And most of the people who know him well got into a fight with him a few weeks before the car crash, so he can’t turn to them.
So……… yeah. I’m having a hard time. But they have it harder.

69–learner’s permits–I remember getting mine. I was completely indifferent, didn’t care about learning to drive, and avoided driving lessons as much as possible, because they always deteriorated into my dad screaming at me and me crying. So, I wasn’t ready to get my license after two years (I got my first permit shortly after I turned 14), and so I renewed my permit, getting a second on, and then a few months later, about 5 months after I turned 16, I got my license. lol, try parallel parking a minivan! Actually, I ahd practiced so much with dad (god, talk about miserable–I think I was nonstop crying/screaming every parallel parking lesson with dad) that I parked it to the DMV’s satisfaction on my test. Still couldn’t care less that I could drive, getting my license was more something my parents were going for, I never was one of those, omg, I can drive people. Although, I admit, it was nice being able to drive myself to work, instead of biking the two miles! And the freedonm is nice, and although I don’t *love* driving, I am also perfectly comfortable with it.

See, then everyone would be happy!

    Definition:

    Remonitions: (Re-mon-ih-shons)

I don’t like being given math problems that I haven’t been taught to solve. Like on the PSAT practice test. I’m probably going to get really low scores on the math section, not because I’m bad at math, but because I haven’t been taught how to solve the problems they assign me. And then my sister kept trying to talk to me and Cricket walked all over my paper and Opal kept talking to me and I let her borrow my bike helmet but the thing is, if she wears it she adjusts it and then it doesn’t fit me, so I told her not to adjust it and she kept arguing with me and I didn’t understand the math problems and it made me want to beat my head against the wall. It isn’t fair!
The problem with the math section is that I’m kind of slow when it comes to math, especially if I’m new to the concept, and not all of the problems make any sense anyway. So I rushed through and didn’t work all the problems out and then when I had finished most of them I went back and guessed on the really hard ones. And I FAILED.
And the reading and writing sections are so easy.
Sometimes I wish I had paid more attention when my parents tried to teach me math. I don’t understand why they made me go to school anyway. It was so fun for the first few months, and now it’s not.

Back home, it’s unusual not to ahve snow by Halloween, and almost every year of my life, the lake by my house would be frozen solid enought to walk on by Thanksgiving–which usually meant we’d had a fairly decent amount of snow by then…..Dang, I miss the normal weather back home. Re: 107,104,103: I don’t have a specific problem that I need help on, I was merely totally confused about the problem that had baffled me. I thought that I was supposed to calculate the area of the square and add it to the area of the triangle in order to get the area of the polygon. But I was wrong. I’m not entirely sure how to get the area of the polygon, but oh well. I discovered that if you leave a question blank it doesn’t count against you, and by utilizing that method managed to get a slightly-lower-than-average score (45). My score in critical reading is 80. Figures.

    Pie 0
    Squid 0
  110. ⚡☽Luna the Lovely☾⚡ (8 Potterpoints!) says:

110–Well, if you have a polygon that is composed of a square and a triangle fused along one side (like a house shape), then the area of the polygon would be the area of the triangle plus the area of the square. I’m fairly certain there is a generic formula for finding the area of polygons, but I’m afraid i odn’t remember what it is.

Now, as far as the altitude of a triangle. I did a tad bit of refreshing on my algebra/geometry/whatever level math that is skills, and the altitude would be the height of the triangle. So, if you are given the area, you can calculate the height (altitude).

A= 1/2(b)(h) where b is the length of the base (the side of the triangle perpendicular to the imaginary line that represents the altitude) and h is the height (altitude).

So, say your triangle has area 16, base 4.

Plugging these numbers into the equation,

    16= 1/2(4)h

    16= 2h

    8 = h

    The altitude would be 8.

You say you were merely totally confused about the problem that had baffled you. Could you post that problem? Or any problem on the test that you had trouble with? I would be willing to help you if I could.

An 80 on the critical reading? Wow, that’d be 100%–keep it up on the actual test! As far as the other score, well, I know fo rme, I always did better ont he actual test thanon the practice test, because I was so much more focused. There were too many distractions while I was taking the practice exam. I don’t remember what I got on the PSAT crit. reading, but on the SAT I got 740, which would be the same as 74 on the PSAT–not as good as the 80 you got on the practice!

I’m sure you will do much better than you think. Just review the problems you missed/skipped, and ask people–anyone–for help if you cna’t figure them out on your own. The types of problems on those tests are ususally pretty standar, they ask variations of the same question, making it fairly easy to beat the test. You learn how they think, and then outsmart them!

Before they ring the bell, however, they leave a cache of candy on your doorstep with a note and a picture of a ghost inside. This note explains what you have to do when you get the ghost: make copies of it and paste your copy on the front window of your house, so nobody can ghost you again that Halloween. You can enjoy your candy, but then you have the task of ghosting three more houses on your block and giving them candy, too. That way, when Halloween comes, everyone has been visited by a ghost and has a little extra candy, even if they don’t go trick-or-treating.

okay. The reason I’m not posting my name is becuase I am having issues with a teacher and just need some advice. okay. so I have this teacher with whom I seriously disagree over his teaching methods. That is beside the point because after his actions on tuesday even my friend who liked him lost all respect. (note this didn’t happen in my class, but in the class imediately after). Okay, so in my class (we had to do short stories) he told us we watch too much TV and that most short stories were not very good and that he wished he could fail people for boring content. Now in the period directly after (and this is the part I find inexcusable and down right discusting, vulgar and rude) he actually read the beggining of someone’s story out loud and explain why it was terrible. I believe he either likened the stories he recieved or that one in particular (not entirely sure, but still what hhe said is just wrong) anyways, he told the class it was like someone invited him over for dinner took the food out of the garbage, put human waste on it (I am using much nicer terms than he did, believe me), stuck it in a blender and forced him to drink it. If I had been in that class i would have left and gone down to the VPs office. This has made me so angry that I need to vent under a different name. I can’t believe he said that! IT IS JUST SO WRONG! IT WAS ENTIRELY UNNECESSAIRY! UUUURGH! it was people’s personal work he was talking about. it wasn’t an essay or a newspaper article it was a freaking short story!!!!!!! How can you completely disreggard the fact that someone probably freaking cared about that story and say what he said??????/????????? IT MAKES ME SO MAD! it made everyone so mad. I don’t want to ever give him anything to mark ever again if he is going to show such a complete lack of respect. What is everyone elses opinions on this incident? GAPAs? Musers? what would you do? I know that if he ever does that in my class I am leaving. I never want to be subjected to that sort of public humiliation. *Is angry enough to puch a wall* It just makes me so freaking angry.

137–to be honest, the guy sounds like a total *******. I mean, it would be one thing to say that he doesn’t think anybody’s stories were very well written, and that he thinks this is due to everybody watching too much tv. You may not agree with him, but perhaps he has a legitimate point. But to read part of someone’s story to a class, and then criticize it–and not constructive critism–that is just him being an ******. And for him to not just read it and say it sucked, but to compare it to being force fed ****, well, damn. What is public education coming to?

Again, it would have been one thing to have read part of someone’s paper out loud and and said it wasn’t very poorly written for x, y, and z. Admittedly, I still wouldn’t be too thrilled with this, especially if I was the one who wrote the paper, but at least he would be doing something semi-helpful. But just insulting the paper, well, no.

What would I do? Probably sit in class fighting back tears if it was my paper, silently cussing him out,a nd then venting to my friends (if I had a ny)/parents/sister/MBers. And glaring at him as best I could while fighting off tears. Honestly though, I really don’t have any good advice about what to do. Sorry. *hugs*

Oh another point, I finally managed to get the better of a webnsite I’ve been trying (without previous success) to pump more information out of, so – joy! – I now can find the members list! (No, I’m not breaking in, it’s a link on the main page that didn’t work last time!)
And shoot, I told whats-his-name that I’d contact the group (it’s the pirate-music group that one of the members wanted me to join), and I never did, because at this point I doubt that it would work very well, although I’d be interested (perhaps, if I can bring myself to abandon all historical accuracy) in the near-ish future (the next couple years, perhaps).

It’s “Pirates for Sail”– if the GAPAs want to allow that through. I don’t live in the town they meet, in case you were wondering. (you can snip if you want, I really don’t care, although I think Robert would get a kick out of it.)

I have a bio test in two hours, and I am already horribly nervous…..my stomach is all fluttery…..I don’t get why I’m so worried. I mena, sure I only got an 84 on the last test, but still. I never got nervous like this for tests in highschool, even in courses wehre I was consistently getting B’s on tests. I dunno. I just want this test over with. Of course, then I have to start worrying aobut psych next week, but that test went really well the first time.

Oh, gosh, I just want the weekend–I can sleep in, and then tomorrow one of the clubs I”m in is going to drive out to a corn maze–I’ve never been to one of those, but it sounds fun. And then next week should be fun, too, except for psych–I’ve decided I am going to go to the Haunted House thing Wed, despite the fact that I will undoubtedly be terrified. My roomie says she gets scared really easy too, so we’re going to go with the rest of our floor and then be terrified together…..And then the next week I will be rewarded with Halloween (assuming I survive the geography and calc test that week).

And then it’s November–only one test that entire month! And a whole week off (a whole week, during which I have no idea where the heck I’m going to go, as the dorms close, my roomie has never explicitly invited me over for Thanksgiving, and I just don’t know.), and then December! Two weeks of school, a week of finals–and then Christmas break! Nearly an entire month off–Dec 20 through January 19 (MLK day). School doesn’t start until January 20.

ok, GAPA? Rosanne, I suppose, as she is the most bio related GAPA, but are coronary arteries ever legitimately referred to as cardiac arteries? Could I argue that question on my bio test and potentially get it marked right?

Also, what is the difference between a carpel and a pistil? My bio teacher told us the female reproductive structure of plants is a carpel. He never mentioned the pistil in class. However, on the test we have the following question:

Ovules are produced in the ovary which is located in the swollen lower portion of the:

    1. filament
    2. stigma
    3. anther
    4. stamen
    5. pistil

I did not remember what a pistil was, as my professor never once mentioned it. I knew that filament and anther were completley wrong–they are on the male reproductive structure. Also, the stamen is the male strucute, so wrong as well. That left stigma and pistil. I didn’t really like stigma, but didn’t remember what the pistil was. And the female strucutre, teh carpel, as described my prof was composed of the stigma, style, and ovary. So I decided that I owuld go with stigma although I did not like it. researching my answers, it looks like that would be wrong–that the pistil is correct. but my prof never, I repeat, enver used that term. So what is the diff between a pistil and carpel?

    Also:

Oh, *&^% nevermind–I don’t have another question. I finally, after rereading the question for the millionth time, saw one word–just one owrd–that all the other times care3fully rereading it, I never saw. the one that qould have easily clued me in to the correct answer, the answer that will proably be what would ahve been the diff between an a and b. @##$$ I need an A so bad. And now I’m pretty sure I didn’t get one, and I can’t afford a B in this class, i really, really can’t.

Drat, I think I shall just go find somewhere private to go spend the n ext hour crying. And that really is not much of an exaggeration–if I let myself, I oculd easily start crying right now.

It sounds like you’ll need to replace the inner tube, of which the valve is a part. It’ll come with a cap. Go to a bike store with the measurement of the tire or, if you don’t know the measurement, the inner tube itself. And although I have visited the lower 48 on numerous occasions, I was never in a state that grew corn at the time of year in which they turned it into a corn maze. Well, Philadelphia was interesting. On Friday we went to Valley Forge and poked around and then proceeded into Philadelphia. We went to the City Tavern to see what there was, and discovered some rather sad costumed, yummy (but was expensive) deserts and a nice building, despite being quite obviously a 1970s bicentennial project. It was nice.
Then yesterday we spent all day in the “Real Pirates” exhibit at the Franklin Institute. it was really good, if any of you can make it there before Nov. 2, I’d recommend it! So I go up to Eva’s, because it’s closer, and call HG’s number. Well, it turns out it’s not her cell phone, and no one’s there. I go home, hoping I have her cell phone number somewhere, but I don’t. ok–I’m sitting here in McDonalds (I really need to stop eating here–it’s much too convenient–and much too unhealthy), and somehow my wireless is now working, but anyways…..I was sitting here eating, catching up on MB, when this huge (about a centimeter long, and very, very fat bodied) spider came dropping down right behind my laptop from this fake plant. And if there is one thing I can’ take, it’s spiders. I flip out if there is a little itty bitty microscopic spider within seeing distance–and this one was huge (on the bright side, I don’t think it was a brown recluse–my understanding is they have much, much longer legs than this one…..) So, this MD employee was cleaning a table right across the aisle, so while snatching my computer, and jumping out of my seat I”m like, “Excuse me, do you have a napkin or something that I can use to kill this spider?” (Wondering why I was asking for soemthjing, as I am quite incapable of killing them with something olike a napking, cuz it requires getting much too close–what if they attacked me through the napkin?) So, she brings me a napkin–one itty bitty McD napkin!–and comes over and hands it to me–by now the psider is back on a leaf of the fake plant–and says, “I don’t do insects.” I take the napkin, saying, “Neither do I–especially not spiders” Which isn’t entirely true–I jsut don’t do spiders, other insedts aren’t a problem. She spras the spider with her spray bottle, knocking onto the counter, and then I actually squish it, but I swear I can feel it crawling on me…..ugh, I HATE spiders. I really, really hate them. They are absolutely nasty, and unfortuantely, they have poisonous spiders (brown recluses, possibly even black widows) down here. Back home–we don’t have any poisonous spiders–at all. Excuse me, I can feel it crawling on my shoulder blade (and yes, I know it is psychological, but I swear I can feel it).

So, there was this little even yesterday evening down in the common area of my res hall. Anyways, it appears Kokopelli’s influence has spread throughout the campus. At the little party, there was this booth where you could pie your PA (they are older students who supervise each floor.). Unfortunatley, neither of the PAs on my floor was there, cuz I would’ve loved to pie Kevin (dont’ get me wrong I don’t dislike him–it would just be fun). I pied one of them anyway, though.

Then, later, most of our floor went to that haunted house thing I mentioned a while back. It actually wasn’t as scary as I had expected. One huge plus was that the workers were not allowed to touch you–although, for not being allowed to touch, they sure came awfully close–one guy had his face less than two inches from my while he was revving a chain saw saying he wanted my brains…..that wasn’t scary though, he’d just gotten doen chasing all the other girls around, so I didn’t cooperate, just stood there with a look like, “ok, so you’ve got your face in mine, your point?”

All that really bothered me was when people jumped out, cuz that would make me jump and scream. Of course that was the whole thing…..but as soon as we were out of each thing, it was like, hey, I’m not scared aymore, that’s not scary. The irritating thing whenthe people jumped out fromunder beds or whatever, was that as soon as you dodged to avoid them, somebody came form the OTHER direction then.

So, we were only allowed to enter in groups of six, and the first haunted house segment, I was behind three girls (the one directly in front, I was shamelessly hanging on to her sweatshirt) and then two guys behind. The guy behind me is (according to himself) a total wimp and scares really easily. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how much that is true and how much he just wanted an excuse to hang onto me–either way, I have to admit it was comforting to have somebody (even if you didn’t know them) hanging on to you. So, when we first started, he was hanging on to my sweatshirt so tight he was seriously strangling me, at which point I [pried his ahnds off. Then he spent the rest of that atttraction with hands on either side of my waste, half the time singing the scooby doo theme song (which definitely helps undcreep things). Actually, I think it would ha e been less scary if the people right in front of me didn’t keep screaming–cuz when they would scream, even if I culdn’t see what they were screaming at, it would make me scream.

Then the second half of the haunted house attraction which was ike another building, I ahd a difgerent guy behind me (the one who waws behind the wimpy guy in the first house). So, he ahd his hands on my shoulders (doing the conga–he was singing half the time–good comic relief–and I definitely didn’t mind the contact–it was very reassuring……). Except for when we were next to this bed, and he tripped and accidentaly brusehd up against my angle, and I jumped/pulled away so fast cuz I thought somebody had reache dout from under the bed and grabbed me, and he was like, “sorry, that wa sme.”

Then there was the “huanted” hay ride in the corn maze, where we were all on this tractor pulled hay thing. So, the way the hayt is arranged, everybody has their back exposed, with an aisle down the middle where there feet are. So, my firwt question of the guy supervising (one of the guys who worked at the attraction) was “Can I sit in the middle?” (cuz I didn’t want my back to the guys jumping up on the edges of the trailer). And theguy was like–you’ll end up there eventually. Which I did–the first time soembody jumped up directly behind me. I was on the floor so fast I hadn’t even realized I’d moved. And I stayed there the whole time, pressing myself away from that side, into the legs of the people on the otehr side.

Then once we’re in the middle of the “maze” (it was lame as a maze/corn field. The stalks were not very tall nor dense, so you could see over the top of them, and could often spot the people hiding waiting to come and run at you) they let you out to walk back. So, as we’re walking, all these various people come runnig out and infiltrating the group. What was funny, was half the time I wouldn’t notcie that all of a sudden the person walking right next to me wasn’t part of our grup (I didn’t know half the kdis) but instead one of the workers, covered in blood or some such thing.

Then we got out wher we were chased around by some guy with a chainsaw (maybe one of y ou can tell me who he was suppose dto be–he kept saying womething like “If you run, you’ll only die tired.” which I”m sure is from some movie, cuz it sounds vaguely familiar. but I don’t know why.)

What I really like in the first house was this tunnel thing, where the round tunnel wall are rotating, and had bright green stars on them, andyou are walking through on a platform (which isn’t moving). So, the motion of the stars made it feel like the platform was moving, and I kept staggering back an forth, even though I knew the platform wasn’t moving, that I was upright, but the stars were so disorienting–that was fun.

Anyways……didn’t get any nightmares from it (I did have a nightmare, but it was unrealted–it had to do with the psych test I have this afternoon. Basically, the night mare was me taking the test, and it was horribly hard with impossible questions). And then I had an odd dream about that one PA I mentioned previously……but let’s not go there. It was a bit odd.

279~ The same way that guys shouldn’t wear girl’s pants. (Although that’s a little worse than the nail polish) It just is a little weird. Although I guess I shouldn’t say that, seeing as I’ve been guilty of a little cross dressing here and there, most notably when I was a good bit younger and ruined clothing, so mainly wore hand-me-downs from males, since they were a little less indestructible.
I still think that guys look funny in girl’s pants though, with the exception of breeches, men’s pants should <i.not be that tight. And with the exception of slops, they shouldn’t be that loose.

As far as cell phones, I don’t know anything about the LG Rumor. My cell (which I’ve had….about two months now) is an LG Shine, and I like it fine. Of course, it’s the only cell I’ve ever had, so….. Mine’s text and internet capable, but my parents aren’t paying for text (or internet)–which is fine with me. So, with a 92 on the first test, and now a 41/40, I think it’s pretty safe to say I will get an A (there is one more test for sure, and possibly a true final, but the final is not listed on the syllabus, so I think it is just one more test).

I missed the beggining of last night’s episode so I missed how she came into creation (she’s not his natural daughter but sortof a test tube baby I guess). But it’s kinda cool how there’s finaly a female timelord. (I also predicted that he would have a daughter a couple weeks before this story line came out, it was just a story I made up that I thought would be really cool). Anyways SPOILER WARNING she died at the end of the episode, then after the doctor and donna noble left the planet she was created on she came back to life. because she is a timelord and she has two hearts. END OF SPOILER WARNINGThe actress playing her is so beautiful. She has amazing eyes. I find the character a bit anoying though. She’s too bouncy. I am officially sick of people–they are such jerks! Some @(#*$&% seems to have gotten the idea into his or her head that it would be such great fun to go down my wing vandalizing everybody’s halloween decorations they had on their doors. Fortunately, the worst that happened to mine and my roomies is that the garland got pulled down–easily fixed with a new piece of tape. Others, however, did not get off as easily–one room’s garland looks to be hanging together only by a strand, while another person, with a different (and altogether cool) garland composed of thick orange twine (not really twine, but….) with glittery pumpkins attached is totally ruined–most of the pumpkins are lying on the hall floor in front of their door, and another room’s yellow “Caution, do not enter” tape has been ripped off. So, even though the damage to my decorations was eaasily fixed, I am really pissed off–why do people think it is so much fun to vandalize people’s stuff for absolutley no reason at all? People disgust me.

I’m having a fine day. Not as utterly spiffing as some days, but not half bad.
I was biking home with Eva and the sky was a pinkish-purple and there were dry leaves fluttering about and a chill wind and flocks of geese flying across the sky and a siren going off in the distance, and I felt like the world was going to end. Does anyone else ever get that feeling? I only get it occasionally, like this time and last summer when I was with Eva and Forest and we decided to go get pizza at eleven-thirty and went for a walk along the river. And there were so many stars, and it felt so dreamlike, like maybe you could fly, and I was certain that the world was coming to an end. It’s such a strange feeling, sort of terrified but sort of resigned, too, because there’s really nothing you can do about it and generally when I get that feeling the world is so beautiful, in a strange, frightening way.

It’s so hard to capture the feeling now, sitting at home with the heat on and Noodle in my lap listening to the Balanescu Quartet and typing up a post on MuseBlog and quarreling with Opal about the internet, but…

In the Grove: The Poet at Ten

She lay on her back in the timothy
    and gazed past the doddering
    auburn heads of sumac.

    A cloud—huge, calm,
    and dignified—covered the sun
but did not, could not, put it out.

    The light surged back again.

it was hard to distinguish from pain.

    News in my life:
I finally decided on a Halloween costume. I’m being Zelda (from the video game.)

I hit a high C on my trumpet about 5 times yesterday. I believe it’s the highest note possible on a trumpet, and I never have played it before.

My Scholastic Bowl team (junior varsity) won both matches at our last meet.

Here is a cheat I found to get around the parental block at school. Search the name of any section of the MuseBlog, such as “Bunny Apocalypse”. Then, click on the link. Because this site is not DIRECTLY the MuseBlog, it should work. If not, try using an external link, such as from a personal website. I’ll look for more. *zooms off to the cheat-sheet encyclopedia*

@427 – It’s not the highest note possible – however, it is the top of the standard 2.5 octave range. Theoretically there is no limit to how high you can go with the right chops – I myself (before my HUGE decline) hit at least an F above high C, and I’ve seen my teacher on numerous occasions squeak a double C, an octave above that…. Really it just depends on the person playing the instrument, not the instrument itself, as is commonly thought (you play the instrument, not the other way around! :)). Just make sure you’re not using any pressure, and consult an expert to make sure you’re doing it right!

    *searches for information*

Okay, it looks like Maynard Ferguson (the general authority on high notes, even though I DESPISE him) has been able to hit a high high high high D – a step above quadruple high C.

(I do love the trumpet. Why can’t I play it?)

If the issue is too muuch time on the computer (as you say), then I would recommend compromising, as opposed to sneaking around behind their backs. If you cut back on time spent on the computer, then they will be more willing to see reason and allow you on MB. I’m sure that is probably not what you wanted to hear, but….

I would fold my laundry, but my roomie is in bed (although I think she might be awake now). 420~ Oh, sorry, I thought you were in British Columbia! (Yes that’s the provence that borders with the Pacific ocean. Please tell me you knew that and I just misread your post!)

I had a simply glorious time on the Ghost Walk, starting 7PM Saturday night and going until maybe 11, I’m not sure, I lost track of time since I was having a blast and didn’t have a clock.
Anyway, I didn’t have to be a tourguide, but I got assigned to be a “woods walker” mainly wandering around in the woods trying to appear ghostly and scare people by jumping out from behind trees and/or screaming. :D Joy!
Beforehand I decided that I would completely let go and have as much fun as I possibly could being totally dramatic. So I did. As I didn’t have a scenario written for me I made up my own. The tours first saw me sobbing hysterically over a coffin an a graveyard scene as they entered the woods, I would then rise, ask them who killed him, then run through the group and alongside the path in the back so they couldn’t see me……when they got the the bend in the path I’d scream as loudly as I could (which is very loud, you don’t want to be near me when I let one out!) and start running straight towards them, crying “No! No! Turn back! Turn back while you can! No, no, oh god NO!!!!!” while running past, hanging on to my cap and skirts, occasionally falling down (sometimes on purpose). Once I tripped on a root, went flying forward, landed without injuring myself, crawled a few feet, got up again and commenced running, all the while warning the visitors of their impending doom if they continued on down the path. As soon as they were passed the other guy who was “haunting” the woods and walked back to the start with me appeared at my side, “That was good, but did you mean to fall down like that?”
“Ah, not really. I didn’t hurt myself at all, but I was surprised to rather suddenly find myself sprawled on the ground……But of course I planned it, how could you question me that way?!” (sarcasm)
“Oh. It looked like it happened pretty fast.” *both laughing*

As I said, it was glorious fun. I completely abandoned all restraint (in only theatrical matters, mind you!) and had a wonderful time screaming, running, falling, sobbing, and haunting in general!

I can never find matching socks, so I usually either steal some from my family members, or wear two different socks. Today I am wearing one ankle high green Champion sock, and one short white Nike one.
Today at lunch for some odd reason, lots of people moved to where my friends and I usually sit, and there was plenty of room left, except they said there was none left and I had to move to the other table. I had to sit with the people who think everything I say is hilarious. They were creeping me out a lot.
After that, since it’s the end of the quarter, we had to do these annoying sheets about what we thought we did well in a certain subject, and what grade we thought we got and why and blah blah. Usually my answers on those tick me teachers off. Somehow I manage to write very sarcastic and witty answers. I guess my other teachers told my current teacher about it, and when she said, “You must fill these sheets out seriously because we have to see how much effort you’re putting into these subjects…” she glared at me.
